If You Still Think Nick Sandmann's Smile Is Proof of Racism, You're Seeing What You Want to See
Some are incapable of viewing the MAGA-hat-wearing teens from Covington Catholic as anything other than pure evil.

In the nearly two hours of video footage that greatly elucidate what happened between a group of boys from Covington Catholic High School and Native American veteran Nathan Phillips, there are many moments that turn the media's initial, false narrative—racist teens harass well-meaning elderly man—on its head. Here is one of them.
This video shows the confrontation between Phillips and teenager Nick Sandmann—accused of harboring racist intentions, as evidenced by his unfailing smile—from a different angle. One of Phillips' associates, another Native American man, is standing near Sandmann, and enters an argument with a different MAGA-hat-wearing teenager (start watching at 6:55). The Native American man says, "Go back to Europe where you came from. This is not your land, you have been here two, three generations compared to us. We've been here a million fucking years." The MAGA teen responds, "That's not true. Let's go all the way back to Africa," and proceeds to tell the story of the land bridge that once connected Asia to North America, which allowed humans to settle these lands some thousands of years ago. (His opponent counters that this a "bullshit theory.")
Keep in mind, the teen saying that all human beings originally came from Africa is a member of the group of young people initially described by countless pundits as obviously, undeniably racist.
But the next moment is what really matters: Sandmann takes notice of the argument and quietly signals to the other teenager. It's very quick and easy to miss: He makes a cut it out gesture.
Surely if Sandmann's objective had been to harass the Native Americans and sow racial discord, he would not have attempted to defuse the situation. In fact, this gesture supports the claim he made in his official statement that he "motioned to my classmate and tried to get him to stop engaging with the protestor, as I was still in the mindset that we needed to calm down tensions."
That's just one moment from the video footage. There are others. There's the moment when the Black Hebrew Israelites, a black nationalist cult, tells one of the few black teens that his friends are going to kill him and steal his organs, and a young white man turns to his classmate, touches him affectionately, and says, "But we love you!" There's the moment when the black nationalists declare that "your president is a homosexual" and a high school kid responds, "Who cares?" There's the moment when some of the teens begin to suspect that Phillips has not waded into their midst with the best of intentions (he would later assert to media reporters that the teens were "beasts" and the cult members "their prey," a false and possibly willful misreading of the situation) and one shouts, "I'm so confused."
There are also moments that cast some of the teens in a less-than-favorable light. At least one appears to make a tomahawk chop—an offensive gesture from sporting events in which team names have been taken from Native American culture. That is insensitive behavior that an adult in a position of authority over these young men should discourage in the future.
But most of the Covington kids do not perform tomahawk chops. Most jump, wave their arms, and cheer—and many do so before Phillips arrives. Their stated explanation—they were attempting to drown out the torrent of hate coming from the Black Hebrew Israelites—makes sense, and it squares with the timeline evident from the video.
If we are to construct a hierarchy of blame for what transpired, it is crystal clear who belongs at the top: the Black Hebrew Israelites. The poor choices everyone else may or may not have made look pretty insignificant by comparison.
Phillips also engaged in wrongdoing: His choice to blame the boys rather than the hate group exacerbated the fury on social media. And at least one of the members of his entourage appeared to be looking for an argument.
Some of the young men—not Sandmann—should have made other choices, and comported themselves differently in a highly charged and very public setting. Let this be a teachable moment for them.
Undoubtedly, it is a teachable moment for everyone who rushed to join the social media mob condemning the kids as abominable racists, including prominent journalists on the left, right, and center. To their credit, many have admitted their mistake.
Others have doubled down, offering a variety of explanations for why the new evidence doesn't sway them. Some of this is just goalpost shifting: Maybe Sandmann didn't do anything wrong, but what about the kid who made the tomahawk gesture? An image of Covington Catholic high school students in black body paint at a basketball game in 2012 is somehow supposed to be damaging to Sandmann's credibility (The New York Daily News: "This won't help Nick Sandmann's case"), as is the fact that public relations experts reviewed his statement (uh, of course they did).
But the most frustrating and worrying reactions have come from those who have convinced themselves that the extended video footage confirms their initial impressions. Of all the myriad examples of this, perhaps none is more contemptible than the effort by Deadspin's Laura Wagner, who writes, "Don't Doubt What You Saw With Your Own Eyes." Wagner accuses the Covington kids' defenders—me among them—of "siding with some shithead MAGA teens and saying that 2+2=5 in the face of every bit of evidence there is to be had."
But I know what I saw, and I think I know what Wagner saw, too. She saw a group of white teens wearing MAGA hats who had just engaged in partisan political activity on behalf of a cause she opposes (this last detail is more than sufficient on its own to convict the teens, according to several prominent progressive feminists). And that was enough.
In writing and speaking about this, I have drawn parallels to the Rolling Stone/University of Virginia gang rape hoax of 2014, which provides a powerful example of mainstream media getting a story very wrong in ways that permanently damaged the magazine's reputation.
But in the less insane media world of 2014, at least the Rolling Stone debunking was accepted by pretty much everyone. When friends of "Jackie," the alleged rape victim, came forward to help clarify that her alleged attacker did not exist, and was in fact a persona she had invented in order to catfish them, I don't remember many major pundits sticking their fingers in their ears and pretending not to hear this.
The ongoing effort to pretend that videos of boys doing pep rally type cheers in opposition to a hate group is in fact evidence of deep-seated racism makes me wonder whether Rolling Stone truther-ism would have been much more common had the story come out in 2019.

That would be an excellent idea. Suggesting that there was something inappropriate or untoward about the pleasant, welcoming smiles of these young followers of our national leader is as unpresidented and dangerous as saying that outrageous Gmail "confessions" impugning the reputation of a distinguished department chairman here at NYU are a mere act of academic "satire." See the documentation of our nation's leading criminal "parody" case at:

In other words, you'll do nothing. Got it.
You may be "Longtobefree" but it is quite obvious you are also an unadulterated bigot.
Yeah getting a bunch of kids beat up/shot by the police in Washington DC is really a cool thing to do by giving them false confidence to take on some old Indians and a few racist "black" Israelites that they outnumber 10 to 1.
"At least one appears to make a tomahawk chop?an offensive gesture from sporting events in which team names have been taken from Native American culture."
This has already been explained if reason had real reporters. It's a motion they do to keep cadence of the chants. They do it at various sporting events. It isnt a tomahawk chop.
Remember the movie Me. Holland Opus when the black football player is learning to keep rhythm by moving his arm up and down? He is making a racist tomahawk motion!
I was chopping some mushrooms that way. I deeply and truly apologize for my racism towards those vegetables.
If you see people making fun of a Native American you need to remind them that they are the poorest people in our nation, that before we came to this country they had a thousand years of peace across this continent, that they welcomed us to this country with open arms because for a thousand years that is all they experienced, that we then forced them to assign tribal chiefs, and when they didn't vote we assigned chiefs for them, then we said they sold us some land because their chiefs agreed to take a pair of shoes and shit for thousands of acres, and then we laughed at the idea that they would sell us land for so little, and then we put them in Christian schools, and made them cut their hair, and those were just the few we didn't kill. And today we still ridicule them and their ways, despite that they had a thousand years of peace, cultivated the best fruits and most our modern diet, and welcomed us.
If you walk up to someone and get one inch from their face and bang a drum you are lucky if the drum doesn't get shoved up your ass.
WTF was your post about again?
Yours is the narrative that the left wants everyone to believe. No doubt atrocities were committed against Native Americans, but not just by Europeans. For example, the Great Plains tribes did not originate from the Great Plains. The Lakota are believed to have originated from Minnesota. They conquered their neighbors to the west and proceeded to occupy their lands. History didn't begin in 1492 Tonyt123. Every single civilization, race or ethnicity on every continent in recorded history has participated in colonialism at one point in time or another. This phenomenon is inevitable as your civilization or society grows. The whole narrative that the world was this peaceful utopia until the rise of the Europeans is from an academic and historical standpoint simply not factual, and from a honesty standpoint an outright lie being perpetrated by political extremists for their own political gain.
- "before we came to this country they had a thousand years of peace across this continent"
ROFLMAO! Yes, the great tribes were all based on warrior cultures because they had all been singing Kumbaya and peacefully coexisting for a millenia.
And don't get me started on what happened to those poor peace-loving Incas and Aztecs to the south. Human sacrifice is such a misunderstood and beautiful cultural rite.
"...that before we came to this country they had a thousand years of peace..."...wow, either you are being super sarcastic or this is a good example of Soft Bigotry by a very uninformed person.
I'm sure that the Sioux would enjoy your little fairy tale. It is so much nicer than the real history of native people - the Sioux had their a**es kicked and were killed in such large numbers by the Chippewa, they were forced out of the midwestern states and resettled (against their will) in the western plains. And of course, there were the native tribes who worked happily as mercenary soldiers during the Revolutionary War and other civil incursions.
As for the white man's oppression of natives, you can thank two of the left's icons for that! Andrew Jackson and Woodrow Wilson, both progressives, believed the natives were too uncultured and uncivlized to live without the government's firm hand and guidance. Hence, the reservation system and yes, the forcing of public education (not "Christian" schools, but GOVERNMENT RUN public schools) on them to make them more white and middle class. And remember, these "betters" are still infesting Washington DC, only now they look at YOU the way they did the natives back then.
Nonsense! If a white person moves, it must be racist. Contrast this to if a white person stands and smiles it must be racists.
These young men are demonized for 4 reasons; 1)white, 2)male, 3)Catholic and 4)MAGA hats. If none of those reasons makes any sense, you clearly aren't a Leftist [Leftist because they are not Liberal or Progressive or Democratic.]
It all makes sense if you understand the New Left.
Racism is bad and so are white people - The New Democrats.
Instead of debating with or explaining things to the left, why do we not simply beat them up when they run their mouths? How else are progtards to learn their place if they are not punished for their ideas?

Sorry, I did not intend to post it 3 times.
It mimics the rage of the left. I'll allow it
Since you're new here, if you post something and nothing happens just wait a bit and it should show up. Sometimes it doesn't though.
You can take a deep breath and see if you get a message that says "Your comment has been posted". It doesn't always appear but it usually does. But not always. But usually.
A victim of the squirrels I see.
They're bad today.
I don't know. For the Braves I'm pretty sure it was a tomahawk chop. But so what?
Either way, those activists aren't interested in smoking peace pipe. They want heap wampum from school.

C'mon - you don't REALLY believe the 'thousand years of peace' thing, do you? They fought amongst themselves pretty much non-stop.
I say agian,

And the native Americans conducted plenty of autrocities against European and Americans (BTW not all tribes welcomed them with open arms that also is a fallacy). See Buffalo Humps March to the sea. Also, according to historians the NA killed more non combatants, usually women and children, then the US did in combat. The myth of disease blankets also is just that a myth. There is no historical verification for this. One British General during the French Indian war did write about the possibility of using blankets from his sick soldiers, there was a small pox outbreak, to break a siege his fort was under by French and Indian forces. Small pox did break out in the French and Indian canps, but there is no evidence the British went through with it and the nature of mid 18th century seige warfare meant they could easily have been exposed via normal combat (in fact this is most likely, and even if blankets had been used, the outbreak probably bwoukd have spread even without them). More Indians than French died, but that is because a number of the French had survived an out real in France earlier.
If you see people making fun of a Native American you need to remind them that they are the descendants of the people who rejected the Wheel as useless
There. This CANNOT be said enough. They didn't 'not discover it'. They DID discover it. They had hoops and balls. They knew things rolled.
The decided that it was not a thing they wanted. This 'rolling'
Instead they built better travois. And better sedan chairs. And left that uncouth 'rolling' to children. Who, not a one of them, ever connected 'rolling' to anything useful.
When the Spanish got to these shores they didn't have wheels. They STILL avoided using them after the US was founded. Think about that.
Why should anyone offer respect to people whose sole desire is to pull the indigenous back into that idiotic state?
that before we came to this country they had a thousand years of peace across this continent
Most Native American tribes warred upon, killed and displaced each other well before Europeans arrived. The Aztecs, for instance were so vicious that their Tlaxcaltec and other neighbors provided the Spanish with the bulk of the armies that defeated them.
And they were banging a drum and chanting, which is also racist stereotyping. Oh, wait, that was the Indian activist, who everyone, including the author of this article, seems very careful to avoid fingering as the villain of the piece, even though he made a public effort to lie about the kids while trying to present himself a saint. The Black Hebrew Israelite people are kooks, as everyone seems to admit, but it was Phillips more than anyone who ensured that the kids were falsely painted as monsters. And he shouldn't get a pass because he's an Indian or a veteran.
Yeah, Phillips is an asshole as far as I can tell. He immediately jumped to the conclusion that the kids were racist based on nothing and spouted that bullshit on national media.
Phillips isn't just an asshole, though---he's a liar. The guy is an activist and he was trying to provoke a confrontation, not stop one.
"There was that moment when I realized I've put myself between beast and prey," Phillips told the Detroit Free-Press. "These young men were beastly and these old black individuals was their prey, and I stood in between them and so they needed their pounds of flesh and they were looking at me for that."
There are lots of other examples of him lying.
A liar? Maybe some evidence (at the link)
Nathan Phillips Allegedly Lied About Being A Marine Combat Veteran During The Vietnam War, According To Reports
My husband is a Vietnam era Marine. They pulled Marines in 1973 and then went back in later. He was part of the evacuation of the embassy, operations Eagle Pull, Frequent Winds and New Life in April/May of 1975.
They pulled combat Marines out in '71 not '73, other than a few advisors to the Vietnamese Marine Corp, some fire support personal and air crews. He would have been a private or pfc in 1972 (a fresh boot) and doubtful he would qualify as an advisor at that rank. Additionally, he does not claim to be artillery or air crew, so it is highly doubtful he served in any operation other than possibly the evacuation of Saigon in 1975. And yes a few did go back in to help with the evacuation.
IMs ire the guy is alying piece of shit. More stolen valor from a leftist.
According to his Wikipedia page, Phillips claimed to have been a "recon ranger' in the Marines. I have seen other accounts where he has described himself as a "Vietnam-era vet", never actually saying he was in Vietnam.
He has in interviews this week. He also was never a recon ranger (which isn't a real thing) he was a refrigerator mechanic and electrician who was disciplined multiple times for being AWOL and was discharged at the lowest rank possible, E-1).

