GOP Hawks Are Turning Out for Biden
Exiled from the Republican Party, some Bush-era Republicans are now backing Joe Biden. Colin Powell endorsed him on Tuesday night.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell was the surprise Republican who popped up at Tuesday night's edition of the Democratic National Convention, where he delivered a blistering assessment of President Donald Trump's foreign policy and endorsed Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
"With Joe Biden in the White House, you will never doubt that he will stand with our friends and stand up to our adversaries," Powell said. "He will restore America's leadership in the world and restore the alliances we need to address the dangers that threaten our nation."
As if the message wasn't clear enough, the DNC followed up with a short video retrospective about the cross-aisle friendship between Biden and the late Republican Sen. John McCain.
It's not all that surprising that some George W. Bush-era Republicans have crossed over to Biden's side this time around: Trump's victory in the 2016 Republican primary was a repudiation of the Bush era of Republican politics—a time when Powell and McCain were key players in national politics—and the ill-advised, intractable wars that were launched during it. The Trump era has caused many problems for the Republican Party and for America as a whole, but one of the few good things to come of the last four years has been the exile of the neoconservatives to the political wilderness.
And yet, Trump's victory over the architects of America's early 2000s foreign policy disasters seems hollow. He largely failed to follow through on the mandate he was handed by the voters who chose him over his more interventionist opponents in both the Republican primary and the general election.
It's true that Trump hasn't launched any new wars. But the number of drone strikes conducted by the U.S. military has risen under his watch. He sent more troops into Afghanistan and is only now drawing those levels back down to where they were when he took office. In a memorable interview with Axios's Jonathan Swan a few weeks ago, Trump could offer few specifics about when he would finish off a long-planned withdrawal from America's longest war. When pressed to say how many troops would remain in Afghanistan on Election Day, Trump said "probably anywhere from four [thousand] to 5,000."
Instead of bringing the troops home, he's merely shuffled them around the Middle East with little apparent purpose other than occasionally suggesting that America ought to seize the region's oil supply.
Trump's fans say he has reoriented huge amounts of America's foreign policy, but how much of that is beneficial or lasting? Yes, Trump has picked some silly fights with European leaders and nudged them to contribute a larger share toward NATO.
But everywhere else, Trump has squandered this opportunity. His confrontation with China has imposed millions of dollars of new taxes on American consumers and businesses, failed to produce meaningful changes in U.S.-China trade policy, and potentially set the world's two biggest economies on course for a new cold war. Surely there must be a more skillful—or at least a less economically damaging way—to oppose China's illiberal behavior at home and abroad. If only Trump hadn't alienated the very allies that might make a different approach possible.
Anyone who wants to see America take a less militant approach to the world's problems shouldn't be cheering for neocons to build a new nest within the Democratic Party. And the fact that Trump, who has at times seemed legitimately appalled by some of the horrors of war, wasted four years by failing to undo the mistakes Powell and his friends made is a tragedy.

These people think every problem in the world needs the U.S to help solve it. They want to 'protect' rich countries while they ,Europe, Japan, South Korea, spend the money saved on social programs. This is 'the best and brightest' America.
Something got cut off there bud.

What does it matter if they want protect this or that, it's a matter how much they spend on the military and no one has ever demanded and spent more than Trump. You people are fucking idiots.
We are playing the game where we pretend the house and senate aren't involved in purses now? The one where the House is demanding over 3 trillion, 2.5 trillion as a start point? Okay then.
In the particular case of military spending, it's fair to criticize Trump just as much as congress (if you think it warrant's criticism). It's a campaign promise and something he has been pretty consistent about.
I simply don't think Military is the driver of our debt. Baseline budgeting is the number one offender. 5 years without baseline budgets and we would balance in essence.
The military, for all its faults is also the easiest program in the country to cut. Military deployments cost a lot. If a deployment stops, slows down, then the costs of that can be cut from the budget. A bizarre, super modern weapon system designed to fight the Soviet Union sometimes comes off as odd to the American public, and is never supported by the press.
But the entitlement state is nearly impossible to cut.
The military is the driving force of America. We all pretend that we could go without it, but it’s our biggest indirect employer. It’s the reason we still have what we have. So, if everyone could stfu for a minute and let the neocons find a real enemy, perhaps we can go back to the good old days of
It would also be fair to say that Colin Powell has never been a Republican in except for the fact that he got his quid pro quo appointment to Secretary of State in exchange for his support for Bush, and then blew his future presidency on Iraq.
Since then he has backed Obama over both McCain and Romney [not that either was much of a Republican either] and Hillary Clinton. But he's a Republican? How's that? So to pretend that Powell is the quintessential Republican is not supported by anything more than legend.
That aside, Trump made a lot of enemies of other candidates when running against them because he humiliated them both verbally and at the polls. Trotting out the failures of dead-McCain, Meg Whitman, and John Wuzzizname as Republicans is a farce. They were/are sore losers and little more than Democrat lite on the flip side of the double-faced coin. Sorry, but I don't see these chumps as having any more value than if Republicans got Tulsi Gabbard to come speak.

Fuck off Tony.
