A Maskless, COVID-Positive Biden Bares His Naked Face to the World
Even the mask mandators are done with once-ubiquitous pandemic precautions.

On his first days in office, President Joe Biden issued several executive orders requiring federal employees, federal contractors, and travelers to wear masks to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Courts eventually struck down the mask mandate for travelers. It wasn't until April of this year that the Biden administration formally revoked its masking requirement for federal workers.
A COVID-positive Biden is now modeling this new freedom by traveling and interacting with federal workers while baring his naked face to the world.
This has caused no small amount of controversy among certain journalists, certain doctors, and the "We're still in a pandemic!" remnant of public health obsessives who see the president's behavior as dangerously negligent. And mask-critical conservatives aren't missing the hypocrisy.
President Biden is testing positive for COVID, so why is he not wearing a mask? This will put others around him at risk.pic.twitter.com/Xxa2Q86VuZ

????IF BIDEN REALLY HAS COVID, WHY ISN'T HE WEARING A MASK? ????
Watch this video from just now. In the Presidential limo, around Secret Service & military, and aboard Air Force One, no mask despite having symptomatic COVID!

Huh. So based on Biden not wearing a mask, he either does not actually have Covid or he's putting the people around him at risk https://t.co/0AI5iX6rBv

Wherever you land on that spectrum, Biden's willingness to walk around with COVID and without a mask is one more nail in the coffin of pandemic protocols and mandates that dominated Americans' lives for a couple of very turbulent years.
It's one more piece of evidence that widespread masking, social distancing, and other anti-social anti-COVID mitigation measures are well and truly over.
Their disappearance was not always a sure thing. In blue cities and states, at least, it seemed that mask mandates could be near-permanent policy.
Here in Washington, D.C., for instance, the district government imposed indoor masking requirements three separate times. Two of those mask orders were issued after COVID-19 vaccines had become widely available to anyone who wanted one.
By that time, some evidence and a lot of common sense suggested that requiring people who'd already had COVID and/or been vaccinated to put on a mask for a few seconds before sitting down to eat at a restaurant made a negligible difference on the spread of the disease.
Nevertheless, the automatic public health thinking was "If cases go up, masks go on."
No longer.
Public sentiment is now clearly settled on the idea that masking is a thing of the past. A large body of research suggests that widespread masking, and mask mandates, do little to slow the spread of the disease.
A maskless Biden is one piece of evidence that so many pandemic-era mandates were a passing expediency at best and an unpopular mistake at worst.
See, for instance, someone like California Gov. Gavin Newsom criticizing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for enforcing his own lockdown regime during the pandemic.
Newsom was himself an arch-lockdown proponent—at least in terms of policy, if not his own personal behavior. Rather than atone for that, his rhetorical tactic is to shift some blame onto Republicans for also being bad on this issue.
People who chaffed under the restrictive, and often nonsensical, COVID restrictions can take some pleasure in virtually everyone basically coming around to their position. The COVID doves won. Masks and vaccine passports didn't become the new TSA regime. We don't live in a state of perma-pandemic precautions.
That isn't to say the effects of pandemic policy aren't still being felt.
While those pandemic-era masking, social distancing, and lockdown orders were in place, we also saw a huge infusion of government spending to keep a largely shuttered economy afloat. To impose those orders, all levels of government relied on expansive readings of often-obscure statutes.
The effects of those policies still live on. Pandemic-era spending has left us with persistently high inflation. The stretching of executive powers has encouraged the Biden administration to try to impose more non-pandemic policies (student loan forgiveness, medical debt forgiveness, and more) by presidential dictate.
It's hard to say that Biden has benefitted from that legacy. His administration is historically unpopular. If the polls hold, odds are he'll be a one-term president.
Trump—whatever his rhetoric—was a big-spending, inflation-fueling, imperial president during COVID as well. But the fact that voters are poised to punish Biden for following his lead suggests they don't want to see any element of the COVID state return, regardless of who's the president.

FACTS CHAAAAAANNNNGED!
Has J(ew)Free been notified? Is he aware that his overlords gave up the schtick and he can pretend he wasn't a chicken little pussy for years based on made up pseudo-religious kabuki theater?
Is Jeff aware that he can safely remove the masks from those poor bears he is carting around in his Honda civic?
The Radical Individualist has had a rough few weeks.
They’re going to get rougher. I wk dear if we can run him out of here finally if we put our minds to it.
