Cohen Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion, Claims Trump Told Him to Pay Off Paramours
Those payments are being treated as campaign violations.

Michael Cohen, former lawyer for President Donald Trump, has pleaded guilty to eight charges, including coordinating with Trump during the campaign to make payments to women in order to silence them about sexual liasions.
In federal court in Manhattan this afternoon, Cohen surrendered to the FBI and pleaded guilty to five counts of tax evasion from 2012 to 2016 (equal to more than $4 million), one count of making a false statement to a financial institution, and most importantly, two counts related to illegal campaign contributions from 2016.
Cohen told the court that he arranged for payments for porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy playmate Karen McDougal to keep them silent about sexual relationships with Trump. He says he did so in coordination with Trump, who later reimbursed him $130,000, concealing when the payments took place in order to appear that they didn't happen during the election.
Cohen didn't actually name Trump, but he did say he did this at the direction of "a candidate," not leaving many other options as to who that might be.
More details of the plea agreement are to come. The agreement does not oblige Cohen to cooperate further with prosecutors. But given the two campaign charges he's pleading guilty to, the lack of a cooperation agreement may not mean a lot.
The deal includes jail time and a fine. He'll be sentenced in December.
UPDATE: Read the plea agreement here. Read the U.S. attorney's charges here.

Illegal campaign contributions my ass. If the payoffs to Stormy Daniels and others had actually been paid for by the campaign (and the proper reports made to the FEC), Mueller would be alleging misuse of campaign funds for personal use.
A) Mueller didn't bring this case.
B) Trump should have used his own money.
C) There was evidence that the money was used to aid the campaign. Circumstantial (earlier, the deals were not accepted by Cohen, when it became a liability for the campaign, it was.) as well as taped conversations.
Keep grasping those straws!
Keep whistling past the graveyard!
When you have anything other than voices in your head, get back to me, loser.
B) he did use his own money and not campaign money.
C) He has made hush money payments previously to other women per both trump and Cohen. It wasn't unique to the campaign.
D) you probably forgot about the millions in foreign money Obama had to pay back post 2012 election. Didn't even have time report Facebook in kind contribution for all the data they gave him!
A) He had his fixer pay the money then paid him back under the table. He lied about it then admitted it later.
B). What he did before is irrelevant. When you are a candidate for president there are rules although they are not enforced well.
C) Hillary is a non sequitur
Obama whatever
Was there a point in there?
I understand some 'healthplans' are now offering free treatment for TDS.
Really? What does the treatment consist of?
Be a little more creative. I was thinking one of those things where they strap you in a chair, give you LSD, clamp open your eyelids, and have you watch 48 hours of The Apprentice.

"Really? What does the treatment consist of?"
With some luck, it could be euthanasia; you would be doing the world a favor.
Trump funded large sums for his campaigns and also was paying Cohen as his private attorney. This is a story about nothing as far as Trump goes. The payments will be said to be from funds he gave the campaign or funds he was paying to Cohen as his personal attorney. End of story.
Time to go back to debating policy, but then again that would be real work for politicians.
#donaldtrump: Prove it.
Let the shit storm begin.
Cohen told the court that he arranged for payments for porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy playmate Karen McDougal to keep them silent about sexual relationships with Trump.
I trust Mueller will also go after Daniels and McDougal for the illegal campaign contributions of remaining silent.
Mueller isn't the prosecutor here. Cohen was investigated by the SDNY.
Right.
Traditionally there would have been more "i"s in that "Riiight".
They were paid. That's not a contribution.
Well, not a *monetary* contribution.
The relevant laws specifically exempt paid work (at "fair market value") from the definition of contribution (also, Steele wasn't directly hired by the campaign).
?
He's got the tin-foil hat concession.
If you give me a hat, that's a present. If you exchange a hat for my $20, it's a sale. You can sell things to a campaign. You can't give them gifts over $2700.
"This was always about campaign violations and we have always supported campaign finance laws"
- Reason tomorrow
Why not?. It's true.
The losers are falling all over themselves, in sheer desperation.
What's true? By everyone's accounts these aren't the first two paid hush money by trump. It's happened before. If an expense occurs normally prior to running for office it isn't considered a campaign expense.
If they have a taped conversation tying it to the campaign, however.

Lost what? It aint over.
One more loser heard from.
They had to destroy libertarianism in order to save it.
Wouldn't get too excited - Edwards skated on a stronger case. His finance chair solicited funds from a donor for hush money and nothing stuck.
I am looking forward to some amusing displays of blatant hypocracy though.
Whatabout Bill Clinton's consensual blow job! What about that?? Huh?
Precedential cases are considered in our legal system, idiot.
You mean the blow job he lied to congress about?!? Oh. Did you think the problem was actually the blow job ? Silly boy. Your bias is showing.
No bias. I think Trump should be impeached when he commits perjury too.
LOL no bias. "When he commits perjury". No bias would have used "if". Again, pull up those pants, your bias is still showing
Just kidding, I am very biased. I think Clinton was a pretty good president, and I think Trump is one o the worst humans alive.
Aside from a more polished fa?ade, what makes Clinton any better a human than Trump?
He's raising money to cure AIDS babies. The only thing Trump thinks about AIDS babies is that they live in shithole countries.

