Brickbat: Mark It Down

An Illinois police officer has been charged with aggravated battery and official misconduct for attacking a student while working off-duty as a security guard at West Proviso High School in Hillside. Prosecutors say Eligah Skinner barged into a classroom and ordered the student to stop writing on a whiteboard. The student had permission from the teacher to write on the board, which he tried to explain to Skinner. But Skinner threw a deflated dodgeball, a bottle of lotion, and a water bottle at the student, hitting him with all three. Skinner knocked a marker out of the student's hand and attempted to grab another marker from him. Officials say he then grabbed the student, lifted him from his chair and struck him in the chest with both hands. Skinner then threw the student onto a table, into desks and finally to the ground, where he put his knee on the boy's chest and his hands on the boy's torso and neck.

And none of the students thought that was unusual behavior.
Need Paul Harvey to tell us the rest of the story
It wasn’t a cop. It was a cop in training.
Charles Oliver always leaves out details.
"Skinner threw a deflated dodgeball, a bottle of lotion, and a water bottle at the student, hitting him with all three."
I need this guy on my dodgeball team.
This cheater? #delfategate
Gotta respect the disciples of the Patches O'Houlihan School of dodgeball.
If you can dodge a bullet, you can dodge a ball.
The timing and inclusion of on-hand items really makes it a sort of O'Houlihan/Cato hybrid school. Truly, this innovative officer is the Bruce Lee of dodgeball.
What color was everyone’s skin?
I think you know.
Black and blue.
Black officer, I wouldn't swear to the race of the student.
With a name like Eligah, officer friendly was probably not Levantine.
The sword is mightier than the pen. The deflated dodgeball is too apparently.
We conditioning kids to be so afraid of righteous violence, they allow this to happen. Where were the 3-5 boys grabbing chairs/desks and pummeling this POS to death?
"Where were the 3-5 boys grabbing chairs/desks and pummeling this POS to death?"
Cowering in their safe space as indoctrinated.
"Violence never solves anything".
(I loved Lou Grant's response to Mary about that quote: "Mary, violence, pure violence, settles all football games, most boxing matches, and at least three marriages I know of.")
They were recording for TikTok so they can get their 15 seconds of fame.
Off duty, probably armed.
Don’t want to be treated like a thug, don’t write on a whiteboard like a thug.
???
I mean, WTF was that all about? What had gone on between these two? What kind of pussy stands back and flings 3 objects separately before moving in for the kill? Who carries around a dodgeball? Who's in position to write on a whiteboard from a chair? Where was the teacher? What kind of threat is writing on a whiteboard supposed to be? Does this guy go around looking in at classrooms for students writing on the board? What kind of other crazy stuff was this guy stripped of his police equipment for, yet considered "active"?
It's the most bizarre story I can recall reading here in a long time.
Go get more details and report back please!
1. Small nit-pick. It's Proviso West HS. Not West Proviso.
2. It's not clear in any of the reporting...where the hell was the actual teacher? This apparently happened in a classroom. Why was the teacher out of the classroom? for how long?
3. Why was the resource officer randomly patrolling the hallways and entering classrooms and barking orders at students. That's not their role/job. Assuming the teacher had to step out, lots of teachers will have the kids work on something (either at the board or at their desks) to keep them occupied. This dude had no business going in there and ordering these kids around. What authority does a school resource office have in the classroom ?
4. Dude seems like a psychopath. Even if the student didn't have permission to write on a white board (which he did), physically attacking a student (or anybody really) over it is fucking nuts. How can any sane person believe that the appropriate response to someone writing on a dry erase board without permission is to tackle and assault and choke the person?
3. Cops literally do whatever they want because nobody will stop them. They are the ultimate authority in the school because they can and will use violence on anyone who doesn't immediately obey.
4. The job of a police officer is to make people obey, and their only tool is violence. Cops are supposed to fuck up anyone who doesn't immediately obey. Doesn't matter if it's a child or an old lady. If they don't obey they're gonna get hurt or killed.
So duh the dude's a psychopath. If he wasn't he'd have been screened out during the psych eval.
I'm not sure the teacher was out of the classroom, the video I saw doesn't show the beginning of the encounter, but it does start with the teacher standing right next to the student and the guard
Not an SRO. Off duty, working as a security guard.
Why do conservatives and conservatarians keep defending cops?
That's easy. Evil progressives talk about police reform and reigning in bad cops, and they're wrong about literally everything. So conservatives have no choice but to oppose any and all efforts to clean up police departments.
Do Ashli Babbitt.
Given the choice between the gang that comes into the classroom and assaults one person with a dodgeball and the gang that burns down your local police department, gas station, furniture store, church nursery, and loots the department store, the choice seems pretty obvious. Especially if 'no gangs' is not an option.
The Antifa bitch shot by a glorious Blue hero?
What about her?
there's no youtube for the Wild Wild Skinner theme song with him on the horse in the western getup but it would be perfect here.