A mask was the Dem equivalent of a MAGA hat for those boys. It was just for signaling affiliation.
Still is
"Still is"
Spot on.
Biden doesn’t have COVID.
Correct. COVID has Biden.
So the whole mask thing was bullshit from day one.
Just like the CDC said before the Communist Chinese Virus.
So was the vaccine efficacy also a lie, or did Joe just happen to get the one dose that doesn't work?
My anecdote: Everyone I work with who has been vaccinated has had covid several times. I haven't (as far as I know, I've never taken a test either).
In fairness, you’ve probably had it at least once and maybe several times but couldn’t tell it from your garden variety cold or even just a bad allergy day. Covid is life-threatening for some people but not for everyone.
Also in fairness, it’s likely that your coworkers had covid a time or two less than their tests indicated. There is a known false-positive rate with the commercially-available tests.
I think that a lot of people are just naturally immune or never get symptoms. That first cruise ship they locked down, even skewed as older than the general population, and given the perfect environment to spread - less than 20% of passengers came down with the bug.
Yes, I think it is likely I've had some mild cases. But I haven't even had a full blown cold for probably 6 years. For my coworkers' cases, I'm talking about times when they were actually pretty sick and out of work for a while, so I think they probably had it. Could have been a different coronavirus or flu too I guess.
Some studies a I read last year (meaning old) showed over 90% had antibodies. Acutally, first google hit:
https://time.com/6284236/covid-19-immunity-antibodies/
It's endemic, it just doesn't matter for the most part because it isn't novel. When everyone has been exposed, the very worst of its effects are mitigated. And even in the older days I had coworkers who got swabbed because it was required and wouldn't have known they were positive otherwise.
"Everyone I work with who has been vaccinated has had covid several times."
I've also found from my own work experience that those with covid and confirmed to have been vaccinated also feel compelled to announce that they have covid, as opposed to just saying "I'm sick" or the more general "I feel like sh*t".
"If you get the vaccine you won't get COVID" - POTUS Joe Biden
Guess he was low key unvaxxed the whole time
Pretty sure all his boosters if he got them were just saline. The crème de la crème tend not to follow their advice for the base canaille.
They aren't going inject themselves with an experiment if they can help it.
The thing that doomed the 'masks forever' thing was crooks inconveniencing the elites.
Man, this is like a flashback to 2020 or something. Masking, testing, self-isolation?
Follow the science and roll out millions of test kits — after millions of people already have the virus nationwide. Then hire a hundred thousand contact tracers, to find out that everyone has it and could have caught it anywhere.
And don't forget to get a booster for last year's variant while you're at it.
Ctrl-F "Vance" yielded zero results within the article. WTF Reason?
The only time I wear a mask is at Halloween much to the chagrin of quacks like Fauci and fascists like Biden.
I don’t understand this weird obsession with blasting old people for walking a bit slowly. Biden climbing the stairs looked like an 80 year old climbing stairs. Trump walking down the ramp looked like an 80 year old walking down a ramp.
Neither of those things was some big bombshell. These weird nothing-burgers are annoying.
The mask hypocrisy is the issue. Stick to that.
Why are you looking for hypocrisy where there is none? You just want gotcha's.
Jeff
Radically Individual, so long as it's totally conforming!
How many times has each man fallen while on camera, that has something to do with it. Trump walking looks like a leisurely stroll, Biden looks like a medically fragile rest home patient out with a caregiver a lot of the time.
Finally, Teedy Rosenfeld repooblicans return--like a dog to its vomit--to whining about the Spanish Flu.
Go choke on your dog's vomit, Hank.
Don’t kink-shame him!
Did Hank try to have sex with Teddy Roosevelt’s dog?
It remind him of his affair with James Madison's pretty greyhound bitch.
We've known that masks were an ineffective protection against spreading the virus for about 4 years and 4 months now. They were always just a visual virtue signal & a sign of obedience.
The CDC knew it long before 4 years ago.
Go look up their official mask recommendations from a history site.
There was a study done in 2003. Masks were NOT worn in Operating Rooms as part of the study. Where the masks were not worn there was a sharp reduction in post operative infections. It was believed that in the operating rooms where masks were not worn, people paid mote attention to protocol, reducing infections. The study did NOT recommend the removal of masks from operating rooms citing tradition and perception as the reason.
