Playground Sign Outlaws 'Loitering at Slide Entry or Exit'
"This is literally a playground that's for 2- to 5-year-olds," says former preschool teacher Katie Courtney.

"Welcome! Play Safe," reads the sign at a Fairfax County Public School playground in Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. The sign also lists a few simple rules—21 of them, by my count.
First off, the playground should never be used when it is frozen. Or wet.
There can be no climbing on things like the safety rails (which are basically just fences). Kids must not wear any clothing with drawstrings, hoods, or toggles while they are playing, because these items could get caught on something. (Ponytails seem grandmothered in.)
On the slide, children must "take turns," "sit in an upright position," and "not climb." There also must be "no loitering at slide entry or exit."
Loiter not, little ones!

"This is literally a playground that's for 2- to 5-year-olds," says Katie Courtney, a 32-year-old mom of four who brought the sign to my attention. The slide, she says, is "about as tall as an adult."
Nonetheless, when a child gets up to the top of the slide, legally they must hustle their butt right down. This irks Courtney, who has a master's degree in education and used to teach preschool.
"Part of the fun of being on the playground is that for three seconds you're at the top of the slide—you have one moment of being in charge," she says.
And if another kid is right behind you?
"How hard is it for a 4-year-old to negotiate, 'You need to move! You're blocking everyone else!'?" she wonders.
Without legal counsel? That's crazy.
Still, the slide rules pale in comparison to the rules for the monkey bars and rings. Kids are not allowed to sit or walk on the monkey bars, nor can they "skip rings or rungs."
Courtney finds this intolerable. If kids feel ready to skip a ring or rung, she says, they should be allowed to go for it.
"It gives them some confidence in their decision making," she says. Force kids to follow rules like that "and you think you're protecting your 4-year-old from getting hurt, then all of a sudden you have a 17-year-old who doesn't know how to make a decision."
Playing on the swings is also strictly regulated. The rules state there can be only one child at a time, they must "sit in an upright position," and there is to be no "twirling." Can they jump off? No, of course not.
Fairfax County did not respond to a request for comment about the sign.
Tony Christopher, executive director of the National Institute for Play, says that playgrounds post these signs in order to "mitigate the liability of the entity responsible for the playground (school, municipality, etc.) in the event they are sued."
Boston College psychology professor Peter Gray, an expert on free play and co-founder with me of Let Grow, has seen such signs at several playgrounds.
"The only restriction that needs to be added to make them complete is 'No Playing,'" he says.

Fun an play are illegal now.
It's an attempt at conditioning, in an attempt to replace common sense with strict rules. These kids just might grow up to believe that driving 26 mph in a 25 mph zone is fatal.

"CEILING FAN CRACKDOWN: The Biden admin is introducing new regulations on Americans’ ceiling fans with expected costs to manufacturers being more than $86 million per year:"
Just the other day I got really drunk and attempted to replace a ceiling fan while balancing atop a glass end table. After the table broke and the ceiling fan blades impaled my liver I glanced at the instructions for the fan and there was not one word cautioning against being drunk and standing on a glass table while installing the fan. Had government warnings been attached, I would still be alive today instead of buried in this dark dank hole.

Just got here but I'm calling thread winner Jerrys.
Don't worry, Biden's alcohol czar will make sure no one ever gets drunk again. Especially Spanish athletic association presidents.
A ceiling fan AND a glass table? What kind of super rich lifestyle do you have? Makes me think that taxes on the upper class are too low.

"This is literally a playground that's for 2- to 5-year-olds," says former preschool teacher Katie Courtney.
Sadly, here is a teacher that doesn't know the difference between "literally" and "actually". It is "literally a playground". It is "actually a playground".
At least she was preschool. Maybe the kids will have time to learn the correct use of the term in realschool. (But I doubt it.)
CB
Please note it says FORMER; perhaps things worked out in the end.
"And I shit you not" would be more appropriate.
I'm figuratively sick to death of the incorrect use of literally.
Y'all are literally literal experts of the literary literature of literalness, and I need for you to literally change my literally shitty kitty litter!
(Now recite that really-really fast, 10 or more times!)
You son of a bitch sqrlsy why can’t you do anything right
Sadly, lexicographers’ jobs are descriptive rather than prescriptive, and now Webster’s includes “figuratively” as a definition for literally.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/misuse-of-literally
Can literally mean figuratively?
One of the definitions of literally that we provide is “in effect, virtually—used in an exaggerated way to emphasize a statement or description that is not literally true or possible.” Some find this objectionable on the grounds that it is not the primary meaning of the word, “with the meaning of each individual word given exactly.” However, this extended definition of literally is commonly used and is not quite the same meaning as figuratively (“with a meaning that is metaphorical rather than literal”).
1 : in a literal sense or manner: such as a : in a way that uses the ordinary or primary meaning of a term or expression He took the remark literally. a word that can be used both literally and figuratively b —used to emphasize the truth and accuracy of a statement or description The party was attended by literally hundreds of people. c : with exact equivalence : with the meaning of each individual word given exactly The term “Mardi Gras” literally means “Fat Tuesday” in French. d : in a completely accurate way a story that is basically true even if not literally true
2 : in effect : VIRTUALLY —used in an exaggerated way to emphasize a statement or description that is not literally true or possible will literally turn the world upside down to combat cruelty or injustice —Norman Cousins
They let morons fuck up "decimated" as well.

