A Los Angeles Police Department bomb disposal squad ignored concerns repeatedly expressed by one technician that they were overloading a containment chamber inside a tractor-trailer with homemade fireworks, according to an inspector general's report. The chamber exploded in 2021 on the street in the middle of a Los Angeles neighborhood, injuring 27 people and causing more than $1 million in damage. The report found the chamber had been loaded beyond its safety rating and faulted a detective supervising the squad for inadequate supervision. The technicians and the detective may face discipline.

Technically he won't be facing criminal charges. He pled guilty to federal charges last August.

The homeowner, Arturo Ceja, had a mix of commercial and home made fireworks all of which he purchased in Nevada. The authorities believe he was re-selling the fireworks locally. Apparently the black market price of fireworks in LA is around 4 to f5 time higher than the going rate in Nevada.

They had already hauled away the commercial fireworks for off-site disposal, but they decided the homemade stuff was too dangerous to transport because it might go of in transit causing an explosion in a residential neighborhood.

So they decided to use a bomb containment unit to dispose of it on site. But then the overloaded the containment unit, causing an explosion in a residential neighborhood.

I wonder if the warning technician was female and the detective was male.

As a female I have had the same experience of urgently warning men about something of which I had superior knowledge, in a life-or-death situation, and having them respond as though... nothing. Like somehow I did not even exist.

Also when I say something smart, no acknowledgement, and then when another man quickly repeats to other men what I said almost verbatim, what a great idea!

It really does happen that way. I don't think they are even aware they are doing it.

This is why courts don't work. Courts no longer have a purpose. They used to exist to prevent vengeance. However, since Merkins are cowardly vermin subhumans who will snuff-film their own kid being beaten to death by a cop, courts know that they have no incentive to perform.