Dr. Cyril Wect stated in April of 2020 that the only good that would come from wearing masks during COVID would be that it would reduce anxiety in some people. When primarily Democrat Governors started flexing their power during COVID masks were seen as essential to keep up the charade and became a political issue.
It was never more than placebo.
Facts changed, then changed back, who knows when they will change again? We live in a Heraclitian universe.
"A maskless Biden is one piece of evidence that so many pandemic-era mandates were a passing expediency at best and an unpopular mistake at worst."
Hmm. I was thinking more like soul crushing tyranny.
I don't know that I believe or care that he has covid or any other disease. This looks to me like an excuse to keep him out of the public eye for a while or as a cover story for his imminent death.
Democrats and media are corrupt liars. I don't care about that in regards to covid now since most of the public knows they were full of shit and don't care about the disease anymore.
So many words to gently criticize the least interesting aspect of the story
Yeah, they are being hypocrites here.
However, if one were to steelman their argument, they might argue that widespread masking made more sense when there wasn't a lot of innate immunity already among the population, but now that the virus has circulated around for so long, it is less important to wear masks in order to protect others.
Plus - let's be honest - the people that Biden is around, are all much younger than he is so therefore all less at risk from the virus.
Let's be honest, you never cared to steelman those topics before.
Chemjeff conformist collectivist.
"Chemjeff conformist collectivist."
Exactly. Why do lying piles of lefty shit give themselves such obviously dishonest handles? Do the assholes assume no one can read the bullshit they post?
"wasn’t a lot of innate immunity"
"all much younger than he is so therefore all less at risk from the virus."
Unfortunately, the people who said every healthy college aged kid had to get it to stay in school, every elementary school kid the same, regardless of the fact that the risk was as close to zero as you could get...the people who scoffed at natural immunity...they don't get to use those arguments.
They have the choice of continuing their kabuki theater in shame, committing to the bit, admit they are full on hypocrites, or say that they dont care about people and are OK with risking their lives.
Their rulebook, im just playing by it
BIDEN US DRIVING AROUND WITH A BEAR IN HIS TRUNK!
BLOOD ON HIS HANDS IF IT GETS OUT!
THE BEARS HAVE FACIAL HAIR JUST LIKE HITLER.
Meh. It’s a corvette. Small trunk, small bear.
Plus – let’s be honest – the people that Biden is around, are all much younger than he is so therefore all less at risk from the virus.
But what about when they carry it back home to their grandmothers?!
Still presumes masks worked, which they didn't.
The best... the BEST masks showed based on an RCT which was done in Bombay years before COVID was masks showed around ~11% effectiveness, with a 0% effectiveness for the mask that Anthony Fauci wore on national television for two years.
Plus then there was all the religious bullshit, two masks, two masks and a face shield, a plastic barrier! Tables with plastic barriers! Shields at the grocery store!
A large body of research suggests that widespread masking, and mask mandates, do little to slow the spread of the disease.
Just going to ingore this and stick with masks work? Never change.
My girlfriend at the time of COVID was a former Air Force nurse. When we went back into Iraq, she was part of the group that would have responded if Biological or chemicals weapons had been used. At the time she was the Nurse for a local college that was more concerned with Meningitis breaking out in the dorms than anything else. She told me that if they were serious about using masks there would have been a push to show how to properly clean a reusable mask and how to properly dispose of disposable masks. There was never any push.
The masks didn't work then and still don't work. It's like trying to stop mosquitoes with a chain link fence. States with strict mask mandates had the same case rate as states that ended the mandates early.
Let’s be honest. Oh wait, WE are honest. You’re an inveterate liar.
I was told that not wearing a mask was "literally murder". And that my perfectly reasonable vaccine-hesitancy was "literally killing people".
As I wrote ban in December, 2020 (on V-day)...
I'm not anti-vaccine in general, and I understand the science of a vaccine at an advance layman's level. What I don't trust is a rushed vaccine jammed through the various processes in record time under emergency pressures. People and companies and governments will cut corners to make a deadline. People will get hurt. For low-risk people (remember, for 30% of COVID infections, the symptoms are simply not noticeable, and for another 30% or so, the symptoms are very mild) the vaccine side-effects may be worse than getting COVID.
Flu vaccines, MMR vaccines, polio vaccines, etc. were developed patiently (pun intended?) over years and well tested, with side-effects being very rare. I'm just not sure the same can be said of whatever Pfizer, et al., are churning out.