There's not much chance to skate once you plead guilty.
Either you think trump plead guilty or you have the reading comprehension of a first grader.
"...you have the reading comprehension of a first grader."
You are too kind again.
Stormy Daniels, and Karen McDougal. What did they know, and when did they know it? And who did they know it on? And what did they know it with? And where did they know it?
Questions poured down like rain. All we know is that this is the most criminal and inept administration I have ever seen in my life I cant for the life of me understand how you CRAZY SONS OF BITCHES LET THIS HAPPEN THIS MAN IS SUCH A FUCKING I CAN'T EVEN OH MY GOD EXPLOSIVE DIARREAH WE ARE ALL GOING TO HELL FROM THE RUSSIANS WITH THE PORN STARS AND THE PEE TAPES!
This one is bullshit and I think Mueller may now have overplayed his hand. Just like whitewater (which I was too young to understand the land deal) if this becomes about sex then the people will forgive Trump and Mueller will look like Ken Star wasting taxpayer funds looking into consensual BJs.
Mueller referred Cohen's case to SDNY he didn't bring these charges.
Which makes it even more irrelevant. Mueller still has nothing except that Rob Manfort committed tax fraud years before he was connected to Trump and while he was working for Tony Podesta
Rob Manafort? Lol
Apparently the president's campaign manager and personal lawyer going to prison, in one instance directly implicating Trump in one the crimes, is actually no big deal because it doesn't have to do with Russia. Lmao
Manfort was his campaign manager for like a month and Trump fired him. And none of his crimes have anything to do with Trump.
And Cohn paid off a hooker. Yeah, blowjobs are a big deal. But hey let's pretend they are so people like you who pushed and believed the Russian collusion bullshit for months can avoid being called on it.
Come on you are usually better than Tony
Manafort worked for Trump for almost five months - about 8 weeks as campaign convention manager (as which he arranged for a pro-Russian plank in the party platform), and then three months as campaign chairman & chief strategist. He was also campaign manager during the last two of those months.
Kenneth Kelly|8.21.18 @ 7:30PM|#
"Manafort worked for Trump for almost five months - about 8 weeks as campaign convention manager (as which he arranged for a pro-Russian plank in the party platform), and then three months as campaign chairman & chief strategist. He was also campaign manager during the last two of those months."
And Kennedy is spelled with 7 LETTERS!
2 months (a key time in the campaign as it covered the convention) and he was a member of the campaign for 5. His corruption was also obvious well before Trump hired him so that's a pretty weak excuse.
Funny that the party who thought it was a big deal when Clinton got a blowjob thinks the president violating the law while paying off his mistresses doesn't matter.
I have been far from some enthusiastic deeply committed believer in Russian collusion. I have never once said that I think it's certain that actual, direct collusion happened. What I have said is that 1) I don't think the investigation is a witch hunt and it is very plausible there was collusion 2) Regardless of whether collusion ultimately materialized, the publicly available evidence of the Trump Tower meeting shows at an absolute minimum that key members of Trump's campaign and family were willing to collude with the Russian government (and that it's very difficult to believe Trump's son, son-in-law, and campaign manager had this meeting in his Tower while not telling him about it).

Like Alex Jones has just been asking questions about jet fuel and steel beams.
Over a dozen people went to jail for Whitewater...
You mean the Special Prosecutor requested by Clinton? All but two minor convictions had no connection at all to the Clintons. Like the actions (so far) in the Mueller probe. But Clinton is a Democrat and Trump is a Republican. So double standards
Manafort never worked for Podesta. Manafort was working for the President of the Ukraine when he arranged for Podesta's group to be hired by the ECMU - itself a front group for the Ukraine government. If anything, Podesta was working for Manafort.
Regardless it had nothing to do with Trump

Regardless, hasn't the public been lectured, ad nauseam, by the left that sex between consenting adults (or in Slick Willie's case sometimes nonconsenting) was no one's business? You mean the left lied? Say it ain't so.

I am not a lawyer and I just skimmed the document with the attorney's charges, but it looks like this could have all been considered a private matter unrelated to the campaign, except: Cohen had a campaign email address and often met with the campaign, and they had campaign meetings where they discussed paying off women.
I guess the smart way for Trump to have played it would have been to keep his lawyer separate from his campaign staff, or have a separate lawyer for making payoffs.
Yes, someone with reading comprehension skills!
It doesnt matter. Cohen is pleading to end Muellers charging spree.
Manafort prosecutors have one week to decide if they are charging manafort. They wont. Manafort goes to trial in DC. Trump pardons all convictions for manafort. Meanwhile, cohen is sentenced and trump pardons him.
Who else is mueller left with? Nobody.
Mueller is dismissed. rosenstein is fired. Election 2018 gets the GOP more seats in congress. The non-lefty base of americans are sick of swamp politics by lefties, so they punish them at the voting booths.
Trump is safer with Manafort in jail. There will be no pardon.
Cohen turned on Trump. Cardinal sin. He's fucked.
I wish they would apply these same standards to all political campaigns. I'm not saying that as a defense of Trump or anyone in his orbit. But, I'm betting if you applied the same level of scrutiny to pretty much any political campaign, you would find a lot of tax cheats and 'campaign violations'. We might get a better class of politicians if we started treating them all like the criminals they truly are.
One of the commentariat has suggested making broken campaign promises prosecutable as a form of perjury.
Fraud? False advertising? 😀
I'm betting you'd have a hard time finding anybody to take your bet. Campaign finance oversight is a joke, you're pretty much on the honor system unless and until somebody makes a complaint. And then "oops, I forgot, I'll return the money" is usually a get-out-of-jail-free card. And that's with cash, in-kind contributions are even murkier. Which I'm guessing that's what this is - the hush money itself wasn't an illegal campaign contribution, it was the $130,000 worth of silence. Newspaper editorial page endorsements or celebrity endorsements at Hollywood awards shows, essentially campaign advertisements that you'd gladly pay $130,000 for, are not considered an in-kind contribution so go figure.
Duncan Hunter just got indicted for misuse of campaign funds.
Do you have to have tiny hands to grasp straws that small?
Presidents should be impeached on a regular basis, just to keep them moving through the system like a lukewarm Chipotle salad.
This is the biggest thing since yesterday in the world of Get Trump. Yeah he's going down this time fer sure.
He had sex with models and porn stars. That kind has f thing ruins a man in today's society right?
Even more proof that Drumpf's presidency is a fraud.
Paul Krugman has a smart take: Kavanaugh may yet be confirmed, but this will make the SC fundamentally illegitimate.
#Resist

