Sen. Chris Murphy Wants the Government To Help You Make Friends
Plus: Ohio drag bill models Tennessee measure declared unconstitutional, setting "Taco Tuesday" free, and more...

Is there any social issue that elected officials don't think they can solve? Loneliness is a highly complex phenomenon, produced by an interplay of cultural components and personal psychological attributes. One senator thinks he can fix it with bureaucracy and "public awareness."
On Tuesday, Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy announced the introduction of his "National Strategy for Social Connection," a bill that would create "a federal office to combat the growing epidemic of American loneliness, develops anti-loneliness strategies, and fosters best practices to promote social connection," as Murphy put it.
The idea that the federal government can solve loneliness is naive and laughable. If there is an "epidemic of loneliness" in America—a big if—its causes are surely so diverse that no group of bureaucrats is going to dislodge it. And certainly not with the silly solutions Murphy proposes.
Murphy's bill would create an "Office of Social Connection Policy to advise the president on loneliness and isolation," order federal agencies to implement a "national strategy on social connection," and start a public awareness campaign to educate people about fostering connections.
"Similar to existing national guidelines on nutrition, sleep, and physical activity, the Office would issue research-based best practices on how to better engage and connect with our local communicates," Murphy's summary of the bill states.
U.S. nutrition guidelines, of course, have a long history of being ridiculously unscientific and plagued by cronyism. And whatever one thinks about nutrition and physical activity guidelines today, there's no denying that Americans are massively overweight and way too sedentary. So, I'd hardly call these things models of efficacy.
In fact, national guidelines on how to be less lonely are bound to work about as well as nutrition and physical fitness guidelines have: not at all.
The whole project seems designed to create work for people at federal agencies (and ostensibly good press for Murphy). They would be tasked with coming up with ways to promote "social connection" in areas including "transportation, housing, health, education, and labor," just like officials across federal agencies are now ordered to consider things like equity, race, and sustainability when designing or enacting any policies. Everything would take a little longer and cost a little more, with likely no discernible difference in the actual lives of Americans.
The most tangible thing Murphy's plan would do is give more money to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to study loneliness—another effort that seems destined to increase government budgets but have little real-world impact on isolation or social connection.
Moving beyond the pointlessness of Murphy's proposal, there's also something a little creepy and dystopian about it. The federal government is meant to concern itself with national security and monetary policy, not whether Americans have enough friends.
What's next, a national trivia-night network? Social wellness screenings on public buses? Federal subsidies for bowling leagues?

Ohio Republicans introduce bill to ban drag shows in public. A new anti-drag performance bill introduced by Ohio Republicans is "similar to Tennessee's," reports WCMH. That Tennessee law was recently declared unconstitutional. But since when do crusading public officials let little things like constitutionality stop them from enlisting taxpayers in a culture war? Hence Ohio House Bill 245, introduced Monday, which would ban "adult cabaret performances" from public places.
The bill defines "adult cabaret performances" as material "harmful to juveniles or obscene" featuring either "topless dancers; go-go dancers; exotic dancers; strippers" or "entertainers who exhibit a gender identity that is different from the performers' or entertainers' gender assigned at birth using clothing, makeup, prosthetic or imitation genitals or breasts, or other physical markers; or other similar performers or entertainers who provide entertainment that appeals to a prurient interest." Such performances could only take place in "a nightclub, bar, juice bar, restaurant, bottle club or similar establishment" that regularly features performances or art of a sexual nature.
"Reps. Josh Williams (R-Sylvania) and Angela King (R-Celina) are proposing the bill with the support of 41 out of 67 Ohio House Republican representatives," notes WCMH:
The 43 lawmakers outline the following penalties if entertainers are found violating the proposed law:
A misdemeanor of the first degree if a performance occurs in the presence of a juvenile under the age of 18.
A felony of the fifth degree if the performance is "obscene."
A felony of the fourth degree if the performance is "obscene" and occurs in the presence of a juvenile under the age of 13.

You can now celebrate "Taco Tuesday" freely (unless you live in New Jersey). The phrase "Taco Tuesday" was trademarked by the fast food chain Taco John's, but Taco Bell filed a petition with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to cancel the trademark. Taco John's said Tuesday that it would no longer fight the petition because doing so was too costly. From the Wall Street Journal:
Taco John's has owned the trademark on Taco Tuesday since 1989 in every state except New Jersey. Gregory's Restaurant & Bar, a restaurant in the Jersey Shore city of Somers Point, owns the trademark in New Jersey.
Taco Bell filed a separate petition in May seeking to cancel Gregory's trademark as well. Greg Gregory, whose family owns Gregory's, said in June the restaurant would attempt to defend its trademark.
Any restaurant in the U.S. except in New Jersey can now legally use Taco Tuesday now that Taco John's has given up defending its trademark. Previously, Taco John's would send cease-and-desist letters to restaurants that used the term.

Either way, I must give you props here. 🙂
Has anyone ever responded to a spam ad?
Other than to be an irritating asshole, I don’t know why anyone would post spam.
They sure aren’t getting rich off it, and every ad is almost the same, which is a big clue even for stupid people it is a scam.
It is the new electronic version of the old back page magazine ads, make money stuffing envelopes. No one responded to those ads either.
Here's Jesse Singal with a good diatribe about confusing "sex," "gender," and "gender identity."
But Scott Shackford told me transwomen literally are 100% female in every possible way.
Non-birthing bonus holes
Oh, they birth something all right. It usually stinks and gets flushed or clogs the toilet.
Tony says black, white or yellow they are all brown on the inside.
Or red when he's done with them.
Is Tony gone? I haven’t seen the mincing Marxist poof around here for awhile.
He was around the other day.
Tony pops up here and there, usually after everyone's left the thread so he doesn't get his head pounded in too much. After he got outed as a postmodernist POS about a month or two ago, he's kind of laid low like that.
Is he really the best person to make that assessment? NTTAWWT
Not just the same, but better.
And if you don't agree, and dump your current wife or girlfriend, you are racist.
As I saw online --- if genitals do not equate to gender, why does altering them affirm gender?
Because FYTW

Easy. Affirming beliefs within the church (DNC-progressive-woke academia-media-Hollywood-BLM combine) is good. Affirming the beliefs of heretics (MAGA Nazis) is bad.
And if 13 year old girls can’t get boob jobs, how are they having them cut off?
If they can’t add, how can they subtract?
Sigh. Remember when the left was horrified at the idea of teens getting fake tits?
None of this discussion means anything to me. I use the terms interchangeably and don't worry about them at all. If anyone gets upset over it, the damn pansies can just get over it.
Is there any social issue that elected officials don't think they can solve?
Well, that they can't get votes off of.
Who doesn't want the lonely vote?
Father McKenzie?
Nice
Doesn't he do what while darning his socks in the night?
After he dusts off the dirt from burying lonely Elenor Rigby.
Funny, when you read the lyrics it almost reads like a SQRLSY post.
Is SQRLSY the Father McKenzie of the Church of Squirrels?