Amusing comment considering that Trump has "sort of" broken the three-decade pattern of military invasions, destruction of countries, hundreds of thousands of deaths, and the creation of a million war refugees from the Bush/Clinton/Obama years. Especially Bush and especially Obama, who out-murdered Bush.
Now, Trump is problematic in his own way, but a little perspective.....every time Trump mentions bringing troops home he is met with howls from neo-cons and neo-progressives alike.
I think it's great that Trump hasn't continued the pattern of his predecessors in starting new wars and foreign adventures. But a little bit of reduction in military spending to go with it would be nice. But military spending is a good way to buy votes, so it's a tough sell.
I quit working at shoprite and now I make $65-85 per/h. How? I’m working online! My work didn’t exactly make me happy so I decided to take a chance on something new…UJh after 4 years it was so hard to quit my day job but now I couldn’t be happier.

every time Trump mentions bringing troops home he is met with howls from neo-cons and neo-progressives alike.
AKA Democrats.
Now look at FDR's military spending between 1942 and 1945, and adjust for inflation.
But weren't we fighting Trumpian Nazis during that time?
Another angle to consider is that neo-progressives have united with neo-cons with the intention of staging Global Lithium Wars and interventions --- since Oil Wars are yesterday's news --- to "secure" rare-earth elements for Tesla and Volt batteries and "save" the planet (and "save" the inhabitants of the invaded countries) and enrich the War Industry at the same time.
Then expect a war or government intervention in Bolivia very soon.
There is likely not enough lithium currently to replace half of US IC vehicles with EV, nevermind the rest of the world. Or what's required for batteries in other applications. Do the math on how much Li is required for 1 Tesla's power pack, multiply it by the projected number of required vehicles, and compare that to world estimated lithium reserves: https://www.statista.com/statistics/268790/countries-with-the-largest-lithium-reserves-worldwide/
I get a sizable proportion of total Li reserves are required just to replace IC cars. Maybe a forgot to carry a 1 somewhere?
I picked on Bolivia because they have large numbers of alkali lakes they're just starting to develop, and consequently aren't a big player yet.
I don't know, maybe you just forgot that lithium batteries don't actually use up the lithium, so that the old batteries make a good source of it? So in theory, you should only need more lithium for the increase in capacity?
And another thing, this blaming Trump for the high unemployment is getting on my nerves. The governors shut down their states economies. It's obvious who's to blame, but, there's Bill Clinton repeating the same lie. These people have no shame.
Preach!
Bill Clinton was the least worst President between Reagan and Trump.
Does that include the selling of missle technology to the Chinese? (many articles will infer that since they didn't sell explosives and it was "just" advanced guidance chips that it doesn't count)
Does that include selling arms to Iran? Say what you will about Bill he at least didn't start a torture program or spy on every American.
The current policy traces its roots to the administration of former President Bill Clinton.
https://www.aclu.org/other/fact-sheet-extraordinary-rendition
"...spy on every American."
I hate to break it to you, but the NSA has been spying on Americans on US soil for a very long time. 9/11 just helped them be more overt about it, is all. James Bamford's book on the subject are a great place to start. Clinton was in it up to his eyeballs, like every President back to maybe Truman.
Really, it's the fantastically dropped prices for information storage, retrieval, and processing that have facilitated their work, not that the NSA has ever been shy about spending money. It wasn't realistic to listen to and store every single phone call in 1960. It is now.
Clinton is even famous for the FBI files at the white house.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_House_FBI_files_controversy
My favorite tangent on that story was Hillary and goons cleaning out Vince Foster's office before he was officially found in Fort Marcy Park.
Gotta love it though when leftists start touting how Clinton didn't engage with or abuse technology that really didn't exist in any major capacity. It's like bitching that Lincoln avoided all the Sunday morning news shows.
He just crushed people in Ruby Ridge and Waco simply to display government dominance over the populace.
No biggie
Technically, Ruby Ridge was a Bush Sr issue (August 92)
Honestly, so was Waco, at least the start of it. The actual assault may have begun on February 28th, a few weeks after Clinton took office, but everything had already been set in motion under Bush. And the assault was the responsibility of people Bush had promoted after the Ruby Ridge atrocities.
True, Reno was easy to bait into killing the Davidians, but the baiting was done by folks Bush had put in place.
It should be pretty obvious that Clinton is shameless.
That seems to be a prerequisite for national office.
Bill Clinton....... lying?
The Hell you say! I for one will not stand for such a scandalous, and unsupported accusation!
Yes, the virus was the best thing to happen to democrat policies. They can take more control over individual and economic freedom and blame Trump for unemployment when they mandate closures. Never let a crisis go to waste is their mantra.
People tend to blame the president for the economy anyway. If it’s any consolation, he’s fucking terrible, so GOOD.
At least half of all people are idiots as you constantly prove. You defend blaming someone for anothers actions because other people do also. Are you a child?
To be fair, it is largely actually the president’s fault this time.
What kind of lunatic would assume that man could manage a crisis of this magnitude? What evidence present or past do you have for such an assumption?
