Kamala Harris Builds Anti-Prosecutor Strawman at CNN Townhall
Unsurprisingly, a lot of Democrats and media lapped it up.

Sen. Kamala Harris' bid to charm liberal voters and press with last night's televised townhall seems to have worked. Many mainstream media outlets and progressive commentators are singing the California Democrat's praises for uttering magical incantations like "Medicare for All," invoking criminal justice buzzwords (like bodycams) when asked to defend her prosecutorial record, and taking swipes at President Donald Trump.
Once again, Harris tried to strawman her way out of addressing her record as a prosecutor, positioning critiques as the angry and incoherent rants of people who just hate law enforcement and can't be pleased. "Some believe prosecutors should not exist. I will never satisfy them," she told Jake Tapper. "Do I wish I could do more? I do."
Once again, Harris sounds a lot like President Donald Trump, whose go-to response when confronted with people acting against him or his supporters is to portray those people as crazed and lawless anarchists. In this way, both politicians can feign taking issues seriously while casting off any blame as the muttering of discontents that all serious people are above.
Did @KamalaHarris just make @jaketapper move on? Great, light moment in #CNNTownHall as Jake jokes about the tough former prosecutor sitting next to him
—Kyung Lah (@KyungLahCNN) January 29, 2019
Unsurprisingly, a lot of Democratic drones on Twitter lapped Harris' performance right up, applauding her for addressing her record "directly and head on" (as CNN political reporter Kyung Lah put it).
Ultimately, what matters to most Democrats and the media establishment is that Harris makes the right broad progressive gestures. And she did, criticizing Trump forcefully ("Kamala Harris is getting the loudest applause when she lays into Trump, calling his wall a 'medieval vanity project,'" pointed out Playboy Washington Correspondent Alex Thomas), contrasting herself with him on things like immigration policy ("Note that @KamalaHarris leapt to her feet when a dreamer questioner said she didn't want to be used as a bargaining chip," cooed CNN's Maeve Reston), and nodding to ideas like government-run health care and middle-class tax cuts.
Which is to say: We should all be afraid. Tell people you're going to make their insurance cheaper and their tax refunds larger and most could care less how many poor parents you wanted to throw in jail, how many dirty cops you defended, how many sex workers' lives you've endangered, how many people you've helped imprison on drug charges, how many immigrants you've turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), how many people's due process rights you've trampled, or how many "criminals" you wanted to use for slave labor. To the tribalists and "pragmatists" and a whole lot of others, these aren't unacceptable compromises or even worrying indicators of authoritarian impulses, but nonentities.
In many ways, Trump has allowed Democrats to veer back to the right on criminal justice issues, after a very short flirtation with reform during the Obama years. This momentum, the high-profile activism surrounding Michael Brown's shooting in Ferguson, and the ascendancy of the Black Lives Matter movement, helped make Hillary Clinton's tough-on-crime past at least a little bit of a liability in 2016. But even as more activists, sex workers, socialists, independent-leaning leftists, libertarians, and other niche groups call out Harris on her record—one much worse than Clinton's on this front—I fear that it will have much less of an impact this go around. All Harris (or any Democrat with a crooked cop past like hers) has to do is invoke the comparatively stupefying specter of more Trump or contrast their "good" tough-on-crime policies with his more dramatic plans, and suddenly '90s crime panic attitudes are rendered middle ground again.

Trump will give a State of the Union address on February 5.
Will he see his shadow? (Close enough.)
Hello.
"I glow like the sun, so I never cast a shadow. You stand next to me, your going to be brighter than ever. Before. Your welcome."
-Trump, probably
Wrong. I have the best shadows. Big, beautiful, the darkest. No one creates shadows like me. Ask Mike Pence, he's been stuck in there for two years.
Your welcome
Open your eyes, let's begin
Yes, it's really me, it's Trump, breathe it in

Yes you're staring at your orange-god

Gosh I hope he does.

