Brickbat: Well, Bye

|

Sheffield Lake, Ohio, police chief Anthony Campo has retired after he was caught on video placing a piece of paper reading "Ku Klux Klan" on a desk in the department's booking room. Video shows Campo place a yellow police raincoat on the desk with the hood displayed. He then placed the paper over the word "police" on the raincoat. As he walks out of the room, a black police officer comes in and Campo points the coat out to him. That officer then reads the note and appears to discuss it with other officers. Mayor Dennis Bring said he at first was going to fire Campo after he found out about the incident but allowed him to retire. Campo told a local TV station the note "was just a joke that got out of hand."

  1. Everybody can earn 500 dollars Daily… Yes! you can earn more than you think by working online from home. I have been doing this job for like a few weeks and my last week payment was exactly 25370 dollars.

    1. Making money online more than 15OOO$ just by doing simple work from home. I have received $18376 last month. Its an easy and simple job to do and D its DASSA earnings are much better than regular office job and even a little child can do this and earns money. Everybody must try this job by just use the info

  2. It must be gratifying to finally find a racial incident that wasn’t a hoax perpetrated by a minority after 15 years of trying.

    1. if thats all it takes to get retirement more will do the same

  3. A police chief knows where the cameras are, so it’s obvious that this wasn’t done to be cruel or harass.

A dumb joke, clearly the rookie knew immediately who did it and a laugh was had by all.

Still, very poor judgment by a guy in charge of maintaining a sense of professionalism in the workplace.

Deserved to lose his job. Chiefs need better judgment.

    1. He was only asked to retire/resign because calling the police the KKK is the job of the mayor/governor as we’ve seen demonstrated by Democrats across the country this last year.

    2. I don’t know about your conclusion. Deserved to be yelled at, maybe. Losing the job of police chief is a really big deal, and an off-color prank that harmed no one doesn’t seem worthwhile.

If it was part of a pattern that had resulted in complaints to HR, and this was the last straw, I can see forced retirement being on the table.

    3. A police chief knows where the cameras are, so it’s obvious that this wasn’t done to be cruel or harass.

You know, you’d think – but you’d be surprised how stupid people in the upper echelons of any organization are.

Like, even without the camera, you’d think that you’d have to be *really* really good friends with a black guy before you did a ‘joke’ like this. And if you were that good of a friend you wouldn’t do this.

      1. That’s why I suspect that it is the straw that broke the camel’s back

  4. But if Michael Scott did this at Dunder-Mifflin we’d all have a big, uncomfortable laugh.

    1. There are many things that would be funny if they were fictional that are appalling in real life.

Think about if a Three Stooges skit occurred in reality? Assault with a deadly weapon and grievous bodily harm all around.

      1. There are many things that would be funny if they were fictional that are appalling in real life.

There are many things in fiction that are funny or endearing that are actually appalling but well narrated.

    2. Wouldn’t be a shock since it was NBC. Recall 30 Rock doing a blackface gag. And SNL firing Norm Macdonald for making jokes about OJ being a murderer.

  5. More compelling Journalism. This is what happened in Chicago last weekend and it was no joke. Not a single white supremacist shot anyone. Not a single cop shot anyone. Two cops were shot.

    1. Da Trooff Hurts, Reason.

    2. My professors told me that violence in Democrat-controlled cities is ultimately the fault of Republicans. In the case of Chicago, the real problem is insufficiently tough gun safety laws in neighboring red states.

      #LibertariansForGunSense

      1. DC would be a woketopia if Virginia would just ban guns.

      1. Somebody gonna assassinate Lightfoot?

        1. No, just the cops that are surrounding her at all time.

    3. surely this is somehow the fault of someone’s politics and not an inherent part of life in, say, downtrodden areas amirite

    4. Not a single cop shot anyone.

      These lives didn’t matter.

      1. Well, at least those deaths did not advance somebody’s narrative.

  6. Had the police chief placed a paper on the desk with the words “Black Lives Matter” or “Defund the Police”, he would have been applauded by the left wing media (er propaganda) outlets and Democrats as a social justice warrior.

  7. Had Democrat President Woodrow Wilson NOT applauded and showed the first airing of DW Griffith’s Birth of a Nation (which introduced Americans to the KKK, praised their racist violence, and moblized thousands of KKK chapters throughout the nation), segregation and racism would have declined many decades sooner.

The Democrat Party championed the KKK (just as they’ve praised and championed racist Black Lives Matter thugs for the past year).

Seems like the left wing media outlets (including Reason) and Democrats want Americans to forget that Joe Biden eulogized former KKK Grand Wizard Robert Byrd, something only a racist could/would do.

    1. Iirc Byrd was an Exalted Cyclops. Not a Grand Wizard.

      1. And I was a level 18 half-orc ranger.
I don’t really care what fantasy creature they named themselves after.

    2. Democrats: the party of superior white people who know what’s good for the blacks, since 1860.

    3. This looks like a good spot to link this (yes, that is Merv Griffin, and John Denver)

      Your Friendly Liberal Neighborhood KKK

    4. The original KKK was founded in 1865 by Confederate veterans.

That organization was defunct before the turn of the century.

A new KKK was founded in 1915, but that organization shared very little beyond a name with the original.

  8. Running down that one Klan mention versus the rampant anti-White hate we see 24/7/365 in every American institution.

thanks for speaking truth to power, Reason. :/

    1. This is why reason is such garbage.

  9. Campo told a local TV station the note “was just a joke that got out of hand.”

Campo should know that in 21st century America, nothing is funny.

    1. I wonder what CRT has to say about “jokes,” specifically white people jokes. I’m pretty sure they’re all white supremacy, along with everything else.

  10. Campo told a local TV station the note “was just a joke that got out of hand.”

Out of hand? This was actually all well in hand. When you shoot everyone who witnessed the joke, confiscate the evidence, destroy the video footage, and take a paid vacation while the Union figures out how to keep you in your job, then things are “out of hand”.

  11. Hi, if you are thinking about starting a new business. Then first make cannabusiness plans for it. When I start a new business. I also make business plans before it and now I am successfully running 4 new businesses.