"To be
fairinsane, it is largely actually the president’s fault this time. What kind of lunatic would ignore the virus."
FTFY
Trump. Trump ignored the virus.
So you're saying you're too stupid to avoid doing the same thing Trump did?
Make up your mind dumbass.
Obama waited 10 months after the CDC declared the swine flu a pandemic. Trump waited 1 week. Want to try again? You literally called his travel restrictions in January racist dummy.
And we all remember the vast thousands dead from swine flu.
Ignoring the virus would have been a better course than that chosen by New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
To be fair, you're an idiot. Do you understand how federalism even works? You claim he is a fascist for 3 years then ask him to take fascist powers for some reason. The president is not responsible for Covid. He is not responsible for governors actions regarding Covid. He got castigated easy for federal supplies of ventilators, but we never even needed the fucking supplies as Cuomo ended up only needing 17k instead of the 100k he requested.
The problem with this response has been governors and the media. The brief of average idiots and how Covid isn't as harmful as chicken Littles say to the vast majority of people, especially those under 55.
https://www.franklintempleton.com/investor/article?contentPath=html/ftthinks/en-us-retail/cio-views/on-my-mind-they-blinded-us-from-science.html
But you are a partisan fuckwit so I don't expect you to understand reality.
A virus that doesn’t respect any borders seems like an awfully good argument against a federalism approach to pandemics.
Stop defending Trump,‘you look ridiculous.
Legally, "A good argument against federalism" is something that only matters if you're considering amending the Constitution. Federalism is the highest law of the land.
What you're doing here is setting up a "Heads I win, tails you lose" argument: Because Trump didn't take unconstitutional actions which you in retrospect think he should have, he's a lousy President. But if he had undertaken them, it would have confirmed him as a dangerous dictator. You win either way.
What kind of lunatic would assume that man could manage a crisis of this magnitude?
The first time I read this, I thought he was saying 'man' as in 'mankind'. Then I sadly realized he was just Trump-dumping per usual.
I should have known that Tony would never say anything sensible like it was hubris to think even a stupid piddly virus like COVID could be contained in the first place. Excess deaths how now subsided, demonstrating that it has killed old people a few months sooner than they would have died anyway. This is much ado about a nothingburger. Smallpox is laughing its ass off. But by all means, please shut more businesses and put more people in jeopardy of financial ruin so that the Ds have any chance to get a win in November.
I am thinking I should put my 14% Swedish heritage on my resume.
So you’ve reduced yourself to waving off hundreds of thousands of deaths for the sole reason, and no other reason, that you don’t want to criticize Donald Trump.
I hate you all.
Only a twisted piece of shit like you thinks those two things are related. As I stated elsewhere, Trump fucked up. He acknowledged this shit as a problem.
So you'd prefer the man who can't find his pants in the morning without help? Biden has all the management qualities of a hood ornament.
You're dumb as dirt. That's your problem. That's why you're an apologist for arguably the worst president ever.
You should consider reading some history books.
I have a bachelor's degree in history. I didn't learn my history from Alex Jones.
Oho he has a Bachelor's degree in history!
We'll call you if we have another run on TP.
AOC has a bachelor's degree in economics, but I'm pretty sure she didn't take any econ courses.
Don't forget her "award for science".
Gotta LOVE that bachelor's degree in history. So he packed 3000 years of detailed history into 40 classroom credits, and is therefore... set. Betcha he's got a subscription to the internet too.
Fuck off Tony.
Weird, Tony said he has a Bachelor's in History too.
No you don’t.
Specialty in Howard Zinn?
Most history majors I knew were borderline retards who specifically chose the books that fit their narratives when writing papers on subjects. Literally a major dedicated to subjectivity.
That's right. Professionals are not professionals. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.
The best kinds of books are books that tell you what you already know.
If you knew what you were talking about, you would realize that is the apt 1984 aphorism here
The nice thing about books that tell you what you already know is that you don't have to read them to know what's in them. It's a great time saver.
"I have a bachelor’s degree in history. "
And the crappy LSATs to prove it, right?
Do I need to send you picture of my big dick?
Lol. You should take a break. You’re really floundering more than normal this am.
I'm sure we can stipulate that you're the biggest dick at Reason.
LOL! You struck a nerve there!
"I have a bachelor’s degree in history."
I can only imagine the usefulness of said degree.
By this, I LITERALLY mean I can only IMAGINE it's usefulness. Hard to definitively prove a negative.
Hey.... one can easily fit all of history into 40 classroom credits. He prolly also read the internet a couple times.
I've often wondered why Reason never got around to allowing people to edit/delete their comments. I now realize that it's because once you are committed to full-on stupid and willing to put it in writing, it needs to stay right there like a monument.
You should ask for your money back.
You learned it from the nyt 1619 project?
President Trump's handling of the pandemic was completely incompetent. The result is that our country is in far worst shape than it should be at this time. No more of this Trump takes no responsibility. It is on his head and trying to shift blame is just fertilizer.
You guys keep trying to get this lie off the ground and it keeps crashing and burning.