LOL
It's now come out that the same day of this incident Phillip's led a group of 20 to try to shut down a Saturday night mass in the d.c. basilica. He's an asshole.
This whole circus is fascinating (though in a sickening way) as an illustration of where society has sunk in terms of the embrace of PC prejudices - generally of white, cis-males, though with some "intersectional" exceptions like the black kid targeted by the BHIs. I actually believe Phillips was sincere in his motives at the time - concluding that the kids really were the "aggressors" simply because they greatly outnumbered the BHIs and were encircling them. His own prejudices made it "obvious".
This could be true, however, there is reason to doubt this about Phillips. First) there is video of before the kids arrived of the BHI numbnuts verbally assaulting Phillips and his crews protest. Second) Phillips lied about his military service, he claimed to be a Vietnam Veteran, but is only a Vietnam Era Veteran, and he states he was a recon ranger, recon is Marine (which he claims he was) rangers are Army. Third) A couple years ago he made similar charges against a group of white kids in Michigan, supposedly they called him over, they were dressed in Ntive American garb, insulted him and threw beer at him. This all happened supposedly on a crowded campus but no witnesses could be found, and when the police arrived (he called them) they could find no evidence of the supposed kids or the assault he described.
There's clearly a "Rashomon" effect here, and I'm not sure there's always a clear line between calculated deception and simply being so attached to one's own prejudices that one confabulates to support them. Some people's perceptions of reality are more "elastic" than others. I don't believe that means that such elasticity needs to be accommodated under the law (as some Title IX backers and anti-Kavanaugh activists seem to advocate), but I think it's a mistake to assume that all liars really secretly know that they're lying.
So lack of self awareness on top of questionable integrity. That seems to fit.
As Crash Davis said in "Bull Durham" -- "Life is not meant for the self-aware"
it's a mistake to assume that all liars really secretly know that they're lying.
No one is assuming this. We're concluding it in this specific case because he lied in ways that are impossible to reconcile with honest intent. For example he claimed the kids were harassing the BHIs and treating them as "prey" when video clearly shows the BHIs engaging in outrageous harassment. Phillips benignly refers to these foul racists and homophobes as older gentlemen. It's not credible to believe this could be an honest mistake.
There's no Rahomon effect because that movie leaves unanswered which version occurred while the complete video shows us the truth.
This all happened supposedly on a crowded campus but no witnesses could be found, and when the police arrived (he called them) they could find no evidence of the supposed kids or the assault he described.
Still doesn't mean he was lying. He could have had a petrol-fueled vision quest.
Sarcasm?
The kids were not encircling him, you can see his own supporters attacking the kids over his shoulder.
What you claim as supporting evidence further proves his intentional deceit.
I think they were originally encircling the BHIs, simply because there were only a few BHIs and the kids were curious about what was going on and who these nutcases were (I've seen BHIs on the streets of Manhattan years ago, and they tend to have that effect on people). The BHIs, in their own video, comment on this, claiming an attempt to intimidate them, Phillips may or may not have heard them, or may have leapt to his own conclusion, though there's no obvious "intimidating" behavior on the part of the kids -- there were simply a lot of them.
Phillips seems to have broken the ring with his line of chanting demonstrators (to the kids' apparent confusion), still backed by them when he ultimately came face-to-face with Sandmann, which is where the media rants have focused.
No, they weren't. The BHIs say that, but they're lying and self-dramatizing (I realize that's hard to believe about such fine, upstanding characters). Watch their own video from about 1:00 to 1:12 (which I'll bet has gotten more hits than they've ever had, lol...) . Covington kids are all on one side of them, at the top of the stairs and a good distance away. Random clumps of people are scattered around watching the nutcases provide the entertainment of the day, but by no stretch are they "surrounded".
Phillips walks up to a bunch of kids who initially had their backs to him doing their cheers. They hear him, turn around and start chanting along with him.
I don't think this is true. Phillips didn't jump to any conclusion. His intent to create a confrontation was premeditated as can be inferred from his approach. Contrary to many statements he did not place himself between the groups. He specifically targeted these kids by walking directly into their group and placing himself inside the personal space of his chosen victim. His lying about the interactions between the kids and BHI shows his presentation was intended political theater.
I don't think that wanting a confrontation and to engage in political theater preclude his sincerely seeing the kids as menacing bullies. I agree that that perception is the result of his prejudices and victim mentality, but I don't see any reason to think that he secretly "knows better".
Considering a video shows the BHI verbally assaulting Phillips's protest before the kids arrived, I think Phillips had an inkling of what they were like.
Ah, I see you are possibly alluding to the fact that Phillips is being either willfully ignorant or subconsciously ignorant with no desire to change his behavior.
That description I could accept.
Everyone mentions Philips was a vet. first so what that gives him no more rights than anyone else and second did he have a sign saying he was a vet the kid had no idea. I was raised by vets and worked for and bowled with vets at the local vet hall for over 30 years. I respect there service but beyond that they are normal people some good some bad. BTW there are questions about Philips claims of service
And I bet 0 of them would say they are intimidated by a white guy in a red hat.
Exactly
I'm retired Navy and who gives a fuck if Phillips is a vet? Doesn't give him a right to act like an idiot and Phillips is a Vietnam era vet, he didn't go to Vietnam so big whoop. The only PTSD he has is from his lifelong effort to scam people.
It's a big if, commander:
The media also reported that the longtime lefty agitator is a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a "recon ranger" based on his say-so, without bothering to verify whether the claim was true.
The Center for Security Studies had some questions about that:
This is not a valid name for any Marine specialty or unit and Phillips age of 64 calls into question how he could have completed training and served in Vietnam prior to the US withdrawal. Several veterans groups are filing requests for his service records to validate his tale.
Link to article
Recon equals Marines, Rangers equals Army. Smells to me like someone was a PX ranger.
I was in 81 - 84 and the term was Force Recon. But I think I vaguely remember some cadence calls that had recon ranger in them.
All fairness to Phillips, I've seen where he's called himself a Vietnam era vet. Which would be true if he was enlisted at that time. I have not seen where he said he directly participated in the conflict. There could be something, I just haven't seen it yet.
I'm not going to call BS on his time served. But I will call BS that he was intimidated by smiley in a red hat. I saw nothing that would intimidate a Marine in the video.
I did see something that would make most Marines want to punch a guy out. That would be someone playing a drum in their face.
I believe he served as well. He smells like a typical barracks lawyer, and like I said, quite possibly a PX ranger. He actually has at least once claimed to be a Vietnam Veteran (in an interview on Monday, after questions about his service began to come forward). He also has repeatedly allowed his supporters both past and present, to describe him as a Vietnam veteran, even a combat veteran, and his organization has raised money using the latter description, without ever correcting the record. And he didn't describe himself as a Vietnam Era veteran, he has almost always used the more ambiguous term Vietnam Time Veteran. He smells like someone who is trying to obscure the truth, without outright lying.
He has used various terms, but consistently has portrayed himself as an ex-Marine who fought in Vietnam under one guise or another. Stolen valor? Maybe. I think it's probably more the case that it validates his attacks on the US government generally and Trump in particular for him to be able to say "hey, I'm patriotic! I put my life on the line as a Marine!" He's basically a hustler.
I saw a youtube video, so not at all saying it is verified information, but an old SEAL who goes around busting stolen valor and making videos of it claims to have found his records. He displays some service records, of a a Standard, who is supposedly the name Phillips enlisted under. He was discharged in 76, just short of four years (enlisted in 72) was discharged as an E-2 because of multiple disciplinary problems (went AWOL multiple times while stationed in El Toro), never served out of the US, spent most of his time in Nevada as a refer mechanic and El Toro as an electrician. He served all of 2 days while in Topeka (probably as a recruit with a reserve unit) as a rifleman.
I misstated, E-1. Lowest rank possible.
Yeah, he got busted down. Did the guy even have an honorable discharge?
I haven't seen that, but it seems reasonable. He was discharged short of his full service contract and he left as an E-1. That is not consistent with an honorable discharge. I am not certain if they had less than honorable discharges (which are not the same as dishonorable,) at the time.
At Braves games, they call it a tomahawk chop.
But anyone who finds it offensive has gotta get over it.
I don't know about the "isn't the tomahawk chop", but it damn sure isn't insensitive or offensive. Just because some random PC idiot told you it was offensive doesn't make it so.
100,000 people do the cheer in Tallahassee on fall weekends for hours on end with the full blessing of the Seminole Tribe.
The people you are turning to as the authority on what is and what is not offensive are idiots. Strike that.... they are not just idiots. They are way worse than that, because there is a high degree of mendacity mixed in there as well. Don't fall for their crap. Being a women's studies major at NYU doesn't make you an expert on all things offensive to all groups.
It was perfectly reasonable for a bunch of teenage boys to do the exact same cheer that fans do at major sporting events around the country. Claiming that they were behaving badly because some wanna-be thought police at some northeastern campus would find it offensive is wrong. Stupidly wrong.
anyone that can't see that the kid's smile is menacing, shouldn't be a parent. Shame on those boys and shame on the school for not having supervision. The chaperones should have had those boys put there backs to the black group or done anything to defuse the situation, but no they were nowhere to be found.
I blame the chaperones personally. They're the ones who let this get out of hand.
I hope you understand that *ANYTHING* those boys did was going to be condemned by the media and the left (but I repeat myself).
Facing Phillips and smiling = racist
Turning their backs on Phillips and the BHI = racist
Ignoring Phillips completely = racist
Because, you see, what the Covington boys did wrong was not anything in their actions, it was their mere presence - or even existence - that offended.
I watched it. It's a tomahawk chop. Which is protected by free speech. Let's not act like it didn't happen though like a bunch of fucking cowards.
"Some of the young men?not Sandmann?should have made other choices, and comported themselves differently in a highly charged and very public setting. Let this be a teachable moment for them."
Dont wear skirts ladies!
"Some of the young men?not Sandmann?should have made other choices, and comported themselves differently in a highly charged and very public setting. Let this be a teachable moment for them."
Imagine that, teenagers becoming a little excited. The teaching should be that the world is full of ass-oles like Phillips, so be ready to defend yourself if/when they become violent, and record their assholery when they are acting out. And of course don't imitate them.
The kids need to sue EVERYBODY.
The press has to learn. Twitter mobs have to learn.
They cannot, they will not. They refuse. Those supposedly less extreme among them just sit back, acquiescent, and accept The Narrative as written by the most hateful, cynical people. Remember the ultimate mantra of progressives and the hard left is "by any means necessary", so there is no evil to which the extremes will not stoop, and to which the majority will turn a blind eye because they dare not believe just how awful it gets.
What a pussy moment. You take a learning moment and try to take the pussy way out.
Just look at that picture. Look at that obnoxious blood red MAGA hat with that pale ghost white skin and that greasy, skull smile. The kid on black in the back, clutching his heart. He obviously wants death... and it can only be death for minorities.
I hate them! I hate these racists! I hate their clammy white skin and their beedy little eyes, the way their ears stick out of their hats, and their dumb jackets. Hell, I can smell the stinky sweaty white boy smell from here!
But mostly, I hate their racism.
8/10, well done.
I see somebody besides me was watching Wizards yesterday.
That's the AXE body spray that you're smelling.
I haven't seen OBL in a couple of days, is he alright?
I came to the comments for his take on this. I am disappointed.
He was on one of the other articles earlier.
Oh good, I've just missed him on the ones I have commented on today. Was it the AOC climate change one? That seems a ready made one for him.
What I gathered when I first saw this story (and as a counter-point to the Gillette The Best Men Can Be hoopla) was that any group of boys automatically has the worst thought of them. Whether it is inner-city boys, stuck on an island, or a lacrosse team; any gathering of boys must be up to no good.
And in comparison to the Gillette ad demonizing men, is anyone really surprised at the outcome?
And if society is going to demand more from men and boys, what obligations does society have for these boys in return?
"And if society is going to demand more from men and boys, what obligations does society have for these boys in return?"
Only to respect their rights and not initiate force, just like everyone with else.
They can get that smoking weed, playing vida, and questioning the moral worthiness of your mother. Just like everyone else.
I think Robby's concern lies with his upcoming book getting out there but going anti-propaganda is a nice look for Soave.
Sometimes you got to stand on A Pache of freedom and fight for it, or you might lose it.
'Stand on "Apache"'?
I see what you did there, opressor!
If bringing civilization to 2 continents is oppression, they should be so lucky! They're probably still be living in teepees in the stone age, dying of easily curable diseases, killing each other endlessly in turf wars if those horrible white people hadn't shown up. I'm honky and Indian, and I'm glad we conquered the Americas.
And if bringing Civilization 2 to continents is oppression, they should be so lucky! Still one of the best games in the series.
I loved Civ 2!
Civilization was great, as was SimCity.
LOL
I barely got around to playing the older Civ variations, but have meant to because they're supposed to be better than the newer ones in some ways. If only I had more time to waste...
"perhaps none is more contemptible than the effort by Deadspin's Laura Wagner, who writes,"
Deadspin is a remnant of the gone but not missed Gawker media empire. That group of websites is the left's equivalent of Breitbart.
Breitbart actually reports real news most of the time. Deadspin is just propagandized hate.
Breitbart didnt help lead to a major network committing suicide. ESPN listened to Deadspin in their attempt to get more woke.
Read the comments on that Deadspin story and you'll understand how the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was able to happen.
I would note that they've even assimilated, like some SJW Borg, sites like the AV Club that used to be relatively apolitical (Deadspin itself is ostensibly a sports site). They cross-seed the feeds of all their sites with articles from the more directly politically-focused ones like Jezebel, The Root, and Splinter.
Jalopnik and io9 are decent enough, but cars and sci-fi fandom are still comfortably removed from most politics.
In the hierarchy of blame, the white kids are at the top. They should not have worn the MAGA hats. It was clearly a provocation. If I was there, I would have politely asked them to remove it. But yes, the black hebrews' behavior was despicable. As for the Native American, I think he got carried away, but I think his instinct to confront a MAGA hat representative was not misguided. Everyone can share in the blame. Everyone is trying to instigate everyone. After all that's the point of a demonstration. The great thing was that it was defused. In the past these kinds of confrontations could have led to war. So we are making progress.
I went to a private mostly white high school in the 80's. Any kid at my school could tell you that wearing black face is racist and wrong, and wearing MAGA hats in this kind of situation (or in any situation) is wrong. We would never do it. We were always respectful. It's not an issue of era, probably more geography. This school apparently has a long history of racism. I'm actually pretty shocked by it. I didn't think it still existed.
MAGA hat wearing is an aggression. Period. Full stop.
BS. No different then wearing the jersey of your favorite football team.
Does this mean since I am a Seahawks fan I can consider anyone wearing a 49ers jersey to be provocative? On the other hand, I believe anyone wearing a Patriots Jersey is being purposely provocative.
That girl was asking to be raped. Look at the way she was dressed.
He was not raped, he was insulted. This is a common response to hate symbols. A better response would be to politely ask them to remove the hat. This is what I would have done. But not everyone is as polite as me. Again, the purpose from all sides was to instigate a fight. The kids knew that people like you would defend their innocence and purity. What baffles me is that I grew up in a culture where everyone would know that wearing these hats was wrong and would have chided the kids. Where are all these people now, and why am I the only one left?
49% of this country supported the current sitting president who made that his campaign slogan. If you are not allowed to wear the campaign slogan of a major and victorious president, then this great experiment is over.
I get that you don't like Trump. I get that you think he is racist and a jerk and mean. But millions of people don't. That you conflate his campaign slogan with all those things that you hate does not mean these kids do. "Make America Great Again" on its own is a relatively vague and empty term. It is a vessel and you have filled it with all sorts of imputed meanings that are very likely different than what these people have filled it with.
Saying, "You are a faggot" is different than saying "Make America Great again". If you cannot see that, then you have lost all perspective.
49%? Try just under 46% of those 58.1% who bothered to vote. I make that Trump @ 26.7ish % and HRC @ 27.9ish%.
46+% voted for neither, either by picking somebody else or staying home.
Still, one could wear the hat, with the slogan nicked from Reagan, and it is an empty vessel. A New Dealer could have used it to bring back the WPA, conscription and, hell, Jim Crow. Trumpism has tainted it with nativism, and not Mr Phillips' kind.
https://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/
These kids currently have numerous death threats against them, threats of violence against their families, and their school closed because of threats to their safety. Over a fucking hat.
And not only that, you have Nathan Phillips and members of the Black Hebrew Israelites lying about the events, and you're pontificating to me about politeness. Really?
The new politeness- death threats if you accessorize poorly. Got'cha.
And by the way, how does Kanye West wear blackface?
I condemn the death threats as I always do. I hope the perpetrators are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. But again, this is a great example of how people instigate a fight. This strategy worked in the past but will fail today.
And I condemn all rape as I always do. And I hope the perpetrators are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
But look at the way she's dressed. She's obviously instigating something.
If she would only dress more modestly, these things wouldm't happen.
You're opinion infuriates me, Sir! Please refrain from expressing it publicly. If you continue, you are instigating, and I'll be forced to respond.
So you like compelled speech as long as it is compelled by a mob. Got it. Now fuck off.
And by the way, how does Kanye West wear blackface?
He samples James Brown?
Hes also had death threats. But you seem to be ignorant about a lot of this story.
Only concerned about the death threats of their team.
Death threats by one's own team are to be ignored because they make you're team look bad.
Partisan politics 101
Ok, why is the MAGA hat a hate symbol? Because some people don't like what it stands for, or what they perceive it stands for? That is F'n stupid. Are we all so thin skinned that we have to attack everything we disagree with.
Would you defend a Minister that attacked a person wearing a hat / shirt with Satanic symbols on it? No, you would not. You would lay the full blame on the Minister.
People should be able to wear what every they want, if someone doesn't like it, ignore it. It is that easy. But no, we would rather attack someone because they are doing something we don't like. We are fucking morons at this point.
All sides? How did the Covington kids try and "instigate a fight"? By wearing clothing you don't like?
"A better response would be to politely ask them to remove the hat. This is what I would have done. But not everyone is as polite as me."
And I'd have told to go fuck yourself. I guess I'm not as polite as you.
I don't wear MAGA hats but I do have a couple of politically charged t-shirts. If you ask me to remove them I would tell you to mind your own business. If you can't handle a simple MAGA hat without being offended and incorrectly stereotyping everyone that wears said hat...then the problem is with you. Your offence does not trump my liberty.
