Before There Was Christian Nationalism, There Was Christian Anarchism
Rejection of the state and the use of lethal force can be found in the founding documents of Christianity.

Around the turn of the third century, an African bishop named Tertullian mused about the relationship between Christians and the state. The previous century had seen a large number of Christians martyred for refusing to recognize Caesar as divine. A few seemingly small compromises with the empire could have relieved some of the pressure on this young religious movement that worshiped a man crucified under Roman authority. But Tertullian would have none of it: "Shall [we] make an occupation of the sword [as soldiers], when the Lord proclaims that he who uses the sword shall perish by the sword?…Shall he carry a flag, too, hostile to Christ?"
Tertullian would not be a good candidate for patron saint of Christian nationalism, if there were such a thing. But his questions arguably lead directly to Christian anarchism.
Stephen Wolfe, a Christian nationalist himself, has defined his movement's goal as a "totality of national action, consisting of civil laws and social customs, conducted by a Christian nation as a Christian nation, in order to procure for itself both earthly and heavenly good in Christ." In short, Christian nationalism would use the state to enforce religious values. Christian anarchism, by contrast, rejects the state and every use of lethal force. Its rallying cry is "no king but Christ."
Christian nationalism's roots began when the Roman emperor Constantine converted to Christianity in 312 C.E.—though this predated the modern nation-state, so it isn't Christian nationalism as we usually think about it today. The nation-state would later contribute to the rise of theonomy, a Calvinist ideology holding that the state should enforce a certain understanding of God's law. Dominionism, a more broadly evangelical belief that Christians should dominate centers of power and influence, came later.
Although Christian anarchism's origin is often attributed to the Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy, its roots predate him—and Christian nationalism—by centuries. They begin with the New Testament itself.
Jesus went beyond the principle that it is immoral to initiate force, commanding his followers that they should turn the other cheek when attacked. The earliest Christians, drawing on this principle of nonviolence, saw the state as inherently violent and even demonic. In the Gospels, the devil tempts Jesus by offering him all political authority on earth, which he turns down. The Book of Revelation presents Satan as a seven-headed dragon with a crown on each head, giving ruling authority to a beastly creature that probably represented the Roman empire.
Christian anarchism's rejection of ethnic and nationalistic divisions is grounded in the Apostle Paul's Epistle to the Ephesians, where he presents the kingdom of God as a spiritual nation with no walls between Jews and gentiles. Though the anarchism of the early church is more separatist than the activist Christian anarchism of some later advocates, both approaches share a rejection of violence and a commitment to Jesus' words before the Roman procurator Pontius Pilate: "My kingdom is not of this world."
This commitment often led to death, as it did with the second century Scillitan martyrs. These twelve North African believers were tried in Carthage for the crime of being Christians. When called to swear a religious oath to Caesar, one was said to respond, "I recognize not the empire of this world; but rather do I serve that God whom no man hath seen, nor with these eyes can see."
In the intervening centuries, anarchist ideas have been found among self-proclaimed Christians of many different stripes. Anabaptists emerged during the Protestant reformation as a distinct movement that sought to go back to the New Testament way of living by rejecting military service. They were so committed to voluntary faith and freedom of religion that they rejected infant baptism and re-baptized adults, reasoning that babies cannot consent to be Christians. For this unfashionable view, many were given a "third baptism" by their religious enemies: They were taken by force and drowned. The movement's descendants include the Mennonites and the Amish, the latter of which could be described as proto-Agorists for their belief in separation and communal living.
Other "restorationist" movements, such as the Churches of Christ and the Jehovah's Witnesses, were founded on the idea that Christians should go back to a time before new ideas had led the church astray. Unsurprisingly, they also often rediscovered nonviolence and anti-statism. And in the 20th century, Catholic anarchism was represented inspiringly by Dorothy Day, who opened her home to the destitute, refused to pay federal income taxes, and was jailed for her activism.
Christian anarchism also left a significant mark on less conservative and less traditional Christians, such as the philosopher Jacques Ellul. Ellul reasoned in his 1988 book Anarchy and Christianity that anarchism "seems to be the position which [is] closest to biblical thinking."
Christian nationalists dream of going back to an earlier era, a time when civics and faith seemed inseparable. The response of the Christian anarchist is, "You're not going back far enough."

"Mennonites and the Amish" mentioned here... Brings to mind this:
Q: What does a young Amish woman dream of?
A: Ten men-a-night!
When visiting Pennsylvania, my dad asked a young Amish girl the difference between Amish and Mennonites, because it was hard to see the difference. She replied, "Mennonites are going to hell!!
LOL! Good one, thanks!

"Jesus went beyond the principle that it is immortal to initiate force . . . "
I nominate this for typo of the week.
(assuming he meant immoral)
(And editorial fail of the month)
Seconded.
Not certain it’s a typo, I think it’s ignorance.
Or divine inspiration.
Maybe the author didn’t know the difference between Jesus and immortan joe.
"Jesus built my hotrod. It's a love affair. Mainly Jesus and my car."
Other than that the only lyrics I can recall are "Ding dang a dong a ding a dang dangy dong."
Strangely that makes it good for drunken singalongs.
"No one with a good car needs to be justified".
It is, actually true (factually true) that initiating force is practically immortal in our time, in our universe (in the multiverse, it may actually be LITERALLY immortal!). So long as there has been life-eating life, force has been being initiated! I initiated force against some wheat, carrots, an orange, and some poor chicken's eggs for breakfast just this morning! Until dilithium-crystal-powered food synthesizers become dirt cheap, this won't change any time soon!
PS, Jesus never initiated force against wheat, carrots, oranges, chicken’s eggs, or other living things... He was a breatharian!

Inedia (Latin for 'fasting') or breatharianism (/brɛˈθɛəriənɪzəm/) is the claimed ability for a person to live without consuming food, and in some cases water.

I nominate it for The. Biggest. Factual. Error. Ever.
The founder of Christianity said nothing less than this:
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:34
And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him. Mark 12:17
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.Luke 19:27
Moreover, both Old and New Testament condone and support the institution of slavery and obedience to State Authority.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Romans 13:1
Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. 1 Corinthians 7:21-22
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ. Ephesians 6:5
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God. Colossians 3:22
Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven. Colossians 4:1
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. If any man teach otherwise ... he is proud, knowing nothing.... From such withdraw thyself. 1 Timothy 6:1-5
And, of course, there is much more that clearly shows that Christianity is not a right fit with Libertarianism.