So?
Sen. Kamala Harris' bid to charm liberal press and voters with last night's televised townhall seems to have worked.
This could have gone either way, but if they've picked their horse she's not getting any more questions on her prosecutorial record.
poor warren, not bernie enough and not kamala enough
That 1/1024 AmerIndian blood will allow her to scalp her opponents in the Democrat Primaries.
She's being cast as Obama with a cooter and is tailor-made for today's Democrats--someone who checks off the non-white person box, is female too boot, and mouths enough Clintonite platitudes to get the party's power elite behind her, while showing herself to be completely clueless about anything related to economics.
Unlike Obama, she's a remarkably stupid person, but no one in the media will really go toe-to-toe with her because they're afraid of being labeled racists whenever she pulls out her "sassy black woman" minstrel show.
Obama with a cooter
Nice band name.
Cooter under pressure
If the press gets behind her the way they got behind Clinton, I think we can safely assume the press has decided they get better ratings with Trump in office than they otherwise would.
If Kamala Harris had a son, he might have looked like Jeff Sessions.
Beautiful. (The comment, I mean.)

I was told Shreek/Palin/ whatever or whoever he was was banned. I didn't see it happen and have no idea if it is true or how it happened if it is true. But he does seem to be gone and the board is much better for it. Tony is annoying, nasty and nuerotic but he is a typical Prog and there is nothing wrong with that being represented. Shreek was always just a freek and a troll. Good riddence.

I'm surprised the ban actually stuck, considering he admitted to using burner email accounts.
I am as well. But he has seemed to have disapeared.
He'll probably be back. I think I saw some variation of Sarah Palin''s Buttplug for a bit after he disappeared, but maybe that got banned too. Unless he's dead or otherwise incapacitated, I'm sure he'll be back.

Trump signed the first real prison reform in my lifetime. What exactly is the "spector of more Trump" that justifies putting one of the most notorously corrupt and fanatical AGs in America into the White House?
Ahem... "AsG"
Wasn't the federal sentence guidelines changed under Obama as well? I remember that crack sentences changed to mirror cocaine sentencing min/max. That this go around (under Trump) made those changes retroactive (along with a host of other changes).
Obama stopped sentencing people more harshly for crack than for powder cocaine. It was a nice change but it was not nearly as significant as the recent prison reform law.

Nato nations increasing defense spending by $100 billion after Trump called them deliquents. Geting Western Europe to rearm and be able to defend itself better is just what a Russian agent would do as President.
Problem is because the EU are passive-aggressive cucks swinging around small cocks, they're gonna use it against each other. Heaven forbid they clean up the 'no go zones' mess. Anyway, if you pay attention, Germany and France want an EU army all the while there's a splinter faction forming against that with Poland, Hungary and Italy. Add the Brits in full blown 'we have to destroy democracy to save it' with the way they're treating the Brexit result and we have a recipe for 'We didn't mean to do it because we're appeasing idiots but it happened goulash'. I call it 'Wha happened Goulash'.
I could be wrong.
European nations showing the world just how to killing is done would be a return to normalcy in many ways.
Trump may have done them a favour but maybe they didn't want to look into that mirror, eh?

"youth jails have hit 'American' levels of disproportionality."
Or "youth jails have hit American 'levels of disproportionality'."
The sollution to this is the Kamela Harris "throw the parents in jail with the kids" plan.
For all the talk of Trump playing chess... is this what it looks like when he actually does?
The Democratic pants wetting over Schultz is quite entertaining. Suddenly billionaires running for office as independents is bad for democracy. They seemed to have a different opinion of such campaigns back when Ross Perot was running for President. Has something changed since then?
The steaks have never been higher!
Marijuana marinate?
America already has that!
Henry Kissinger is still alive?!
Egging him on is more for entertainment than it is a chess match. Trump would love nothing more than to watch that moron spend a bunch of money and fail to even get to the primary debates. As would I.
If the Democrats run a lunatic like Harris or Bernie, which seems like a good bet, Schultz would attract significant support from suburban Democrats who hate Trump but don't want to vote for crazy. If he even won 10% of the vote and took most of it from the Democratic nominee, the Democrats would be doomed in 2020.
To the uniformed Harris will look somewhat middle of the road. The media will make sure of it. But if it's Bernie that pulls ahead I don't think its out of the question that democrats find Schultz a place on stage.
Plus, the more Democrat primary opponents, the more split Democrat donor money is.
Hillary had a real financial problem because Bernie would not kick in his campaign money to cover her debts. The DNC pretty much was bankrupt after election 2016.
Trump self-financed and then when he won the GOP Primary, had money pour into just his campaign. Avoiding that problem.
IIRC, political campaigns cannot just shift money around per FEC rules.
I suspect, Trump was well briefed on this aspect since Mueller never got shit on Trump in this regard. Everyone knew that the Stormy payout was not illegal.
"Plus, the more Democrat primary opponents, the more split Democrat donor money is"
This is true. But you know that they'll be sure to give billions in free campaign contributions like they did, seemingly accidentally, to Trump.
But I say the more morons fighting to out-socialist each other, the better
I agree Trump's just having a little fun with him but since Schultz is running independent I don't see why any party would invite him to a primary debate.
I'm no pro at this sort of thing but I imagine if Bernie pulls ahead there will be a ton of donors begging the democrats to include Schultz.

