Citing Debunked CDC Research, Virginia School Districts Vow To Defy Youngkin on Mask Mandates
The science isn't actually on school districts' side.

On Saturday, newly minted Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, declared an end to mask mandates in the state's public schools; parents may now decide whether their children should wear masks.
Youngkin's executive order has been met with furious opposition from public schools. Several districts—including Arlington and Alexandria City Public Schools, which both neighbor D.C.—vowed to openly defy the order, receiving encouragement from White House press secretary Jen Psaki. In response, the governor said he would pursue all legal options to compel schools to let parents decide the mask issue on an individual basis.
There is good reason to move away from district-wide mask mandates. In defense of continuing mandatory masking, education officials cited unpersuasive research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that ought to be rejected as the basis for an argument.
Neither Arlington nor Alexandria responded to my request for comment. When reached by The Daily Caller, Arlington Public Schools admitted that their policy of mandatory masking for everyone ages 2 and older came straight from the CDC. (Arlington's first instinct was apparently to refuse comment entirely; a communications staffer for the district told the reporter, perhaps inadvertently, "I recommend not responding to The Daily Caller. It won't get us anywhere.")
Similarly, Alexandria Superintendent Gregory Hutchins (whose own child attends private school) said the district will continue to defer to the CDC's finding that "masks, combined with multiple other ACPS mitigation measures, have been effective in helping to protect the collective health and safety of our students and staff and keep our schools open for in-person learning." Hutchins' letter to the community suggests that the mask requirement might get more stringent, rather than less: He said that he has received shipments of KN95 masks, and the alternative will be double-masking. Nearly two years into the pandemic, the public education bureaucracy's desire to compel all students to vigorously conceal their faces hasn't weakened—in fact, it's growing stronger.
But the CDC's research on schoolwide mask mandates is much less impressive than the agency seems to think. The Atlantic has highlighted numerous problems with its recommendations, which were based on a "profoundly misleading" study of Arizona schools.
It should be noted that other countries are far less militant about masking in schools. The World Health Organization does not advise masks for children ages 6 and under. The European Union recommends that students in K-8 schools be allowed to unmask.
"Scientists generally agree that, according to the research literature, wearing masks can help protect people from the coronavirus, but the precise extent of that protection, particularly in schools, remains unknown—and it might be very small," wrote The Atlantic's David Zweig. "What data do exist have been interpreted into guidance in many different ways."
In the face of the much, much more contagious omicron variant of COVID-19, the benefits from masking might be even smaller. Omicron has managed to evade mitigation efforts almost entirely; thankfully, the disease appears less virulent than previous strains, and vaccinated individuals should expect to have a mild bout with it. Healthy young people also have little to fear, rare exceptions aside.
None of that is to say there's no benefit from wearing a mask. But district officials' policy of deciding the matter on behalf of all students is difficult to justify. Indeed, throughout the pandemic, local politicians have often forced schools to be the most masked environments. The few times that D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has relaxed the city's mask mandate, she has kept it in place for schools. No one's faces are more concealed than young people's.
The best thing to do would be to empower families to claim whatever money is being allocated to public schools on behalf of their children and use it to fund an educational option that fits their individual needs. In the current, less-than-ideal world, public school officials who deny choice to families should at least concede that the science isn't actually on their side.

The left is NOT interested in science or children's welfare one bit. Defying the GOP governor is gives them very real physical pleasure and the ability to chatter at some party or other. It is political group think at its' worst. If their were a price to pay for their endangering children's mental and physical health like maybe fines or even prosecution for child endangerment I would bet 10 to 1 that they would shut their pie holes and find another way to virtue signal their ideological peers about how committed they are to their WOKE ideas.
These School Boards have become a real danger to the very children they are supposed to be advocating for. We lived pretty well without these administrative nightmares and political mini-dictators in the past maybe communities should consider disbanding and doing away with these elected dictators. Might be a good debate for most communities to have.

These prog fucks were all " you cant politicise the virus" but theyre 24/ 7 doing just that.
CDC and NIH research say masks dont work.
People have had enough of this bull shit.

The best thing to do is for parents who don't want their child suffocated or bullied to walk their unmasked kid to school, and when refused admittance, file child abuse charges against the school employee denying admittance. The new AG will certainly be receptive.
Defund the schools and tell them to start a GoFundMe page or sue the money out of Psaki.
It's beyond time to pull a Reagan and declare the union contract in abeyance, and start firing teachers, starting with the union representatives.
Outlaw public employee unions. Even FDR agreed with this.

Oh no, theyve been effective in stopping the carnage of teachers losing limbs in paper cutters and being blinded by photocopy machines.
Bleeding to death by paper cuts is down tremendously.

Just abolish all public employees. I think telling a certain group that they are not allowed to meet and associate together has constitutional issues. Firing them all is my preference.
Let them meet and associate all they want. Just prohibit governments from contracting with them.
That works.

Teachers unions haven't violated their contract. The air traffic controllers violated a provision forbidding strikes. Also, this is the Alexandria Public School management stating this, not the union.
The Virginia teachers' union hasn't - yet. The Chicago teachers' union pretty clearly did orchestrate an illegal strike.
False comparison. Fail
Fuck off asshole dave.
cant see your moronic comments sevo. piss off
The easiest way is for the Governor is to refuse to have automatic dues check off for Union dues. Many teachers just might opt out of paying and the cost and administrative problems of collecting individual weekly or monthly dues would cause the National Teachers Union to take notice. They are donating millions to candidates that a portion of teachers don't support. That should be illegal but since it puts money in Democrat coffers you can forget and disruption to that money train.
Janus already says that.
The dues for non-members will still be paid, as “contract fee.”
At least as a member, you can vote on the union leadership.
As a non-member, you get no vote AND you’ll still pay a “contract fee” for the collective bargaining agreement.
but the contract fee is only about 25% of the total dues.
and in most states when teachers have been given the option, membership and dues revenue fall substantially.
Progressives are motivated to prefer the appearances over any objective measure, so of course they want to keep masking. What is a more visible measure of compliance than the masks?
Or home school. If enough people do that, the schools would automatically be de-funded.
While the theory is that schools would be defunded if enough home schooling occurred, the reality is that the taxes collected for that purpose will occur in perpetuity. Add to that the fact that the teachers unions are some of the most reliable
kickbacksdonations to Democrat election coffers and you can see the schools will never be defunded. Also in the real world, many parents are not able to home school due to work or inability (because government sets the rules/standards that home schools must meet) and again schools will not close. Masking must become such a lodestone around politicians necks that they willingly abandon them. I believe that first step should be requiring politicians children to attend the public schools within their districts. You would think that staff within a school district would be required to educate their children within the public schools they work for as a demonstration of confidence in the curricula. If a soft drink company can fire an employee for consuming a competitor’s product a school should be able to require an employee to use its product. That, and if enough people home school, home schooling will be regulated out of existence, along with non-public options.
Did the CDC get that bunk "science" from Dr. Joe Rogan?
Chemjeff?
Maybe Fred Roggin.
Science is invalid if it appears on the Joe Rogan Experience.
Lying Jeffy’s Joe Rogan Experience:

2. He’s definitely an alt-right Trumpist so I can ignore or discredit Dr. Malone on his show. I’m even going to go full sarc on the topic and shit all over the thread about it.
3. (Weeks later). I’m just now hearing about Dr. Malone for the first time.
These days we don't use the scientific method (properly). Now we go from hypothesis straight to conclusion. Those other five steps are racist, so who needs em.
Whered you get your doctorate in critical theory?