"fundamentally illegitimate"
Bastard!
As opposed to tangentially illegitimate. God what a clown
I love it when they talk like this.
Like there's some legitimacy switch that flips off, right when they say so.
It would be nice if you could cite that claim about what he said in court, since that was clearly what the MSM was saying. We are supposed to believe the media, lie after lie.
The media lied that the the Manafort jury only had one charge they were deadlocked on and that was a lie. The jury had 10 charges they were deadlocked on. That doe snot fit the narrative that Manafort was super guilty.
Every word is a pathetic lie. In desperation. Your time has expired. It's over. You lose.
Boomer fight!
I know you hate it but Trump will pardon them and trump will win reelection in 2020.
Your lefty tears will be wonderful to collect.
(laughing) Two days ago, your infantile sneering and ridicule claimed ZERO possibility of Manafort being convicted/ He was convicted. New partisan hackery
Predictable.
Dumbfuck Hihnsano, the sad, pathetic shell of a has-been who never was, seeks validation from the young'uns.
Manafort was found guilty on 8 charges. with maximum prison time of 80 years.
Anything else?
Hey tReason ! Your immigration policy called and it needs a lawyer for a capital case of kidnapping, rape and murder of an innocent all-American corn-fed Midwestern co-ed.
They are too busy crying over a two time felon almost getting deported to worry about some innocent coed. She is not even a tranny for God sake. Probably had it coming to her
Don't forget the tears of an actual Nazi prison guard being deported.
no comment
Mueller is wrapping up his cases that dont relate to Russia tampering with the election and that leaves plenty of time for Trump to pardon them and the election 2018 to have a bunch of lost seats for Democrats.
Are you talking about the Senate or the House? There's a good chance the Dems lose seats in the former with how favorable the map is for Republicans. There's no way in hell they lose seats in the House, the Rs will be lucky to retain their majority.
CBS tracking poll has Republicans easily retaining. Tracking polls more closely called 2016 than random sampling. CBS learned it's lesson... Did you?
The GOP will keep majorities in House and Senate.
Non-lefty Americans are sick of swamp creatures like mueller, comey, brennan... being so corrupt.
Maga!
Democrats will gain enough seats in November to take the House of Representatives. And with Drumpf's corruption being exposed, he will probably be removed from office next year.
#BlueWave
Was about to responded but realized it was the parody account. So of course you wouldn't know it takes the Senate and not just the house to remove a president. Good subtle work!
Yes, when you pay off hookers to keep quiet, that's a campaign finance violation.
We have these campaign finance laws, to make sure we know how campaigns are funded.
And when you pay off hookers, why, that just messes up transparency.
We can't have big money influencing our democracy by paying off the hookers!
Paying off hookers is not illegal. Using campaign funds to payoff hookers is. Cohen did not have access to campaign funds. I don't even know if Cohen was involved in the campaign. Cohen previously stated he (Cohen) paid the women and Trump reimbursed him (Cohen). For the transactions to violate campaign finance law 1) Cohen would have paid $130K to the campaign. 2) The campaign treasurer would write a check for $130k to Stormy Daniels. No evidence was presented of items 1 & 2.
You should hurry to alert Michael Cohen and his lawyers to your exculpatory insights.
Pretty sure they already know it, asshole.
Cohen took a sweetheart deal and understood the law. They had to get him saying trump ordered him to a non crime. Big deal. You're not smart rev.
"You're not smart rev."
You're too kind.
It doesnt matter what cohen plead to. He will never spend a day in jail. Trump will pardon cohen. Trump will pardon manafort after manafort too.
Not a single person affiliated with Obama's administration or campaigns was ever charged with or found guilty of any felonies.
Ahem.
Clinton Donor, Obama Ambassador Indicted In Massive Alleged Fraud Scheme
One right-wing site uses another right-wing site as its source. Surprised?
Fine. Pick your own link.
Or, if you can refute the story, be my guest. However, it's fairly well known and understood news.
Let's not play pretend games.
They're all right-wing. Except the ones that don't confuse an indictment with conviction, as you pretended.
"In all, governments and corporations involved in the arms deals approved by Clinton's State Department have delivered between $54 million and $141 million to the Clinton Foundation as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars in payments to the Clinton family, according to foundation and State Department records."
----Mother Jones
May 28, 2015
http://www.motherjones.com/pol.....rms-deals/
Because the Obama administration failed to indict itself hardly means that no one in the Obama administration ever committed any felonies.
The funny thing about my post is that anything you losers post in response will only serve to highlight the sheer vastness of the difference between the Trumpies and the Obamas in terms of corruption.
Obama said 57 states! Remember that! Now that was treason! *cries into pillow*
Losers? We won with Trump, you lost.
President Obama authorized spying on domestic political opponents, his Administration rigged the presidential election. And despite all that he and his designated successor lost.
Both 100% lies. There's no hope for you people until Rush Limbaugh and FOX News fall into a volcano.
Sigh.
You poor dear.
Foreign governments and defense contractors who had sales pending that couldn't be completed without Hillary Clinton's approval as Secretary of State gave tens of millions to the Clinton Foundation as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars more directly to the Clinton family.
That isn't according to Mother Jones. That's according to the Clinton Foundation and State Department records.
Whether Hillary Clinton was indicted for her corruption is beside the point--if she was, in fact, corrupt. And according to her own foundation and the State Department, she was corrupt. Why brag of the Obama administration's clean reputation when Hillary Clinton's corruption at the State Department is both thoroughly documented and public knowledge?
We do not share in your delusion. Neither the Obama administration, Hillary Clinton, or the Democratic Party are immune to corruption. If you think people should support progressives because they're somehow immune to corruption, you're being ridiculous. Never mind the progressives' love affair with socialism, open hostility to individual rights, and sick elitism. We should support them anyway because they're immune to corruption--as exemplified by the Obama administration?
That's plain stupid.
Mother Jones and you people have something in common: Clinton hysteria. After all that's happened since the election it beggars belief that you're still latching onto long-discredited nonsense attempts at pinning something on HRC. We sold arms to countries we were gonna sell arms to anyway. Lots of countries donate to the Clinton foundation. No doubt some murderers and pedophiles do too. Maybe even Trump has.
Still, as I've heard ad nauseam the past few days, innocent until proven guilty. Or is that only Republicans?
"After all that's happened since the election it beggars belief that you're still latching onto long-discredited nonsense attempts at pinning something on HRC."
"Emails reveal how foundation donors got access to Clinton and her close aides at State Dept."
Yeah, selling political access to foreign government officials while holding the SoS portfolio is 'nonsense', right?
"After all that's happened since the election it beggars belief that you're still latching onto long-discredited nonsense attempts at pinning something on HRC."
Long discredited?
You didn't actually read the article, did you?
They detail which companies and governments gave how much. It isn't even disputed. Hillary Clinton reported this stuff herself.
