Knives Come Out Immediately at Vegas Democratic Debate—and Not Just at Bloomberg
"Stop and frisk" policies are brought into the crosshairs right away.

It took less than 10 seconds for Michael Bloomberg's support for stopping and frisking black men as mayor of New York City to be referenced at tonight's Democratic debate in Las Vegas. The knives are out, folks.
The debate opened with moderators immediately pitting front-runner Sen. Bernie Sanders (I–Vt.) against Bloomberg over who is the more polarizing figure and which one will bring out enough votes to push Trump out of office.
Sanders immediately brought up stop-and-frisk, stating that it will push away voters the Democrats need to win. Bloomberg, on the other hand, said moderate voters won't be coming out for socialist Sanders. If Sanders is the nominee, he said bluntly, "We'll have Trump for another four years."
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D–Mass.) jumped in to point out that Bloomberg has said the same sorts of nasty, sexist things that people associate with President Donald Trump and has a history of "hiding his tax returns, harassing women, and supporting stop-and-frisk and redlining."
Former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg used the opportunity to declare that both Bloomberg and Sanders are too polarizing to win, pointed out that Sanders is having problems with the Nevada Culinary Union over his health plans, and got one of the bigger early applause lines: "Let's put in somebody who's actually a Democrat."
The attacks are entertaining, and they're also useful: The candidates are addressing the differences between their policy proposals. Of course it quickly shifted into a debate over who has the best health plan, as has every previous debate. But now the candidates are truly working for votes. For better or worse, Bloomberg has energized the candidates.

God DAMN Warren out of nowhere with the RKO!!!
I think Bloomberg's campaign just went and shot itself in the fucking head
Aaaaand anyone see Petey & Klobuchar's catfight? Surprised they didn't start slap fighting
If she were Hillary, Pete would be a dead man
Bitch slapping; in the best possible meaning of the phrase
Is Bloomberg getting smoked? I can't watch this debate real time ????
so he's gotten a few good hits in, including calling Sanders out on his 3 mansions, but Warren fucking destroyed him on all the sexual harassment accusations and hammered him on letting the women involved out of their NDAs, (he wouldn't)
Bloomberg and Warren are winning.
Klobuchar is getting destroyed.
Biden is irrelevant.
Pete is doing ok.
I am entertained
"a debate over who has the best health plan"
I thought Obama had the best health plan?
All problems with Obamacare are the result of Republican sabotage. That's why we need to give Democrats full control of all 3 branches.
#IMissObama
LMAO... Maximum stupidity..... because a 1/2-Stock purchase that goes to crap in less than 6-months obviously will be a winner IF ONLY one was to throw ALL their money into that same stock.
Hey - I'm a winner!! I just stole your money last time because you didn't give me ALL your money.... Once you send me all your money then it'll work out great.........
My honest question; is how do lefties keep themselves out-of being clinically diagnosed as wildly retarded?? We already know most of them can't seem to sustain themselves without committing crimes against their fellow man. Isn't that like an early warning sign or something?
It’s racist to think anything else, isn’t it?
Obama was a conservative
https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/11/22/barack-obama-conservative/?arc404=true
LOL.. Well if he was; he was the worst "conservative" in the entire history of the U.S... AND I mean the ENTIRE history.. He'd even make Bush Jr. look like a Constitutionalist.
OK, no way I'm watching that, but the comments will likely provide a good idea of the lefty pillow fight.
this one's actually good comedy. Even better if you watch it via Razorfist on Youtube. But the moderators are asking pointed questions and all the candidates have taped as many knives to them as possible. It is weird that Warren's being given as much screen time considering how she's doing in the polls/primaries
That means they’re carrying water for her in the hopes she picks up in the polls.
with the bloomberg execution I'd say she has a chance of increasing her standing, but I don't think she'll be able to keep it in the long way
*run
Warren is showcased because they are desperate to dilute Bernie Sanders.
I see Steyer didn't get an invitation. Probably has to do with his latest ad: He's going to beat Trump on the economy!
Really!
I think it's because they already had one gnome for diversity on the stage with Bloomberg, so they didn't need another
I’m not exactly sure why Team Blue feels like the economy, of all things, is a hill to die on right now. To hear them talk about the American economy you’d think we were back in 2009 rather than living through the best economy most of us have ever experienced, and the best we’ll likely ever experience.
