A 12-Year-Old Girl Pointed Finger Guns at Other Kids. Cops Handcuffed and Arrested Her.
"The safety of our children in school is paramount, today more than ever," said the police chief.

A 12-year-old girl who attends a middle school in Kansas City made her fingers into the shape of a gun and pointed at several of her classmates. These kids had bullied her relentlessly, her mother told The Kansas City Star.
Here's how the authorities at Westridge Middle School handled the incident: School Resource Officer Dana Harrison, the school's police officer, arrested the girl and escorted her off the premises in handcuffs. She was taken to a juvenile detention facility, and will face a felony charge of threatening to commit violence.
"I'm really worried about my granddaughter's future," the girl's grandfather told reporters. He'd been informed, he added, that she could be sentenced to a year in juvenile detention.
According to the police, the girl was asked by another classmate which five people she would like to kill. She then pointed finger guns at several other students—several of whom had picked on her relentlessly, her family claims—and finally on herself.
Neither the school's principal nor the resource officer immediately responded to a request for comment. But other authorities defended their decision to the Kansas City Star.
"The safety of our children in school is paramount, today more than ever," said Overland Park Police Chief Frank Donchez. "We have all seen cases where tragic incidents have occurred, and the first thing people say is, there were signs, why didn't they see the signs?"
A little girl lashing out at kids who were tormenting her is not a "sign" that the school's safety is gravely threatened. If even a small percentage of bullied kids turned into mass shooters, violence in schools would be an epidemic. In reality, it's not: Serious violence in schools remains rare.
These school authority figures—and others in countless districts across the country—clearly have the Parkland shootings in their minds as they overreact to mundane disciplinary issues involving students. The "sign" that something terrible was about to happen in the case of Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz was not that he pointed finger guns at people; it was that he possessed a real gun and had threatened to use it to kill people. And this early indication of his possibly murderous intent did not go unnoticed: Cruz's acquaintances reported him to virtually every agency with authority to act, from the sheriff's office all the way up to the FBI. Parkland is a story, not of common people blindly ignoring some obvious danger, but of stunning incompetence.
What has happened to this Kansas City girl is also a story of government incompetence, albeit of a different sort. As The Kansas City Star reported, the girl is facing a felony charged for making threats. Actually bringing a gun to school would just be a misdemeanor.
When kids fight or threaten each other, the school's job is to teach them better behavior and hand out a punishment that is proportional to the wrongdoing. A 12-year-old girl is a child, still growing and developing. At most she should be clapping erasers or writing an apology essay, not sitting in jail. But the unfortunate truth is that the presence of cops in schools makes it vastly more likely than minor disciplinary matters will be handled by the police—especially during this current, seemingly never-ending moment of hysteria about school violence.

The sheer idiocy of the authorities here is staggering. How can someone like these people be put in charge of anything more important than a flea circus?
Oh, I don’t know – – maybe because fleas have more groups looking out for them than human children?
When I was ten or twelve or so, my friends and I used to chase each other around and point actual plastic toy pistols and submachine guns at each other. They even made “noises” sort of like real guns (if one had some imagination), and I even had one which fired reloadable ammunition (spring-loaded cartridges). Add that to the fact that nearly all of us lived in homes with real, actual firearms, and it must be completely amazing we didn’t all turn into mass murderers, no? I guess if I did that today, I would end up in San Quentin. I am SO glad I am not forced to “grow up” in a place like today.
When I was a kid, we had cap pistols that made a lot of noise and occasionally caught on fire.
Yeah, the cap pistols were cool, actual smoke
We took ours to school and everyone got shot during recess.
I once brought a real pistol to school in the second grade. Really freaked people out. I thought it was just a really cool cap gun. Cops where called. But still I was never arrested or even put on my record (although my dad paddled my butt so hard I couldn’t sit for a week).
I’m not sure I could survive as a kid in this modern era.
first thing people say is, there were signs, why didn’t they see the signs?