Sexual preference, that was a fun one
A fun one. Heh.
When Bonus hole entered the lexicon, nobody could doubt the ambiguity of the term Sexual preference anymore.
What about Lady dick?
Yeah, when a major newspaper reports an incident "She showed her penis" without any sense of irony, the term she obviously doesn't mean what I used to think it means.
Deomcracy
Or they/them. It's almost as insufferable (maybe more so) than anyone but anointed royalty using the royal we (and that's insufferable by itself but at least it's tradition from when the monarch was figuratively the nation). And worse than referring to yourself in the third person.
Lie = mistake or something I disagree with.
Compromise = I just less of what I want but you get nothing (see compromise on any budget proposed by a Democrat or gun control).
Criminal = cannot be applied to anyone illegally crossing the border (nor can they be referred to as illegal either) or anyone of color even after conviction.
Justice reform = ignoring the enforcement of laws, see criminal above.
National Defense = spending hundreds billions of dollars arming another country, while transferring state of the art tanks that were earmarked for a tier one national guard mechanized infantry brigade to Poland so that the aforementioned unit cant even train in their tanks (as their old tanks are deadline as a result of multiple deployments). *My son and nephew's unit.
Insurrection. Don't need to say more.
Treason = doing the same thing the Democrats have done every election since 2001 but not being a Democrat.
Racism = being white.
Global warming, ehr climate change, ehr climate crisis, ehr global boiling = more serious, imminent danger than poverty, disease, famine, war, etc it is literally (smirk) the fifth horseman, more powerful and dangerous than the other four.
Racism: a means to prevent the people from uniting against the tyranny that holds them down, and as such places the blame on the majority race
Covid: bioweapon deployed to both kill off the most expensive members of society (disabled and elderly) while facilitating a global lockdown via global media propaganda
Climate change: military ops that have been going on for 20 years attempting to control the weather.
Treason: your partisan opponents actions
Trump: your Jesus – comes complete with whatever traits you can dream up
J6: fbi contrived plot to entrap politics opposition
Vote fraud: contrived to keep eyes off the real election meddling done by the bureaucracy in favor of Biden admin by censoring political opposition thru global media
Partisanry: method to keep citizens pointing fingers at each other instead of gov
Russian interference: comey cites Hillary’s emails and fbi clears trump of Russian collusion days before election
Lab leak: theory that will not be investigated for fear it is concluded that the gov LIHOP or worse, MIHOP
Vaccine: untested but effective med that protects those most vulnerable to Covid; useless for those under 50
Cops: those who seek to harm the poor
Domestic terrorist: anyone who sticks their neck out in opposition to the current bureaucracy’s favorite party
Russia: excuse for MIC to meddle in Ukraine and America
Misinfo: co-opting of thinking so the gov can discern reality and truth for you
Propaganda: free to use against the public since 2013
Citizens: expendable useless feeders that must at all times be divided and placed into fictional crises; also, those to exploit
Business: civilized sodomy
Gaaaaaaaaaay!