What are you, 12? THIS is the best economy you've ever experienced or will experience?
That's an astoundingly short sighted and pessimistic perspective. Sure, No one in office or running for it will improve it but my taxes are higher, costs for good are up and job prospects are luke warm at best.
"That’s an astoundingly short sighted and pessimistic perspective. Sure, No one in office or running for it will improve it but my taxes are higher, costs for good are up and job prospects are luke warm at best."
Sarc or stupidity?
I mean, it's better than Obama's economy. Not all of us are old enough to remember when gas didn't cost an arm and a leg, and dollar menus were a thing. For younger voters, Trump's given us a fucking chance. Hopefully it will improve further, but it sure as hell it won't be the democrats doing the improving.
Dollar menus? I'm old enough to remember happy hour 10 cent oysters and 10 cent wings! To put that in context, a pitcher of draft "special" would've been $2-3 bucks with the former a screaming deal.
I'm old enough to remember when you could only get two wings off a chicken instead of four.
If your job prospects are lukewarm, that's a you thing.
So stupidity...
No surprise.

You could beat on Trump theoretically on tariffs, but that's gonna be a hard sell to most voters; most voters are not theorists.
Other than that, what are you going to gripe about? You're dead-beat scumbag relative commie-kid who still won't pay his mortgage?
Or his student loans, or his medical bills. Too busy buying black market THC Vapes and sticking it to the man I suppose.
That might be why your job prospects are lukewarm.
"Or his student loans, or his medical bills. Too busy buying black market THC Vapes and sticking it to the man I suppose."
Uh, OK, and why is purple?
Are you capable of cogency?
"why is purple?"
I lols.
"I’m not exactly sure why Team Blue feels like the economy, of all things, is a hill to die on right now."
Because, as AOC has explained, things are so bad everyone needs 2 or 3 jobs to survive.
#DrumpfRecession
#ItsPossibleForUnemploymentToBeTooLow
If AOC said it it must be true....
What does a barely conscious former bartender turned congressperson not know?
AOC actually has an economics degree. She knows what she's talking about.
I'm guessing that taking a few econ courses isn't a requirement for that degree.
How to improve her job prospects, at least.
I'll give her this: she was smart enough to try to change the branding from "democratic socialism" to "social democracy"
Bernie still hasn't figured that out
Bloomberg is the only one not promising to completely tear down the economy
Isn't he promising to raise taxes?
Everything's relative
Not his taxes though. Wont push Warren's wealth tax.
Steyer can't meet the polling criteria. But its a little wierd that he is doing so well (>10%) in SC and NV, but 2.5% nationally.
This isn't a debate. It's fucking shouting match. I've seen more decency and decorum at college keggers.
You almost make me regret missing it.
Incidentally, Bloomberg and Buttigieg are the only two candidates on that stage who look like they have the slightest spark of intelligence or idea what they're doing. If I were a Democratic conspiracy theorist—but I repeat myself—I might start wondering if Bloomberg were a Trump plant.
I stumbled upon a few minutes of this to see Warren and Biden hanging up on Bloomberg about releasing his acusers form NDA's. He had no idea how to respond but their juvenile oversimplification of the matter should have been all he needed to shut them down and make them seem foolish.
I would care more about your whining if you weren't being left behind because of your own poor choices while everyone else is prospering immensely.
Wanna try that in English? Non disclosure agreements?
Half the questions had to do with recent bad press, not policy issues. The candidates were as undignified and unprofessional as circus clowns. It was a two hour food fight, and the audience had a rollicking good time acting like baboons. Nothing good can come from this.
Trump 2020

That was fun.
Horror movie kinda fun.
If any of them had a chance to win, it would be terrifying.
Some takeaways:
- the climate is racist
- economy doing good, but must be completely torn down
- Klobuchar doesn't have much time left, which is good because her face and voice are absolutely repulsive
- Warpath Warren is fun! (When directed against her opponents rather than general abstractions)
- Bloomberg did better than I thought he would; still, the NDA stuff was a bad look
- mayor pete had some good zingers, but his platform is "I'm not extreme, I'm not status quo... I'm totally undefined!"