Because it is the true and people know this fact. Just like the Russia connection keeps coming back, now from the Republican led Senate's report. Why because the facts show it is true. President Trump is incompetent, his handling of the coronavirus pandemic shows this. President Trump is corrupt, his involvement with Russia shows this. Fact don't lie.
Because it is the true and people know this fact
I have no idea what Trump's covid policy is, but I sure as shit know what my Mayor's and my Governor's policy is... now run with that.
I agree - Trump was incompetent at handling the pandemic. Probably not as incompetent as most politicians would have been, but the idea that the right Top Men could have just hand-waved the pandemic away is retarded. Just as retarded as assuming that the right Top Men can solve all the problems in the world and we could all be living in Paradise if only the right Top Men were in charge.
The best thing the government could have done would have been to issue an alert that there's some new disease going around and you need to take precautions and then issue periodic updates on what the scientists are finding out about the disease and what they're recommending as precautionary measures - and nothing else. Assume that people are adults here and can take care of themselves better than the government can. Is that a perfect solution to the problem? No, no it is not. Would it be a better solution than what we got out of government? Indubitably - because it would be the solution that the people themselves came up with and if the shit don't work, well, that's on you. Take responsibility for your actions, you sniveling pussy motherfuckers.
Word
Well said.
Except we don't have to imagine how a competent govt would have responded because we other countries to compare with and we are uniquely bad so your argument is bs.
Yes, we understand that countries with a lot less freedom than the U.S. were able to force all of their citizens into compliance to save the lives of a few at risk. Now, please fuck off and die, slaver.
You seem to think other people should die a lot for your freedom.
Lame.
Even the progs at the WaPo had to admit the Chinese welding doors shut to buildings with people inside wasn't faked. Is that the type of response you would have preferred you shitstain?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/02/06/warning-chinese-authoritarianism-is-hazardous-your-health/
I concur with your assessment and would clarify that the incompetence stems from not gagging Fauci and shutting down the CDC, which Trump could actually have done. The governors used the premature Science!, shitty advice, and outright lies to justify their stupid executive orders.
If Trump's handling of the issue was completely incompetent than Cuomo's was actively malicious and he should be tried for 11,000 counts of murder
A pox on both houses. The Trump administration bungled the pandemic from the outset. The governors are merely playing "me-too".
The excesses in the lockdowns are bad, but does not excuse the administration orginally (and still occasionally) denying the pandemic, officials recommending no masks, confiscation of PPEs, FDA fuckups all around, etc. It might not all have been Trump personally, but it's his administration.
Yeah, that's nuts. Probably my favorite thing about Trump is that he didn't try to impose a national lockdown policy. Maybe he fucked up in the beginning, but I don't think there was anything anyone was going to do that would have kept the rona out.
Kinda silly. Trump is all sorts of stupid and bonkers, but Biden is worse. It;s the governors, mostly Democrat, who ruined their state economies, and the Dems want to blow the country's economy to pieces with the Green New Deal. As far as overseas military adventures, Trump didn't end much, but he didn't start any either, and that's more than you can say for the Nobel Peace Prize winner and his sidekick.
Colin Powell? Isn't he the stooge who believed Bush and Cheney and beclowned himself at the UN on their behalf? Not a very promising endorsement. Maybe that was someone else, but my confusion only shows how unimportant he was and is; and relying on a 20 year old semi-celebrity is pretty pathetic. Why not bring out the rape enabler and apologist Hillary and her rapey husband?
And that's why he is a better match for neocons.
"he is a better match for neocons."
Exactly. But calling them 'hawks' makes the story sound more man-bites-dog as compared to noting that interventionist democrats are returning to the mother ship.
So your argument implies that the economy is doing great in Republican-governed states.
Depends on the state.
But I don't see people fleeing the red States like they are the blue states.
Yeah right. Places like Louisiana haven't grown in a lifetime. There are rural towns that haven't grown in a century. And the states with population growth are becoming more liberal which is another for sane.
"lifetime", "century" -- not part of the virus lockdowns then. What point are you trying to make.
There is nothing liberal about the direction blue states (and others too) are moving.
You knowing of a small town in Louisiana that hasn't had a population increase proves that people aren't moving out of NY CA and IL
This may come as a shock to you as a Democrat, but not everyone actually WANTS growth. I've lived in small towns that actually push this off, deny the Walmart and the factory, won't extend the borders of town, and deny multi-family living. I've heard many of them actually say, "if I wanted to live in a fucking city, I'd move there." They don't want your liberal bullshit shoved down their throat, don't need anything more than to enjoy life and feed the family, don't want your traffic, politics, crime, and have no interest in solving any of the other problems that invariably show up with your "growth".
No.
There are plenty of republican governors who have been acting like idiots too. This has been a pretty bipartisan fiasco.
Colin Powell? Isn’t he the stooge who believed Bush and Cheney and beclowned himself at the UN on their behalf?
It shouldn't shock anyone who has been conscious for the last two decades why repurposed and disgraced neocons like Colin Powell are emerging to support Biden. You're spot on about Hillary's husband. Whoever leaked the "massage" photo to the Daily Mail seems to be suggesting that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Trump is who he is and both mainstream parties are beyond broken but the cast of characters coming out to support Comma-la and Joe is frightening.
