Kari Lake's Defeat Is the Latest Disaster for Arizona's Trump-Backed Republicans
Voters rejected other Republicans who have cozied up to the former president, including Senate candidate Blake Masters and secretary of state candidate Mark Finchem.

After several days of ballot counting, the Arizona governor's race has ended with former President Donald Trump's preferred candidate losing. The Associated Press reported Monday that Republican Kari Lake was defeated by Democrat Katie Hobbs, who currently serves as Arizona's secretary of state.
"Arizonans know BS when they see it," Lake tweeted after media outlets and election observers began to call the race for Hobbs. Lake previously hinted that she might take issue with a loss, telling CNN's Dana Bash last month, "I'm going to win the election, and I will accept that result."
Lake, a longtime local news anchor whose campaign centerpieces included conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election and frequent attacks on the media, is one of several high-profile, Trump-endorsed Republicans who lost major statewide races in Arizona. She joins Senate candidate Blake Masters and secretary of state candidate Mark Finchem in that distinction; Abe Hamadeh, the Trump-endorsed Republican candidate for attorney general, slightly trails his Democratic opponent, though that race has not yet been called.
A recount in the gubernatorial race would be prompted under a new state law if Hobbs' lead falls to 0.5 percent or less of the total votes cast (she's currently up by 0.78 percent, per The New York Times). Lake and her allies have already suggested that Arizona's elections were tainted by malfeasance, which Republican election officials have rejected and a Maricopa County judge has rebuked. But Lake's loss isn't evidence of some grand conspiracy—it's simply the latest instance of Arizonans rejecting Trumpist conservatism.
Beyond election denialism, Lake campaigned on a smattering of big-government policies and frequently showed a willingness to wield state power to punish the people and ideas she disliked. She put forth a legally dubious plan to declare an invasion at the U.S.-Mexico border and fend off incoming migrants, promising to finish Trump's costly and ineffective border wall as well. She says "lying 'journalists' (propagandists)" should be "punished." Though she claims to support school choice, she also wants to "align state standards to the Hillsdale 1776 curriculum" and ban "critical race theory and other radical ideologies," making no distinction between public and private institutions. That attitude runs counter to actual support for school choice.
A Republican candidate with more moderate tendencies could've capitalized on Arizonans' concerns about inflation and the economy. If nothing else, President Joe Biden's abysmal approval ratings might've predicted a swing toward the right in Arizona. "Americans are remarkably unhappy with Democrats on issues including the economy and energy policy, and they were keen to support Republicans who ran actual campaigns based on ideas," J.D. Tuccille writes for Reason. "But GOP candidates who kept up the tired drumbeat of election denialism and cultish fealty to Donald Trump drew minimal enthusiasm across the country."
Even before the election, polls indicated that Lake and other Trump-endorsed candidates were focusing heavily on issues that Arizonans didn't prioritize. A CBS News/YouGov poll put the economy and inflation as the top issues among likely voters in Arizona, followed by immigration, a central plank of Lake's campaign. As for election issues—which 61 percent of likely voters called a very important issue—only 18 percent of surveyed registered voters said they wanted elected officials in Arizona to say Biden didn't win in 2020. The remaining 82 percent were split evenly between preferring elected officials who said Biden did win, and feeling that it didn't matter what they said.
With over one-third of Arizona voters being registered independents, Republicans and Democrats alike need to garner support beyond their bases in order to win state office. Taken through that lens, the losses of New Right candidates like Lake and Masters and the successes of low-key Democrats like Hobbs and Sen. Mark Kelly make a bit more sense. "Arizona is a conservative state," Republican strategist Barrett Marson told Arizona Republic columnist Laurie Roberts. "We are not a Trump state."
Indeed, the Arizona GOP's biggest winner so far has been a candidate Trump didn't endorse: Kimberly Yee, the Republican reelected state treasurer. Though she cozied up to the former president during a run for governor, her treasurer campaign took on a more staid tone and had little to do with Trump. As of this article's writing, Yee had the most votes of any Arizona candidate for Senate, governor, attorney general, secretary of state, or state treasurer, with over 95 percent of votes tallied in those statewide races. She leads her Democratic challenger by over 11 percentage points.
By no means is Hobbs' victory a win for supporters of small government. The Democrat will take office with a laundry list of priorities that would expand the size and expenditures of the state, from launching universal pre-kindergarten to rolling back the expansion of school vouchers. Though Hobbs says she won't raise taxes, she repeatedly supported tax increases as a state legislator. Questions about her transparency began to swirl after she refused to participate in a televised debate with Lake.
An introspective Arizona GOP would look at these election results with an eye to the future rather than a fixation on the past. Prioritizing the 2020 presidential election and unwavering devotion to Trump are clearly no way for Republicans to secure elected positions in the state. Conversely, an introspective Democratic Party would realize that its slim margins of victory are in large part the result of Republican disarray and not a compelling platform of its own. Without those adjustments, Arizona voters will continue to see candidates who have little love for the principles of small government and individual liberty.

Won by the election ballot counter-in-chief.