- Bernie has work to do; not a great night for him
mayor pete had some good zingers, but his platform is “I’m not extreme, I’m not status quo… I’m totally undefined!”
Eh. It worked for Obama. "I'm a blank sheet upon which to project your hopes and dreams."
For all the low-watt lefties posting here, if you really want to know why you've already been branded as fucking ignoramuses, I suggest you spend the time to read Tony Judt's "Post War".
Since your reading skills are limited, the ~600 pages might take the remainder of your grammar-school career, but we'll be here next year to read your whines. Or several years after that; 6th grade is tough, right?
Judt (RIP) was certainly no 'capitalist tool', but like Manchester, was far too honest an historian to let his ideology get in the way of facts; tough shit for lefty fucking ignoramuses.
Among other observations in his history of Europe, post WWII, he points out that centralized planning invariably leads to centralized mass murder, and (sorry, scumbags like trueman) backs it with cites.
Further, he makes clear that the immediate post WWII socialist welfare provisions were nothing other than buying off of a (supposedly) communist population, which action has proven somewhat affordable so long as the US continues to provide defense for those scumbags. Absent that, they would have collapsed.
I've got more reading material to offer if you shitstains choose to learn anything. I doubt it; 'free shit' is far more attractive than knowledge.
May you all be fucked with a running, rusty chain-saw.
Ha! I remember that -- you recommended at least once before, I bought it, and it is a fine book. Not an ordinary history book.
Thanks for the recommendation. I've not read it, but it looks like the kind of door stopper I'd be interested in reading. Heavier fare than the last two Discworld novels, anyway.
Your last recommendation of Frank's Downfall was very good. Necessary reading for those on the fence about the necessity of the atomic bombings.
"Your last recommendation of Frank’s Downfall was very good. Necessary reading for those on the fence about the necessity of the atomic bombings."
Thanks. I've got at least 10 books on 'the bombs' and many more on WWII. Over the last 20 years, I've become convinced that the nukes were the most humane alternative to ending the war, and Frank cemented that view.
Knives Come Out Immediately at Vegas Democratic Debate
If I knew there was going to be a knife fight, I would have watched!
For sheer nastiness, Warren remains the gold standard. She's especially good at the fake-out, where she starts out sounding positive about an opponent, gets them to lower their guard, and then smashes them in the face. She seems to have no social conscience and does this indiscriminately to everyone, which gives her a great advantage. If the Democratic objective is to nominate someone who can rival Trump in the degeneration of thoughtful discourse, she's the winner.
I was gonna say the tax return exchange was the dumbest of the night..... then I remembered the medical records exchange. And that was brought up by the moderators.
What in the ever lovin'?????
That's what they wanted to center on. Not policy - in a democrat primary where massive policy differences are at stake - but 'Will you pledge to release your full medical records?'
Who the hell cares? What exactly are we learning from that? Unless you have full on dementia or you have an inoperable brain tumor... of what use is a stack of medical records?
Dumbest controversy ever.
It's not surprising, this is what the American left is. Principals, not principles.
What these people's policies are is far less important than how many purity tests they can pass. It's way easier to crow about how morally superior you are than it is to actually accomplish a policy objective.
HA! You're not wrong
She’s worried about the wine moms defecting to Bloomberg. Either that or they might find out that they are more Native American than she is
same! I remember a WWE meme from 2016 that was something along the lines of "And here comes Bernie with the STEEL CHAIR!" and if that doesn't describe this debate, I don't know what does
I doubt he could lift a hammer and sickle.
He started out badly, but destroyed them in the second half.
The economy is good right now.
The vast majority of people have jobs and are making money. The pew poll hit a record high on people who feel good about the economy...
And every candidate besides Bloomberg wants to blow it all up. They're all running on blowing it up. And Bloomberg called them out on it directly.
He did a lot to help himself with the 70% non-Bernie contingent of Ds, while everyone else took serious lumps. And Bernie basically called himself out as a communist when he objected to Bloomberg's "cheap shot" about communism (no candidate had been specified, and Bernie jumped right into it).
Despite the NDA thing, it was a very good night for him. He didn't even get that roughed up with the stop and frisk stuff
"the wine moms"
There you go with Chardonnay wisdom
What does the Wine Commonsewer think?