Colin Powell? Isn’t he the stooge who believed Bush and Cheney and beclowned himself at the UN on their behalf?
One of them, yes.
Colin Powell thought Romney was too extreme to be President. How is he a "Republican" Reason?
When he registered to vote he checked the Republican box. That's how anyone becomes a Republican.
Yes, and in exchange for that [and likely swinging a few votes to Bush], he got his SoS job, which he viewed as his ticket to the White House, and then subsequently botched over Iraq. He's a bitter man.
However, backing Obama twice and then Hillary pretty much makes it obvious that being "a Republican" only means he gets put on a pedestal by the Democrats. Would he actually change parties, they'd have no use for him either. His only value is that he looks like he's gone rogue against his Republicanism.
"Kinda silly. Trump is all sorts of stupid and bonkers, but Biden is worse. It;s the governors, mostly Democrat, who ruined their state economies, and the Dems want to blow the country’s economy to pieces with the Green New Deal. As far as overseas military adventures, Trump didn’t end much, but he didn’t start any either, and that’s more than you can say for the Nobel Peace Prize winner and his sidekick."
Hell, CA tried a watered down NGD for themselves and they have fucking rolling blackouts. And they want to do this NATIONALLY?
neocons gotta neocon.
they're still bummed he canceled their planned Iran war.
The neocon war mongers originally were Democrats; they invaded the Republican party a few decades ago. Now they are going home again to their original, authoritarian, trigger-happy, "let's poke that conflict half around the world with a sharp stick"t party, i.e., to the Democrats.
Wikipedia says they were Trotsky-ites.
Paging Rob Misek hehe.
God damn you mfers have no sense of reality. It's always upside down world around here.
And you have a degree people only joke about getting because it is worthless.
He doesn’t though.
What Reason said on their tweet for this article:
It's a tragedy that Trump wasted four years without meaningfully dismantling the neocon foreign policy consensus.
This Article:
The Trump era has caused many problems for the Republican Party and for America as a whole, but one of the few good things to come of the last four years has been the exile of the neoconservatives to the political wilderness.
A momentary lapse in their TDS.
This #LibertarianMoment brought to you by #OrangeManBad and the #Deplorables who supported him, over the hysterical pants shitting opposition of @Reason.
You're welcome.

Seriously?
Trump vs The Swamp 2020
I feel sorry for you. God help you if you genuinely care about draining the swamp.
"Trump is The Swamp"
fixed that for you
Yea, totes dude.
That's why the entire power establishment unites against him and has gone batshit crazy trying to stop him since the moment he was elected.
Real smart.
Please repeat more insightful groupthink shibboleth so we can learn to love Big Brother as much as you.
No, no, you got it backward. I am opposed to Trump. I have no interest in supporting his Big Brother, Patriot Act-loving, police state-invoking bullshit even if some imaginary "power establishment" is united against him.
So you’re ignorant. Got it.
So enlighten me O Smart One.
You would rather support Democrats' Big Brother, Patriot Act-loving, police state-invoking bullshit. I suppose it's a matter of taste.
You haven't actually looked at the Democratic platform have you? Cradle to grave, you pay for it, and they control every aspect of your life. They aren't even hiding it anymore. New green deal, Medicaid for all, lockdowns, every job requires a government license. Let's quit pretending you're against Big Brother. You love your BB, so long as it is YOUR BB. You make a lovely parrot.
On a libertarian site, of all places, it takes someone incredibly oblivious to assume that one who opposes the Republican Party must automatically support the Democratic Party. I cannot imagine by so far up MSM's ass to be deluded into thinking there are any political differences between the two.
tl;dr fuck the Democrats, JoNotJoe
Colin 'let's fight Iraq twice' Powell.
This blaming Trump for high unemployment is getting on my nerves. The governors shut down their state economies. It’s obvious who’s to blame, but, there’s Bill Clinton repeating the same lie. These people have no shame.
Best Hodies for Womens
Wow, this is clearly a bot and yet it typed the damn near same message as "Adans Smith".
Trump is responsible for the unemployment to the extent any one person is responsible. Trump lied and stupidly believed the Covid was nothing to defend against. He made it worse by not taking preventative measures early. And to this day the mfer is a mixed message at best but mostly just delusional. 1000 dead a day for weeks now in the blistering summer. What do you fucking morons think is going to happen when the flu season hits?
Haha, your dumbass realized it was a bot, then still tried to engage it.
No idiot, I'm engaging the message.
Haha, you realized it was a bot and still engaged with it.
The massage is also inanimate.
You don't know of that bots now try to copy other messages to avoid automated bot filters? Degree in history is working out well for you. This has been one of the avoidance behaviors for half a decade.
He doesn’t really have a degree in history.
Can't wait for White Knight to come in and defend him.
Caw caw!
Not sure how he could be such an idiot without some sort of worthless degree.
Gender studies?
If only the right Top Men were in charge.
"Wow, this is clearly a bot and yet it typed the damn near same message as “Adans Smith”."
Wow, you really don't know how bots work around here.
