Brickbat: You'll Be Stone Dead in a Moment

The city of Delray Beach, Florida, has fired firefighter Brandon Hagans for reporting an elderly man was dead when he actually wasn't and then lying about his actions. A report found Hagans looked at the man's body for six seconds from a doorway during a routine call before calling the scene in as a death. Workers who came to the home over an hour later to remove the body found the man was still alive. The local firefighter's union is fighting the dismissal, calling it unjust.

Well, if it was he was looking at Joe Biden I'd understand the mistake.
I am making 80 US dollars per hr. to complete some internet services from home. I did not ever think it would even be achievable , however my confidant mate got $13k only in four weeks, easily doing this best assignment and also she convinced me to avail.

After leaving my previous job 12 months ago, i've had some good luck to learn about this website which was a life-saver for me.They offer jobs for which people can work online from their house. My latest paycheck after working for them for 4 months was for $4500.Amazing thing about is that the only thing required is simple typing skills and access to internet.

Sounds like a Monty Python and the Holy Grail scene.
More like the dead parrot skit.
Nah, in the dead parrot sketch the parrot was actually dead. Although in this case it doesn't sound like the old man was yelling "I feel happy!" so it's not 100% like the Holy Grail scene either.
Maybe this is more like the Miracle Max scene from The Princess Bride. E.g., "He was only mostly dead, which is still partially alive. All dead, there's only one thing you can do..."
I'm not dead yet! I feel happy!
This one - Bring Out Your Dead!
Surely there's a freedom of religion exemption in determining whether someone is alive or dead.
The firefighter could have SWORN that he HAD heard the old geezer saying that he self-IDed as “DEAD”!
Who are we to question your self-ID?!?!?!?
(After I am dead, my wife plans to say that my corpse self-IDs as being "alive", so that I can still vote and collect social security.)
"The local firefighter's union is fighting the dismissal, calling it unjust."
And there you have it.

Look, you can't expect one of our Brave Heroes to actually check the body for vital signs. I mean, what if the old man was dead? Then he would have had to touch a corpse! Eww!!!!!!11!!!!!
For all I know, I did touch a corpse a couple of weeks ago when I tried to give CPR and called help for a neighbor (I haven't heard anything certain about the status of the man yet. I'll have to ask the landlord.) and I couldn't be a firefighter or First Responder for medical reasons.
While I'm still weirded out about it, I don't have a Union to make a trauma claim for me. I sure hope First Responders are made of stronger stuff than you imply.
I can’t know if this is correct or not without knowing the color of everyone’s skin.
He's not dead, he's pining!
Hi. Good Night everybody.
Ooooh! I see now!
Well, I guess "C'Mon, Man!" and "Fuck Joe Biden!" does need a little switch-up. 🙂

I side with the union. I mean, the firefighter was only there to burn banned books, right?
If he was inside the building, can't he be considered dead and alive at the same time?
Schroedinger's Geezer?
Like Leonard Cohen?

Uh, so if the firefighter looking at *what he thought was* a body after 6 seconds was incompetence, what's reporting that he "looked at the man's body" 8 days after "the man" was determined to be alive?
[Stares at body, checks pulse of journalistic integrity.]
“Journalistic integrity.”
Waxing oxymoronic, aren’t we?
Unions exist to defend their dues payers, so they will continue to pay. It has nothing to do with truth, justice, or morality. It's political.
