The Newest Drama Between Donald Trump and Paul Ryan
The infamous feud between the president and the former House speaker gets new light...and a tweet from Mitt Romney.

A new book excerpt has stirred up a new fight between President Trump and former House Speaker Paul Ryan.
Politico's Tim Alberta will release his new book, "American Carnage," next week. The book advertises a front-row seat to some D.C. drama. Namely, the "Republican Civil War" in the face of Trump's presidency. For example, readers can follow the reactions to the release of Trump's controversial "Access Hollywood" tapes, both by his high-profile campaign staff and party leaders.
According to The Washington Post, the book details some of Ryan's thoughts about Trump's preparedness for public office.
"I told myself I gotta have a relationship with this guy to help him get his mind right," Ryan was quoted. "Because, I'm telling you, he didn't know anything about government…I wanted to scold him all the time."
The book also suggested that Ryan's decision to not seek reelection in the 2018 midterms was an "escape hatch" from his highly contentious relationship with the president. A spokesperson for Ryan denied this claim, saying that Ryan retired "because he wanted to spend more time being a father and a husband."
In response, the president tweet-blasted Ryan over his past leadership and vice-presidential run on the failed 2012 Mitt Romney ticket.
Paul Ryan, the failed V.P. candidate & former Speaker of the House, whose record of achievement was atrocious (except during my first two years as President), ultimately became a long running lame duck failure, leaving his Party in the lurch both as a fundraiser & leader……

Trump also tweeted that Ryan failed to secure funding to build a southern border wall while Republicans controlled both chambers of Congress.
….When Mitt chose Paul I told people that's the end of that Presidential run. He quit Congress because he didn't know how to Win. They gave me standing O's in the Great State of Wisconsin, & booed him off the stage. He promised me the Wall, & failed (happening anyway!)……
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 12, 2019
….He had the Majority & blew it away with his poor leadership and bad timing. Never knew how to go after the Dems like they go after us. Couldn't get him out of Congress fast enough!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 12, 2019
"He quit Congress because he didn't know how to Win," Trump said of Ryan.
Romney responded to at least one of Trump's claims by tweeting support for Ryan. "The fault for our 2012 loss is mine alone," he wrote on Friday.
Trump was still defensive on Friday afternoon when he told the press that Ryan was a "terrible Speaker" and a "baby."

>>>he didn't know anything about government
the dude running the show. this from the dude spending time with his family.
the dude running the show....
Who might be "running the show", Dillinger? Do you sincerely think that it is President Trump?
Q?
The Deep State ruling class believe that only they have the knowledge and wisdom to make the right choices, whether for you or government.
They are a menace.
Not knowing anything about how Washington works was kind of the reason Trump was elected. Unfortunately, knowing your enemy is Rule 1 and Trump doesn't appear to have learned a damn thing. Draining the swamp with a teaspoon ain't gonna get it, 99% of the swamp dwellers are still there and just waiting out the fatheaded, thin-skinned little whiner.
I would remind Mr Ryan that the reason they lost is that the electorate was sold on Mr Romney's extreme conservatism. In other words he (and John McCain in 2008) were too far right for the country according to the Obama Democrats. Even though they were fairly moderate run of the mill milquetoast Republicans.
So if he's feeling uneasy about why Mr Trump was elected, it has a lot to do with the way Republicans campaigned for two election cycles, the way they allowed themselves to be painted by the disingenuous Democrats, and the need sometimes for the electorate to punch back. Also because Hillary Clinton was one of the worst campaigners and far too corrupt even compared to Donald Trump.
Romney and Ryan were the Washington Generals to the Democrats as the Harlem Globetrotters. Their job as to put on a show and lose.

Stop giving these two goobers any more attention than they deserve.
O/T: (because this article's topic is pretty stupid)

Evidently, Congress is about to make copyright even worse.

Only government could fuck up the internet.
It's time for a new internet.
Ironic since government founded the internet.
Don't you mean funded? Since ARPA contracted BBN to invent the first switch.
I thought Ryan would be head of the US Chamberpot of Commerce by now.
Romney and Ryan were part of the problem. Who cares if they're supermad.

The being gone from politics is a good thing for America. And yes I know Romney is a Senator from Utah. Gone....
Romney and Ryan being supermad is like the Neocons being supermad - good for Republicans and America.
I agree. They're both RINOs, making promises they never intended to keep. Ryan saw that Trump would force him to vote on bills fulfilling their promises, like repealing Obamacare. How's a RINO going to fight that, except by showing the people who voted for them, that they're a bunch of liars.
Seems to me Ryan resigned to maintain some semblance of his reputation. But he quit, so he should shut up.
My guess is that easily a thousand times more people read Trump's tweets than read any of Teddy Roosevelt's histories, or Eisenhower's memoirs, proof of the vast superiority of Twitter as a literary form.
In fact, the only way you can find a president whose work is more widely read, you'd have to accept the authenticity of the graffiti George Washington supposedly wrote in his Mount Vernon outhouse.
What a sorry sight I gaze upon

I am shocked how few Trump haters have read the Art of the Deal. It lays out Trump’s strategies to own the Lefties.
Some douche from Politico releases a book and Libertarians are supposed to care...why?
You staff and your TDS.
Its cool though. Nothing like pushing more and more Libertarians to support Trump through his 2nd Presidential term.
Reason's pants shitting hysteria over Trump was what initially pushed me in Trump's direction.
There were plenty of people saying "Stop making me defend Trump!"
Yup. I post #MAGA just to infuriate the Lefties that visit here.
A prime example is reason doing a full spread on almost every non-Trump presidential candidate who announced so far. It doesn't matter how outrageous the candidate, most are getting a who's-who rundown for even candidates completely ignored by the MSM.
Trump gets nothing like that. Pence doesn't either. Of course, these two and particularly Trump get weekly TDS articles but that is not the same thing. One article describing Trump's qualities and failures and why he would make a good for vote for some Americans and Libertarians and not for others.
Maybe they will do that on Monday Nov. 2, 2020.
They pretend that George Will or Bill Weld are relevant to the country...largely (hell, ONLY) because they bitch about Trump.
Can America Afraid due to Russia Interference in Iran. Russia steady gives support to Iran against United State pressure. America wants from Iran to withdraw your plan to generate uranium for making nuclear weapons. But Iran has not been able to increase uranium production

Oh, I'm the cult of personality
As a Wisconsinite I am sad to see the fate of Paul Ryan. While I disagreed with him on many issues, he was a very smart person with a great potential. He failed to live up to that potential and will likely go down as one of the worst Speakers. He simply failed to hold his caucus in line and to challenge President Trump when necessary. I am not suggesting that he go to war with the TP or Trump, just that he should have stood up occasionally and forced a few tough votes. He needed to do that to establish his authority as Speaker.
Concur somewhat with you. Agree that Paul Ryan has a brain, and is very, very sharp. I always liked him. I thought his papers on addressing SSA, Medicare were quite do-able (at that time). The jury is out on how he did as Speaker.
He had an impossible task, just like his predecessor. He was the compromise Speaker. The ideologues in the 'R' Party just refused to compromise when it was needed. And not doing the wall was legislative malpractice, IMO.
I only wish he (and others) would practice the 11th commandment.
"Speaker Paul Ryan is a truly good man, and while he will not be seeking re-election, he will leave a legacy of achievement that nobody can question. We are with you Paul!" Trump wrote.
Guess he took his prozac that morning.
nice i really like this article