"Numerous states introducing Bible Literacy classes, giving students the option of studying the Bible. Starting to make a turn back? Great!"
The Bible has, by far, been the most influential work on both western and American culture, and no one should consider themselves educated if they aren't at least somewhat familiar with it.
Incidentally, it's also a good idea to teach kids how to swim and a second language.
Q: What do you call someone who is fluent in three or more languages?
A: Multilingual.
Q: What do you call someone who is fluent in two languages?
A: Bilingual.
Q: What do you call someone who can only speak one language?
A: American.
it's also a good idea to teach kids how to swim
Careful, Ken. This is how Brokaw got into trouble.
Some of the most errudite and intelligent people in history recieved their primary education by learning the bible. Whatever you think of its theology, it is an amazing collection of insights into the human condition. Everyone who claims to be educated should read and understand the Bible, the Greek Tragedies and Homeric Epics, the Roman historians, Shakespeare.
I am fine with the Bible being studied as literature.
I never understood why people don't want to study it. I am not a Hindu but I still read the Bagavad Ghita. Some people are just Philistines.
"'Holy Scriptures' are an invention of the Devil!"
Sure but the Book of Mormon and the Koran are not interesting reading anyway. The Devil may be a man of wealth and taste but he cannot write.
I always liked some good Fiction.
Seriously though, it reads like a history book and people should know the basics of history.
Humans really do make some of the same major mistakes over and over.
It's highly instructive to read Christ's message of peace, love, and forgiveness, and compare and contrast it to Muhammad's message that everyone who doesn't follow him should be enslaved or killed.
Thanks for your approval, Uncle Chipper.
I had a copy of the Book of Mormon. It was Jesus' adventures in North America.
The pre-Colombian civilizations riding horses is funny.
Beautiful color plates of the epic inside of it.
Too bad they ate them all to extinction before they could ride them.
There are so many holes in people's knowledge if they don't know . . .
How do you teach the art history of the Renaissance if students don't have any context for what that art is about?
It's the same thing with music, literature, and, yeah, history.
The Reformation was kind of important.
Maybe the reason we get a skewed story of colonialism from the perspective of the locals is because it's hard to make sense of the colonizers if we can't teach what that religion was about.
In college, there were people who read Achebe's "Things Fall Apart" in my class and were convinced it was a condemnation of colonialism. I suspected they assumed this because he's Nigerian, but for goodness' sake, we read the freaking text! I think they were just ignorant of Christianity, almost entirely, and they couldn't recognize something they'd never seen before.
Here's my analogy: Teaching western culture to people who don't know anything about the stories in the Bible is like teaching optical physics to someone who's color blind and can only see in black and white. How do you expect them to really understand what red is like?
Meanwhile, if the only way kids can become sufficiently familiar with the stories of the Bible is through the snake handlers at church, then we've got an irrational hole in our education system. No wonder atheists run around saying so many ridiculous things! Maybe they don't know what they're talking about.
One of the challanges with learning and understanding history is you learn different subjects in their own lane. You learn music history by itself and art history and military history and so forth all in different books at different times. And it is a real challange to put them together and understand them in context. Small things like gee how did Hayden end up in England? Because he worked for George I who was German and became King of England. Why was the Baroque so graphic and dark? Because it was the Church's artistic response to the Reformation. Putting everything together is really a challange.