The problem with Rogan isn’t science. It’s that he’s so retarded that he can’t tell when his guests lie to his face.
He’s won’t book opponents of a viewpoint or issue at the same time to debate it, because he is too dumb to comprehend the differences and ask illustrative questions.
So he has them on, one at a time, has a genial conversation about nothing, allows the guest to talk for hours, and achieves nothing. There’s no science because there’s no substantive discussion.
Rogan is an entertainer, not an informed interviewer.
The sooner people realize that, the sooner we stop hearing retards complaining about or praising him.
Lawsuits, loss of jobs, and fewer enrollment numbers can't come fast enough.
That's going to depend on how fast private schools and businesses and organizations that facilitate home schooling can scale up. Most parents aren't capable of educating their children on their own.
Is there any scientific evidence that "education" is even a thing?
That would depend on how tightly you define "scientific".
Well, we certainly don't want to create a proper double blind experiment, with one group of children attending schools and home schooling, with a control group that is deliberately not taught anything, then see how they fair after twelve years. That's just cruel on the control group.
But yes, there is consensus that "education" exists. The debate is not over that, the debate is over what institutions must provide the education.
I suspect the non-educated control group might do better than most public school groups
Given the total failures of the Public schools in most large Democrat run cities I would think you can't get much worse education that one that dupes people into the fantasy thinking that their child is being educated. Only to find after graduation that they are illiterate, lack basic knowledge and can't function within the society in which their live.
The failure of the inner city schools is the biggest reason for the continued condition within minority communities generation after generation and the school to jail express train that has wrecked so many thousands of lives. Yet it continues on and on as if it is a conscious decision to keep an under educated class of people for some unknown reason. Can't be just by chance.
I would like to at least get the correct change from one of these newly college educated moron baristas. If I can do the math in my head faster than they can do it with their phone, we got a problem.

Fuck off, idiot asshole dave.
I used to poo-pah the idea of systemic racism, but last night I came to the realization that it truly does exist:
1) Public Education
2) War on Drugs
3) Gun Control.
When I came to that realization it wasn't hard to figure out which side works hardest to perpetuate this system, and who fight the hardest to address the best solution to the biggest contributor, Public Education. The next time a progressive dismisses school choice, call them a racist, white supremacist who just is perpetuating systemic racism.
Oh yeah I have been doing this since summer of 2020. If all us white people have deep-seated, internalized racism taught to us by Institutions, you simply have to accept that Public Education is the primary example of those institutions. It was responsible for the 9-5 care and feeding of all us white racists for our entire formative years.
Defund the Police? Fuck that! Defund the schools!

Most parents are quite capable of teaching their children to read and write, or know someone who is.
Not Democrats. They can't figure out how to get a photo ID let alone read and write.
The large majority of parents are capable of educating their children. The trouble is that’s not what scholars for. They are babysitting services with an educational theme. It’s the babysitting component that most families would have a hard time dealing with.
*Scholars=schools
Fucking autocorrect.
"Most parents are quite capable of teaching their children to read and write, or know someone who is."
Sadly, that's naïve. Functional illiteracy and innumeracy are rampant in our country.
Maybe, but I doubt it's as high as 50%. Which means that it's correct to say that *most* parents can teach their children to read and write.
Pedantry is also rampant.
underrated comment...
Mask advocates are smothering kids with misinformation.
Lawsuits and fewer enrollments I can see, but there will be no job losses, just smaller class sizes.
"Scientists generally agree that, according to the research literature, wearing masks can help protect people from the coronavirus, but the precise extent of that protection, particularly in schools, remains unknown—and it might be very small,"
Doublethink much?
It was awful.
Never have so many done so much to provide so little benefit.
Or, from a utilitarian perspective, the marginal cost is FYTW.
note tje deliberate lie in that quote... " scientists generally agree"
CDCs own research says N95 masks dont stop aerosols.
When they lie for political reasons they always generalize...
Throughout the pandemic, Ds have been unwilling to admit anything or support any policy that, given an overly cynical reading, might lead someone to believe that these public health measures are not justifiable. Quite sad how jaded they are.
"If you do as you're told by The Authorities, you won't always do the right thing, but that's always still better than making your own choices."—90% of Americans.
Again, Republicans so obsessed with Opposite Day that they miss the opportunity to do the right thing.
It should be up to the individual school districts, and not one dude at the state level, to decide what the local rules should be for local schools.
But school districts have no authority to violate human rights.
That's correct. Which is why homeschooling, unschooling, private schooling, and all other forms of alternative schooling need to be legal. Merely setting local rules for a local school does not constitute human rights violations, so long as the local school isn't a monopoly.
What isn't correct is the notion that one size must fit all and only one man at the top gets to decide.
The problem is the idea of public schools themselves, which are predicated on the idea of one size fits all. Arguing over which rules should be in effect is to wholly miss the core problem. Youngkin is wrong because his solution is merely a different set of rules that applies to all districts.
But one man is not at the top deciding how it is going to be. One man has ceded that power to every single parent and teacher and staff member as to how they will personally react to this virus.
Students in those districts are free to wear masks if they want to. It's the local districts imposing a one size fits all policy, not the governor.
It’s almost as if, no matter how many times someone points this out, Brandy won’t accept this.
Merely setting local rules for a local school does not constitute human rights violations
Horseshit, if the rules themselves constitute rights violations. There is voluminous case law on this.
Genocide is okay as long as it's done at the local level
You’ve put your finger on the main stupidity of the Republican Party. When the Democrats are illogical and irrational, the Republicans could jump in and propose balanced, well-reasoned alternative proposals.
But they don’t. They concentrate on being oppositional.
So, we end up with neither party acting as the “adult in the room”.
Is individual choice not a balanced, well-reasoned alternative?
I don't see where the Republican Party has clearly, consistently positioned themselves as being for individual choice.
Do they support individual choice on abortion?
Does Governor Abbott's ban on private employers requiring vaccination of their employees respect the business owner's choice?
Does Trump's CDC ban on evictions support individual choice?
Does the War on Drugs support individual choice?
Do proposals to force privately-owned social media sites to post user-provided content that they do not want to post support individual choice?
I could go on and on, giving examples where the Republican Party is not for individual choice.
Now do Democrats?
Sure. They don’t seem to get individual choice at all. Not even a little.
Didn’t mean to imply in any way that Democrats are better. They just weren’t the topic being discussed.
Right, the topic being discussed was how Republicans want to give people individual choice regarding masks.
Did you miss that?
He could have said it's great that Rs are for individual choice on masks. I wish they were better in other areas. He couldn't make himself do it.
BB is just a slaver. This time he wants to be a slaver at the district level. Next time he'll pick something else.
Bringing myself to do what you say I cannot. Just ask.
R’s are better on masks issue.
Sad you have to be shamed into not being a leftist on every issue.
So Democrats don’t get individual choice at all, while Republicans are wrong some of the time, but both sides?
I don't see where the Republican Party has clearly, consistently positioned themselves as being for individual choice.
Which is irrelevant when it comes to giving the finger to bad science and the bureaucracies that promote it. Especially coming from a party that's made it known they want parents to shut up and let the schools indoctrinate their kids. .
I don't see where the Republican Party has clearly, consistently positioned themselves as being for individual choice.
But in this case they actually did take such a position and you're criticizing them for it because it's not the centrist one.
the Republicans could jump in and propose balanced, well-reasoned alternative proposals.
This statement reveals a lot. "How dare you come in here with a liberty-maximizing policy, don't you know the offense that will cause the Democrats that I am in no way biased towards?"
Fair criticism. I wasn’t talking about the particular case in the blog post above. In this case, the governor did support individual choice.
Don’t follow your last paragraph at all.
Republicans are in the habit of proposing liberty-maximizing policies? Since when.
Lately, they don’t propose policies at all. They spend all their time demonizing Democrats instead of taking about governance.
Actually, Youngkin won because he talked about policies while McAuliffe spent the time trying to paint him as a white supremacist. And honestly, lately, Republicans have very much been talking about policies.
That's not to say they always do, but as far as demonizing goes, the left and "everyone who disagrees with me is a racist, misogynist, Islamophobe, white supremacist" is kind of leading the pack right now.
I mean, it ain't people on the right who ruin families and friendships because they can't stand to be around anyone who is a Democrat.
That’s better. We were talking past each other, with me talking about Republicans in general and you talking about this specific story.
That's Mike for you: "I don't want to talk about this case where Republicans are doing the right thing. I want to hijack this thread criticizing a vague caricature of republicans. Because the last thing I want is general agreement on anything."
But mike totally isn't here to troll people and run interference for the left!