You can now celebrate "Taco Tuesday" freely (unless you live in New Jersey).
Tacox Tuesday.
What about Takos?
Is that the Greek version of tacos served with Creme' Tzatziki?
My family, which is WAY more Mexican than any of the above mentioned places, has been using the phrase 'Taco Tuesday' since at least 1981. I don't remember anything before that.
Here's a thought: Claim "cultural appropriation" against every Zoomer you hear using the term "Taco Tuesday!"
You'll guilt-trip them and have them wrapped around your finger! The males will want your burrito in their mouth and the ladies will be offering up their own "tacos" as "reparations!" And think of the action from the Trans! 🙂
If 44 percent of these little punks want to criminalize misgendering speech, they need a taste of their own medicine...loaded up with ghost pepper! 🙂
You can't say Taco Tuesday in NJ. So just shut the fuck up abottit.
What about TwoCox Tuesday? Any geographic limitation on that appellation for "socially active" young "ladies"?
Ohio Republicans introduce bill to ban drag shows in public.
If they would ban clown shows in general, then I can get onboard. Scary.
Would the bill prohibit the showing of reruns of Dana Carvey (aka the Church Lady), Flip Wison (aka Geraldene), the movie "Some Like it Hot", or most of Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Only in public.
Because, you know, those tupes of comedy are the same thing as shows having prepubescents stuffing dollar bills into a performer's lingerie.
That's bullshit, the story that you rednecks keep referencing didn't involve a drag queen or transgender performer. It occurred at a restaurant in Texas that had a family burlesque night, the performer in question was a cis female, born female, identified as female, dressed in female clothing. So maybe it was inappropriate to have such a performance for families, but it has nothing to do with drag shows at all.
Cute that you are so angry. Anger covers up your idiocy well.
Flush may be an idiot, but Flush’s account is factual.
Burlesque probably isn't appropriate for minors either. BTW, "cis" is a slur.
They out themselves when using terms like "cis". Just another lame ass leftist virtue signal.
Flush used the prefix, “cis”, but still Flush’s account was factual.
I like how you think that is the only incident that has happened. Intentional ignorance is a leftists drug though.
For true believers, public ignorance is a virtue.
Like the widely-circulated photos that supposedly showed this happening and then turned out to be photos of a biological female. Gotta love exaggerated moral panics!
Hey they have the same talking point! Ignore the dozens of other examples that have been posted.
In case you're wondering, I don't want strippers dancing in front of children either. This wasn't the "gotcha" you were hoping for.
It wasn’t a “gotcha”. It was a factual correction. We all agree that facts matter, right?
It also wasn’t an endorsement of children stuffing money in biological females’ g-strings. For the record, I don’t approve of children stuffing money in anyone’s g-string.
And thank you for acknowledging that I didn’t use “cis” in my comment. You’ve made it clear you disdain people who do that.
It wasn't a factual correction as there are multiple incidents. It is apparently the leftist talking point to dismiss all incidents though.
And I wasn’t wondering. I assume everyone here doesn’t approve of strippers dancing in front of children.
Talk to Jeff.
How about minstrel shows?
Drag minstrel?
Sounds like that might be up Justin Trudeau's alley.
Is that minstrel or menstrual?
Too messy
Well played! 🙂
Seeing as the laws generally add a sexual designation to the law, no dumdum.
Well, the performance has to be “prurient” so the standard is whether any of the Ohio legislators get funny feelings while watching.
Yeah it has nothing to do with flopping ladydick out in public, and in front of minors, which would generally be two crimes in one, but is somehow OK at Pride parades and drag shows.
It all has to do with some repressed conservative busybody gets a chubby when he sees Tyler Perry dressed up as Madea.
It does have a lot to do with conservatives weird penchant for descrIbing all drag shows as prurient. Eye of the beholder and all that.
Here's an example:
https://youtu.be/3RUMQOXoG8o?t=1040
I don’t doubt you can find a few examples.
Is that acceptable?
What are you asking: whether it is acceptable that you found an example, or whether the behavior in the video is acceptable?
It is acceptable that you found an example. I’ve never said there have been absolutely no occurrences of drag shows that were inappropriate for children.
As for the second question, I didn’t watch the video. I usually don’t watch videos that people link to here. Im typically not in a place where I can stream videos in privacy and they are usually a waste of time.
Who said all? Do you have an example?
You mean treat drag as the comedic laughingstock it is?
I doubt trannies would be on board with drag ONLY being doable for the sake of silliness.
You know...they could just NOT perform it in front of minors....
And how exactly did you become a subject matter expert on the mindset of transgender people?
By the way, changing one’s gender surgically is the opposite of dressing in drag. Transgender and transvestism are not equivalents. You are conflating the two.
So youre finally against GAC. Thanks mike!
THEY are conflating the two. I'm just going along with their idiocy.
...revealing a story far worse than previously believed.
CAN'T WE ALL JUST MOVE ON FROM WHO SAID WHAT DURING THE COVID. Water under the bridge that totally wasn't burned to ash.
That is actually not a bad suggestion.
Why is nursing a punishment boner so central to so many partisans? Is this issue really what you want to dedicate your personal time to?
Some nazi guards wished people would forget as well.
Whoosh
You say this because you know that you and your ilk deserve wood chipper.
It is an issue for me because I missed the part where they said they would never do it again.
If only there were some guiding document that would set clear limits on how our elected leaders should behave towards the people in general. My suggestion would be a requirement that they swear to uphold it.
I've heard of a document like that. But I also heard that the old, white men that wrote it owned slaves, so...
I have heard just the opposite from quite a few of the Covid Crisis Cult leaders. "We need to be better prepared for the next time we do this."
That doesn't sound like someone who has learned that it was wrong.
I mean, I know several people whose parents or grandparents died alone, and they weren't allowed to visit, and weren't allowed to have a funeral, and for which Covid wasn't even a contributing factor to the cause of death.
I wouldn't be too quick to forgive about that. I would want some sort of consequences. I'm glad it didn't happen to me.
On the other hand, I'm *very* concerned about all of the state and local executives and federal level bureaucrats who just assumed all of these unconstitutional powers and began issuing unilateral edicts. That's a big issue.
It's a huge issue. 'We're just going to suspend the constitution whenever we decide it's an emergency' means we don't actually HAVE a constitution. People need to be fired, impeached, imprisoned, hung, shot for that sort of breach of public trust.
I mean, I know several people whose parents or grandparents died alone, and they weren’t allowed to visit, and weren’t allowed to have a funeral, and for which Covid wasn’t even a contributing factor to the cause of death.
My dad died alone in 2021. He was hospitalized for eight fucking days without any visitors. My family members (uncles, cousins, etc) swore if this shit happens again, we storm the facility. We even discussed inviting the family members of other patients.
^ this right here!
The first time I heard about this in 2020, I promised my mother that there was no way I would ever leave her alone in a hospital. I have finally gotten her to move from Illinois to Texas, which greatly reduces the chance I would have to threaten hospital staff at gunpoint.
This is one of the primary reason I lost all trust in medical experts and their associations over COVID. The policies were cruel and completely out of proportion to the actual risk. Those policies can also be seen as confirmation that doctors accepted from the beginning and throughout that masks were ineffective to prevent transmission.
I have finally gotten her to move from Illinois to Texas, which greatly reduces the chance I would have to threaten hospital staff at gunpoint.
My dad died in a Victoria, TX hospital. Just FYI
Sigh. That could prove to be a wrinkle. I won't be able to assume that only security are armed.
I’m sorry that happened to your family.
I’m sorry that you happened to your family.
You aren't though as you defended the shit.
You are doing the thing you do a lot: jumping contexts. We were talking about one group of people, and you’ve suddenly expanded the discussion to decisions made by local hospital managers.
We were talking about one group of people, and you’ve suddenly expanded the discussion to decisions made by local hospital managers.
The decisions were not made by hospital managers. This shit was forced upon everyone by gov't agencies.
Was your father at Kootenai Health?
His father died in Texas, as he mentioned above.
Oh, I missed that.
Still, a bunch of international scientists suppressing how SARS-CoV-2 originated in China has no bearing on hospital policy in Victoria, TX.
Talk about jumping contexts. You're such a vile piece of shit.
That had substance.
There's a lot of blame to spread around, to a lot of different types of individuals, doing various types of jobs.
Most of the local officials I know about issuing edicts, or the corporate policy makers at people's offices, or the hospital administrators, or the county health department, were all able to hide behind the excuse of 'we were just following CDC guidelines/recommendations!' - but they weren't able to explain where exactly they derived that power, or even where the CDC derived that power. (Other than the corporate policymakers who can do what they want until the shareholders revolt)
There needs to be a reckoning.
Sure, a rational, lawful reckoning so that the same thing doesn’t happen again.
“Fauci should hang!” on the other hand, is just having a partisan anger boner.
Now do slavery.
Right, these assholes should just be allowed to get away with massive crimes against humanity.
It's actually really fucking important that nothing like the covid response be allowed to happen again. This isn't some weird punishment obsession. It's about the future of human liberty and flourishing. It must not be forgiven or forgotten.
Probably half the population would do it again tomorrow if instructed to do so. Some would do so purely out of spite for those who would refuse.
Yeah, probably. I'm hoping that the other half would refuse to go along at all if it happens again. I still can't fucking believe how many people either think it was all OK or that it was honest mistake, fog of war or some such bullshit.
Now do the relentless attacks on Trump by Dems...
Once there is some indication that authoritarian leaders and the pajama class have learned a lesson, I personally would be okay moving on. However, I have seen nothing that leads me to believe draconian (and false) mitigation policies would not be repeated wholesale if the powers were allowed to engineer another avenue.
"Sen. Chris Murphy"
A Democrat. of course. They feel that they can solve any problem with proper application of your money.
And removal of your liberty.