The other problem is that the popular understanding of major events and periods is often hugely influenced by one or two seminal works written at the time or shortly after that are not always right. For example, any high school history book account of the Rennasaince is going to rely heavily on The Lives of the Artists by Georgio Vasari, whether the author knows it or not. Vasari was a groupie of Michaelangelo and a Florintine and created the entire myth that Rennasaince art was the result of Italian geniuses rediscovering the ideals of antiquity. And that is a load of horse shit. Rennasaince art includes a lot of art from north of the Alps that predates what happened in Italy and was not a recreation of the glory of Rome. But it makes a great story to say it was and fed the Florintine nationalism of Vasari. So that is what people think.
Can you send me some cites on that? I read a lot about that period and never really heard that one. Explain what you mean?
Everyone went to Italy for a three hundred year period for a reason. England imported Italian writers, artists, architects, cooks to 'modernize' itself much like the French did in the 18th century for Europe. It's where everything was happening. It's where Europe learned a lot. What took place in Renaissance Italy propelled Europe into still another trajectory. I guess they call it the Northern/High Renaissance.
But I agree with the premise. You can't, for example, understand the Founding Fathers without understanding the so-called Enlightenment, and still more, Christianity.
Do you mean stuff like oil painting techniques derived from Holland that was imported into Italy?
Partially yes.
The citation is from a lot of places. I would first point you to the Flemish Primitives, people like Van Eck. They predated the Italians by almost a hundred years and bring just as much or more realism and perspective than any of the Italians did. They just get ignored because the Italians wrote the history. I would also point to Medieval Art in general. The conventional history says that it wasn't realistic and lacked the skill of antiquity. That is just wrong. Look at the German woodcarvings of the high middle ages. Look at sculpture found in the Gothic Cathedrals. People look at the doodles in the great manuscripts and think that was the entirety of medieval art. It wasn't.
Also, the great Italian artists like Leonardo and Michelangelo were all serious Catholics and mystics. I love them as much as anyone. But they are not classical. There is nothing Roman about the look of horror on man's face as he looks into the abyss in the Sistine Chapel. There is nothing Roman about Leonardo's Madonna of the Rocks. To say it was just a rediscovery of classical beauty is selling it and the classical world way short.
There is a BBC guy named Waldemar Januszczak whose films on the Rennasaince really opened my eyes to this.
"I would first point you to the Flemish Primitives, people like Van Eck. They predated the Italians by almost a hundred years "
That's not really accurate. Van Eyck was born in the late 1300's, a period during which Italian Renaissance was fully in swing.
Italian Ranaissance
"Italian Renaissance painting is the painting of the period beginning in the late 13th century and flourishing from the early 15th to late 16th centuries"
Most art historians recognize Van Eyck's importance, but he didn't predate the Italians, he is recognized for his mastery of the new medium of oil painting.
Also, regarding the Flemish Primitives, your dates are quite a bit off.
Flemish Primitives
"Early Netherlandish painting is the work of artists, sometimes known as the Flemish Primitives, active in the Burgundian and Habsburg Netherlands during the 15th- and 16th-century Northern Renaissance, especially in the flourishing cities of Bruges, Ghent, Mechelen, Louvain, Tournai and Brussels, all in present-day Belgium. The period begins approximately with Robert Campin and Jan van Eyck in the 1420s and lasts at least until the death of Gerard David in 1523"
Van Eck died in 1441, nine years before Leonardo was born and 34 years before Michealangelo was born. He absolutely predates the Italians.
He predates THOSE Italians, but as I demonstrated they were mid-period Renaissance painters.
By the way, for future reference, John is arguing with actual citations.
Like, did you not even read the citations? Or did you just decide the Italian Renaissance began with Leonardo and Michelangelo?
And he be wrong. I think the 'Northern' thing is over played here. Sure there was good stuff going on but dude, Italy took it to a whole new level.
There was also Giotto, Cimabue, Lorenzetti and a bunch of others in the 14th century. Dutch masters didn't come until much later. There's a reason why the greatest paintings in history are dominated by Italians.
https://amzn.to/2MITUlK