As I said in the Roundup; suddenly pulling ahead and winning unanticipated, come-from-behind victories, by perfect margins, four days after polls close, in the dead of night, only from mail-in votes, with the victor also the official in charge of the count, is obviously legitimate.
Good enough for Reason Editors. As long as Democrats win.
Google pay 200$ per hour my last pay check was $8500 working 1o hours a week online. My younger brother friend has been averaging 12000 for months now and he works about 22 hours a week. I cant believe how easy it was once I tried it outit.. ? AND GOOD LUCK.:)
HERE====)> ???.?????????.???
It may all be perfectly legitimate. But as FoE said in the comments the other day, they couldn't make this look any more suspicious if they tried.
This is the biggest issue I have with the “hurr durr you’re an election denier” crowd. Just the appearance of impropriety leaves a stink around the entire system. It’s basic fucking ethics.
There's no stink. You are just dumb as fuck.
Your nose must be stuffed then. Try an antihistamine.
I don’t remember Quimby being such a hostile, incel piece of shit.
Trump really did break a lot of people.
Don't forget the AZ election officials who started an anti-MAGA PAC. Not making this up.
The fact that you’re not allowed to even ask questions is a tell in itself.
Oh, Dems can question elections. Just not their opponents. That's the tell.
You’re always allowed to ask questions. But when the answer comes back and it isn’t what you want to hear, that’s the inflection point.
Are you going to accept that you are wrong or will you continue to insist that the conspiracy just goes deeper than the investigation went?
One is rational. One is not. Believing that the only two possible results are your side winning or the other side cheating is irrational and overtly biased.
Here’s how it works;
1. Vote totals will always change as ballots are counted.
2. There are areas and types of ballots that trend towards one candidate or the other.
3. These trends are known and documented from previous elections.
4. Where the ballots came from and what type of voting they used are both known qualities for each ballot.
Are we still on the same page? Let’s continue.
5. Which ballots are still uncounted (both area and type), and what the trend of those types of ballots is, are both known quantities.
For an example, see the statements by Adam Lexalt about the uncounted ballots in his race (https://www.conservativenewsdaily.net/breaking-news/laxalts-lead-in-nevada-senate-race-under-900-votes-after-latest-update/). Dem margins were hugher than his campaign had predicted, but he accurately assessed the result because his campaign knew what was still out there and what the trend was.
6. When the uncounted votes end up following the trends seen in the past as well as in this specific election, it is not suspicious. It isn’t even unusual.
While the specific count isn’t knowable, the general result becomes more and more clear as the count goes on. Because the trend has been observed in the thousands of ballots that have already been counted.
7. There is nothing suspicious about this election.
If you don’t accept that step-by-step analysis, tell me where I am wrong.
You are a brave person coming here with logic.
Logic, sure. This coming from a group of people who voted for a man who is mentally retarded as the result of a stroke in PA. Don’t you ever throw the word logic around here you fucking dim witted gunt.
I didn’t vote for Biden or Fetterman, asshole.
The fuck you didn't vote for them you cocksucker. At least tell the fucking truth as white knight for your team. You stupid fucking lefties follow the same MO with your boring posts. You guys went to the ChemJeff School of Hating Trump For Kids That Can't Read Good And Want To Do Other Things Good Too.
You guys went to the ChemJeff School of Hating Trump For Kids That Can’t Read Good And Want To Do Other Things Good Too."
That was a good one. Man, you really told me. Eat a dick, fuckface.
Thanks retard. I almost went with a Bros reference there seeing how you much you love pounding cocks, Trump and all. We could go back to your boy Fetterman though. Say, who do you think is smarter, Joe Biden or that freaky growth on fetterman’s mongoloid neck?
I live in Delaware. We didn't have a Senate election this year.
I'm not sure what your flawed assumptions about my voting have to do with the logic of vote counting. But since a non-sequitor is usually used by someone with no rebuttal, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you are just frustrated by reasonable analysis and lashing out aimlessly.
These trends are known and documented from previous elections.
You mean like the 19 bellwether districts that have been right for decades, yet Bai-dung only took one of them?
Or Ohio, Iowa and Florida, which have gone with the winner for just as long, but Bai-dung didn't get any of them?
The way elections work, people cast their votes, then they are counted.
There's no "appearance of impropriety" involved. It's nothing even unusual.
The biggest election fraud in the US in recent years was by Republicans in North Carolina.
These election deniers don't care about that.
Which means that their concern isn't election security.
It's that they're in denial about losing and are a bunch of fascists working for Russia.
It's really that simple.
It's gonna be great when this results in you being domed
hahahaha.... you twits are so fucking stupid. she didn't suddenly pull ahead. the one who was inching up and hoping for a come from behind perfect margin was Lake. things were literally the exact opposite of what you just said, except that Lake did not gain by enough as the ballots were counted. (and you just admitted to saying the exact opposite of reality twice.)