Maybe to put it another way: I think I'd rather (personally) take my chances with nature's virus than with the politicians and corporate folks who seem very intent on forcing me to take their shots knowing full well that they've rushed the process.
I get my annual flu vaccine, but admit that I will not be rushing to get in line for a COVID vaccination, for reasons hinted at by the last Reason article I sent out: mostly I don't trust a rushed-out, hastily approved vaccine to be any safer than the last few times we rushed out a pandemic vaccine. Especially given the extremely low risk of the virus itself actually doing me any significant harm...the cure may indeed be worse than the disease in such a case.
We can look toward some past experiences, and ask ourselves "how will it be any different this time?" And realize that every time we're told "it's different this time"...they were wrong. I expect to hear almost verbatim arguments as to the safety and efficacy of some future COVID vaccine.
In 2009, the H1N1 "swine flue" was a considered a pandemic...it ended up being a non-event (unlike in 2017-18, when 60-90k Americans died from the H1N1 flu).
Here's an article that came out right after the first H1N1 vaccines became available in 2009...note the dismissive and self-righteous tone...
*** What about the vaccines? People’s nervousness about swine flu vaccines is understandable. In 1976, after the death of a US army recruit triggered fears of a repeat of the deadly 1918 pandemic, around 48 million Americans were given a swine flu vaccine. Of these, 532 developed Guillain-Barré syndrome, a paralytic condition caused by rogue antibodies attacking nerve cells. Most people recover from Guillain-Barré, but not all; 25 died after 1976 and others suffered lasting damage. ***
They attempt to prove to the reader that this time it's different! "Still think it’s safer not to get vaccinated?"
By 2012, evidence began mounting that the safety of the vaccine was not, perhaps, all it had been promised. It was not "different this time" after all.
***The H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine was associated with a small but significant risk for developing a rare nervous disorder called Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS), say doctors in a report detailed in the July 11 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
The study, conducted in Quebec, rekindles the still-controversial connection between Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS) and the 1976 swine flu outbreak, which halted that year's flu vaccination program in the United States. It also raises questions about vaccines for flu strains originating in swine.***
Not only not different, but pretty much exactly the same!
It's now 2020, and thousands of people are still dealing with issues from that round vaccines...note that the worst-case models caused the panic and were revised down, but people were still forced to submit to the vaccinations...all the while being lied to about the safety and testing behind the development...
"All of this has happened before, and it will all happen again." ― J.M. Barrie , Peter Pan
The head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is willing to fast-track a COVID-19 vaccine as quickly as possible, the Financial Times reported him as saying in an interview published on Sunday.
Dr. Stephen Hahn, the FDA Commissioner, said his agency was prepared to authorize a vaccine before Phase Three clinical trials were complete, as long as officials are convinced that the benefits outweigh the risks, the newspaper reported.
Wherever you land on that spectrum
Somewhere between Asperger's and full blown autism if my social life is any indication.
The Venn diagram of Being On The Spectrum and Just Being An Asshole has a large overlap.
Aren't we at the point where "Whycome no masks?" outs you as one of the amnesty beggars?
For anyone with even a lick of sense and/or was not a paid shill, the "Nobody cared who I was until I put on the mask." memes were old by 2021.
Meanwhile my local newspaper relentlessly beats the drum of covid dangers, the need for bird flu testing and seems pissed off that not enough people are wearing masks... in 2024.
Who reads local newspapers?
I only scan my front page for the lulz now. And the occasional "Whycome everything closing in downtownz!" articles.
Oh and then the "it's happening, but it's not as bad as you say" articles, followed a year later by "it's happening, and it's actually worse than you say."
I see a newspaper and wonder, how are they still in business?
Turns out my local newspaper is subsidized by taxes. Explains the bias AND the still being in business. Nobody actually needs to read it.
Yes, my local paper receives taxpayer funds. You'd think this would be a major scandal in journalism, but it's something that just quietly happened across America and hardly anyone notices or cares.
It's just funny.
“On the first day I’m inaugurated, I’m going to ask the public for 100 days to mask. Just 100 days to mask — not forever, just 100 days. And I think we’ll see a significant reduction” in the virus, Biden said.
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health/among-first-acts-biden-to-call-for-100-days-of-mask-wearing
"people are dying" bleat the mindless sheep. These unintelligent bots are mentally ill.
Let's hope he's still wearing his diapers.
I'm a little disappointed that COVID turned out to be harmless to lizard people.