Welcome to Newspeak.
Sadly? What are lexicographers supposed to do? Record a language that people aren't actually using?
Well, I'm literally typing words.
Using talk to text. I’m figuratively typing words.
I'm using the swipe keyboard on my phone. I'm literally figuratively typing words.
Way to remind me of my own ignorance.
I literally have no idea what you are trying to say here.
When I write, I actually misuse literally.
Literally?
It's both actually and literally a playground for 2-5 year olds. I see nothing wrong with either choice. Its being a playground for 2-5 year olds isn't a figure of speech, is it? It's literally true. And it's actually true too.
The grammar book I used from circa 1960 already complained about the use of "literally" to mean "figuratively" hyperbolically, so this isn't a new thing. But with all the examples you could pull up, probably here at HyR, you had to go and falsify an abuse of "literal".
"It gives them some confidence in their decision making," she says. Force kids to follow rules like that "and you think you're protecting your 4-year-old from getting hurt, then all of a sudden you have a 17-year-old who doesn't know how to make a decision."
Well, what part of 'Fairfax County, Virginia' did you not understand?
That part of Baja DC doesn't want kids trying to make decisions for themselves. They want kids that will become fearful democrats voting as they are told.
Rich men North of Richmond? Anyone?
Reminds me of a when a contractor returned from a local beach after his lunch break; his comment on the long list of prohibited items on the signs was perfect:
"Why not just leave it at "NO FUN"? "
Of course, if a kid gets hurt jumping from a swing, or falling if they skip a rung, the parent will sue the County.
Nothing is too local for Reason!
Except J6, and the disastrous emergency management by diversity hires on Maui. Those are far too local.
Monday’s Reason Roundtable literally had a five-minute segment on poor emergency management in Maui, literally.
"The podcast talked about poor management for five minutes"
Sometimes through sheer stupidity alone, you manage to put an exclamation mark on your opponents point.
It is quite amazing.
I don’t call him a squawking bird for nothing.
Several other off-topic and way too local happenings not worthy of mention in a national libertarian magazine:
A vice-president peddling influence and taking bribes. However, impeaching a president for calling for an investigation into the bribe-taking and subsequent coverup, is not too local to cover.
A president ordering the Director of the FBI, the Deputy Director of the FBI, the Chief of the Counterespionage Section of the FBI, the Director of the CIA, the Director of National Intelligence, and members of the Justice Department and the State Department to spy on members of the opposition political party in an effort to ensure his former Secretary of State wins the Presidency. Way too local and irrelevant to libertarianism.
Speaking of J6 as you did, protesting fraudulent elections are insurrection, but a speaker of the house asking the military to stage a coup against a president is way too local... national libertarian magazine wise.
The DOJ suing SpaceX for not breaking the law.
What form of government only allows you to do business as long as you follow the diktates of the party?
I’m sure it’s just some right wing thing, it couldn’t ever happen here.
Meeting with the assistant to the special counsel investigating your political opponent three times in the months leading up to his indictment.
Behind close doors with no agenda offered to the public.
Using an alias to register an alternate email account, one not subject to public records laws. All the while transporting your son around the world on taxpayer dime, to foreign countries that you're point man on. Where he is making millions of dollars off of. For which ethic watchdogs have already warned you about, and then having that money paid into twenty off shell companies and funneled through multiple other ones. Oh you mentioned bribery, my bad.
The impeachment was about covering up these crimes!
This is the very height of outrage porn. Literally no one cares about some sign telling you how to play safely on a playground.
I literally don't care either, till Karen and sociologists and psychologists and lawyers and cops all come around, and literally use what's on the sign, to literally endlessly boss us around, and then literally take our kids away from us, until we pay them literally millions of dollars for them to literally endlessly lecture and harangue us in mandatory "therapy", to get our kids back, so that our kids won't be literally abused by "experts" in the orphanage or foster care!
"Therapy" from the "experts" is the New MANDATORY State Religion, and their lectures are the New Revealed Preachings! PREACH it, "therapists"!

Can we at least get some literal grief counselors here, to help us cope with the loss of our freedom?
It's SQRLSY on the weekend, when the part-time staff doesn't make him take his meds.

"Mentally ill" or “insane”, my ass! Whoever disagrees with totalitarians is "mentally ill"! That makes YOU just like the communist totalitarian assholes of the USSR who used psychiatry to punish political dissidents, asshole!
All of those who disagree with MEEEE are… Mentally ILL!!! YES, this! Good authoritarians KNOW this already!

Literally no one cares about some sign telling you how to play safely on a playground.
Figuratively no one cares.
Better than Germany, where fondling, groping, and nude play among toddlers is encouraged.

I guess we skipped those parts when I read it in high school all those years ago.

Well, the Germans do have an unreal fascination with shit.

Welcome to Northern VA. If you want to find even more ridiculous CYA stuff then go to Oakton/Vienna. The issue is the concentration of Karens and lawyers. Too many people looking to sue.
That looks like the kind of rules sign I have spent my entire life ignoring. Like the ones at pools. I've never read past the second rule.
So did you pee in them?
100% Was I not supposed to?
How else do you protect yourself from the jelly fish in public swimming pools?
I’m sure swimsuits filter pee as well as masks filter out viruses.
Holy shit, this made me laugh pretty hard. Cheers!
Just stay in the No Peeing section.
You just need 6 feet between you and someone peeing.
This is actually really, really, really sinister. Establishment/leftist thought-producers feel 100% comfortable just making up fantasies that they testify to as truth, and using those fantasies to program their audience with hate. This is a key component of totalitarian regimes.

Look how they called Trump a liar for using hyperbole like "best ever", "biggest ever", but when Biden says his family was hit by a drunk driver, his son died in Iraq or he was raised in a Puerto Rican slum, that's no big deal.
There's two sets of rules for the establishment.
I recall when my grandfather descended into senility he said crazy shit that never happened. Biden is senile. He should withdraw from the presidential campaign immediately.
Now you do Donnie. Why is he a congenital liar?
What did he actually lie about?
And for examples give me real lies, like what you do. Not hyperbole, metaphor or parables.
You’ve been lying about the fact that your original Sarah Palin’s Buttplug account was banned for posting dark web links to child pornography.
Or that he is a classical liberal and not a Democrat.
Except he said all of that shit before the dementia set in you demsucking retard.
#DefendBidenAtAllCosts
Dumbass, Biden said shit like that 20, 30 40 years ago. Was he senile then?
Looks like you don't understand the difference between being a filthy liar and a person that: tells tall tales, spins yarn and gaffes. The best way to tell the difference is what letter is in parenthesis after their name.
If she lies about her past around 50 more times she can become the dem nominee.