The inching up didn't happen until a couple of days after the polls closed. Are you just fucking obtuse and retarded or something?
how fucking stupid are you? i never said a goddamn thing about when the inching happened, my point was that the inching was happening in the exact opposite direction of what the other dumb fuck was saying. hobbs was the one who started with a huge lead, and lake was the one gaining as more ballots were counted.
the narrative you guys are struggling to make does not match reality at all. it was actually going in the exact opposite direction.
These people aren't serious. They are partisan hacks who suck the tiny cock of their Dear Leader. Ask for a shred of evidence, you get zero. At one point, libertarians used to post here. But the r/conspiracy crowd is so utterly fucking stupid and annoying that they have mostly stopped. These big government Trump cultists are completely fine with nationalist economic policy, tariffs, police abuse, etc. Like I said, these are not serious human beings.
How nice, two Shrike socks for the price of one.
Stop samefagging your own posts, Shrike, and for fuck's sake pick a sockpuppet and stick with it.
i think you are shrike, just trying to deflect from your shame.
Everyone they disagree with is a "Shrike".
r/conspiracy misses you
Reddit jokes? Ok boomer.
OK Boomer jokes! Ok person who lacks an actual sense of humor.
I notice you spent exactly zero words on the conflict of interest with Hobbs running the election she was running in or how mysteriously as ballot counting takes longer the likelihood of the Democrat winning increases after they reject any and all election security measures…odd that if you actually believe in honest elections. But given you are leftist I don't expect different from these propaganda tactics. Yes, establishment Republicans feeding at the trough side with establishment Democrats for their share of a country they are actively looting and destroying, but that seems to be a feature for you.
A local political reporter, formerly of the Chicago Tribune, now independent, terms it "The Combine". Democrats who rule the roost with Republican sycophants doing their bidding.
"mysteriously as ballot counting takes longer the likelihood of the Democrat winning increases after they reject any and all election security measures"
There were so many things that seemed to all go in favor of the D's, but this overarching theme is the one that keeps getting repeated. It seems that every time there is what looks suspicious, and for *some* reason ballots take a week to count, the D's just happen to get just enough for the win.
And these abnormalities dont ever seem to happen in deep red or blue states, but in states where the election is likely to come down to <1% of the vote. Arizona. Pennsylvania. Georgia. Nevada. Not: NY, TX, CA, WY. And every time the dust settles, the D in the election gets just enough to win.
Ballot security is vote suppression. Also, Republicans never win in races where the counting takes extra long. Arizona even admitted they had a day-of election dump of ~180,000 ballots without any chain of custody of them. It's actually what the officials said on the news.
But Reason, that horribly mistrusts the government, tells us that talking about election fraud is a conspiracy theory. Can't we at least pose a few questions? Where's the verification?
Who's stopping you from asking questions?
Arizona’s Maricopa Co usually gets 180k ballots dropped off on election day. This election they had closer to 300k. Now why would that be?
Could it be that people like the GOP’er running for Governor keep telling everybody mail in ballots are not secure? Could it be the armed men in fatigues patrolling ballot drop boxes prior to election day and the heavy news coverage of that discouraging people from dropping off ballots early?
Election denialism has this catch-22 built in. If people take the message to heart; then their vote doesn’t matter because the election is staged or fake and their vote won’t count or will be counted as a vote for the person they didn’t vote for. We saw that in Georgia runoff last election…Trump’s constant refrain of GA voter fraud turned off voters from bothering to vote in the runoff because why should they? ITS ALL RIGGED ANYWAY. Right??
This particular election result is very probably chicken’s coming home to roost. Mail in ballots favored dems by more than a small margin. So the more mail in ballots in a particular election it should follow that Dems will do better in tight contests where the last things to be counted are mail in votes (or mail ballots dropped off on election day). If those votes skew 3 to 1 dem and there are 300k of them… and the GOP candidate is winning by say 100k after same day voting is counted…. what is the probable result? What does the math say is going to happen? Yes it takes longer to open up all the ballots and count them. But the result is baked into the numbers.
>> It seems that every time
dude it's not even "it seems that"
Happened in Oregon this year.
just so you dumb fucks understand.... Hobbs has nothing to do with the ballot counting. that is all done by the county elections departments. the secretary of state certifies the final results, and communicates with county offices for who need to be on the ballot (no legislative district that i know of lies entirely in any county) but all of the election administration and counting is done by the counties.
But they do understand, they just don't care. They are sent here to pimp for their big daddy and nothing more. Mostly, they are scum who call cheating anytime they lose. Because they are giant man babies and that's what children who lose do.
Is it Shrike BOGO sock sale day today or something?
You two have zero idea how arizona elections are run.
She doesn't count. She implement at works with local recorder on the processes. The top 2 in the Maricopa office had their own political pac. Against the candidates losing these close votes.
"Hobbs has nothing to do with the ballot counting."
But wasn't she in charge of running the election, or some aspect of it? A general doesn't actually fight in wars. Someone who certifies the final result should be ringing alarm bells over the fiasco that unfolded in Maricopa. Far as I can tell, she did nothing.