What good is linking to the diatribe about gender & sex when it is paywalled?
The feeling of smug superiority?
Still not as good as the original blue check.
I was able to read the whole thing
The free intro is enough to get discussion going. I’ve been complaining about the equivocation between sex and gender for years. It's enough for me to know I'm not the only one — that others take this seriously. Equivocation what has allowed this mishigos about identity to go on. First they act like gender is different from sex, which is true. Then they say gender is arbitrary, which is also true. Then they say gender is really sex, so sex is arbitrary, which is a lie.
Groomers are looking to make minor friends.
"Here's Jesse Singal with a good diatribe about confusing "sex," "gender," and "gender identity."
Here's Jesse Singal to lie about the etymology of "sex," "gender," and "gender identity."
"My understanding of the “traditional,” liberal sex/gender divide is that sex is your physical body, and gender is the expectations, mores, assumptions, and other cultural stuff you encounter as a result of being seen as male or female."
Look at how he sticks “traditional” in there, when it was actually John Money who decided on differing meanings in the 60's which started getting pushed in the late 90's by the alphabet sex cult.
Sex and Gender always meant the same thing because they came to English from different languages where they carried the same meaning.
Sex from Latin sexus "a sex, state of being either male or female". Gender came from Old French gendre, meaning "race, family, species and biological sex,"
It's really weird how the Singals and Chemjeffs of the world think that they can gaslight us over a forced meaning shift that only was mainstreamed a decade ago.
There's also the technical linguistic sense of gender. But yeah, for the most part they have been more or less synonymous. I don't think it's completely useless to discuss biological sex and typical cultural ways of behaving as distinct things. But it's absolutely ridiculous to treat it as if sex and the cultural things relating to sex are totally distinct and arbitrarily determined.
They are not TOTALLY distinct. They are related. But they are not synonymous either.
In the end, to me, it comes down to free will. What do we have the power to change about ourselves? We have the power to change about ourselves that which is not biologically programmed within us. And we are NOT biologically programmed to wear certain clothes or to have certain occupations based on sex. People mocked Gillespie for his 'Promethean transformation' comment but he is right. There is something to be said about the person who defies all social conventions and stretches the limit of what is possible based on radical exercise of free will. It may not be a wise or prudent choice but there is some respect to be had for that type of thinking.
There is something to be said about the person who defies all social conventions and stretches the limit of what is possible based on radical exercise of free will. It may not be a wise or prudent choice but there is some respect to be had for that type of thinking.
Perhaps, but I draw the line when they expect me to change my behavior in order to satisfy their feelings. At that point they can go fuck themselves.
They often are synonymous. People use sex and gender interchangeably pretty often. When you talk about the gender of an electrical connector, you aren't talking about the social conventions they adhere to.
I do appreciate people who defy social conventions (within reason). But I also think that if everyone did that, it would be a disaster. Social conventions don't exist for no reason.
No, but you're also not talking about electric connectors having sex.
Except the claim made by transgender activists is that gender identity is not a matter of free will. It is a matter of being driven by some kind of internal imperative, origin perhaps no well understood, hence the threat of suicide if not affirmed in all ways (even when it makes no sense, like for medical issues) by the rest of society. One cannot have an inherent identification with something which is only a social construct.
The problem with your argument is that it is inherently contradicted by what the activists claim.
gender identity is not a matter of free will
Free will does not exist - only the illusion of free will does. Now autonomy certainly exists. Self determination exists. But we are all products of our genetic and lived compositions.
No, free will does exist. Exercising free will can be hard, and it can require challenging a lot of assumptions that maybe we don't want to challenge. But we have the *capacity* to do so.
That most people choose to just meander through life swimming with the current, doe not prove that we don't have the capability of swimming against the current.
How do you know that you are not programmed to swim against the current?
Don't forget that turd, the ass-clown of the commentariat, lies; it’s all he ever does. turd is a kiddie diddler, and a pathological liar, entirely too stupid to remember which lies he posted even minutes ago, and also too stupid to understand we all know he’s a liar.
If anything he posts isn’t a lie, it’s totally accidental.
turd lies; it’s what he does. turd is a lying pile of lefty shit.
What if swimming against the current is stupid?
If the most impactful "decision" in your life (gay or straight) is pre-determined why aren't all lesser decisions?
Sounds rather Calvinist.
Free will doesn't negate cause and effect. I really don't see free will as in conflict with determinism. We don't do things for no reason. That doesn't mean we aren't free to act.
How can we be free to act if everything's done for a reason?
Can a gay man *choose* to sleep with a woman?
Can a straight man *choose* to sleep with a man?
Yes, the former happened in dozens of Royal marriages by men who wanted a heir, and the latter by thousands of drug-addled young men who needed some meth (e.g. Tiger King).
Of course it exists. If I decide to do something that's possible for me to do, I do it.
What if you were predetermined to decide that way?
The way I see it, the only way to have free will is spiritually. Otherwise we are all just predetermined by physical and chemical reactions in our brains, bodies and environment, or worse, we are randomly determined by quantum physics.
If we have free will, our soul must have the ability to manipulate physical things in order to make our bodies move and interact with the universe. If our brains control our bodies, our souls must control our brains. If we accept neuroscience, that must take place on a on a subatomic scale.
Shit, and I didn't even take anything today.
Seems like that's just pushing the question out one more level. How do you know souls don't also follow deterministic natural laws?
I really think it's a mostly meaningless and uninteresting question. As far as I can see there is absolutely no way to answer it. Only one thing actually does happen. We have no access to what might have been. All that matters is that it is beneficial to behave as if people have free will.
The quantum uncertainty possibility is a lot less bad if you think about it in terms of the many worlds interpretation rather than the probabilistic.
How do you know souls don’t also follow deterministic natural laws?
True, I’m just positing that it’s necessary, but not sufficient to have a soul/spirit in order to have free will.
I really think it’s a mostly meaningless and uninteresting question. As far as I can see there is absolutely no way to answer it.
Sorry about that. I agree there’s no way to answer it, but I do find it interesting. I have interests in both philosophy and physics so….
The quantum uncertainty possibility is a lot less bad if you think about it in terms of the many worlds interpretation rather than the probabilistic.
I think that’s the worst case scenario. Determinism in a infinite number of ways.
You cannot claim autonomy and self determination exist but free will dies not. Free will may have constraints on it for certain situations, but if it does not exist entirely then neither do the other two concepts.
So if a robot at Amazon decides to pick an item from bin A instead of another bin that is free will?
On the part of the person programming the computer and the person who chose the item. A robot can only do what its programming tells it to do, unlike an animal.
As I understand it, the prevailing theory is that gender identity is established in kids in early childhood, around 3-5 years old. If that gender identity differs from one's biological sex, then it can create problems that become particularly acute once puberty begins. At that point, it is up to the individual to *choose* what to do. The point is that to resolve this dilemma, there is no biological imperative to have the gender identity conform to biological sex. That is the exercise of free will.
claiming gender is no longer sex is like saying the sky is green when it is blue. How many lights are on, 5 or 4 Pickard
forcing people to accept is not acceptence or the truth
What process establishes an irreversible identification with a mere social construct by ages 3 to 5 that would cause such emotional distress? Your dismissal of gender roles and dress as mere unimportant social convention is directly contradicted by the rest of the theory. They must be more than mere social conventions.
You may want to check with an expert.
My grandson has informed me that girls have boobs and boys have a penis. As he doesn't start his indoctrination until August, I am assuming he has his facts straight at this point.
But the activists claim both sides! They equivocate to try to make their point. So they're the ones contradicting themselves.
Chemjeff doesn't understand what he's defending. For a long time, the left has treated biological sex and gender as interchangeable at times and distinct things at other times. It's typical leftist bullshit for the most part, their usual tactical equivocation regarding language and concepts, but the distinction between sex (biological, immutable) and gender in terms of gender roles/presentation/etc. (sociocultural, mutable) was at least useful in some discussions. But now that they want to claim anyone can be a woman, they are acting as though biological sex is what's mutable and gender roles are innate. Chemjeff often acts as though it's critics of gender ideology who conflate gendered behavior with biology, but it's the activists and groomers he defends who do that. In fact, by the standards of what they consider "transphobic," many of the things Chemjeff has said here would be considered transphobic.
Facts change!
https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=sex%2Cgender&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&corpus=en-2019&smoothing=3 and see how before about 1970 the word "gender" had very little use, and then it shot up, especially and accelerating after 1980.
Hey ML, yesterday you wrote: “I’ve yet to see you tell the truth.”
Well, yesterday I wrote: “all partisan sites lie to a certain extent”
Is that phrase true or not?
Morning you piece of shit. Did you ignore my response last night on purpose?
You included that excerpt as part of a larger lie, so it was part of your general dishonesty.
Seriously, do you think these little games your trying to play aren’t transparent?
“all partisan sites lie to a certain extent”
Is that phrase true or not?
Not in the original context you used it in:
"“So, if that is true – and I agree, that all partisan sites lie to a certain extent – then shouldn’t it be a point of pride that the non-right-leaning posters aren’t citing stories from partisan left-wing sites like salon.com, as opposed to right-leaning posters who ARE citing stories from partisan right-wing sites like conservativetreehouse.com?”
You can't do it. You cannot admit you were wrong in my presence.
Because you must "refute" me at every turn even when I am right, even when you are caught to be wrong. That is your dishonesty.
It is just too much for you.
It was a part of a lie.
By trying to get me to agree to an excerpt from your lie, you'll then claim I agreed or acquiesced to the lie itself.
In full:
"“So, if that is true – and I agree, that all partisan sites lie to a certain extent – then shouldn’t it be a point of pride that the non-right-leaning posters aren’t citing stories from partisan left-wing sites like salon.com, as opposed to right-leaning posters who ARE citing stories from partisan right-wing sites like conservativetreehouse.com?”
These pathetic attempts at sophistry aren't tricking anyone, Jeffy.
Hey ML, yesterday I cited a study put forth by researchers from the London School of Economics.
You then tried to claim the study was invalid because the school had been founded by socialists over 100 years ago.
Wouldn't you agree that your argument is an example of the genetic fallacy?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_fallacy
Didn't the LSE produce Hayek?
No wonder ML despises that school.
Oh he dishonestly tried to explain that away too. You see, the LSE *also* hosted Keynes.
He is just a dishonest shitweasel. He argues against me even when I am right.
He argues against me even when I am right.
That's because he argues against people, not what people say.
Yup because he is insecure. He is afraid to stand confidently on his beliefs and so he resorts to tribal loyalty instead.
I think he simply lacks the intelligence to debate ideas. He’s one of those people who, when smart people talk about things that go over his head, starts calling those people stupid and attacks them personally. Great minds discuss ideas, mediocre minds discuss events, while ML and his troll buddies discuss people. And get this, RC is so abysmally stupid that he interprets that to mean smart people don’t ever discuss people. This forum is proof that half the people out there are of below average intelligence.
Love how you are talking about a person and not ideas as you complain about other talking about people and not ideas.
Would love for you to cite the last time you had meaningful debate here.
But at least Jeff has a half retarded puppy to defend him now.
It's certainly amusing to see the discussion between these three.
Ideas!
Funny, because I don't find discussions between ML, JA, RC, Dlam, Chucky, and you to be amusing, entertaining or interesting. Just catty, boorish and dull.
Yeah, but it's not everyday you see the pederast, lying weasel, and commentariat drunk involved in a discussion like this. It has the feeling of watching a movie and seeing the discussion between the antagonists over how much they hate the protagonists.
Now that is amusing. Because I don’t hate anybody except my ex wife. Whereas every reply from ML or JA or Chucky drips with hatred. If anything I pity them for being so stupid that they don't know they're stupid.
You just spent a half dozen posts talking about someone.
The best part is all 3 of you claim you aren’t tribalists while being in a tribe.
And please cite mine or MLs hatred of you. He makes fun of how stupid you are and laughs at you. So do I. You’re a clown.
I can also post actual examples of you threatening people here. Want to play? I have never done so. Yet you do that often lol.
I'll cop to hating them, but my hate is boundless.
He contributed to a lot of fun parody songs a few days ago
Oh good. This can be an analysis of ML's shaky mental state.
He is completely off the deep end on abortion. Who else would name themself "Mothers Lament"? Like many conservatives he starts off anti-abortion and back-fills his other conservative positions weakly.
Paul Hill comes to mind.
He is one of the few people around here who really does think that mothers who seek abortion should go to jail. Not even most anti-abortion conservatives go that far.
He is a social conservative who doesn't understand why he is a social conservative. That is just "how things should be".
ML needs order in the world.
But as most of us know there is no set of instructions in life. Libertarians know that we discover this on our own.
Theocrats like ML find order in religion. Religion guides him and provides order.
Religion also teaches respect, and ML has none. So I doubt he's religious.
Eh - most if not all religions of the world have justified all number of atrocities against the 'heretics'. Respect is reserved for the believers and the 'worthy'.
Weren't you just the other day saying that dishonest people talk about fringe lunatics as if they are representative of the whole in order to create strawmen that are easy to knock down?
But the Spanish Inquisition wasn't 'fringe lunatics'. It was Catholic doctrine at the time.
The Thirty Years' War, fought in large part as a religious conflict between Catholics and Protestants, wasn't between 'fringe lunatics'.
There ARE religious fringe lunatics who shouldn't be taken as representative of the whole religion. People like David Koresh for example. But that is not always the the case.
I'm actually proud of this thread.
The fact that I've made you three mendacious cunts rage gives me a warm glow.
It's like getting hated on by Hitler, John Wayne Gacy and Robert Downey Jr.'s liver.
I should show it to my mom.