After almost three months, after taking incredible losses and an insane beating, after getting obliterated on mines, after burning thru reserves... Ukrainian forces have finally made it to within 5km of Russia's FIRST defensive line. There are four more defensive layers after that, just to hit Tokmak. Basically, the AFU has a snowball's chance in Hell of making a breakthrough.

The current regime is really into human sacrifice.
There was a reason Ukraine didn't allow men to flee the country to safety. But what if you decided to no longer identify as a man?
I don't believe Ukraine was following that particular diktat of woke.
And now they are considering narrowing the front and concentrating forces rather than running two undermanned offensives. This makes Mark's decision to halt the drive on highway 6 after the Anzio breakout so he can take Rome downright Napoleonic.

Scholars claim that statistics 'serve white racial interests'
Who is driving Germany’s far-right poll surge?
Far-right being those who were called liberals way way back in 2010.
From your link:
On this basis, 2 percent of the German population qualifies as belonging to the neo-Nazi spectrum (Rechtsradikal) and 12 percent have far-right and authoritarian views.
As Rechtsradikal yourself you would have condemned German liberals back in 2010.
As a Media Matters Führungsoffiziere you endorse actual fascism today.
It must really bother you that 99% of the world puts Nazis solidly on the far-right of the political spectrum.
Deny it all you want here at H&R. Less than 100 people actually read the comments.
The futility is all yours.
It must bother you that just because you're a corporatist, a racist, a neocon warmonger, pro-censorship and a hardcore supporter of Aktion T4 and Kirchenkampf policies, people here keep calling you a Nazi instead of a liberal.
And if less than 100 people actually read the comments maybe Media Matters or Open Society should stop paying you to post here. Seems like a waste of money.
I'm not bothered by the lies you Peanuts repeat at all.
You hate us liberals. I get it.
Nobody here hates liberals. They hate Nazis. Nazis like you.
Liberals don't push fascism, Shrike.
You're a moron.
Yesterday I was a Dem/Leftist and today I am Far-Right. You can't be that stupid.
Regardless of your politics, you’re a liar, a racist, and a misogynist that once posted a link to child pornography.
You're far-right by the definition YOU gave me of what you think constitutes far-right.
The Democrats are far-right by the definition YOU gave me of what you think constitutes far-right.
Some here call you a leftist based on the word YOU use to define yourself. I don't.
I call you a Nazi based on how the metrics the Nazis used to define themselves.
Far left and far right aren’t as different as you pretend, pluggo.
No. A loud 30% of liberals ignorant of history and trying to hide their parties ongoing racism and anti semetism use it to cover up their own views. Same thing you try with the KKK.
I mean you openly worship a man who was helping Nazis.
I see you’re still to fucking stupid to realize that they sold you a lie, like Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin weren’t all cut from the same fucking cloth.
Sad.
On this basis, 2 percent of the German population qualifies as belonging to the neo-Nazi spectrum (Rechtsradikal) and 12 percent have far-right and authoritarian views.
You see, the problem is that I don't believe their definitions of what qualifies in those categories. Is it a far-right ideology to believe that sex is defined by chromosomes? That sort of talk is actually sufficient to get you fired from some colleges. Is it far-right to say that sex is not "assigned" at birth, but only "observed" at birth? People will stage protests if a public figure says this.
What if you have an insanely controversial position like, "We must make efforts to find and eliminate voter fraud?" You might actually be prosecuted for sharing this sentiment. What if you think your country's immigration policies are catastrophic and the cost of housing refugees is getting too high? That's an extremist position, even if it was entirely a common sentiment in 2012.
"Observed" is correct. Sex isn't assigned, it's a matter of fact.
With "far right and authoritarian views" meaning they dare to question whether unlimited immigration of people with ultra-conservative religious views might not be a good thing.
If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules…that would have gotten you labeled a radical 50 years ago, a liberal 25 years ago, and a racist today. [Thomas Sowell]
The FBI likely has a case file on Oliver Anthony already, whistleblower says
There are almost certainly internal channels at Google debating what they need to do about him, as well.
Idk how personalized my Google search algorithm is, but the top results for Oliver Anthony are either insulting to him or using him to insult Republicans. I'd say Google and the media had how they want to address him covered immediately
Yeah, the wagons are circled.
Drudge had a headline 'RICHMOND' SINGER SLAMS REPUBLICANS FOR 'WEAPONIZING' SONG...
Clicked the link, read the article, not a single word in the article about being mad at Republicans, or weaponizing, or anything. Well, beyond mentioning that the song came up in the debate.
Media chickenshit right there. Print a headline with a link and assume people will just take away the headline and never read what's linked.
The Sludge Report.
Drudge Report is still around? I thought Soros would have shuttered it when he bought that bad boy.
When Nazis capture something they put it to use.