I mean, I don't know how bots work either, but I have at least the minimal intelligence required to recognize that cloning comments is one of their regular techniques...
I hadn't given it much thought. Of course it doesn't matter. You idiots are talking about to deflect from the substance of these political arguments. I'm not sure if it's intentional misdirection or something innate.
I have no doubt that you aren't sure, so I'll state it directly: we're laughing at you, pod
In my defense, I'm ALSO pitying his family for being related to him.
Don’t forget his neighbors. I’m sure his mom lets him out of the house once in awhile and they have to deal with him.
RINOs are turning out for Joe Biden.
Who would have thought?
Brain-Damaged Biden and Heels Up Harris should enjoy this week. This week will be as good as it gets for them. After this week, it will slowly go downhill. Why? Because Brain-Damaged Biden can't hide out in his basement bunker forever. Eventually, he will have to answer questions, do interviews, and debate POTUS Trump 3X-4X. And Heels Up Harris will have to defend her record, and policy positions.
I don't think the 'RINO and pony show' is going to make a difference, ultimately.
I thought it was Rounded Heels Harris
They're definitely spiked heels. Once she's done sleeping her way to the top, she needs to go out and trample as many black and brown bodies as she can as efficiently as possible. It's kind of her whole thing.
"Because Brain-Damaged Biden can’t hide out in his basement bunker forever. Eventually, he will have to answer questions, do interviews, and debate POTUS Trump 3X-4X."
You're a lot more sure about that than I am. I see lots of softball videoconferenced questions, some public appearances shot from telephoto lens, and a refusal to debate, or to only debate via some Zoom-like format.
And an utterly craven media apparatus that will cover for all of the above.
Uh, he is already out there taking tough questions from Cardi B
Where's the coke, Joe?
"Sure, Joe doesn't know how many grandkids he has. He's as sharp as ever" --- MSM.
Sadly, they aren't wrong there, either. He was known as Obama's assassination insurance for a reason.
Don't forget there's a "neo" in the name "neocon" for a reason. The GOP fancies itself the party of the Big Tent, but don't you dare forget who's the ringmaster here, and it ain't you buddy. These people are throwing a hissy fit because the clowns have revolted and decided they want to run the show, never mind that they've been running the show for 40 years and have accomplished exactly Jack Squat.
The Christian right who are well represented in the Trump pray and hope the world will end soon with a war in the middle east so they can rapture to heaven. They want it happen. There's nothing crazy then that.
Haha, you’re so fucking nuts it’s truly hilarious. You make Tony look reasonable.
Can I get this in English?
Sure you could, but why would you want to?
There are certainly Christians who want that, but they are not the biggest part of Trump's base. The biggest part are still the contrarians who cheer him on anytime he does something that causes the Democrats and the media who shit bricks.
Never forget that this is Team Sports, and Trump is more aware of that fact than any other candidate in history. He's playing for his crowd.
If the Far Right Christian Eschatologists were in charge, Trump would be spending all his time talking about a wall in Jerusalem rather than a wall next to Mexico.
Which will be accomplished by bringing peace between Israel and the UAE and the other Arab states, because achristians are crazy
You know that's not going to happen right? I'm not even that old and I don't remember a president in my life time that hasn't tried to claim that they've diplomatically solved the conflicts in the Middle East, especially right before an election. I'm rolling my eyes, not holding my breath.
The UAE officially acknowledged Israel's right to exist.
That's not nothing
It was worth something when Carter did it with Egypt [officially Carter's only success], and it's worth something now. And no.... no president has claimed they've solved the Middle East. Your comment is nothing but hyperbole.
This is actually one of the best reasons to vote for Biden. The neocon GOP of the early 2000s was far superior to today's version, which has been taken over by alt-right white nationalists.
#LibertariansForEmbracingNeocons
#(AtLeastTheyreProImmigration)
It sounds like the 2000's neocons are more of the white nationalists if they're really claiming to be far superior.
Yes they all screamed when Trump removed a very small amount of Troops out of Syria and then again when he removed some out of Germany. The cold war ended, Russia's GDP is equal to that of Texas. Get the rest out of Germany, they can take care of themselves.
Only Trump could get us out of endless troop deployments. But he didn't. Such a failure.
Everyone who’s not insane or evil supports Biden, and if you can’t figure out why, pick one. Jesus Christ. Donald fucking Trump is misruling far beyond what even I thought republicans were capable of. And some deity thinks it was a funny joke to give us a global pandemic on that charlatan shitstain’s watch.
Even more farcical is watching libertarians slobber on his cock region, not apparently because even they believe such an obvious banana republic travesty has anything to do with freedom, but, what, because he validated your masculinity in your mind? Fox News: the dumber, the more persuasive, I guess.
Lol. Banana Republic... like process crimes and Russia gate?
Insane or evil... like supporting Iran's export of terrorism after giving them billions of dollars (despite rulings allowing that money to go to victims of Iranian terrorism) to export even more? Supporting chemical castration of kids as young as 5 isn't evil? Complete take over of economy and energy under green new deal isnt authoritarianism?
