Delray Beach, Florida, police have charged Alexander Jerich, 20, with criminal mischief over $1,000, and reckless driving with felony enhancement for evidence of prejudice. Jerich reportedly did a deliberate burnout over a LGBT pride mural painted in the crosswalk of a city street.

The authorities should use more lube if they want to prevent skid marks.
That would mean longer skid marks, followed by crashing into buildings.
Joke aside, arresting someone should be limited to actions that cause more harm than the feelings of a bunch of sissies.
Yup. He should use 1A defense and point to burning of American flag cases.
I was thinking the same thing. This would seem to be every bit as much protected speech as painting the mural on the public street was.
Burn out lines matter!
So we've went from 'hate' crime to 'prejudice' crime? Good thing it wasn't a' Saint' George painting. There'd be riot in the streets.
Odd that if somebody graffitis the side of a building, that's art but if somebody adds skid marks to a crosswalk mural, that's a crime. I guess officially-approved messages are sacrosanct and contrary messages are verboten.
Some art is more equal than others.
If the government is going to create artwork it considers sacred, maybe putting it in the street is not the best location.
At least we know that there are some controversial monuments that the Left will want to see defended by legal force.
Leaning into the drama queen stereotype is more damaging to the brand than burnt rubber.
If you don't want tire marks on your flag painting, keep your flag painting off the streets. It is pretty simple. I have a burnout rule for any and all flags and murals.
It's not only speech that's violence now but any form of expression counter to the approved orthodoxy.
If this mural had been painted on property belong to a cis, straight white male with religious objections to the left movement would these prejudice enchantments still be applied? If not then wouldn't that violate the concepts of equal protection?
The creators of the Gadsden Flag had this very specific type of thing in mind. The instructions on the flag couldn't be any clearer.
Not sure it’s is going to get much traction.
He defaced a religious icon of the state faith, obviously an infidel. At least Reconquista Spain had the good sense not to carve their sacred symbols into the street where carthorses might poop on them.
America is now officially worse than the Inquisition.
Arrested for not being a loyal slave of the republic.
If it had happened in SF or Seattle, they probably would have found something a lot less pleasant than tire marks.
This article sound like three years ago in this area.

Sounds like his free speech over their free speech is unacceptable. If burning a real flag is speech burning a patch over a LGBTQ flag would likewise be protected speech. Strange. Now hurt feeling crimes matter.
Left out of this article is the fact that the alphabet community is guilty of cultural appropriation against Judeo-Christian faiths by literally taking the rainbow out of the sky.
Genesis 9:12-17
12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between Me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all future generations: 13 I have placed My bow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 14 Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember My covenant between Me and you and all the living creatures:[b] water will never again become a flood to destroy every creature. 16 The bow will be in the clouds, and I will look at it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all the living creatures[c] on earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have confirmed between Me and every creature on earth.”
By this standard, everything humans use is "cultural appropriation" against JHVH-1. After all, it's JHVH-1's world; we just live in it.
Roads are for transportation and commerce, not for anyone's expression.
That said, if the skidmarks are aimed out of town, I say wish him good riddance and let that be it.
Shit like this is why I cannot behind "Support the Blue" movements.
The cops are the damned muscle behind the state's over-riding of your rights.
It's been fun to watch the left abandon its principles on flag-burning.
If you buy a flag (or a Quran, or Nike shoes, or Beatles albums,or whatever else) and burn the thing you own, that's not vandalism. That's destroying the thing you own.
This is him defacing a thing he didn't own. Other that message, it's no different from protestors destroying confederate statues. Vandalism is vandalism.
The person who should be arrested is the one who got paid $16,000 for that.