I feel very bad for these sanctuary cities that are having to actually, y'know, provide some sanctuary.
I don't.
Yeah, I was being sarcastic. I don't either. I live in a state that is part of the southern border. NYC alone has four times as many people as my whole state. 58k illegals that they invited is a drop in the fucking bucket from my POV.
Sitting there in a diner last week, having my Friday Fish Sandwich special-of-the-day, I looked through the local papers they had sitting out.
One article was about the owner of the Quality Inn in Massena, a small town about 100 miles downriver (St Lawrance Seaway) from me population ~12,000. Seems that the hotel owner owes about $350K in back taxes, sewer/water payments, etc. to the city going back some 3 years.
But he has a plan!
He will be using the 115-room hotel as a dumping ground for illegal aliens being shipped by NYC to places like the Quality Inn in Massena, which is more than 350 miles north of NYC. Seems he's already been given a lot of up-front money by NYC, as he this week paid his back taxes in full.
But his efforts may have hit a snag. Seems folks in small-towns in Upstate NY might not want or have the ability to handle large influxes of illegal aliens being offloaded onto them by the Big Apple Sanctuary.
---------
Leaders in a tiny upstate town Monday threw cold water on a castle-owning proprietor’s plan to convert his financially struggling hotel in the heart of their downtown into a migrant shelter.
“While I understand that the migrants are in a challenging situation in the large cities, how will the situation be improved in a small village in a small town without any municipal transportation and with limited healthcare?” Massena Town Supervisor Susan Bellor said to The Post.
Town of Massena board member Debra Willer said, “This was a complete surprise for us.
“I cannot speak for the entire board, as we have yet to discuss it as a group, but it does raise numerous questions for us,” she said.
Upstate hotel owner Gary Melius, who operates the renowned historic Oheka Castle hotel and catering hall in Huntington, Long Island, told The Post on Sunday that he has offered his Quality Inn in Massena to New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ administration to house migrants.
City Hall told The Post it is reviewing Melius’s offer to house migrants in Massena — which is in St. Lawrence County near the Canadian border and has a population of 12,000 people — in exchange for government payment.
Melius said he paid the $380,000 in taxes Monday.
He said the hotel has been hemorrhaging $250,000 a year because of a lack of business and claimed an influx of migrants backed by New York City funds would be a boon for Massena as well as his bottom line.
“It’s not going to impact the town. The town is dead. There’s nobody in the town. It’s a ghost town,” said Melius, who famously survived an assassination attempt outside his Oheka Castle in 2014.
“They need something to bring infusion. It ain’t going to hurt Massena.”
But he pointed out St. Lawrence County had already declared an emergency regarding migrants after seeing an increase in asylum-seekers coming across the northern border with Canada.
“We did not anticipate a flood of migrants coming from our south,” Button said.
Massena Town board member Patrick Facteau said officials can’t block a business transaction by the hotel to accept migrants — and suggested housing asylum-seekers there might not be a bad idea.
“Maybe we can put people to work,” Facteau said. “We need to move forward and do something in this town.”
The Big Apple is scrambling for new places to put the unrelenting influx of migrants.
Adams on Monday confirmed a migrant shelter will be built for 2,000 men on Randall’s Island’s kiddie soccer fields.
Dozens of adult migrants also were relocated to McCarren Park in Brooklyn over the weekend, and City Hall and emergency officials are eyeing other park sites.
An encampment has been set up on the grounds of the state Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens Village, too, and the mayor has imposed a 60-day limit on shelter stays for migrants to relieve space constraints.
Adams has redirected some migrants to some suburban and upstate hotels but also faced fierce resistance from local residents and elected officials who claim they are not not equipped to handle the influx.
Illegal immigrants — or asylum seekers, who are legal?
It is my understanding they are all asylum seekers, but I could be wrong. Do you have some source that says they are illegal?
[Disclaimer: This comment is only in the spirit of truth seeking. It is not an endorsement of the current, Democratic administration’s immigration policy or New York City’s immigration programs.]
Knowingly submitting a specious asylum claim is illegal.
“Out of Control” – Migrant State of Emergency Could Cost NY $12 Billion as Busloads Arrive Over the Southern Border
State of Emergency
The influx of migrants caused the mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, to declare a state of emergency.
[The city is shutting down a popular local park's atheletic fields, which will deny kids in the area a place to engage in their sports]
Officials have confirmed a migrant shelter will be built for 2,000 men on Randall’s Island’s kiddie soccer fields, with construction starting as early as Monday.
The influx of migrants to New York City — including hundreds arriving daily — is “stretching our system to its breaking point and beyond,” Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement.
“It has become more and more of a Herculean effort to find enough beds every night,” he said.
