The #ThotAudit Is Deeply, Painfully Stupid
The snitch crusade is ostensibly about making sure hot women aren't making money off their hotness without giving the government a cut.

Over the long weekend, a vigilante gang of keyboard warriors launched a campaign to report random internet strangers to the IRS for tax evasion, using the hashtag #thotaudit. The snitch crusade is ostensibly geared at making sure that hot women aren't making money off their hotness without giving the government a cut.
"Raise your hand if you agree instagram models and snapchat queens should pay their taxes just like the rest of us," tweeted the right-wing gadfly Jack Posobiec in one typical example of the genre.
Where to begin with the grossness and pointlessness of these pursuits?
There's the libertarian angle of course: What kind of bootlicking busybodies spend their spare time worrying about whether individual strangers are paying enough in taxes, much less take the time to report them?
Then there's the ignorance. Plenty of solo sex workers, adult entertainers, and models do pay taxes, just like other independent contractors, and it's silly to assume that just because someone is employed in a stigmatized industry they must also be skirting the law. Sex workers have the same incentives as everyone else to stay on the good side of Uncle Sam.
Surely some sex workers—like self-employed workers in many industries—do underreport or altogether avoid taxes. But somehow, the prospect of tax-dodging Airbnb hosts, YouTubers, freelance writers, and others hasn't spurred the online audit squad to action. And the decision to target only women making a living off their looks smacks of straight-up sexism, not a neutral, civic-minded concern with IRS evasion.
Lest there was any question about this, the hashtag gives away the game. Thot has several purported definitions, but all of them mean "ho." It's also a word used primarily in black communities, so its sudden adoption by the largely white conservative "thot auditors" feels more like deliberate mockery than casual cultural cross-pollination.
#ThotAudit bad news, boys. "Solid information", not "unsupported speculation" Grow old and celibate in your mom's basement waiting for your government handout. https://t.co/88nk922cJ4 pic.twitter.com/ehQIN7lz6t
— Mistress Matisse (@mistressmatisse) November 25, 2018
Lastly, there's the futility of the whole business. Blogger Roosh V, who was one of the men leading the #thotaudit charge, pointed his followers to a page of the IRS website for reporting tax evaders, even suggesting that the feds might reward them for rounding up hoes. But the page presents some pretty obvious problems for Roosh and his gang.
First, reporting someone requires you to know a lot about the person you're turning in, including her full name and address—information random dudes online aren't likely to have for the ladies they're tattling on. So even if they correctly pinpoint a sexy-snap seller who's not reporting her income properly to authorities, there's little chance they have the right stuff to file a report.
Then, even if they did have all the correct information, there's little likelihood that the IRS would care. The page specifically notes that it's interested in situations involving "a significant Federal tax issue"—i.e., not someone making a few hundred unreported dollars per year selling used underwear and butt selfies. As dominatrix Mistress Matisse put it: "Dudes, they want Donald Trump, they don't want camgirls."
And on the infinitesimally tiny chance the IRS would care, there's almost no chance the person who tipped off the IRS would get a reward. Awards are only paid to people "who provide specific and credible information to the IRS," not those who submit "an 'educated guess' or unsupported speculation."
Who knows if the #thotaudit posters are dumb enough to actually submit tips to the IRS? But their campaign is basically just one more way for people to harass sex workers and other women online.

"the futility of the whole business"
By what measure? They got attention. You got attention. WIN WIN.
If you really believed it were "futile" you would have ignored it.
Methinks ENB is turning in Robbie's homework with her name on it. 2/10.
No it has nothing to do with taxes. It is about running porn workers out of gaming platforms. People are tired of having their online game experience interrupted by hookers and are trying to turn them into the IRS to get them to go somewhere else. No hooker who doesn't troll gaming platforms is ever going to be tagged by this.
Is it a good thing? It is if you are a gamer tired of hookers trying to sell you their pictures. If you are the hooker, not so much. Unless you are one of parties involved, there is really no reason to be concerned about this. It is a dispute that has no larger implications.
And for the record, the IRS audits based on a very closely held set of algorythms. They don't audit based on tips unless the tip includes the person's social security number. They sure as hell don't audit based on a hashtag in Twitter. So, both the gamers who think this campaign will result in anyone being audited and the hookers who are angry because they worry they might be audited are equally silly and stupid.
Shorter John:
"I hated it when Democrats used the IRS to punish their enemies. But now that right-wing trolls are attempting to do the same, then it's no big deal."
These guys are not in the governemnt. And as I explain, no one is going to be audited because of this. The IRS doens't audit based on Twitter hashtags. If they do, then yeah, the IRS has a problem. But that hasn't happened.