Everything you and your fellow democrats stand for is control and it is evil. Just look at the mob like tactics your side supports in major cities. You're literal fascists at this point using violence and terror to foment your power.
Perhaps those would be evil if they were true. Stop trusting everything republicans and their spin people say. They lie. Obama ended his terms with the US’s image mostly repaired. Trump has ruined this country. I’m sorry you have to retreat to a psychological security blanket not to face that, but at some level you have to know it. I mean look at him.
So that pallet of cash and the Dems supporting the green new deal isn’t real?
Expand upon “pallet of cash” because I’d hate to waste my time with someone who doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about.
The LA Times good enough for your dishonest ass? https://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-iran-payment-cash-20160907-snap-story.html
Should you click on that note the following quote, "Treasury Department spokeswoman Dawn Selak said in a statement late Tuesday that the cash payments were necessary because of the “effectiveness of U.S. and international sanctions,” which isolated Iran from the international finance system.
The $1.7 billion was the settlement of a decades-old arbitration claim between the U.S. and Iran. An initial $400 million of euros, Swiss francs and other foreign currency was delivered on pallets Jan. 17, the same day Tehran agreed to release four American prisoners.
The Obama administration had claimed the events were separate, but recently acknowledged the cash was used as leverage until the Americans were allowed to leave Iran. The remaining $1.3 billion represented estimated interest on the Iranian cash the U.S. had held since the 1970s...
...The officials said the $1.3 billion was paid in cash on Jan. 22 and Feb. 5. The aide was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity..."
Pallets. Of. Cash.
So we don't have videos of rioting in every major city? The green new deal is fake and AOC and Biden didn't endorse them?
Try harder Tony.
It was characterized as a “complete takeover” of the economy. That is a lie. You people are stupid.
LMAO
A douche is better than a turd sandwich, but a douche is still a douche and I'm not ordering a douche for dinner!
I know math, so I know that my single vote does NOT matter in my home state of California. So fuck you for telling me I have to vote for Stalin over Hitler. I will not vote for the lesser evil.
Want to know why evil keeps getting elected? Because the lesser evil is still evil!
You think Stalin was less evil than Hitler?
It's a tough call. If you are going by raw death and destruction, Stalin probably comes out on top. But there is something about the particulars of Hitler's project that makes it seem extra evil. I don't think it's particularly useful to argue over which is worse. They are both very, very evil.
One should also normalize for the years in power. Stalin had more years to do evil. Stalin did more evil, but Hitler's evil was more concentrated.
I think the left likes Stalin, because he was an equal opportunity murderer. Ones race or ethnicity did not matter to Stalin, he would have Beria torture and murder you anyway.
Mao makes both look like pikers. I wonder why the left loves Mao.
Hitler's camps got liberated. Photographed. Their infamy, evil, and horror detailed. Stalin's (and Mao's) didn't. All we have are a few photos and cranks like Solzhenitsyn to tell us what happened.
Wearing the red star should be as socially forbidden as wearing the swastika.
The thing about Hitler and the Nazis was the cold bureaucratic implementation of genocide. It would have been a little less repulsive if they were just crazies going around randomly killing people.
One lesson from both cases is don’t put severely mentally ill psychopaths in charge of countries.
Anyone?
Oh my! We have hit the Hitler/Stalin part of the conversation. It's always helpful to be able to add the name of another literary genius to the list of people to disregard. Wow, you nailed it. You sure got em this time.
Send the Neocons over to the democrats. The definition of an idiot is someone who voted for W and then for Biden.
Neocons are simply going back home to the party of LBJ and Macnamara after 50 years of renting the GOP
Powell hasn't been a Republican since he got on his knees for Obama in 2008.
No? Did he change his party affiliation?
The war hawks realize what many of the doves realize is that we need a better person handling foreign policy. Collin Powell is not a chicken hawk he has served in the military and commanded armies. You may not always agree with him but I think you can respect his opinion. Like so many things these days we need a return to normalcy, including in our foreign policy. Once we get back to normal we can sort out the finer points of where we should intervene and where not to intervene.
His entire history says otherwise but Ill give your case a listen, let's hear it.
... That's your case?
I have to excuse myself, it would be rude to laugh directly in your face.
No it isn't. We Allright at him daily.
All laugh*
Powell served in the military. Checkmate bitches.
I for one can honestly say I respect Colin Powell's opinion just as highly as I respect George Bush's opinion, Mitt Romney's opinion, Henry Kissinger's opinion, John Bolton, John Brennan, John Kasich or John McCain's opinion.
😎
"Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one, and they all stink."
Israel and the UAE think you’re full of shit.
Now do Mike Flynn
We need a better person handling foreign policy. We should go ask the people that were behind the Iraq war, the Afghan war, the Libyan war, the Syrian war, the Yemenese war, the Gulf war, "fast and furious" scandal, Syrian rebels that became ISIS, armed and trained Bin Laden, armed and backed Saddam, previously backed the Assad regime, back the Saudi regime..... Now shall I do South America? How 'bout Asia?
You're right, we do need better people handling foreign policy, and the Dems going back to the poisoned well aren't offering them.
