"This Is a Great Idea": Consolidate Cabinet-Level Departments
The Trump administration is right to push the streamlining various parts of the executive branch.

Last night, I appeared on Fox Business's Kennedy to discuss the Trump administration's plans to consolidate the Department of Education and Department of Labor into a single operation, move food stamps (SNAP) out of the Department of Agriculture and into Health & Human Services, and related ideas.
Overall, these are generally good ideas and definitely worth thinking through. We often think of cabinet-level agencies as part of the natural landscape, but they change all the time. Education didn't become its own department until 1979 (Ronald Reagan promised to kill it but instead increased its funding), Veterans Affairs was added in 1989, and Homeland Security only in 2002.
Here's the segment:

Much better idea. Eliminate both, and fire the employees.
Something about orbit.
You mean the chewing gum?
Can this be his PATCO moment?
And just who, pray tell, is going to oversee the consolidation of departments? We'll need a Department of Redundancy Department for that task.
And a similar department to back them up.
Consolidate them all and call it the Dept of Generating Outrage
Get for the jugular: Department of Donald Trump.
It's gonna be the classiest department, believe me.
Nominate Andrew Clay to lead it. Just because.
It'll be the biggest. The best!
DDT -- excellent!
DOE (Department of Everything)
One might hope that this was the first step in a maneuver to go through the records to both Departments, and prove that neither has done anything useful in at least three decades. Rather than fight over firing the drones that 'work' for the Departments, put them on permanent paid leave until retirement, sell or rent the office space they use, and close out the budgets other than salaries and benefits costs.
*sigh*
I can dream, can't I?
Whatever happened to "Czars"?
Ask the Bolsheviks.
Or the Mensheviks.
They'll tell you to ask the Bolshies.
They're *all* dead, so there.
when i visiting this site I found cool and interesting here keep sharing kindly check it out what is busybox
It's a floor wax *and* a dessert topping!
A high volume hooker?
Education needs to be protected year by year, also improved because technology demands it. If we support certain education-related ideas only when there are electoral campaigns, the issue of population education will be exactly like the problem of foot callus (making a parallel to what they I am doing now).
I agree, it's a good step in the right direction.
A *goose* step, amirite?

My Goodness, Reason not attacking a Trump idea. And there are good ideas. Why is a cheese pizza under a different jurisdiction that a pepperoni pizza? Why aren't food stamps with other welfare programs other than to give gravitas to the Farm Bill (are we still subsidizing Mohair)?
Reason has been so anti-Trump lately, I was surprised they actually applauded what is a great concept to DIE IN THE HALLS OF CONGRESS. Sadly, doesn't changes in the authority of various executive branch functions require the approval of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck you Schumer?
If not, full steam ahead.
"(Ronald Reagan promised to kill it but instead increased its funding)"
Never miss a chance to slander Reagan, Nicky boy!! Sucks that he kicked off two and a half decades of unprecedented prosperity, doesn't it? Really sticks in your craw, eh?
How have the cocktail parties been lately, Nick, you fuck?
Reagan did quadruple staff and budget at State over 8 years.