It's like she announced she'd been robbing banks--x from this bank, y from that bank, z from another bank, here's the spreadsheet--and the Justice Department decided that was all okay since she disclosed her bank robberies in harmony with campaign finance laws.
You're making a fool of yourself. Hillary Clinton was a crook. She took money from foreign governments while she was the Secretary of State--fer cryin' out loud. And your insistence that the Obama administration was clean as a whistle--despite the 800 lbs gorilla in the middle of the room--goes beyond laughable.
It's delusional. You really believe that Hillary Clinton didn't take money from foreign governments and defense contractors while she was Obama's secretary of state, don't you? That's delusion.
Comey let us know exactly how their thinking on this went.
He said it plainly- everyone knew she was going to win. That was the reason.
It is that simple. You don't try to take down the person who is undoubtedly about to be signing your checks. The Clinton machine controlled the DNC - completely. So much so that they rigged the Democrat primary. We know this as a fact - it is in the Podesta emails and it led to the firing of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.
Everyone knew this. This is why only Bernie Sanders ran against her. There was no chance that HRC was not going to be the next president. And then the Republicans nominated Trump. That just had to seal the deal. Trump was one of the Clinton campaign's hand-picked best-case opponents. Again, we know this from the email leak. They worked with the media to push Trump to the front. (at the same time that Russia was working to push Trump to the front... probably for similar reasons... that Trump would result in chaos)
So no way in hell were any career prosecutors going after her. They all kicked it upstairs. And it was quietly killed.
None of this is really in dispute. The only "controversy" is if you try to say that not indicting someone because you are afraid of the repercussions is a corruption of the justice system. The other point of view would be that this is the proper exercise of their discretion. An indeed, everyone in the chain had the authority to make the decisions that they made.
So when are the indictments coming? I'm sure we're within the statute of limitations. Trump promised an investigation!!!
It helps when you have a DOJ who will never prosecute
And I suppose it helps to get through the day when you can convince yourself of things that mean you're never wrong about anything, no matter how absurd they are.
You got 'em! Score! Funny!
Are you intentionally ignoring the sweetheart please the Obama got for relieving millions in foreign donations? You understand you are only showing a disparity in the application of the law... Yet you happily cheer this disparity like an ignorant fool... Why?
Unlucky for team Lefty many of those crimes committed while obama was president have not exceeded statue of limitations.
Once mueller is fired, the real investigations can begin. Trump wont pardon Lefties though. They will have to do hard time.
If the evil elf had proved as loyal as Holder, nothing would have happened in the Trump administration either.
I can hear the rattle of hand cuffs.
As, Houdini-like, Trump slips out of them? Cohen's a liar, none of this is actually illegal, it's all a witch hunt and fake news, we're invading Venezuela next week. And Trump's approval rating will go up by 3/4 of a point.
You ever read about con men getting busted? The cops will go looking for scam victims to testify and they'll find plenty of people willing to testify. For the defense. The scam victims are totally convinced the scam is legit and the cops are screwing up their chance to hit the big pay-off, the one the con man's been promising them is just a few more days and a few more dollars down the road. They don't want to admit, can't admit, can't face the self-examination, that they were fools, that they were greedy, that they were so easily manipulated. There just has to be a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow! And anybody that tells them the rainbow's just a greasy smear on a broken glass and there ain't no pot of gold, why, those are just haters and negative Nellies and liars out to steal the pot of gold for themselves. Anything you say to try to convince them they've been conned is somehow twisted in their minds into just more proof to them that they weren't conned.
What you describe is actually how they get Mafia bosses, the equivalent of Trump.
Trump told me not to believe a word you say, because you'd die to defend him of a far worse crime. Murder. In broad daylight. With witnesses.
Now you tell us how your lie would be conducted.
One eyewitness films it all as a video. The video is shown multiple times, on every news channel and website.
As Trumptards screech -- in triumph -- "MORE FAKE NEWS." --- puppets on a string, manipulated by their puppetMASTER. Still.
Not really your ransom-note quality yet, dumbass.
It's really hard to tell the satire these days.
Hillary is scared of being arrested.
Trump wont pardon her like he will pardon cohen and manafort.
Umm, Jeff Sessions has refused to re-open an investigation of Hillary, saying there is no evidence after three years
But the Mueller probe, with three dozen indictments and 7 convictions and/or guilty pleas in half the time is "too long" (lol)
You're actually proud that Emperor Trump would PROVE even greater abuses of power!
And you said Manafort would NEVER be convicted.
Move along folks. Nothing here ...
"The agreement does not oblige Cohen to cooperate further with prosecutors. But given the two campaign charges he's pleading guilty to, the lack of a cooperation agreement may not mean a lot."
It doesn't mean a lot to me--despite pleading guilty to failing to report paying off porn stars.
You want to see something that really does make me pissed off at the Trump administration?
"The Trump administration is moving closer this week to levying tariffs on nearly half of Chinese imports despite broad opposition from U.S. business and the start of a fresh round of talks between the U.S. and China to settle the trade dispute."
----WSJ
http://www.wsj.com/articles/u-.....534798515?
Does anybody seriously believe the two-thirds of the senate will vote to remove Trump from office for paying porn stars to keep quiet in violation of campaign finance laws?
Even if Michael Cohen weren't strong-armed into this plea, why should anybody believe that the senate will choose to face the voters after removing the president from office over paying off porn stars?
I think Trump treated Stormy better than Clinton treated Monica.
Just sayin'.
It isn't even about the way the women were treated. It's the nature of the offense.
You're supposed to report every penny and how you spent it according to campaign finance laws. If Trump didn't report the hush money he gave to porn stars, is that even a legitimate crime?
He didn't take a bribe from some company in a quid pro quo. He didn't pay somebody break into the Watergate hotel in a dirty tricks campaign. He paid a woman to shut up about potentially embarrassing information.
That's an example of campaign finance laws run amok. It's not an example of something the American people are going to get upset about because Trump raised money from special interests under the table and spent it on dirty tricks without telling anybody. He didn't do that. What he paid her to shut up about wasn't a crime, wasn't illegal, and didn't violate anybody's rights. It was just embarrassing. You don't veto a presidential election over a non-crime that's simply embarrassing.
P.S. Has Stormy Daniels been investigated for extortion? Seems to me that extorting a presidential candidate should be a federal crime--not that she necessarily did that. Whose idea was it to give her money to shut up? Was she already talking to the media, or did she threaten to talk to the media unless she was paid?
Was the money paid from campaign funds?
You do understand, right, that Trump won the Electoral College by a tiny 39,000 voters. in three states combined, 0.03% of the vote