This might be the best example of this she’s displayed in awhile.
Literally an article about Republicans advocating about individual choice, and Dee’s comment is that she just can’t see it happening.
“I mean, it ain't people on the right who ruin families and friendships because they can't stand to be around anyone who is a Democrat.”
I don’t think you have the actual knowledge to assume that is true. I would bet there are plenty of Republicans who have ruined their friendships and family relationships over partisan politics.
I know I have read accounts of just that happening in stories about some of the January 6th rioters.
Cite?
Did you read the studies and polling that shows Democrats exclude political opposition from their lives at much higher rates? it isn't even close sea lion.
Does it fit her narrative? No? Then she didn’t read those studies, and if you bother linking them to her, she’ll be back in a week pretending she’d never heard of them.
Actually, there are a tremendous amount of polls showing how Dems are much more insular and much more inclined to excise people from their lives based on political affiliation. The difference in this mindset between the two parties is actually quite staggering.
In addition, Liberals are far more likely to trust government institutions like the CIA, FBI and NSA. And they are far more likely to agree with the statement, "the government should do more to prevent the spread of misinformation".
The really crazy thing is that Republicans and Independents are generally on the same page about these things- it is the Democrats who are uniquely awful and authoritarian here.
Glenn Greenwald discusses it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5GiuWJqYJg