But it's true. Just read yesterday's conversation in the Roundup. I make obviously true statements and obviously correct arguments and he cannot admit they are true and he cannot acknowledge the legitimacy of the arguments. He has to resort to tricks and fallacies to avoid doing so. Because he is intellectually dishonest, and he receives support and encouragement in his dishonesty by tribal support from his allies here.
You tried to call the LSE, a Fabian Society indoctrination hive, as an impartial source. That ranks up there with Shrike claiming the same about Media Matters.
Your argument is an example of the genetic fallacy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_fallacy
That the LSE was founded by socialists is completely irrelevant to the merits or lack thereof of the study that I cited.
The Fabian Society continues to this day to comprise all of the LSE's council, academic board and governance team.
Afraid in this case your Wikipedia link doesn't apply here, Shill.
Genetic fallacy.
Jeff, you're seldom right.
And I'll note you don't see ML whining about "mean girls" cliques as you and your pit yorkies do.
Says one of the Mean Girls. LOL.
*Criticized for whining about mean girls*
*Promptly calls damikesc a "mean girl"*
Never change, White Mike.
Duck. The point flying over your head MIGHT hit you.
Why would ML complain? He gets loads of support from his tribal allies like you. He can count on about a dozen people to rush to his defense whenever anyone says anything critical about him even if the criticism is justified.
I have yet to see you or, frankly, anyone call him a liar or dishonest for anything that he has written.
"He gets loads of support from his tribal allies like you. He can count on about a dozen people to rush to his defense whenever anyone says anything critical about him even if the criticism is justified."
And yet everyone here hates you. Even Sarcasmic and Buttplug only cling to you out of necessity.
But it's somehow everyone else's fault that you're vehemently disliked. Not poor Jeffy's.
Jeff, you’re seldom right.
I'm often right, and people like you can't admit it.
I’m often right, and people like you can’t admit it.
Only within the realm and bounds of your own mind.
Mick Jagger went to school there with plans to become a politician. I assume that means ML has shitty taste in music.
Mick Jagger went to the London School of Economics?
Then I guess that according to ML, the Rolling Stones is a front for global socialism!
Lol. That's certainly what some economics papers claimed in the past.
New Left in Victorian Drag: The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus

It’s Newspeak and nothing else.
How many definitions have been altered to satisfy the leftists’ thirst for power and control?
A recent example is the word "care" as in “gender affirming care”.
The list goes on and on…
Conservatives have started playing the game, too, of trying to control the definitions of words.
Right on this forum, conservative commenters have insisted that cases of social media content moderation they didn’t like, that have not involved government actors, must be called “censorship”.
Laursen, that's highly disingenuous. There have been documented government actors actively asking for Twitter and other social media to censor posts, tweets, and people.
Laursen, that’s highly disingenuous
That's the definition of Laursen. I've yet to see a good faith argument from Liarsen.
You are unable to see a lot of things.
And you're unable to do a basic internet search for a lot of things.
Censorship doesn't have to be government enforced to be censorship.
The strangest part is they change definitions of gender at will yo produce circular arguments to defend drug and surgeries for gender to replicate sex. There is no logic to their beliefs.
Exactly. It's all based on equivocation.
Singal is one of the biggest regime bitches out there.
Yeah, but how does he rate on the 'threat to your family' scale?
Someone tell the child molester who calls itself bignose to slit its wrists like the pathetic female it is
"Someone tell bignose" I can see your comment you fucking dumbass hahahah. Hey, maybe if you ragepost some more your buddies won't notice that you think words are literal violence just like the leftists you hate so much.
"“My understanding of the “traditional,” liberal sex/gender divide is that sex is your physical body, and gender is the expectations, mores, assumptions, and other cultural stuff you encounter as a result of being seen as male or female.”"
Can he explain why affirming gender, to many, require altering their physical body? Since the physical body is not part of it and all.
Wrong. The current narrative has been put over on us by equivocation. Sex and gender had perfectly good separate meanings, with sex as a subset of gender (type) in some contexts. Singal's right about that. Notice even in the etymology you quoted, Gender has a broader meaning than sex.
Gaslighting has a meaning too, and should not be applied to this foolery when the more apt term equivocation describes it. Singal is trying to straighten people out, not gaslight them.

Trannie Dancing is the most important issue in Biden's America of 2023.
Well that's disappointing. Can't read the Taibbi article or the Singal article because they are behind paywalls. Any thoughts on how they might be obtained?
My main news sources are as follows: Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and the NY Times. I really miss the print edition of the Times. (you aksed this question yesterday).
I am a cheapskate so I go with free news sources, so I don't subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. I do like Bloomberg, I think they do a decent job. I don't really like NY Times because they do make it clear they are catering to the effete NYC audience and that is just offputting to me.
For me, anyway, it is about having a news source that will deliver a story that I can be assured will give me the basic gist of the idea, that will not omit important context for the sake of delivering a narrative, and will deliver some perspectives from at least two sides if not more.
I'm sorry, but Greenwald and Taibbi don't generally do that. They routinely omit important context because they are agenda-driven. They routinely omit the perspectives from other sides than their own. They want you to know their version of the story, and while it might be a version that is pleasing to many libertarians, we should be skeptical that they are really fully informing us.
I despise Tiabbi. He is a yellow journalist. His most famous line was when he called Goldman a "vampire squid" and the anti-bank Progs lapped it up. That is pure yellow journalism in text format.
Based on my readings of his work, he is a David-vs-Goliath type of journalist. He frames things from the point of view of 'the little guy' and the Goliath never gets a fair shake. Say what you will about whether Goldman Sachs deserves sympathy or not, but at least they have a point of view that deserves to be heard if one is to be a well-informed reader.
Oh, look at the two pederasts commisserating.
All I see is a bunch of gray boxes, and I'm pretty sure I'm better off for it.
Same.
Same
I can confirm you are. The back and forth between the three, while amusing, is pretty fucking bad. Them complaining about others doing what they are literally doing in the back and forth lol.
Yeah I am liking this thread too. It gives me insight into who to mute.

Tucker Carlson talks about being an alcoholic and his friendship with Hunter Biden in new biography
In a new biography, Tucker Carlson describes the depths of his alcoholism and revealing he had four vodkas with breakfast at one point
The former Fox News host discusses his closeness with Hunter Biden but slammed his destructive behavior
Carlson refers to First Lady Jill Biden as 'small-minded and dumb' while also calling the president 'stupid' and the family 'not liberal'

An alcoholic liar who was buddies with Hunter. Explains a lot.
Grats that you have completed the first step. Only eleven more. Good job buddy.
Imagine being Sarcasmic and still having the balls to call someone else an "alcoholic liar".
Oh look. You gave ML a boner. Good for you.
Stop fantasizing about my dink, Drunky.
Maybe thats why he likes shrike now. They both have a phallic obsession.
Shrike only likes the small ones and Sarc was only gay for pay.
Is 4 vodkas 4oz or 8oz? I consider 1 serving to be 2oz.
Like many of the media wingnuts, I suspect Tucker plays a character for his audience. His portrayal of a bowtie liberal was probably closest to his real persona.
He's on record knowingly spreading lies and talking about his audience with contempt. I have no idea why he's still so popular. Maybe because he tells people what they want to hear?
Yesterday you were the one spreading lies about Carlson when you claimed he was one of the people who got Fox in trouble with Dominion over Sidney Powell's claims, even though he was the one guy there who rejected them.
What a clown you are.

I didn't know about his personal connection to Hunter. I wonder if they are still in touch.
If his television persona is all an act to get rich, which I believe it is (and not much different from being a politician like Hunter's dad), then it wouldn't surprise me if they're still friends.
Help me out. I can't decide if our betters, aka Democratic one-percenters, are trying to turn the country into a new-age theocracy, socialist nanny state, or tweener summer camp.
All of the above.
Gotta love how the dems scream about abortion and women's rights, and in the next breath tell women they must share their private spaces with males. Males playing dress up, but still males.
I'm lost how democrat feminists support this shit.
There is a reason the Asians use white left as a slur
In all seriousness, probably for one of two reasons:
1. Like race hustlers, most people who make their living by being a professional feminist are just in on the grift and doing what they need to keep the dollars flowing.
2. Scientifically, women are neuro-chemically influenced to be more agreeable (e.g. tend to avoid conflict), prioritize social relationships higher, and care more about how they are seen by others than men. This puts us at a disadvantage in the argument because taking a public stand will result in viscous verbal and physical attacks, destroy relationships with whatever community you are part of, and cause you to be smeared by everybody as a 'mean' person.
100 years ago women who took a stand to claim a spot in what was seen as "men's" spaces were demonized and assaulted. Now those trying to stand against men invading "women's" spaces are going through the exact same thing. Different verse, same as the first.