Try your argument at HuffPo, they are more excepting of irrational concepts.
It's only a "hate symbol" because you want it to be. Have MAGA hat wearing thugs sent people to concentration camps or committed genocide? (Of course, you'll say "not yet".) This is all in your demented imagination.
How is wearing a MAGA hat wrong?
Are you for real? SO I get a little "triggered" by the vagina hats. To me it symbolizes abortion which is murder. Should I go up to folks and ask them to remove it?
Parody or mental defect; you decide.
Again, the fact that you would insult me proves that you are interested not in preventing a fight but instigating one. The great thing is that these days this is done in public where everyone can see and there is a permanent record, whether it's comments like this or a videotape like with the MAGA kids. So people can see and decide for themselves. In the past people could spin their version of events. Now it's easy to determine the truth. This will prevent escalating hostilities leading to war. And I think that's great!
I made jokes about "hat speech" before, but Dajjal seems to literally believe in the idea.
There is no fight to be had here. You're a bigot. You've associated everyone who voted for trump as a racist. You have no intention of honest arguments. You are a partisan hack without intelligent argument so you seek to silence opponents on morality grounds where you decide the rules of morality. Weak minded, dumb, bigoted people do this.
I voted for Trump, and might again depending on who he's running against. Am I a racist too?
So far your posts highlight ignorance more than racism. For example your blackface mention. They were having a blackout at the game, ie everyone wears black head to toe. Have you ever been to a sporting event during a color out event? They paint their faces that color. Red, white, whatever. You thinking this is racist shows you to be more ignorant than racist.
But you probably have made assumptions on this event merely based on the kids school color, you just havent declared it yet.
I had seen the black face charge, and was questioning it. SO it was an organized school event that had nothing to do with race. I will not hold my breath for the NYDN to retract that story either.
No, you are mentally defective though, for thinking that wearing a candidate's hat is a symbol of aggression -- even while you voted for that candidate.
I cannot comprehend you.
If you're actually triggered by a person's hat, you merit the insult.
Dont tell dajjal other infamous people who judged people on appearances.
You are the one instigating a fight when you are the one suggesting to limit speech.
LOL You're so insane Dajjal. Seriously.
The thing is, as best as I can recall, you're not even a troll account... You actually believe the stuff you write!
Wearing a political hat to a political rally, which they themselves had been attending, is not a crime. MAGA hats are not hateful, except to morons who hate America. But the insanity of people like you may well make real problems in this country, but it won't be the MAGA peoples fault.
Dajjal has been around for awhile in previous handles. He ends up getting banned because of his obsessive dorkiness.
He spazzes out completely when the subject of pills comes up (he's an anti-popper).
Anyone who is against MAGA hats should probably be on a watchlist as a likely subversive.
They should not have worn the MAGA hats. It was clearly a provocation. If I was there, I would have politely asked them to remove it.
Just like you'd have asked any kids wearing caps with hammer-and-sickle insignia to remove them. You *would* have done that, right? And I bet you ask kids to cover up their Che Guevara t-shirts all the time.
Dou-che Guevara!
And I would have politely told you to FO.
"Some are incapable of viewing the MAGA-hat-wearing teens from Covington Catholic as anything other than pure evil."
Whereas Robby thinks that 'all' hats (or anything that covers the hair) are evil.
Whereas Robby thinks that 'all' hats (or anything that covers the hair) are evil.
Robby's "rooster comb" isn't hat-hair? He has it cut that way?
The most important observation to make on this whole incident is that there is nothing to learn from it.
If this kid is racist, there isn't anything to learn from that.
If this kid isn't racist, there isn't anything to learn from that either.
There is nothing we should or shouldn't do because this kid is or isn't racist.
I defy anyone to use reason to argue otherwise.
Are you telling me that I shouldn't give a shit about bickering crowds of activists thousands of miles away from me?!?!?
That's so crazy it just might work...
The most important observation to make on this whole incident is that there is nothing to learn from it.
That depends on your point of view, doesn't it? From a certain point of view, there is an important lesson here: All white religious people really are as racist as you believed them to be.
"I defy anyone to use reason to argue otherwise."
----Ken Shultz
"That there is nothing [reasonable] to learn from it" wasn't only implied.
"" From a certain point of view, there is an important lesson here: All white religious people really are as racist as you believed them to be."'
Then I would say the lesson should be about the fallacy of generalization.
"" From a certain point of view, there is an important lesson here: All white religious people really are as racist as you believed them to be."'
Then I would say the lesson should be about the fallacy of generalization.
There's nothing to learn from the incident. There is much to learn from the the reporting and reaction.
Here is what we learned from this incident.
A nothing burger of a nothing burger happened, just as you sussed out. But it had a good picture. So every major news organization in the country decided to run with it as their number one story.
That's the real salient point.
Independent editors at the NYT, CNN, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, HuffPo, AP, PBS, NPR, ABC, etc. decided that a brief and inconsequential interaction between two people that nobody has ever heard of was not only worthy of coverage, but was the most important story on a national level.
This does not happen. It just doesn't.
No high school paper would have run that story. Because any high school paper editor would say "that isn't news".
Yet every major news organization (except FOX) ran it as their lead story. The TV networks expanded with opinion pieces about how horrible Trump supporters are for the entire day. They brought in "experts" to tell us how reprehensible and racist these teens are.
I think it's time to shut these organizations down as dangerous networks of subversives. All of their employees should be on watchlists. Freedom of the press no longer applies, as they are not the press.
These marxists are at war with America. They are the enemy within. Deal with them as such.
No.
But it is time for people to notice the propaganda machine and decide that they don't want to live that way.
It's ironic the way Robby ties the "media" into a nice little package and impunges every member of that association with the actions of a few. Can't you see you're using the same generalizations that you claim to oppose. It makes more sense to impunge the MAGA hat wearing students with the sins of Trump then it does to impunge a member of the media with the actions of another member of the media because unlike political associations there is no shared cause or overt gang mentality among the media. The media is an association but they don't share common cause and action as much as political associations do.
Actions of the few? NYT, MSNBC, CNN, WAPO, et all Ll published a story about the evil white boys attacking an indian veteran on Saturday. Blue check marks littered twitter with threats of harm to the kids all day. Only a handful have apologized since. The fact that you think only a few demeaned this kids shows how ignorant you are.
Here's the White House press corp writing "An Open Letter to Trump" in the Columbia Journalism Review announcing their intention, among other things, to form a "unified front" against Trump during his presidency.
http://www.cjr.org/covering_tr....._corps.php
Everything you read, hear, see, or know about Trump probably originated with these people:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W.....ps#Current
Dude I read it all. I even listen to rightwing radio. I knew those motherfuckers like the back of my hand. If we're making generalizations it's my position that rightwing media and commentators are the most likely to commit the mistake of "seeing what they want to see". But it's a human thing so of cousre people who identify as leftwing will fall into it
According to CNN, NYT, and wapo I'm pretty sure trump has been impeached at least 20 times already, because they're only reporting the facts. .
What a stupid and insipid response. All you know is you're a partisan hack.
Uhhh, if you can't see how consistently the MSM distorts, or outright lies, to further their leftist views... Then you have no ability to think.
Anybody who looks at both sides of a story for most of the crazy stuff the MSM says about Trump can't help but come to the conclusion they're willing to lie to further their narrative. The right wing media does this some too, but not NEARLY to the same degree. And the MSM is 90% of the media, so it's a lot bigger problem either way.
Put down the crack pipe and come back down to earth bro.
How accurate was their re-reporting of Buzzfeed's big scoop last week? You know the one that even Mueller had to come out and disavow?
Before Trump I would say that it was pretty equal. Fox used to do a good job with the straight news but of course they are mostly commentary and they lean right, and of course the pundits spin the news that way. CNN used to try to act unbiased but biased their straight news to the left. That was the difference that I noticed...Now the media has gone to full propaganda mode.
Here is an interesting compilation of President Trump "lies" that was put out by the NYT and the breakdown of how many times President Trump was lying compared to how many times the NYT lied about Trump lying. Make up your own mind but I found it interesting.
https://wattsupwiththat.com/?s=trump+lies
Pure gold!!
Most pew studies show fox as having less opinion shows than other networks.
"no shared cause or overt gang mentality among the media"
You made me log in, just because of how hard I laughed at that. Great way to start the morning. Thanks!
I knew expressing this observation would trigger rightwingers because y'all have made a world out of believing in the great media conspiracy.
#russia #resist
Skippy, long time no see.
Yes. It's a coincidence that most major media uses the exact same phrasing across their stories.
Journolist, totally, was an outlier and never happened before or since.
Synchronizing of story and narrative is just luck, I guess.
STOP! My sides can't take much more.
I don't have to (and don't!) believe in a media conspiracy. All I have to observe is that the media shares an almost identical upbringing, education, worldview, social bubble, and prejudices.
But you need to dismiss your opponents as idiots (part of that prejudice!), so I'm a conspiracy theorist for laughing at the idea that the motivation of the vast majority of members of the press isn't "changing the world" for (their idea of) the better.
Libertarian and right wing are not the same thing. That is like saying because some baseball players are white, all baseball players are white.
Is the great media conspiracy anything like the great right wing conspiracy?
because unlike political associations there is no shared cause or overt gang mentality among the media
Orly?
The word is impugn, dipshit.
"Impunges"? That's a new one on me.
It's the opposite of expunges. Or ex-sponges. Or something.
If it both impugns and impinges, impunges is perfectly cromulent.
It isn't a few, it's nearly all of them. And they do coordinate. Journo-list is very real. Amd theya remt theorems, theya re a dangerous network of seditious subversives.
They need to go.
an offensive gesture from sporting events in which team names have been taken from Native American culture
Beautiful
Offensive to the white left and one or two Native-American activists.
I grew up on the reservation. It was common to see native kids (who called themselves Indians BTW) wearing redskin jerseys and jackets, and even doing the tomahawk chop at football and basketball games. Then someone told them they had to be outraged about it. Some did, most didn't. Even one of my most militant friends (we have been friends since second grade and pretty much get along except for his political views - and even then I don't totally disagree with him or vice versa) says the whole redskins outrage is just stupid and a distraction. Oh and he still calls himself an indian.
Is the Fighting Irish offensive? The horns on the helmets of the Vikings (hint Viking never wore horned helmets, it is a caricature)?
Media still looking for ways to preserve as much of the narrative as possible.
The NY Times sent an anthropological expedition to Covington to try and make them look sinister ("...the Northern Kentucky school off the Dixie Highway had been ripped out of its overwhelmingly white, heavily Catholic, and largely Republican world and thrust into a national firestorm that touched seemingly every raw nerve in this polarized country ? race, President Trump and the behavior of young white men.")
https://nyti.ms/2MpHn6t
CNN business thinks it's found a scapegoat - some anonymous Twitter user whose footage fooled the poor innocent media (quoting a supposed expert: "we are all conditioned to react and engage or deny in specific ways. And we all did")
https://cnn.it/2Hqu5b2
Remember, they have LAYERS of fact checkers.
Should make the kids' lawsuits against them easier. After all, they shouldn't be getting played like this...
So CNN admits that its staff merely responds to their programming rather than engaging their reason. That is a rather damning excuse.
So investigative reporting doesn't investigate?
Props, Robby.
Has Popehat blocked you for being an alt-right MAGA chud yet?
and this incident will be brushed under the rug and forgotten about as quickly as possible to make room for the next 'outrageous act of 'fill in the blank'-ism...
Then that will probably be debunked, rationalized, etc... then brush that one under the rug for the next outrageous display of -ism...
Never ending story of FML that breaks credibility a little more each time. Facts don't matter when we judge news by the amount of 'clicks' or views it gets.
Covington canceled classes today due to threats of violence. Liberals doubling down on their ignorance. Weird how these SS like tactics keep streaming from the left.
Can you imagine if people on the right were doing the same thing to some hyper progressive private school in NYC or SF?
It would be LITERALLY the end of the world, and we have to kill all Trump supporters now!
IIRC there is a private school in the ATL area that specializes in LGBT students. If they had to cancel classes one day because of security concerns caused by some Conservative Viral Stupidity Congressional Democrats would be calling for the DOJ to investigate the hate crime.
Hell, if it was something as simple as a church within five miles quoting Leviticus on its reader board, they would be calling for an investigation into hate crimes.
I'd like to see the Black Hebrew Israelites be awarded as Honorary Reason Commentators.
The Black Hebrew Israelites sounds like something that would come out of the mind of Mel Brooks or Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker.
Until a couple of days ago I would never have believed that was a real group.
After some legal action, the Israeli government caved-in a few years ago and let them establish a compound or enclave in Israel -- Bwahahaw!
"Black Hebrew Israelites"?! We're the Hebrew Black Israelis!
For some reason, every time I see that, I think of the motorcycle gang in the "Every Which Way But Loose" movie.
A lesson : Most "journalists" have completely abandoned any pretense of objectivity. Even caught red-handed, they will double down on the lie and count on the mob-think dynamic to bail them out.
Splitters!
It's a 100-year-old+ thing .
I wonder if that's the group of guys I use to see in Times Square.
Very outspoken, slightly militant, yet entertaining to watch.
Yes - I've seen them in NYC too.
They have a branch here in Minneapolix and set up shop downtown...it was hilarious.
Claiming that the belated apologies are to their credit is analogous to saying that to their credit a murderer stopped stabbing when he realized the victim was dead. Even this piece does that with the tut-tutting over a supposed tomahawk chop. Is there really any doubt that if the political roles had been reversed that robby would not have bent over backwards claiming that an offensive gesture had been misinterpreted?
This was a deliberate confrontation set up by Philips with a narrative locked and loaded in the media. Drawing parallels to your glory days of the non-seminal debunking of rolling stone doesn't invalidate the fact that this is just the latest example of bad faith behavior on the part of "joirnalists," behavior for which you have nearly infinitely patience.
This was a deliberate confrontation set up by Philips with a narrative locked and loaded in the media.
So what is your actual claim? That Phillips colluded with the media ahead of time to "get" these highschool kids?
If you don't know, this is NOT the first time this EXACT same thing has been done by Phillips. He seems to be a professional victim.
HE went and got in students faces at a uni a few years ago, then went to the press and made a big "I'm a victim! Evil white people are evil!" plea.
He definitely set it up, and the media were all too happy to take the bait. I'm sure he didn't plan on this exact thing happening, as I doubt he knew this particular boys school was even in DC... But he was out looking for trouble, and swooped in when the opportunity presented itself.
Could you provide some evidence for your claims?
Wait, evidence is necessary now? Not to start the narrative, of course, but well that's different
I'm not going to look up links, but it was talked about in a YouTube video I watched earlier. Google his name and 2015, maybe with "university" in there. I'm pretty sure it was 2015.
I swear Jeff, you have no intellectual curiosity if it goes against your initial assumptions. Phillip's past has been discussed on multiple articles around this event. Be more curious.
That Jeff's 'intellectual curiosity' displays only go in one direction tells you it's not actual intellectual curiosity.
Phillip's past has been discussed on multiple articles around this event.
Translation: Jesse read a bunch of Breitbart articles.
"Translation: Jesse read a bunch of Breitbart articles"
Translation: Poor Jeffy doesn't like his narrative being destroyed so he tries to discredit any evidence that runs contrary to him. In other words, his standard modus operandi.
Is standard modus operandi redundant?
This is why you are retarded jeff. Even the wapo article mentions his 2015 complaint fucktard. You're really really dumb Jeff.
Jeff really is over the top.
This is his favorite tactic too. He'll ask you for links to something most people just know is true... Then if you waste your time finding him links, he'll say he doesn't trust the source, because reasons... Then he'll demand more links to prove your point, but refuse to google a simple search himself.
It will go on forever if you play his bullshit game. Since I know his modus operandi I don't waste my time posting links anymore.
In the video taken by the indigenous man who starts on Phillips left and moves to his right, there is a segment, after the kids start to leave when Phillips has turned when the indigenous group starts to gather at the foot of the stairs. The person who started arguing with the kid in the black hoodie about going back to Europe tells Phillips not to worry, and that we got him.. Right after that is when Phillips raises his arms above his head in a cheering motion.
It does appear that the indigenous group had something definite in mind.
But who knows? Unless they admit it--or got filmed planning it, the point is moot.
Could you provide some evidence for your claims?
The evidence has already been highlighted: his lies.
Phillip's has a past of using these events in his activism. Next you'll claim hoax hate crimes are never committed by activists.
He's a far left agitator with a, shall we say, sketchy claim as a Vietnam vet.
So what is your actual claim? That Phillips colluded with the media ahead of time to "get" these highschool kids?
Phillips engaged in dishonest political theater for his own self-aggrandizement and the media supported it because it advanced their narrative. The kids themselves were a target of opportunity.
What exactly do you think political activism is?
Phillips is obviously media savvy, and I'll bet all the money in my pocket against all the money in your pocket that he made sure the media knew he was going to go in and confront the kids, if not before the event itself then certainly before he made his move. When you're a non-white media darling it isn't all that hard to get the media's attention.
Jeffy makes wild stupid claims all the time, but when anyone else makes the slightest factual statement he demands endless proof.
God, this is insane. I feel like this is some kind of "jump the shark tank" moment.
I haven't seen anything to suggest that the kids did anything remotely wrong. In fact, it seems they comported themselves as well as could be expected dealing with racist black nationalists and racist Indians. As far as I can see, the kids were the only non-racists involved.
the smiling kid will go places in life. he showed no fear in standing for his right to be there
I think that is what many on the left see in the Covington kids, and they hate it.
Those kids are going to become respectable members of their communities, they are going to have kids, and they are going to raise them similarly.
As such it is an alternate power structure to the almighty State, and that cannot be allowed to persist freely.
Strong, free, independent people are EVIL! Everybody knows this!
A young white male who stood his ground without fear or apology in the face of a POC.
That's what's got them triggered.
EXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXACTLY!!!!!
These kids are just that, KIDS. How they reacted to both the other hate groups was damn near best case scenario. Yet somehow, they're vilified. The only people slinging insults and attempting to start shit are adults and minorities. It's become disgustingly clear who get's a "pass."
Does anyone remember the gang rape videos that surfaced a few years ago? Where was all of the outrage over those? This incident is so ridiculous. These kids did nothing wrong and the people who did are seen as some kind of victims.
"Does anyone remember the gang rape videos that surfaced a few years ago?"
Ummmm... what?