You just moved the goalposts.
Poor Dee doesn’t know what excise means.
They ruined their relationships when their friends or family found out they voted for Trump or down ticket Republicans.
Which is to say, lots of people hide their true political leanings because Democrats have become so toxic.
Republicans are in the habit of proposing liberty-maximizing policies? Since when.
Republican in general have been doing exactly that, at least in regards to COVID policies since c. June 2020. Which is the topic at hand.
Lately, they don’t propose policies at all. They spend all their time demonizing Democrats instead of taking about governance.
Governors spend a lot of time talking about governance, because they're actually, you know, governing. Or are you simply obsessing over internet conservatives and like-minded talking heads?
What about in the areas I specifically gave above as examples of Republicans _not_ backing maximization of liberties?
at least in regards to COVID policies
Then we don’t disagree.
To pick one, the War on Drugs.
First Step.
Immigration?
Mike: Please, can we change the subject to something else that makes it easier for me to bash Republicans? Please? Someone? Immigration? War on Drugs? Someone? Anyone?
It's a master class in whataboutism.
As a child I was told, that when you change the subject, you lose the argument.
"As a child I was told, that when you change the subject, you lose the argument."
Mike has lost every argument he's ever engaged in, but he's too abysmally stupid to understand that.
Are you including the welfare state with that? Or being ignorant like Jeff?
Bush the lesser wanted to do a worker visa thing that Democrats literally protested in the streets flying Mexican flags over.
"It's a master class in whataboutism."
Funny, you and I didn't disagree about anything. We were having a fairly civil conversation, too. Then Overt comes along and you have to show your loyalty to him or something by dissing me.
You realize they called you put for first both sides and then topic switching instead of the topic the article is about right?
You really are a baby sea lion.
"Then Overt comes along and you have to show your loyalty to him or something by dissing me."
Now this is hilarious. If Mike is to be believed, he has muted me. So, he has no idea what other people are doing- he certainly doesn't know what we are talking about.
The idea that I demand loyalty from anyone is hilarious, but this is more of Mike's caterwauling. He was called out for trying to derail a thread and now he wants to insist it is some sort of club thing.
In the off chance that Mike is actually reading my posts, all you need to do is stop being a giant troll, and I won't find myself calling out all your troll attempts. This thread was a perfect example of you trolling. We were talking about a specific policy, and you tried to derail the thread into some general referendum on your gripes with the GOP living in your head. You'll note that since BB actually was arguing in good faith, I actually had a discussion with him. When you put away the sealioning and concern trolling, perhaps I'll converse with you again.
"As a child I was told, that when you change the subject, you lose the argument."
Sure, but I didn't change the subject. AuspiciousOptimism made a generalized claim about Republicans, I replied with generalized discussion of Republicans -- and then Squirrel tried to restrict the discussion to only discussing COVID-19 policies.
Mome... People can read the actual thread. You know that right?
"I don't see where the Republican Party has clearly, consistently positioned themselves as being for individual choice."
Guys, stop arguing with Mike. He always argues in bad faith.
In the previous post, he asked why Republicans couldn't offer a "well reasoned, balanced" proposal for masking. When people respond with the obvious: "Letting parents decide on masking", Mike suddenly shifts the goal posts. Now, to be free of criticism, the Republicans have to "clearly and consistently position themselves as being for individual choice".
Let's skip to the end here: Republicans can never do anything that will appease Mike, other than get out of the way for the Left.
“I don't see where the Republican Party has clearly, consistently positioned themselves as being for individual choice.”
This article is literally an example of this.
abortion doesn't involve just one individual.
Abbot's ban doesn't stop an individual from wearing a mask.
CDC evictions was wrong, but Biden extended it as well, so a wash.
You mean the Democrat inspired war? Or did you miss Trump's First Step Act?
You mean provide liability protection benefits for not acting as a publisher?
You haven't really given anything. You've only tried defending the democrats.
“CDC evictions was wrong, but Biden extended it as well, so a wash.”
After admitting it was probably unconstitutional.
Don't feed the troll. Mock him for trying to change the subject from what is going on right now.
Mock her.
Wanted to point out how dumb his go to topics actually were.
Where the fuck did the goalpost go? I can't even see them.
This isn't a balanced well-reasoned alternative. This is kulturwar. This is "Democrats did it therefore we must do opposite". Stuff like this has always been in the purview of the individual school districts. The state only gets involved in setting academic standards and shuffling monies around. School uniforms? Up to the district. Classes start at 8:00am or 9:am? Up to the district. Mask requirements during a pandemic? Up to the district.
The school clothing policy is instructive. Why does no one blink twice when a school district mandates that students wear pants, but everyone loses their shit if the district mandates the wearing of masks during a pandemic?
Because there's actually a legitimate reason students should wear pants. There is no legitimate reason to require students to wear a mask.
Here, Brandy exhibits that she thinks exposing genitals is like exposing your face.
Brandy wears a condom 24/7 just in case. And takes aids cocktails just in case.
People who want to wear masks can wear masks. People who don't want to wear masks don't have to wear masks. Sounds balanced and well reasoned to me.
"This is "Democrats did it therefore we must do opposite"."
No. Wearing masks makes it harder for kids to hear and understand their teachers. It disrupts their ability to communicate with friends. It causes them to breathe in their own CO2 all day. It makes it harder to engage in PE. And, scientifically speaking, it does no good to stop the spread of COVID.
"Stuff like this has always been in the purview of the individual school districts. The state only gets involved in setting academic standards and shuffling monies around. School uniforms? "
Guess what: School uniforms has generally been left to the school, not the district. Why, exactly, do you feel this specific issue should be decided at the District level?
In fact all sorts of things are decided at all different levels. When does school start and end (School) How much volunteer work will be needed for a class? (Teacher) How much money parents should donate- and should they donate certain supplies instead? (Parent and Teacher) What field trips will the class go on? (Teacher and PTA) What is the student's personalized learning plan. (Teacher and Parent) What specific clothing will the kid wear (Parent and Student) What These are all things decided at the School, Class, and individual level- not district.
Why should masking policy be decided at the School District level? It seems to me the only reason why is that you are engaged in your own Kulture War.
not for Totalitarians!
"When the Democrats are illogical and irrational, the Republicans could jump in..."
Or maybe, pounce?!
"You’ve put your finger on the main stupidity of the Republican Party. When the Democrats are illogical and irrational, the Republicans could jump in and propose balanced, well-reasoned alternative proposals."
Mike is totally balanced, people!
Intransigent Lefties in various school districts are FORCING KIDS TO WEAR FACE COVERS. That is a fucking travesty. It is abusive. And it is not grounded in science.
But Mike has nothing to say about that. All he can be bothered to do is criticize the one person in VA with the power *and* the willingness to stop this abuse. Somehow, the Republicans are supposed to "propose balanced, well-reasoned alternative proposals".
Well, here is a well-reasoned, alternative proposal: It is up to parents to decide if their kids are going to wear a face mask all day. It is well reasoned- on the science, and on the liberties. And it is balanced- parents concerned about their kids can muzzle their little Avas and Tuckers while the rest of parents can set their children free from abuse.
> FORCING KIDS TO WEAR FACE COVERS
Lefties in various school districts (all of them actually) are requiring students to wear clothes. That is a fucking travesty. It is abusive. And in this day and age of indoor climate control in classrooms, it is not grounded in science.
I don't see how masks are any different from a dress code. I don't agree with most dress codes, but it's up the school district to set one or not, not the governor.
When you have to resort to such intellectually dishonest arguments, it's time to pack it in.
If you truly can't see the difference between demanding students not come to school naked versus mask mandates for COVID, then there is no point in discussing with you.
Brandybuck seems intrigued by the idea of making naked schoolchildren a civil rights issue.
Brandyshit is an imbecilic partisan who is not capable of differentiating a political candidate who might help libertarian causes from those who will do otherwise.
Brandyshit is a pathetic piece of shit who assumes his 'purity' has some connection to what we'd like to see.
Brandshit deserves to be fucked with rusty garden implements.
If you can't see the difference between putting on pants and wearing a face mask.
You might be
a redneckspeaking out of your own ass.As wearing.., or not wearing either.. Has the same benefit in limiting the spread of a virus...Which is NONE!! What's the difference?
The Phucko Knows
"I don't see how masks are any different from a dress code. I don't agree with most dress codes, but it's up the school district to set one or not, not the governor."
Ok, since school uniforms typically are not decided at the District level, why do you think masks should be?
It is the level of government ran mostly by democrats to push his preferred policy.
The Gov. DIDNT set a code.
So, there!
You've gotten dumber and more authoritarian since covid began.
I think the difference here is that wearing clothes has been a cultural norm in most of the world since the Mesolithic. Masks not so much.
Except that even in nominally conservative areas, the school districts are typically run by left-wingers who automatically do whatever Democrat-run bureaucracies tell them to do.
Again, leftists so obsessed with masquerading as liberal or left-libertarians miss the opportunity to recognize that the right thing is even happening.
It should be up to the individuals or families attending school, and not one dude at the district level, to decide the minimum of attendance rules, not the maximum attendance requirements, should be for any given district.
"It should be up to the individual school districts, and not one dude at the state level,"
Why?
Since Brandy tends to give his opinions then leave (which is fine- not everyone can spend the whole day in comment threads) I am going to answer my own question.
I would assume that Brandy thinks local government is preferable to state wide mandates. Why is that important? Probably because it allows flexibility for the school districts to meet the needs of their local communities. We are talking about giving more "fine grained" control on these decisions.
But if providing more fine grained control is so important, why do we stop at the school district? Why not at the school? Why not in the individual classroom? After all- even class to class, there are many differences in the needs and desires of students.
Well, the Governor has done one better- he has provided the most fine-grained approach and given control of this decision to each individual in the state. Teachers, parents, administrators and other staff all get to choose for themselves what circumstances of masking they will undertake. If you want "local control" over these decisions, there is nothing more local than this.
I sympathize with the principle - there's situations where you do need uniformity and those pretty much require a statist solution. In such situations you want to get down to the most local level feasible when implementing such policies.
But the default should be one in which the individual's choice is paramount. And plenty of people even around here forget that, often for reasons of style and form rather than content.
In a thread on masks not working per the CDC here, brandy still claimed masks worked. He isn't one to have honest conversations about covid with.
You are ignoring Brandyshit's primary intent, and it is not surprising.
You are a TDS-addled asshole who would never accept anything Trump accomplished as a positive effort; Brandyshit is a partisan pile of shit who would never vote for anyone who wasn't an L candidate.
You are both steaming piles of shit who have given the rest of us the government you both deserve.
To the both of you: STUFF IT UP YOUR ASS and make your family proud.
"You are a TDS-addled asshole who would never accept anything Trump accomplished as a positive effort;"
What the fuck are you talking about? I have numerous times (including today) pointed out that Trump's record on SCotUS picks probably did more to save this country than any other. Honestly, other than his immigration and tariff nonsense, I don't have a lot to complain about with him.
But- in case you didn't notice- Trump has jack shit to do with what is happening right now in VA- it is about woke lefties and a republican governor. You are the one who cannot seem to stop talking about Trump. Well you and SQRLSY, but is that really the company you want to keep?
Between stuff like this; Strawberry Shittake's response; upper-middle and upper class leftists and unions striking to reimplement remote learning despite how retarded it's making most kids; and Wicked Whitmer of the Midwest and the Michigan DNC saying that parents should butt out because schools are supposed to teach kids "what society needs to know" (like how evil white people are, for example, and that there are an infinite number of genders), the Dems are doing a better job of undermining the public education system than the most ardent anarcho-capitalist could have imagined, must less more traditional Reagan and Goldwater conservatives.
“ Several districts—including Arlington and Alexandria City Public Schools, which both neighbor D.C.—vowed to openly defy the order, receiving encouragement from White House press secretary Jen Psaki.”