Yeah, but Hillary Clinton outspent Trump, and we all know how big money influences democracy. So really, Hillary was supposed to lose.
Sorry, but propaganda works, so that's it.
Was not leaking the Access Hollywood tape interfering with the election?
Is revealing facts the same as bribery to cover them up reality.
Why do you believe it was "interference" to report all of Trump's bankruptcies and other failures?
Yes.
Revealing is the same as covering up. Trumpism.
Impeachment is not a court proceeding; it is a Congressional one. Congress can impeach an official for "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." It's completely up to Congress to impeach and convict. Whether a specific law was broken is somewhat beside the point.
It isn't a criminal proceeding, but the senate needs to go face their electorate afterwards.
They don't have to defend their votes to convict (and remove from office) in court, but they do need to face their constituents afterwards.
More than one third of the senators out there would lose their seats if they ticked off the Republican base by kicking Trump out of the White House without sufficient justification.
Impeachment isn't a criminal trial. Voters can kick their senators out of office for any reason they want, too.
Nixon thought he would get by, too. He thought he could yell witch hunt and biased democrats and fire the investigator.
It was a much simpler case, and still took two years, and that's because he put everything on tape.
Stay strong. I'm sure it'll be different with Trump.

"Spouting nonsense is an end in itself."
Trump has a better chance of being reelected than he did of being elected in the first place, and those chances go up if he's impeached.
It's the ol' Usual Suspects question, "Would you shoot the Devil in the back? What if you miss?"
Nothing will make Trump seem like an outsider who shook up the elitist swamp like congress trying to impeach him and failing.
"Nothing will make Trump seem like an outsider who shook up the elitist swamp like congress trying to impeach him and failing."
Especially 'impeaching' him for getting elected instead of the hag, regardless of how that's spun.
Exactly Ken. The Lefties dont even see whats coming.
Trump already setup the witch hunt scenario. Mueller gave immunity to Lefties who committed crimes and he is running out of cooperating witnesses. His mandate is nearly over.
Trump pardons anyone convicted that he likes and exposes the corrupt bureaucrats like mueller for what they are. Swamp rats trying to stop the government rollback. New trump voters flock to the polls.
Democrats get slaughtered in the midterms and election 2020.
Now that Trump has shown everyone that B-list has in celebrities on the downhill can beat politicians at their own game, 2020 could be a huge clusterfuck.
So, perhaps the best bet for democrats is Trump coming across as the Known Crazy, against some bizarre socialist that manages to pull it off..
Without Trump, it's stupid socialist vs. seemingly reasonable Pence or sub. I would predict an R in that case.
Now that Trump has the last SC nominee practically in the bag, I suspect that impeachment may be the best thing for republicans.
"Without Trump, it's stupid socialist vs. seemingly reasonable Pence or sub. I would predict an R in that case."
Dunno, but sampling the lefty idiocy we find here, it is certainly possible. A certain portion of the population (voters included) continue to fantasize that the government can go out behind the WH and pluck money from the branches of that orchard. Or they hope there are enough 'other people' who can be taxed to give them that free shit.
I'm guessing:
1) That tired piece of shit Hihn thinks the orchard is really there if we wish hard enough.
2) Turd is too stupid to make a choice, as is Tony.
3) Happy idiot goes for the second.
4) The fake rev asshole is ignorant of the alternatives; s/he is so involved in narcissism that reality can be ignored.
Regardless of the specific delusions, it is possible that they could all sort of gather under the banner of "free shit" and take the election.
Or, as you postulate, the electorate could see that idiocy as it is and elect someone else to thumb their nose at the lefties.
Does anybody seriously believe that's the issue?
John Galt Jr|8.21.18 @ 11:40PM|#
"Does anybody seriously believe that's the issue?"
Does anyone other than your goldfish assume you are competent ot post anywhere, you idiot?
Yes, my goldfish is smarter than you. Or more honest. Even my hamster knows that's not the issue. why don't you?
If you believe it will be easy, you should seek help.
That's not even the issue!
Not only was this a witch hunt, mueller gave immunity to Lefties to protect them from prosecution.
It was a put up job. Trump will pardon cohen and manafort. The rest of the Lefties granted immunity will get charged with the other illegal things they did and Trump wont pardon them. Handcuffs for those Lefties.
The first and second members of Congress to endorse Trump have both been indicted now too.
Yeah, and Kennedy's name is spelled with 7 LETTERS!
Do I have to connect the dots for you?!
The roundup has already begun.
Imagine how much better it will go after Democrats regain control of the levers of government.