You don't have to believe in election fraud to raise questions about irregularities and vulnerabilities. How does 20% of tabulation machine go haywire in (apparently) mostly GOP counties? People were saying that they waited 3 hours in line. They say it was some printer issue, but that only affected certain machines?
I don't believe in systemic election fraud by the government, which is logistically implausible. But individuals do get arrested for attempted fraud. My parents have been getting multiple ballots for the second straight election. And there were incidents of ballot harvesters harassing residents at LA Korean nursing homes. An alleged mail ballot fraud operative told the NY Post that such fraud is common, especially at nursing homes.
https://nypost.com/2020/08/29/political-insider-explains-voter-fraud-with-mail-in-ballots/
Do I believe that the registrar of voters is engage in election fraud? I don't. Do I have great faith in a bunch of government bureaucrats and part time workers who are hired to count ballots will do a great job with election security? Not particularly. In 2020 A temp worker threw away 7 military ballots in PA that went for Trumps. Dozens of completed ballots were found discarded in Santa Clara mountain. This could be just a exception, or possibly enough to swing elections. No one knows, and your government isn't competent enough to predict and stop it.
It's like saying Trump isn't responsible for what happens on the border.
"But wasn’t she in charge of running the election, or some aspect of it?"
as i said. her office certifies the final results, and is responsible for determining who is on the ballot in non local elections. the office also publishes guidelines. the actual running of the election is done by the election office in each county. her office has nothing to do with the handling of ballots, including the count, in any way.
"How does 20% of tabulation machine go haywire in (apparently) mostly GOP counties?"
that did not happen. there were some machine issues in one county that is one of the two least GOP counties in the state that only impacted 17K voters who's ballots were counted the next day. i don't know where this repeated 20% number keeps coming from, but it is complete BS. it was the kind of hiccup that happens somewhere in every election and only impacted a small number of voters in any way.
"In 2020 A temp worker threw away 7 military ballots in PA that went for Trumps."
the way mail in balloting works, the person determining whether a ballot is valid can't actually see the ballot. (you sign the affidavit that it is your ballot on a sealed envelope the ballot is in.) so.... if there were ballots improperly removed from the count it is impossible to know who they were for. I've never been an observer in PA, but i am highly skeptical of claims like this unless you can provide proof. the way it works, at least some part of this claim has to be a lie.
"This could be just a exception, or possibly enough to swing elections. No one knows, and your government isn’t competent enough to predict and stop it."
the problem with these kinds of statements is that they are deliberately vague and noncommittal. we all know that fraud is rare and those few individuals who try it every year are caught and way below the threshold required to impact the outcomes. the "we don't know" is just an attempt to throw doubt on something where there is no real doubt. if you are really concerned, i recommend you reach out to your local political party and ask to be an official observer in the next election. watch what actually happens. see the checks and verification yourself. the reason those rare people who try to cheat are caught is because the system is much much more robust than people think.
just so you dumb fucks understand…. Hobbs has nothing to do with the ballot counting.
So she could have recused herself and nothing would have changed then. She would have been able to pre-empt all this AND look like the better person.
But she didn't.
Huh.
The same situation happened with Brian Kemp in Georgia. He didn't cheat, either.
Do you want a law banning any Secretary of State from running for office, including running for re-election, while they are Secretary of State? So only one term for every Secretary of State, with a required cycle off?
Much like the "election fraud" nonsense, this is partisan "just asking questions" whining. There is nothing to support such an accusation except for the fact that the Secretary of State is running for office while being Secretary of State.
The same situation happened with Brian Kemp in Georgia. He didn’t cheat, either.
And he proved it. Repeatedly. With full transparency.
Clock's ticking.....
Well, Fiona, if you have the following, the election looks and smells fishy, regardless of whether it was fishy.
1. No debates between Lake and Hobbs because Hobbs did not want to debate Lake.
2. Approximately 20% of the voting machines mysteriously breakdown, with the vast majority of those breakdowns in Republican areas of Maricopa County.
3. A very extended count after the polls closed. We had no idea who the winer was until late yesterday.
4. Observers were sent away from the count unless they had a “press pass”.
5. It’s very interesting how the race for Treasurer had the Republican winning by a decent margin.
6. The person running the election and the count is the very same person running for Governor as a Democrat, Hobbs.
The appearance is not a good one, and should raise questions.
see above. Hobbs is not involved in the count in any way. the counting is all done by the counties.
Then answer the rest, Shrike. Nice sock by the way. Do you fap to CP with it too?
still don't know who the fuck Shrike is, but it has been an easy way to identify the really fucking stupid people on here who can't come up with anything more original.
ok, here you go.
1. really stupid move on Hobbs' part.... not sure how anyone thinks that has anything to do with the election itself.
2. gross gross exaggeration. the voting machine issues affected a grand total of 17k votes. this is both a relatively small number of votes, and those ballots were still ultimately counted.
3. this is a result of the extremely stringent verification process for the early ballots. do you want fast or do you want accurate? the vote count always takes this long.... always. it is just that nobody notices unless the races are too close to call. usually, the AP calls it, but they are still counting for another week.