"They predated the Italians by almost a hundred years and bring just as much or more realism and perspective than any of the Italians did."
They? Who exactly predated Brunelleschi because nowhere in his writings does he credit the Dutch and they usually were good about those things. Galileo for example with Copernicus.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filippo_Brunelleschi
So there were Dutch/Northern painters doing perspective before the 14th century?
I know there's a bit of a chauvinistic angle from Northern historians towards Italy but isn't this a stretch?
I shouldn't say 'he be wrong'. I have to read it.
I'll say it. John and the guy he's touting are wrong.
They as in the Flemish Primitives. And the Italians wrote them out of history and took credit for the entire thing.
Lol ok. The entirety of the world was in on it I guess. It's not like the Italians were the only documentarians of the time.
Yeah, because once a myth is adopted it sticks.
Aieeee mo!
The greatest historians of the period were actually....British.
I love you John but you need more bruschetta in your diet. Lol.
I liked those shows. He's a good presenter.
Rufus, remember that the Catholic Church was the propagandist over multiple Centuries.
The Church tried for Centuries to squash any artistic dissent that did not comply with Church Dogma.
Then turning on a dime, the Church is the purveyor Enlightenment? There is more too it.
There is no Enlightenment without Christianity.
I know it's more to it but that's the gist.
I almost became a history teacher recently. The emphasis of teaching history in the middleschool and high school level is on providing multicultural perspectives, and not on following any theme. As a result, it's a massive jumble.
You attempt to explain that Alexander the Great's conquests resulted in the broad dissemination of Greek ideas, especially the works of Plato and Aristotle, which became hugely influential in theories of government through the Middle East and Europe...and then you have to jump to talk about Subsaharan Africa, which has no continuity to that and were often isolated up until about 1500 years ago. Then you need to talk about Chin and Confucianism, and also the spread of Buddhism...then you finally jump back to Europe and you're supposed to deliver a couple days talking about the spread of Christianity and the sense of continuity with the Roman Empire. That's right before you jump into Islam and the spread of Islamic dynasties.
As a result, none of them ever get the idea of a cohesive theory of government. They actually teach Civics/US government around here as a 9th grade course, before world history, so they're being told about John Locke without any context for the world Locke lived in. The same for Thomas Hobbes. There might be a passing mention of Montesqueiu, but without knowing about Louis XIV and the context of European debates about power and agency, it makes no sense to them.
Same reason why the Founders' fear of a big central government and unrestrained Democracy makes no sense if you don't understand that they were only a 125 or so years removed from the English Civil War and Cromwell's tyranny.
Which is why we're getting back to a world where people often think the problem is that the government doesn't have ENOUGH power, not that it has too much. But Europe already tried that experiment, thoroughly. Europe thought, "Well, if we get the RIGHT dictators, it really works." But even Frederick the Great, or Catherine the Great, or Joseph II...in the end it's not a proper theory of government because they have almost unchecked power but the limits of being only a single person.
The failure of those monarchs, even though they were often respected for enlightened ideals, is what led a lot of Enlightenment scholars to start questioning, "What is government and why do we need it?" Similar to questions Plato was asking in "The Republic."
Shocked that they even teach Civics anymore.
It sounds like the definite goal is to mitigate the success of the American version of a Constitutional Democratic Republic.
Actually, the answer to your last query is 'monolingual'. A term that fits places other than America far better than it could ever fit a polyglot nation with no nationally mandated language.
But we allow people so provincial that they start generational wars over differences in the wording of the mass to pretend that they are more urbane than we. It keeps them sitting smugly in their dying nations.
It's an old joke!
"American" was the punch line.