God COMMANDS us to kill EVERYONE!
Our that them thar VALUES of society outta come from that them thar HOLY BIBLE, and if ya read it right, it actually says that God wants us to KILL EVERYBODY!!! Follow me through now: No one is righteous, NONE (Romans 3:10). Therefore, ALL must have done at least one thing bad, since they’d be righteous, had they never done anything bad. Well, maybe they haven’t actually DONE evil, maybe they THOUGHT something bad (Matt. 5:28, thoughts can be sins). In any case, they must’ve broken SOME commandment, in thinking or acting, or else they'd be righteous. James 2:10 tells us that if we've broken ANY commandment, we broke them ALL. Now we can’t weasel out of this by saying that the New Testament has replaced the Old Testament, because Christ said that he’s come to fulfill the old law, not to destroy it (Matt. 5:17). So we MUST conclude that all are guilty of everything. And the Old Testament lists many capital offenses! There’s working on Sunday. There’s also making sacrifices to, or worshipping, the wrong God (Exodus 22:20, Deut. 17:2-5), or even showing contempt for the Lord’s priests or judges (Deut. 17:12). All are guilty of everything, including the capital offenses. OK, so now we’re finally there... God’s Word COMMANDS us such that we’ve got to kill EVERYBODY!!!
(I am still looking for that special exception clause for me & my friends & family… I am sure that I will find it soon!)
Interesting. I wasn’t clear at the end, though, whether you are advocating for keeping Christianity or keeping libertarianism.
Did you read this Encog?
Laursen's inferring you're secretly advocating Christianity.
Mammary-Necrophilia-Fuhrer advocates Christianity, Ass The Perfect Christian Theologian that She is! Ask Her... I bet She can even tell us how many angels can dance on Her Perfect Pin-Head!
Hear, hear, HEAR ye the self-righteous preachings of MammaryBahnFuhrer! (Imported below). She knows JUST the right “Popular-with-the-Cool-Kids-in-Her-Own-Mind” theology to espouse, along with wearing JUST the right purse, hairstyle, whorestyle, and other accessories! Meanwhile, in the EXACT same source, She engaged in identity theft! Her heart, in truth, is a ravening black hole of hypocrisy, greedy self-righteousness, and other evils!
Now, the preachings of The Great Mammary. Note that She picks the verses that say that the right BELIEFS and whorestyles get you “in” with the “in” crowd, and then you’re free to engage in ID theft and other evils, at will!
Mammary-style whorestyles - preachings below:
It amazes me how Americans living in a purportedly Christian culture don't even understand the basic tenets of its theology.
Pretty much the whole point of Christianity is that everyone has sinned and is worthy of damnation so God became a human and took our punishment for us. And the libertarian angle is, that you still have a choice to accept or reject the gift already given.
Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Romans 6:23 ESV: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 3:16-17 ESV: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
(End of Mammary-Necrophilia-Fuhrer-style preachings.)
We can pick and chose our Bible verses to justify ANY evils we WANT TO justify! And YOU equate "fashionable theology to justify ANY evil shit that I want to do" with Your fashionable hairstyle and whorestyle! Got the right fashionable BELIEFS, and so then The Queen can do WHATEVER She wants! Your BELIEFS will protect You from the consequences of Your evil actions? Do You not GET this, Oh Fashionable Queen of the Internet Cesspools?
"By their fruits, you will know them", is something that Jesus said. DEEDS, not "Magic Beliefs"!
So Great Theologian... How about Your DEEDS? Like identity theft? Was it YOU who stole "Buttplug the First"'s ID, to post child porn under his ID? How can we know either way, for SURE (how can we believe any denials that You might make), when you steal IDs, and implicitly in doing so, deliberately LIE, for malicious purposes? Stealing another person's ID is something that I would NEVER do!
So tell me again about Your Superior Theology?
Remember to keep the thread readable by using the spam flag, folks.
I know, right? What regular here would think that?
*Sigh!* One of the pitfalls of treating this as just some blog to read over coffee. 🙂
At least Jesus didn't put bears in chariot cabs to slaughter people or we'd have the same misunderstanding from ChemJeff. 🙂
Yeah, encog is subtle that way. Just can’t quite peg that dude.
The latter (keeping Libertarianism.)
Got it. Thanks.
Imagine how fucking retarded you need to be to cite chapter and verse demonstrating that Christians are supposed to be subject to all human authority, never question human authority, and submit to the king in all things even if it means death, and then think you've made the case that Christianity is nationalist. You'd have to be the same kind of retard that cites a verse instructing masters to treat their slaves with equality and justice and then think you've made the case that Christianity supports slavery.
Here's one the retards at the HuffPo article you copped these from missed, btw you theologically and historically illiterate bootlicking Nazi faggot retard:
Man, that dreaded Christian nationalism just jumps off the page, doesn't it Nazi faggot?
Let's now white-wash the Bible and replace "slave" with "bondservant"! MORE woke bullshit going on here!

Whitewashing Evangelical Scripture: The Case of Slavery and Antisemitism in the ESV
What's the difference between "Evangelical" scripture and Catholic, Episcopalian, Syrian Orthodox and Coptic scripture, Shillsy?
No significunt differences at all, according to THE Christian Theology Expert, The Great Mammary-Fuhrer!
The Great Mammary-Fuhrer tells us that Jesus tells us... Jesus being the one and the same ass The Great Mammary-Fuhrer... That all the WRONG beings, lesser beings than The Great Mammary-Fuhrer, should... commit SUICIDE!
Mammary-Necrophilia-Fuhrer, Supreme Demonic Director of Decay, Destruction, and Death, will now SPEAK! HARKKK silently and RESPECTFULLY, all ye lowly heathens, as She Directs Death, and announces WHICH few of us MIGHT deserve to live, and WHO all deserves to DIE-DIE-DIE!!!

“You should really join ᛋᛋqrlsy, ᛋᛋhrike. You two goosestepping fascists offing yourselves would definitely be a mitzvah.”
-Quote MammaryBahnFuhrer the "Expert Christian Theologian", AKA Mother’s Lament, with a head full of cement
So Mammary-Necrophilia-Fuhrer, Supreme Demonic Director of Decay, Destruction, and Death... WHEN are You going to STOP stealing the IDs of Your victims, and then posting kiddie porn in THEIR names, and then blaming THEM?
Inquiring minds want to KNOW, dammit!
"No significunt differences at all, according to THE Christian Theology Expert, The Great Mammary-Fuhrer!"
How about according to you, Shillsy?
Again, what’s the difference between “Evangelical” scripture and Catholic, Episcopalian, Syrian Orthodox and Coptic scripture?
Educating YOU is like (is actually the same as) trying to teach a slimy, lying leech! Why should I try to teach you ANYTHING? So that you can LIE about it, is the ONLY conceivable answer!
(Well OK, it's like putting lipstick on a pig. The pig doesn't look any better even if you "succeed", it annoys the pig, and you WILL get filthy-dirty, and perhaps bitten.)
SQRLSY should be taken to the vet and euthanized.
Don't Catholics and protestants have some differences in what they include in Biblical canon?
Let’s just ignore the fact that slavery was commonplace throughout the ancient world, or that the pagan philosopher Celsus (3rd c.) mocked Christianity as a religion "of women and slaves," or that the first recorded abolitionist in human history was St Basil the Great of Caesarea (4th c., one of the most esteemed Christian bishops and theologians), or that medieval European Christians were more often captives sold into Islamic slavery than slavers or slaveholders themselves, or that the abolitionist movement was largely religiously motivated and sought to appeal to the Christian conscience by insisting that all human beings are created in the Image of God.
But sure, Christianity is to blame for slavery. Why not.
I, of course, did not blame Christuanity exclusively for slavery. I simply stated that Christian scriptures sanctioned and supported slavery and thus served as agitprop for slavery.
The institution of slavery is most likely as old as the time when someone didn't want to go to the trouble of thought and effort to live, didn't want to freely exchange goods and services, and discovered that they could capture and throttle other humans to desired effect, just as humans did with domestication of other species.
Nevertheless, the fact that Islam was an offshoot of Christianity and that Christianity and Christendom took around 1800 years to just beginning to get rid of slavery shows that moral progress is not a strong suit of faith in general and this faith in particular.
And ackshuyally, Persian Emperor Cyrus The Great was the first ruler to abolish slavery and issue a general declaration of human rights in 539 B.C.E., over 900 years before St. Basil and nearly 1700 years before The Magna Carta. Zorastrianism was Cyrus' religion and it neither seeks nor wants converts. Many Jews and other peoples named their children Cyrus in honor of his comparatively benign empire.
Deist Thomas Paine was also an early Abolitionist who organized others in the effort to abolish slavery.
Ridding the world of the scourge of humans owning other humans is just respect for common humanity and exists regardless of and, too often, despite rekigion.
Ackshually, that whole "Cyrus the Great was the first abolitionist" meme is little more than an Internet myth. He was far more tolerant and accommodating of conquered peoples than his predecessors, and he was a relatively benign ruler in that regard, but the Cyrus Cylinder was not a declaration of human rights.
The Christian Scriptures stood out by how they urged slaveholders to treat slaves benevolently, and slaves and slaveholders in the context of the church were to think of themselves as brothers. "There is neither slave nor free in Christ," wrote Paul of Tarsus. Combined with the commandments given to all to serve each other, as Christ their shared master wills, the disruptive seeds of abolitionism were already present in this outlook.
If Islam is an offshoot of Christianity, and therefore Christianity bears some responsibility for how Muslims behave(d), then Enlightenment deism is an offshoot of Renaissance Christian humanism, and therefore Christianity can certainly take credit for the liberal radicalism of Paine. It goes both ways.
“The fact that Islam was an offshoot of Christianity”… yep, that about sums up your understanding of the subject
So how is what I cited "retarded?" It's nothing but straight text from The King James Version, and not much different than other versions.
Aren't you glad there are believers who behave better than their "holy" texts? Don't you wish everybody did?
It sure as hell matched Christian National Socialism to seven decimal places.
Those are your supporting citations for your argument that 'Old and New Testament condone and support the institution of slavery?' This is not even a stretch, it's risible and intellectually immature. I know you dislike religion, but your dislike is cultish to say the least. Atheism is the state of not believing in a god, not elevating a new set of beliefs into the position of a new deity, a detail you seem to forget.
“The founder of Christianity said nothing less than this: Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:34”
He also said, “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” Luke 6:27-28
The point is, Jesus said many things that were provocative* and are best understood, not in isolation and not always literally, but in the context in which they were given. (*He also employed hyperbole at times: “if your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away.” Matthew 5:29)
10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)
11 Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?” [John 18:10-11]
He clearly rejected use of force under these circumstances because this was necessary for his Cricifixion. But Peter carrying a sword raises serious questions about our argument. Luke 22:35-38 also shows that Jesus directed his apostles to buy swords.
Modern Christian pacifism is largely a response to the Thirty Years War where professional armies pillaged and raped across Germany. Serious resistance would have led to wholesale slaughter.
This weird obsession Reason has about the potential dangers of a "movement" whose entire aggregate could be comfortably seated in a single Olive Garden, is actually far more alarming than they are.

