Brickbat: Hostile Takeover

John McDonnell, the likely finance minister if the Labour Party takes control of the British government, says Labour would move quickly to nationalize key industries and might not compensate owners in some cases. McDonnell named "rail, water, energy, and mail" among the industries the party would like for the government to take over.

So, hopefully this guy will get his by a double-decker bus before that occurs.
Venezuela but without the oil.
Britain does have its share of North Sea oil.
The Labour Party wants to regress 30 some years to before Thatcher, because they have always been authoritarian cretins.
I hope the IRA comes back then too.
You cannot have 1970s and 1980s Britain without the IRA.
I was gonna say...
It's not Venezuela when you don't have a dictator and follow correct democratic guidelines, so it will work this time.
Democracy can have dictators too -- there's a REASON the US was set up as a constitutional republic rather than a pure democracy. In our system, my rights are my rights and your rights are your rights, and neither of us can just take the other's away at whim. In a pure democracy, people can be voted 'off the island'!
A 1970's remake? Coming soon. Of course, this time it will work with the 'right' people in charge.
Ah Communism on Garbage Island.
Anyone else notice that lots of women are now wearing high-waisted mommy jeans and sometimes even leg warmers because the 80s are back? And a couple of years ago it was all about a 70s look?
Politicians are doing the same thing. They continually recycle crap that was pretty horrible the first time around! The difference is that you can choose to ignore dumb fashion, but you can't do that to your rulers. The fashion police is nothing compared to actual police.
What right thinking person doesn't long for the return of the National Coal Board? Good times!
Good lord - not more limeys coming to our shore. This will cause a mass exodus.
"McDonnell named "rail, water, energy, and mail" among the industries the party would like for the government to take over."
The Commanding Heights, excepting the posties. .
I can certainly see why they're so worked up over 2A type stuff over there.
Rail? Mail? Seriously!? I missed that the first time!
This steampunk-wannabe is stuck in the 70s all right: the 1870s! Next think you know, he'll be arguing for government control over those newfangled diesel generators and Edison bulbs!
Do Britons
Do Britons actually take these people seriously? I'm suspecting they keep political fossils like these around to snicker and at them.
Unfortunately, yes they do. A Labour takeover is unlikely at this stage, but far from impossible.
They're going full retard. You never go full retard.