Tell them you work for the Washington Post next time.
Just another example of how this is not about health but rather about showing proper obedience of the Branch Covidian cult.
Same as it ever was. The big blue cities are acting all high and mighty enacting vax passes, but the rest of the country is completely ignoring covid and doing just as well.
"masks, combined with multiple other ACPS mitigation measures, have been effective in helping to protect the collective health and safety of our students and staff and keep our schools open for in-person learning."
So basically "we had masks, and we assume it would have been worse if we didn't have anything, therefore masks are awesome". Pretty weak tea.
"Pretty weak tea."
That's SCIENCE! (tm) to you, bub!
Cap'n Crunch, when combined with milk, orange juice and toast with butter, is part of a complete breakfast.
Sounds like the worst smoothie, or best hangover cure, ever.
complete. Not nutricious.

Now can we get back to teaching Creationism in schools? There is no empirical evidence for that either.
I doubt the unions will exist in ten years, and certainly not as they exist today.
"Who is Jimmy Hoffa, Alex?
Let's go with Famous Last Quotes for $300."
Reason, why did you choose that photo? It makes my eyes hurt.
Similarly, Alexandria Superintendent Gregory Hutchins (whose own child attends private school)
Why does the Superintendent have so little confidence in the school system they manage that their kids are sent to a private school?
Pretty much every upper-class Democrat is like this.
Reason, why did you choose that photo? It makes my eyes hurt.
So you feel the pain that the children feel having their oxygen supply cut?
It's the photo? I thought I was having an acid flashback.

..daubbing Unicorn piss has been effective..
Youngkin should respond by immediately halting state funding for Arlington and Alexandria school districts, and sending in state troopers to their schools to ensure that nobody is forced to wear a mask.
To ensure that teachers unions and left wing politicians won't be able to ever hold Virginia's parents and children hostage again, Youngkin should also urge the Republican controlled legislature to swiftly enact a law that greatly expands school choice options for Virginia parents.
I don't think we need to adopt the same measures supported by the Salt Lake Tribune against people who haven't been injected with the Holy Coof Juice.
" sending in state troopers to their schools"
I think this is probably the appropriate response. Let kids walk into the school without a mask on, and if the school tries to keep them from entering, or force them to leave, escort them in.
All that said, the end game there is a mass sick-out just as happened in Chicago. But let the teachers do that...just let them, and see how long they maintain their power. The temper tantrum in Chicago got the Mayor to turn on them...THE MAYOR OF CHICAGO.
Problem is, like most politics in this country, mask wearing has become both religious and a political team sport. Have to feel safe with the warm placebo blanket that is the mask, but also have to virtue signal for your political religion and not back down even one scintilla to the evil opposing political religion.
Yes, forcing people, in this case children, to wear masks as visible promotion of obedience to the totalitarian state is evil.
Look, I don't have any problems with an all-powerful government diktat that crushes our freedoms under its hobnail boot, as long as it's science-based.
All hail science.
Dramatic much?
If you think public health measures, even dumb, misguided ones, are crushing of freedoms under hobnailed feet, you have had the fortune of not experiencing real oppression.
Wooosh
It's not oppression until ovens are turned on according to Mike apparently.
Public health measures is a euphemism
A. Hitler was about Public Health.
He used experimental drugs on people.
but at least try to get the science part right
Progressives should definitely keep treating parents and their opinions like shit--right up through the midterms in November.
Oh, and Biden should keep telling everyone that if you don't support him, you're on the side of segregation and the Confederacy.
Treating parents like shit and people who don't want inflation like racists--that's the road to victory for the Democrats in 2022.
If Republicans can manage to STFU about abortion, gay marriage, etc., 2022 will be a cakewalk. It's like the progressives are trying to lose.
If Republicans can manage to STFU about abortion
So far they're failing at that, at least where I live.
"Oh, and Biden should keep telling everyone that if you don't support him, you're on the side of segregation and the Confederacy."
Jefferson Davis - Democrat
George Wallace - Democrat
Bull Connor - Democrat
He really is senile.
If you look at it from a swing-voting Democrat's view, whether Jefferson Davis and George Wallace were Democrats isn't as important as the insinuation that everyone to the right of LGBT Sinema is a racist. He's referring to suburban women Democrats as racists if they don't support him, which is and should be offensive to suburban women--even the moderate Democrats among them. Biden's attack wasn't directed at Republicans. It was directed at moderate Democrats--the kind that vote for Manchin and Sinema.
But don't you remember, all the bad Democrats magically switched to being Republicans and all the good Republicans magically switched to being Democrats?
We have always been at war with Eastasia.
Oh, come on, the musical chair theory (excuse) is how the democrats can still sleep at night. By the way Dinesh D'souza did a great job exposing this lie, only four people switched parties, and LBJ was a racist asshole. The democrats love their fairy tales.
>>receiving encouragement from White House press secretary Jen Psaki
supposed to be a benefit?
What would happen if a school district defied a governor's mask mandate? They would swoop in with the state police and enforce it. It would have already happened.
Same thing has to happen in reverse. Swoop in and instruct the school officials to stand down or get arrested.
You can only arrest people for breaking a law. Those who want to arrest people for political reason are fascists.
Violating citizens' rights under cover of law IS breaking the law.
Not if we wave a rainbow flag while doing it.
The DOJ says ‘Hold muh beer. I got some DOE-mestic terrorist to arrest at a school board meeting!’
You are almost there... You almost got it...
“None of that is to say there's no benefit from wearing a mask.”
There really is no benefit from wearing a mask.
Masks effective for:
Political theater / posturing
Fun sloganeering
Religious totem
That is all
Leana Wen did say the quiet part out loud in that interview just before Christmas.
There's wiggle room in her comment.
So if I put my AP fact check hat on, she said "cloth masks" (which a large # of people wear) but she went on to say '3 ply' masks were what you wanted to wear. I presume she's talking about the standard surgical masks. Um, which also don't work, according to the CDC... which is why there's been a sudden increased interest and discussion of N95 masks. Everyone is beginning to acknowledge the lie without saying it out loud.
Important pieces of evidence:
Prog-controlled school districts where they implement the most anti-science BS (lockdowns, all virtual, masks) and pro CRT curriculums have the most students that are illiterate and far below their expected math level.
Progs that have money send their kids to fancy private schools rather than the districts implementing their preferred curricula / policies.
Probably has to do with urban poverty which is a result of red lining, block busting, the subsidization of suburbia, etc. which helped white flight.
But I wouldn't expect a dumbass to make an obvious connection. Especially not one making comments about CRT which isn't taught at anything lower than university.
But hey, keep spewing garbage. I'm sure someone dumber than you will come by to lap it on up.
Shown decrease in rates of literacy and math levels AFTER implementing equity programs for these kids. They started low, and the equity programs your lefty boos put them in made them worse (as expected). I mean who woulda thought you could tell a kid they dont have to get to the correct answer because "whiteness" or show your work, and little Laquan would get worse at math?!?! The audacity!
But no surprise you came back with "muh white supremacy!"
"Especially not one making comments about CRT which isn't taught at anything lower than university."
- Disproved over and over. Literally school districts and the NEA who have documented plans for implementing CRT and its praxis.
Fuck outta here with that gaslighting. You are about 6 months behind everyone here with your talking points. Its getting too easy to slap you little statists around outside of your bubbles.
West Virginia has a higher childhood literacy rate than the progressive utopias of New York and California!
If you don't think "CRT" is exactly the right term, fine. But that doesn't mean that whatever people are referring to as "CRT" isn't happening. Because it most definitely is.
I don't think you are smart enough to realize that this is what you are doing, but "it's not CRT" is a cheap, easy deflection which completely ignores and minimizes real things that are happening that people are legitimately concerned about. Yes, by the strict technical definition, elementary students are not being taught CRT. But in many places they are being subjected to insane "woke" bullshit, whatever you think it should be called.
If you don't think "CRT" is exactly the right term, fine. But that doesn't mean that whatever people are referring to as "CRT" isn't happening. Because it most definitely is.