Well, at least you are acknowledging it as cant. There is hope for you yet. 🙂
It used to be said among many libertarians that a libertarian was a conservative who rejected Christianity. This is an overstatement, but the worship of marijuana, random sex, and other pleasures of the flesh is a major part of why Reason is where it is.
If only Reason had been more attentive in the 1990s to certain musings in academia in the 80s or the 90s, or the 2000s, or the 2010s, or early 2015, or late 2015, or mid 2017.

They're just prepping the kids for a Logan's Run future.
Renew! Renew!
I mean, once you mix the "suicide once you're a burden at all" bit with the "fucking at nine years old is fine" stuff, it starts to look a lot like the movie.
I think I saw that movie. The one with Don Jonson and a dog.

In the version SQRLSY watches, the dog and the boy are fucking.
“I don’t know a single person up here who supports MAID, but I keep seeing polls and articles telling us how wildly popular it is with Canadians and how everyone wants it expanded.”
Don’t you live in an isolated, rural, shithole part of Canada? Possibly on a reservation? Just saying the people you know may not be the best representation of the average Canadian.
"Don’t you live in an isolated, rural, shithole part of Canada? Possibly on a reservation?"
Now tell everyone again how MAGA is racist, KAR.
The funny part is, fuckwit's comment is as racist as one would expect from any progressive or left-leaning dim bulb. And, to no surprise, it is also classist, and demonstrates those groups' bigotry towards regions in the US and Canada.
Where's Jonathan Swift when you need him.
Dead. Canada killed him for blasphemy.

Yeah because a guy suffering from stomach cancer deciding he'd rather down a bottle of seconal and go to sleep and never wake up than spend 6 months in the most excruciating agony imaginable strapped to a hospital bed having 5 mg hydrocodones doled out to him one every 16 hours because we can't let him become an opioid addict is exactly like death camps for the homeless you disingenuous fucking shitpile.
Yeah, it’s not like Canada cares about the cost of keeping people alive.
That's the christian altruist way... pain & suffering goood...
That sure don't sound very nice, eh?

In a taxpayer-funded campaign to push 'woke' ideology onto the world, the UN is advocating for the decriminalization of adults having sex with children regardless of the child’s age so long as the child “consents.” At the very least, American taxpayers should not be underwriting the UN until it stops all promotion of pedophilia and sex trafficking.
[Link]
Undoubtedly, Groomer Jeffy and Shreek are volunteers for this effort.
I wish people would be more precise in how they use language when talking about this. There is a huge difference between saying "maybe 16 year olds can meaningfully consent to sex" and excusing sex with young children. The former is and has always been legal in much of the world (including most of the US). The latter, I hope everyone agrees, is just evil.
That said, why the fuck is the UN having anything to say on the subject?
Hey look, another reason writer faggot jumping on the "Christian nationalist" bandwagon. Do some research into the origins, or if you lazy listen to James Lindsay.
The people that pushed qanon as an ultra high tech right wing operation are the same people pushing the Christian nationalist narrative.
Reason has really jumped the shark on their writing. They are more similar to mother Jones at this point.
Bit of advice for Cody cook, please realize you are a retarded mouthpiece for people that hate the idea of freedom. Grow up, do some research, and learn the difference between lies and truth.
Today's Republican Party is openly Christo-Fascist. Reason is supporting Liberty in opposition to Christian Nationalism - which is central to conservatism today.
Christo-fascist as opposed to the original fascists like Mussolini, Goebbels and Bormann who pushed state atheism?
For a guy who consistently advocates an updated version of the Nazi's 1934 policy guide, you're pretty ballsy appending 'fascist' on others.
As in how Reason's Brian Doherty depicted:
That mixture is probably best characterized as Christo-fascism: an alleged dedication to pushing Christian beliefs and strictures in public policy combined with malign animus against those who are not white Christians.
And how does that work?
Christianity originated in the Middle East with a Palestinian Jew, all the books in its sacred texts were written by Palestinian Jews, and almost all its doctrinal writings originated in North Africa, Egypt, Syria and Turkey. The first Christian countries in the world were in Western Asia and Ethiopia.
That's kinda why the Nazis pushed neopaganism and atheism and enacted Kirchenkampf.
If you want to see something that confirms where the Nazis stood on religion, I highly recommend the Netflix mini-documentary Camp Confidential: America’s Secret Nazis.
It’s about Naturalized German Jewish American Citizens who were serving in the U.S. Army who were forced by the Army to ingratiate and schmooze up to captured Nazis who operated Nazi Germany’s V-2 program. The Nazis were brought here illegally not as Prisoners Of War but as a potential source of intelligence for the U.S. nuclear missile program and for the future NASA space program.
Anyhow, the Jews were forced to go to a Camp called “P.O. Box 1142” and entertain these Nazis to get them to tell all about their knowledge of rocketry.
The Jews had to swim with the Nazis at the pool, be their cabaña boys and mix drinks, play tennis with them, take them to bars and adult nightlife, take them shopping (and get kicked out of a Jewish department store when one of the Nazis was making lewd expressions about women’s underwear,) and just wait on the Nazis hand-and-foot until they spilled the beans.
The ultimate indignity was when the Jews had to translate from English to German and perform for the Nazis…Catholic and Protestant Midnight Masses for Christmas…One of the Jews used the term “those fucking sermons!”
No Pagan rituals or Atheist coffeehouse talk here. Just Christian worship done by a captive troupe of Jewish marionnettes for Nazi assholes who rained death on thousands of terrified British civilians and who believed in Gott Mitt Uns.
Yet another reason to despise and fight like Hell against the merger of Throne and Altar and of Religion and State, especially for the sake of Realpolitik..