This is showing us that it is time to use force to it out the left in it's place,
Dirty hippies demand savage beatings, or they won't learn to stay under the rocks where they live. They actually think this is their country. It's not. America belongs to us.
It's a shame that Laura Wagner had to write the piece on this for the Gawker Spawn. If Anna Merlan had written it she could get pwned by Robby again.
Indeed! Very sad that the Left will twist anything into something ugly! This racial divide is exactly what MLK was trying to erase.... What a sorry world it is when a facial expressiontriggeres the absolute worst possible interpretations and triggers everyone.

Smiling While White
Ya know, I've come to the conclusion it's not possible.
2 considerably different ethnic/racial groups are ALWAYS going to be at odds. Historically this is true in pretty much 100% of cases, and with how the modern experiment in multiculturalism is going down, I am now confident it will never change.
The reality that people don't want to admit is they DO tend to prefer their own people, and feel more comfortable around their own kind. Countless scientific studies have shown in group preference being insanely strong in all groups. It's not learned either, even babies prefer to be held by people that look like them.
So basically, the entire western world is dooming itself to eternal infighting and ethnic strife by the bad immigration decisions it has made in the last couple decades. I suspect when the rest of the world pulls their heads out of their asses, this shit is going to come to a stop, and many people may well repatriate themselves. That's if we don't have a massive civil war or something crazy first... We'll see.
2 considerably different ethnic/racial groups are ALWAYS going to be at odds.
But will they always be considerably different? I think the history of the US says that's often not the case.
And multicultural societies can work. There are plenty of examples in the world and from history (look at any major city now, or ancient civilizations like Mesopotamia and Egypt). I think the problem comes when multiculturalism is seen as its own end and a good in itself and is deliberately preserved and cultivated. You get great things when cultures combine. But when minorities are encouraged to be resentful and see the majority culture as oppressive (when that is not the case), you get bad results.
Ehhhh, you just proved my point.
All multiculti societies in the past used force to hold them together. Empires have done this countless times... Yet those empires almost always broke up ALONG ETHNIC LINES as soon as the empire didn't have the power to hold them together by force.
People like THEIR culture, and THEIR people. It is biological.
The other method which can work is full assimilation. That is largely what happened in America, for white people only. But why did it work? Because after a single generation of interbreeding you can't tell an Irish-Italian from a German-French etc. We were all close to begin with, and we "melded" very quickly.
This historically HAS NOT happened with people who look dramatically different. The old "can you pass" rule I think applies, because looking similar is one of those biological triggers.
Spain is an example of cultures melding that were very different... But it took MANY centuries, and it was hell the entire time in between. I think history shows its good to trade with others, share ideas, and maybe allow a few foreigners to move to your nation... But mass migrations ALWAYS make life hell and cause tension.
The world is not utopia. Whatever minuscule nice things come from mass migration, they're not worth the hell they turn your country into for centuries on end. Look at all the trouble we have here vs Japan. Japan is WAY better off than we are because they're avoiding all the problems it has brought here.
And Spain is still not very unified. The Catalonians and Basque are constantly seeking their own independence.
Read up on ethnic Koreans in Japan, and on the Ainu.
I don't know. A lot of it just goes away. I'm not sure the average person of German descent in America even makes a particular distinction against an American of Italian or British descent or whatever.
This distinction was very true even 60 years ago. Now, I doubt many even bother, they just consider them white. This is a very concrete example, in recent times, of cultures being sort of just absorbed into things.
I feel like you're putting the cart before the horse a bit with your comment about "almost always broke up along ethnic lines." What frequently happened is that geographical regions got broken up. Over time these become distinct ethnic groups. But the pure geopolitics are probably first, and ethnicity happens over time as a group breeds.
Culture changes very fast, and I don't think there is anything particularly inherent about it.
So, the only reason why New York or Hong Kong (two very diverse cities with lots of recent immigrants), for example, haven't broken up into warring ethnic enclaves is empires holding them together by force?
Identity politics BS is probably making things worse in places like that. But they worked pretty well for a good while as culturally diverse cities, and still do for the most part.
BUCS, as I said, America melded pretty quickly and well by historical standards. This was because we ragged on people to learn English, adopt mostly British origin social norms as they had evolved in the USA, etc. Also, as I said the very fact that we were all European made a big difference.
Black, or even Chinese Americans DID NOT melt into the pot for the most part. Why? West coast Chinese people have been here well over 100 years. Let's ignore blacks for the moment. Chinese were economically successful. They became educated. Yet they still didn't melt into America the same way Italians did. Why? I think it's because whites saw them as being an "other," AND they see themselves as an "other" too.
I think this is a psychological barrier that is biological, and makes it very tough to ever NOT see yourself as 2 different groups. This is problematic inside a single state.
Whites, even those that didn't have family here pre revolution, always say "We did this. We did that." Asians, blacks, etc often say "They did this. Europeans did that." because they don't fully identify with the white founders of America in the same way whites do.
Try telling Poles, or Basques, Welsh, etc that ethnicities come AFTER the fact... Or Jews. They all maintained cultures against the states that they lived within. I'm not saying both haven't happened, but very frequently when states collapse, it happens along pre existing ethnic lines.
Zeb, uhhhh kinda? You know the government has LAWS against discrimination right? That's FORCE. Of course they don't usually use those laws against Asians or Arabs who hire exclusively others of their ethnicity. There are laws because people naturally self sort and discriminate against outsiders. Affirmative action anybody? Force.
Even in diverse cities, ever notice friend groups tend to be of the same ethnicity, maybe with a token thrown in? How is that? It's statistically impossible randomly, which means it's peoples stated preference to be mostly friends with people similar to them.
Also, do you know anything about Compton? The fucking warzone it has been since Mexicans started pouring in there and literally killing and displacing the blacks? Yeah, it's a thing. I had an interesting convo with an older black guy who lived there for decades about that shit.
How about the fact that most ethnic groups that aren't white still openly make racists comments about other races all the time? I heard Mexicans call blacks niggers about 10,000 times more than I ever heard whites do it growing up in California.
You think "Identity Politics" is some sort of crazy thing that was CONSTRUCTED out of nothing to divide people... You miss that Identity Politics IS THE DEFAULT STATE in human psychology. That is the norm. It is biological. You've been brainwashed to believe otherwise by blank slate ideology, but it is built into us by our genes. Fighting basic human nature rarely works.
I'm not saying you can't hold it together to a degree with laws, and force... But the end result of that is a disjointed, unharmonious society, with endless ethnic infighting. And it requires force (loss of freedom) to fight peoples natural inclinations towards in group preference. This perfectly describes American politics. It doesn't exist AT ALL in Japan.
America would be the same if we were only a single racial group, or at least a super majority like we used to have. I think the key is having that super majority, not a 100% pure nation, as small minorities who know the majority group is calling the shots and accept that don't seem to be much trouble, but you still get a few side perks.
In short, if Japan opened itself up to immigrants from the rest of Asia, I think they could pull an "America" within a generation or two. But if they let people pour in from all over the world, they would instantly end up with the exact same disaster that America and Europe are now dealing with.
This would be a massive downside compared to the stable and harmonious society that exists in Japan now. They can let their 5 year olds go to school alone in Tokyo for fucks sake. Who would do that in NYC? THAT is the value of social cohesion and a high trust society, which only comes with homogeneity.
The question is:
Is this nightmare we're putting ourselves through WORTH IT for whatever theoretical gains having foreigners around bring.
I don't think it is. We could have allowed in small numbers without ending up with this level of dysfunction, and still got our ethnic food joints. Chinese food spread around the whole country without needing to make the majority group a minority... Many of the groups we've let in are also higher crime, lower income, and a lot bitchier than natives too. To me the costs outweigh whatever benefits there may be, which really nobody can ever name other than food.
So if there are obvious problems, and nearly impossible to find supposed benefits... Why do it? If you for some reason think having random brown or yellow people around IN AND OF ITSELF is of SUCH massive value that it's worth destroying social cohesion and destabilizing the country... Well you're just as retarded and race obsessed as the left.
I don't care what color somebody is, I just have accepted that if somebody else is a different color they're likely to see me as an "other" and also never to assimilate into MY culture fully. I don't dislike them, I just realize that is how the world works. Reality on my part vs wishful thinking on your part.
This is going to be the downfall of the western world if we don't stop it very soon. USA is probably too late, Europe might be savable though.
Smiling is racist
Smiling *while white* is racist.
"It's only racist when Whitey does it."
The kid's smiling was a nervous/polite response. How would you respond if some guy came directly up to you beating a drum and chanting while staring you down? The guy was trying to provoke. And all the kid did was smile and stare back. Good for him. He held his ground and acted civilly. You have to be mentally ill to think the kid did something wrong.
Yeah, it's a really weird situation to be in and the kid handled himself very well. The Indian dude seems like a moron.
Too bad the AmerIndian guy didn't use more Cowbell.
Always needs more cowbell.
When I saw that AmerIndian guy beating his drum, I immediately thought of Will Ferrell beating the cowbell in Chris Parnell's face.
I think a big problem here is that racism is an almost meaningless word that really only requires rage to be employed. With the Rolling Stone story rape still retains a pretty objective definition that required adults to admit it was untrue, but racism can be anything that get you angry (and a white male in a MAGA hat is enough for most journalists) so nobody actually is burdened to revise claims of racism.
this nation needs a good old fashioned civil war...the only way to end this political discord is to cleanse america with rivers of blood...you ready?
I'm pretty sure it's coming... I don't know how much longer things can go on like this without a Boston Massacre type event happening and kicking off the killing. We're already WAY deep in the violence stage of it all, it's just got to escalate one more tiny little step, and shit will get REAL real.
I'm insulted that the liberals and their media thinks a Native American US Marine can be intimidated by such behavior.
no much a Amerindian or a Marine who chooses to pick on a kid
I love how the HIGH SCHOOL KIDS are expected to act perfectly.
Not the old man who has likely lied about his Vietnam service based on his age and all. NOTHING is expected of him.
But that 16 year old kid...yeah HE should know better.
Hey, adult military vets getting right up in 15 year olds faces and acting aggressively is perfectly fine! Who would dare say otherwise, since he wasn't white...
He was just beating a dum and the MAGA hats swarmed him and started acting like fools. But yes, they are kids. So why are they being recruited to join a grown-up political cause they aren't even old enough to vote in?
Oh, didnt see the video? Your recitation of "facts" is exceptionally incorrect.
Dam, remember, Tony is a lying sociopath.
So, you don't know what's going on again?
Do try and keep up.
At this point anyone saying the students approached the Indian can safely be called liars.
I'm not sure: "crazy stupid" seems apt.
""He was just beating a dum and the MAGA hats swarmed him and started acting like fools. "'
There is video that proves MAGA hats did NOT swarm him.
I've been playing drums for a few decades. Beating a drum in someone's face is friggin rude. You bring a hat, I'll bring a drum and I can prove it. Bang on a drum while a soundman is trying to mic up the kit, and they will usually let you know fast how rude you are being.
He was "just beating a drum" inches from the kid's face. What if it had been an African American student standing around waiting for a bus and some old Irish American (let's stipulate that he's a veteran too) walked up to him chanting some Mick music and beating a bodhran right up in the student's face. Would you say shrug and say he was "just beating a drum"? Or would you (appropriately) suggest that the Irish guy was trying to start something, while using that elementary school excuse that he wasn't actually touching his victim?
Tony, you never let facts get in the way of your (discredited) narrative, do you?
He was just beating a drum and the MAGA hats swarmed him and started acting like fools
Note the language dishonesty. Beating a drum is entirely different than walking up to someone and starting to beat a drum 4 inches from their face. On the other hand the kids aren't swarming, they're standing around. You can pinpoint the dishonesty by noting the effort it takes to cast both innocent actions as threatening and the lie of omission to make Phillips seem innocuous.
Pathetic but entirely predictable.
.......and there's the precise moment Tony throws away David Hogg.
So the Indian was in his rights to go and get in their face for political reasons... But the kids aren't able to go NON AGGRESSIVELY support their political cause?
What if it were 16 year old PRO Abortion kids Tony? Would it be cool then? Or pro Gay activists?
STFU and GTFO with your double standards.
Coming up to someone, getting in their face, chanting, and banging a drum would be considered aggressive in any other context.
Except when a minority does it to a white male.
Then it's the white male's fault for not averting his eyes and shuffling out of the way in deference.
What has the Left so triggered is a young white male who refuses to know his place. He might give other white males the idea that they don't need to apologize for being born a white male either.
I think I'm more bothered by the fact that a bunch of trenagers from an all man catholic high school feels entitled to tell women what they should or shouldn't do with their bodies.
They are actually saying what you shouldn't do to the organism that has a unique DNA.
"I oppose the Freedom of Assembly in the First Amendment...."
I like how the goalposts keep shifting. It's getting harder to pretend as if the outrage mob isn't motivated by bigotry of their religion, color, and sex.
I don't oppose their right to do it but i think their opinion on the matter is irrelevant and is unlikely to be their own.
"I don't oppose their right to protest, I just think their protest is disingenuous, because I'm the kind of individualist that likes to make broad stereotypes of people based upon their affiliation..."
According to your last post your opinion isn't exactly your own either...
I am bothered that there is a class of human that is considered outside the protection of the law and may be killed out of hand.
We arent allowed to discuss Obama bombing us citizens abroad.
That's nice. I also disagree with them about abortion. But if you are more bothered by some kids holding pretty mainstream views about abortion than by this deliberate smear of some kids who did nothing wrong, I'd suggest you examine your priorities.
As opposed to what they do the other human being they happen to be carrying?
Comparing what happens to that child to another person's 'entitled' speech is evil.
"How dare teenagers have an opinion on whether parents should be able to murder their children?!"
Robby just torched his career in the world of journalism. At best he'll get to be a Jesse Singal where progressive activists constantly try to get him fired from his job. Most likely he'll be confined to the ghettos of libertarian and conservative punditry.
Remember that next time you want to trash him. It would have been easier for him to just parrot the status quo talking point, but he didn't.
Except all the times he does... A lot of the Reason writers will toss out something sane, and rational once in awhile... Then 2 articles later they're back to being just as deluded as CNN is. This is the kind of article that used to be EVERY Reason article back in the day, now it's a rare treat.
I don't know. I think Robby gets it right (even if he often throws in his trademark equivocations) a lot more often than not.
this comment is not credible.
So, you're saying I don't think that?
I'm saying robbie and his inference on what is and is not credible regarding the kavanaugh hearings was a joke.
Bingo!
Good for you. He also said some quite sensible things regarding the whole Kavanaugh mess.
Something about broken clocks and two times a day ?.
They're all okay sometimes. But it's the general demeanor too. They constantly try to pretend that every time this happens it's an innocent mistake, or confirmation bias or something... When it's obviously a concerted effort to smear anything to the right of Mao.
And the way they word things, say things, and even the stories they cover show that Reason in general is barely better. There are a TON of stories that pop up I hear about through indie media that Reason absolutely SHOULD be covering, BUT THEY WON'T. Because they don't fit the narrative. That in and of itself shows how biased this place is.
I have no more benefit of the doubt left to give any of these people, because they don't deserve it.
That's how propaganda works. The Propagandists NEVER admit what they are doing.
They need people to believe.
Yup. They need to believe all the times they're caught lying were good faith mistakes... That way they will still trust you for the other lies that they don't learn are lies.
Robby fought the narrative and made a home run. And this is the second time he's done that. Think about that. He's written the kind of story that most journalists never manage to write, and he just did it again,
But politically, it's the wrong kind of story. So, the official praise will be faint of course.
Yeah... Except this time he didn't break shit. People on YouTube and elsewhere pointed all this out, and Robby obviously just saw it and reported. Him working for a semi respectable outfit is all he has going here versus the guys on YouTube.
He has also NOT done this for tons of other times when indie people/journalists have pointed out identical and equally big stories, because I guess he didn't like those angles or whatever... Too right wing for him in some cases maybe?
The Rolling Stone thing he genuinely dug up from what I understand, but not here.
"Yeah... Except this time he didn't break shit. People on YouTube and elsewhere pointed all this out, and Robby obviously just saw it and reported. ... The Rolling Stone thing he genuinely dug up from what I understand, but not here."
Fair point. But on the other hand Robby actually did write a story about it. At worst, he was far better than your average journalist regarding this story. Indeed, I don't see any other Reason writers trying to counter the narrative.
Well, if somebody deserves to be honored simply for telling the truth in an article, when there is extensive video footage showing the truth... That's a sad state of affairs. That doesn't say anything impressive about Robby, it just means everybody else is even fucking worse.
It's like giving somebody a cookie for NOT murdering somebody. Color me not impressed.
The Rolling Stone thing he genuinely dug up from what I understand,
Not quite. Commenters (including myself, although on McArdle's blog not here) called the story bullshit immediately and he was the first journalist writing for a paid site to write it publicly. In fact I think he wrote an article previously which did not reference the hoax possibility, although maybe that was another Reasoner.
I'm not terribly surprised. When I saw Tucker talking Robby up like he broke this story through his own tenacity is made me wonder if it wasn't that for RS too. The truth is that nowadays almost EVERYTHING is getting broke by random people, YouTubers, Bloggers, etc just because of the sheer volume of people who dig into these things when they come up. It's crowd sourcing the truth really.
Robby needs publicity for his upcoming book.
Even Shikha occasionally isn't to bad. Her article on the democrats outright refusal to negotiate with Trump wasn't as odorous as she normally is.
LOL I actually thought the same thing. She had a bunch of bleeding heart nonsense in there too, but better than most of her articles.
"Except all the times he does... A lot of the Reason writers will toss out something sane, and rational once in awhile"
Even when they're engaged in their propaganda you can see tells of their vestigial rationality and honesty. The True Leftists lie glibly and without hesitation. Many Reason writers struggle not to lie, and so they leave out obvious facts, and qualify their statements to avoid lying.
The odd omissions and constraints always point to the facts that contradict their narrative.
Yup. That's about it with a lot of it.
I still just don't understand how people can leave out blatant facts, that you KNOW they must know when writing about some of these subjects... How can people just lie like that? Especially when they KNOW BETTER on a lot of the flaws in leftist thinking.
You guys are all so sweet.
But I'd still like to see the OTHER story.
The one that got shit-canned because it became obvious really quick that this was going to be the standard 'left screams/right caves' outrage mob.
The knee jerk story.
Let's try again...
You guys are all so sweet.
But I'd still like to see the OTHER story.
The one that got shit-canned because it became obvious really quick that this wasn't going to be the standard 'left screams/right caves' outrage mob.

