Brickbat: Ticket to Ride

For Bob and Angie Shepherd, the news kept getting worse. First, Angie's car was stolen from their Alexandria, Virginia, home. Next, police in Prince Georgia's County, Maryland, told them it was used in a murder. And now, District of Columbia officials are demanding the Shepherds pay $400 in tickets accumulated by the people who stole the car, even after the Shepherds sent them documents showing the car had been stolen.

The bureaucrat gods need fed. They are deaf to your insignificant pleas. Into the volcano with you.
A light punishment for remaining in the hell hole of democrat ruled DC.
Move to Texas!
No doubt the crushing burden of caring for 4,000 immigrants to DC requires a careful search for money. That the money comes from non-voters is a special benefit.
Don't DC my Texas!
Agreed, stay out of Texas DC! It belongs to us! —California
ya no more outsiders for awhile. especially DC-ese
I always called it Prince George's County.
Sounds like you're transphobic. If George wants to be Georgia, who are you to deny their truth?
lol
They're the wrong color to get a break from D.C.

Demanded? Or else what? You're going to steal the car *again*?
Just another example of the socialist strategy to discourage private property rights by punishing owners through holding them responsible for property they no longer control. Compare with eviction moratoriums and rent control and EPA regulations. Owners are forced to let tenants live in their buildings for free, or can't build on their own land, but they're still on the hook for the property taxes and legal liability if someone gets hurt on their property.
Owners of private property: Why own and deal with the headaches when you can just join the mob demanding the government force others to take care of you?
Government bureaucrats and politicos: Why use taxes to provide services when you can pocket that money (or kick it back to political supporters) and force the idiots still clinging to the idea of taking personal responsibility for their lives by accumulating and improving private property to provide those services?
