Is South Park Postmodern?: Podcast
Andrew Heaton, host of Something's Off, interviews Nick Gillespie about the much-loved, much-hated term.

Former Reason TV staffer (and continuing contributor) Andrew Heaton now hosts Something's Off for The Blaze. He had me on to talk about postmernism and what I argue is its affinity with libertarian ideas about knowledge, society, and culture. It's fun, wide-ranging conversation. Here's his writeup:
What is Postmodernism and why do so many people loathe it? Reason's Nick Gillespie joins Heaton to explain what postmodernism is, where it's useful and when it's asinine, and the many instances where postmodernism has spread through American culture.

What is Postmodernism and why do so many people loathe it?
Oh my God.
it's like have you not seen one Jordan Peterson video. Just one?
They dance around a lot of the negative (to me) aspects of postmodernism here, like its view on human nature and power... its association with deconstruction and post-structuralism.
Does he also explain punk music and how relevant it is for kids today
Marilyn Manson isn't punk.
we all gotta duck when the shit hits the fan.
Social security has run out for you and me.
But we just get by the best that we can
I tried watching a couple episodes of South Park and I just didn't find it funny. Maybe the earlier episodes are better. I think I was only 2 or 3 years old when it premiered so I might have missed the "golden age."
Seth McFarlane's animated shows are much smarter and funnier from what I've seen.
OMG he finally broke character.
No. This one is just more subtle than most
But they're never subtle...
Remember that the OBL character is motivated by glib butthurt.
Praising the liberal McFarlane over the libertarian Parker and Stone? Perfectly in character for OBL, especially if their favorite of the four cartoons is American Dad.
(P.S.: I'd guess it would be The Cleveland Show, because of its' accurate depiction of the life a middle-class African-American family.)
Yeah, I chuckled. OBL has been on form recently.
It's a christmas miracle!
>>>I might have missed the "golden age."
South Park hasn't missed in years ... if ever.
A+ progressive
...I just didn't find it funny...
Yeah, you're just being contrarian. Maybe Parker and Stone will make an episode about contrarian douchebags, oh wait they already have several times over.
Is that what you don't find it funny? But they will call your stupidity out for what it is?
South Park? They're still on the air?
I very much enjoy the South Park. It is the chronicle of our time.
Archduke Gillespie should be his official moniker from now on.
Also "Peterson is on the Right".
Jordan Peterson was once the chair of the student wing of the New Democratic Party. In Canada you don't get a party farther left than they are.
Really?

Okay, a party that's ever had a member elected then.
Still, there's not really much difference between communists and the NDP.
I WAS ON SOUTH PARK!