The damn things never worked, and never could work, yet the Maskhole Cult is strong.
https://www.spiked-online.com/2023/07/19/the-junk-science-behind-face-masks/
A Scottish lobby group of healthcare workers wants us to start wearing masks again. The Scottish Healthcare Workers Coalition (SHWC) has warned against the UK government’s decision, taken in May, to remove face-mask guidance in healthcare settings. It has claimed that there are ‘very serious flaws’ in changing the guidance.
What’s troubling here is that the SHWC assumes that masks actually work. That they actually reduce the airborne spread of Covid. But there is very little evidence to support that claim.
What we see here is a conflict between what robust science says on masks and what others want the science to say. The science on face masks is full of uncertainty, but face-mask advocates want absolute certainty. This is captured well by a New York Times response to the Cochrane Review, which cherry-picked a number of studies to conclude: ‘Here’s why the science is clear that masks work’.
Then there’s Dr Rochelle Walensky, who was director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), until she resigned in May. She claimed in February this year, during a congressional hearing, that there is no uncertainty at all about the efficacy of face masks. She even said that, because of this certainty, there was no need for the CDC to conduct any randomised control trials on masking during the pandemic. After all, if you’re certain about something, you don’t need to question or test it.
Mask mandates, no matter how localised, aren’t harmless measures. They affect social behaviour and help to reinforce a climate of fear. In this regard, they were indicative of the government’s mishandling of the pandemic, as it resorted to authoritarian behavioural interventions. Indeed, to ensure mask compliance, the government effectively prosecuted its own citizens for daring to breathe fresh air. In London alone, 4,000 people were issued with penalty notices of up to £200 for going maskless in 2022 alone.
Of course masks work. They very effectively signal who is a compliant nanny state fan and are pretty good at indicating basis political allegiance.
Masks either "work" or "don't work" depending on your standard of measurement. That is what makes this entire discourse so frustrating.
Masks "work" if you are looking at a single individual, properly wearing a quality mask, under ideal or nearly ideal conditions. Actually, those of us who had to wear a mask for long stretches of time during the pandemic, know empirically that masks "work", because after a while, one could see that a liquid film would accumulate on the inside of the mask. That film represents condensed spittle that otherwise would have been aerated droplets (which may or may not have contained virus particles) that would have gone out into the environment. So the mask stopped those droplets from going into the environment.
Masks "don't work" if you look at large population studies, using all sorts of different types of masks of various qualities, wearing them with all sorts of different degrees of competency, under all sorts of different types of environmental conditions. And so yes, under these conditions, it is not a surprise to learn that the only masks that could possibly work in these cases are the N-95 respirator type masks. Cloth masks or some guy's T-shirt pulled up over his face aren't really going to do anything in the aggregate.
Jeffy, I work with masks and respirators. Those cloth things (and even N95s) never did jack shit. You're basically asking people who have never been fit tested nor medically cleared to wear any sort of face covering to suddenly wear a face covering that has never been tested nor approved by any reputable agency or other certifying body anywhere. What can possibly go wrong?
The weave on cloth masks is far too big (don't get me started on the crocheted ones) to stop a dust particle much less and an aerosolized virus or asbestos particle. They also lack any sort of seal around the edges. Essentially, they do nothing, and are probably disease vectors instead.
Surgical masks are elaborate spit guards and nothing more. Again, there is no seal around the edges to stop anything from getting through.
N95 masks are iffy at best, but don't work with how most have worn them. They are very difficult to seal around the edges, and to be worn properly, they must be fit tested (per OSHA). Take this part to heart, N95s are illegal to wear while working with asbestos, a particle size larger than the aerosolized virus.
Your only bet is to wear a half-face respirator with P100 (HEPA) filter cartridges at a minimum. This is what anyone testing for a virus like Covid wears. If fit tested properly, it will protect the wearer up to its protection factor (for a half-face, that's a PF of 10 - i.e. you can only have 1 particle inside for every 10 outside). To wear one properly, you must not just be fit tested by a competent person, but also cleared medically to do so.
Oh, if you're wondering, why there's the N and P designations, the N stands for "not petroleum resistant", and the P means "petroleum resistant". That N95 will never stand up to oils on it. If oils get on it, the mask has no more protection factor. At that point, it's just a decoration.
N95s are illegal to wear while working with asbestos, a particle size larger than the aerosolized virus.
But the aerosolized virus by itself wouldn't exist for any significant length of time, and even if it did, it wouldn't be any sort of health threat as it would soon be dead. The only significant concern is a virus that is contained within an aerosolized droplet of fluid that would also contain the medium it needs to continue surviving long enough to reach its next host. That droplet is large enough to be stopped by an N95 mask and certain types of other masks depending on the material that it's constructed out of.
That cloth masks don't have a seal around the edges don't mean that they can't be of some help. Again - just because they are not 100% effective, does not mean that they are 100% useless. Do not fall for the false dichotomy fallacy.
Dude, in order for a mask or respirator to work properly, it needs a seal. Otherwise, it's just an air deflector/redirector. Air always finds the path of least resistance. You've stopped nothing.
Actually, those of us who had to wear a mask for long stretches of time during the pandemic, know empirically that masks “work”, because after a while, one could see that a liquid film would accumulate on the inside of the mask.
LOL, your lard-inflecked saliva crusting on the thing hardly means that "masks work," fat boy.
It probably means that Jeffy's mask was a disease vector instead.
But it sounds sciencey!
Cheetos and do it pieces everywhere prove masks work.
Also hilarious that Jeff cites his own experience of literally using masks incorrectly as an argument of yours about people not using them correctly.
On top of that Jeff seems to think covid virus particles are liquid.
Seriously, he had no actual idea how fucking nasty that sounded.
Mask mandates ... affect social behaviour and help to reinforce a climate of fear.
Which, of course, was the real purpose. So in that way, they were nearly 100% effective.
Or, employing Occam’s Razor, the “real purpose” was to try to stem the spread of a respiratory viral disease.
Sorry, Laursen, but it doesn't work that way. We had decades of documented evidence that masks like those did not and do not work, and never would stop nor stem the spread of a disease like Covid or the flu.
The purpose was control. That is why they continue to state the purpose for the "next" pandemic.
How? By significant physical blockage of Viral Droplets (TM)? Or by instilling a societal paranoia and compliance with government policy through a visual signal? Only one of these worked, and the idea is despicable.
Which, of course, was the real purpose. So in that way, they were nearly 100% effective.
Remember folks -
Team Blue's motives are never what they claim they are. They are always much darker and much more sinister.
Team Red's motives, on the other hand, are exactly what they claim they are. We can accept them at face value without issue.

Judge Approves Oregon’s ‘Terrible’ New Gun Control Law
U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut reportedly claimed that large-capacity gun magazines “are not commonly used for self-defense, and are therefore not protected by the Second Amendment.”
She justified this mystifying logic by asserting the Second Amendment “allows governments to ensure that only law-abiding, responsible citizens keep and bear arms.”
First Washington and now Oregon.

Woke banks are not harmless.
https://www.spiked-online.com/2023/07/19/woke-capitalism-and-its-useful-idiots/
So there you have it. Nigel Farage really was given the boot from the prestigious private bank Coutts because of his political views. Because he is very pro-Brexit, is fond of Donald Trump and has been critical of Black Lives Matter. Because, in the words of an extraordinary internal dossier compiled by Coutts, his views ‘do not align’ with the bank’s values. For the past fortnight the chattering classes have been chortling over Farage’s claim that Coutts was persecuting him for his political beliefs. How dumb – worse, how complacent in the face of corporate tyranny – those people look now.
Now he has published a dossier that was distributed at a meeting of Coutts’ ‘reputational risk committee’ on 17 November 2022. It is a truly chilling read. It runs to 36 pages. There is a strong case for ‘exiting’ Farage from the bank, it says, because his publicly stated views are ‘at odds with our position as an inclusive organisation’.
The dossier basically finds Farage guilty of wrongthink. It highlights his renegade views not only on Brexit and Trump but also on Net Zero and even on King Charles – he has had the audacity to criticise His Majesty. Like dissidents in East Germany, his friendships are held against him, too.
The Brits really despise Donnie. He represents the loutish uncouth self-absorbed American stereotype.
Have you ever met any working class brits?
Maybe he's met SRG.
He is SRG.
Hence my joke.
Except it's based on a lie - which wouldn't necessarily make the joke unfunny.
FWIW I'm not sure how working-class Britons view Trump, but they don't default to a favourable view of seppos anyway.
No he's not, you lying fuckwit. But it seems you're too vested in your lie to concede that you were wrong to identify me as a sock.
Calm down shrike.
turd lies. turd lies when he knows he’s lying. turd lies when we know he’s lying. turd lies when he knows that we know he’s lying.

In 60 days, cash bail in Illinois will be no more after the Illinois Supreme Court upheld the Pretrial Fairness Act portion of the Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity-Today Act.
The sweeping criminal justice measure narrowly passed in early 2020 and had been amended multiple times, including in December 2022 with a law Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed to clarify that criminal defendants charged with violent crimes can be held pretrial while those charged with nonviolent crimes can be let go without bail.

They should put up informational poster for the public. No more need for gangs! Reported for a drug deal? You can intimidate your own witness! Arrested for trespass? "I'll be back."
It's great when these blue cities self-identify as crime-riddled shitholes so that people don't have to feel like they are unfairly characterizing the locals.
Guarantee you that there will be a federal mandate regarding home sharing in the near future. Of course, Uncle Bernie will still have his three homes to himself.
Ain’t gonna happen.
No, it is happening. Uncle Bernie does have three homes to himself. Now as for the other part, damn, Laursen, you're obtuse and could miss a joke even if it slapped you into next week.
You're right ITL. It was a joke... with a nervous laugh behind it. Can anyone remember another time in history that the CDC jumped on a "crisis" and then forced people to share their property (rental homes, hotels, etc.)?
"Ok, fine, it is happening. Now, here's why it's a good thing..."
I like how it is so often “the CDC” did that, as if Trump had nothing to do with it.
Anyway, it’s a bit of playing with common definitions of words and goal post moving to jump from “sharing” to talking about landlords and renters.
“The racialization of medical education and medicine constitutes a national emergency”
“The ideological capture of over two-thirds of medical schools demonstrates that CRT/DEI has become a part of the fabric of medical education. We are training future doctors to look at patients through a racial lens, with potentially frightening consequences for society.”
This is exactly what was being done in Germany in the 30's.
Misinformation along the border.
https://www.thecentersquare.com/national/article_5d7868d8-25d3-11ee-b169-773c26e70994.html
Texas officials are speaking out about what they argue is a false narrative being perpetrated by several media outlets regarding illegal border crossers at the Rio Grande River in Texas.
On Monday, the Houston Chronicle reported that a whistleblower with Texas DPS said officers were told "to push children into the Rio Grande River and deny water to migrants." Other media outlets reported the story.
Texas Border Czar Mike Banks, Texas DPS Director Steve McCraw, and Texas Adjutant General Major General Thomas Suelzer – the men leading OLS efforts – issued a joint statement in response to the accusations.
"No orders or directions have been given under Operation Lone Star that would compromise the lives of those attempting to cross the border illegally," they said. Texas DPS and the Texas Military Department are monitoring illegal border crossers in distress, they said, including providing "appropriate medical attention when needed."
OLS officers also encourage illegal foreign nationals to use "one of 29 international bridges along the Texas-Mexico Border where they can safely and legally cross.
"With migrants from over 150 countries encouraged by open border policies to risk their lives and make this dangerous trek to enter our country illegally, Texas is deploying every tool and strategy to deter and repel illegal crossings between ports of entry," the officials wrote. "The absence of these tools and strategies—including concertina wire that snags clothing—encourages migrants to make potentially life-threatening and illegal crossings."
Illegal border crossers pose a great risk to Texas law enforcement. A Border Patrol agent and state trooper were killed last year when pursuing individuals attempting to illegally cross the border. One Texas National Guardsman drowned after trying to rescue a drug smuggler attempting to get across the border undetected.
In response to the media coverage, a Border Patrol agent working in the area told The Center Square those illegally entering between ports of entry are doing so at the direction of Mexican cartels. "We have no idea who these people are based on the amount of fake documents we find. We don't know if they are real family units. The cartel is kidnapping children south of the U.S. border and selling them to single adults so they can be admitted as a family unit. Before, we could mitigate children being recycled using DNA tests. Because DNA testing ended May 31, the cartel is utilizing young children to traffic people across the border." The agent spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal.

