Jeopardy!
The show enjoyed decades of cultural relevance, in large part due to its host.
On November 8, 2020, Jeopardy!'s legions of fans received the devastating news that beloved quizmaster Alex Trebek had passed away after announcing a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer two years earlier. The 80-year-old hosted Jeopardy! for 37 seasons.
The show had recently begun airing new episodes again, after halting production from March to August due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Jeopardy's current stock of pre-taped episodes—enough of them to last until Christmas—will constitute Trebek's final appearances. These episodes include some social distancing (contestants' podiums are farther apart) but are otherwise comfortingly the same as always.
Indeed, Jeopardy! has changed very little since Trebek took over for Art Fleming in 1984. The show enjoyed decades of cultural relevance, in large part due to its host. A consummate professional, Trebek made sure that Jeopardy! was a serious but accessible intellectual contest—one that rewards players for familiarity with pop culture but also demands knowledge of literature, classical music, and geography.
Under his stewardship, the show mercifully avoided the relentless politicization that has wormed its way into so many facets of modern entertainment. Jeopardy! is something that Trump-loving grandparents and liberal Gen Zers can enjoy together with nary a feud. Whoever takes over for Trebek should endeavor to keep it that way.

Final Jeopardy Category: American Politics
Answer: Billionaire Charles Koch funds organizations like Reason and Cato with the goal of promoting this policy.

Home Profit System
Or neo feudalism
Aka global socialism
What are questions you will never see on Jeparody?
Answer: A Soros-funded leftist whose current sole purpose in life is to discourage and refute any attempts to investigate potential voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
Question: Who is Jacob Sullum?
I love Jeopardy! They better not let that Mormon piece of shit Ken Jennings be involved now that Trebek is gone.
Proof that knowing random trivia doesn’t equal intelligence. Anyone who believes the nonsense Mormons believe is fucking stupid. Jennings is fucking stupid.
Ah, we couldn’t start the New Year off without the kind of comment that is ruining things on this site.
Your mom’s ruining this site!
Check mate!
I see that making “clever” 7th grade retorts is one of your New Year’s resolutions.
Kinda think KAR is a parody or even a parody of a parody.
It’s either a metaparody of Sqrlsy, or it is Sqrlsy.
Why does telling the truth about Mormons and inbreds make me a parody?
The real evidence of this is that you posted before noon on New Years day.
If Killallrednecks were real he would be sleeping off a hangover.
I wonder how seriously he believes it. I’ll bet plenty of people who identify as Roman Catholics don’t really believe in the Virgin Birth, for example. Or transubstantiation. Ken Jennings will make a fine host for Jeopardy. (He won’t match Alex Trebek, but no one could. P.S. I still say the judges should have accepted “What is a ho(e)?”)
Mormons are pretty goddamn stubborn with their beliefs. They’re just stubborn period.
Fuck em! Would the world be a better place if they were gone?
Yes!
Now do the Jews.
Why would I do jews? They don’t bother anyone.
Fuck off you Mormon loving anti-semite!
Not that I’m anti-Jewish, but they do bother the Palestinians.
By your backwards logic, being stubborn means you must be a Mormon.
No. People can be stubborn and not Mormon.
Why do so many of the inbred hicks on here defend the Mormons!
Fuck Mormons and fuck their enablers!
By protesting so much too much, you arouse sympathy for Mormons, and are therefore an enabler.
Actually he’s a hardcore lefty whose social media is full of Trump bashing and SJW posturing. About half of the country is already set to boycott the show if he gets the job.
So I guess he’s part of the 10% of mormons who aren’t far right kooks. Still believes a bunch of bullshit.
Who cares if the far right inbreds watch Jeopardy? They’re too goddamn stupid to get any answers right.
I was trying to help you out here and you went after my peeps. The far right inbred non Mormons. Geez.
So it’s not kill all Mormons, just kill all of the ones you disagree with. No worries, I also think everyone I don’t like should be killed too
Actually he’s a hardcore lefty
This. I think that the producers are looking for the opposite of Trebek.
Ken Jennings was probably raised Mormon or something once upon a time, but was converted to Progadarianism or Wokianity years ago.
Trebek was good, but you could replace the Jeopardy host with a computer and the show would still work. In fact they just did.
Nah. Jennings is a known douche nozzle troll.
Yes knowledge and intelligence aren’t the same thing.
…or Wisdom.
Sometimes wisdom and intellect seem inversely correlated. Look at Einstein or Hawking’s personal lives outside of academia.
Died in Feb. He was the first famous person to die of the Wuhan virus
Who?
Starting 2021 with hatred of Canadians.
Oh, oh, pick me!
I know this one… he hates Hindus and Presbyterians too…
Huh. All I asked is who he is taking about in his comment.
He cannot be talking about Trebek, who died in November.
Who is someone I never heard of in China or Iran, such as Mohammad Ali Ramazani Dastak.
Alex died in November. This is from the upcoming February 2021 issue.
I remember Art Fleming, too. Very dignified and likeable. The show did great under both its host. Simply a well-conceived show that rewarded intelligence.
I nominate Stossel.
Levar Burton
Noam Chomsky.
Nah, Chomsky is a discredited #TrumpRussia denialist.
Who is the worst writer of the 20th century?
What are we doing.
Jacob Sullum?
That’s who I want them to choose.
Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek
Long long ago when I was in high school, I sent Alex Trebek a graduation invitation. Much to my surprise, he sent back an autographed picture wishing me similar success at college.
Stand-up guy until the end.
Rest in power, Mr. Trebek.
I loved this show. From the first episode I ever watched I answered every single question correctly (including all final jeopardy answers), except for on two occasions when a supposed ‘friend’ rudely talked over the question so I wasn’t able to hear or answer in time. Needless today say, that individual is no longer considered an acquaintance.
This show gave high certified geniuses like myself an outlet to test our abilities and feel like certified rockstars about the innate talents we were born with, and for that I am eternally grateful to you, Mr. Trebek. Thanks for making it ‘cool’ to be a genius.
You should go on the show. Sounds like you’d do great.
Thank you, I would definitely dominate.
I’ll have to pass as I’ve already answered all the questions correctly, so there’s really no point anymore for me. I had thought about it in the past but decided that it wouldn’t be fair considering my massive advantage against the other players. It would be like asking the deformed guy from the Goonies to play chess against Gary Kasparov. While entertaining to some, ethically it would be downright irresponsible.
the deformed guy from the Goonies
Corey Feldman?
If heaven were actually real, I think god would have a special place for you right beside him, even though you had all the answers on a card and by all accounts weren’t all that smart yourself. If I had been the host, they could’ve just given me the cards without the answers, but unfortunately they gave the job to Alex and not me. I’m not saying I’m bitter, but I always think about how much better Jeopardy would have been if I was the host.
Good on you. Of course it’s well known that all geniuses are impotent. But I guess it’s worth the sacrifice if you can answer questions on a TV show.
Thank you, and yes I am celibate by choice. Haven’t had a ‘release’ in over 7 years now.
…And assuredly won’t.