Again Jeff, why are you so stupid? You are incapable of understanding any sort of rational discussion. I really want to know how you could possibly think I am saying that? I can't understand how you could be as dumb as you actually are. There needs to be a team of specialist stuying you to determine why you are so stupid and hopefully preventing other people from suffering the same fate.
When your response is 1/3rds lame deflection and 2/3rds insults, then I know I've made a point.
You haven't made a point. Someone ratting someone out to the IRS is not the same as the IRS going after people. The IRS is the government and can't go after people for their exercising their first amendent rights. Citizens can. When your girlfriend finally dumps you for someone smarter, she doens't owe you due process like the government does.
You have not made a single sentient point here. And I am not insulting you. I am legitimately fascinated by your complete lack of ability to understand arguments.
You are just engaging in debate trick theatrics. Trying to score points by creating a spectacle instead of arguing the substance of the proposition.
No. I am just explaining why you are wrong. You think they are theatrics because you don't like my explaiing why you are wrong but are unable to make a point in response.
So far he's actually presented an argument and you are sputtering like a moron with no refutation of what he said.
" I am legitimately fascinated by your complete lack of ability to understand arguments."
Yeah. It's all those other people who don't understand things. Sure. Not you. OK.
Yeah. It's all those other people who don't understand things. Sure. Not you. OK.
You're not exactly Cicero yourself, shitlib.
But I get it, wanting to sic otherwise nonpartisan government agencies onto your opponents is totally legit, as long as nothing becomes of it. Amirite?
I'll remember this next time some left-wing numbskull says something on Twitter like "I think the IRS should go after those 'dark money' political groups (which just so happen to be benefitting Republicans)". As long as nothing happens, there's no problem, right? The comment doesn't reveal any sister intent or corrupt motive at all, right?
er, sinister intent
His is funnier.
So, I guess calling the police is always wrong. If I see someone breaking into a car tonight, I shouldn't call the police. It is not my car.. Who am I to snitch.
That is the logic you are following here. Moreover, even if you do think they are wrong for calling the IRS, they are wrong in a different way and for different reasons than the IRS was wrong for targeting people. So just because you think the IRS was wrong doesn't mean you have to think this was wrong. They are different issues.
This sort of goes to the heart of your problem. You see IRS and Audit and think the two situations are the same. You just can't grasp that the the IRS targeting people for audits is wrong because it violates equal protection and ratting someone out is perhaps wrong becuase it is a jerky thing to do.
There is really no more clear way to explain it. But I don't think it is possible for you to understand it.
"So, I guess calling the police is always wrong."
This is more like "SWATTING" than "calling the police".
Don't be as dumb as Jeff. This isn't swatting.
Don't be as dumb as Jesse.
It's MORE LIKE "SWATTING" than "calling the police".
Eh, I don't really get that vibe here. He makes a fair point that wasn't reported in the article. It seems far more likely that ENB is just trying to push a sex-related article while casually lobbing sexism and racism grenades.
Man, Reason has really gone to shit.
They don't audit based on tips unless the tip includes the person's social security number
Bullshit. How many people ratting out their ex-boss or business rivals would know their SSNs?
-jcr
None of them. And those people are not ratting out their bosses. They are talking shit. They may have called the IRS but the IRS didn't audit anyone based on their tip.
What you see on TV is not always true John.
I can tell you that I turned in one former employer that wrongly tried to claim I was an independent contractor and not an employee, and thus on the hook for employment taxes.
I don't know if what resulted is properly called an "audit", but it got fixed and I didn't pay self-employment tax on top of income tax
I don't know if what resulted is properly called an "audit
You probably should have stopped there.
What you cited has no similarity to what happened with the gamers.
And what they might have is the businesses employee tax ID number. That would do it as well as an SS number. But only to get the business audited not the person.
If it's a business you would just use the EIN (line b of your W-2) that every business with employees needs to have (unless they do just want to use the employer's SSN), and that is public non-sensitive information.
I don't think John is right that you absolutely must have this information in order to report tax evasion. But the important part is that you do need to file a specific form with the IRS.
ENB, to her credit, spends her last few paragraphs pointing out that this silly "campaign" does not, in fact, pose any real audit threat to the camwhores. (Which is why it's a bit baffling that the comments are less clear on that fact.) What she fails to do is to, then, make any kind of case that she is reporting on anything at all. Although she did have time for some bizarrely old-lady cluelessness. ("Thot" seeped from black culture into general Internet culture a long time ago and remains one of its very favorite words; "white conservatives" did not suddenly discover it last weekend for their "audits.")
If any of you Muppets would have read the IRS website they would know that you have to include YOUR OWN SSN to be eligible for the 30% reward. It has nothing to do with the SSN of the person you are reporting not to mention that companies have no SSN in the first place.