House Oversight Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs Chairman Pat Fallon, R-Texas, led the hearing, calling the Department of Energy’s proposed gas stove rule the latest in a “tidal wave of regulatory burdens affecting Americans’ daily lives.”
“There are other rulemakings under consideration for dishwashers, refrigerators, water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, and other household appliances under the guise of improving energy efficiency as proscribed by the Environmental Policy and Conservation Act, or ‘EPCA,’” he said. “The gas stove rule, in particular, presents alarming violations of EPCA and erroneous analysis according to the experts who testified in place of invited Department officials.”
Nice words from the congressman, but will they do anything about it?
Nice words from the congressman, but will they do anything about it?
Yes, fundraise.
The entire Democratic/Progressive agenda derives from their moral superiority, which justifies a universal mandate for control.
I was assured, by Reason editors no less, that in fact no one was coming for my gas stove. Just a few months ago.
"Murphy's bill would create an "Office of Social Connection Policy to advise the president on loneliness and isolation," order federal agencies to implement a "national strategy on social connection," and start a public awareness campaign to educate people about fostering connections."
Isn't this stolen from a skit from "Saturday Night Live?" Perhaps it SHOULD have been a skit from "Saturday Night Live." At least we could get an honest laugh out of it.
Maybe it's looter code for relegalizing Backpage ads? It's hard to wring actual meaning from the pronouncements of either Kleptocracy faction.
Trudeau between a rock and hard place.
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/canadian-pm-trudeau-corners-himself-between-his-enthusiasm-trans-muslims
But last month he found himself caught between his urges to pander to the trans movement on the one hand, and his longstanding desire to be perceived as the champion of Muslims in Canada, a position that enables him to criticize and demean believing Christians as intolerant bigots.
But there is a slight problem that just won’t go away. Believing Muslims don’t want their children indoctrinated in schools with ideology being pushed by the trans movement in North America.
The issue had first heated up in Alberta, the oil-rich province that is milked to subsidize Eastern Canadian provinces, and which tends to be more conservative. On June 6th, a junior high school teacher in the provincial capital Edmonton was caught on tape berating Muslim pupils for skipping school to avoid LGBTQ Pride events:
On July 12 Trudeau was in Calgary, the largest city in Alberta and a major oil center, and sat down with a Muslim parent, trying the play the respect-everybody role, and wearing an open collar sports shirt as Mr. Casual Nicegyuy. And that’s where he stepped in it.
But he didn’t stop there. He continued on, casting devout Muslims following the Koran as patsies of… the American right wing.
Muslims and Christians objecting to LGBTQ indoctrination (sometimes, side-by-side) are not the only Canadians disgusted by Justin. Watch as he is enthusiastically booed delivering the opening remarks at the North American Indigenous Games yesterday:
Why do idiot Progs pander to Muslims but not their ideological brethren Fundie-Nut Christians?
Makes no sense (Sam Harris often asks that question).
turd lies when he knows he’s lying. turd lies when we know he’s lying. turd lies when he knows that we know he’s lying.
turd lies. turd is a lying pile of lefty shit and a pederast besides.
Because the Progs actually take seriously the idea of intersection I nalism that all racial and sexual minorities plus feminists are supposed to have a common enemy in straight, white, no progressive males. Therefore, any member of those groups who oppose progressives are suffering from false consciousness and are a traitor.
Therefore, any member of those groups who oppose progressives are suffering from false consciousness and are a traitor.
It really isn't any more complicated than that; just a lazy gnosticism founded on circular reasoning. Marcuse literally wrote the book on it.
Sam Harris, the clown who admits he will lie and support lying if he supports the ends pursued by lying?
Good source. Really.
Cite?
Cite?
GFY.
That’s my cite.
You asked for a cite for fucking ELECTION results, one of the easiest pieces of info one can conceivably find. You're not sincere or genuine.
If you know literally nothing about Harris, don’t post about him. If you do, then this is more of your meme bullshit.
He said it, specifically, on a podcast.
Less than an hour ago, I was literally listening to Russ Roberts interviewing Sam Harris on EconTalk.
“He said it, specifically, on a podcast.”
And I’m confident you are conveying the full context in which he said it. Or maybe he never said at all, since you are copping out on providing a cite.
Cite?
I'm not going to humor you with your lame "cite?" demands.
You, again, asked for a fucking cite for ELECTION results just a few days ago.
You are not sincere nor are you genuine. You're a shade better than PDB, but pond scum is much better than both of you.
It occurred on the Tiggernometry podcast. Do some work. And it was precisely what he argued on that podcast.
Thanks for the bread crumb. I just googled it, and looks like there is no way for me to quickly find out what you are talking about. I have to listen to the podcast or watch YouTube videos, but nowhere is a simple, concise statement of what Sam Harris said.
The only thing I saw was he made some statement about Obama (or something like that) that offended conservatives. Didn’t mention anything about “lying”.
I did see a transcript of a podcast where he was asked if it was OK to lie about Anne Frank hiding in one’s attic. Is that what you are talking about?
LOL, I was listening to more of the EconTalk interview and they talked about Sam Harris' book, "Lying". And Harris specifically brought up the Anne Frank in the attic example.
Which makes me suspect that the Anne Frank scenario is what damikesc was referring to when he said, "admits he will lie and support lying if he supports the ends pursued by lying." Which means damikesc was himself being deceptive with his comment, and that's part of the reason he won't give a cite; because it would reveal that he is bullshitting.
I love how you think everyone here should be so in tune with the right-wing media sphere that when you make this allusion to something Sam Harris said "on a podcast", the expectation is that we should all instantly know and confirm that it is accurate.
I don't expect you to know anything that the NY Times deems not worth covering. It explains you being an unenlightened dolt.
I know, right?
I did google and all I found was a podcast transcript where Sam Harris was asked if Anne Frank is hiding in one’s attic is it OK to lie about it. Is that the damning conversation? Who knows, because damikesc is playing games.
Roar, you mighty sealion.
I'd rather he got caught up in an abandoned fishing net and drowned.
Do you have a cite for what type of fishing net it might be?
Because the left adopted the "anti-colonialist" and anti-western pose after the end of World War II that happened to affect majority Muslim nations. Muslim immigrants tend to support socialistic government programs due to long-standing cultural paternalism, and Muslims who manage to enter the professional and managerial classes tend to find a lot more political and social clout withing the Democrats because the white party members are constantly kissing their ass and telling them how oppressed they are, which appeals to that "anti-colonialist" pose.
However, to the extent they support the Alphabet Mafia, it's mainly to encourage white westerners to turn their kids into eunuchs. That doesn't mean they support their own kids going down that path. The one major exception are the Palestinians, whose "religion" is really just marxist ethno-nationalism specific to their tribe, and will happily and uncritically parrot whatever the Current Year left promotes.
Progs are all in on intersectionality and feminism, and Christians have a whole lot of straight white males (the absolute enemy of progs).
Pretty simple. This is like asking why the Nazi's didn't find some common ground with the Jews
There is no one more sexist than a Muslim.
Says the "man" whose backup name after his original one was banned for pedo actions is a misogynist insult of a woman.
After your months of sheer David Duke level racism, you might want to sit this out.
Lol. Please, do tell us more about what Sam Harris ponders. He sounds fascinating.
You sure do name drop a lot. Insecure people do that. Good to know where you get your original thoughts.
Castreaux should have done that in black (or red) face.
'"The bill defines "adult cabaret performances" as material "harmful to juveniles ... featuring either ... go-go dancers..."'
Ban "go-go dancers?" What year is this, 1954? Or maybe 1066?
That's "harmful" in a way that gunshot wounds--inflicted by the minions of those officious politicians in the enforcement of coercive legislation--_aren't_ harmful.

The SPLC and its MO.

The Southern Poverty Law Center just released a report claiming there are 1,225 hate and anti-government groups in America. These groups cause “fear and pain [in] Black, brown, and LGBTQ communities.”
Ayaan Hirsi Ali grew up Muslim in Somalia, but now she criticizes radical Islam and sometimes (maybe this is what really bothers the SPLC) fraternizes with American conservatives.
The center put Hirsi Ali on its list.
I suspect the center keeps its hate list long to bring in lots of money.
The SPLC pays some of its people more than $400,000 a year.
Harper’s Magazine once reported that the center was the richest civil-rights group in America, one that spends most of its time and energy trying to raise more money.
“Much of which is in offshore accounts in the Caymans,” says Boykin.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a tribute to individuality and a positive role model.
turd, the ass-clown of the commentariat, lies; it’s all he ever does. turd is a kiddie diddler, and a pathological liar, entirely too stupid to remember which lies he posted even minutes ago, and also too stupid to understand we all know he’s a liar.
If anything he posts isn’t a lie, it’s totally accidental.
turd lies; it’s what he does. turd is a lying pile of lefty shit.
Splc is literally a terrorist organization
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is not just a critic of Islam but an Atheist and a critic of Welfare Statism in Europe and the U.S....and gorgeous to boot! Niall Ferguson married well! She doesn't belong in any boat with the Family Research Council either! Fuck the SPLC!
The Southern Poverty Law Center is neither a law center nor Southern and damn sure nor in poverty! Discuss...
Something tells me the Senator is just lonely. Probably doesn't have any friends.