Question: Who is Virginia Postrel?
Happy New Year, Reason!
Although I’ve watched and loved Jeopardy since the 1960s when it was hosted by Art Fleming, my respect for Alex Trebek plummeted two years ago when he hosted a gubernatorial debate between incumbent PA Gov. Tom Wolf and his GOP challenger Scott Wagner.
About one third of the way through the debate, Trebek made an outrageous comment stating that the environment was the most important issue facing PA voters (which was false, except for those who rely upon the natural gas fracking), and then stated that all PA voters should oppose natural gas fracking (if they care about the environment).
Then Trebek proceeded to ask the Wolf and Wagner about their policies on natural gas fracking and the environment. Since Wagner strongly supported natural gas fracking, while Wolf tried to ban, excessively regulate and tax natural gas fracking, Trebek’s outrageous comment was a strong endorsement of Wolf for governor.
After Wolf won reelection, he subsequently imposed a two week unscientific and economically disastrous lockdown for four months, mandated masks and then reimposed lockdowns for restaurants, gyms, thousands of other businesses, and gatherings.
And of course, Tom Wolf (in collaboration/conspiracy with Democrat Governors from many other states) aggressively lobbied the GOP controlled PA General Assembly to greatly expand mail in ballots for the June 3 primary and the November general election, and then Wolf ordered his PA Sec. of State to change the election rules even further to allow mail in ballots without signatures, without post marks, without the outside envelope, and for five days after the election.
Of course, Wolf and other Democrats greatly exaggerated the risks of covid in order to generate public support for greatly expanding mail in ballots (which made it possible for Biden to win the official vote count in PA).

Robby Soave should learn to do his homework. Republicans complained after Trebek moderated a gubernatorial debate a couple of years ago because Trebek wasn’t enough of a wingnut for the clingers’ taste.
Life on the wrong side of history and on the losing side of the culture war is going to be difficult for a relatively young clinger, Robby. If you don’t learn to handle it better you may sustain severe risk of suicide or mental breakdown.

Sermon delivered by true bleever in the church of our government, and an assholish bigot besides.
Fuck off and die.
Rev. A. L. Kirkland: Alex Trebek, Tom Wolf, and Scott Wagner.
Robbie Soave: Who are three people who’ve never been in my kitchen?
BTW, never saw the show. Can someone please explain the ‘cultural relevance’ of a game show; my imagination doesn’t go that far.

“The show enjoyed decades of cultural relevance, in large part due to its host.”
The show did inspire Weird Al’s song “I Lost on Jeopardy“
The next host must be a non-binary, trans-gender person of minority with no ears or else Jeopardy! will be in actual jeopardy of being racist and a game show for white privileged toxic humans.
Oh. And my suggestion to take over?
Norm MacDonald.
Norm MacDonald.
The judges would’ve also accepted ‘Dennis Miller’.
Something has gone way south with comments here.