It's pretty obvious none of you have actually informed themselves about this at all.
What kinds of games are these and how are these women spamming gamers?
Ok, Game streaming is a thing. The TLDR is that people who are -really- good at certain games, especially competitive games, like to record this, and then share the recordings. Sometimes they share the game in real time. Think "sports, but with computers". People pay money for this.
Then the camwhores came.
Pretty, vapid, suck at the games, but they play in the most revealing outfits possible, and if you pay extra, they'll pose provocatively, and if you visit their patreon site... you get the idea. It's soft core porn, made to order, they're just holding a game controller when they do it. Sounds great, in theory.
The problem is, they're like roaches. They're fucking -everywhere-. And they eat bandwith like candy. They bring drama( this is especially loathed). Which means the dudes who wanna either stream games, or watch streamed games, are getting choked out. And in almost all cases, the camwhores are violating Terms of Service, and the Streaming companies don't give two shits, because they're making money hand over fist.
Gamer dudes get pissed, because some of these guys? They literally make a living, sharing their game streams. And they do it as a business, and even pay taxes. And their getting their cash flow crimped by a bunch of tax-dodging prostitutes, which makes them mad.
I guess one man's joystick is another man's... joystick?
Sorry--couldn't resist.
Enough is enough, baby, I've had enough of you
You can keep your dresses, you can keep your jewels
You can keep the color TV, those soaps just make me sick
All I'm asking you leave me is my red joystick
People actually pay money to watch someone else play video games. I was happier and more hopeful for humanity not knowing that. Thanks.
Some of the more obscure cable channels, actually broadcast them.
Oh, it's legit. I make more money recording myself play games for YouTube than I do with my engineering degree.
You remember the good ol' days when people would sit around on the couch while one person played on their N64 and the others cheered or jeered? Same concept, except less direct interaction for a much larger audience.
I am glad I was young before this happened and got drunk and had fun with real women.
The owner of the New England Patriots (worth $1B) has invested already.
the free market in action. You may not like it, but that's what it is.
Its guys upset that hot girls are making more money streaming a video game than some people who are actually skilled at the game. Sound incredibly lame? It is. It also ignores the fact that the women are only making money because because someone is giving it to them, i.e. there is demand for what they are doing. So it once again boils down to busybodies upset that other people are spending their time and money in a way they don't like.
For some it is. For others, it's frustration that the terms of service are not being applied consistently. The IRS nonsense is just an outlet to vent that frustration.
No, it's girls, too. We're sick of it as well.
And I don't care if they make money at it. Then start up "GAMER WHORES" and stream there. Obviously there's a market, then go get it and leave the game streaming to us geeks.
And not to even mention how it affect legit girls who game and are not camwhores.
This is why I don't even mess with Twitch. I don't want to have to sift through whores to see what I want to see game wise and I won't run my own streams because I don't want associated with them.
"No it has nothing to do with taxes. It is about running porn workers out of gaming platforms. "
I thought it was about honesty in game journalism.
Is it a good thing? It is if you are a gamer tired of hookers trying to sell you their pictures. If you are the hooker, not so much. Unless you are one of parties involved, there is really no reason to be concerned about this. It is a dispute that has no larger implications.
John,
Maybe I am showing my age with this question, but why are sex workers trolling for customers on a technological platform that, if I remember the 1980's correctly, was designed to entertain children?
In related news, J sent me a text message saying that T stole his Xbox and needs money and she wants to smoke crack in the boarding room they share. I replied that he should be nice to my sister-wife.
Video games were originally meant for adults, which is why they first appeared in bars and had cocktail table versions
Conversely, the Internet had porn on it before it had gamers.
By a SUBSTANTIAL margin.
Conversely, the Internet had porn on it before it had gamers.
By a SUBSTANTIAL margin.
The children that grew up playing video games in the 80s still make up the bulk of the video game market, and we are of course adults now. The average age of a gamer in the US today is 35, and about a third of top-selling games are rated M (Mature 17+)
...a technological platform that...was designed to entertain children?
And whose devotees tend to demonstrate a lack of interest in women?
In its infancy, the internet was supported by its porn.
At one point it was estimated that 65% of internet use was pornography.
I suspect the same was true of photography when it was invented.
I must be playing the wrong games because I've never been propositioned by a hooker while playing a game.
The way it was described in the first news I read about this, it started more as a means of pressuring for "freebies." In other words, do what I want or I will report you to the government. I think people who genuinely want them to leave would be lobbying the streaming platform instead and using the platform's existing tools for reporting TOS violations.
So people are doing something that annoys you, and therefore you think a legitimate response is to send armed government agents after them?
