Brickbat: I'll Move When I'm Ready

A Pittsburgh, Penn., parking enforcement officer has been suspended without pay after she was caught on video blocking a street with her vehicle and refusing to move for an ambulance with its lights and siren on. Parking Authority Executive Director Dave Onorato says enforcement officers are not supposed to block streets at all but pull over to a "safe area." He says the agency is investigating the matter.

The actual ambulance ride or the whole time you spent in the ER and hospital "for observation"?

The ambulance ride, probably. The rigs are expensive, and you're not paying for just the ride, you're paying for EMTs to sit in one at all hours waiting around just in case someone needs a ride. Usually multiple rigs, all over town, to cut down on the arrival times.

It's not a service you want to have to wait a long time to arrive.

How much in taxes are collected from the person in the back of the ambulance? Is that person likely to die thereby ending the tax revenue? Does the person in the back have their estate properly planned or will the guvment get to steal large sums when it's probated? Parking enforcement is a tough job.