4. observers are always allowed, and are appointed by the political parties or candidate committees. they don't let any random person off the street into the voting centers..... and if you are truly concerned with election security, they shouldn't.
5. kind of the point of the article you didn't read before posting your nonsense..... people did not just vote against rebublicans, it was that MAGA subset that was rejected.
6. the point you are hoping to deflect away from because you are so wrong.
nothing you put up here is evidence of anything or reason to suspect anything. what you have here is a huge lack of understanding of how things work trying to craft a narrative that is incompatible with reality.
"still don’t know who the fuck Shrike is"
Yeah, you're not tricking anyone.
look, another dumb fuck who thinks there is only one person on the internet who thinks they are fucking stupid.
Don't worry. Apparently I am Shrike, too. I don't know who he is, either, but I wear it as a badge of honor.
Anyone who doesn't white knight day in and day out for Trump and constantly whines about Reason is Shrike, or a pedo. These guys have been at it since Trump flopped his cock on the table. Sad.
Looks like I wasn't far off. Not sure if you guys are that predictable or I just have minor ESP.
more like you are an idiot who can't read.
Like many of the left leaning people on this site, it appears you don't understand that other people can read the entirety of the comment section and are not restricted to just reading individual replies.
and on reading that, they will see that your partisan hack nonsense is not even remotely similar to what i said.... so much so that you have to ignore me saying hobbs skipping the debate was dumb, so you can label me as "left leaning."
Consider this.

Hispanics, of course, are a major Democratic constituency. I fail to see how avoiding debate would have helped Hobbs reverse this trend in her campaign.
Repeating your ignorance doesn't mean you are right. She works prior to the elections to establish rules and procedures. These effect voting day dumbfuck.
what i said is that she is not in any way involved in the COUNT....... dumb ass.
I’ll go ahead and field these questions on behalf of the democrats that like posting here.
1: She didn’t want to dignify her with a debate and give a platform to the racist, sexist republican.
2: Would you rather they vote with broken machines?
3: It takes time to count votes, no big deal.
4: They were probably intimidating them or something like that! Best to send them away and protect our democracy.
5: They hated that trumper Lake so much that they decided to not vote for her, but they were fine with voting for a republican in another position.
6: Was she counting them herself? No? Then don’t worry about it, chud.
>>It takes time to count votes, no big deal.
see this is the fuck you. no, it does not take time to count votes.
The primary problem woth the machine issue is for an hour some were told to go elsewhere, did they?, or told them to drop them in box 3 or make a provisional ballot. The chain of custody on the latter option was not fully transparent and there were initial questions as to how many ballots were added to box 3. In some areas the numbers were way under expectations for the size of the lines.
Hobbs stayed on the lead with key statistical outlier drops of votes. Most drops were 60/40 or less. Hobbs had a key near 80 drops that kept her just high enough as the red area votes came in. That's why there are so many questions once again. Statistical outliers that make no sense from patterns or areas the votes came in from.
>>After several days of ballot counting

Yes, "why did ballot counting this time take essentially the same amount of time it always has?"
What are the odds that every close race in which vote counts took the whole week broke in the Democrats' favor? Really lucky for them this happened.
If voters randomly chose in-person or mail-in ballots, remote. If GOP voters disproportionately vote in-person while Democratic voters disproportionately mail in theirs, then the odds switch to "almost certain".
"I'm going to win the election, and I will accept that result."

I expect to see more of this moving forward."
Yep. If the Democrat is refusing to debate, you’re about to lose an election.
Republicans will either develop a robust ballot-harvesting program or they’ll never walk into the White House again.
They'll never be able to develop it, because you KNOW that they'd be treated like 1/6 protestors.
The media had dozens of articles about the gop pulling away from the debate commission.
Republican strategist Barrett Marson told Arizona Republic columnist Laurie Roberts. "We are not a Trump state."
Barry Goldwater approves.
Goldwater would've kicked you from one end of the state to the other, pedo.
“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

I expect a full and thorough investigation by the FEC after which all involved parties will be held accounta----
Oh, Jesus, I couldn't even finish that. Let's just throw Dinesh D'souza in jail again and call it a day, right?
His crimes, if he committed any, were probably in how he acquired the money in the first place, not how he spent it.

If you have to compete now in a corrupted, unethical, structurally unsound system of harvesting, curing, finding the ballots rather than persuading people to go to the polls on merit you’ve already lost your system
I hate to say it, but every little step like this, using corrupted, unethical, and structurally unsound voting systems that rely on harvesting, curing, and finding ballots, is one that keeps ticking down to civil strife of some kind. The Democrats are playing with fire here, and it's going to burn them very badly one day.
Why do you think they’re trying to purge conservatives out of the military?
While "civil strife of some kind", if it happens at all, will be tragic for the tens of innocent people killed by conservative terrorists, the cops will put them down like the mad dogs they are.
I can just imagine the look on their faces, right before the lights go out, as they realize that the police and the army were never going to join them in their homicidal hatred of American democracy.