Taking away your access to child pornography is not Christo-fascism, shreek. Even the most amoral degenerate atheists don't want you.
... as it was in 1856, and in 1929, 1932... and in Germany, 1933, when Positive Christianity took office.
"Hey look, "
You need to embrace your inner fascist. You'll feel much better for it.
You don’t have an “inner fascist”
it’s just what you are.
I did my research. See above. No one who wants freedom would want this to govern their society.
My point is that Christian nationalism is a buzzword that has been picked up and coordinated by the msm. The fact that reason has jumped on the band wagon shows ho much they have fallen.
Christian nationalism Is being pushed because the feds want more excuses to persecute anyone that doesnt tow the line of big give.
Christian Nationalism is more than a buzzword. Under the name Christian Reconstructionism and Dominionism, it tried infiltrating the Libertarian moment in the Early Eighties. Fortunately, Libertarians were hep to them and rightly exposed and denounced their attempts to fuse Theocratic Statism with the philosophy of freedom.
Yeah, no. It's another made-up scare pushed by dipshits wallowing in their own self-righteousness. Provide verifiable population figures for these 'Christian Nationalists,' not sourced from a horseshit political org or mouthpiece. Provide proof that they mean to supplant their version of morality versus simply living and let live -something you, i will add, seem unable to do. I will wager the 2023 Great Christian Nationalist scare is exactly like the great 'white supremacists are taking over the US' trope that occurred during the, oh, strange that, the 19 fucking 80s.
Yeah those evil Christians are just moments away from seizing the reins of government and then paying their taxes and obeying king! Shit your pants, you bootlicking Nazi faggot! The end is nigh!
And you forgot that they'll be making you pay taxes and worship their "King of Kings and Lord of Lords," you Ditz!
Fuck Off, Troll, no matter what your pronouns are!
At what point in the last 250 years has that happened?
You are unable to counter her (?) sarcastic post, so come up w/ the 'worship their king of kings' bs and call her a troll? Try for a bit of intellectual maturity.
Today's Republican Party, also known as what Brian Doherty calls "Christo-Fascism". MTG is the new MAGA queen:
The Republican Party’s primary focus this year should be on making the political party one of Christian nationalism, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said Saturday.
...
“We need to be the party of nationalism and I’m a Christian, and I say it proudly, we should be Christian nationalists,” she said

Joe Biden's Approval Rating Compared to Trump Rings Alarm Bells
"Joe Biden is more unpopular than Donald Trump was at the same stage in his presidency, according to a comparison of polling data conducted by political analytics website FiveThirtyEight. The website gave Biden a net approval rating of -14.6 percent on June 11, notably lower than the -10.9 percent Trump recorded the same number of days into his administration."
But wait! Approval rating must be totally disconnected from how well a President is doing. Because you've told us how awesome Carter was and yet...
"The FiveThirtyEight study also shows Biden is less popular following 874 days in the White House than all other post-war U.S. presidents, with the sole exception of Jimmy Carter. Just 41 percent of voters approve of the incumbent's performance at this stage in the electoral cycle, versus 42.3 percent for President Trump, 47.4 percent for Barack Obama and 61.5 for George W. Bush. Carter was significantly less popular than any other president 874 days into his administration, with an approval rating of just 28.8 percent."
LOL

It's pathetic, isn't it?
We could actually have an election where one candidate is a convicted felon sitting in prison and the other is a drooling vegetable connected to aspirator from a hospital bed.
In that case I go with the drooling vegetable over the criminal liar.
It is sad, like you imply.
Because I know you don't like the criminal liar either. What do you suggest? I say dump both.
Other than fast-tracking a Constitutional amendment establishing, effective immediately, nobody who is 75 years or older on election day can run for President? I still expect 2024 to be a rematch of 2020.
#OldAndOlder
How about anyone who isn't a net tax payer is not allowed to vote?
I like this idea but it would absolutely never pass. The Kleptocrats need the welfare vote too much.
Well, let's give everyone a token vote. And then more votes for those who pay net taxes.
Both of them are pushing 80. Likely as not, one or both of them will drop dead by election day.
Unless there is a new playbook, Trump will 'commit suicide' rather than face trial.
(should be interesting, what with the secret service and all - - - )
You're in luck, shreek. It turns out the drooling vegetable and the criminal liar are in fact the same exact person. The same senile dementia patient you supported last time around, from the same party as every president you have supported in the 20 years you've been infesting Reason.
We’re just one hostage crisis away from Biden being dead last.
Yeah right you POS. No-one can even figure out what religion Trump is but he's the Christian Nationalist leader....
UR a LYING POS.
Yeah the woman who got tossed off all committees by her own party is the face of the Republicans, shreek. But the child mutilating pedophiles literally enacting policy for the Democrats are just a fringe minority - or actual heroes, depending who you ask.
Reminds me of the Hitler speech of 02feb1933: (https://bit.ly/3zmFUHA)
Special Prosecutor has a history of getting smacked down by courts for attempts at breaking attorney client privileges and wire tapping defendants and their lawyers.
Is there an honest lawyer on his SP team?

The dude in the photo of that article looks like a very weathered Andrew heaton
Smith was chosen because of his history of making up novel legal theories and his corrupt prosecutorial strategies. He got a TDS judge in DC to pierce Trump's attorney/client privilege and that's really all he has. Trump needs to get an expedited ruling from SCOTUS.
He's really just following Garland's orders. They were looking for a corrupt sockpuppet and they found him.
They would have hired Episiarch/Bo Cara Esq. (dba Mike "White Mikey" Laursen) if only his law degree, engineering degree, and PhD in computer science were actually real.
Or his general contractor’s license.