Hizzoner said the state would be “covering the costs” of the shelter’s construction, maintenance and staffing, although officials have yet to say how much that will be.
The city last built a shelter for migrants on the island off Manhattan in October — spending at least $625,000 — only to shut it down within a matter of weeks because of reported lack of use, given its relatively isolated location.
A Randall’s Island source said the city informed local officials Monday morning that it was erecting the massive makeshift shelter on athletic Fields 82, 83, 84 and 85 — with “construction slated to begin as early as today.”
Students Show Up to Fields Under Construction
Mamadou Bah, a high school senior, arrived at the site for soccer practice, only to find the fields were already being transformed into the shelter.
“It’s not fair,” he said, talking about the city taking away chances from the soccer players.
Several soccer coaches and community leaders voiced their outrage over the new shelter plan, arguing it would deprive the children in New York City of recreation and time outdoors.
According to the Randalls Island Park Alliance, “more than 3,000 permit hours of recreation will need to be canceled this year alone due to the migrant shelter plans.”
Housed and Fed
One migrant from Venezuela, Miguel Mujica, has no issues with his living arrangements at a newly opened shelter at McCarren Park in Brooklyn.
While he stays here, Mujica’s wife and two children stay at a different migrant hotel in Brooklyn.
Mujica said he and his family have been treated “very well” and they aren’t stopped from doing anything.
The migrant family are provided with meals, including specially prepared Venezuelan cuisine, free Wi-Fi and international calls at the center, as well as use of the park’s community pool located next door to the center.
“I brought my wife and children to the pool on Sunday, and there was no problem,” Mujica told a reporter.
The family swam from 12 pm until 5 pm and thoroughly enjoyed their time at the pool.
The migrant shelter at McCarren Park has no curfew and round-the-clock access to snacks, fruit, water, and juice.
Although there is no hot coffee, Mujica said “it’s good here.”
He also said they are mostly served Venezuelan dishes such as pasta and rice with chicken, beef, or goat.
The shelter has spacious, clean living quarters with restrooms and showers for the migrants.
Mujica is saving up money to rent a place for him and his family to live, but in the meantime, they are entitled to free food and housing.
Mayor Eric Adams urged the Biden administration to declare a state of emergency over the southern border to help officials respond to the large number of asylum seekers in New York City.
Mayor Adams said the migrant crisis will cost New York City $12 billion without state and federal aid.
Other upstate NY towns are also fighting the state from housing migrants locally...the city recently passed an ordinance preventing short-term housing lasting more than 30 days, but the state wants to contract to house migrants in hotels for longer. The ordinance was passed specifically to counter that notion, and the city got this injunction to enforce it a priori.
----------
WEST CARTHAGE, New York (WWNY) - A judge has temporarily prohibited a West Carthage motel from housing migrants.
West Carthage mayor Scott Burto got the order from state Supreme Court Justice James McClusky, who issued a directive Wednesday temporarily blocking the Pleasant Night Inn from “operating, both directly or indirectly, a long-term stay hotel.”
McClusky set September 21 for a hearing to determine whether the motel will be permanently stopped from housing migrants.
The motel’s owner has said he has no contract to house migrants, but Mayor Burto is skeptical, and concerned about Jefferson County’s ability to handle an influx of asylum seekers from downstate.
The mayor’s concern and judge’s order comes as New York City deals with thousands of migrants bussed north from the southern border, and as a new poll shows the vast majority of New Yorkers regard the migrant influx as a serious problem.
Mayor BJ of Chicago is trying to get the suburbs to take in these migrants. Most them have told him to take a long walk east off Navy Pier.
BIDENOMICS DISASTER UPDATE!
https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/BOGZ1FL192090005Q
Household Net Worth up $16 trillion since January 2021.
Inflation is our friend!
We just have to face the fact that there is simply no way to fight inflation in a capitally-intensive, highly-technological, conflict-riddled, anything-for-a-thrill world of today. That’s why, tonight, I want you to try to look at inflation in an entirely new way: Inflation is our friend.
For example, consider this: in the year 2000, if current trends continue, the average blue-collar annual wage in this country will be $568,000. Think what this inflated world of the future will mean – most Americans will be millionaires. Everyone will feel like a bigshot. Wouldn’t you like to own a $4,000 suit, and smoke a $75 cigar, drive a $600,000 car? I know I would!
Also, your chart doesn't say "Household Net Worth up $16 trillion since January 2021". Are you high?
No, he’s just an idiot.
St Louis Fed lies more than the Atlanta fed lol.
Stormy Daniels leads mocking and disbelief that Trump weighs just '215 pounds,' as his Fulton County Jail booking record says
.
"Mmmkay! And I'm 110lbs and a virgin!"
.
"I'm not a scale or a doctor but I have spent some time beneath 215lb men and Tiny was not one of them," she said, using her derogatory nickname for the former president.