Lol. You can’t be real.
That's what I keep thinking about the paleoconservative whiners and their authoritarian morality-police policies. But after a year or so here, I have to accept that people really are that clueless about what "liberty" and "libertarian" mean.
What libertarian invokes democracy? Your Liberty bonafides are suss.
You think libertarianism and democracy are mutually exclusive? Wow. Just wow.
It’s not Trump. It’s not Republican messaging. It’s not low-quality candidates. It’s not abortion.
It’s fraud via mass mail-in/drop-box voting. It’s as simple as that. And Republicans will never win another election unless it’s stopped.
Ha ha ha hilarious.
You actually believe that.
I'm not shocked you don't. The system is opaque for a reason, just like your dark web is opaque so no one finds out who's spreading the CP.
Are you now saying the alleged CP links were to a ".onion" website?
Republicans had armed watchers at the ballot drop boxes. They filmed people dropping off ballots and yet they complain it was unfair.
Republicans will start winning again when they invest in policies rather than cult personalities.
75% of the people think the nation is headed in the wrong direction under Dem rule. Biden's favorability is at 39% but those policies gave him the best midterm in decades? C'mon man.
Do you think all those 75% think the Republicans could do better? I would guess that at least half wanted Biden to do more than he did and weren't going to vote republican anyway.
You have to remember that right/wrong way poles never actually tell you what people think is the right way.
people who honestly think that have never made any effort to learn if it is true, have never investigated the election process, and have no idea just how much data the republican party has access to to prove it if it were true.
What the Democrats always say when it becomes evident that Americans don't want whatever they're pushing: "We have a messaging problem."
Re: abortion, messaging has been a problem for the GOP, but sabateurs such as Lindsey Graham introducing unpassable federal legislation and idiot state legislators pushing total or near-total bans have made it much more difficult for Republicans. Re: fealty to Donald Trump and making into a campaign centerpiece his ego-driven claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him by voter fraud, the problem is Trump, Trumpism, and poor quality MAGA candidates.
The abortion position of Rs is the one they have fostered since Roe (and ramped up since Reagan). Because it is so unreasonable, from a liberty perspective, they had to insist that a fetus was alive from the moment of conception. That has consequences. You can't just turn off fanaticism like a faucet when you need people to be more moderate.
For 50 years Rs have screamed about killing babies, given cover for terrorists who murder abortion doctors and burn clinics, and demonized anyone who supported individual choice. Once Dobbs gave the government the power to coerce behavior why are you surprised that anti-abortionists jumped all over the government-force opportunity? It isn't a messaging problem, it's a policy problem. Or, more accurately, an extremism problem. Because for 50 years Rs have rewarded extremists.
The reason you have "idiot state legislators pushing total or near-total bans" is because that is what the party has been pushing for decades.
And SCOTUS has kicked the can on for decades. Until now for some reason….wonder if they’re still lookin real hard for who leaked the decision?
Yeah, abortion was rated at something like 4th on the list of priorities by most voters. It definitely ain't the abortion.
Depends on the state, methinks. Some exit polls had voters in the upper 20 percentiles coming out specifically for it. That’s more than enough.
It never has been. It never will be. It's been proven over and over that your "massive voter fraud" fantasy is insane.
Your political beliefs are just unconvincing to voters. Either refuse to change and keep losing when you should win or listen to the voters and stop with the culture war nonsense.
Kari Lake, 11/4/22: “We don’t have any McCain Republicans in here, do we? Alright, get the hell out. . . . Boy, Arizona has delivered some losers, haven’t they?”
Kari Lake, 11/14/22: Projected as the loser of the Arizona gubernatorial contest.
https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/mccain-republicans-vote-too/
Ha HA HA! Oh, shit. Because slamming McCain in Arizona Trump style WINS!
We're tired of all this winning Donnie!
You're gloating far too much.
He likes McCain. Not even Matt Welch likes McCain.
Was McCain also a pedophile? That would explain a lot.
But it was her turn!
You know that if an election happened like this anywhere else in the world, with over 100,000 ballots turning up at the last second and vote-counting that lasted over a week, we'd call out that country for tyrannically tinkering with election results. But in this country, that's taboo, we can't actually talk about it.
just so you know.... those last minute ballots actually trended towards the republicans. so the narrative you are trying to paint does not jive well with reality.
I know it’s hard to understand for partisan shills, but the Democrats winning is secondary to it looking like there is shenanigans. Again. And in the same places as last time.
I don't even know if that's real or if that's just a talking point. It just sounds like something they can claim, never cite, and it's supposed to defuse the conversation. Like, I'm sure it's not 100% Democrat dump ballots, but I haven't seen a breakdown anywhere of how those 290k last second ballots broke.
