Brickbat: It's All Academic

The University of Central Lancashire, a public university in England, has suspended student Sebastian Walsh for the remainder of the academic year for making a "series of offensive and inappropriate comments" in class. In a letter to Walsh, the school claimed he said: "that the country is Islamified; that people who do not speak English should not be 'paid for' because this is our country; and 'that the practice of halal food is disgusting and barbaric'; and that you would have to kill yourself if you ever ate halal meat." Walsh, who is a member of the UKIP Party, says he said he would not eat at restaurants that serve halal meat because he considers the way that they slaughter the animals to be barbaric and he thinks the acceptance of halal meats is contributing the the Islamization of the country.

PETA agrees.
Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail.

I am also a Person who Eats tasty Animals.
He's got a point about the halal slaughter. Kosher slaughter isn't great either. Hangovers from ancient times when such methods would have practical implications for food hygeine/longevity?
No, just that until recent time it was the most humane way to kill a large animal.
Humans always project ideas of "humane killing" onto animals.
As if humans actually know what animals think is the best way to die.
The Animal Kingdom kills animals via predator, natural event, disease, or natural death.
Locking a conscious cow into a large rotating drum, curting it's throat, then rotating it as it bleeds out to ensure maximum drainage. Commercial Kosher slaughter. I agree "humane slaughter" is kind of an oxymoron, but is it totally irrational to consider making slaughter as quick and painless as possible?
These 'rules' were written thousands of years ago. Food safety was passed family to family with mixed results but most people killed and ate their food that day or salted/cured it for not too long in the future.
I get the reason for Judaism rules back then and they obviously worked well.
Modern animal prep and storage for food works well too.
One of the reason that I am a Libertarian, I don't care what people eat, ingest, or do sexually. These anti-meat people are getting stronger in their SJW desire to stop people eating meat. Even some meat eaters want the animal to die a quick death, so the old religious ways to kill animals are just not going to be universally popular among meat eaters.
According to Wikipedia: "The animal may be stunned prior to having its throat cut. The UK Food Standards Agency figures from 2011 suggest that 84% of cattle, 81% of sheep and 88% of chickens slaughtered for halal meat were stunned before they died."
Although that's only in govt inspected and licensed slaughterhouses, no?
I am earn with Google, Im making over $2000 a month operating low maintenance. So has he learned his lesson? Then the university has done its job.
Yes, the university has erased ALL of his prejudiced and biased thoughts away! He will NEVER think or say ANYTHING like this again!
'Cause all those folks with fancy degrees and shit, they are WAY smarter than you and me, they are like magic!!!!
I'm guessing the university is already one long and expensive diversity training course.
Can't help wondering what would have happened if a Muslim student there had spoken out about a Christian practice. For example, say he complained that alcoholic beverages being pervasive in the culture was contributing to the cultures infidel status (infidelity?). Would a suspension follow? At some point, you've got to let people express their opinions and just let it go.
When I was a kid, I remember learning that opionions are like asses. Everyone has one, and some of them stink, but it's best to just accept it.
The UK is 87% white. The race apocalypse is a while off.
Oh Tony, tell everyone the stats on how the British government has flooded Garbage Island with people who don't even like Brits. Put some UK crime stats down while you're at it.
The violent crime rate is four times worse in the US than the UK.
Your citation fell off.
So did yours. All of yours. Try to keep up with yourself.

Poor alphabet troll, trying to protect Tony from evil requests for citations.
Poor constitutional troll: can't get the year right, can't get citations right, can't even troll right.
Alphabet troll has signaled for trolls to swarm.
Swarm!
I get the old ways of eating before modern refrigeration and science of disease but most Kosher and Halal dietary rules are just an overkill for modern humans.
Halal
Kosher
Nobody's forcing you to eat that way.
Nobody is forcing you to eat dick either...but you do.
All together now... because I like it, and I don't care what you think.
Oh Tony, of course you care what I think. Its why you follow me around the Reason comments.
Yeah basically, and you made a good point above about "humane" slaughter.
Its like the SPCA people who call this and that "animal cruelty" but spaying and neutering is NOT animal cruelty to them.
As a male in the human species, involuntarily cutting my balls off would absolutely be cruel to me.
Well right, but the problem with cats is they will actually reproduce. While you're both too stupid to successfully navigate life's challenges without an inordinate amount of suffering, the cat's incessant howling can be mitigated by a quick and painless surgical procedure.
(this is the part where you reply in third person with wild assumptions meant to maintain that last shred of your irrationally held self confidence: "Poor 0x1000, can't even?")
See...this troll is like the stupid people that talk like that.
There is an intriguing question in there about who gets paid when something is certified as halal. And we're talking about a lot more than just meat at a dedicated Islamic butcher.
Here's a story about Kellogg's and Nestle paying halal fees for cereal and chocolate bars. You subsidize those fees when you buy their products.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/new.....-fees.html
When a non-Muslim purchases food that's certified as halal on the label, whom are they subsidizing for that certification? Those certifications aren't free. Where does the money go?
Supposedly in the US the cost is miniscule to large producers of Kosher products. I think most certified Kosher products meet standards to be considered Halal. Of course they benefit from economies of scale, so I suspect the costs might be significant to smaller producers.
But like anything else, government seems to want to get their cut:
"In some European communities there is a special tax imposed[by whom?] on the purchase of kosher meat to help support the community's educational institutions.[dubious ? discuss][108] In 2009 delegates at a meeting of the Rabbinical Council of Europe broadly agreed that the tax which supports the rabbinate, mikvo'os and other communal facilities should be reduced. "While the supermarket Tesco sells a whole chicken for ?2, its kosher counterpart of similar weight costs five to six times more."[109]"
The question isn't whether the cost is minuscule to food producers. The question is whether average Americans realize that buy buying breakfast cereal, they may subsidizing madrasas all over the world.
Who gets the money? Where does the money go?