Got to love Stormy. She once ran for Governor of Louisiana as a Republican.
She's not bitter about having to make monthly payments to Trump at all, huh?
It was hilarious when you #Resistance dorks made Stormy's lawyer a rockstar because he told you what you wanted to hear.
May 2018: Michael Avenatti 'Guarantees' Trump Will Resign After Giuliani's 'Bombshell' About Stormy Daniels Payment
"I mean this opens the Pandora's box into serious, serious issues for Donald Trump. I said it weeks ago, I'm going to say it again. Mr. Trump will not serve out his term. No way, no how. He will be forced to ultimately resign. This is a bombshell."
So the question becomes, is Avenatti stupid? Or did he cynically exploit the stupidity of people like you? 🙂
Actually he's stupid *and* cynical.
Michael Avenatti sentenced to 14 years in prison for stealing millions of dollars from clients
If #Resistance dorks had any self-awareness, you'd be embarrassed to revisit the whole Stormy / Avenatti thing. Avenatti worship blew up in your faces almost as bad as Mueller worship.
Unfortunately Buttplug hasn't mentally matured past age 13 so he keeps bring up Stormy because LOL PORN BIG FAKE BOOBS TINY MUSHROOM DICK SO FUNNY.
Psychopaths have no shame.

Trying to think of a definition of "ruling class" that includes Oberlin social justice activists, Black Lives Matter, and drag queens, but not the billionaire real estate mogul who was literally just president, appointed 1/3 of SCOTUS, and is even odds to be president again.
Fatass Donnie is the epitome of the ruling class, dude. He shits all over you deplorables.
He's so much the epitome of the ruling class that the ruling class have drummed up phony and frivolous charges just to try to keep him out of the election.
You say the most nonsensical shit, Shrike.
Special prosecutors like Mueller, Durham, Weiss, and Jack Smith and local DA’s are the “ruling class”?
They're powerless plebes that accomplish almost nothing.
So do you not know what plebes means, or are you just lying again?
You do realize that not one single person believes any of your bullshit, right pedo?
Mueller and Durham exonerated Trump.
Weiss, and Jack Smith and local DA’s work for the ruling class. In fact Alvin Bragg and Fani Willis were both funded by Soros who is the epitome of an oligarch.
Also learn what a plebian is you stupid fuck. Wealthy, Harvard educated, haute bourgeoisie bureaucrats aren't plebs.
It’s all about liability. I smell an insurance company and lawyers. A few months ago I wrote a user’s manual for a small simple lift cart. It was 9 pages. I had to submit it to Corporate Legal and it ballooned to 34 pages, mostly warnings, cautions and “the vendor (us) isn’t liable” statements. In all fairness part of the blame has to be placed on parents who will sue at the drop of a hat.
Yeah that's the point. They don't actually think kids will follow the rules and they don't care. They're just shutting down potential liability claims. And considering the taxpayers would get the bill I fully support them. When they start arresting kids for sitting on the slide too long let me know. But this is just boilerplate lawyering.
And it's counterproductive. When you have 42 rules you're not going to pay attention to the more important ones.

I just saw a YouTube video with Bill Gates talking about how he buys "carbon credits" to offset all his jet & power usage.
When people say they are buying carbon credits, are they actually paying money to an organization/government/person? And if so, who, & what is supposedly done with the money?
It just seems like a load of horseshit to me to con the greenies, but admit I could be wrong.
It's exactly like buying indulgences.
Scratch that, it is buying indulgences. It's okay to do a certain sin if you pay extra.
Corrupt church officials came up with the carbon credit scheme a thousand years ago, and corrupt aristocrats today have coopted it.
But who is the Catholic Church in that sernerio? Who are they paying?
I think some governments sell carbon credits, which businesses then have to buy if they want to emit in that jurisdiction. If you buy them and sit on them, then nobody is allowed to emit that carbon.
The World Economic Forum has your answer:
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/11/carbon-credits-what-how-fight-climate-change/
"buying carbon credits" = "buying up farm and forest land to escape the urban warfare zones their policies have created."
https://www.greenpeace.org.uk/news/the-biggest-problem-with-carbon-offsetting-is-that-it-doesnt-really-work/
The biggest problem with carbon offsetting is that it doesn’t really work
Airlines and oil companies love talking about carbon offsetting. But to be serious about tackling climate change, they need to stop carbon emissions from getting into the atmosphere in the first place.
Same notion from Salon.com:
y burning fossil fuels, humans release billions of tons of carbon dioxide into the air each year. Plants naturally absorb these greenhouse gases to photosynthesize. But our overconsumption of energy, especially among the ultra-rich, is overwhelming this natural system and cooking the planet. If you want to cancel out these carbon emissions, why not just plant more trees?
That's a billion-dollar idea that birthed the carbon trading system in which companies or individuals can purchase carbon "offsets" like planting trees to balance out carbon emissions. It's ballooned into a $2 billion industry since it started some 35 years ago, but new research suggests many projects intended to offset deforestation aren't reaching the net-zero emissions they promise and are actually making climate change worse.
And the BBC:
Planting trees doesn’t always help with climate change
Back when I was a kid, a list such as this would have been viewed as a list of things to do rather than a list of things not to do. That which was forbidden was attractive.
Of course, this was back in a day when if two kids were engaged in a physical fight teachers stuck with "playground duty" would usually just monitor it from afar and would often let it naturally resolve itself if it wasn't getting out of hand or it wasn't a mismatch (such as a sixth grader vs a third grader). If it was between kids who "hung out together" it was less likely to be stopped as it was viewed as just working out differences and learning how to deal with conflict (discovering that there are often no winners in a physical combat is a useful lesson to learn when you're nine years old rather than when you're nineteen years old).
Most parents won't read the rules, and most kids won't be able to. The older kids who have learned to read and use their new skill to read that sign are the ones who will be very disappointed by what's on it.
These days, I'm not so sure that the older kids and parents can actually read the rules either.
Illiteracy is much more common than most people realize. You can't assume people can read.
Hilarious

