Brickbat: Giving Them Grief

A spokesman for the Milton Keynes town council in England has apologized after a staff member of the Crownhill Crematorium reprimanded a man who moved his socially distanced chair to comfort his mother during a funeral service for his father. The council operates the crematorium. "We are sorry to have upset this family," the spokesman said. "We don't usually step in if a guest needs to be comforted by another family member and in this instance should have taken a more considered approach."

I hate the term 'social distance'. There's nothing social about it and I'm tired of hearing it over and over. Along with' we're in this together' .
It's anti-social distancing. At least that is what it was called before the 'rona.
In scientific papers of the 1900s and early 2000s, it was simply called distancing. Occasionally physical distancing.
This “social” bullshit is something added by the communist-inspired mass media in the SARS era. Our dearest leaders, modeling their pandemic response on the most ineffective and oppressive communist-inspired models, copied this term, as well.
'ELLO WHAT'S ALL THIS THEN
What do you expect from a county that has a dish called spotted dick.
Easy to rag on the English, but the same shit can and does happen here. This entire philosophy on lockdowns and distancing is backwards. STOP caring so much what others do. Focus on protecting yourself. Wear a raincoat if it makes you feel better.
Again, I wonder how the Londoners and other Brits who endured the Blitz and other hardships would consider their descendants. And if they might have decided to get sterilized.
It's just do-gooderism proceeding to it's logical conclusion. "Well, if you can do that, shouldn't we do this too [or do you 'just not care about children etc.']?"
Logical conclusion would involve cyanide for the elderly, to rapidly get over the virus without burdening healthcare for the rest.
Logical conclusion would be dropping bombs in major cities to reduce population density and disease transmission.
Logical conclusion would be simply opening up society, end all precautions for anyone under 82, the average age of coronavirus death.
Logical conclusion, not always nice or kind or even humane.
Um, https://fullfact.org/online/deaths-coronavirus-blitz/
Irrelevant. It ignores other effects of the Blitz, which are nonexistent with COVID. Also it ignores the demographic difference in the victims of both.
Anybody else find it weird that they film these crematory services? That is a dreadful invasion of privacy at a very vulnerable time. It is not something anyone wants recorded for posterity.
Even worse, they replaced the traditional funeral dirge with Disco Inferno.
Could be worse.
I worked with a woman who wanted her wedding recessional to be "another one bites the dust". For some obscure reason, the Priest disagreed.
It’s to share with family and friends who could not attend in person. They knew they’re on camera.

like everything ever done, nobody is ever satisfied until it is taken to an extreme that is utterly absurd....... happens a lot faster when the government is involved.
Look at this English major. The bots aren't even trying now.
It's an IQ test. If you are too smart to be fooled by bad English, dubious claims, and random links, then they don't want to waste time trying to convince you to give them your money.
If, on the other hand, you don't see anything wrong with that, you're exactly the kind of person they want to talk to.
That's how the whole internet works these days, so remember that when you see click-bait headlines. They're fishing for stupid, so don't bite.
Get used to it. Bad grammar is anti-racist, and will soon be required in all public communications.
Engrish should be encouraged, like Ebonics.
Ebonics? Never learned it. I still remember a bit of Jive from high school.
Phishing for stupid. You make good point Joe.