Watch kirkland's visits drop off after the GOP gains seats in congress and cohen and manafort are pardoned.
The Lefties think they are doing something. The Lefties dont even see the American outrage at Lefties.
If Trump was complicit in crimes or scared, he would just pardon everyone around him so no trials ever happened. Hes letting the Lefties box themselves put of options.
There is no public cooperation agreement, but you wouldn't admit to those crimes if you didn't have a plea agreement with a cooperation agreement set up, or you end up in jail for a decade.
1) There doesn't have to be a cooperation agreement.
2) The plea agreement is with ONLY the Southern District of New York. NOT to Mueller.
Cohen never has to talk to mueller.
1) That's crazy, even for you.
2) He already is
3) That's his ONLY option to avoid spending the rest of his life in jail, at his December sentencing
4) Cohen can not be pardoned for violations of state law.

I went and looked at the Federal Election Commission website for perspective. I downloaded the CSV file of all the fines from 2000 through 2017, from here:
http://www.fec.gov/legal-resou.....fine-cases
I count 3,346 fines the FEC has levied for campaign finance violations over that time period. I don't know how many elected officials have been impeached for violating campaign finance laws, but it's presumably less than 3,346.
I'd expect Trump to be treated in a proportional way. If other officials aren't impeached or aren't removed from office for paying their exes to shut the fuck up using their own money, then I'd expect Trump to be treated the same way.
Maybe he should have to pay a fine.
If Mueller's spent two years investigating the president and only come up with this, then the taxpayers arne't getting their money's worth with this investigation.
How many of those offenses affected the entire country?
He'll be impeached. Mueller has a LOT more.

Bill Clinton managed to beat the Whitewater rap by claiming it was "all about sex".
In Trump's case, this really is all about sex.
I just don't see two-thirds of the senate voting to remove Trump over this--and then turning around and facing the voters.
And I don't see anything of substance coming out of the Russia investigation either.

Context matters,
Here, I merely observed the obvious, that comparing offenses by a County Auditor candidate with a Presidential candidate is .... kinda strange.
Why do you say that a County Auditor is the equivalent of the President of the United States?
Or did you fail to grasp the context?
Almost every FEC action comes with no evidence that a candidate had knowledge or coordinated the violation.
Here there is taped evidence.
I say! At least we got some porn out of the Clinton investigation.
Does this mean the farce is over and we're shutting this costly sour-grapes shitshow down some day soon?
The one with 37 indictments and seven convictions and/or 7 guilty pleas?
(That's the Mueller probe)
Two guilty ones reported just today, while you were in a coma or sumpfing.
Yeah, Mueller is succeeding like HUAC.

What this confirms for me is that Trump isn't all that good at hiring "the best". Cohen must have been a fairly crappy lawyer to end up where he is. Heck, he kept making statements about a secret payoff. Trump and Cohen don't seem to understand that the first rule of secret payoffs is that you don't talk about secret payoffs.
And he must have rolled on Trump in some way. They let him plead pretty quickly. One just wonders if the payoff is the only thing.
Exactly. He's being such a bad lawyer, I can't help but wonder if he's getting a special deal on $4 million in income tax evasion just for being a bad lawyer.
Stupidity explains most of it. In the private sector these guys can get away with this much incompetence and corruption.
Let's put the private sector in charge. --Libertarians
I get it: lawyers plus lobbyists plus campaign managers equal "private sector."
It's funny you think swamp creatures implicate people who do real business, and not the other way around.
Actually, it's just telling.
And to make government less corruptible, we must take away all the anti-corruption rules of course. The private sector brought a far more disgusting swamp with it.
One wonders how many lobbyists entangled with Ukraine we would have, if we had a limited government. Or trade wars. Or border walls.
Clearly it's the free market's fault.
In the private sector these guys can get away with this much incompetence and corruption.
In the private sector people have to make money or they go out of business. If they're incompetent and corrupt, they tend to lose money.
In the public sector people have to spend money or they lose their budget. If they're incompetent and corrupt, they have guaranteed job security.
Let's put the private sector in charge. --Libertarians
Yeah, let's. The private sector weeds out incompetence and corruption, unlike government which rewards it.
Like Trump did, until he was rescued by Deutsche Bank, a convicted money launderer for Russia. They loaned to Trump, as cash, not mortgages, when Trump was the .... worst .... credit .... risk ... in America ... And US banks wouldn't touch him.
Would YOU loan tens of millions to a severe credit risk ... unsecured?
Thing is these sleazeballs do not seem very bright. Manafort was throwing money around like water. There was no way it would not catch up to him eventually. Then he joins a presidential campagn sure to put him under the microscope.
Cohen is just an idiot. Paying off Stormy that close to the election on Trumps orders. Did he not think he was being set up to take the fall if she talked? I have nothing against her but she seems to have some street smarts and hustle.
And Trump, well these are the kind of people and "business" he has always done. I don't think it even occurred to him what being elected President would be like.
Oh, look! Concern troll claiming stuff!