No mask, but plenty of boosters....
He will never be boosted enough for me. I don't remember a press release telling us he was getting a booster recently. Dog and pony show every six months or he is under boosted.
Dog and pony show every six months or he is under boosted.
Dog-faced pony soldier show.
When Biden stars in the show, they are the same show.
Isn't there some kind of federal law or statue that leds them prosecute local officials for abuse of power? If Trump wins i want to see him prosecute and imprison every single covidiot who instituted lockdown and closed schools and mask regs. It was one of the most comprehensive and egregious abuses of power I've seen in my lifetime. life in jail as a warning to other would-be petty tyrants.
Oh God… they made Mr. Woodchipper here wear a mask to pick out his tomatoes at the Safeway. That’s what we call tyranny here in ‘Murica
"" to pick out his tomatoes at the Safeway"'
Well that seems rather limited. Why not for picking fruit?
That’s what we call tyranny here in ‘Murica
Yes, we have a long and storied tradition of telling heavy-handed dicks like you to fuck off. Now, fuck off.
Fuck off, you lost.
Dear Reason:
I finally got around to subscribing. I don’t always (ok, usually) agree with you all, but at least you haven’t become like the GOP ball lickers here in the comments. I was very dubious about libertarianism when I came here, but you have at least convinced me that at least some libertarians aren’t just conservatives who would like to get laid. So thank you for that. You have expanded my mind.
Which sock are you again?
It’s tony.
It can’t be. Tony died of sepsis subsequent to a severe rectal rupture after a misadventure with an oversized dildo.

"I finally got around to subscribing..."
FOAD, asshole.
Remember all those people thinking the world would be so different after the pandemic? We will never be the same again!
Nobody will ever hug or shake hands again!
Handshakes are a bit less common professionally from what I've noticed. The older generations still offer a hand, but younger ones are way less so after covid
Strange that Biden's tan he suddenly gained after the debate has disappeared and the masks he demanded everyone get because "his patience is wearing thin" have suddenly become invisible.
Biden doesn't remember if he put on underwear this morning ... do you really expect him to remember to put on a mask ?
What's funny is the castigation that no one else around him is wearing a mask. It's like everyone forgot the one-way maskinization theory of COVID:
My mask protects you, your mask protects me, but my mask doesn't protect me and your mask doesn't protect you.
Trump—whatever his rhetoric—was a big-spending, inflation-fueling, imperial president during COVID as well. But the fact that voters are poised to punish Biden for following his lead suggests they don't want to see any element of the COVID state return, regardless of who's the president.
LOL *snort*
It's like toddlers write for this rag.
They did hire Emma Camp……..
We all know he doesn't have COVID.
Hypocrisy is common with politicians, but there is hypocrisy and then there is colossal hypocrisy.
The democrat party of my youth is long gone and so full of an astounding level of hypocrisy. The democrat party has become the largest perpetrators what they pretend to protect people from.
It's almost to the point where all the accusations the the democrat politicians lob at republicans is a reflection of what the democrat politicians are doing.
Projection is certainly a thing in politics, and Democrats seem to have it, in spades.
Note to Joy Reid: No, catching COVID and "surviving" it is not at all like surviving an assassination attempt.
“Donald Trump is an elderly man who, for whatever reason, was given nine seconds to take a photo-op during an active shooter situation. Weird situation, we'll figure that out one day,”
Trump’s “survival of that and bouncing right back and going right to his convention is being conveyed in the media world as a sign of strength,” Reid continued.
“This current president of the United States is 81 years old and has COVID, should he be fine in a couple of days, doesn't that convey exactly the same thing? That he’s strong enough – older than Trump – to have gotten something that used to really be fatal to people his age. So, if he does fine out of it and comes back and is able to do rallies, isn't that exactly the same? … I mean it’s not exactly the same, it’s not the same incident but it’s an elderly man coming through, out of an illness.”
Many claims like you're "literally killing people by not wearing a mask". Joe Biden, mass murderer?
I still see a fair number of people wearing masks, esp. on trips to the grocery store (maybe because that's the only place I go anymore, I don't get out much these days). About half are elderly, so I don't blame them if they feel better about it, as they are in the most at-risk group for pretty much all flu-like illnesses (pneumonia, RSV, influenza, COVID...). The rest are invariable 20-somethings with purple hair or the like. The virtue-signalling is at 11 with them.