Assistant Mechanic: Never heard of no one so shit-all stupid as you drivin’ off that road. You musta got manure for your brains.
Clark: Yeah, well, I’m from out of town.
Lawsuit!
Dudes, this DIDN’T happen in California, or New York, or Vermont, or any lefty place. It happened in Kansas! Fricking Kansas! One of the reddest of the red states.
The insanity knows no partisan boundaries. Instead of fighting over red vs blue, maybe get our own backyards in order before waging kulturwar between colors.
It’s Kansas City Missouri you fucking retard. As in Melissa Click Missouri. As in Hands Up Don’t Shoot Missouri.
The article is wrong. Repeatedly. It’s in Overland Park, not KC.
Well fuck me, we’re both retarded then. The Kansas City Star is out of KC Missouri so I just assumed.
Overland Park is the pearl clutching capital of Kansas though. It’s suburban KC.
It ain’t Wichita or Topeka.
Not red state Missouri, it was in Johnson County, Kansas. Retard. Oh, and you sucked in Cannonball Run II.
This happened in Kansas to a little girl. Lady justice is clearly blind to politics, race, sex, gender, age, etc., when it comes to the 2nd amendment. Even imaginary arms are a threat to the state.
Maybe, as punishment, they can put her to work in a munitions factory polishing the inside of 45 millimeter shell casings.
> Maybe, as punishment, they can put her to work in a munitions factory polishing the inside of 45 millimeter shell casings.
Good honest work that builds character.
>>>One of the reddest of the red states
nope.
well, to the same extent people think about Orange County being red … it’s just not 1988 anymore is all
Compared to neighboring Los Angeles County, Orange County is bright fire engine red!
They call it Red County in GTA. And the cops there are ruthlessly efficient.
So we can nail all the school officials for child endangerment for not stopping the bullies, right?
They will all lose their jobs and be sent to prison, right?
Calling students “bullies” would be hate speech. Especially if they have darker skin than their accusers.
These people are insane.
Future generations will look back our era as a time of madness.
Assuming they are permitted to study history.
Assuming there are future generations.
Only for the next 12 years or less
So when Beto is elected, we will go all Muslim and cut off her hands as a ‘buyback’?
Handjobs hardest hit
She then pointed finger guns at several other students—several of whom had picked on her relentlessly, her family claims—and finally on herself.
The last one is more likely, and she’d be better off with a psych intervention than anything the justice system has to offer.
This from an organization currently in full melt-down because some dude on the internet superimposed Trump and a bunch of media outlets over a shooting scene from a movie.
When was the last time a mass shooter used a finger?
The last time he pulled the trigger?
In Exodus?
It would be fucking hilarious if she actually got her hands on a gun and killed the entire administration staff at the school.
That of course would only play up to expectations, and give creatures like Hogg some relevance to use for a soap box.
The constructive reaction would be for all the parents with kids in the school to pull their kids out and refuse to send them again until all actions against the girl are dropped.
And the bullies expelled.
“We have all seen cases where tragic incidents have occurred, and the first thing people say is, there were signs, why didn’t they see the signs?”
Well, she gave them a “sign,” it was witnessed, and now it’s time to shit their britches and overreact to cover their shitty asses. This is about nothing but fear of reprisal [liability] for “not doing enough.”
Would have been far better, as Unicorn noted above, to deescalate and discretely provide some type of psych intervention to this tormented girl than to go so overboard and make a national story out of it [and completely wreck the girls life in the process]; but we have to remember, we are dealing with a school system here.*
“God made idiots; this was for practice. Then He made school boards.” Mark Twain
this tormented girl
There’s the problem. To offer her help would be to admit that they had been allowing her to be tormented.
The real culprit here is the teacher of the class. She could have defused the situation by telling her that is not a nice thing to do. But, with the leftist culture being propagated by the liberal arts colleges she fell apart and wanted the girl dealt with by somebody with authority. We will see more and more of this teacher stupidity because a teaching certificate is a easy A for most of the incoming idiots coming through the high schools now.
