Brickbat: Extreme Reaction

The European Court of Human Rights has upheld injunctions against a German pro-life activist barring him from referring to the abortions performed by some doctors as "aggravated murder" and comparing them to the Holocaust. The court said his remarks could incite "hatred and aggression" and the injunctions are "necessary in a democratic society"

Won't people ever learn?
The US is the ONLY country with free speech.
And that, for only as long as we actually fight to keep it.
Unless your speech is obscene, inflammatory, inflicting emotional distress &c.
or we don' like what you're saying
Protected.
Which is almost any joke on Facebook. I'm using Gab more and more these days.
Those categories of speech are still protected in the USA.
nah https://goo.gl/qh34vP
Yup
It ruled that, while the injunctions did limit his freedom of expression, they were "necessary in a democratic collectivist society".
The German state has never really gotten the hang of being a free society.
You are not truly free if someone can still upset you with their words.

Yup. Socialists using gov to silence dissent.
Been done before. For Germany, Hitler did exactly that.
First it was illegal to deny the holocaust. Now it's illegal to acknowledge one. Mmmmmm, irony.
It's still legal to stay silent... well, on most issues.
In the USA only.

Not as good as Buck Cherry.
Some day we will finally be rid of Moloch worship, and put an end to human sacrifice. Some day.
Tohil says "NEVER"
No more long pig? I has a sad.
It is almost as if the logic of abortion is morally corrosive in society and is the "right" that eats all other rights.
A democracy can stifle anyone it wishes. So happy to live in a democratic Constitutional Republic with rights for the minority even when or especially when the majority happens to be a bunch of political hacks and their appointed minions.
Sticks and stone may break my bones, but words will really maim me!
Sure, it may be necessary in a democratic society. But not in a free one.
It will be interesting when Muslims start protesting abortion on religious grounds. The EU will not know which way to cave.
France always just unilaterally gives up and lets the conqueror march in the shade.