You do realize this is reason right?
Also- people wouldn't be selling their pics on these platforms if there weren't buyers.
Sick of kids' lemonades stands ruining our streets? Send the IRS after 'em.
We could always replace the income tax with the consumption tax. That's right, a levy on everyone who has tuberculosis.
Taxing the dead would be an option if they didn't vote in such high numbers.
Open the borders and we'll balance the budget!
Libertarian Win/win
Well, we'd sure have a lot more TB cases to tax and regulate.
You make a good case, sir. Done!
Okay, citizen--time to cough it up for Caesar.
I mean, there's a certain amount of hilarity if (and this is a big if) those girls being reported have ever marched for higher taxes or said anything about people not paying their fair share.
Having said that, I support everyone trying to pay as little taxes as possible and turning someone in to the IRS is a dick move. I just wish the people lambasting whoever is behind this respected my right to report as little income as possible too.
I always support people paying less taxes. But I think the gamers have a valid grievence here. These women are the digital equivelent of Gypsy panhandlers or telemarketers. They appearently really are a pain in the ass on these game platforms. And it is very hard to keep them off these platforms or create new platforms that ban them.
I can see why they don't like them. And they are not assaulting anyone or committing any violence. And it is their legal right to turn these women into the IRS. If that were to result in harm to the women, the blame should fall on the IRS not the gamers. The IRS is the ones doing the auditing.
Agreed. The thotAudit people are responding in a very libertarian way, as opposed to calling for some regulators to police their sites.
One could see the intention of this as a form of swatting, though less physically risky for the person targeted.
Though they are seeking some sort of government action against people. So not that libertarian.
No, the new libertarian way is embracing the state. If you can't beat them...
"as opposed to calling for some regulators to police their sites." And the IRS is not this how?
>>>And it is their legal right to turn these women into the IRS.
sure, but anyone who turns anyone into the IRS should be smacked across the face.
If you get their attention, don't be surprised if you have their attention.
I think anyone trolling for business and bothering people who don't want to be bothered deserves the same or worse. It is not like these guys are just choosing women at random.
to be fair I'm lost on the whole enterprise why would guys pay for pics in 2018 and how do chicks get into their games? i mean, don't explain it i don't want to know
calling IRS is crossing a line though. i'd be nicer to an enemy.
I don't even know. I just heard of this, and people popping to sell porn is not anything that happens in any online stuff I play. Closest thing I know of is Twitch streamers who are woman and tend scantily clad. But that's quite different from selling pornography, so I don't know the situation that well.
It is lost on me too. I guess it is the familarity of it. Its the same reason why people obsess over naked picks of homely celebrities. They feel like they know the person and that makes seeing them naked more exciting.
That is my guess. But since it is lost on me too, it is just a guess.
John,
I'm a gamer who doesn't watch streamers but, I have heard enough of the story to add context.
Thots (twitch thots to be specific) started out as just females who wore low cut tops during streams. Fairly harmless.
In general, these "thots" were streamers who lacked great gaming skill and used sex appeal to remain competitive in their subscribers numbers. Thots are the inverse of female gamers who try to keep their audience focused on their gameplay.
After a few years, you're Stereotypical thot shifted to playing things like dance games with minimal clothing.
"Wardrobe Malfunctions" starting becoming common.
Things like dancing in white hotpants with no undies too show off the ol' cameltoe. Low class slutty behavior and being egged on by the constant positive praise of men watching.
Then came "Premium Snapchats" where after sending the thot money via paypal, you would receive nude images.
The most popular thot, Alinity, sells her used undergarments to her viewers, for example.
so you know, don't watch those streams if you don't like them?

sry for the double post above.
However, I don't think that the behavior of the thots is what sparked this outrage from male gamers. I would postulate that most of this drama is misdirected anger at the large game streaming services such as Twitch.
Twitch, as a company, started realizing that Thots who used the platform were bringing in the greatest amount of money to the corporate coffers. Additionally, many Twitch staff who interacted with Thots were single men.
When a few thots traded sexual favors with twitch staffers to avoid account bans....people got angry. It has become apparent to many gamers that Thots are given preferential treatment by Twitch by not enforcing Terms of Service violations by Thots in the same manner that non-thots are held too.
It looks like the anti-thots are angry that Twitch won't do anything and have shifted to the targeting of individual thots.
Personally, if a female wants to use the majority of her 20s and 30s capitalizing on their looks (while they last) is their decision. People are free to snitch to the IRS if they wish. And for the love of god, teach young men that nobody.... in the history of the internet... has convinced a thot to fall in love with them because they donated on a stream.
Thots should accepts what they are and come to terms with it; they would get less hate.