President Donald Trump, whose go-to response when confronted with people acting against him or his supporters is to portray those people as crazed and lawless anarchists.
As a crazed anarchist sometimes-Trump supporter I'd like a few examples, please.
I guess I can accept Reason criticizing Kamala Harris at this early stage. She's still not the nominee after all. Maybe you can make a case there's a candidate who would be better for us libertarians.
But if Reason continues attacking her after she's secured the Democratic nomination, I might have to find a new favorite website.

"Another side of #MeToo: Male managers fearful of mentoring women"
[...]
""Basically, #MeToo has become a risk-management issue for men," said Laura Liswood, secretary-general of the Council of Women World Leaders, an organisation for former and current female political leaders.
It's a problem many have acknowledged. Last February, two online surveys by Lean In and SurveyMonkey on the effects of #MeToo in the workplace found that almost half of male managers were uncomfortable engaging in one or more common work activities with women, such as working one on one or socialising.
One in six male managers was uncomfortable mentoring a female colleague, according to the studies, which together surveyed nearly 9,000 adults employed in the United States."

I am willing to admit my dislike of her politics makes my opinion biased. But, Kamilla Harris seems every bit as dislikeable as Hillary Clinton. The one thing I will say for Occasional Cortex is that she is a likeable person if you put aside her idiotic politics. I could see having a pleasent conversation with AOC if it didn't involve politics. I can't see ever having any kind of pleasent interaction with Harris. She just seems like a nasty unpleasent bully. See seems more unpleasent than even Warren. Warren is the old lady next door who is always reporting you to the homeowners association. Harris is the nasty bitch who is always calling the cops.
I don't think Harris' campaign is going to go nearly as well or as far as the media thinks. To make is as a Presidential candidate you have to have a fanbase and be someone the country can stand to have in their living rooms every night for four years. And whatever her politics, Harriss isn't that.
I don't think any democrat has a large fan base besides Bernie. And the algorithms don't like his whiteness or gender, so the media will continue to trash him.
Scott Adams is calling Harris "Hillary 2.0" and I think for good reasons. No charisma, all platitudes and divisive rhetoric, and huge support from the media. I think the media rather see fireworks (ratings) followed by 4 more years of calling Trump supporters racist, than actually try to push realistic policy.
Harris is likely to win the nomination assuming Hillary Clinton doesn't run again. And if she wins the nomination she is guaranteed to win the general. Drumpf has destroyed the Republican Party for at least a generation.
Never underestimate Americans ability to hold their nose and vote for their party on the premise they hate the other party.
These Lefty candidates are doing well in Lefty high population areas.
As Hillary found out, NY Democrats dont speak the same political language as Ohio folks. Commifornia Democrats don't speak the same political language as Florida folks.
Trump is gonna win yuge...again.
I have a general theory of presidential elections - the person who wins is the one most people would want to have over to their house for dinner. Trump is the drunk, possibly racist uncle who can be embarrassing but also a ton of fun once he's liquored up. Hilary is the disapproving mother-in-law who would manage to open up every door and cupboard in your house to see how well you'd tidied up. Kamala is your aunt's lesbian lover who teaches 'transgendered women of color's literature' at the local community college and won't let anyone start to eat the Thanksgiving turkey before they apologize for complicity in 200 years of atrocity and oppression.
I make up to $90 an hour working from my home. My story is that I quit working at Walmart to work -online and with a little effort I easily bring in around $40h to $86h? "French sex workers are bringing a constitutional challenge against a 2016 law criminalizing people who pay for sex."
See? Any more evidence that sex workers are human slaves?
They're even doing the legal work for their johns!
Pretty sure any bombshells would have landed by now:
"Mueller investigation near completion, acting AG Whitaker says"
[...]
"Special counsel Robert Mueller has almost finished up his nearly two-year investigation into collusion and Russian interference in the 2016 election, the acting attorney general said Monday.
[...]
"I have been fully briefed on the investigation, and I look forward to director Mueller delivering the report, and I really am not going to talk about an open and ongoing investigation otherwise," he added."

