Brickbat: Timber!

For three years, the Bond family asked the city of Portland, Oregon, for permission to remove two Douglas firs that they believed looked dangerous. But the city's Urban Forestry division denied them a removal permit. "Removal will significantly affect neighborhood character, based on the tree's attributes, visibility of the tree to the public, or past removals of trees in the area," the agency said in a letter to the family. But during a recent storm, one of those trees fell onto their home, forcing them out. A city arborist advised the family that they will have to apply for a permit to remove the remains of the tree, and they will also have to pay to have a tree planted to replace it. The Bonds were also advised to go ahead and remove that second tree from their property and apply for a retroactive permit, but if that permit is denied, they could be fined for removing the tree.

Reason 1999 why not to live in Portland.
You are missing a few zeros from that number.
Bond, Joel Bond. 007, licensed to kill... but not to fell a tree in Portlandia.
Bond: Do you expect me to talk?
Goldfinger: No Mr. Bond! I expect you to plant a new tree where the previous one fell!
I had three trees in my lot. All were threatening my house in one way or another. They are now gone. Iive in the middle of midsize Iowa city. No permits, just me and some chainsaw weilding guys.
The tree in the picture is not a Douglas fir.
So fake news?
So stock photo.
Fakish.
The tree in the picture also fell on a fence, not a house. It's probably a stock photo of a down tree that has no connection to the actual story.
It's not on the house either.
I do like my stuff "on the house"... Except for fallen trees! And death and taxes!
The fence in the photo is not a home.
properly tilted it could be a lean-to.

Does a Copper Nail Kill a Tree? Full Guide (& How to Speed It Up)
I am told that in Germany, you can't cut down your living tree, unless you kiss endless ass, or you're an important politician, or who knows twat! You MAY, however, take down a DEAD tree! So torture the tree to death over a few month's span, with copper nails, and THEN you may take it down! It's what they DO over there!
Something similar happened in Massachusetts. A 150 year old tree along a sidewalk was in the way of progress (as defined by the adjacent landowner). The city denied permission to cut it down. The developer went to work on the rest of the lot. Construction vehicles kept bumping into the tree until the city let it be put out of its misery.
One of the many ?blessings? of having urban ‘planning’ gods.
Did you ask your local Gov-God figure if you could take that sh*t? /s
Off to the fees and penalties labor extortion camp with you. /s
What do you mean you didn't tear it down but the weather did? Everyone knows the 'environmentalist' Gov-Gods packing 'guns' against the weather controls the weather! And since the Gov-Gods didn't order the tree be blown over it's your fault! /s
You live in Portland. You voted for those laws. I'm struggling to have any sympathy for you now.
Political candidates LIE to us all of the time! We can't be blamed for believing THEIR stupid lies, to a large extent! Blame to the offenders, not the innocent, please!
My favorite example is POTUS Wilson. "I'll keep the boys home, out of the war," he promises. A few months after being elected, Wilson sends them off to war! He also fired all (almost all or all, I'm not sure which) black federal employees, having not given ONE single hint that he'd do such a thing!
Do you think they're lying every-time they announce during campaigning their "centrally planning" for everything?
lol and Farmers will undoubtedly deny the claim.
Meanwhile an un-named source has advised the Bonds to move out of Portland entirely to prevent any further idiocracy incidents. They should probably also move out of Oregon completely and settle in one of the few states that has not yet been infected with cradle-to-grave, Big Brotheristic bureaucratocracy.