You jest, but I could see something like this tying in to the social credit score crap. E.g., part of your score will be determined by the number of social media accounts (and on which platforms) you have, how much engagement you get and how many posts (and what kinds of posts!) you "like," and how many government approved clubs you belong to (your local Antifa chapter will improve your score, for example, your local gun club will lower it), etc. That way, there will be no opting out by simply not having an online presence or not participating in social activities.

> Here's Jesse Singal with a good diatribe about confusing "sex," "gender," and "gender identity."
Sex is biological, gender is social. The Left keeps telling us that gender is a social construct, yet it is that SAME Left that pretends that gender is physical, that biological males with penises should use female restrooms, that biological males with testicles should compete in womens sports divisions, etc. To the Left, merely declaring oneself a gender will automatically change ones biological sex.
Like I keep pointing out, if "gender is a social construct," then trannies don't actually need radical reconstructive surgery or hormone injections, and they wouldn't be encouraging kids to do the same, going as far as providing online databases of how to put together homemade estrogen in their bathtubs to get around parents who won't let their kid troon out. They'd just dress up like their favored "gender" and go about their day.
By conflating "sex" and "gender" through demands that society provide them with "gender-affirming care" and cater to their delusions, they're actually confirming that sex and gender are the same thing, and that this is just a political power flex to impose their mental illness and attention-seeking behavior on everyone else.
Note to foreign readers: "the Left" here refers to materialist looter ideologues unimpressed by race-suicide eugenics as opposed to mystical racial collectivist looter ideologues fascinated by eugenics. Both monofilament factions have accomplished little except the destruction of much of Europe & Asia and the strengthening of rule by coercion at gunpoint.
Dude, care to translate that into English?
"Sex is biological, gender is social."
Well, this wasn't true for all of humanity until 5 minutes ago, but man way to adopt the left's framing and turn on a dime, on command, for them.
Sex and gender referred to the same interchangeable commonly understood concept for pretty much forever since the words have been used. This "gender is a construct" thing is fresh out of gender studies at woke colleges and is about 5 minutes old
Gender was used as a more "proper" term for sex. Much like "white meat" meant breast and "dark meat" meant thigh. To use perhaps overly-polite terminology to bolster an asinine regime would make Orwell wonder if he did not go far enough.
No, gender means type. It could mean type of sex, but is not specifically sex.
You know the term for that, don't you? Equivocation. It's amazing they've put this one over.

THREAD: In 2016, Democrats, Hollywood celebrities, and corporate news outlets urged electors to vote against President-elect Donald Trump.
Lawrence Lessig's article in The Washington Post on November 26, 2016, argued that Republican electors had the constitutional right and duty to switch their votes from Trump to Hillary Clinton.
This sparked a movement supported by figures like Michael Moore, John Podesta, Keith Olbermann, Rosie O'Donnell, and several Hollywood celebrities.
While they only convinced a few electors, it's important to recognize the double standard of justice in the treatment of Democrats and Republicans when objecting to elections.

An organized effort to cancel outspoken conservative country musician Jason Aldean for his powerful music video “Try that in a Small Town” is underway.
The music video features real footage of rioting, violence, looting, & setting fires to cities from over the past 3 years. The message is that the cities may have fallen, but we still defend each other & property rights in small towns.
The specious claim against this song and video is “oh so you must like lynching” which of course doesn’t make any sense to normal people, but the latest and most serious attempt to ban guns is to stigmatize self defense by conflating it with this heinous, racist crime.
This filthy, dishonest tactic was sent over from the filthy, dishonest Communist HQ in a letter to the filthy, dishonest American communists during WWII: “associate what you want to control to a label that already stinks.”
It is our duty to shut their censorship efforts down immediately, with transparency, truth, and better speech.
CMT has already caved and censored the music video by pulling it. YouTube is probably not too far behind. So we are going to Streisand Effect the hell out of it here.
I’m adding in Jason’s statement in the next thread, and the Rumble link in the third thread.
[Link]
It is our duty to shut their censorship efforts down immediately, with transparency, truth, and better speech.
You don't even need "better speech"--this is just a continuation of the discredited pretense that you fight the left with "ideas."
The left only understands one thing, and that's force--if they try to force you, you tell them to go fuck themselves and force them to back off. Their whole power accumulation is dependent on convincing people to voluntarily accede to their proposals, and it doesn't even take a majority resisting to fuck up their agenda. Just 17% of Americans didn't take a COVID shot, but it was enough to prevent the implementation of vaccine passports and mandates, and eventually led to the end of mandatory COVID shots in the US military--and that was because that 17% was quite loud and stubborn in their resistance, even after the President deliberately singled them out for supposedly extending the pandemic.
However, that resistance takes actual work and organization, and the right has been out of practice on that for decades, mainly due to the center-right convincing the rest that "ideas" were sufficient to combat the left, no work necessary.
The other thing that's critical is to NEVER take the left's assertions at face value or treat them in good faith. If they claim something like, "this video is about lynching," the proper response isn't "no, it's about keeping communities safe," or whatever apologia, the proper response is, "your claims are stupid, wrong, have no merit, and aren't worth respecting."
NEVER concede a damn thing to the left, because it will never be enough. Ever. The minute you start compromising with them is the minute you begin allowing them to obtain more power over you. Gatekeeping is critical to preventing their entryism, and any complaints about "divisiveness" need to be met by pointing out that they always whine about divisiveness when they aren't allowed to control whatever it is they're trying to worm their way into, or are getting pushback on when they happen to control it (such as school boards).
Aldean also seemed to go out of his way (or his producers did) to include a large amount (if not the vast majority of the video) of footage of white people rioting, being violent, etc. They clearly went out of their way to not make this a race thing, and the immediate response was "REEEEEEEEE!!! LYNCHING!!!"
The fat guy in the water is gesturing what most South Americans interpret to mean "up yours!"
Thought it might be a White Supremacist "K".
Fuck all. The fact that I can't signal OK anymore without thinking "Oops, did someone take that the wrong way?"
Is that what K-Mart is about?

Sound of Freedom just hit $100M at the Box Office
“Try That In A Small Town” is the #1 song on iTunes
Disney lost $900M+ on their last 8 releases and Disney World is empty
Bud Light and Target lost billions of dollars over anti-woke boycotts
The silent majority is real
Which is why libertine like Reason are trying to convince people not to push back by screaming culture war.
Which is why the proper response is "Yeah, that's exactly what this is, and not fighting it when one side is clearly on the offensive is stupid."
MORAL PANIC!!!
I wouldn’t call it a silent majority, so much as the anti-left deciding to not act like abused spouses anymore and stop spending consumer dollars on people who hate them. These corporations thrive on unending monetary growth, and if 25% of the population decides to quit giving them their business, it’s not going to be made up with increased spending from the other 75%.
This is what I mean when I say that it doesn’t even take a majority of people resisting to fuck up the left’s agenda. Look how much these companies have lost in market share, which they’ll probably never get back now because they took a side in the culture war for Good Boi points from the WEF and Human Rights Campaign. Corporations can’t take that kind of permanent hit to their bottom line for long before investors start to get antsy.
These big companies almost always come undone through their own ennui and arrogance. Sears and Montgomery Ward went under despite being THE big dogs in commercial retail for over 100 years, because they failed to grasp how the internet was impacting consumer spending habits and putting malls out of business. Hollywood and companies like Anheuser-Busch are doing the same by alienating their core customers through the bludgeoning of its IPs and products, while its stars, writers, and directors antagonize conservatives on social media and in the mainstream press and put out absolute shit content that not even the niche demographics they’re chasing want to watch. Wanting to “feel seen” doesn’t equate to spending money, and the movie and comics industry has been finding out.
Also, the 25% they are pissing off are much bigger spenders than the 5% of far left lunatics that they are catering to, who have no money, hate work, and are too riddled with mental illness to hold down a good job to provide the disposable income these corporations thrive on.
Hopefully, eventually, catering to a bunch of broke, mentally ill socialists will net them the gains they deserve
The fact that Amazon is huge and Sears is dead is possibly the worst case of a company not knowing their own history, ever.
"Sound of Freedom just hit $100M at the Box Office"
Media: "Sound of Freedom is about a Qanon conspiracy theory"
"“Try That In A Small Town” is the #1 song on iTunes"
Media: "This is a song about Lynching"
...im starting to notice a pattern here...
All the people I know who know anything about QAnon are left-wingers. Trust the Experts, they say.
I'm no Lefty, but I've seen them in the store where I work.
Note to Mother's Lament: If it takes up coordinates in the 4-Dimensional Natural Universe, it exists. It may a joke group, but it exists.
As for the non-4-Dimensional Natural Universe, no such place, so at least Q-Anon has no Supernatural abilities to destroy innocent bakers of cheese pizza.
Are they actually QAnon or trolls and funposters, or some edgelords being edgy?
Because I've never met or come across anyone who claims to be QAnon or even believe it's a thing.
I wasn't meaning to say you were Mother's Lament. I was just passing that along to ML if he was reading. He seems to think that if it's a joke, it doesn't exist.
QAnon is a 4chan joke that took in the establishment, just like their
"Let's make the establishment think the okay sign means white power" joke, or their "It's okay to be White" campaign.
Well, the Jason Aldean song is not true for my small town of Gastonia, NC. We had our store boarded up and closed at 5:30 PM during the first week of the riots for St. George.
There was also a ginned-up racial incident at Tony’s Ice Cream where a patron claimed a worker looked hairy-eyed at her BLM badge. The New Black Panthers came in from out of town, stood on the street with weapons and menaced the place, and lines of Police were called in for demonstrations after the incident.
We also had an incident a couple of years before this where Antifa was attempting to burn a giant U.S. flag of a sporting goods store, which was fortunately repelled by crowds of armed citizens.
And, of course, Gastonia, NC has been called “Little Chicago” for decades due to per capita murder rate statistics.
A small town is not necessarily a hedge against a small world.
Well, the Jason Aldean song is not true for my small town of Gastonia, NC. We had our store boarded up and closed at 5:30 PM during the first week of the riots for St. George.
Yeah, I'm sure the town being about 10 miles from Charlotte didn't have anything to do with that at all. Gastonia's not even a small town--it has 80,000 people. That's the size of a decent suburb for that part of the country.
Gastonia has got the worst of both Town and Country. It is small compared against Chi-Town, NYC, and LA, yet it has it's own microcosm version of the same problems. Charlotte looks down it's nose at Gastonia, yet it has bigger versions of the same problems and more explicit Wokesters and Urban Central Planners.
Gastonia and surrounding small towns are basically The Land That Civilization Forgot.
The silent majority is real
And starting to hit them where it hurts: in the pocket book. I think a lot of people have realized that not only is the vast majority of mainstream culture (movies, TV, music, comic books, etc.) crap, they can - in fact - live without that trash just fine and more importantly there are alternatives available. For instance instead of watching Indiana Jones and the diarrhea of dysentery they can watch Sound of Freedom or even MI: Dead Reckoning (they don't even have to give up on mainstream movies completely, just don't watch garbage produced by people who hate you).
Instead of reading comic books that resent their buyer's very existence they can support Ripperverse comics instead, and so on. Plenty more examples, I'm sure, those are just a couple off the top of my head.
Thanks for the introduction to Ripperverse. I'll see if I can find some of those at Books-A-Million or the local comic shop. Always good to see alternatives.
I think they're only available online.
Perhaps that's for the best too. No problem with distribution getting cancelled when it's a one-stop shop.
Senator Chris Murphy wants to be your friend.
Like a little brother, only bigger.
Moving beyond the pointlessness of Murphy's proposal, there's also something a little creepy and dystopian about it
A little? Only a little? Orwell gets referenced often here in the comments, but we have never been witness to a better analog for Big Brother than this proposal. First MiniTrue and now this? I have joked about 1984 as a playbook, but fuck me, I had no idea we were this close to the edge.