I still predict Mueller will remove Putin's Puppet from office by the end of this year. And I have a good track record with predictions, having accurately called the #BlueTsunami when some people here were predicting a "Red Wave." (LOL)
My theory on Meuller is that he took the job and was brought in to save the FBI from having to answer for spying on the Trump campaign. The FBI spyed on the Trump campaign figuring he was sure to lose and that they would find something criminal on him and use it to destroy him after the election and gain brownie points with now President Hillary. The committed an enormous abuse of power but did so with the full expectation that Hillary would be elected and it wouldn't matter.
Well, Hillary wasn't elected and the FBI faced the real possibility of having to answer for the worst abuse of power since Watergate. Muehller was brought in to investigate the Russian BS. They know it is BS but the plan was Meuller would find something that Trump could be impeached with and no one would care that the Russian stuff was BS or that the FBI abused its power.
The problem is Mueller hasn't found jack on Trump. Now he is screwed. If he doesn't come up with anything, the Democrats' derranged supporters will call him a traitor and say he is covering up for Trump. So, he is just coming up with process crimes or anything he can find hoping to ride out the clock until 2020 when hopefully Trump will lose the election and no one will care that he didn't find anything. I don't think he can do that. He is going to be forced to write a report probably this year. And when he does, it will show absolutely nothing and Mueller and the Democrats are going to be screwed.
Furthermore, Trump allowing Mueller to proceed without actual interference, gives a future Special Prosecutor enormous legitimacy to investigate Hillary, Obama, and that merry band of corrupt nitwits. The Lefties would not be able to politically interfere with that, since they gave Mueller 2+ years to investigate Trump.
Siccing a Special Prosecutor on the FBI and other Deep State agencies might be a strategy too.
Trump knows that he is clean. He knows that the only way to take him down is corruptly coup him or vote him out.
Technically, Trump has already won big- more and more Americans completely mistrust the media and the state.
""Trump knows that he is clean. "'
Let's assume he is clean. Has that ever stopped a prosecutor from prosecuting?
Prosecutor behavior is #1 reason no one should vote for Harris.
Let's assume he is clean. Has that ever stopped a prosecutor from prosecuting?
Never. And that is what is so astounding about the fact that after two years they still have nothing on Trump.
Definitely TrickyVic and John.
Evidently, Mueller does not even feel that he can get away with even a single made up charge. Mueller has mainly set up or taken advantage of perjury traps to then find White Collar crimes.
Evidently Trump does not have the skeletons like most politicians have. The Depp State assumed that looking deep enough, they would find something.
Since the NSA unconstitutionally monitors all American web traffic, the Deep State must be very aware of being careful to not falsely charge Trump. I know that I have said multiple times that this is already an unsuccessful coup attempt by bureaucrats but if they remove Trump without an actual crime, this experiment is over for me and I consider Civil War 2.0 on.
So the press is going to fact check Trump's talk of sex slaves, while they eat Kamala Harris' snatch despite her record s a bitchy AG?
They deserve 4 more years of Trump.
Incidentally, Tony is getting dumber.
The most awful things he's ever defended are the idea that Jews didn't have a right to their lives during the holocaust because their government didn't say say they did, but that's about stubbornness and evil rather blatant stupidity.
I defy anyone to find something Tony has written that is dumber than what he wrote yesterday in the thread about Venezuela.
Millions of Venezuelans have fled the country because of starvation. The average Venezuelan has reportedly lost more than 20 lbs in recent years because of malnutrition. Meanwhile, there's an obesity "epidemic" among the poor in the U.S. And Tony has the blatant stupidity--in a thread about Venezuela--to argue that socialist policies (like those in Venezuela) do a better job of taking care of the poor and their "basic needs" than more capitalist countries (like the USA).
You have to try really, really hard to get dumber than that.
Our poor = obese.
Their poor = malnutrition.
Tony's head is filled with concrete.
Where did he say that? That is amazingly horrible even for Tony.
Well he rant about the "evils" of Christmas and how it should be illegal and professed his hatred for all children already, so I think it's par for the course.
You mean completely destroying the productive economy isn't good for poor people? That's crazy talk.
Well, at least Venezuela has universal healthcare, unlike the USA under Trump!
Once again, Harris sounds a lot like President Donald Trump, whose go-to response when confronted with people acting against him or his supporters is to portray those people as crazed and lawless anarchists"
seems to me this predates Trump remember the president who claimed "bitter clingers" and how about "deplorables" form a loser who wanted to be president
Trump is plenty nasty to opposing politicians and media people. But he was never that I can remember nasty towards ordinary Americans of any politics. That is the difference between him and Hillary's deplorables comment or even Romney's 47% statement.
I suppose some would consider his 80% of illegals are rapist comment to be similar even though they are not voters and of course its a racist comment but i always answer being wrong about a percentage of rapist does not make a person racist. BTW one study did show 80% of illegal women immigrants had been raped and thats probably where he got the 80& number
He never said 80%. He said
"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." "
And that is pretty much true. It is not a truth polite society wants told. But it is a truth nonetheless. Regardless, it wasn't an attack in an individaul person. All politicians attack groups. Trump just attacked a group that the PC culture deems immune from all criticism.
And again, Trump never said 80%. It is amazing how many lies get accepted as fact.
I suppose it's all true, strictly speaking. But the whole bit about Mexico "sending" people is kind of a false premise. As if Mexico has it all planned out and picks which people immigrate.
There is also a strong implication that most of the people coming from Mexico are bad people coming here to commit crimes (besides crossing the border illegally), which I don't think is true.
"80%" is a media propaganda tactic to lock Trump into a straw man that the media can tear down.
Trump tends to give general statements. A general statement about murderer and rapists entering the USA as illegals is technically true. There are some murderers and rapists. Most illegals are not.
makes the right broad progressive gestures
Oh SNAP!
a lot of Democratic drones on Twitter lapped Harris' performance right up
Like Willie Brown did to her sweet puss.
barf
His old, experienced, tongue forcing her delicious lips open to a new universe full of cum buckets...
In many ways, Trump has allowed Democrats to veer back to the right on criminal justice issues, after a very short flirtation with reform during the Obama years.
The law is the law, and Libertarians should support the rule of law, so all laws should be enforced.
Why is that so hard for TreasonNN to understand?

