Cops Arrest Brooklyn Rabbi for Letting Kids—Ages 11, 8, and 2—Walk to the Store
They even sent an ambulance, because it's not like there's anything else going on in New York.

A Brooklyn dad who let his kids walk a few blocks to the local store was arrested on Sunday morning and charged with endangering the life of a child.
The charges against Noah Chakoff, a rabbi, were dropped about 12 hours later. But the ordeal began when New York City police stopped the kids—ages 11, 8, and a 2-year-old in a stroller—as they were simply heading to their local bodega (a small candy-and-everything-else store).
"I can understand them stopping the children, just to ask a few questions," Chakoff's attorney, Jason Goldman, tells Reason. "But obviously I don't agree with them charging the rabbi and keeping him for hours and hours while everything was going on with the pandemic."
Reporter Noah Goldberg writes in The New York Daily News that the police even sent an ambulance to the scene. Is there nothing more pressing a New York City EMT might need to attend to? Are kids to be considered so neglected, endangered, or rabid, that they might require emergency medical care by merely being outside?
The rabbi was taken to the precinct and then on to central booking. His wife, eight months pregnant with their ninth child, tried to bring her husband the holy items used for prayer, but these were not given to him.
Eventually the cops presented their arrest to the prosecutor.
"The prosecutor ultimately decides if they are going to prosecute the case and nine times out of 10—even more than nine times out of 10—they do," says Goldman. "But on occasion, the prosecutor will make the smart decision not to prosecute the case." And that is what happened here.
The reason, Goldman added, is because letting your kids go to the store is not actually against the law. On the contrary—it's perfectly normal behavior.
If only cops harassing innocent families was a little less normal.

Perfectly normal behavior has been banned for a few months now.
Excellent. Now he's got a perfectly grounded lawsuit for false arrest.
Go git 'em.
Eight kids?? He probably liked the peace and quiet of central booking.
Charedim literally do nothing but breed and study the Torah& Talmud. They are a major welfare drain in Israel because they don't pay taxes or serve in the IDF. Pretty nice gig in my opinion.
It doesn't say this guy is in Israel. They arrested him in New York.
Or are you a parody account - a Jewish OBL?
With a name like his, I'd say RHW is at least partly a parody account. But he never said this Rabbi was in Israel. He made a statement about the haredim in Israel, with the implication being that the same phenomenon occurs in New York. As for these kids, what presumably attracted the police attention was that the two kids walking were pushing a third, younger child in a stroller. You don't often see children in strollers accompanied only by other children. It may not be illegal, but it is certainly out of the ordinary.
And WHY is that? By the time a young child is eleven, they take a LOT of responsibility for their younger siblings. THIS is what is normal. I've known plenty of families with a binch of kids, by the time any of them are eight, they are carrying a lot of responsibility add two more years, they're doing a lot more, and at 12 nost of them I've known (including myself as I was growing up), could and did mamage the entire household for a few hours if Mom had to take a little one to the doc, or some such. Illegal these days, because the gummit skelwz are producing self-centred incompetent good for nothing sixteen year olds that are only capable of tweeting crazy pictures on their "fones".
It is now. But we're back to the doctrine of 'reasonable expectation'. At one time that wouldn't have been out of the ordinary (if not exactly common). But because it is now, its defined as 'unreasonable' and so can be criminalized now.
They can serve in the Israeli Army now.
They are complaining about female soldiers singing while marching in public.
The reason, Goldman added, is because letting your kids go to the store is not actually against the law.
What does the law have to do with anything a NYC prosecutor does.
So they arrested the dad and put him with a bunch of other people did they social distance in jail? this is stupid
Is suing for false arrest still a thing?
You can literally sue for anything. It can just as easily be tossed out, but the judge at least as to act on it.
The best part about suing the police is discovery. That is usually when they settle.
For a professional criminal, arrests are a cost of doing business, and being released without charges is a victory.
To your average law-abiding citizen, the process is the punishment whether the charges are dropped or not.
You know, nature TRIED to nuke New York with the whole virus thing, but it didn't seem to work. The nanny is still there. Next time nature needs to nuke the city from orbit with an asteroid. Not a huge one, just enough to take out New York City but leave Connecticut intact.
What's so great about Connecticut?
The Chinese are trying man. When the virus didn't work they tried to drop a booster on it.
New Yorkers and their fucking bodegas.
When was the retarded cop arrested for kidnapping?
vote with your feet, Rabbi.
I would lay odds on the Rabbi voting for the incumbents.
All the stories like this Skenazy's been posting, I've always said would never happen in NYC or any dense cities like it, nor way out in the country — only in suburbs. Now this social isolation has NYC cops thinking like suburbanites.
8 kids and one in the oven? Sounds like the good rabbi needs to practice some social distancing with his wife the poor thing, talk about throwing a hot-dog down a hallway, sheesh...
The time it took the rabbi to deal with all this crap, he could have had 2 more kids. Oy vey!
Just start fining cops any time they make a mistake. You waste the cities time arresting people, dragging them into a police house and then a court house, for the charges to get thrown out... guess what, now you're financially liable for this waste of time. Maybe an extra penalty since we're in a state of emergency right now.
Watch how quickly we go from a society that criminalized everything to cops refusing to arrest anyone who isn't clearly breaking the law. As it should be.
"Just start fining cops any time they make a mistake."
And get beat down and arrested by cops who'll get off on qualified immunity because they say they were never instructed that it's perfectly legal for you to film them.
That's what you get for living in NYC
What they didn't mention was they were going to the bodega to buy dad some weed!
Bored cops not enough to do combined with arrogance and hostility.
People elsewhere wonder why people are carrying guns at protests.
When I tell them that Jews don't carry guns and so get shit on by government but Muslims do and so get their asses kissed - that's why these white dudes are carrying guns at these protests.
Same damned reason why the Panthers carried guns.
What they didn’t mention was they were going to the bodega to buy dad some weed! best digital marketing company in jaipurNot a huge one, just enough to take out New York City but leave Connecticut intact.
Amazing Information. Helpful for me

What was the charge he was arrested on?
He was "endangering the life of a child" by allowing his children to walk down the street in NYC? Does NYPD not realize what they're really saying is they have utterly failed to keep the streets of New York safe?
Surprise, surprise, on PBS NewsHour a day later the pro-nanny state folk are complaining that they can't badger parents during the Covid-19 pandemic. "Oh why can't we narc on people we don't know about? We need to control and destroy the lives of others because we don't trust them!"
This is abnormal behavior that attacks normal behavior. As kids in the 1950s we could go all over long as we said we'd be back at mealtimes.... Of course that wasn't in New York, but it was normal.