Like, I'm aware that the first batch of votes had Hobbs hugely in the lead, but then the second vote count had the race tighten significantly. Lake was even in the lead at one point but then it seemed like Hobbs kept getting more votes. So that 290K vote dump, claiming it broke more towards Lake than Hobbs, I'd need to see someone actually prove that to me. Just claiming it and having no evidence isn't really convincing. Beyond that, it looks bad and reduces faith in the system.
the evidence is out there and was seen by anyone watching the daily drops. the first drop was the mail in ballots counted by the Friday before the election. the second drop was the vote tallies being returned from the precincts. then came the mail in ballots received between Friday and Tuesday, and the last couple drops were the ones dropped off at the polling places on election day.
first drop heavy for hobbs, second drop heavy for lake, and every drop after that was only slightly one way or the other. and no... lake was never in the lead, some pundits just thought she would pull it out based on the assumption that the election day drop offs would go heavy for her. that ended up not being the case.
Fuck off. You are one of the biggest partisans here. Daddy Trump is a helluva drug for incel shitbags.
I’m sorry someone hurt you. Go with Christ brah.
Religion is for people who believe things without any evidence. You know, like you with everything you post.
Hahahaha, you got me with that super sick burn.
Fuckin A right
Hobbs lead grew from 6k to 20k on just a handful of drops you retarded shit. Thats why people are questioning things.
My fucking god are you stupid.
Cite?
You know how to demonstrate that? Make an argument, use some evidence. Provide information instead of accusations.
Like all the evidence these cultist liars provide. Fuck them. I am stooping to their level. They decided to make every single article a place to insult and attack.
Not as much as they should have.
I think early voting is great, and there should be some everywhere. Doesn't have to be for weeks, just one week leading up to the election. We do 24 hour calls where I work, and ive had to do schedule jiu jitsu or just not vote in the past due to lack of early voting. Also in that same state, in the 2016 election I stood in line for 5 hours waiting to vote. That kind of nonsense should not have to happen. And having more than 1 day to vote spreads out that burden and allows people that have demanding schedules to vote.
The mail in shit has to go. If you want to vote, you should show up on a day polls are open, present valid ID, be registered, and you vote. Otherwise, you should have a damn good reason to vote absentee (military, out of country, significant physical disability). The D's used COVID to opportunistically make this the norm. So now we have piles of ballots that take forever to count/verify, introducing multiple points of failure and making the counts take way too long. What other advanced country takes more than a week to get results?
I would say you make the perfect case for mail in voting. People are busy with jobs and raising children. Why maintain a voting system that was good hundred years ago, but outdated today. There is no evidence that mail in voting is any less secure that in-person voting. People have used the system and are perfectly happy with it. The only complaints are from losers. Did Ron DeSantis complain or JD Vance? Do you think the Republican pick-ups in the House are illegitimate?
"Why maintain a voting system that was good hundred years ago, but outdated today"
Because it seems that with this new emphasis on mail-in voting, we cant get election results in any reasonable amount of time, and there are far too many points of failure. A week of voting leading up to election day, with required voter ID, is about 1000x more secure than the mail-in fiasco we are witnessing. I never have to worry about my ballot getting lost, misplaced, someone questioning the signature (or anything else on the ballot) or it not being scored correctly. I get a report of everyone I voted for, confirmed, and counted without the 10 points of failure that mail-in voting introduces.
Married people went gop dummy.
The problem is ballot harvesting and no validity of mail in ballots.
Prove ballot harvesting. Go ahead
So, it's not that the system is illegitimate, it's just that democrats are really that fucking dumb?
The Dems sure have been pretty fucking stupid in my lifetime. But they found their golden goose in Trump and they are riding him hard to victories, so I guess they have that figured out at least.
And again, prove ballot harvesting. The system has issues, but I have never seen any evidence of this happening outside of that 66 yr old woman they wanted to put in jail for dropping off 4 ballots of her family.
Lots of Republicans vote by mail also, probably the married ones.
And lots of all of them would vote in person if that was the primary option. (Outside of a vigorously regulated absentee ballot).
I voted early this time. Had to drive downtown to the county building but other than that it was fine. Exactly like voting in person on election day but a lot less crowded. They had voting till 7 PM and Saturday hours. Pretty much anybody could squeeze in the time and if not vote absentee. There is no good reason for mass mail in voting.
There is also no good reason to not to have mail in voting. People have tried it and for some it works, in the same way that in-person early voting works for you, or that same day voting works for others.
To me we have a lot bigger problems than how people vote. I like to see more competitive races for all offices. I have been taught all my life that competition yield better results and yet we are moving from that in many elections.
There is probably a good way to do main in voting. But just expanding the existing absentee ballot policies to anyone who wants one (or in some cases just sending ballots to every voter) is not it. There is at least the appearance of significant opportunities for fraud. Appearances matter because if people don't have some faith in the process, it's not going to be good. It doesn't fucking matter if the people doubting the election are wrong when they are like 30% of the electorate. You need to convince those people that things are on the up and up, not dismiss them as a bunch of democracy hating idiots. That is what someone who just stole an election would do.
Problem here is that there is no way to convince the 30% you mentioned. Their candidate lost so something is wrong.
Providing answers rather than insulting them would be a good start.
Or, given the overwhelming absence of evidence of fraud, political parties could stop sowing doubt about the elections they lose?