"Local law enforcement must be able to use their discretion to determine
who can carry a concealed weapon," said Kamala Harris, who was then the
California Attorney General.
I have always wondered how #BlackLivesMatter would view this. After all,
according to their narrative, cops are just Klansmen with badges who
habitually gun down unarmed black men. How could we trust such people with
discretion to determine who may carry a concealed weapon.
And yet, she tweeted this:
Today, we remember #MikeBrown and recommit to ensuring truth,
transparency, and trust in our criminal justice system. #BlackLivesMatter
So I wonder if any reporter from the network broadcast and print media would
ask her any of the following questions:
? If the reason that "[l]ocal law enforcement must be able to use their
discretion to determine who can carry a concealed weapon" is because they
are just Klansmen with badges, why shouldn't the Stormfront White
Nationalist Community also get to decide who can carry a concealed weapon?
? If the reason that "[l]ocal law enforcement must be able to use their
discretion to determine who can carry a concealed weapon" is because they
habitually gun down unarmed black men, why shouldn't the Crips also get to
decide who can carry a concealed weapon?
? Is more black men dead or in prison a worthy price to pay to make lawful
gun ownership more difficult?
? Is making lawful gun ownership more difficult a worthy price to pay to put
more black men in prison?
? Does some magical guardian fairy turn these Klansmen with badges into
freedom riders whenever they exercise their "discretion to determine who can
carry a concealed weapon"?
She is morally right Micheal. Don't bother her with your facts and logic.
If I'm in the media and I'm going to carry someone over the finish line, I'd rather carry Kamala Harris than Hillary Clinton.
In many ways, Trump has allowed Democrats to veer back to the right on criminal justice issues, after a very short flirtation with reform during the Obama years.
I knew it. It's Trump's fault the Democrats are moving right.
"invoking criminal justice buzzwords (like bodycams)"
Regular readers and commenters help me out here:
The author seems to take a tone that suggest the wearing of a bodycam by law enforcement is at odds with regular readers.
Who here does not support monitoring the state and its monopoly of violence? Why not?
An honest question, so school me..
The problem is not with bodycams, which is a laudable improvement, but with the idea that Harris is suddenly on board with police accountability after years of badge-licking prosecutorial fascism.
She's desperately trying to salvage her progressive street cred by commenting favorably on shit she would have cuttabitch to prevent in her former role.
"More than half of the inmates held in prisons for young people in England and Wales are from a black and minority ethnic (BME) background, the highest proportion on record,"
Might be interesting to see that broken down a bit further between B and ME Asian.
So, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't one of the big things the dems keep harping about is Trump being loose with the truth? And isn't Harris even looser with the truth, with the difference being Trump does it cause he's old and can't be bothered to care, while Harris will spin whatever yarn supports her goals?
Yes, because they're committing more crimes. Just like in the US.
Why the hell does Reason abandon rationality when it comes to this fact?
It's like they say 'It HAS to be racism because the alternative is just too horrible to even consider!!!!11!!'
Control for crime committed by people of BME background and America's crime rate starts looking positively Nordic.
Because it was impossible to get ahold of a copy of the Bible and study it *before* the state stepped in? Is that the takeaway here?
'Empire' Star Jussie Smollett Victim of Homophobic Attack By MAGA Supporters
"Empire" star Jussie Smollett was brutally attacked by 2 men who beat him up, put his head in a noose and screamed, "This is MAGA country."
Sources directly connected to Jussie tell TMZ, the actor arrived in Chicago from New York late Monday, and at around 2 AM he was hungry and went to a Subway. We're told when shortly after he walked out on his way home, someone yelled, "Aren't you that f***ot 'Empire' n*****?"
The 2 men -- both white and wearing ski masks -- viciously attacked Jussie as he fought back, but they beat him badly and fractured a rib. They put a rope around his neck, poured bleach on him and as they left they yelled, "This is MAGA country."
Have y'all heard about this? This seems like a false flag.
Who goes around with bleach and a noose on a whim?
Illinois is full of Lefties not Trump supporters.
Obviously Chicago is deep red and needs a total political overhaul?
Kamala Harris has an extreme idea to get gun control legislation passed
She said: "I think somebody should have required all those members of Congress to go in a room, in a locked room, no press, nobody else, and look at the autopsy photographs of those babies. And then you vote your conscience."
Nothing like Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, Assaulting Congressmen, and torture to hold Congressmen's eyes open to get elected to President of the United States of America.
Lefties are the enemy of a free America.
She just wants even more black men in prison.
French sex workers are bringing a constitutional challenge against a 2016 law criminalizing people who pay for sex.
Prostitution is legal throughout the USA, provided the sex worker works for food.
My god. I didn't think they could come up with someone worse than Hillary, but they may have succeeded with Kamala.
