Brickbat: Just a Piece of Paper

Sheriff Calvin Hayden of Johnson County, Kansas, has admitted that a warrant he claimed to have allowing him to seize election ballots was not signed by a judge. Since 2019, Hayden claimed to be investigating election fraud, focusing on a software company the county used to manage poll workers. No charges have come from that investigation. While state law requires the county to destroy the ballots, the elections office had held off because of Hayden's purported investigation. But when they never received that warrant, and after being reminded of the law by the secretary of state's office, they destroyed the ballots, leading Hayden to accuse them of destroying evidence. During a candidates' forum, former Kansas GOP Chairman Mike Kuckelman asked Hayden which judge signed the warrant he claimed to have had. "There's no judge," Hayden replied. Kuckelman pointed out that a judge has to sign a warrant for it to be valid. "I didn't say it was valid," Hayden said.

This PROVES that Der TrumpfenFarter-Fuhrer's erections were STOLEN, damn-shit!
I told ya so!!!!
The Sad Saga of the Stolen Erections
And lo, it came to pass, that Tim the Enchanter blew upon His Magic Flute, and led me to a secret cave (the Cave of Caerbannog), whereupon mystic runes carved into the very living rock foretold of a day to come.
This sad, sad day has now manifested itself, just as foretold. The Promised One had been delivered to us, and was to fertilize His Queen, Spermy-Stormy Daniels, in an amazing scene; a glaze of Vaseline. Their offspring were to be called Strumpets… Which is a cat-house concatenation of Stormy and Trump. They were to number in the millions… About 332 million; enough for all residents of the USA to be issued one Strumpet per each resident, to sit on his or her right shoulder, and make sure that each resident stayed WAAAY Righteous. Each Strumpet was to progressively exert more and more Righteousness Control over each resident, by covering them in Strumpet Vines.
Sad to say, the Bad Bider-Grunch stole Trumpsmas AND Trump’s Erections! The stolen erections prevented the birth of the 332 million Strumpets, in the world’s WORST mass murder (genocide) so far! Even Saint Babbitt could NOT save the Strumpets!
This is the Sad Tale of the Demise of the USA!
Nobody read that.
Hi Nobody! What did you think of it, then?
Maybe one day, AI judges will be autographing warrants.
"I didn't say it was valid," Hayden said
I mean, I guess he's got us there.
Remember, the cops can lie to you, but it is a crime to lie to the cops.
Remember, whether there's a law or not, cops actually can lie to election workers, but don't worry, there is no voting fraud and we'd never need any additional protections or systemic reform to the best elections ever... unless there was a pandemic... again.
He should comment here at Reason. He'd fit right in.
Are you admitting to lying?
No. It goes against my morals to admit to stuff.
How dare you?
How goddamn lazy do you have to be to not bother finding a rubber stamp judge.
18 U.S.C. § 242
Seems like a cut and dried deprivation of 4th amendment rights against unreasonable search and seizure.
"Fourth Amendment rights"—how quaint.
I’m not clear about the part in The Constitution where it says the State of Kansas and Johnson County has to destroy your anonymous vote in a timely manner.
I get that Hayden is being a dipshit but, FFS we’re 20 yrs. down the road from hanging chads and almost 150 yrs. down the line from Grant’s and Hayes’ elections “through fraud and compromise”. The idea that the guy who caused votes to be held longer before destruction without filing any charges hardly seems like any sort of Constitutional crisis… aside from the usual pulling a firearm or touring the Capital does/doesn’t constitute insurrection.
Hayden certainly deserves fined, voted out, arrested for fraud under the color of law, and/or maybe even run out on a rail, but n00bdragon’s idiocy wouldn’t pass a 6th grade civics class.
The deprivation of rights is the waving of an invalid warrant about apparently with the intent to confuse people into treating it like it is valid even when the officer knows it is not. Abuse under the color of law is a crime, as linked. It has nothing to do with the destruction or nondestruction of ballots.

Well, moron, unless you’re going to go full retard and convict people of free speech, and void the 9th and 10th Am. too, they can waive invalid warrants around. They just, according to the 4th, can’t use them to seize private property. Which the votes rather definitively are not. Anything else is more of a State-level, or lower, procedural error that has fuck all to do with The Constitution.
Just because you want to be a retard, interpret The Constitution well outside the text and in direct contradiction to other parts of the BOR, then apply that contradiction down to the county level like a totalitarian far worse than even Sheriff Hayden, doesn’t mean everyone has to blindly agree with you trying to shove them down the retarded rabbit hole.
Moar turds from the "Mah vote was stolen!" party. I hope this cockroach gets fined big time.
Sounds like someone needs some time in prison for his fake claim of having a warrant.
Cops are allowed to lie to suspects.
Why does Kansas require the destruction of ballots, unless it's fear that a recount will reveal fraud?