The transgender movement has become pure evil.
"has become"?
Can we have a discussion on tenses?
I had a friend back in the early 80s who decided he was a woman trapped in a man's body. Dunno how far he went with the surgery thing but he would show up at the bar in short skirts, exhibiting stereotypical teen girl mannerisms and always giving me a big hug. He was always bitching about the fact that his wife had left him because, well, she wasn't a lesbian. The term that comes to mind is self absorbed. He wasn't a well adjusted person but he wasn't evil. And I'm pretty sure most of these people are not evil. I left town and lost track of him but I honestly hope he found somebody willing to put up with his idiosyncrasies and he's happy somewhere. He'd be in his late 60s now if he's still alive. I guess maybe I/we need to differentiate between transgender people and the transgender "movement". The movement is organized by Antifa, Marxists, academics and self interested "medical professionals". They are evil. People are people and I can live with their eccentricities. When cynical people use them to promote evil agendas I have a problem.
Yeah, I have a friend who was born intersexed, tried living as a rather scrawny and effeminate male for a good two decades, and then transitioned. She's just about as smart and sweet as you could want in a person. I really fear that all this retardation is going to result in a backlash that gets her hurt.
Your friend is now living in Maine and works as a fry cook when he's not passed out drunk.
You know who else was "just self-absorbed"?
I don’t know what is supposedly meant by “Christian Anarchism,” in this story. To have a faith that is divorced from politics is not anarchism. The New Testament even includes “render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s,” which encourages Christians to pay their taxes and submit to earthly governments.
Martyrs who refused to sacrifice to what they perceived as a false god weren’t taking a strong anarchist stance, they were making a principled stance on faith. They died for religious reasons, not in some attempt to overthrow the government.
Yeah I was raised JW and I'm not sure I agree with the characterization here. The "restorationist" label would seem to apply to most of protestantism. The JW dogma originated with a couple of wack jobs in the 19th century who came up with a novel interpretation of the Bible, part old testament part new testament with a whole lot of Revelations. They are indeed non violent but I wouldn't call them anti statists. They are just non participants.
JW is an interesting group. They went through a bunch of iterations before ending up where they did.
Not really. They are just continually backtracking on their Armageddon predictions.
Well there was Charles Russell's Bible Student movement which split off Free Bible Students, and then the Laymen's Home Missionary Movement, and then again into the Associated Bible Students and the Jehovah's Witnesses. Each time the doctrine shifting a little, particularly under Rutherford.
Well you are more well read on the subject than I, even though I was born into the cult in 1956 and didn't fall from grace until 17 years later. In my memory Russel and Rutherford were blessed by God with insights unavailable to other mortals. The faithful don't dig too deeply into these matters lest they find themselves faced with absurdity of the whole thing. My grandfather was one of the earliest converts in the early 1900s and actually wrote a book about this miraculous new religion. Don't know if it was ever published. I think my sister has a copy. I've never read it. I never will.
"submit to earthly governments."
Did not Paul go farther and say those set up to rule did so by divine right?
Yes. Romans 13:1-7. The bootlicking Nazi faggot cut off most of the verse above because it utterly obliterated his hurrrrrrrrrrrrr Christian nationalism durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr narrative.
You made my point for me all the more. Here, The Holy Bible is saying what Marx' intellectual predecessor Hegel said: "The State is the march of God on Earth."
Well, you may be a benefactor of extorted State bridge tolls, but they get the rest of us Billy Goats quite gruff when we don't ask for them.
Fuck Off, Troll!
Remember when the Shroud of Turin bundled up the Lazarus-raiser? Then along came those awful nuclear scientists with their pagan periodic table and ruined everything!
They weren't stereotypical insurrectionary, "abolish all hierarchies!" anarchists. They were more like "render the civil government totally irrelevant through voluntary, agapic communalism and virtuous conduct because our true citizenship is in the kingdom of God" anarchists.
And, of course, any Highway Patrol Officer at an accident scene will tell you that people die for delusions all the time.
Eek! Keith Olbermann is mad at Robby Soave.
Dear @thehill You've forfeited your right to keep doing this. Fire these conspiracy nuts @robbysoave and @briebriejoy, sell the cameras, shutter the operation, and hope you can regain your credibility as a sorta-news organization.
The #Russiagate fanatic who proclaimed "Trump is finished" in November *2017* - because Mueller was totally gonna force him out of office, remember - is labeling other people "conspiracy nuts."

Olbermann used to fuck Fox News hostess Laura Ingraham. Do you suppose that turned him gay?
(edit to add) Or maybe it turned her into a dyke?
Oh wow, Pluggo.
Wait until shreek finds out that his on-again off-again hero Bill Maher fucked Ann Coulter.
"Eek! Keith Olbermann is mad at Robby Soave."
Considering what a fucking idiot Keith Olbermann is, Robby should be proud.

White liberals feel betrayed after Muslim city council bans Pride flag. One woman argues they allowed the call to prayer when Muslims were in the minority, now they won’t reciprocate.
It’s just assumed LGBT is religion for white liberals.
[Link]
Did they "allow" the call to prayer to be broadcast from government building? Because if the answer is yes, then that was wrong too. But I presume she just means "in public". Which... the Hamtramck resolution doesn't ban the Pride flag from the public view, just from government buildings.
They were warned that Muslims reject them on a fundamental level, zero sympathy.
Let the great replacement begin.
When you let Buttplug create your curriculum:
Twelve-year-olds are being taught about anal sex in school while nine-year-olds are told to 'masturbate' for homework: The shocking lesson plans used by teachers in UK classrooms
I don’t want to guess what “show and tell” has turned into.
What. The. FUCK?!?!
Exactly.
It's okay. Mike and Jeff say this stuff isn't happening...
Which is good, because the illustrations of the kids masturbating made me black with rage.
The left not being able to dismantle the second amendment is going to be fatal for them.
They do seem to have suborned the military, though.
Feds Quietly Drop 5 Charges Against Sam Bankman-Fried
"Federal prosecutors asked a judge on Thursday to remove five charges against alleged crypto fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried, including bribery of a foreign government official...
The charges, however, have instead been “severed,” or punted to 2024"
So it won't become an issue until after the election when they can safely drop them for good and plea-bargain the rest away.
The fix is in.
How Jeff was made:
Do you boast about your fitness? Watch out – you’ll unavoidably become rightwing

I became right-wing playing hockey as a child.

Yeah, same with me for soccer. I was just trying to make a joke about "wingmen" or something. 😀

Dear God please tell me you were eating Tim Hortons with maple syrup on top.. That would be a true canadian
Not at the time, but I have had a maple glazed cruller. Unfortunately Sugar Maples are an Eastern Canadian thing. They don't grow out West.
West of Sault Ste. Marie the Canadian leaf should be a Poplar.
Used to cross into the frozen wasteland out of Michigan at Sault St Marie back in the day. Couldn't help but be struck by what an impoverished shithole it was compared to the US side despite the stunning natural beauty of the place. Same crossing into Windsor from Detroit. Yeah I said Detroit. That you poor bastards manage to survive up there is remarkable. You have my admiration and my sympathy. Of course if the shit gets too real there's always the assisted suicide option.
Oh, I'm from much, much, much farther up there than Windsor, which is south of Detroit and is on the same latitude as Istanbul, Rome and Barcelona.
Even though I've lived in Europe, South America and the US, I've only actually been east of Winnipeg (in Canada) once. And like you I didn't care for it.
A skeptic's guide to humans:
Human behavior is driven mostly by emotions, intuitions, and subconscious biases, reinforced by tribal affinity. Not only is objective reason too much effort, it is actively resisted.
Most humans must belong to a tribe. The initial choice of tribe is often arbitrary, controlled by birth family and location. Occasionally humans rebel against their initial tribe but then default to whatever appeals as the tribe most opposed.
Tribes are reinforced by faith. Humans have an innate need to indulge the feeling of belief, i.e. selecting and embracing specific ideas without, and often contrary to, objective evidence. Belief provides personal fulfillment (and again discourages independent and critical thinking).
Humans also desire strong leadership. While some aspire to lead, many are happy to follow. They prefer, and often impose, infallible if not divine leaders. And like tribes and faith, leaders become part of a reinforcing cycle of life by ideology.
"Human behavior is driven mostly by emotions, intuitions, and subconscious biases, reinforced by tribal affinity."
Human behavior is generally not seen by skeptics and other self described judges because they are too busy watching the news and reading online outrage porn to actually notice what is going on around them.
So no real rebuttal.
ps. When you watch the news, do you believe?
How, exactly, did you emancipate yourself from the "human behavior" tribe?
Because, AFAICT, your tenets of "human behavior" don't strictly apply to humans or even (un)natural intelligence and only exclude strictly mechanistic physical behavior.
Not only did I learn less about Christian anarchy, I didn't find anything about the origins of Christian nationalism.

The one that shows “no life threatening injuries identified” and reveals high levels of multiple additional drugs on top of the Fentanyl that was initially reported.