Anti-thots should just accept they got catfished and move on; if only to save face.
If this is really true, then the ThotAudit people are truly idiots, and Libertarians should point at them and laugh. They are tantamount to the busybody moms who got Robotech pulled off the air back in the 80s.
If there is a thot on Twitch, she isn't "invading" anything. She has her own channel, and people can go to it or ignore it as they please.
Essentially these 4chan people are trying to impose their sense of morality on two people's consensual transaction, and that is pretty lame. It is amazing to see how even in countercultures, the puritan streak always manages to come through.
Mr. Monk, thank you for your explanation of this otherwise totally confusing article. ENB's piece said nothing whatever about "gamers", and I had never encountered the term "thot" before, so the entire context of what this was about was missing. Ratting on people to the IRS seems, in general, to be an utterly rotten thing to do, but I guess in the situation you describe, trying to remove the financial incentive for people to disrupt your community makes some sense. Even if you don't succeed in doing so.
I'm not sure trying to get someone audited is the appropriate response; however if they are just trolling around different places online spamming sites and platforms, some response is warranted, to be sure.
Like I say above, no one is going to be audited over this. Both sides are being silly and stupid.
The women wouldn't be there if there wasn't an audience for it. Like with all spam, somebody must be responding. And gamers are as likely as anyone to be a good target for hookers, if the stereotypes about them are even the tiniest bit true.
They most effective way to repel a hooker is to chat him up for 20 minutes and then say, Sorry, but I don't have any cash.
Works for phone scammers and debt collectors too.
Dude, the person behind this is Roosh of ReturnOfKings. A literal fascist site. Yes. Literal fascist, not "Donald Trump fascist."
His agenda is crystal clear. He hates "degenerate" women and wants to use the state to punish them.
This is the antithesis of a libertarian article. These "thot police" are free people freely exercising their rights.
This is the marketplace of public discourse in action. The author of this article seems less concerned about genuine liberty than about defending porn.
Oh, and "thot" is not racial. The article's suggestion that it is makes me think that it was written by an erstwhile Vox author.
I'm just glad we have fourth wave feminists to advance the conversation with technical terms like "grossness" and "creepy".
"This is the antithesis of a libertarian article. These 'thot police' are free people freely exercising their rights."
"I disapprove of you and will try to use the weight of government against you" is slightly less libertarian than is the "seriously?" scolding of this article, however.
"Pointlessly turning you in to the IRS who will do absolutely nothing" is totally the same as "Use the weight of government against you".
Reason has always had a soft spot for butt whores.
It's also a word used primarily in black communities, so its sudden adoption by the largely white conservative "thot auditors" feels more like deliberate mockery than casual cultural cross-pollination.
It probably is ironic usage, but it's not new. Thots been around for 3 years at least.
This is the first time I have seen any explanation of the word origin, though it does not really say what it exactly supposed to mean.
I heard it was That Ho Over There. But regardless, I've been hearing it awhile.
i thot it meant thot like thot police.
"Thot police", now there's a double entandre I can appreciate.
I've seen it on Reddit for at least 2 years, usually referring to any girl who will take off her clothes and post them online.
eBay sales?
"this is a thing?" insufficient.
I agree with many of the commenters that, contrary to the assertion in this article, libertarians spend a great deal of time obsessing over other people's tax burdens.
Every single one of them is way too high.
The tax burdens or the libertarians?
On the one hand, I agree with the comments regarding using the IRS as a weapon in this regard. However, the last line of the article... "But their campaign is basically just one more way for people to harass sex workers and other women online." I'm not sure I fully agree with this.
In the #MeToo era, it has become increasingly common for women to complain about men being boorish towards women, harassing them, and being toxically masculine.
As much as I dislike the way they're fighting back, I do feel they are giving women a taste of their own medicine. These men have a community that is based around gaming, and here women who are not interested in gaming intruding in the space harassing men in a sexual manner.
Of course there is the obvious rejoinder that these men (really mostly boys) can simply ignore these women, but just as women don't feel that being able to say no in these spaces is enough, why is it surprising that men (boys really) want to do the same thing.
Call it what you want... Schadenfreude, turn about, whatever... but really these men are just following "the new rules", or at least you need to consider that potential argument before simply condemning them.
>>>women ... intruding ... in a sexual manner.
spent 1977 --> now hoping for?
If there were some equivelent internet platform that was as dominated by women as gaming is dominated by men and men were going on the platform just to harass and hit on women, ENB would be having a stroke about how horrible the men were. But somehow it is different when women do it because sex workers or something.
