Brickbat: No Thanks for Clearing That Up

In England, all seven members of the Broughton Moor parish council resigned following a public backlash after one council member reported a man to police for trimming overgrown weeds and hedges from the right-of-way of a local road. Some area residents had said the vegetation made it dangerous to walk on the road, so Adam Myers trimmed it all back. But less than 10 minutes after Myers posted a photo of the completed work, a council member commented that he had caused criminal damage. Local police also received a report about Myers' landscaping but said they plan to take no action on the matter. Council members said they were bullied online and in person over the effort to call the police on Myers.

This is for my Team D friends this morning. It is the general reaction amongst Team D to POTUS Biden's debate performance last evening. 🙂

In a statement posted on the parish council website said “As of June 20, and following an orchestrated campaign of bullying and abuse, both online and in person, against the members of the parish council and the clerk, Broughton Moor no longer has a parish council.
“All future plans for improvements for the village have been cancelled and the community centre has been closed.
“Cumberland council has been informed and will now assume responsibility for the governance of the village.
“It is almost certain that the diocese of Carlisle will not now gift the church building to the community, something which the parish council had fought hard to achieve.
“Hopefully, the village will recognise what it has lost.”
This sounds like the worst sort of rage quit you’d get from the loser of a video game. I’m guessing the “harassment” was, simply, exactly what they deserved.
LOLZ. Don’t go away mad, bro. Just go away.
But less than 10 minutes after Myers posted a photo of the completed work...
Okay, I think I see the problem.
Council members said they were bullied online and in person over the effort to call the police on Myers.
Is it really a brickbat when the system worked?
Make the autistic kid the parish council.
It's Britain, you're going to need to be more specific.
"Council members said they were bullied online and in person over the effort to call the police on Myers."
You mean the people didn't just lay back and think of England - they acted like free people and not serfs?
> bullied online
A euphemism for the peasantry disagreeing with their betters.
Interesting Brickbat. I would have thought you’d go with this one:

Just because you live in a small village does not mean that there are no rules that may limit you. I will miss the very moment of the quarrel with the community leadership (this can happen to anyone). But I cannot help but remind you that each municipality has the right to approve its own local rules for urbanization. Sometimes this is good. My uncle and aunt have lived in Canada for many years. The latest news was that the city council decided to improve the energy safety of old houses. In practice, this means that a third of homeowners use help for windows replacement richmond hill - https://windowtechcanada.ca/windows-and-doors-richmond-hill/ Old houses give the city its originality and spirit of history.. but.. I am happy with this approach since modern materials can be used to reconstruct old models one to one.