Postmodern nazism
Statism.
Failing that, communism.
I think he's looking for a more specific answer. Old school marxists like deBoer are just as bemused by this shit as we are.
"Progressive racial activists might be surprised by the states with the smallest black-white achievement gap when it comes to high school graduation rate, as measured during the 2016–17 school year. Those states are West Virginia, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Maine, Wyoming, Alabama, North Carolina, and Georgia. Chris Stewart, a black, liberal former Minneapolis school board member and CEO of education think tank Brightbeam, crunched the numbers and reluctantly found one solid correlation: The more progressive the city, the worse the “achievement gap.”"
https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-seattle-schools-woke-indoctrination-czar-who-married-a-child-molester
Not surprising at all.
I suspect Georgia is on there primarily because most of the country's black middle/upper-middle class lives in Atlanta. These are people who are already going to be naturally more involved in their kids' education.
Probably has to do with urban poverty which is a result of red lining, block busting, the subsidization of suburbia, etc. which helped white flight.
TFW you have to cite shit that happened 50-60 years ago to cover for why your glorious blue cities remain caste-afflicted shitholes.
But I wouldn't expect a dumbass to make an obvious connection. Especially not one making comments about CRT which isn't taught at anything lower than university.
If cultural Marxism isn't being employed in K-12, then banning it isn't a big deal.
But hey, keep spewing garbage. I'm sure someone dumber than you will come by to lap it on up.
Hey, you're here.
The only good raspberrydinners is a Rosenbaum'd raspberrydinners.
The thing is 50-60 years ago black students were catching up quick with white students. Not excusing the racist practices, just saying there is no or very little correlation to be made between these practices and anything the left blames on them today.
So the superintendent of Detroit Schools was lying when he said, on video, that CRT was being taught in DPSs?
This plus many other well documented incidents.
They cant even do a no-true-Scotsman argument anymore, as many deep blue districts have called for straight up, "critical race theory" in the curriculum. That argument worked 6 months ago before the masks came off (the metaphorical ones only, of course)
its no surprise the shit-weasel hasn't responded to any of the above
The obvious connection is that rich liberals in deep blue school districts who advocate for and vote for proggie bullshit in school,ls, then opt to send their kids to expensive private schools, so they are not affected by the proggie bullshit.
So, the one you missed.
Imagine being so small govt that you block small govt from doing what they please.
Raspberry is only here to quip shallow one liners here, so she doesn't really understand how vapid this zinger is.
But for the sake of all the other people in the thread, mask mandates- small government does not equal local government. You can have a federal government that is small and tightly scoped, and you can have local governments that are bloated and intrude on everything and anything.
The local governments are doing too much- specifically claiming the scope and power to abuse children all day long. The governor put a stop to that. This reduces the scope and power of State, county and local governments.
Raspberry contends that 1A is big government because it prohibits many small governments from passing draconian anti-speech laws.
The smallest unit of governance is the individual, and then the family. Blocking local government from enforcing inane decrees that remove decisions that should be made individually or at the family level is no vice.
Do you think that's an intelligent observation or something?
The point is that no level of government should be allowed to do as it pleases. If you don't understand that after hanging around here for years, you are even dumber than I thought.
I could be wrong, but isn't Raspberry's argument the same one Wallace made against ending segregation? That states should make that decision not the federal government because it is more local?
Imagine being a dumbshit, and imagine you're raspberrydinners.
But I repeat myself.
How long did you rehearse this?
I strongly suspect that 90% of people who still actually believe masks and/or vaccines prevent the transmission of covid and who routinely wear masks (when outdoors and/or alone in a car, workplace, or home) voted for Biden/Harris, and are committed left wing activists.
Wouldn't that conversely imply that 90% of those who shun vaccines and other precautions are Trumpaloos?
No.
Freedom of choice and voluntary use of vaccines is vastly different than government mandated vaccines for everyone, something left wing losers cannot seem to comprehend.
Shunning science because of politics is something only right wing losers seem to understand.
I've always put science before politics, and was a registered Democrat from 1979-2015 who actually campaigned for Obama/Biden in 2008 (before realizing in 2009 that their global and domestic socialist policy agendas were disastrous, and vastly different than their campaign promises).
it always was that way. Obama just refused to hide it any longer to retaliate against white people.
You are writing this in the comments of an article that literally shows how lefties are shunning science for politics...
The facepalm on this one is impressive.
You do understand I was responding to a comment and switching words around to show the absurdity of what I was replying to by being absurd, right?
I was replying to by being absurd
Just not in a funny or clever way.
or accurate.
Oh boo hoo. You hurt my feelings. Think I'm gonna cry now.
Would that make you feel better? I can't think of any possible reason for that imaginative retort other than to satisfy some childish urge to be the mean kid because for some reason you think everyone liked the mean kid and thought he was cool.
See below where I elaborate about how your response was not logical and certainly not honest. Can I also point out that the righteous indignation you are expressing is in direct conflict with your claim to be engaging in absurdity.
“Oh boo hoo. You hurt my feelings. Think I'm gonna cry now.”
That’s part of your schtick, yes.
Speaking of mean kids, look there's JesseAZ no doubt quoting or writing scripts for thirteen year old girls.
Please oh please JesseAZ, accuse me of something I never said nor did then call me a liar when I say you're full of shit!
No doubt.
So stupid to create strawman on people you claim to have muted. Just proves you're retarded.
I’m not seeing the absurdity in his post. Collectivization sure, but not absurdity
Not a lefty folks! When even the CDC admits cloth masks are theater and you hold on to protect Biden and the left... LOL.
Please show the "science" including the application of the scientific method as well as the peer reviewed data that backs it up. This requires blind testing and control groups, not supposed observations of the Populus. A study is not real science, we have a method and it is not being used.
You may want to look at the least likely group to have received vaccines (minorities that vote democrat) and if we expand beyond the COVID vaccine, the least vaccinated counties tend to be the deepest blue counties.
Also, typical sarcasmic idiocy: Rejection of option A, that entirely doesn't work means you're on the team that rejects mandated option B, that also doesn't really work. Because you're rejecting the perfection that I don't have, you must be a part of BOWF SIDEZ!
We're eventually going to get to a point where an OTC anti-COVID Tamiflu-style nasal-spray is going to expire sitting in the back of everyone's medicine cabinet. The policy of 'get vaccinated every 10 weeks, tested every 2, wearing masks in between, or we shut down the economy... again' is unsustainable from all kinds of directions.
Typical mad.casual idiocy: not seeing an absurd response to an absurd comment was to show the absurdity of the original comment.
In honest discourse, the correct response when attempting to highlight absurdity is rationality. Heaping absurdity upon absurdity simply compounds the original logical fallacy and is not constructive.
I have a question Chuck: was your dead pig pal an anti-government type like you?
It’s ridiculous if they were because him and his wife are being paid with MY TAX DOLLARS! That money was used to fund your evil, bigoted, hateful church! THATS WRONG!
His wife is a public school teacher! You bitch about “Marxist CRT indoctrination” all the time yet you’re friends with a Mormon cunt who is literally teaching in a public school. Mormons are incapable of separating their beliefs from anything. That cunt is brainwashing her students!
I may take a trip to the coast and have to make a stop to tell that cunt and her cunt daughters to get out of MY STATE and go back to theocratic shithole Utah!
You Mormons are too stupid and arrogant to keep your hands to yourself. That’s why you’re so dangerous!