This article should have had a TDS trigger warning on it based on the comments so far. Def for the lefties, but more for the trump supporters.
They knew they voted for a human bucket of sleaze. They knew all along that they were going to have to carry Trump's water through the inevitable scandal(s). So they've been preparing for this moment for months now.
No matter what you may think of Trump, it's still better than letting Hillary slaughter civilians by the thousands, which is what she would likely have done if we had let her get into power.
I don't think much of Trump, less every day (more like every time he opens his mouth). I did vote for him, and unlike many here, I didn't sign up for a "team" and to defend that team at all costs. I plan to hold anyone I vote for to account. Half the people here defend him like Trump is their wife and no matter what stupid shit he does they have to spin it so he isn't in the wrong.
The Hillary stuff is also continually hilarious. The Clinton's are sleazy politicians and I am happy to hopefully see them out of politics for good now (fingers crossed!). But most on this board could be convinced that Hillary severed the heads of thousands of children from a photo of her patting a child on the head, but couldn't even consider Trump to have done any wrong if they watched him do it.
Same double standards with the Mueller probe. I can't tell you how many times I have heard that the Mueller probe has been going on for 2 years and that is way too long etc. Well it got started last May so by my count that is a little over a year. And then in their next breath they want further investigation into Benghazi and the emails...the disconnect. Throw them both in jail, i'll be happy.
Yeah,
That's what bothers me about the Hillary supporters. NONE of them will admit she was a sleazy grifter with absolutely zero accomplishments that owed her success to marrying a sexual predator.
I'd have a little more respect for those that denigrate Trump if they would admit the truth about Hillary.
oh, and Hillary got off because the Republicans aren't serious either.

YES. The Hillary probe ran MORE than twice as long and found ... nothing.
Sessions refuses to appoint a Special Prosecutor for Hillary, saying there's not enough evidence to. PROOF of a Deep State (or some other) conspiracy, by people who REFUSE to accept that Trump WON THE PRESIDENCY!
By 0.03% of the vote,
Racist xenophobes take over LA Times, say they've actually seen a Mexican murder warrant for Joel Arrona Lara - the "arrested while driving his pregnant wife to the hospital" guy.
"Joel Arrona-Lara is wanted in connection with the killing of Miguel ?ngel Morales Rodr?guez, alias 'El Garcia,' according to the arrest warrant, which was provided by a law enforcement official who is not authorized to speak publicly about the case.
"The warrant includes photos of Arrona-Lara, as well as his wife's name and those of his parents."
There are two other alleged killers listed on the warrant.
What's important now is that we get to the bottom of just what in the Hell was Hillary thinking when she was using Android version 6.1.2 when she should have known about the security patch that was installed with version 6.3.4. I mean.., GAAL!!!
I think I may be so traumatized by the severity of her misdeeds and the calamity it brought upon this nation that this post is, in fact, triggering.
I see President Trump's actions as evidence of what a great libertarian leader he really is. I mean, look, he's now an unindicted conspirator. In the good old days before libertarians became Republican jerkoffs brave patriots you literally had to start with being an unindicted conspirator to Get into the LP. President Trump is merely a hard-assed motherfucker ol' Skool libertarian showing us how we used to rock the decks and snort coke before we started to do the Paul Ryan Workout Tape and try to go legit like GayJay. If anyone that voted for Trump is surprise that he paid of paramours, they are truly idiots. I would say less than five per cent of the people that voted for Trump are surprise. He is still better than Hillary.
Better than Stalin as well.
Of every possible republican. Better than Hillary is the best choice.
I voted for the libertarian. No regrets.
He is still better than Hillary.
Talk about a low bar.
^ This.
Better than Hillary is not an excuse for embarrassing and corrupt. The election is over, and he isn't running against her, the hag is gone now she doesn't need to keep haunting everyone's dreams. So we can quit pretending she is somehow the other option here. It isn't keep Trump vs install Hillary-bot as president; its keep trump and look the other way no matter what he does, or keep trump and hold him accountable for being a dimwit when he is a dimwit.
Also he's not better than Hillary unless you're a brain-damaged cousinfucking meth-addled hillbilly freak.
Bigot.
This is a great phase:
Though full disclosure, I read it as the author providing an inadvertant subconscious self-description, so that may add to its appeal.
Yes, it was.
That was the problem.
The Dems insisted on nominating a venal, lying, sexual-predator enabling no-accomplishment grifter rather than a serious candidate.
And the media was on-board with it, after they had dumped her 8 years earlier in favor of a better "historic" story.
Basically, the Republicans decided to nominate a smash-mouth buffoon in response.
2016 was a sad commentary on the state of the American Republic.
That said Trump was probably what was needed as the left/media/dems are exposing themselves as the twisted hypocrites they are.
But it matters little as the Republic is already dead - it is just a matter of how long it takes to fall over now.
Dems had a slam dunk and not only did they miss, they tripped, fell on their face, and shit their pants.
It's tough when the choice is between a no-accomplishment sexual predator enabler vs a no accomplishment sexual predator.
Truly was a sad state of affairs for the 2016 election and a sad commentary on our republic. Here's to hoping we have a good choice on either side next time.
Trump is a Republican. NOW.
The big question is why he didn't just have his personal secretary cut a check from his personal bank account, after paying Cohen from his personal account for lining it up... I really don't see how Cohen cutting a check before being reimbursed is substantially different from doing the above, which apparently would be perfectly legal. I mean, businesses are allowed to bill after the fact for services rendered...
That's what Trump did, bit he stfetched it out over several months at $35,000, calling it a legal espense. Intent tp decieve.
Today, he said that it's not a campaigb finance violation unless it's from camoaign money ... again proving how fucking stupid he is.
1) Thinks only candidates can violate campaign finance law.
2) No offesem he "thinks" if I spend 10 million of my own dollars to buy the mere 39,000 voters that provided his Electoral margin, in three states combined, 0.03% of the vote.
Now, please explain why you and your Exalted Leader "think" it would have been legal for me to do it.
P.S. Cohen's tape shows Trump clearly directing Cohen to make the McDougal bribe.
Check his tweets tomorrow, for more mind control.
Surely a libertarian site would opine that a legal contract, paying someone to do something for you, in this case shut up, with your own funds can't possibly violate a law.
Right? Oh wait it's Reason