probably not.

I know they write the laws only to perpetuate the judicial system but come the fuck on with the "obscene"

was my tax money used for this idiocy?
I am just surprised that public administrators could be found to be displaying that much common sense.
veritas.
in vino veritas
We are talking about school administrators after all. I suspect few are sober all day.
was my tax money used for this idiocy?
Somewhat OT: Speaking of wasting taxpayer money on idiocy:
Denver doesn't even know for sure how much money they wasted making a 94 minute
documentarypropaganda film about how "great" outgoing mayor Michael Hancock is.oh my.
Wow, Jason Aldean widely getting panned by the media and booted off CMT for saying completely rational, and really just common sense non-inflammatory conservative viewpoints.
My brother Mike tells me conservatives have some sort of victimhood complex. I wonder if it has something to do with them saying things like "we are against crime and violence" and the media fires back with "YOU ARE PRO LYNCHING!!" and then said conservative gets immediately cancelled. Maybe its something to do with that...
Looks like your victimhood complex got fed some fresh meat. Jason Andean is going to be just fine.
Cite?
I you missed it, there was a thread yesterday where jeffy got his sophistry stuffed back in his mouth like one of his crusty socks by a good half dozen posters until he begged for it to stop. I kept expecting him to rage-quit but it went on for hours and continued this morning.

Here is a particularly satisfying exchange out of the many, many excellent responses posted by those that True Libertarians refer to as “the mean girls”:
Hard to believe he showed up for more today. He really thinks he gets to reset to zero each morning.
He really thinks he gets to reset to zero each morning.
Probably because his source code deletes all interactions from the day before (I'm working under the assumption that most of the shills here are bots).
>>chemjeff radical individualist 18 hours ago
Here’s another fallacy: Fuck you.
that happened?
There was even more in another thread. First he deflected, then accused me of the wrong fallacy, then finally settled on:
He called me lazy, which makes no sense. From context, I suspect this was meant to imply "substituting a target of convenience". I would resent being called a troll by most people, because trolling implies I don't believe what I write, but anyone familiar with bears in trunks knows jeffy is notoriously sloppy with metaphors. I am demonstrably an asshole, so he gets props there. The "proxy" stuff is wonderfully evocative of a persecution complex.
He never did refute or admit that my argument, "the source is irrelevant if the information is valid," is self-evident. Neither did he heed my advice, "falsify the information and you win the argument."
lol how does one come back from that?
It's Jeffy. He'll be back with even more vitriol.
Chucky, you have said in the past that you give me so much grief because there is some relative of yours that for whatever reason you are unable to communicate with, and so you substitute me for your relative.
And I really am tired of you doing that. Stop it.
That is not even close to what I said. You should practice reading for comprehension. If you don't want responses, don't post fallacious nonsense.
And here is another thing, Chucky.
“The source is irrelevant if the information is valid.”
Yes, that is a true statement. It is also not terribly relevant to the discussion we were having.
You do this a lot. I would be having a discussion with someone else, and then you barge in with some tangential point. You demand that I prove this or that and you get all testy and full of insults.
To review, the discussion yesterday that we WERE having was about the general quality of sources that are linked to in the daily roundup. In general, the right-leaning posters post from sites that are explicitly right-wing partisan sources, official Republican Party mouthpieces, or random Twitter people; while the non-right-leaning posters post from sites that are far more neutral in their orientation. No one was posting anything from official Democratic Party mouthpieces. No one was posting explicitly left-wing partisan sources.
And then you barged and started trying to claim that “The source is irrelevant if the information is valid.” Well okay, fine. It may be the case that everything that The Conservative Treehouse is completely valid. The problem is that if you only read The Conservative Treehouse as your news source, you are going to wind up with a skewed perspective of the world. That was the point I was trying to make.
Oh, and you were also demanding that I should be analyzing the entirety of the website over all time or something, not just one day's worth of material. No, Chucky, I chose to do one day, and if you want to extend the argument over more time, that is your choice. It is not MY job to construct YOUR argument.
And so that is what you do, I'll be having a conversation, and you barge in and disrupt it with these demands and insults and generally act like an asshole. And I believe it is because of this family dynamic that you have transferred on to me. And I am just sick of it.
So yesterday was really just the last straw. Fuck you, and either start treating me as me, and not as your relative, or put me on mute and leave me alone.
ITL called it.
"It’s Jeffy. He’ll be back with even more vitriol."
To review, the discussion yesterday that we WERE having was about the general quality of sources that are linked to in the daily roundup.
To which my argument, “The source is irrelevant if the information is valid,” is perfectly relevant. And you actually agree, so why are you arguing against it? Oh, yeah, mean comments.
So yesterday was really just the last straw.
You are more than welcome to quit posting if you can't accept criticism. Or feel free to adopt a sockpuppet and slander my religious beliefs if that would make you feel better.
Or maybe you can stop acting like an asshole. Nah I guess that is too much to ask.
It may not be an asshole these comments deserve, but I am the asshole these comments need.
Everything Is So Terrible And Unfair, Jeff.
Haha. What a doosh.
“Yes, that is a true statement. It is also not terribly relevant to the discussion we were having.”
You know other people can read the comments right? It was 100% relevant to the discussion as you, being a condescending douche canoe a lot of the time, disregard out of hand anything coming from a source to the right of the NYT, even if they’re correct.
He'd have more luck if everyone didn't absolutely hate him.
It may be time to refine the mission of the club. Do we have the budget for a meeting in Austin?

Hey, ML. Care to answer my question yet?
Yesterday you wrote: “I’ve yet to see you tell the truth.”
Well, yesterday I wrote: “all partisan sites lie to a certain extent”
Is that phrase true or not?
I answered it yesterday, I've already answered it in this thread, and I'll answer it again now, lying Jeffy.
No, because it was a part of a lie.
By trying to get me to agree to an excerpt from your lie, you’ll then claim I agreed or acquiesced to the lie itself.
In full:
“So, if that is true – and I agree, that all partisan sites lie to a certain extent – then shouldn’t it be a point of pride that the non-right-leaning posters aren’t citing stories from partisan left-wing sites like salon.com, as opposed to right-leaning posters who ARE citing stories from partisan right-wing sites like conservativetreehouse.com?”
These pathetic attempts at sophistry aren’t tricking anyone, Jeffy. Really trying to force me to agree to your big lie by only posting a tiny excerpt of it is beyond pathetic.
I didn't ask about the entire comment. I literally asked about just that phrase.
If I had wanted to ask about the whole comment I would have done so.
You are so dishonest you will not admit when I am even transparently right.
If what you claimed above is your sincere opinion, you could have just have easily said:
"I agree that just that one phrase is true, but I do not agree that the larger paragraph is true."
But you didn't. You tried to claim that even that one single phrase is not true because the whole paragraph is not true. Which is a false claim in and of itself.
So, this entire claim of yours is just a ruse. You are avoiding admitting the truth because you are fundamentally dishonest and cannot admit the truth to someone you despise.
More vitriol indeed.
Lol. Jeff is one lonely radical individualist. Maybe this Murphy fellow can help him.
Yep. Not only does he think he gets to reset to zero in the morning like some bad video game character, but he'll then use part of something someone said, cherry-picked against them to "own" them.
That's a beautiful exchange, by the way, Chuck. Had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing hysterically at work.
More like funny (the ha-ha kind) and Singaporean. Remember how that country got socially repressive enough that they needed to institute male-female mixers to encourage coupling?
Also slightly Burmese, where the regime came to resemble that in the movie Brazil. Plus reminiscent of Moammar Quackdaffy. That sort of combination of heavy-handed but wacky enough to laugh about.
Do they have a 27B/6 form?