This isn’t political Gumby! It’s about keeping my state safe from pervert worshipping bigots forcing their disproven beliefs and lifestyle on everyone.

Straight from losing your shit at me up above to shock and surprise over a KAR post? Proof that you are exactly what I have previously asserted, a gaslighting piece of shit too stupid to not inevitably succumb to your own schtick?
We have missed you!
I was worried the Beaverton police had come over and bludgeoned you into the hospital with their nightsticks, little buddy. Luckily, there's no possibility of blows to the head causing brain damage. You are clearing running on at least 4 cylinders of that V8 of an intellect.
I always know I have pushed sarcasmic a little too far when you show up. Are you guys pen pals, or just nom-de-plume pals?
Anyway, keep up the good fight. I sent the missionaries over to your place to surrender on behalf of the church. You should change into a shirt that's not covered in peanut butter and Cheetos dust if you have one.
Your best bud 4ever - Chucky P.
So I’ll take it as your dead pig friend and his cunt wife are anti govt types like you.
Awww, fuckface must have realized every rational person here muted them.
except you, troll enabler
And he jumps into claiming it was absurdity and sarcasm when he figures out what he wrote was partisan trolling. Hilarious.
Never change man. Never change.
And when I demolish that fallacy, POP! goes the shitweasel.
Well, not really. For one thing, only like 1/3 of people vote in presidential elections. And a lot of people voted for Trump as lesser of two evils and not because they have any admiration or loyalty to the man.
It was more like half last time.
Yeah, I guess. What was it like 70-something million each way?
Both candidates received more votes than any other candidate in history. 81 million to 74 million.
67% of eligible persons voted, which was 7.5% more than 2016. In the past 50 years, it has ranged from 52% (1996) to 63% (2008).
The proper conclusion to draw is that a shitload of Democrats are racist misogynists who only turn out for creepy old white guys.
Mormons find Trump abhorrent but don’t mind voting for him because Biden loves the gays, blacks, and non Christians.
Mormist!!
Is there someone on the ballot who isn't a creepy old white guy?
I think there was some weirdo white chick on there.
Quite a few Hispanics. Or are they white in your world?
White-Hispanic like Jorge Zimmerman.
Really? For some reason I thought it was a lot closer than that.
That would be because the entire thing came down to so few votes in so few states. NV margin was 34K, WI margin was 20K, GA margin was 12K and AZ margin was 11K. It would have only taken half + 1 of those votes to flip those states and win in the EC.
The surplus of Biden votes in CA and NY alone account for the entire 7 million spread. That doesn't invalidate the popular vote, it just demonstrates how the folks in the states with the largest entitlements influence their populace to vote for the party that guarantees the entitlements are not interrupted.
“Entitlements!”
I’m more concerned about far right anti govt cops going around violating the rights of non Mormons. Or cunt Mormon teachers in public schools forcing their disproven beliefs on their students. At the same time taking their pay from the govt and donating it to an evil, bigoted church.
That’s what your dead pig friend and his cunt wife did. The world is a safer place with him burning in hell.
Weird how they only shoot right leaning protesters.
I also strongly suspect that 90% of Americans who still support government mandates for covid vaccines and boosters also voted for Biden/Harris, and are left wing activists.
In my experience the people who support mandates for vaccines and such are old people looking out for their own personal self interest. Politics has nothing to do with it.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Our tender-aged young people are well versed in the language of lockdowns, mandatory masks and forceful state intervention.
And it just keeps getting better:
Masks today, Masks tomorrow, Masks forever.
My daughter's school forces kids to wear masks when they're not at their desks. Whenever they stand up for whatever reason they're supposed to cover their faces. It warms my heart when they complain to me about how difficult it is to make her comply.
Diane contradicted sarc’s observation and so he brought up his daughter in hopes someone would say something mean about her, making him a victim.
I'm just saying that with the exception of an aunt who is a right-wing hermit who like Nardz and Sevo doesn't use email and believes the vaccine contains microchips, every old person I know supports mandatory vaccines. Most of them voted for Trump.
How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Lockdowns
Holy Shit, what is wrong with kids these days?
They are taught compliance first and foremost. Forget the three Rs. Obedience is the most important subject.
They are openly play acting our politics. My daughter forgot to pull up her mask after lunch (here in CA, kids must mask all day while indoors) and her first thought was, "Oh shit, they are going to think I'm a Trump supporter."
Masking isn't about the actual health. It is about the social signaling. And it is completely reinforced by the schools where teachers are constantly encouraging the politicization of everything. Literally everything. Her Chemistry class had a project where she had to find a scientific paper offering a solution to environmental problems, and 1) give a presentation on the chemistry involved and 2) provide actionable ideas on how they could get the government to adopt this stuff.
Everything about that presentation (which she aced) just took for granted that science and government could solve all our environmental problems. As a libertarian father, navigating between the clickiness of teenage girls, the total social justice warfare of their teachers and the need for the kid to get good grades for school has been...challenging.
Hmm. I guess acting out parents' and broader politics did happen when I was that age too. But it was less disturbing then. Oh for the days when it was just hippies vs. rednecks.
Hell, by the time I was in school (north Idaho in the 1980s to mid 1990s) most of the hippies were well on their way to becoming the rednecks.
Theyre the FauXi Youth.
Brain dead. Brain washed
“FauXi Youth”
GOOD ONE!! I’m stealing it.
Why not, I did!
Your experiences are inconsistent with the facts.
More Americans over age 45 voted for Trump than Biden, while voters 18-29 voted overwhelmingly for Biden (62% - 35%).
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1184426/presidential-election-exit-polls-share-votes-age-us/
"...while voters 18-29 voted overwhelmingly for Biden (62% - 35%)."
TDS-addled adolescents focus on personality; they want a comfy daddy-figure as POTUS. Perhaps one day they'll grow up.
If old people strongly supported vaccine mandates, why did Virginia voters over age 45 strongly prefer Younkin over McCauliffe (including 58% of voters 65+)?