WTF are you talking about? There is no single gaming platform, there are myriad. If this is really about Twitch then this campaign is beyond stupid. You have to choose which Twitch stream to watch. Don't like some "thot"'s stream? Watch someone else. Don't like the way Twitch favors some people for whatever reason? Go watch free streams somewhere else. Twitch is a private company and doesn't owe you anything.
I wonder lost in all of this is whether it is a result of FOSTA and the closing of Backpage.com? Children are now more exposed to sex workers online now that we've tried to shutdown sex workers online. Schadenfreude indeed.
That is a really good point. If hookers can't advertise on backpage, they will advertise somehwere else and that somewhere else is almost certain to be somewhere that is set up for some other purpose than advertising sex.
As usual, these sorts of bans end up making the problem they are trying to solve worse.
Yep.
Back when the Backpage was still around, The Strip use to be (and still is) littered with business cards advertising various escort services. Obnoxiously so. And way, way back in the day, the LA Weekly was strewn about with pamphlets from the Rene Guyon Society. That definitely drew some ire.
More than porn, more than Citizens United, more than possibly Wikileaks; if there is a grey area in 1st Amendment rights, it is advertising. Even the staunchest defenders of civil liberties are world-weary when facing down robocalls, pop-up ads, and payola. At some point, you start to understand the appeal of censorship.
There has to be a better middle ground between brand festooned world of Idiocracy and the puritanical monochrome sumptuary.
Reason unfortunately missed the mark by a mile.
they are giving women a taste of their own medicine
Because all women are collectively guilty for any woman who misuses #MeToo, amirite?
You really have a knack for taking the stupidest tack on any argument.
70% of millenial women vote democrat.
I'd say they're 70% collectively guilty for higher taxation
"It's also a word used primarily in black communities"
The term "thot" went mainstream beyond the black community years ago, Elizabeth. Jeez. I think Reason needs a younger millenial or Gen Z to keep you up to speed. A skinny blonde of any gender preferably, so you and Robbie can have another sibling.
ENB is old and square like Nick Gillespie.
like Nick Gillespie.
You take that back, faggot.
Because everywhere the gamers move to, the camwhores follow. Building a platform like Twitch isn't cheap or trivial.
"What kind of bootlicking busybodies spend their spare time worrying about whether individual strangers are paying enough in taxes, much less take the time to report them?"
I was going to say ugly people, but John says it's gamers interrupted by ads from hookers.
Let's assume the latter scenario is the right one, and accept that the IRS won't be responding to these audit requests.
It's still not right to report people to the IRS, especially in the absence of evidence that they're actually evading taxes.
Why not put this effort into finding a gaming platform which is hooker-free? Can't they afford one?
It is hard to find one that is. Also, they have a lot invested in the games they are playing. They invest a lot of time and energy into a game and then have it ruined by hookers constantly hitting them up for business.
If hookers started plying their trade on the sidewalk in front of your house, do you think saying "hey just move to a better neighborhood" would be a good response when you complained? I don't. Well the same logic applies here.
OK, I'm not familiar with how hookers spam up people's games, but I don't see how it's an IRS matter unless she specifically tells you "nobody has to know, not even the IRS!"
And it wouldn't be the IRS I'd call about the hookers on my sidewalk, if any. Unless they actually show some evidence they're not paying their income taxes like good citizens.
I'm actually surprised that tax evasion is not something they nail hookers on as a matter of routine, come to think of it. Unless they really have learned to pay their taxes properly.
I used to live on a street with whore trade. At Christmas the littered condoms were red and green. I found that oddly poignant. It didn't stop me from calling the cops on them when they were bobbing right under my window.
Gamers have no duty to retreat.
That would be 'whistle bait.'
"It's also a word used primarily in black communities, so its sudden adoption by the largely white conservative "thot auditors" feels more like deliberate mockery than casual cultural cross-pollination."
That is some quality pearl-clutching there. ENB.
It's like she sometimes gets insecure that her troll article will not have hit its mark with the commentariat; she has to get all over-obvious and ruin the artistry of the piece.
Once upon a time, I took the advice of former waitresses, and always tipped in cash, cause poor women need advantages. I know many people do this.
But thots unerringly call for everyone to pay their fair share while voting hard D, so to help with them, it's going on a credit card and I'm getting 2% cash back, and they're paying the IRS. Win win for #metoo.
I still tip in cash.
Boy, whatever this #thot thing is sounds like the nichiest of the nich problems.
Oh, this is just a symptom of three things that have not been paired together before.
1) Increased social opportunities for females
2) Pareto principle mate selection behaviors
3) False interpersonal connections due to the media in which thotary occurs
Is this issue, in isolation, a big issue? No.
Is this issue related to the current declination of long term male and female pair bonding? Yep.
In retrospect, will Thots be a factor in the shifting of anyone under 26 being more conservative than the three previous generations? Probably.