The 'to be sure' narrative.
Don't think it exists? Then why is Robby the only Reason writer on this?

Well, I'm glad Reason actually covered this story right.
I do laugh when they once in awhile actually call out the MSM for their bias though... It's only funny because Reason themselves are just as deluded and biased most of the time of course.
I do wish you would quit black listing lots of other important, interesting stories you refuse to cover because they don't fit the narrative.
Also, you people who still try to deny there is a consistent, left wing bias in the MSM that is willing to lie and distort to push their narrative... Wake up! That is LITERALLY all the MSM does. It's propaganda for the left, nothing more, and nothing less. CNN used to be fairly even keeled 30 years ago, but it ain't 1989 anymore...
I'm not sure I'll say that it's nothing but leftist propaganda, but there certainly is a lot of slant. And does seem to be getting worse.
I noticed that on NPR they seem to have decided to refer to the March for Life as "the anti-abortion march". I'm very much pro-legal abortion, but that drives me nuts. I want to ask them why they don't refer to the Women's March as "the left-wing identity politics and feminism march".
What you are describing for NPR is propaganda, Zeb.
We dont have discussions about Constitutional authority for abortions. Its settled Constitutional law! Roe v. Wade is a court decision not any specific protection in the Constitution like say the 2nd Amendment and guns. Actually, IMHO medical privacy or privacy in general would easily fall under the 9th Amendment. The SCOTUS chose a different route that clearly failed to create established law on abortion rights.
The strategy behind Lefty media propaganda is to keep the discussion from happening by controlling the narrative. Same with calling people racists or rapists, when there is zero evidence that they are.
To me, it indicates how desperate the Left really is. We Libertarians can openly discuss topics because we hold the moral and legal high ground.
Sure, CNN will report straight on a cute dog story or something... But any single time that anything remotely political is discussed, the entire MSM/NPR etc ALL distort or lie to inflict maximum damage to the right.
When can you recall them intentionally distorting facts, or lies of omission, etc AGAINST a left wing politician or cause? I can't think of a single one, although there may be one or two sometimes.
It's the consistency of the bias/lies that gives the game away.
Kudos Robby, you named a name. Sure, it's from Deadspin, so hardly punching up. But it is a start.

I don't know how anyone can believe the statement that kid put out, claiming that he was silently praying. Come on.
"I don't know how anyone can believe the statement that kid put out, claiming that he was silently praying. Come on."
Why would you not believe it? He's a religious kid who goes to a religious school on a Right to Life field trip. He was confronted by an aggressive man and put in an awkward situation. Some people's reaction is going to be prayer.
And why would you care in any case? It doesn't change anything that happened of course.
Essentially you are attacking his motive without any evidence.
You're right. I'm certain he was daydreaming about f-ing a cheerleader. You can tell by the sly grin and far away eyes.
Because you wouldn't do it, does that mean others won't?
the kids teeth are messed up. he was smiling and when he realized the cameras were on him he continued smiling but closed his mouth, hence the smirk. the left is bullying a kid because he had a weird facial expression because he was self conscious. absolutely pathetic.
This didn't happen by accident. The entire mainstream media has made it their project for the last 3 years to paint President Trump and anybody who supports him as a hateful, deplorable racist. People respond to conditioning. Robby, every time you say something like "To be sure, President Trump is a hateful racist' to excuse the latest Left-wing violent attack, you are supporting this. In many ways, the damage is already done.
"He did not know how long she had been looking at him, but perhaps for as much as five minutes, and it was possible that his features had not been perfectly under control. It was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in any public place or within range of a telescreen. The smallest thing could give you away. A nervous tic, an unconscious look of anxiety, a habit of muttering to yourself?anything that carried with it the suggestion of abnormality, of having something to hide. In any case, to wear an improper expression on your face (to look incredulous when a victory was announced, for example) was itself a punishable offence. There was even a word for it in Newspeak: facecrime, it was called." -1984 George Orwell
When I first came to Ukraine, I was told by a person I was working with that back in the day they were taught to walk down the street quickly, keeping their heads up, ignoring other people even friends and never to show any fear or nervousness lest you looked guilty.
Look - that is all the left has,
the claim that you are a RAAAAAACIST!, or a RAPIST! (maybe even both).
And of course the media will support them in that.
A rapacist?
But MAGA hats and anti-abortion marches! I say we suspend the anti-cyber bullying rules for the duration of this crisis.
WHO'S WITH ME?
Oh, everyone? Good.
Soave says we're seeing what we want to see. I say called as seen.
The squirrles seem to have eaten my previous post. So I apologize if this is a double post. No one is harder on Robby than I am. But, in this case, Soave has been pretty much the only reasonable voice on this. Not only was he not taken in by the initial reports, but also Soave seems to understand the absurdity of thinking an argument between some high school students and a kook activist, no matter what happened, is somehow emblematic of anything larger than the people involved or in any way warrant national news coverage.
The contrast between Soave and a whole ton of people on the right who should have known better but instead rushed to get their virtue signal on against the evil deplorables from Kentucky is stark to say the least.
Robby has a book coming out. Its all about books hype for awhile.
I don't think Soave has learned much of anything.
Soave is the most frustrating writer at Reason. I agree with you he nailed it here.
The Gillette ad thing though....he needed his face shoved into a Cookie Monster ice-cream cake.*
*Happened to me on my 12th birthday. My great uncle (may he RIP) told me to smell the black eye and dumbass here obliged.
He didn't break anything. Independent media and individuals on YouTube etc caught this shit. Robby just works for a well-ish known magazine. But still, better than being one of the liars!
I never said Robby did break anything.
I agree. And he deserves credit.
I was gonna compare it to Duke lacrosse depending on what happens to them.
Deadspin? That's still around?
The DA who brought the charges against the 3 Duke Lacrosse players was removed from the case and ultimately resigned from his office rather than face disbarment due to his misconduct on the case. The three players were exonerated of all charges. Crystal Mangum, the woman who accused the players of rape, was convicted in 2013 of murder in the 2011 stabbing death of her boyfriend.
Know who the real shit heads are?
The adults. The adults at the scene and the adults reacting to it.
The teenagers are the ones who taught the adults a lesson.
And that lesson was to show the adults are irresponsible retards.
As for Nathan. 65 years-old, beating a drum and provoking kids? Grow up and get a real job.

