New York City Mayor Eric Adams has approved clean air rules for coal- and wood-fired stoves that could force some pizzerias to install expensive emission control devices or go out of business. Some pizzerias that have already installed emission control systems to meet the new mandate said it cost them over $600,000, a price others may not be able to afford.

Next year's regulation will be to require customers to purchase and self-install a "methane capture device" along with nearly all fast food and any "sit down" restaurants serving cuisines which tend to heavily use ingredients like beans, lentils, and other legumes or starches.

They believe that the City is entrenched enough as a one-party jurisdiction that the new ordinance will be titled "The Just Stick it in Your Ass Act"
