A conservative legal group has filed a civil rights complaint against the Providence, R.I., school system with the U.S. Department of Education over the system's "Educator of Color Loan Forgiveness Program." The program helps pay off teachers' student loans, but only if the teachers "identify as Asian, Black, Indigenous, Latino, biracial, or multi-racial."

In many districts the 9 months of work is paid out over 12 months, so the biweekly paychecks are smaller than you’d expect.

After-tax you’re talking $725 a week.

It’s solid money, but not spectacular in an environment (like Providence) where average rent is $1850 a month for a 1 bed/1bath.

There is a whole reporter's beat about culture, politics and the malleability of the mind here.

In 2008 every reporter and columnist in the country was writing about a post-racial society. If only we would vote for Obama, it would signal the end of racism and our true enlightenment would arrive.

Then Obama got elected... and immediately said "elections have consequences", refused to even pretend to work with the opposition, spent 2 years ramming through a Healthcare reform bill that nobody seemed to care about the contents of other than lobbyists, and as a part of that process anyone who opposed anything about the president was immediately labeled a racist.

The Democrats had discovered the solution to a problem they never expected to have. Black voters and Hispanic voters leaving for the Republican party. They had always been far more conservative than the DNC, but fear of racism kept them in line.

So an entire industry was born of think tanks, lobbyists, academics and activists, working full time to recreate a racist society.

They moved the language as they manipulated the news and the culture.

Black? People of Color. Gotta make sure they all identify as a single group. Then BIPOC. Because reasons. Then we bring in the complete malleability of reality. Now your "identity" is what matters.

Identify as whatever you want.... and importantly, we will identify you as whatever we want too. Rachel Dolezal is black because she works as an activost for "us" and says she identifies as black. But Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Condoleezza Rice and their ilk are not black. In fact, they are white supremacists. And Nazis.

And here we are. The law on race is no longer for guaranteeing equality before the law. We don't even simply allow exceptions to right historical wrongs and their lingering effects. No, we now have equity and diversity as our national goals.

Equality of outcome is kinda the implied goal... but equity does not demand that. Equity demands that white men be denied access to the best schools. Because diversity. Equity demands that objective measures be abandoned. Because racism.

This all happened within a couple of years. We went from MLK being a national hero and a dream of a colorblind society as our highest ideal to a world where only a white supremacist would speak of a colorblind society.

If you cover politics in America, this is the primary story of the last decade. This, and our transformation from a society of individual freedom, freedom of speech and freedom of the press to a society that demands that only approved messages can be shared or promoted.

The transformation has been staggering and blindingly fast. And nobody is covering this as what it is... a political strategy to size and maintain power. Ever increasing power.

This is the largest story there is. The fact that a society based on the Bill of Rights as the most noble part of our law... demanding an end to free speech as a racist and dangerous idea.... it is astonishing. Black "leaders" demanding that we not even attempt to create a colorblind society... all ending with leftist governments creating special programs and cutouts for any number of "diverse" groups that have one thing in common... they all recognize the inherent threat that is whiteness and maleness.

This is an inherently libertarian story. There has not been a greater threat to Liberty in America since the end of Jim Crow. The nation's leading libertarian publication should be covering this the way they used to cover police brutality.

Also of note, looking past the issue of identifying as 1/1024 Native American, the state has effectively designated 'educators' as yet another protected class as well.