Or the black guys who hurl an extended string of offensive bigotry at a group of teenagers.
The narrative is that as this kid's friends swarmed the Indian guy and started acting out racist gestures and chants and dances, this kid, alone among the MAGA hats, simply was enraptured by native tribal music.
Whatever. Kids are stupid. Boys who never get to see girls and are discouraged from masturbating probably become racist just as a psychological release.
Evidently AmerIndia drum beater is also stupid and so are Black Hebrews.
You got one part sorta right: Kids are stupid but they can be quite perceptive. Here, the kids actually handled it better than the stupid fuckheaded adults.
I have a 13 year-old. She can be just as infuriatingly absurd as she can spot bull shit. THAT'S WHAT TEENAGERS DO.
And for adults to want to destroy them is abhorrent and immoral. In this case, I have no problem if an adult - like Kathy Griffin or Shaun King - get a beating for their incendiary and irresponsible behaviour towards children.
One of my favorite aspects of the right-wing narrative of this idiotic thing is that all the "adults" are in cahoots with each other.
Never trust anyone over 30!
Not really: certain classes of people tend to be stupid simultaneously and in sync.
They're not trying. Or rather, they're too stupid to realize their groupthink is broken.
And you're not talking about the antiabortion tweens all wearing the same hat, right?
I'm saying that anyone who thinks that the media was in cahoots to destroy these kids, is actually doing better than the media that pretends they always know better what's really going on.
After all, they are professionals with degrees and intelligence, right?
Nevermind: The fourth estate is awesome, always, because "journalism" sounds good!
Who gives a shit what they were supporting/protesting and what they were wearing?
Until your ilk take over and rip up the Constitution with your fangs, it's still damn FREE COUNTRY.
Cahoots or not, the adults are the shit heads here and that's the lesson for these kids: Humans are shitty people when gripped by their ideology.
There's the thing. They did nothing wrong. At worst they employed some tired cultural stereotypes about Indians.
"that's the lesson for these kids: Humans are shitty people when gripped by their ideology."
Rufus wins the internet!!
They weren't all wearing MAGA hats, but if they were ? so what?
Lefties tend to have a Hive Mind.
He's doing a pretty good job of proving that by denying the facts the extended video shows. And he thinks other people are fact deniers.
"probably become racist just as a psychological release."
Please, Tony, tell us what this kid did that was racist. He endured actual racist taunting from a group of black lunatics for nearly an hour, then stood still when a guy walked up and got in his face and (apparently) tried to provoke something.
Standing still and saying nothing is racist now? The bar for judging racism has now been lowered all the way to the floor...?...
All his friends swarmed the Indian guy and started in some admittedly not sophisticated racial mocking. It's all on video.
But it's totally possible this one kid was simply enraptured by the music.
There isn't any of that on the video. No one said anything racist to the guy. Stop lying Tony. Everyone can watch the entire two hour video and see that you are lying. Go lie about things that can't be disproven you dope.
Needs more African Israelites.
To Tony, if someone is wearing a MAGA hat, then anything bad you say about them is truthy enough.
That's pretty much his point.
That he's not embarrassed by that and doubles down is quite telling.
Now tell me how judging people for their clothing is pretty much like rape.
I will, if you first tell me how strawberry antibiotics are faster than orange.
Are you off your meds?
Tony and his Lefty friends sure do project their racism on other people.
You just can't keep up.
"But it's totally possible this one kid was simply enraptured by the music."
That's a fail. You can't point to anything this kid did wrong so you make up some bullshit to insult him anyway.
Did you even read this article or watch the entire video? The Native American went in looking for a confrontation and he got his wish. The only racists here were the black guys. And I'm sure if some asshole came up and got right in your face and started banging a fucking drum you'd show the same restraint that this kid did. Right? LOL.
I thought your side was supposed to be the party of reason and logic and truth. But you can't even watch video evidence of something and see what obviously happened. You're as full of shit as the #MAGA crowd.
The "black guys" are irrelevant to the story in the news. The kids, kids as they may be, swarmed the Indian guy and started mocking him in a racist way. The face kid stood there like a douchecanoe for whatever reason. Maybe it was--among all the racist hollering of his friends--an innocent gesture of peace. But his letter read like a goddamn fucking lie. And the Indian guy had a different take, so it's at best he-said, he-said. And I'm so sure the teenage boy who got in trouble was the one telling the truth.
You just keep doubling down.
Sad.
You can't even read the article and stop being wrong.
I watched the videos. Did you?
Wow: even sadder.
Is this why the media got it so wrong?
They're so ideologically biased that they can't help but create their own reality and embarrass themselves?
""I watched the videos. Did you?"'
So you saw the part where Phillips walks up to the crowd, but you want to continue the claim that they surrounded him?
It's amazing. Just stunning how he's behaving.
THE KIDS DID NOTHING WRONG.
"The "black guys" are irrelevant to the story in the news."
The media and Twitter are ignoring the flagrant racism of the black guys because the kid that didn't do anything is wearing a MAGA hat. The Native American says (among one of his three justifications that I've seen) that his reason for approaching the high school kids to begin with was to deescalate a confrontation between the black guys and the high school kids. Seems pretty relevant to me.
Note that you didn't say what you'd have done if you'd been standing there and some asshole came up to you unprovoked and got in your face and started beating a drum. Doubt you'd show as much restraint as the MAGA kid did.
And is it ok in leftworld now for adults to accost minors now? It's sort of become a trend. I thought people expected adults to act like adults, but I guess politics supersedes decent behavior now, huh?
Ignoring obvious truth because it doesn't fit the narrative - it's the one thing that could united the right and the left.
Why do you keep lying so? Are you incapable of honesty?
The kids, kids as they may be, swarmed the Indian guy and started mocking him in a racist way
All of this was proven false by the video.
And the Indian guy had a different take, so it's at best he-said, he-said.
Nope. It's he said versus the video.
You really are a tool.
It isn't "he-said, he-said". There's 2 hours of video that show the complete event. The kids did NOT swarm Phillips ("the Indian guy"); he walked right into the middle of their group. Sandmann stood there and did nothing to provoke anything. If in your wacked-out world view that makes him a "douchecanoe" (whatever that is supposed to be), so be it. His friends were not hollering anything at all racist. "The Indian guy" (interesting that you can't even be bothered to state his name) does not have a "different take", he's distorting events in service of his narrative. And yes, Sandmann is telling the truth. Don't believe it? Watch the video. If you can't be bothered to do that, then STFU.
Actually he does have a different take, at last count three of them which all contradict each other and the video evidence. But hey, now he is going to go talk to the kids and teach them about the evils of cultural appropriation, because he is just such a forgiving person.
the kids did not swarm around him they parted to allow him in because they thought he was okay but soon realized he and his group were assholes. Philips was not alone he had back up with him. Lucky one smart kid stayed put as was his right
Stand yer ground!
What are Indians doing takin er lernd anyway?
Public land is everyones land he had no right to try to intimidate a boy to move. Any other time some adult tries to intimidate a kid the adult would be arrested which is what should have been done here. where were the cops to protect these kids from Hecklers.
You don't advance your position by making yourself sound like a moron. But don't let me stop you.
Tony, you would make a good Nazi. You're soulless sociopath, and a lying propagandist.
This country will be a lot better off when you and your friends are gone.
He approached them. Not vice versa
Nope.
Only racist comments were by the "Black Hebrews" and Phillips' entourage.
When one of the kids pointed out that everybody, including the Natives, actually came from Africa, he signalled for him to not try and argue and exacerbate the situation.
So, you got literally zero correct. Good job.
I tried to post this information above to Tony, but the Reason squirrels are out, posts are lagging and some are not getting on at all.
Actually, those who some like to refer to as "Native American" are Athabascan in origin, meaning they trace back to Siberian natives who migrated to North America across the Bering Strait across the land bridge which ultimately sank and became the Aleutian Islands. From there they moved east and south across both Canada and what is now the United States. Most if not all tribes in Canada, Alaska and the United States can trace their origins to this initial migration.
None of the people I grew up with on the rez call themselves Native American, unless they are playing the victim card. Usually the refer to themselves as inidians or American Indians.
And some stupid kids never lose stupdity.
You didn't.
Swarmed? The indian drummer walked into the middle of the kids. The kids, except the smirker, cleared out of their way and then filled back in.
Your racist narrative is BS.
I watched it with my own eyes. Did you?
I can't tell if this brute force denial of reality strategy is an innovation of the Trumptards or a sign of desperation from people who backed the wrong fucking horse and can't take it back.
We all watched it Tony.
We all saw the part where Phillips walks up to the crowd. You either didn't see the video that shows that or are too partisan to acknowledge your mistake.
People have been issuing apologies that were quick to fault the kids. (Scott Adams, and Jamie Lee Curtis, for two examples)
Probably a little of both, it is Tony we ae talking about.
You clearly did not. "Vietnam Vet" (and that is a lie, amusingly) Phillips walked up to the kids. They didn't move.
Smug, self-righteous a-holes on all sides. Lemme see:
Teenage boys in MAGA hats at an anti-abortion rally. Check
American Indians beating drums and calling for reparations. Check
Black Hebrew Israelis spewing racist garbage. Check
So holding any opinion you disagree with makes you a smug asshole? Really? If not, how does them supporting Trump and being pro life automatically make them a smug asshole? There seems to be a smug asshole here Eric and it is you.
I think that the look on that kid's face was the photo definition of smug-asshole. Had he been wearing a Che shirt you'd agree. But your head is so far up the collective Republican asshole John, you wouldn't realize that your stances are as predictable as the cycle of the moon.
I think that the look on that kid's face was the photo definition of smug-asshole.
So the look on someone's face in any given moment defines their character?
Thanks for identifying yourself as a complete moron.
No John, clearly it's the political message on his hat that determines what's in his heart. If he supports Trump and Republicans, you'll defend him even if he eats a baby on live TV. If it were a Che shirt, all else being equal, you'd be involuntarily releasing your bowels in a fit of unrestrained rage. Nobody cares what you have to think, John, because the only thing you have to think is "Republican good!"
Good point! Imagine if a bunch of African American high schools students in town for a Million Man March were wearing Che shirts, and an old white Vietnam veteran walked up to one of the while chanting and beating on a bodhr?n, tambourine, or some other hand-held drum and that he continued beating that drum inches from the African American's face. If the student reacted, not by pushing the old white guy out of his space, but by standing still and smirking at him, I'm sure that not only John, but every right-thinking person would be condemning that smug black student for his disrespect in failing to get out of the way of the white elder. People like Reza Aslan would be talking about how punchable the student's face was. People like Kathy Griffin would be angrily demanding that their names be publicized. And people like William Kristol would be talking about "the contrast between the calm dignity and quiet strength of [the old white guy beating the bodran] and the behavior of [Malcolm X] brats." Salon and Slate would be nodding their heads, if not joining in the universal condemnation. That's right, isn't it?
Any veteran beating on a tambourine is a Hippie, not some Conservative Patriot.
Che shirts make you smug-assholes. It fetishizises Che who hated homos, rights, and America.
I've finally figured you out LC. You're actually Trey Parker channeling his inner Eric Cartman on this site for the lulz. Amirite?
I've finally figured you out LC. You're actually Trey Parker channeling his inner Eric Cartman on this site for the lulz. Amirite?
Correction: strike "Malcolm X" and insert "Che"
+1...Nailed it!
"No John, clearly it's the political message on his hat that determines what's in his heart. If he supports Trump and Republicans, you'll defend him even if he eats a baby on live TV. If it were a Che shirt, all else being equal, you'd be involuntarily releasing your bowels in a fit of unrestrained rage."
And you'd be standing on the opposite side of John bellowing that the kid in the Che shirt didn't do anything. John's your fucking twin, Tony.
And you'd be standing on the opposite side of John bellowing that the kid in the Che shirt didn't do anything. John's your fucking twin, Tony.
I don't think anyone can be judged by one momentary look on their face. Go fuck yourself Bevis. Seriously, go fuck yourself. If you want to claim I have an opinion, show a link to where I said it. Or just ask me and I will tell you. If you are too stupid and lazy to do either, shut up and spare the bored your ignorance.
How is a Che t-shirt the equivalent of a MAGA hat, anyway? If I see that, I see someone I think it is hopelessly naive, projecting their values onto a historical figure that did not share those values.
You should say something like a "I'm still with her" t-shirt or something. Or an Obama t-shirt. You may think Make America Great Again is some kind of ritualistic, jingoistic chant, but no more than "Yes we can."
That's some mighty fine police work progjection, Lou Tony.
Nobody cares what you have to think, John, because the only thing you have to think is "Republican good!"
That's a pretty amusing comment from you.
Why are you only White-Knighting the kids John. I disparaged all three groups. You wouldn't want the others here to think you're a Republican hack, would you?
A. They are kids
B. They did nothing wrong
C. The other two groups were adults
D. the other two groups were offensive and confrontational shit starters
If you think calling a strike a strike is 'white knighting' then you can go fuck yourself.
Speaking of Republican hacks. Do you all keep a separate chat to alert the collective to circle the wagons? It's like you all swarm certain articles with your group-think.
Keep defending the indefensible 'eric.'
What, EXACTLY, did the kids do? Not react when a geriatric activist was an asshole to them or when black nationalists were bigots to them?
Yeah, that is primo asshole behavior.
They wore a MAGA hat in the climate of #resist, #nevertrump movments.
And they were 'smug.' Never forget the smug.
Because if progressives know anything they know that one should never be smug.
And were they smug, or was the kid's smile a nervous, confused smile as he claims? Eric and Tony should work for the FBI with their ability to read what is in people's hearts.
They were taunting his chant and doing the tomahawk chop. You people are ridiculous, completely ridiculous.
First: he approached them, got in their face, they were confused (they even said so in the video) as to what was going on. Why are Native Americans beyond ridicule? Especially when he invaded their personal space. He deserved anything he got at that point, but for the most part the kids behaved fairly mildly. As for your reverence for NA, you are so full of it it is funny. I grew up on the Rez, they get free housing, free food, guaranteed employment (if they want it) with the tribe, free college, and checks from the government (and per diem checks if the tribe has any mineral wealth, businesses, farms, ranches etc, casinos are huge money makers for a lot of tribes). The money is often mismanaged, and corruption within the tribal government is usually rampant. As for your narrative about peacefully living, that is just plain bullshit. The Azte, Inca and Mayans comquered neighbors, enslaved them and practiced human sacrifices with captives. The Anasazi people practiced cannibalism. There is plenty of evidence of warfare from the earliest archeological records of human habitation in North America. Go spend some time on the Rez, not just visit it, live there. Then get back to me.
So, women in short dresses are sluts, right? Right?
What about what the boys did offends you so much? Is what they did not acceptable in public?
Why didn't you note that the Indian went up to the boy and beat the drum directly in the kids face? Is that acceptable behavior?
Why are you less offended by the flagrantly abusive harassment coming from the black men?
Based on your own characterizations I'd say you are the bigot here.
A MAGA hat is a dog-whistle and everyone here with a brain knows it. Why are your political senses so finely tuned that you can so easily identify a racist in a MalcomX shirt or communist in a Che shirt, but that MAGA wearing kid is just fine?
A MAGA hat is a dog-whistle and everyone here with a brain knows it.
It may be for you but it is not for me or anyone I know. Why is it a dog whistle? You think it means racism. Okay, the people who wear those hats disagree. They don't think it means that at all. So, who are they dog whistling other than you?
Beyond that, what the fuck does that even mean? Even if they really were wearing a symbol that everyone agrees is racist, so what? Maybe you missed the memo but it is a free country. Just because someone wears a hat you don't like doesn't give you a right to harass them or make them guilty of something they didn't do.
There really is no way to tell you to fuck off in strong enough terms. I don't care what hat they were wearing or what you think of them. They are just as free to wear whatever hat they want or think whatever they want as you are. Go to hell.
". They are just as free to wear whatever hat they want or think whatever they want as you are. Go to hell."
You do realize that the kid's right to wear a MAGA hat is matched by the Indian's right to drum and the Black Israeli's right to rant? Further, my right to call ALL of them assholes is another protected right. Your choice to wear right-wing blinders are your right too.
Sure they have the right to do that too. I said exactly as much above. But wearing a hat is not the same as screaming in someone's face or calling them racist names. That you equate those things just show you are a fucking moron. Sorry dude, but wearing a MAGA hat isn't the same as screaming racist epitaths. The proof of that is in the literally millions of blacks and Hispanics who voted for Trump. Trump didn't get a majority of that vote but he a third of the Hispanic and around 10% of the black vote. There is no way to square that fact with your claim that wearing a Trump hat is the same as calling someone a racist name. To claim it is just shows how stupid you are.
I've not said what I equate a MAGA hat with. You're the one who is assuming it's racism. My statement was that anyone wearing one deserves to be called an asshole. Especially one feigning moral superiority at an anti-abortion rally. This dipshit kid can be forgiven if he doesn't know Trump's true colors. At this point, he's just parroting his parents politics. What's your excuse?
Yeah, that's what this whole thing is about - a 'celebration' of freedom.
With public condemnations, doxxing, and death threats.
When did I defend any of that. I despise everyone involved in this episode, including the media, and every person who decided to use it as an opportunity to preen. The main difference between me and you on this subject is that I cast a pox on both houses and am not willing to side with any devil.
No the main difference is you have gone out of your way to find something to condemn the kids over to fit your narrow world view.
Finally the truth. You're a moron.
"Why are your political senses so finely tuned that you can so easily identify a racist in a MalcomX shirt or communist in a Che shirt, but that MAGA wearing kid is just fine?"
That you equate Che (an actual mass murderer) with Trump says more than I ever could.
I get that you types think Trump is pure as angelic tears. It's cute that grown men think that.
A straw-man says "what"?
Yeah, I could almost feel the flying straw through my screen.
Yeah, I could almost feel the flying straw through my screen.
About the only redeeming aspect of your character is that, if someone keeps you at it long enough, you'll inevitably show your mendacity.
The attempted condescension is an obvious tell.
Thinking Che was a violent, ruthless monster who became an opponent of liberty and freedom doesn't also mean that they find Trump likeable or even a good president.
but that MAGA wearing kid is just fine?
MAGA has never been adequately shown to be inherently racist, you retarded and/or disingenuous twat. Do you know who was virulently racist against black people? Che Guevara was.
Says the guy who just called out straw-man arguments. Jesus Christ, you right-wing types need some predators to thin the herd around here. LMAO.
That wasn't a straw-man. I drew the same comparison you did. Try to keep up.
Eric, the kids are presumably good people who did nothing wrong. The other groups are hateful subversives calling for racial hatred and violence.
There is no equivalence. So just stop.
While some of the teens probably could have done a few things differently LET'S NOT FORGET...they are in high school....what's the excuse for the adult agitators who verbally attacked a group of mostly white, Catholic Trump supporting teens....no that's not racist is it---gimme a break.
Way too many people simply jumped to conclusions and assumed a native American cannot possibly be instigating anything or be hateful too...just like the black hebrew group who these so-called "native Americans" should have been targeting with their comments instead of teens who were being verbally assaulted.
Like the headlines says... YOU SEE WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE"....like most of the racist media out there fanning the flames and targeting not REAL HATERS but those that fit their narrative plain and simple.
These boys did great!! Well done...stand your ground. Jesus Christ said turn the other cheek but never did he say back down and shrink away....quite the contrary he was subversive himself for a reason...but then this God-less media probably have never read the Bible or would know what it looks like anyway...
Where are the Lefty "WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN" adults?
The push laws that prohibit under 21 kids from smoking, drinking, walking to school, owning guns, etc.
Now Lefties dont want to protect these kids at all.
Not only do they not want to not protect them they want to punish them for life by denying them entrance to universities or any job whatsoever
White Christian males.
I wonder where they fall on the feminist intersectional harassment chart.
They don't even.
I wonder why.
Get a clue: we do not have "news" broadcast to us in the sense of providing accurate information to empower us to reach an informed and objective conclusion. Honestly we've never really had much of that; the news is just as much propaganda as it was during WWII when Rosie the Riveter was elevated to an American Saint, and the war effort on the home front was all about whipping the "Japs" and the "Krauts,"
Now it's mostly a narrative to convince us of how bad we are and "how far we have to go." Just yesterday a couple of dumb girls who attended [now past tense] and posted a video of themselves in black face. Portrayed on the nightly news in juxtaposition to MLK Day as solid evidence of how awful and lacking the nation is and failing to meet the "Dream."
It is all narrative. Even if everything said about this event were true, there is no rational reason why anyone except those involved should care or find it newsworthy. It is only being made into a national news story because it is a means by which the media can claim that the entire nation is racist and in need of Progressive guidance.
The University of Oklahoma
There be squirrels
Brand new state, Brand new state, gonna treat you great!
Gonna give you barley, carrots and pertaters,
Pasture fer the cattle, Spinach and Termayters!
Flowers on the prairie where the June bugs zoom,
Plen'y of air and plen'y of room,
Plen'y of room to swing a rope!
Plen'y of heart and plen'y of hope!
Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain,
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.
Oklahoma, ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk makin' lazy circles in the sky.
We know we belong to the land
And the land we belong to is grand!
And when we say, yeeow-yip-i-o-ee ay!
We're only sayin' You're doin' fine, Oklahoma! Oklahoma, okay
Now it's mostly a narrative to convince us of how bad we are and "how far we have to go." Just yesterday a couple of dumb girls who attended the University of Oklahoma [now past tense; they were forced to drop out] and posted a video of themselves in black face. Portrayed on the nightly news in juxtaposition to MLK Day as solid evidence of how awful and lacking the nation is and failing to meet the "Dream."
In the hierarchy of blame, it is crystal clear who belongs at the top: The California schoolteacher by the name of Talia who used Instagram and the Twitter account @2020fight to spread the misleading video in the first place. The most amazing thing about all this is that none of it was newsworthy at all ... except that a lie made it news.
That's a sock account for a paid political operation. 'She' was averaging something like 130 tweets a day.
Although, if there are lawsuits I surely hope that name gets served, discovery will tell us a lot.
I think it will.
All said and done, there really is nothing to see here. A group of teenagers from a Catholic high school were waiting for a bus to take them back to the campus. A small group of Black Hebrew Israelites were calling out racist insults at the teenagers, who did not respond in kind. A self-serving "indigenous activist" saw fit to insert himself between BHI and the teenagers while banging his drum; the teenagers did not give him the response he wanted so he ginned something up to promote whatever his campaign is. Nobody got beaten up, no property was vandalized. The most that can be said is that there was an open exchange of points of view, a lot of sound and some amount of fury leading to no harm done. It's called free speech in the public square. Time to move on.
It is like the picture of the evil security guarf sicking his dog on the peaceful Native Protesters at Standing Rock. What they don't tell you is that the protestors were on private property, not on the reservation. Had been ordered to leave and the aforementioned protestors had been throwing rocks at the dog to rile it up just before the picture was taken.
It comes down to that nobody cares what a bunch of Kentucky hayseeds do on their field trip.
Kentucky hayseeds? The school is located in an affluent suburb 10 miles from Cincinnati.
Lost among all the bullshit is the fact that kids were bused in to support the federal government forcing women to give birth against their will like some kind of sci-fi horror dystopia. Of course no libertarian could support this nonsense.
Yes lost among all this bullshit is that people have the right to hold opinions you don't like and you want that stopped.
Look Tony, everyone on this board knows you are a straight up totalitarian fascist whose entire purpose in life seems to be exacting revenge on anyone who holds a view different from yours. You don't need to spend so much time reminding us of what we already know. And we can only tell you to go fuck yourself so many times before it gets boring.
It's just that the more I see young people in public, the more pro-abortion I become.
Your hatred for people explains so much about you.
Please: Tony is a progressive, and that means he loves young people and everyone else, and wants what's best for them.
It certainly isn't that his personality is so wretched that public assistance is all he can rely on if he gets really screwed.
Or old.
It saddens me that you likely are not making a joke here. You really mean it. Worse, you don't understand how hideous you have allowed your politics to make you.
White guilt, chips on one's shoulders, and self-loathing are integral parts of being a Lefty.
We totally understand that sentiment Tony; you remind us daily.
My God Tony. Even kids aren't safe from your violence?
Tell me, if these kids are there to protest an ongoing baby genocide, why are they smiling so much?
For fuck sake Tony, that was asinine even for your low standards.
Yes Tony, you're the sort that wants to murder helpless babies.
Maybe you would like to meet up and try your bullshit with me. Face to face
Nah, a gutless piece of shit like you would never have the guts. That's why you favor killing babies. They can't fight back.
If only they wanted to stifle ACTUAL rights listed in the Constitution, eh?
You don't need to remind me that you people are rights-minimalists.
More protection of gun rights.
More protection of business rights.
More protection of what you can ingest rights.
More protection of privacy rights.
More protection of Constitutional rights....
Yeah, you're a lying moron Tony.
None of those are rights because... reasons.
LC, Tony only favors 'collective rights'.
forcing women to give birth
Biology?
Yeah like you're forced to die from prostate cancer. Oh wait, you're not, because science.
Getting pregnant =/= getting a disease.
Tell that to Barack Obama.
Tony is right. The derivative of the population growth curve changed sign about 1961 thanks to Satan Beelzebub pharmacology. Yet exponential population growth is STILL steeply positive going on 8 billion 58 years later. Only Republican, Prohibition and Dixiecrat brainwashees fail to grasp this. The 14th Amendment says "all persons born" not all ova fertilized, and that saved us from another Armageddon over lebensraum so popular with Christian National Socialists. The Dems are just as superstitious at the altar of Misanthropic Catastrophic Global Warming, and men with guns is also the final solution THEIR brand of altruist collectivism demands. What a surprise!
Fuck off Hihn. Since no one else has said it.
Hank isn't Hihn. He's a different toe of crazy. But he loves murdering babies. He watches videos of partial birth abortions and jerks off to them.
Oh, okay, it was about as incoherent as Hihn. And duck you Reason squirrels.
And double fuck you autocorrect. Just answer me this Android, why would I say duck you?
This is why I am not overly concerned that AI will be with us any time soon.