Would this have been avoided if Thots just accepted the moniker gracefully (ala camgirls) without fraudulently copyright striking the largest YouTuber in the world? Probably not.
fraudulently copyright striking the largest YouTuber in the world
Can you give a few details about that, for those of us who have no idea what you're referring to?
PewdiePie (largest Youtuber) called Alinity (Streamer) a Thot. She then Copystriked his video.
This sounds like some sort of GamerGate-esque bullshit that'll head south at a precipitous rate and contribute to the raping of internet communities.
P.S. Watching gaming streams is almost as lame as using black slang in a pathetic attempt to maintain a cool image while indulging in nerdy activities. Either embrace the things you love and not give a shit, or hide your god damn powerlevel like the rest of us.
Boo on your assessment of the black slang. Black Americans are one of the most culturally fertile peoples in human history. Everything they come up with, it's more a matter of when than if it starts spreading out to the rest of humanity. Calling out people's adoption of black cultural characteristics is like a perpetual grandpa trope. John McWhorter has pointed out this endless, ongoing process. Transport Britney Spears from her heyday back to the early '80s, she'd have struck people as acting ridiculously "black."
In this case these nerds are hardly being today's version of the "wiggers" from the 1990s or whatever. They're not even trying to pass themselves off as "cool," except on their own self-consciously nerdy terms ("Comic Book Guy cool," if you will). I declare them innocent! Begone into thy native dimension, pan-thot!
" Everything they come up with, it's more a matter of when than if it starts spreading out to the rest of humanity."
Not really, the rape and murder rate among every other demographic group in the country is about half, for example.
They are also the primary consumers of terrible beer.
As the world's foremost expert in Lawbertarianism I support this movement, because the law is the law, and when a person doesn't follow the law - and yes hoes are people, people - they should be prosecuted.
70% of millennial women vote democrat.
I find it very hard to care about the taxation on any group of people who have their hearts set on socialism
That is some fine Lawbertarian logic, sir. You will be receiving some pamphlets in the near future.

No. Reality is a bitch. Karma is just her stripper name.
Taxation is theft.
Would they report the family whose house hasn't yet been robbed to the local burglary ring? They probably would, because they are pasty-faced statist clingers. That's how roll.
I don't want anyone to have to pay taxes.

Wow, such a sadly uninformed, unintelligent article. The effort is clearly a joke to a very large degree with a bit of legitimate effort to push back against the extensive harassment and misrepresentation of accounts in the gamer community. Its really no different then spammers or phone scams, where these game platforms are used as vehicles to prey on young men, many of whom are minors.
Write an article next defending the "sex workers" who spam emails. I am sure they need your advocacy as well and everyone just love those spammers.
"But their campaign is basically just one more way for people to harass sex workers and other women online."
Wah! I thought only people I hate could have their livelihoods threatened by twitter mobs.
Turns out the politics of personal destruction is a game all sides can play.
These guys are basically internet (semi-savvy at best) soy boi incels who can't handle that women won't given them the time of day because they can't take time to wash their greasy hair and cheetos dusted fingers. Sad, indeed.
"What kind of bootlicking busybodies spend their spare time..." We all know what kind. Incels with narcissistic rage at a lack of supply. If they spent their time working on improving their job skills, they'd probably make enough money to attract someone or at least rent the desired GFE gratifications.
I mean, two women have already been confirmed to be audited. I know these incels motivations are misguided and they really just hate women, but i'd be willing to bet most premium snapchatters / patreon nude saleswomen are not paying taxes and they should be. If i have to do ACTUAL work 40 hours a week and the IRS is taking a huge cut for ACTUAL work, these people should be paying their way too. Like public schools, highways, etc? Pay your damn taxes.
They weren't audited because of this. I dealt with a non payment of self-employment tax issue in the past (long story short - I worked for a company, they misclassified me as an IC, the IRS thought I should have paid the employer side of FICA, the IRS investigated and determined I was being misclassified and should have been an employee). The IRS took 18 months from the time the tax forms were filed to even contact me about there being a discrepancy.
If these women are being audited, it's not because some idiots reported them over the weekend. The IRS moves much slower than that. The timing is just coincidental.
My ya son got caught up in this over the weekend and came to me with a lot of questions about income tax reporting obligations. He read me a number of back and forth comments from opposing viewpoints where posting were dispensing armchair tax advice. Egads, that advice, regardless of the source or position on the issue, was universally wrong. This editorial could have explored a little further than Roosh V advocating the erroneous online reporting of tax scofflaws, and took a deeper dive to how Americans don't understand taxes and their tax reporting obligations when self-employed.