Wouldn't be the first time sarc lied about his thoughts being formed by his experience or when he listened to right wing radio. All lies made up to support his idiocy.
Sarc knows an old lady that wears a mask, so he decided to turn that into a subtle dig against Republicans.
Just sharing my personal anecdotal observations:
- I do see some of my Democrat friends, mostly in California, reflexively backing mandates just because their team backs them.
- I have also seen the shenanigans of the Seattle school board turning my niece from loyal liberal to resentful of mandates.
Please.... The virtue signaling is everywhere. The Left is full of losers who belive in Big Business and Big Government. So much for the Hippies being anti BIG government and business. The hypocrisy is at an all-time high. As the Right becomes awakened.., and the Left disappears up The Mans Ass. It's all rather gross. So many folks on the Left have absolutely no meaning to thier pathetic life's. They just eb and flow from one falsehood to the next looking for some kind of meaning to thier pathetic existence.
The Phucko Knows
I keep getting the government other people deserve.
lol. this.
So a governor allows people to make choices and there is an uproar?
That is so sad.
And it's unlibertarian. Schools should have the right to impose any measure they want, and if the governor bans those measures, then the governor is interfering with our right of tyrannical association.
Youngkin: In the name of Virginia, stop masking the children, Superintendent.
Hutchins: Are you threatening children, Governor?
Youngkin: The science says it doesn't work.
Hutchins: I am the science!
Youngkin: Not yet.
Hutchins: It's democracy, then...
1. There is more data that shows masks work then that study.
2. VA law requires the school districts to follow CDC guidelines and the dictator can’t wipe that out with a pen stroke.
3. Rs are supposed to be about returning control of schools to the local level.
Local control does not imply a special privilege to violate students' rights.
3. Wrong. Rs are suppose to protect our individual rights so we have control of our children's personal health choices; not the local level.
Btw, this is also the correct Libertarian position but I understand you're not an L.
Properly fitted N95 masks or the ubiquitous virtue-signaling face diapers?
Local control is not a moral principle, just a useful tool. Local control can be, and often is, just as tyrannical as control from higher up. There is nothing inherently preferable about local control per se.
Masks may work in lab tests, if they are of sufficient quality and worn properly.
Mask mandates have been proven to fail for the past 2 years.
False. They did not work in lab tests say CDC AND NIH RESEARCH.
Cite missing, dimwit.
fuck off sevo.
.Find your IQ on a thetmostat.
Show us the peer-reviewed lab test that say mask work in limiting the spread of a virus?
The Phucko Knows
"1. There is more data that shows masks work then that study."
Maybe they should use an actual study and put that up for debate rather than the child level "science" they posted in support of their argument.
But I wouldnt expect much from the side of "the science (TM)"
Additionally:
All the double masker, mask in car, double vax + booster progs I encounter at work all got COVID recently.
So how about we dont listen to the side that crashed the economy and still got a big fat ZERO on covid results. K?
Molly will never admit that her brain dead policy positions don’t work. Like a good little piggy.
Nothing is more local than individual choice i.e. allowing the parents to make the decisions. It isn't a fucking hard concept to grasp. For anyone with an IQ higher than their shoe size that is.
the masks do not work, this will remove all doubt:

Here is the truth about the flim-flam-demic:
https://tritorch.com/flim-flam-demic
I prefer our public servants in masks. Most of them are so incredibly ugly. The masks are a huge improvement. Makes them look almost human.
Id prefer plastic bags tied tightly about the neck and sealed with Duct Tape.
The nylon zip tied wrists would be an appropos accessory.
I'd prefer dimwits fuck off.
Well it doesn't appear to impact their working ability much. As in not getting anything done. Been trying to get my Army Transcripts sent to Montana Board of Nursing for three weeks. They haven't yet even replied to my email.
theres a lot of that...I cant get responses from tech related companies.
Good news, the fourth booster will boost your antibodies even more than the third dose.
The bad news is that the fourth dose may not be highly effective against Omicron.
Good news, the Omicron specific booster will be available in March, meaning your fifth dose should be the most effective so far.
Make your appointments now.
Warning, the CNN Newsbabe has the fucking temerity to ask the expert "when will this finally stop?"
Follow the science, ffs.
the hysteria will stop when the sobs stop spreading it.
Will it be safer and more effective than just catching Omicron?
And will there be anyone at that point who hasn't caught omicron?
I will never know if I caught it.
Has there been anytime in the past three months, even accidentally or inadvertently, where you may have been even briefly not wearing a mask? If yes, them yes.
“them yes.”
My favorite thems.
I'm not sure if I had it or not, but was sick over Christmas. Spent Christmas at my folks, a week after we left both my Mom and my brother tested positive.
My Dad was sick too, but didn't get tested.
Was your Mormon family there? If they were I hope they got Covid and died
Doubt it. I think I only know a handful of people left who haven't had it.
Ha cracks me up all the posts about how basically "kids make up reasons not to go to school" as some evidence that any of the BS is warranted.
The grownups have to open the schools and tell the kids they are going to school. Like its always been
They can ignore the fact that even teachers in their districts are sending their kids to private schools and they are about to lose tons of funding due to declining enrolment, or they can continue to make it about politics. Looks like they chose the latter.
Government schools are following the cable tv industry model.
Never underestimate the intelligence of democrats
theyre not stupid. Theyre evil.
Eeeeeeeevviiilllll!
They murder babies and call it Parenthood.
"The science isn't actually on school districts' side."
They don't actually care about that. This is about showing Youngkin and those uppity parents who's boss.
How about a compromise?
A "Fuck Biden" mask.
Is that Change we can Believe in?
How about you fuck off, dimwit?
Is it time to admit systemic racism does exist and the biggest proponents of it are teachers' unions that oppose school choice?
Teacher’s unions overwhelmingly support Democrats. Ipso Facto, they can’t be racist.
Follow the Democrats playbook here. Start locking up school board presidents, superintendents of schools and principals, along with teacher's union heads with no charge and keep them there until masks are gone from the schools forever.
Hey government repression should never be one sided!
The 1303 law passed during the height of the pandemic, with the help of Republicans permits any school district to ignore this Executive order and the Courts will back them up. Science is not the problem here. The GOP has the spine of a bananna and got steamrolled by the left again. The language of the law is atrocious and cedes jurisdiction of the issue to the CDC and their guidelines which currently favor masking. Thankfully the law comes with an expiration date of August 2022.
why you poor thing, you think theres a dines diff between Democrsps and Republicraps?
I hope you just figured that out.
Theyre a politucal Pushne-Pullya
A head on each end and full of shit.
Don't worry about freeing the children, just free the money. Parents will take care of the rest.
what a nice article I'm 24musicplay i love this
Wearing a piece of cloth on one's face is does NOT present a burden.
They do, however, present ample fodder for narcissistic rage-aholics that over-estimate their own intelligence in absence of authentic values.
Great comments section, Reason. Your contribution to the advance of discourse endures as it has for decades.
“ but the precise extent of that protection, particularly in schools, remains unknown—and it might be very small,"
Is that what you’re calling “debunking” the common sense of mask wearing?
People are dying bc theyre out if work and money, and picking thru trash cans for food.
Thats how its spreading.
Biden 2024! 4 more years of disaster.
"ACTIVELY TRYING to keep our inner city schools, predominantly POC, failing and the students dumb, ignorant, and unable to be self sufficient."
The Ds are the real racists.
See any in the Media? Lester, but hes a Token.
In Academia? Occasionally one slips in.
They put a grudging few in Pubic school to put up a front.
Psakus just pissed off that Biden wont sniff her hair and grope her.
Shes too OLD!
Jen you ignorant slut!
