Brickbat: This Will Cure What Ails You

Veterans Affairs Canada confirmed that an employee "inappropriately" brought up medically assisted suicide when a veteran called seeking help for post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. The veteran, who wasn't identified by media, didn't ask about medically assisted suicide and was disturbed by the suggestion. In a statement, Veterans Affairs Canada said "appropriate administrative action will be taken," but it declined to say what that action might involve. It also refused to answer questions about whether employees have suggested medically assisted suicide to other veterans who have sought help.

Medically assisted suicide is a natural outcome of national healthcare. Don't you have a patriotic duty not to be a burden on society? Isn't it selfish and greedy to think only of yourself? C'mon, man! If you don't want to do it, waiting times and neglect and ineffective treatment can help urge you along the correct path.
Speaking of waiting times, it would be interesting trivia to see waiting times for euthanasia compares to other common medical procedures.
"Other" common medical procedures? Just how common do you think euthanasia is?
Common enough to be recommended as a treatment for PTSD.
I am creating eighty North American nation greenbacks per-hr. to finish some web services from home. I actually have not ever thought adore it would even realisable but (dbt-20) my friend mate got $27k solely in four weeks simply doing this best assignment and conjointly she convinced Maine to avail. Or compare the waiting times to how long we keep people on death row.
Another brilliant cost saving measure. Keep them waiting long enough, and maybe they'll get fed up and kill themselves without assistance.
With all the Left's raling against the inhumanity of corporations, you might think they would understand that governments are a kind of corporate institution. The government does not, and indeed cannot, love your. You are a statistic to the bureaucratic stste.
Did the allegedly shocked veteran come to his senses, and not commit suicide?
Technique of suggesting assisted suicide was unorthodox, yet perhaps effective.
...and before you off yourself, let me say thank you for your service.
What do you get when the government healthcare bureaucracy gets an exciting new way to save on budgets?
"Euthanasia" becomes the sixth highest cause of death in Canada. My parents have just given me notarized letters saying that if they are incapacitated in no way do they consent to euthanasia.
It probably won't do much but there's plenty of horror stories going around of hospitals ignoring the families wishes and plowing ahead, so at least I'll have something to wave and hopefully scare the ghouls off.
The letters mean nothing. Living wills have no force of law; they’re a guide to you in carrying out wishes.
You must have written healthcare proxy forms signed and witnessed while they’re in good health, designating you to make their decisions.
Speaking of ghouls, Marxist Mammary-Bahn-Fuhrer, here's looking at YOU, self-righteous hypocritical twit-twat!
Mammary-Necrophilia-Fuhrer, Supreme Demonic Director of Decay, Destruction, and Death, will now SPEAK! HARKKK silently and RESPECTFULLY, all ye lowly heathens, as She Directs Death, and announces WHICH few of us MIGHT deserve to live, and WHO all deserves to DIE-DIE-DIE!!!

“You should really join ᛋᛋqrlsy, ᛋᛋhrike. You two goosestepping fascists offing yourselves would definitely be a mitzvah.”
-Quote MammaryBahnFuhrer the "Expert Christian Theologian"
So Mammary-Necrophilia-Fuhrer, Supreme Demonic Director of Decay, Destruction, and Death... WHEN are You going to STOP stealing the IDs of Your victims, and then posting kiddie porn in THEIR names, and then blaming THEM?
Inquiring minds want to KNOW, dammit!
Muted
Do you mute your conscience ass well, asshole who sympathizes with suicide-pushers?
This happens all the time in Russia, usually by ' jumping ' out a window.
We have that too, though it usually involves bed sheets here.
In case you missed it