The IRS has a web site, you know - - - - - - - -
The IRS booklets on how to report self employment, and what business and financial records to keep are (for a government) straightforward.
Short story; pay both sides of Social Security and Medicare, unemployment taxes depend on company size. And of course income taxes; quarterly or more often if he is really, really making big bucks.
This could lead to all kinds of behavior being classified as thot crimes.
So, the takeaway is that women harassing men online is basically just one more way for people to harass sex workers and other women online.
Doubleplus ungood!
Why is Reason covering memes now? They were late to the Pepe bandwagon, and now we've had articles on this and the NPC meme.
Surely there are more important things to write about.
So #thotaudit is deeply, painfully stupid, but publicly doxxing somebody on Twitter and contacting his employer to try to get him fired from his job for making a joke was jolly good. Go fuck yourself you hypocritical cunt.
Nice catch.
"And the decision to target only women making a living off their looks smacks of straight-up sexism, not a neutral, civic-minded concern with IRS evasion."
Wait, isn't it because of sexism that these women can make that much (more) money? Would that sexist bonus be fully absorbed by the increase in tax-paying (here assumed to be minimal) that is due to sexism? Maybe this isn't so straight-up, overall.
That said, I'm not in favor of this. The comment is only directed at hypocrisy in dealing with "sexism", and specific advantages/disadvantages/trade-offs of men and women, respectively.
Food for thot, ENB?
Next up. Ratting out smart people for being smart.
Or how about we rat out the rats for not paying taxes on the rewards they don't earn?
Self-employed people in general do get audited more than the average person, simply because they are less likely to have good, thorough records of their income and expenses; and if your records won't stand up to an audit, the IRS will guess what the real numbers are and make you pay tax on those. And it'll be expensive.
But at least a sex worker isn't likely to make the kinds of accounting mistakes that other self-employed people often make. To be in most kinds of business, you need to either know accounting or hire an accountant.
This seems less like a well-researched article that dives into both sides of the subject matter to make a compelling point and more of a typical knee-jerk defense of sex workers...
That's ENB for you. As a whole, Reason has been terrible at understanding context of anything that goes against the left or their pet causes
Someone needs a kick in the balls. Wait... two - one for each ball. Hands off our hotties!
Nice this article's comments give a great a list of fake libertarians.
It's revealing you manage to write the entire article and not note the entire reason for the campaign: that these sex workers are posting in inappropriate fora and this is an attempt to get them to stop. This is another example of Reason failing in its basic mission of proving political advocacy doesn't have to be as stupid as Reps and Dems usually make it.
this post is verry well
There is hilarity on both sides of this. All the stupidity of the kids reporting thots don't seem to realize that bringing IRS attention to this little slice of the world may hurt their heros as much as it will hurt the thots they are reporting. The IRS is like a blinded cyclops swinging a big club.
On the other hand, the thots that seem to be grossly misinformed as to their income tax liabilities. I forget all of their stupid points, but many of them claim that "gifts" from "friends" on PayPal aren't taxable, they don't seem to realize they are required to make quarterly payments and they also seem to throw around various dollar thresholds for reporting income. I'm sure that some of them report and pay their tax liability properly, but many of them are making bold and incorrect assertions regarding their tax obligations. I think there might be real blood spilt if this causes the IRS to look into this little niche.
Thanks admin for giving such valuable information through your article . Your article is much more similar to http://www.mkoutletfire.com/mi.....white.html word unscramble tool because it also provides a lot of knowledge of vocabulary new words with its meanings.
I cannot excuse playing Stasi for the IRS, no matter how clumsy and irrelevant they're snitching might have been.
Speaking of hashtags, I clicked on something recently that took me to a twitter which made me realise the shear, huge amount of openly displayed hatred, and callous thoughts toward "cis-het", "heteronormative", "white", etc people that exists, and how this is totally accepted and considered morally superior to not saying those things in that sphere. Signal or be burned for heresy! I think it was to do with that gender reveal brush fire.

Yeah, I think Reason needs a younger millenial or Gen Z to keep you up to speed. A skinny blonde of any gender preferably, so you and Robbie can have another sibling.
Is Hot women making money off their hotness without the government getting a cut the same as whores not paying taxes???
Why write a piece about a stupid posting by putting up a stupid posting of your own.
If two wrongs make a right then maybe the web idiot and the print idiot could combine their talents and write something worthwhile......doubtful, but there is always a chance.

When people are asked to use gut instinct to stop real but rare horrors, relying on racial stereotypes and other biases tends to rule.
Is that why the cops pulled a gun on my friend the day I moved him and his babby mamma into my town. It's strange how one of the other regulars at the Wellness Center died of a drug overdoes latter that night in the Wellness Center bathroom.
