In Roswell, Georgia, Centennial High School said in a statement that a substitute teacher caught on video in an expletive-filled classroom rant has been fired. The teacher, who wasn't named, told students that "When I was in high school, I was learning about Obama increasing drone strikes in my [expletive] country." One student said the teacher also compared Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler.

Well Yemen got a lot of drone strikes in the Obama years as did Afghanistan and Libya. Iraq got a lot during Bush. Drone strikes are low risk (no pilot can be shot down) and it is like a video game. Boom..you can take out a building..opps it wasn't the hideout of the ISIS bad guys but a school. Oh well..next time we will get them right?

Like Obama or not, the magazine with the banner "Free minds. Free Markets." should get the narrative clear on being fired for actual verbal assault rather than being fired for free speech. Especially, given it's abjectly terrible defense of grooming children in the classroom.

Apparently, the school principal doesn't respect the viewpoints of the profane substitute teacher. Apparently this substitute teacher is a young fellow, aged somewhere 23-30, is showing that allowing immigrants from countries we've bombed maybe isn't a good idea?

Most importantly, when will the school principal fire teachers pushing their socialist propaganda and who disparaged Trump in the classroom, rather than leaving their personal politics at home and sticking to education of the subject they are paid to teach? The double standard of the Democrats shows they don't respect the law, and eventually won't respect it when they come for you, that is if you oppose their political policies. If we don't fix this double standard about the rule of law, we'll have lost our freedom.

Grooming kids (except for cornrows) is not fine. Also, substitute teachers are not part of the union.

Even grooming cornrows is generally out of bounds. If the cornrows are unkempt, that's the parents' or social services' job, not the school's. The school is free to notice and notify people and, if they believe the child's life is in immediate danger, take action to prevent the immediate danger, otherwise, hands off.

Are you incapable of distinguishing between lice checks and delousing someone? Do I have to add "for public schools" too? Nobody's ever died of head lice. People with unkempt hair have had incidents with bunsen burners. The school can't delouse you, they can make you tie loose hair back and/or put it out if it catches fire. What grade are you in?

Hell, in 2016 I voted for Gary Johnson, and I was blamed by both sides for Trump not winning and Trump not achieving the popular vote. In an ongoing problem IMHO, Reason authors fail to point out the libertarian position, so I will.

Government school problems (such as profane teachers, teachers propagandizing/indoctrinating, discussing sex in first grade, not reporting rapes on campus to the police as for the recent rapist guy wearing a skirt) would be far less of a problem, and parents would be able to do something about these problems, if there weren't government schools forced upon us by government. Instead, free markets would provide choices to parents for their children's educations.

My oldest kids' reading textbooks in grade school had a gushing several pages about how great our historic first black President was and all the good he did for the poors... in the first half of his first term.

Of course reading, 1984, Animal Farm, and even things like Call of Duty, Wolfenstein, Escape From Tarkov, and even actual history have put the fairy tales of Chocolate Jesus in proper perspective but, either way, the overt gushing over Obama and his political policies/stances was there.

"... in the first half of his first term." That would be 24 months. Worse, it took only 8 months for him to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He had done nothing for peace yet, would continue a couple of minor wars all through his term, and expanded the use of assassination via drone strike.

OTOH, he was still far better qualified than previous recipients such as Yassir Arafat, even if not as well qualified as some 6 billion people who never held political power and never conducted any kind of war. These days, when I hear "Nobel Peace Prize", I mentally prefix it with "Ig".