The real culprits are the parents who still send their kids to schools.
So myself and four of my high school friends went to college to study engineering. All but myself switched to education because it was so easy but engineering actually required you to think and study. Now after working 38 weeks a year they retired at 55 with a nice lifetime pension plus free medical insurance.
“We have all seen cases where tragic incidents have occurred, and the first thing people say is, there were signs, why didn’t they see the signs?”
“But, enough about the failed American experiment.”
I won’t know what to think of this until the policeman’s union tells me.
So, that’s the meaning of “finger blast.”
>>Overland Park Police Chief Frank Donchez
is stupid. fact.
Is there a way to point at someone or something with your finger without making your hand vaguely resemble some obscure form of a gun? Seems to me you pretty much have a choice of it looking like an upright gun or sideways ‘gangsta’ style; either way, some twit will think it looks like a gun just like they do if you eat a pop-tart the “wrong” way.
LOL! I would suppose it has to include a ‘trigger pull’ with the index finger or the ‘hammer drop’ with the thumb, otherwise it is just pointing. The thing is, I seriously can’t imagine a twelve-year old girl having the knowledge or the chutzpah to perform either. That kid is gangsta.
Maybe if any of those sensible, responsible adults got their heads out of their asses long enough to stop the fucking bullying, the girl wouldn’t have had an answer when asked about payback scenarios. It’s easier to punish the victim.
I was given 3 “warnings” by a “safety patrol” in elementary school for pointing a finger gun at a fellow student while riding the bus to school. 3 warnings meant I’d get reported (safety patrols are fellow students that are designated snitches – they even wear a special belt with a badge), so I remember telling my mom about it when I got home cause I didn’t feel like I did anything wrong. I was just playing with my friends.
I remember my mom apologizing to me for the idiocy of my school and our society in general, adding “that’s stupid, but I’m afraid some day they’re kids like you might end up getting in major trouble for stuff like this.”
Its only taken about 20 years and here we are. Literal handcuffs. Literal felony charges.
Fucking disgraceful. The cops that arrested this kid should be fired along with school administrators that had a hand in this.
“A 12-year-old girl who attends a middle school in Kansas City made her fingers into the shape of a gun and pointed at several of her classmates. ”
I don’t know, was this a high capacity semi-auto finger gun or a revolver finger gun? Did the 12-year-old have a license to carry the finger gun? So many questions.
Can you imagine the trauma of being handcuffed and arrested at age 12 for not doing anything wrong? She didn’t threaten anybody, because fingers do not fire bullets. Rather the police threatened her with a year in juvenile detention. How well do you think that she will sleep while this matter is pending? Sick, sick, sick.
Thoughtcrime.
She pointed out who she wanted to kill when asked.
And I guarantee that the teacher thinks of herself as a hero
On the plus side, she will never again trust the government.
And, to booster that, kids who are victims of this kind of adult insanity should get a one-year free subscription to Reason. 🙂
How ’bout a scholarship to a private school or home school program?
“The safety of our children in school is paramount, today more than ever,”
So by arresting her you protected everyone just in case she decided to unload her “finger gun”. Are you shitting me??? What the fuck is wrong with people in this country and their obsession with safety going so far as this???
If the school doesn’t protect kids that bully other kids, who will?
So let me get this right: We’re supposed to be against bullying, but not try to do anything about it or even vent our frustration about it?
When I was in grade school that finger gun pointing was just about every recess and non of us was ever arrested. The thing is that most of the students had access to guns at home.
Strange as it seams very few of these students grew up to be killers.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shut up!!!! Allllllllllllllllllllllllll ‘mass shootings’ since sandy hook have been fakkkkeee!!! Noooo one has died!!!! Alot of police are on georger soros’s national police payroll!!!!
This is a great thing, I think everyone feels this information is very valuable, thank you candy crush soda