THE FIRED UKRAINIAN PROSECUTOR GENERAL SPEAKS
We’ve all seen the clip a thousand times. Speaking to a group of foreign policy experts at a 2018 Council on Foreign Relations event, President Joe Biden boasted that he threatened to hold back $1 billion of U.S. aid unless then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko fired Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, who was investigating corruption inside energy company Burisma Holdings. Shokin’s office was also looking into the activities of Ukrainian oligarch Mykola Zlochevsky, the company’s founder and then-owner. At the time, Hunter Biden was earning a cool million dollars per year to sit on Burisma’s board of directors.
No jumping from swings? Then what's the point?
Look, it's never too early to teach kids about arbitrary rules and the power of the state. With a posted sign, they can next learn about random enforcement, occasional excess LE violence, and how to blame it on racism.
Beware the slippery slope when they start to make too many playground rules at the top of a slide.
Let's see, when I was a kid, we had: jungle gyms (can't call them that now) about 20 feet high, monkey bars (can't call them that now) for monkey bar combat, teeter totters you could jump off to surprise the chump on the other end, ropes to climb to the top of the gym (don't worry, there was a one inch padded mat if you fell 20 feet), merry-go-rounds you could get trapped under or go flying off (for an early understanding of centrifugal force). Not to mention real trees to climb, huge piles of plowed snow from the climate-change fueled blizzards (especially 1977), and steps to skateboard down.
But most of us made it out okay, with just a few broken bones to show for it.
I remember those merry-go-rounds. The playgrounds that had 'em always had pea gravel as the bedding layer, and I'd fill the merry-go-round up and level it out into a one thick layer over the whole surface, and then spin it up and watch the stuff tumble off. Ah, to be a six year old performing physics experiments again...
And I got so many godsdamned palm blisters from those monkey bars. Ugh.
Meanwhile, woke Canada prepares for the eventual far-right takeover of the USA, in case literal Hitler clone Trump turns us into a literal Gilead from the literal Handmaid's Tale:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12449007/Canadian-lawmaker-game-plan-DICTATORSHIP-election.html
And it's not authoritarian to prevent wrong-thinking populists from winning elections, it's defending democracy:
During the same discussion, she said the issue of how Canada prevents the growth of the far-right is being looked at more widely. 'The other aspect of the question is more about knowing how we as a democracy are able to thwart the growth of the far-right in our country, because it’s happening in the United States, it’s happening in Europe,' she said.
I don't know how anyone survived into adulthood for thousands of years, playing as children without these kinds of rules and warnings in place.
I'm thinking back to when I was a kid - and wow, I used to jump from the swings at apex height, and go down the slides head first.
My existence past the age of 10 is obviously the thing of miracles and divine intervention.
No playing? But where is the definition of playing? How do we know if a child is playing, or doing something else? The rule writer better get busy again!
Is there a playground monitor to make sure the 2 to 5 year olds read and understand the "rules"?
Way back when I was a kid (K-4 [1958 - 1963] in a suburb of Sacramento) there was no "authority" on the playground at all until it was time to come back in after recess (I know, we were older than 2 - 5 year olds), and there was no soft coating on the playground, it was asphalt. All the play was kid organized, no teachers at all.
Yes, they have a seven-year-old with an armband, a whistle, and a citation book.
Would the author have had an equivalent hissy fit if the playground was privately owned? If I owned a playground or something equivalent (like a Dave & Buster’s), you bet your sweet bippy I’d
post rules to follow.
Well, considering she didn’t have a “hissy fit” above, seems unlikely she would have a “hissy fit” if it were a private playground.
Not surprised that you fantasize about owning a playground.
a playground that's for 2- to 5-year-olds
So, where are the rules about naked groping?
Wretched. Much appreciate your keeping on top of these atrocities, educating us about them! FWIW, the one measure I DO support is the no loitering at the BOTTOM of slides. I have felt imperiled many times reaching the bottoms or tops of escalators. If people are loitering there, I have nowhere to go, yet people behind me on the escalator are bearing down. I see loitering at the bottom of a slide to be a similar hazard--no matter the age. Kids must be instructed, learn, to get out of the way. This isn't a matter where kids can safely learn from failures. Such loitering caused me, others many injuries at school research. Many more had I not been an athletic, tall man, who knew enough to physically barge through loiterers as necessary blocking my scrambling out of harm's way. No injuries I recall at home, Scouting--where this rule underscored, enforced. Along with freedom on the other fronts you mention. I'm surprised you've had no close calls with escalator loitering. Some people seem clueless, inexperienced w/ these.