Fuck off Hihn. Since no one else has said it.
Targets not actually needing to be guilty of the accusations to outrage mob them is a feature not a bug. Vetting acusations would only make it a less effective tactic for shutting up political opponents.
The real target of the outrage mob is not the individual or small group that is getting its 15 minutes of hate, but observers who would have otherwise expressed themselves publicly but are now afraid to do so since it may be them next time. Indifference to what actually happened makes it more effective since feeling a lack of predictability/control around a threat ampifies fear. Same reason terrorists often target random civilians rather than targets more directly related to their strategic goals.
Robby, I just came back to say kudos! If more of the content here was still like this I would still be around.
The question is: Where were the adults? As a Catholic educator, I have to wonder at the irresponsibility of those who were supposed to be chaperoning a large group of, perhaps, well-intentioned but thoroughly riled up young men. It's shameful! No matter what Mr. Sandmamn's purpose or sentiments, he made for a very poor representation of respectable, measured, polite Catholic gentleman.
They should have walked away, been guided away from the ugly confrontation; on that, we should ALL AGREE.
Uhh, fuck you on that sentiment.
Why, EXACTLY, should they have left? Because bigots were taunting them and a geriatric stolen valor clown was an asshole?
Again, why the same media that lionized the Parkland junior gestapo hates these kids is a bit baffling.
I think you're a little hormonal, over-wrought. Perhaps you could be more rational and reasoned if you took a deep breath and contemplated your belly button or the miniscule lump just south. How'd I know, huh?
As I've already stated, responsible and level-headed adult chaperones are charged with preventing this kind of unpleasantness. Clearly, you've never been a chaperone.
Your "on that we all agree" was apparently quite mistaken.
Perhaps he took offense at your high handed insistence that your solution was the only solution?
I agree.
This could have gotten ugly with some adults beating on kids.
On the other hand, life is a series of learning experiences. Sometimes those lessons are learned the hard way and sometimes the easy way.
These MAGA kids learned good lessons the easy way. Lefties are the enemy and you will be better off taking the moral high ground against them. It sends the Lefties into a rage and that makes them easy to minimalize.
No, he did not make a poor representation. He stayed calm and collected in a difficult situation, he even had the presence of mind to ask for some of his classmates to not verbally engage with obviously hateful racists.
That they chose to remain where they were, and not be run off by offensive and confrontational behavior is no sin, and certainly no crime.
And why don't you tell us exactly what you think of the Black Hebrew Israelites?
If teh kid had moved or even splintered into smaller groups, Nathens purpose for walking through the middle, it would have been even more dangerous for the kids. its what predators do to heards. separate, scare and then take down
No sin and, indeed, no crime, fortunately, but the adults that allowed it to play out made a heap of trouble, if only in time wasted and PR, for the school and diocese. To be sure, there will be fewer, if any, future outings for the students of Covington Catholic H.S.
Oh, as for the black Israelites - not much.
They were waiting for their bus and minding their own business when the Indian guy walked up and started harassing them. In response to this harassment, all they did was stand there and be polite.
Now explain again why they did anything wrong or anyone is at fault here for anything? Hell, I don't even blame the Indian guy. He was being a bit obnoxious but it is a free country. You can do that. Nothing happened here worthy of even noticing or caring about much less condemning.
The can't. So they call those kids racists.
Plus, Lefties still cannot believe that after all their whining people still support Trump. Reason staff are great examples of that.
I don't know if "nothing" happened that day.
Imagine a group of white racist adults haranguing a church group of black teenagers.
It would be a national crisis. And rest assured the mobs tossing doxxing and death threats would be out in force against those adults.
Yeah and that would be a load of bullshit as well. If no one commits a crime and everyone goes home, there is nothing to talk about. People seem incapable of understanding that.
Agreed. Nothing happened THERE. What happened subsequently that is worthy of noticing or caring about is the SJW mob attempting to ruin the kid's lives and gin up another PC crackdown on independent thought. Hollywood celebs trashing them, offering BJs for punching them, NR writers saying they "spit on the cross of Christ" and were 'putatively Catholic', school cancelled over death threats. THAT's what I 'noticed' and 'care about'.
Oh, so the KIDS were supposed to take the high road over a racist group and a protected class in a couple of Natives?
Ae you for real?
How about THEY not have confronted the kids?
Wtf?

"The question is: Where were the adults?"
Standing there wearing MAGA hats, as if you can't figure that out.
"As a Catholic educator, I have to wonder at the irresponsibility of those who were supposed to be chaperoning a large group of, perhaps, well-intentioned but thoroughly riled up young men. And you make a pathetic example of a claimed 'educator'
"They should have walked away, been guided away from the ugly confrontation; on that, we should ALL AGREE."
I'm pretty sure we can all agree you should STFU instead of digging a deeper hole.
"They should have walked away, been guided away from the ugly confrontation; on that, we should ALL AGREE."
Ever hear of St Thomas More?
No, poor Annie, these young kids are standing up for principles.
I hope this has been a teachable moment for you.

No Annie, they were waiting for their bus. They were where they were supposed to be. Then that piece of shit Phillips accosted them.
Annie, the problem was they were waiting for a pre arranged bus to pick them up AT THAT EXACT SPOT. They shouldn't have had to walk away from a pre arranged meeting place because a bunch of asshole blacks guys and Indians decided to harass them.
Yes, and post 9-11, moving that spot, on the grounds of a national monument, would likely have caused a security freakout.
It is quite telling that so many people, when they thought they saw a group of teenagers behaving like hateful bigots, rushed in to issue strong condemnations.
Yet are silent, or even excusing of the adults who we now know behaved so badly.
The soft bigotry of low expectations is still bigotry.
But in the less insane media world of 2014,
A phrase I never thought possible.
Can't we all get along? Apparently not...
So then we need to know who is who, so as to know who to associate with, and who to NOT associate with! Avoid all the fighting...
We need a NEW LAW to fix this all, then!
All pro-Trump and anti-immigrant people will wear red MAGA hats.
All anti-Trump and pro-immigrant people will wear blue MALGA hats, since they clearly support Making America Less Great Again.
It works for the Germans who forced Jews to wear Stars of David, for letting people know who is who... It can work for us, too!!!
Hey check this out... From http://www.cbsnews.com/news/tr.....rontation/ ...
Phillips is now offering to travel to northern Kentucky to meet with the students for a "dialog about cultural appropriation, racism, and the importance of listening to and respecting diverse cultures," according to the Lakota People's Law Project.
"Dialog about cultural appropriation" will fix it for us!!!
Why was the Indian speaking English?
Talk about cultural appropriation.
LOLOLOLOLOL
I thought you were serious for the first little bit there. Savages gon' savage! Honestly, some of the warrior philosophy from certain tribes is some of the only redeeming stuff about Indian culture IMO. They had some kinda badass views on certain things. Unfortunately my Indian blood isn't from any particularly cool tribes.
Why was the Indian speaking English?
Talk about cultural appropriation.
And the clothing too! He should be wearing animal skins! And those eye glasses, WTF, Indians didn't have those. White people invented glasses! Not to mention those cameras, which were totally a European invention initially, and improved on by those sneaky Asians. This guy is just horrible stealing from all these cultures!
Will he be explaining why white people should go back to Europe?
"dialog about cultural appropriation, racism, and the importance of listening to and respecting diverse cultures,"
Maybe the school has someone who can teach him.
Isn't he Cherokee? I believe the drum he was using was from the plains Indians. The song sure sounds like one the Asinoboine Sioux use (I live adjacent to their reservation and work on it a lot).
Isn't he Cherokee?
Why would that make a difference? Do you think Cherokee (or anyone) definitionally respects diverse cultures?
The "black guys" are irrelevant to the story in the news. The kids, kids as they may be, swarmed the Indian guy and started mocking him in a racist way.
No, they did not. The NA guy marched into the crowd of students and got in the one kids face while the NA's cohorts launched racial epithets at the kids. Nothing you say changes this. This came after the kids had been engaged by the black, racist, radical Hebrews in which the kids can be heard countering the bigotry of said Hebrew group. There is irrefutable video evidence of the actual events. I suggest you watch it and learn something beyond your blind, partisan hive-mind.
The BHIs hate the sell-out Native Americans unless they're Jewish converts.
Worshiping the eagle, the wolf, the wind, firewater and the buffalo are a big no-no with the BHI.
The Kentucky rubes probably thought the Omaha was part of the BHI crew.
Not to bring this to Robby and not that he needs my Canadian two cents but I don't care he didn't 'break a story'. What matters is he tries to bring perspective in search of the truth. Sure he has annoying 'to be sure' habits in his attempt to find 'common ground' or some weird 'both sides do it' rubbish but overall? I think he goes for the truth.
Which is why I don't get too worked up. He brings up stuff that need to be mentioned.
Like I said above, no one has ripped on Robby more than I have and do. But, Robby was all over this from the word go. He never bought the bullshit story in the first place and he rightfully called out those who did when it was proven to be false. He deserves all the credit in the world for this. Anyone who has a problem with him on this is just wrong.
Robby's TRIBE was at stake, Papist-prepschooler group loyalty.
Whatever his reasons, he did the right thing and deserves credit for it. If I won't give him credit when he deserves it, how am I supposed to rip him when he deserves that?
The only thing you're interested in is defending the MAGA hats. If they were wearing pussy hats, they would be stupid cunts harassing a poor Indian man. Nobody buys your bullshit John. I don't even believe you do.
If they were wearing pussy hats
Then they might be stupid cunts, but assuming they acted in the same way as these boys they would also not be guilty of harassment.
Shut up Tony. Seriously. You're a child.
Children everywhere are seriously offended by that remark.
He harassed them Tony. He has a history of doing this sort of thing. And like you is also a lying piece of garbage.
Good article, but the last sentence is not clear. Does 'Rolling Stone truther-ism' mean that rape culture activists would have defended Rolling Stone more staunchly, if the story had come out in 2019?
All white people are racists, homophobes, and misogynists.
What America needs is to eliminate all white people and all their racist and evil products they produced like alternating current, medicine, motorized vehicles, air conditioning, light bulbs, indoor plumbing, dentistry, etc.
This way all people of color regardless of gender can live a happy prosperous life in the cave of their choice, drinking from the river they choose and eating bark from the tree they want.
Won't life be wonderful?
I think white people should all be banished to some barren, empty, horrible land away from all other people so they can't harm them anymore. Then they can wallow in their poverty like they deserve! Without all this infrastructure that they stole from other people they'd finally get theirs!
Maybe somewhere in desolate parts of Africa, or even Australia. They're total shitholes!
Oh wait... You mean to say when white people show up in barren lands that have shit all going for them they somehow magically build some of the most affluent nations on earth somehow? Well shit... There goes that plan.
Those of you complaining in any way about these kids are no better than those that without full information called for them to be punched or murdered. I don't really support Trump, but I certainly think those that do have the right to wear one of this silly hats without being looked down on. I didn't support Obama either, but I was never tempted to threaten someone wearing one of those silly Hope shirts, although I might have been tempted to whisper "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor." Supporting a poor politician doesn't make you bad. There are undoubtedly some bad people that support Trump. There are obviously some bad people that oppose him. Stop supporting bad behavior. The native American and the black racist were the ONLY ones acting bad. The elites that have tweeted their desired harm since are in that same bad people group. It isn't complicated.
^This. + 100
You can say that again!!
^This. + 100.
I would like to apply the leftist's belief that a MAGA hat is a clear indicator of a racist and the wearer needs to be physically assaulted on another article of clothing. It is well known that most strong arm robbers wear dark hoodies, that obscure their faces and make it difficult to id the perp. So, using leftist logic, I believe that if anyone is seen wearing a dark hoodie in my neighborhood, then I have every right and reason to shoot the SOB because they are obviously a criminal. It's being proactive in preventing crime, ya' know.
I wonder how well that would go over in certain neighborhoods and among a particular demographic?
It all makes sense if you understand the New Left.
Racism is bad and so are white people - The New Democrats.
It all makes sense if you understand the New Left.
Racism is bad and so are white people - The New Democrats.