If a line has to be drawn (and before voting-by-app becomes a thing...) I would draw it at mail-in ballots being automatically sent to every registered voter. That seems like a recipe for chaos (regardless of how it has actually played out so far).
But the burden of proving there is a actually problem to be solved must lie with those making the claim.
I have no problem with early voting. I have a problem with unidentified early voting. Make drop off locations have an election official that checks an ID.
I'd prefer late voting. Polls open for a week, starting on the traditional election day (or maybe the Sunday before).
Then open the fucking polls all weekend. Or make it a national holiday.
Another small factor in the 2022 midterms may have been COVID deaths. Several recent studies have shown that prior to COVID mediation methods Democrat areas and Republican areas had similar infection and death rates. That changed when the vaccines and other mediation methods were available. Republican areas now have higher death rates. So Republican skepticism of vaccines may have caused more deaths and cost theparty's candidates votes.

Half of them could kill themselves off and these cult members would still cry fraud. Because they are not intelligent people.
Such righteous anger! You must have a raging flaccid boner right now you shitface.
Look here, you cuntfaced incel scumbag, my anger isn't righteous, I just loathe white-trash and always have.
Parody.
I don’t believe any of these people are real. They can’t be. There must be a Bolshevik robot factory somewhere, cranking them out.
I notice you didn't say "Russian"...
Does this study go past 2020? It doesn't seem very well done.
Results: When compared with Republican counties, COVID-19 death rates in Democratic counties were significantly higher (IRRs ranged from 2.0 to 18.3, P < 0.001) in Time 1-Time 5, but in Time 9-Time10, were significantly lower (IRRs ranged from 0.43 to 0.69, P < 0.001).
Conclusion: The reversed trend in COVID-19 death rates between Democratic and Republican counties was influenced by the political polarized response to the pandemic. - So the first large numbers of death were attributed to Dems by what if later was repubs with vax hesitancy
The findings support the necessity of evidence-based public health leadership and management in maneuvering the USA out of the current COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for future public health crises. --- Again a small time frame and just 2020 seems bold to post this in 2022 as study without 2021 or parts of 2022
If you know anything about paper a year behind is often considered quick.
The basic idea is that vaccine hesitancy leads to more deaths and to less voters. I am not suggesting it as the only reason but pointing out if a couple thousand of your voters die you need to find more. Every statics says that Republican voters are older. That means every static say that Republican voters are at more risk if they contract COVID.
Welcome to the COVID medical literature, aka the death of public health as a science.
Oregon hasn't elected a Republican for Governor since 1982.
That's why the Democrat winning the seat is so historic.
Support for Trump cost Lake the election? Bullshit. We all know it was her opposition to open borders. American voters overwhelmingly support taking in as many immigrants as possible. Except for those icky Cubans and Venezuelans, they're far too anti-socialist for our taste. Fucking retards living in the past instead of getting with the program and welcoming our bright new future. Well, maybe not exactly bright new future what with the lack of electricity leading to burning cattle dung for fuel and light, but you know what I mean - for those who manage not to freeze to death or die of starvation or getting eaten by wolves it will be a bright new future.
OBL you're not.
'"Arizonans know BS when they see it," Lake tweeted after media outlets and election observers began to call the race for Hobbs.'
Indeed. That's why they voted against you.
Then you won't object to an audit and investigation into how this election was mishandled?
You know who will object? AZ Democrats.
It'll turn out the same way it did the last time. When your theory is so deeply flawed, the results will remain the same.
Being really, really, really certain that you're right tends to fail in the face of actual data and evidence.
Investigation? You've already reached a conclusion: "how this election was mishandled".
But, of course, there are available processes to challenge elections. Have these things been done? If not, why not?
If the law allows for "audits", then there will be audits. Hopefully, the Cyber Idiots won't be available...
The Libertarian Case for Not Questioning Partisan Bureaucracies

Holy Space Balls! Could Reason roll out a few more articles about Space? Maybe, just maybe, sending one of the pretend journalist to actually investigate on the ground in AZ might be worthwhile.
Haha, I'm kidding. Reason Editors don't question the progressive narrative until it's allowed by their DNC overlords.
There was a red tsunami in Florida where they have tight voting laws imagine that.
They also allow all voters to vote by mail.
And yet it’s attacked fr being a law that “limits voting” according to most liberal news holes.
Vote by mail is attacked as limiting voting? What the hell are you talking about?
Does anyone at Reason feel the need to revise and extend it's remarks about "Trump Derangement Syndrome" after 1/6? Seems like concerns about Trump's embrace of political violence and authoritarianism were well-founded. Or should we just expect unReasonable denial?
Reap what you sow, cancer.

What did Reason say about "TDS"?
It's kind of obvious what it really refers to.
Leftists don't believe any of the bullshit they say here.
They know they're cheating, and they know they need to cheat to win.
They are malicious, lying, totalitarian clumps of cancer.
The time for civility has long passed.
I agree, but that doesn't excuse the Alt-Right for doing the same thing.
