Brickbat: Gunning for a Ban

The Canadian parliament is expected to pass a bill that would allow cities to ban handguns. The bill would also make it easier to revoke gun licenses and make it easier for friends and family members to have police remove someone's guns. "We are not targeting law-abiding citizens who own guns to go hunting or for sport shooting," said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. "The measures we're proposing are concrete and practical. And they have one goal and one goal only: protecting you, your family and your community."

If you ban guns only criminals and government will have guns. Alas I repeat myself.

"Laws which give cities option to totally ban firearms"
False statement.
It is totally ban guns for private citizens only !!
Imagine if murder and theft worked the same way - one rule for private citizens and another for those employed by the state - particularly the police and the military
Yes, what's he going to do to the next Mountie who shoots someone.
Call Snidely Whiplash?
“One Canadian killed by gun violence is one too many.” But beaten to death or strangled, no problem.
Do these bastards ever listen to themselves.
That’s already how murder and theft work.
I think you mean "justified use of force" and "civil asset forfeiture" Its only called murder and theft when someone other than the government does it
"Imagine if murder and theft worked the same way – one rule for private citizens and another for those employed by the state"
They already do.
Of course, when we ban hunting and sport shooting, these will no longer be law-abiding citizens and therefore fair targets for state firepower.

Robberies, break-ins and assaults in the Canadian gun ban cities are expected to _______ after the legislation takes effect.
be used as an excuse for additional laws that reduce liberty for the sake of safety...
They'll go up, but that's only because the States refuse to enact common-sense gun control, so that firearms can be smuggled across the border.

And they have one goal and one goal only: protecting you, your family and your community.
Nobody could possibly be so stupid as to believe that taking the means to protect yourself, your family and your community away from law-abiding citizens while criminals retain the means to assault law-abiding citizens with those same weapons is going to work to keep citizens safer, so I have to conclude that Trudeau is on the side of the criminals.
Well, they gotta "do something" and those dastardly criminals just won't get with the program; so if you want people to obey you law, you naturally target law abiding citizens. Otherwise you just look like an impotent fool.
Of course Trudeau looks like an impotent fool to begin with.
No one could be a complete idiot and not look at other countries and the startling difference in gun deaths eh?
I once explored starting a bottled water company in Province de Quebec. Was going to name it Eau Canada.
Thats a pretty good idea, whether youre in quebec or not. Just get some canadian tap water and throw it in a bottle, thats how most them do it.
"Mr Trudeau said in a statement on Tuesday: “One Canadian killed by gun violence is one too many."
So the next time someone is kicked to death in Canada, it's foot amputations for everyone, right?

Next we will hear that Canadians can keep certain writing and communication devices that they use for entertainment, but will have to surrender devices that could be used to criticize their government.
"...by taking away your ability to protect yourselves. Learn to stop worrying and love the State. Or else."
Well, used handguns are going to get a lot cheaper in my neck of the woods.
""We are not targeting law-abiding citizens who own guns to go hunting or for sport shooting," said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau"
Lol, the hell you're not, Zoolander.
"We are not targeting law-abiding citizens who own guns to go hunting or for sport shooting, we are targeting law-abiding citizens who keep handguns locked away for edification purposes as well as those who use them for self-defense."
It's funny that people who can't be trusted with a tool to put precisely placed 9mm holes in specific targets are trusted with tools that blast outward at everyone in all directions.
Rules for legislative safety:
1. Always treat every piece of legislation as if it's loaded.
2. Be certain of your legislation and what's behind it.
3. Always keep the muzzle of your legislation pointed at non-targets or in a safe direction, such as pointed at the government.
4. To prevent accidental discharge, keep your finger off the legislation.
5. Safeties can fail, never rely on checks and balances to prevent an accidental discharge.
I like it.
“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”
― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn , The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956
I've thought about that passage, and liking the sound of it, I wonder how it would have actually played out. If an apartment block had acted in their own defense, it would have been destroyed and deemed a nest of saboteurs. If it were an entire city I do not doubt Stalin, with several divisions of internal troops at his disposal, would have leveled the entire thing and put all of its residents to the sword rather than relent any degree of control. And Beria would have been there to rape their daughters. I think such resistance would have had to have been exponential and organized against that regime if it were to have any success.
In the US, as government continues to widen it's web and daily acts of intrusion, we will at some point find it necessary to resist, if we value any meaning of liberty. Will just not going along be enough, and result in enclaves of liberty? Or will the US government send troops against its own citizens [as they did in 1861]?
I'm thinking it's more about people *everywhere* taking out an agent along the way to or from a place, than one particular apartment block acting.
But you're right that it would have to be very widespread.
What a hoser. I doubt I can stop a break in with a pipe bomb.
These national governments are treasonous and murderous.

The Nazis are here and they wear badges. The SS wear badges and call themselves Feds.
The time for talk is rapidly coming to a close.
This one right here FBI.
Don't worry, I'm sure they sent an email to the Chief of Police and left a message on the DNC's answering machine. You can rest assured that after he's slaughtered 40 people at a night club they'll make up a narrative about how he was homophobic and prosecute his retarded wife to the fullest extent of the law. If you're lucky, they'll shoot his wife dead with a baby in her arms and then claim ignorance when someone finds their actions reprehensible and blows up a federal building.
Preet can't help you, shitlunches.
"We are not targeting law-abiding citizens who own guns to go hunting or for sport shooting,"
Apparently defending one's self is not an acceptable reason for using a firearm.
Nor keeping family heirlooms, collecting pieces of military history, being generally prepared, owning a gun as a message, holding someone else's property as a favor, teaching your children or others about any of the above...
Why would Canada need such a law? The way I hear it, Canadians don't shoot each other all the time like those crazy American gun nuts. So what problem are they looking to solve?
Liberty.
"The measures we're proposing are concrete and practical. And they have one goal and one goal only: protecting you, your family and your community."
----Justin Trudeau
Who's protecting their rights from Justin Trudeau?
Ideally it would be Bob Probert. But I think he passed.
Knee meet jerk. To say this is in response to the 2020 Nova Scotia shootings is about as fallacious as it gets. The shooter had five firearms that were already illegal for him to possess including the one he took from the cop he killed which was the only one legally in the country.
No matter, I'm sure this change will prevent guns from being smuggled into Canada ever again. Either that or it will have no impact whatsoever on the availability of illegal guns in Canada.