Racism is bad and so are white people - The New Democrats.
Definitely not the demeanor of people I'd expect of people supposed to be protesting the daily genocide of innocent babies by the tens of thousands.
What demeanor would you expect? Wait, let me rephrase that:
What the fuck are you even talking about?
Tony has a fatal case of the TDS which means he can't understand logic.
I assume by TDS you mean Tony Derangment Syndrome, because he was this way loooong before Trump.
Tony has no idea what he is talking about. He has basically spun out of control and is flailing around like a mains'l with it's stays broke in a gale. Okay, I was Army forgive me for my lack of nautical know how in that analogy.
This is the most fun I've had with a news story in weeks
I think it is ridiculous that anyone would think that the school children were causing any sort of disruption. The media wants to get a Trump in anyway they can. The MAGA hats were the key and the rest of the socialist mob was quick to pounce.
I really wanted to comment on the complete irony that was happening based on the players and the particular site they were at.
Abraham Lincoln was a white supremist and racist and committed crimes against the Native Americans so he could insure that the white settlers were given land and preference while moving west. The two groups represented by Native Americans and African Americans obviously don't read history beyond the public school system and if they did they would never revere Lincoln.
Those are the only qualities that make Lincoln stomachable to me! The civil war was a bunch of bullshit, and he just wanted to keep the country together because he believed in a powerful "imperialist" USA, and knew that dream would fail should the nation split up. He was pretty much a piece of shit from all angles really.
Still, the one thing that I always wonder about is he had talked about sending all the freed slaves back to Africa numerous times in his political career... If he had revived that idea after the north won, and he hadn't been shot, it's an interesting thing to think about what America would have ended up like. A 98 or 99% white America would have been a completely different world from the ~85% white America that we had.
Mirror of Shar Yaqataz Banyamyan facebook video.. The white man, the white man the white man is the whipping boy!
The Free Thought Project reviewed a much longer video of this situation and it paints a far different picture than what the media is telling you. Prior to the children interacting with the Native American protests, they were subject to disgusting racist threats from a small group of Black Hebrew Israelites near the Lincoln Memorial. The BHI was seen on camera hurling insults at the children, calling them crackers, faggots, pedophiles, and peckerwoods. They are even seen at the 37 minute mark insulting the Native Americans for talking to these kids by calling them "Uncle Tom(ahawks.)"
At one point in the video, the BHI protesters tell a black student in the group that his white friends are going to "harvest his organs." The hateful slurs came to a head when the BHI protesters?who are outspoken for their anti-LGBTQ stance?yelled that "you give faggots rights."

As a Marine veteran myself, I am deeply ashamed to share that space with someone like Nathan Phillips. He's been proven a bald-faced liar, and shows no honor or fidelity. I don't pretend to know what was in his head, but we certainly know what came out of his mouth.
And as bad, if not worse, NPR gave him a platform to continue to spread his lie, and they actively - if subtly - pushed the narrative that the kids were somehow at fault or did something wrong. But then, it's known as National Propaganda Radio for good reason.
He was discharged it appears at the grade of E-1 short of completion of term. It makes you wonder under what circumstances he was discharged.
There is one point here no one has seemed to raise; labeled "children " when it suits the speaker's agenda, these young men (minors) , by their youth and inexperience, were the least culpable of all other participants, arguably far older (though clearly not wiser). For the media to attack these boys and give the adult asses responsible for the conflict a pass is squalid and cowardly beyond toleration. I am sickened and ashamed.
Thanks for staying on this story Robby. Some bozo with an agenda posts something outrageous, it goes "viral" and the MSM begin 36 hours of frenzied pants shitting. No matter how completely the story is exposed as straight up propaganda it will continue to be defended and a significant percentage of the population will demand that government do something.
I realize teens, especially males-will get over excited and in some cases, run the risk of behaving as wolf packs-if, not supervised by adults in extra curricular activities. I'd rather not rush to any conclusion, since I wasn't there-however, I must say, it's good that the kids seen wearing those "shitty" red hats and the hormonal high of excited school kids-may not have ended well, it didn't. If anything, it's in the optics of perceptions and, the underpinnings of nuance of affluence of white kids in private schools. Mr. Soave may be correct on how some may see, what they want to see. But on the other hand, many may counter this point with-don't believe your lying eyes-a reference more apropos to Mr. Trump and his enablers and supporters. Yes, a very divided country and made worse dog whistles and inciting unnecessary race baiting by a provocateur and his sycophants. As for me, I have a different take on this incident-I too am a Catholic School graduate and have know many that harbor such innate prejudices and, especially-off campus with obnoxious and contemptible behaviors (off and on in trains, buses, etc.-NYC.) Lets not pretend that by wearing, shitty red hats or in other cases waving the confederate battle flag or the Nazi Flag is going to endear them to many. Finally, suffice to say, yes, videos are not absolute with telling the whole story-but with the overall context of who, how and when did many lose their freaking minds. Care to guess.
What the fuck did I just read?
If he is a Catholic school graduate, their level of education has definitely slipped. No sentence structure, no coherent thoughts. Definitely questionable logic.
Also, don't Catholic schools teach rhetoric and debate?
My eyes see fine, and those kids were acting ugly. No doubt.
My eyes see fine, and those kids were acting ugly. No doubt.

WillPain...WillPain...WillPain.....
You should get your eyes checked....
You are suffering from a severe case of Optic-Myopia-Dumbassery....
Mr Phillips should cut the teens some slack...the kids didn't know he was playing a "sacred drum beat of peace."
They thought he was playing the drum solo from In A Gadda-Da-Vida....
I didn't see a kid smirking. I saw a kid caught in a awkward situation with a WTF??? expression on his face....
But I don't think Mr Phillips was being aggressive.....I think he was just being an asshole.
WTF are you talking about? When I was in my teens old Indian activists beating on a drums were cis tangly coming up to me while I was standing around waiting for a bus.
Doesn't this happen to everyone a few times a week?
The reaction to this really makes me wonder if we are headed for another civil war.
You have so many on the left pushing for violence against a kid who at worst, simply stood there and smirked.
We are. If the ranks of the progs are not thinned soon, then our rights will soon be gone.
Yup. And I'm pretty sure the left is so dumb they're going to start it... Somehow forgetting that the right owns 90% of the 300-400 million or so guns in the USA. It's going to be over quick IMO, and it will be a far better country afterwards.
If I was bullying some kid minding his own business by trash talking him in Haiku, the kid would be in the wrong by mimicking my Haiku in return. Cuz I'm Asian, and Haiku is an Asian thing and very important cultural stuff.
This is the kind of self imposed bubble the progressives live in. The put minorities and under represented people on a pedestal by reducing them to causes, talking points, and cultural stereotypes. An asshat beat his drum at a kid's face and half the liberal world though the smirking kid disrespected native american ritual.
This sordid little affair reminded me of this scene from Malcolm in the Middle. It captures the lib mindset perfectly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbtgWmTjq_0
I grew up on the Rez, how true this is.
I remember that scen. It never gets old.
That bad man with the drum hypnotized that poor boy in the red hat!
Look at his face!
He was in a deeeeep deeeeep trace before the bad man released him to walk away.
Who knows what the bad man "told: him to do.
It was one of these smug male juvenile tools bragging in a YAF newsletter that "true conservatives, unlike mere libertarians" would gladly kill doctors and jail women to realize the Dixiecrat/Comstock ideal of forcing girls to reproduce because Race Suicide that alerted me to the existence of libertarians--the folks who had written Roe v Wade before the Supreme Court could rule on the lawsuit. Yet here we are, 40 years later, and these Antichoice brainwashees of Hitler's mom's (and my own mom's) superstition are crowding out the news that Catholic Ireland has at last repealed the constitutional bullying of women amended at the behest of pederasts ten years after the US and Canada finally enforced individual rights for women. So what else in the Gee-Oh-Pee agenda are we putching this week? Prohibitionist urinalysis?
Do not forget that these people want you broke, dead, your kids raped and brainwashed, and they think it's funny.
So, I just read a story that Today will allow Mr. Sandmann to give his side of the story in an interview tomorrow. Now, many are calling for the boycott of NBC because they dare allow "this obvious bigot" to give his side of the story. It is obvious that they do not want this rather articulate (I've seen exerts) young man to speak.

Go Robby! Thank you.
The fact that they are still slandering these kids and issuing death threats is all too telling of their extremist agenda. Collectivism is pure evil, folks.
The collective should be thinned. Progtards must learnt heir place. And it certainly isn't making decisions about how we all love.
Most our modern diet what? Most of America's carbs come from wheat and corn, corn was native to the America's but not wheat (which is actually used more often in American baking and pasta making, you'll never see a flour tortillas south of the border). Meat, chicken is the most eaten, domesticated in Asia, Pork, domesticated in Euroasia, Cattle, domesticated in Eurasia, then distantly seafood (no one place), turkey (finally one in America) goat (Near East) and mutton (near East). Fruits Apples (Eurasia), pears (Eurasia) grapes (Eurasia) oranges (Eurosia and Africa) Lemons (same), tomatoes (finally an American fruit). Coffee (Africa), tea (Asia), cocoa (finally one from the America's). God do you just make shit up as you go along?

I do wonder how many people just realized how crooked the MSM is over this lovely bit of nonsense. Every day people are realizing you can't trust CNN... How much longer before nobody but the 10-20% of extreme leftists will buy their BS?
They didn't realize they were in a "highly charged public setting". They were having a good time, doing their spirit chants, and laughing at the BHI nutcases. Then some guy came up and started drumming along with them (they thought) and they thought hey, that's fun, let's chant along with him! Since it sounded vaguely Indian some of them did the Atlanta Braves cheer. This was not about mocking the guy, it was about having fun.
After he stood there creepily for a while and his entourage started ranting about whiteys going back to Europe, obviously some of them figured out something was wrong. But that's not when they were tomahawk chopping.
They did nothing wrong. NOTHING.
'At least one appears to make a tomahawk chop?an offensive gesture from sporting events in which team names have been taken from Native American culture. That is insensitive behavior that an adult in a position of authority over these young men should discourage in the future.'
KMA. Just smooch it.

My first wife had about 500X as much Flathead tribe heritage as Elizabeth Warren has anything, but the ex never claimed it. I was a Native American Certified Drug and Alcohol counselor on the Northern Cheyenne and Sioux reservation about 40 miles from the Custer Battlefield in Montana and also adjacent to the Crow reservation, where that tribe sits on about $50 billion in coal adjacent to the Colstrip complex of four coal power generators, which should have been 8 or 10 by now but ratepayers have been hoodwinked into all manner of overt and hidden subsidies to build wind mill farms.
In less than a dozen years, maybe less than a decade, I guarantee every multi-million dollar towering bird blender will be frozen in permanent limbo due to the stunning financial impracticality of the maintenance plans from the outset. These costs were under-estimated, which is why already 100's of windmills sit abandoned.
I say all that to say this. If I am attending a legal and peaceful right-to-life protest and I am wearing a MAGA hat and professional activist Nathan Phillips comes up and gets right up in my face banging his little drum (I saw Nathan on CNN expressing the view that Right-to-Life protests are inherently immoral and so are MAGA hats, justifying any behavior on his part apparently) then I claim a serious and anti-constitutional organized hate crime is being perpetrated against me. I demand it be investigated. Lots of video evidence to be found.
My first wife had about 500X as much Flathead tribe heritage as Elizabeth Warren has anything, but the ex never claimed it.
Well, of course not. That would still only make her 2%.
Hey Robby...
I just wanted to come back and give you props for your coverage of this. Not because it is particularly revolutionary, but because I read a little of what your colleagues (and bosses) have had to say. And trying to be a voice of reason in the face of those opinions that seem to be untethered to reality cannot be all that easy.
They are not untethered to reality. It's merely that what they are tethered to is not impartial appreciation of facts.
They have higher priorities.
If you just see that one picture the kid does look like a little shit.
That boy was being overtly passive aggressive. That Indian fellow was trying to help those boys out, and they crapped on him for it. The tone of the mob is easily summed up by the footage of the boys doing the Tomahawk chop. If you don't know that smug smile you never were a teenage boy. That mob of boys takes on it's tone by the sum of it's parts and none of it's parts were up to any good. This opinion piece demonstrates how stupid peoples opinions really are.
Now that everything else has been said about this mob scene, I'll add this: As a (former) Washingtonian, I believe all people who go to large-scale marches on Washington are hostile to Washingtonians. They are also hostile to the causes they claim to represent.
There's nothing like boarding a commuter bus or train packed with whining, smoking, eating, drinking, littering, spitting, and even-worse-ing tourists, all dragging far too many signs, far too many kids, and far too many diapers, to make a person think "Whatever this mess is here in aid of, I'm against it."
Phillips btw lied about his having been in Viet Nam. He was a reservist whose job was refrigerator mechanic. He also had a record of unauthorized absences and was discharged a Private E-1, not exactly something to brag about.
He's a piece of shit.
General discharge too.
Not Honorable.
Really don't care if they're racists or not. I'm feeling they likely are, but even so, why does it deserve the amount of outrage it's getting? Outside of the recreational nature of it, nothing legitimate about this to be angry about.
The people who are calling for these teens to be assaulted, doxxed, or killed, four decades ago would have been calling this old man a baby killer.
Careful who you smirk at people.
Why are people so concerned of what others are saying or thinking?
Start working at home with Google. It's the most-financially rewarding I've ever done. On tuesday I got a gorgeous BMW after having earned $8699 this last month. I actually started five months/ago and practically straight away was bringin in at least $96, per-hour. visit this site right here... http://www.2citypays.com
The Wapo had to correct itself about the AmerIndian not being a Vietnam Vet.
'It was getting ugly': Native American drummer speaks on his encounter with MAGA-hat-wearing teens
Correction: Earlier versions of this story incorrectly said that Native American activist Nathan Phillips fought in the Vietnam War. Phillips said he served in the U.S. Marines but was never deployed to Vietnam.