Flag burning?
On one hand, if it wasn't their flag, then it's a crime to burn it.
On the other hand, maybe a pride flag shouldn't be flying at an elementary school in the first place.
On the gripping hand, California is run by morons.
I'll put up $100 right now that it's a literal false flag operation and the flag was burned by someone to foment accusation against parents and/or add another tally to all the anti-LGBTQ hate crime counts.
It sounds like this was a 4" x 6" novelty flag someone stuck in a potted plant that wasn't even entirely consumed in whatever flag-burning antics were intended to desecrate it.

Are you claiming Trump is a Movie Star and didn't make his money in real estate, Shrike?
You voted for a corrupt, treasonous, senile moron who molested his preteen daughter in the shower and violently raped one of his senate staffers a few years later.
You'd think that would be good news to a guy who supports literally every single plank of the Nazi Party platform as its been restated for the Democratic Party platform.
It's nice to see that yet another neocon warmonger with a Nazi for a father has entered shreek's good graces though, isn't it? If Bill Kristol ever writes a column in support of decriminalizing child pornography I think they might be in this love together.
Nobody will ever take Soros' Jewish-property taking, Nazi-supporting place in his heart.
He's right about one thing: lots of government agents participated in Kristallnacht and in J6.
Will there be a followup story on Jewish Capitalism?

BIDEN FAKE SCANDAL UPDATE!
Giuliani Now Claims Witness With Evidence On Biden Has Died
No one believes this human garbage can's story.
.
First, Kentucky Rep. James Comer, the House Oversight Chairman, admitted that his fellow Republicans lost track of a critical witness in the alleged (and likely fabricated) Biden bribery scheme. Then, earlier this month, he told a Newsmax host that he couldn't confirm if the alleged recordings are legit that involve the scheme between then-Vice President Biden, Hunter Biden, and a foreign national.
..
And now, former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani claims that a woman who had evidence on the Biden family in the bribery plot "passed away inexplicably." No, really. The deranged lunatic who leaks hair dye from his rattled brain says it's true, so it must be.
https://crooksandliars.com/2023/06/giuliani-now-claims-witness-evidence-biden
Imagine seeing all these witnesses die and inexplicably disappear after knowing what we now know about Crossfire Hurricane and the Hunter laptop, and still pretending that is totally not suspicious as fuck.
You buried the lede. Giuliani has been going around saying a woman who died years before Hunter Biden joined the Burisma board is the missing witness.
Cite?
If you can't trust a credible, neutral source like Crooks and Liars to honestly characterize a Democratic party bribery scandal, who can you trust?
It's a good thing that Rudy Guiliani has quite literally nothing to do with the mountains of documented evidence of Biden and his family acting illegally and unethically or else this article full of links to random Twitter accounts with 50 followers would be really devastating, shreek. Almost as devastating as that time you got your original Sarah Palin's Buttplug account banned for posting dark web links to hardcore child pornography.
BREAKING — Emails from the Biden laptop reveal a newly discovered Hunter Biden Maltese bank account opened by Burisma that coincides with the $10 million bribery allegations involving Biden and Burisma, as reported by an FBI source.
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1669754026009960449.html
Was that bribery note tattooed on Hunter Biden's dick?
I have yet to see a pic of Hunter's dick but based on the comments here it must be spectacular.
Pluggo can't stop raving about it.
All legitimate “business men “ have bank accounts in Malta. No big.
Buttplug insisted yesterday that Ukrainian firms often hire 3rd-tier tweaker lawyers to consult with, and never consider whether they're the son of the US vice president when doing so.
There’s could be 10,000 word New Yorker style thinkpiece as to why Shrike still maintains the “Sarah Palin” moniker.
But Episiarch/Bo Cara Esq. (dba Mike "White Mikey" Laursen) says this is all based on a lie Guiliani told about a woman who died years before Burisma hired Hunter Biden's Penis to sit on its board. Do you really think Episiarch/Bo Cara Esq. (dba Mike "White Mikey" Laursen) would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?

The government spin so far is we need more gun control. Not like ya know get these thugs off the streets.
From Gunther Grass's memoir "Peeling the Onion"
"From the outset, I had what was known in the Labor Service as a cushy job: I was good at drawing and had a way with colors, and was therefore considered privileged. The walls of the canteen in our stone mess hall were to be adorned with pictures inspired by the juniper bushes, the water hole complete with reflected clouds, and the birches of the half-flat, half-hilly heath. Desired but not essential: a frolicking water nymph.
After the usual morning drill—rifle practice, first with a spade, then with a 98 carbine—I was released to make sketches from nature: all afternoon I could absent myself from the camp with my watercolors, water bottle, and drawing pad. Beautiful clouds, shiny black ponds, birches in front of or behind gigantic erratic boulders made their way onto the paper in saturated colors. I soon had a pile of sketches to paint in distemper on the canteen’s white walls.
Day after day in the morning drill, we went through a ceremony conducted by the corporal in charge of weapons, a man who looked serious on principle. He handed them out, we grabbed them. It goes without saying: every member of the Labor Service was to feel honored by the touch of the wood and metal, the butt and barrel of the carbine in his hands.
And we boys did, in fact, inflate ourselves to men when we stood at attention with our guns by our sides or presented them or marched with them on our shoulders. You might say that we took the expression “A soldier’s gun is a soldier’s bride” literally. We thought of ourselves as engaged, if not quite married, to the 98 carbine.
Though I make a point of using “we” here, there was an exception to that rank-and-file, somewhat facile plural. This exception was a lanky boy who was so blond and blue-eyed, and whose profile revealed a skull so elongated that the likes of him could be found only in propaganda promoting the Nordic race. Chin, mouth, nose, forehead—each was the epitome of “racial purity.” He was untainted: no trace of a wart on neck or temple. He neither lisped nor stuttered when ordered to report. No one could beat him in long-distance running; no one could match his daring when leaping over musty ditches or his agility when clambering over a wall. He could do fifty knee bends without getting tired. There was nothing, no flaw, to sully the picture. But what made him an exception was that he—his name eludes my memory—was an insubordinate: he refused to take part in rifle drill; worse still, he refused to take butt or barrel in hand; and, worst of all, when our dead-earnest drill instructor pressed the carbine on him, he would drop it. Which made him or his fingers criminal.
With the spade, a basic utensil for everyone in the Labor Service, he did all that he was ordered to do. He would also have received top marks in camaraderie. He was the friendly, good-natured type, always ready to help, and he never complained. Upon request, he would give his comrades’ boots such a regulation shine that they would be a feast for sore eyes, even the eyes of the strictest N.C.O. during roll call. He had no trouble with brushes or dustcloths; it was only the firearm he refused to wield.
Every possible sort of punitive labor was imposed upon him, but nothing helped. He would work conscientiously for hours without a peep, emptying the latrine with a worm-infested bucket on a long stick—a punishment known as “honey-slinging” in soldiers’ slang—only to appear, freshly showered, at rifle drill shortly thereafter and refuse to wield the weapon once again. I can see it falling to the ground as if in slow motion.
At first we merely asked him questions and tried to talk him out of it. We actually liked the fellow, this oddball, this knucklehead: “Take it! Just hold it!” But when they took to punishing us on his account and tormented us in the hot sun until we collapsed, we all began to hate him. I, too, worked up my ire against him. We were expected to give him a hard time, and so we did. He had put us under pressure; we would return the favor. He was beaten in his barracks by the very boys whose boots he had polished mirror-bright. All against one. Through the boards that divided room from room, I could hear his whimper, the snap of the leather belt, the loud counting. These sounds are ingrained in my memory. But neither the hazing nor the beatings, nor anything else, could force him to carry arms.
Morning after morning, when we gathered for roll call and the drill instructor started passing out the weapons, the incorrigible insubordinate would let the one meant for him fall to the ground like the proverbial hot potato and immediately return to his ramrod position, hands pressed to trouser seams, eyes fixed on a distant point.
I cannot count the number of times he repeated his mantra, a catchphrase that has never left me: “We don’t do that.” He stuck to the plural. In a voice neither loud nor soft, he pronounced what he and his refused to do. Four words fusing into one: Wedontdothat.
When he was asked what he meant, he repeated the indefinite “that” and refused to call the object he would not take in his hands by its name.
His behavior transformed us. From day to day, what had seemed solid crumbled. Our hatred was mixed first with amazement, then with admiration expressed in questions like “How can that idiot keep it up?” “What makes him so hard-nosed?” “How come he doesn’t report sick? He’s been pale as a ghost lately.”
Then we let him be. No more beatings on the bare behind. The insubordinate stood above us, as if on a pedestal.
In the end, this morning ritual was cut off by his arrest. “Off to the cooler with him!” came the command.
From then on, discipline and order reigned. Every once in a while, the “convict” came up in our conversations. Someone—was it the drill instructor or one of us?—would say, “He must be a Jehovah’s Witness.” Or, “He’s a Bible nut. No doubt about it.” But the blond, blue-eyed boy with the racially pure profile had never referred to the Bible or Jehovah or any other Almighty; he had said simply, “Wedontdothat.”
One day his locker was cleared out: private things, including religious pamphlets. Then he was gone—“transferred,” it was called. We did not ask where to. I did not ask. But we all knew. He had not been discharged as unfit for service; no, we whispered, “he has long been ripe for the concentration camp.”
And since we knew of the camp, Stutthof, only by hearsay, we thought Wedontdothat—which was what we called him in secret—was in good hands. “They’ll bring old Wedontdothat down a peg or two.”
Was it all as simple as that?
Did no one shed a tear?
Did everything go on as it had before?
I must say that I was, if not glad, then at least relieved when the boy disappeared. The storm of doubts about everything in which I’d had rock-solid faith died down, and the resulting calm in my head prevented any further thought from taking wing: mindlessness had filled the space. I was pleased with myself and sated. A self-portrait from that period would have shown me well nourished."