Back to normal is a perfect cocktail of evil and incompetent. But at least they spare no expense and never face any consequences!
Why are we discussing this instead of the important news that Harry and Meghan have purchased a multi-million dollar property in Santa Barbara? Now that's what "foreign relations" is all about.
With whose money, I idly wonder? I thought Mummy had cut them off? For, among other things, trying to trademark his peerage title, and turn it into a lifestyle brand.
Exactly. This is the kind of info we need, not wondering if our troops are going to come home safely from the world's shitholes, or if Nato countries are going to throw tantrums about paying for their own defense.
Lil fella got a nice tidy sum from Princess Di, who got a nice tidy sum from Prince Charles who got a much bigger sum from Queenie. Also, while Queenie may have cut him off, Pappy Chuck likely hasn't. The monarchy is worth about $90B, so getting "cut off" is a relative term that probably means something different to you and I than it does to them. Also likely that Princess M gets her own nice little stipend so long as she avoids bringing public shame to the Monarchy.
Trump was not a repudiation of Bush. He was a repudiation of decades of selling off our assets and jobs for cheap foreign labor and open borders. Whether he’ll be successful rides also on the pathetic shoulders of congress.
Republicans put up two candidates against Obama who today would vote for Biden. They don’t give a crap about manufacturing or job losses or the degenerate culture that spawned this era. They just want conflict and open war. Remember what Eisenhower warned us?
Trump is partially what Perot wanted 30 years ago. His problem is that he didn’t follow through on cutting government spending to reign in the deficits and debt. Even before the pandemic. Again that’s largely the fault of congress which is made of far left democrats and some republicans who will vote for Biden.
After this it’s one party rule. Have fun with that because I think your days of freely criticizing the powers that be are nearly at an end.
How many times do people need to restate that manufacturing output is higher than ever and job losses are primarily due to technological advancement for people to get it? If Trump's appeal relies entirely on ignorance then he deserves to lose.
They understand that a vote for Biden is actually a vote for Harris, right? Does anybody actually believe Biden would serve a full term? There's no way.
The Party of Antifa/BLM thugs is the Party of warmongering neo-cons. Big tent. Not surprising.
"We just want control."
Powell hasn’t endorsed a Republican for President since leaving the GW Bush administration.
I wrote last week of the Harris nomination to VP that it was an obvious ploy to outflank Trump on the right. Clearly this is the canny move. The left will have little choice but to stick with Biden, and given a right wing alternative, Republicans won't have much trouble supporting a Biden/Harris ticket.
Every month start earning more cash from $20,000 to $24,000 by working very simple j0b 0nline from home. And last time around. Don't forget that. This is the same group of sad losers that let the left and the Dems use them last time.
The shift will be good for the neocons because wars under democrat leadership are just and covered that way in the media
"With Joe Biden in the White House, you will never doubt that he will stand with our friends and stand up to our adversaries," Powell said. "He will restore America's leadership in the world and restore the alliances we need to address the dangers that threaten our nation."
Apparently Gen Powell's memory is kind of short or he would remember every since Powell has been in the army when the democrats took over the presidency and at least one of the houses of congress the democrats have cut the military budget. Now that did not mean that the national spending also declined because spending generally increased and so did taxes. But defense always come up with the short end of the stick especially when there was not a shooting war and even sometimes even then. When the DoD gets the same money that it it got the year before but inflation has increased 4% to 10% (even more during the Carter administration) it is a cut in real spending. At the same time social spending increased tremendously. All kinds of entitlements were passed (to help the POOR not to be poor any longer). They even passed a program call "War on Poverty" which spent loads of money and and with all these entitlements and programs such as "War on Poverty" the poor has gotten worse off each year since. Most of these had their start during LBJ reelection campaign. It was believed, I think, that if these entitlements were passed the poor would vote a straight democrat ticket, well for the most part it work since in the black population especially the poorer members of that group votes consistently around +/- 90% democrat.
Biden has been a member of congress a good part of that time and he has been in the democrat party all of the time he has been in government service and he was a part of the democrats that voted all these give away programs but no where did he ever vote to get more jobs in these areas where these poor people lived nor did he do any thing to improve the schools in these areas either. Now he may have voted for a program or two that was supposed to improve these schools but we can tell that none ever did.
Now Biden as a democrat has been against giving the state run school system any competition by allow private and charter schools compete with local government run school. The democrats know if they start allowing private and charter schools compete with government schools and each school get support with tax funds the UNION's would cut the democrats throat in a New York minute. Then the democrat part would be dead and they know it.
But I must say to General Powell that I am greatly disappointed in him and all the other republican supporting Biden.
So Powell is not concerned about senile Joe's hand linger over the nuclear button when he meant to press the "order pizza" button?

Fact: Donald J. Trump has been the most libertarian-minded president in at least 75 years when it comes to foreign policy questions. It's high time libertarians come to grips with that.
They need to fire your ass and deport you to Russia.
You’re really enjoying talking to bots moron! Hahaha.
I've seen this before. Usually some homeless guy walking down the street talking to his invisible friends. Lord of Strazele can be thankful his mom is still working.