"I just signed a contract to kill you and gang rape your wife."
It can't possibly be an initiation of force if the government were to do it, and that government includes elected officials, right?
By your own reckoning, Hihn, Trump is unable to initiate force or violate rights, because he was elected.
By name is Galt, and that's just your first blunder.
1) WHOOOSH
2) Bat-shit crazy
Your turn. Why is it legal to use personal funds to influence.an elections. Why do you say I could have legally spent $2 million to buy the 39,000 voters who provided Trump's electoral margin, 0.03% of the vote>
Did leaking that Access Hollywood tape constitute infuencing an election?
DIVERSION
"By name is Galt, and that's just your first blunder."
Your name is Hihn, Hihn.
"1) WHOOOSH
2) Bat-shit crazy"
Appeal to ridicule.
"Your turn. Why is it legal to use personal funds to influence.an elections."
I'm not defending Trump. I'm pointing out you are wrong.
Also, the State (what I've been calling "government") is twice an initiation of force, and those who try to purchase its power are almost always going to use it to initiate even more force. So no, I won't defend them.
If you have a point, do it without using fallacies. If you must use fallacies, you look wrong even if you're right.
Hihn, you keep saying that the State cannot violate rights because it's elected. If so, then Trump is elected, and cannot violate rights. Correct or incorrect?
Cowardly evasion.
And lies about what I said
Hihn, just stop the charade, OK? Everyone knows it's you.
"Cowardly evasion."
No, a true statement.
"And lies about what I said."
Can an elected government violate your rights or not? You've said many times it cannot, so in order to say that it can you'd have to say you were wrong, which would be unprecedented.
PROVEN lie and evasion followed by diversion. An-Caps
Stalker. Aggression.
Repeating your fallacy is another fallacy, proof by assertion.
Learn to read as wreckinball wrote 'legal contract'.
Murder being illegal, any contract governing it would also be illegal.
Idiot
Lean to think
1) It was NOT a legal contract,
2) Why else would Trump and Giuliani both lie about it, 3-4 different versions each.
No response needed,
(cannot stifle uproarious laughter)
Anything else.
Live by governmental power, die by governmental power.
The most legitimate* use of governmental force is against those who wield governmental force.
(*That doesn't imply it's "good", just that it's the least illegitimate.)
That's called a Civil War, When government uses force against itself.
No, Hihn, it's called a civil war when government uses force against it's own people, and they fight it.
That being said, the most just thing to be done against a government aggressor is to have the government aggress against them. It's not just justice, it's poetic justice as well.
Same fuckup ... rephrased!
An-caps are among the stupidest people on earth
They babble and drool about initiation of force and justifiable defense. , but THIS one says that a response to aggression is ... AGGRESSION!
And he's got the government committing aggression against itself!
(having been called out -- again -- he will change his stort -- again)
"THIS one says that a response to aggression is ... AGGRESSION!"
That is a response, though it's still not good, it's just less bad. Is it not poetic justice to be destroyed by the monster you used to destroy others?
The rest of your post is an Ad Hominem attack.
Aggressor claims to defend the Non-Aggression Principle ....
Aggressor does not know what aggression is.
Aggressor, called out, defends his screwup!
For any other crazy an-caps, an An-Cap SOURCE!
DEFENSE IS NOT AGGRESSION
MUST I DEFINE "INITIATE" ALSO???
Why such raging hatred for Hihn?
Hihn, you're not doing well hiding your ID.
I don't hate you, Hihn. I hate errors, lies, and stupidity.
Is it poetic justice to be destroyed by the monster you tried to use against others or not?
"If you set a trap for others, you will get caught in it yourself. If you roll a boulder down on others, it will crush you instead." Proverbs 26:27 NLT

MisesWiki proves you a psycho liar.
I prove you a stakling aggressor,
"MisesWiki proves you a psycho liar."
Please show me where.
"I prove you a stakling aggressor,"
Telling the truth is neither stalking nor aggressing. The State on the other hand...
Hey, Hihn, perhaps next time you should check which sign in you're using before you post next time!
Somehow, I don't think that the left wingers who are dancing in the streets today are going to enjoy the Pence administration...
-jcr
Pence would be worse, but on different issues. He's Christian Taliban, gold plated.
But a Democrat House would rein him in.
And Kavanaugh has already bailed on Roe v Wade, so ,... do the math.
"to silence them about sexual liasions."
Or, it would be much more like Reason to say:
"Contracted with them to agree to non-disclosure of certain extramarital affairs carried on with Trump."
I am becoming increasingly irritated when Libertarian and Conservative sources report that a woman was "silenced" by being paid off.
I grow increasingly irritated when Proggies say that Burger King was "paid to feed me" when I ,.... paid them to feed me.