There's like five of them total, but Reason writes far more articles fretting about them than the woke.
We're being gaslit.
There’s like five of them total
Nope. Not as many as some people have claimed, but 10% who are, and 19% who are more or less supportive. That makes roughly 35 million Americans who are, and 70 million Americans who are supportive. I don't know where you studied arithmetic, but "like five" is somewhat less than 35 million.
https://www.discoursemagazine.com/culture-and-society/2023/03/03/how-many-americans-are-christian-nationalists/
More on the study cited:
https://www.prri.org/research/a-christian-nation-understanding-the-threat-of-christian-nationalism-to-american-democracy-and-culture/
I completely fucking apologize, Lawyer Shrike. I just read your "study's" criteria for qualifying as a Christian Nationalist. It's super legit.
Appendix A. Christian Nationalism Scale Methodology
To measure Christian nationalism, the PRRI/Brookings Christian Nationalism Survey included a battery of five questions about the relationship between Christianity, American identity, and the U.S. government. Respondents were asked whether they completely agree, mostly agree, mostly disagree, or completely disagree with each of the following statements:
•The U.S. government should declare America a Christian nation.
•U.S. laws should be based on Christian values.
•If the U.S. moves away from our Christian foundations, we will not have a country anymore.
•Being Christian is an important part of being truly American.
•God has called Christians to exercise dominion over all areas of American society.
Complete agreement with a statement is assigned a score of 1, while complete disagreement is assigned a score of 0. Americans who mostly agree or mostly disagree are assigned scores 0.67 and 0.33, respectively. Agreement with these statements is highly internally consistent, with a Cronbach’s alpha score of 0.92. Averaging these scores across the five statements creates an individual’s scale score, with an average score among all Americans of 0.32. Respondents who did not provide a response for at least three of the five statements were not assigned a scale score.
So it didn't matter if people identified as "Christian Nationalists" or not and held or advanced a philosophy centered around Christianity as an ethnicity and nationality. It didn't even provide a definition of what "Christian Nationalism" was. It asked a series of five short jingoistic cultural touchstone questions and assigned an identity based on that.
Now that's some serious quantitative research and empirical evidence. Totally not a fishing trip.
Mea culpa.
Still more than "like, five". I provided evidence for my position, though necessarily you had to reject it. How about providing your evidence for this very small number (I won't hold you to the literal five) you think are out there? After all, you were the one who made the initial claim.
It asked a series of five short jingoistic cultural touchstone questions and assigned an identity based on that.
If the questions were jingoistic, surely someone who wasn't would reply differently from someone who was, right?
Or is this one of those, "it's unfair to ask questions that expose what I really think" things?
This first link has the following subhead:
"Two recent surveys show that while Christian nationalism is problematic, it does not threaten our democracy"
Yes, nor had I previously claimed otherwise. But that is a very different position from MoLa's claim that they're a vanishingly small number.
Yeah I don't actually know what "Christian Nationalism" is but it appears to be a newly minted description of something that has always been around but lends itself to scare quotes so outfits like Reason can pretend it's some sort of threat to civilization. I am not a practicing Christian and I don't have a dog in this fight but the US was founded by people who were mostly of that persuasion. The culture is obviously influenced by the Judeo-Christian philosophy. We also have a constitutional amendment that forbids the establishment of a state religion. There has always been a constituency for a Christian state but they have never prevailed at the federal level. If anything, that group is smaller and weaker today than at any time in the history of the republic. The entire conversation is just silly.
Yeah I don’t actually know what “Christian Nationalism” is
Have you discovered Google? There are lots of sources for this, e.g.
https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2021/february-web-only/what-is-christian-nationalism.html
There is also that classic internet debate exchange:
A: I don't know what X is
B: here's an explanation about X
A: I disagree
And from a religious freedom perspective: https://bjconline.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/WhatIsChristianNationalism.pdf
There’s like five of them total, but Reason writes far more articles fretting about them than the woke.
There's like five of them total and the totality of their activism consists of writing, "Hey, what if Classical Liberalism repeatedly/predictably/always leads to the oppressive, libertine, progressivism we see today?" letters back and forth to each other and Reason's take isn't "Free speech!" but "Purge it from human consciousness!"... again.
What a brave little brownshirt you are! Standing ever-ready to murder those Christians plotting to take over the world and then pay their taxes and obey the king. Just make sure to wear your three paper masks and get your weekly booster first - you might die if you step foot outside to murder Christians without being properly blessed by Fauci the Father, Biden the Son and Birx the Holy Spirit you pathetic little LARPing faggot bootlicking Nazi bitch.
You didn't mention trannies is your rant. If you want to be taken seriously around here, please include trannies in your next laundry list of wrongthinkers. You do an excellent job at covid hysteria and nazi naming calling though, so take heart.
I didn't know you were a fan of castrating gay kids to create effete catamites. How long have you been an aficionado?
"I didn’t know you were a fan of castrating gay kids to create effete catamites."
And how long have you been reading me? How long has everyone been a fan? We talk of little else these days. Trista Tervort's lack of trannie bashing. I thought was a grave breach of conduct. I was ready to excuse it with a friendly word of advice. On second thought, Trista Tervort her/him self could be a tranny and/or a groomer who doesn't write anything negative about them, hoping to satisfy our need to demonize the Other by diverting our attention to the usual suspects, the Democrats, the scientists, and of course, the nazis.
You're happy to pray to the progress flag, you fucking tumor
BTW who amongst you right-wingers/conservatives here is an agnostic or an atheist?
Most of us are agnostic, Reencog is the atheist.
But we can identify cheap, anti-Christian demagoguery when we see it.
Not a practicing Christian and probably an atheist if I would have to choose a deity. But all of this screeching about Christian Nationalism isn't about religion. It's about politics so I get to have an opinion.
Yep. I was raised Christian and take my kids to church. I've been agnostic my entire adult life. Regardless of my personal issues with organized religion, I see plenty of value in the morality and community of the church. I think depriving my children of the concept of the divine is wrong. I also would like for them to have a greater authority over their life than myself (especially since I'm vocal about rejecting the authority of government.)
The entire tone of this article is strange to me. Christians are far from anarchists. Christians follow the rule of God and his tenets. Catholics follow God and the Pope. Even if you eliminate the state they are held to a set of rules and structure.
Just another article attempting to create boogeymen on the right while blatantly ignoring the left