Ok reason.... time to step up.
You wrote miles of column inches telling us that we were descending into a dictatorship when Trump said CNN was "fake news" (in response to CNN pushing lies about Trump. You know, things that were fake. In the news)
So now Biden has made a prime time speech about the gravest danger to the United States of America.
It is..... people who disagree with progressive politics.
And he isn't using rhetorical attacks to verbally call out political enemies for false attacks. He is actually officially using the power of the state.
So where are libertarians? We apparently vehemently condemn politicians calling people who are lying about then liars. This is violent and a threat to free speech and democracy if they wield executive power. That is the standard you set.
Well?
There was a time when reason live-streamed presidential addresses and debunked their lies, called out their harmful policies and generally mocked the powerful.
Then, when the national press decided that covering the president was harmful, reason stopped doing that. So nobody did a real-time writeup. And nobody stayed up to cover this speech live and write it up for evening publication.
Since Reason is waiting to see how they are supposed to cover it, here is the lede from CNN.
Lies and violence?
Hmm.
Is anyone at Reason capable of seeing what is right in front of them?
I mean, we know they mean Jan 6 rhetorically.
But who has been using lies and violence against political opponents? Who is controlling the media? Who using local political power to encourage violence in the streets and acts of arson and looting? Who is using actual violent rhetoric... not the fake violence of "we need to stand up and fight this policy", but actual violent rhetoric of "make sure they know they are not welcome here, confront them in restaurants, confront them on the street, confront them in the grocery store".
Ok, you have 4 hours to get it together before the morning links. Let's see if you can find a libertarian voice at the flagship libertarian publication.
So... on the media criticism front...
The CNN article about the Biden presidential addresses (not a campaign event, an official white house event in Philadelphia paid for by US taxpayers) is mostly not about Biden or what he actually said... it is mostly about Trump and how terrible and dangerous he is. (He is trying to defy and intimidate the FBI!)
Here is the closer paragraph of the news, not opinion, article that is the top featured article at CNN.com
https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/02/politics/biden-trump-threat-to-democracy-analysis/index.html
This is the 'new and improved' CNN that's supposed to win back the mass's eyeballs too, right?
Brian Stelter was just too fat and slow. They want killers at CNN.
In relation to Biden's speech, the White House Press Secretar used DeSantis saying that Fauci should be "chucked across the Potomac" as an example of "violent right wing rhetoric". At the very least, the Left is now seeing technocrats as a class that needs special protection.
Ok, the results are in. Only ENB weighed in. Only in the links. And only to say that it was just another stump speech. Yawn. Nothing to see here.
You made a valiant attempt to sway reason employees, but their boss is a trust fund office that continues to issue paychecks without verifying work is occurring.
I wonder how much shorter the wait time is for your medically assisted suicide appointment.
Apparently, it takes some time to schedule the appointment to talk about scheduling the appointment for the quality of life saving treatment (the latter can be a year out). The euthanasia advisor appointment is right now, on the other hand.
I watched a 2022 documentary on this. It was titled "Solent Green"
In a company I once worked for, we joked that the major medical benefit was one coupon for a free visit to Dr Kevorkian. And the retirement plan was the same...
"Your L-pill is in the mail."
Six Pods! NO WAITING! Sign up now!
"Take two of these and call me in the...actually, if the pills work you won't be able to call me in the morning."
It is important to avoid ascribing the worst possible motives and the worst possible narratives to the actions of others.
So here is my best willd-assed guess: veterans affairs dude had someone on the other line asking about assisted suicide and he picked up the wrong line.
Moar money needed for training!
Picked a tough row to hoe advancing the argument that two veterans talking about suicide as better than one talking about it accidentally but, hey, to each his own.
Just a screw-up versus "Hey, maybe you should just end it"... Occams razor.
Not always accurate, but better than ascribing darker motives.
I watched a 2022 documentary on this. It was titled "Soylent Green"
Charlton Heston: Soylent Green is soy beans and lentils with some spinach for the color!!! You bastards, you blew it up!
I'm hungry, anybody else hungry? You? Are you hungry? I could really go for some soylent green. Anybody up for discussing some medically assisted suici... I mean, places to eat?
This is the problem with government (ei. taxpayer) funded healthcare. It then becomes in the public interest to kill people seeking treating. It's saves them money.
I'm not saying death panels, but... death panels.
Interesting that this gets thrown in a brickbat. This has been a topic with some controversy, with people reporting that families with very ill members in hospital have been 'nudged' towards assisted suicide by medical officials and staff.
As they should.
Many elderly now spend the end of their lives in a futile battle to avoid death, no matter how expensive and painful the medical care. They spend the last year of their lives miserable.
Not only are hospice and euthanasia less expensive alternatives to a painful, extended death in a hospital, but much kinder.
Unfortunately, too many families, too many insurance companies, and too many medical providers put up roadblocks to a peaceful end of life.
So many people, when asked, say they want to die at home. But the system can't have that; no money in it.