As of right now - I still intend to vote for the nominee. But there is no world I’m running defense and cover for Trump on twitter (or anywhere else) again. Did that for four years. He’s burned down any shred of sympathy and respect I once had for him - if conservatives are dumb enough to nominate this guy - the magadonians can play defense for him without our help.
Then I’ll protest vote for him in the general just for us to lose a historic landslide - and hear for 4 more years that 2028 is also “TRUMPS TURN

It's disgusting how he is denigrated by the Trump Wing of the GOP. He was beaten daily for 6 years by Communists. And they call him names. But idolize Trump - yet Trump dodged the draft - and McCain fought & served. Trump people have a strange idea of heroism, Go figure. Why not hate his politics, but respect his service? Is that so hard?
I can’t entirely disagree with the post as long as I understand: “I still intend to vote for the nominee.”, “I’ll protest vote for him in the general”, and “the magadonians can play defense for him without our help”.
I’ve said before I don’t like Ronnie D. any more than I like Trump and if he wins the nomination, I’d still vote for him. And, in turn, if Ronnie D. is stumbling into war (or continues the current stumble) and whistling past the Deep State while pwning the libs in every Martha’s Vineyard across the country, I’m still going to say I fucking told you so. (Setting aside all the black pills of election engineering and whether Trump would get us out of Ukraine or effectively destroy the Deep State as well). The whole point of someone other than Trump was not to get a popular, career Republican who’s Trump Light *or* to get someone who’s better for the party or brand. It was to get someone who’s actually better for liberty and Ronnie is between Trump, W, and John McCain in an “also ran” fashion.
Reason, how about an article on the belligerent nationalism of the LGBTQ+ people? How about an article of the Democratic parties current anti-white racism? I find it odd you find boogeymen everywhere on the right, but none on the left.
Democratic fascism: A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
Christian Nationalism dates back far, but the modern version can trace back to the Moral Majority at least. As a kid I was dragged to one meeting where the Moral Majority was announced to an evangelical church meeting. In a nutshell, and interpreted in hindsight, the upshot was "God is too slow, we must take God's will into our own hands and get into politics and implement God's will through the state."
But of course it goes back further than this. Christian Dominionists used to call for the creation of an explicit Christian state, people like R.J.Rushdooney, to the embarrassment of libertarians everywhere. His goal wasn't small government, but disempowering existing government so a theocracy could be erected.
Regardless, this new Christian Nationalism is profoundly un-Christian and non-Biblical. Jesus did not call upon his followers to rule over others. Neither was he an anarchist, who called upon both tax collectors and centurions to follow him without the precondition of abandoning their vocations. But he also railed against taxes and the sword.
The Kingdom of God is not of this earth. The Prosperity Gospel is false. The Political Gospel is false. The Christian need not abandon politics, but they must never place it above God, nor take God's timetables into their own hands. The Kingdom will come, and it will not be of this Earth.
Nice job of destroying the BS lefty-narrative attempted to be painted in this article. You're 100% correct. Real Christians don't believe that the Power of the State is their almighty God. That's something the left does all by itself and then PROJECTS it anyway they can.
So how's all that going? How close are they to taking over?
The best source is The Darkening Age, by Nixey. The Lalla Ward audio performance is well worth the extra investment.
How about an article on the religious nationalism of Islam, complete with photos or paintings of Mohammed? Christians were tempered by the governments of Constantine in the early 300s, then by Charlemagne in the early 800s, then by Henry VIII in the 1500s, and by a number of other rulers.
Who has tempered Islam in the last 1400 years? C'mon, speak up, speak up!

I'm not saying that Christian nationalism does not exist as if it is Santa Claus or something like that. But it is not as prevalent as some think. From my 61 years of experience with protestant churches, most Christians respect government, feel blessed that the US provides religious freedom and have no interest in mandating belief. To point to the contrary is founded in other opposition.
So let's say that you are a Christian that believes that abortion is wrong. Are you allowed to voice your opinion on that and vote for candidates that feel the same? Or is that supporting Christian Nationalism? You're just expressing an opinion by your vote. Does this mean that pro-choice voters should get their way because your position is based in your faith? Slippery slope.
But here is the truth. The overwhelming majority of Christians that I know relish freedom but don't want to be forced to deny their belief for society's norms. For example, marry who you want to but don't ask me to applaud. And in return, allow me to express my beliefs respectfully.
Only a Christian fool would want Federal Laws to mimic the Bible. There are hundreds of denominations, so who wins that one?
Neither "Christian Nationalism" nor "Christian Anarchism" exist. Both are FRAUDULENT terms invented for the express purpose of political fraud.

Wow, you're actually comparing an illegal effort to deprive Trump of his civil rights, with the trial of Nazis.
Did you know that all the Nazis at the Nuremberg trials had lawyers, Shillsy? And that not even the Soviets tried to deprive them of legal representation by harrassing their lawyers?
Wow, you're actually worse than Stalin.
Were the NAZI-defending lawyers allowed to deliberately and knowingly LIE IN COURT, Oh Ye Great Servants and Serpents of the Evil One?
Yes they were, you psychotic fuck. Add court cases to yet another thing Shillsy doesn't understand.
Are you seriously comparing Trump to Nazi war criminals? You are seriously fuckign deranged.

If scum-sucking, LYING lawyers want to STOP getting in trouble... STOP LYING IN COURT!!!
They were good socialists though.
"Were the NAZI-defending lawyers allowed to deliberately and knowingly LIE IN COURT"
Shillsy's literally arguing that a defendant can't have legal representation if the accuser says the defense is a "lie".
When I say he's a Nazi, I'm not kidding.
Marxist Mammary-Necrophilia-Fuhrer is literally saying that offenders AND THEIR LYING LAWYERS are literally allowed to torture to death, and then drink the blood of, the innocent new-born baby Christians! Marxist Mammary-Necrophilia-Fuhrer, have You never heard that courts are supposed to be FACT-FINDING institutions? What does "perjury" mean in YOUR Perfectly Evil, Twisted Mind?

But denying someone their right to legal defense has zero to do with perjury, Shillsy.
Have you ever heard of a little something called the sixth amendment?
"Amendment VI
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.
I know you're not too big on constitutional rights though, and you probably think that I'm quoting some right-wing blog.
Amendment 666, Written by Marxist Mammary-Necrophilia-Fuhrer the Demonic, Demented Despot:
"Justice" shall be defined as allowing (and ENCOURAGING!) any and all dense defense lawyers (only when defending the RIGHT Tribe!) to trample and Trumple truth underfoot, by telling any and all LIES that come to their demented heads, and piss and pass it off ass the TRUTH! Because "truth" is whatever the Demonic, Demented Despot known as Marxist Mammary-Necrophilia-Fuhrer says that shit it!
So now you're anti-sixth amendment.
Taking that into account along with your penchant for government spying, censorship and mandatory vaccination, you sure are libertarian.
