Donald Trump Is Driving Ann Coulter Insane
Maybe she'll move to Mexico if he implements a guest worker program
Donald Trump is the poster child for the primacy of recency – or endorsing the last thing that someone said to him. And he did it again during his

rally in Macomb County, Michigan last week. Evidently, as he was flying into town on Air Force One, members of the Michigan delegation, particularly State Republican representative Paul Mitchell, impressed upon him how the nation-wide labor shortage was hurting Michigan ag and they really needed a guest worker program.
Right on cue, after first regaling the audience with the need for the Great Wall of Trump to make America's borders strong, Trump abruptly pivoted and talked about letting more guest workers in, leaving the audience mighty confused, my friend and former Detroit News colleague Henry Payne reports.
(Here's a rough transcript of his speech. Check the 33-minute-mark of this video.)
For the farmers, OK, it is going to get good. We are going to let your guest-workers come in…We have to have your workers come in. The unemployment picture is so good, so strong. We have to let people come in. They are going to be guest workers. They're going to work on your farms. We are going to have a lot of things happening. Then they have to go out. We are going to let them in because you need them. You need them. They'll come on H-2Bs. And then they'll leave. In Wisconsin, I was very instrumental in getting FoxConn to come. A good friend of mine and a great guy. They make a lot of that Apple IPhones. They are incredible and incredible company. They are building a fantastic plan. It is under construction now. They are recruiting and getting people. They are doing it professionally. We need people to be able to come in to our country, do your jobs, help you on the farms…Guestworkers….Don't we agree. We have to have it happen.
Now, if the president were serious about implementing a guest worker program, he could draw on Reason's copious work on the subject. Indeed, as I and others at Reason have written numerous times, scrapping the 1965 bracero program with Mexico sowed the seeds for America's unauthorized population because it took away the main avenue for hooking up willing workers with willing employers. And implementing a new and improved version of that program is the bestest, cheapest and freedom-friendliest way to stop illegal entries and truly secure the border—not misguided walls.
But of course every time Trump sounds semi-sane on the subject, Ann Coulter goes totally insane. That's not surprising for someone who once said that she wouldn't care if Trump performed abortions in the White House so long as he implemented his plan to conduct mass deportations and restrict future immigration. She instantly lit into Trump:
The president needs to understand, unless he drops his bizarre and totally uncharacteristic desire to bring in people to do your job, the voters might just bring in someone else to do his.
The plus side of the midterm elections is that liberals have gone mad. The minus side is that voters intensely hate Republicans. Liberal insanity is not going to save a GOP dead set on pleasing the donor class by screwing over ordinary Americans. As usual.
It was hatred for Republicans that drove millions of voters to Trump in the first place.
The same conservative talking heads who think the GOP is going to be fine by focusing on those great tax cuts —we'll get to immigration soon, promise!—spent the first six months of Trump's candidacy indignantly informing us that he was "not a Republican."
They said it was "unhealthy" for the party to be debating mass deportations. Trump "hasn't really stood for Republican things." The "summer of Trump" would come to a quick and deserved end. The danger, standard-GOP conservatives told us, was what Trump's candidacy "can do to the GOP brand…
The cowardly GOP was too terrified of the media to ever run on any awesome issues. Only Trump did, and, for that reason, nothing could stop him.
But now he seems to think he can win the midterms by hewing to the loser wing of the Republican Party. We've got to save the GOP "brand"! What does Marc Short say? RUN ON TAX CUTS!
Yeah, that'll do it.
No, starving the economy of its most precious resource—human talent and grit—will do it, Ann.
Liberals said they'll move to Canada if Trump got elected. Will she move to Cancun if Trump implements a guest worker program with Mexico? Canada is no doubt no option for her given the saccahrine Trudeau!

There are two subjects; legal immigration, and criminal border crossing. On the subject of legal immigration, Trump is advocating for a guest worker increase. On the subject of criminal border crossing, Trump is in favor of barricades. Only a screaming progressive would pretend that those two positions on two distinct policies are a flip flop on a single issue.
Ann Coulter is a progressive?
She is if there's money in it.
No, she's not. What an absurd thing to say.
No, all it takes is someone who's been paying attention - that from the Trumpist point of view, ALL immigration represents a threat to the purity of essence of America. Doesn't matter much if it's legal or illegal, temporary or permanent. They're stealing jobs that are supposedly entitled to go to Americans, and they import shithole cultures which will supposedly turn America into a third-world dystopia.
WHITE NATIONALISM MEANS CLEANSING THE COUNTRY OF ALL UNDESIRABLE RACES!
I'm pretty much an open borders kind of guy, but the idea that opposition to Mexican immigration is an exclusively "white" thing is pretty hilarious. Have you ever talked to any black folks on the subject? How about Cuban Americans? The dirty little secret is that white people are the least racist group in the U.S.
I think we're already at the last resort, where Trumpists turn America into a third-world dystopia just to show the mexicans we can do it first.
that from the Trumpist point of view, ALL immigration represents a threat to the purity of essence of America.
Eh... errr.... sure, there are some who are anti-immigration like Coulter. But Trump's position has always been to bring in immigrants with intent... paying attention to skills and following a legal process. It might sound incoherent to people that use the word "dog whistle", but if you filter through the 5th grade vocabulary and rhetoric, Trump's position is reasonably close to the bipartisan consensus that can never get passed because the Democrats would rather have the issue (so they can brand people racists) and both parties would rather have a raft of illegal workers to suppress wages.
Bush tried to fix this and never even got a whiff of support from Democrats.
When they say they are pro-immigrant, they are just flat lying. They are pro-permanent underclass and poverty-stricken Team D voter.
Why else would Obama issue forth a call for underage illegal immigrants to flood the country? Meanwhile, he was the deportation king. They just want a political issue so they can score points with Hispanics and label their opponents as a racist "other".
They don't even really pretend otherwise. It is only in their messaging and their shills in the press who claim any different.
Well put.
Jeff, you're an idiot. No 'Trumpist' is saying that. You just cry and pout because you aren't going to get your open borders bullshit.
Even though, in principal, it is possible to support deporting all illegal immigrants while simultaneously wanting to massively increase legal immigration, in practice it's rare. Most people who want more border enforcement also want less legal immigration, and most people who want less border enforcement want more legal immigration. So it's a natural assumption to make.
The same logic is why all my classmates in high school assumed I smoked pot.
Exactly. Why would anyone think Trump opposes guest worker programs? It's not like he railed against them during the campaign: http://www.breitbart.com/big-g.....ys-puppet/
Yeah, the combination boils down to legalizing immigration, which is the libertarian position.
Re: Longtobefree,
The distinction is meaningless when you consider that Trumpistas don't want either. Tom Cotton, Perdue and the utterly racist Coulter (*) made that very clear.
And people don't "criminally" cross a border. Only a screaming Trumpista Fascist would pretend that omnipotent State gets to say what criminal behavior should be like.
(*) Which she proved unequivocally during an episode of the Stossel show on Fox Business.
"And people don't "criminally" cross a border. Only a screaming Trumpista Fascist would pretend that omnipotent State gets to say what criminal behavior should be like."
Ridiculous statement. People have different opinions and to pretend yours is the only legitimate one is zealotry.
"Donald Trump Is Driving Ann Coulter Insane"
She was already kinda loopy to start with. Didn't she date Bill Maher once?
She also dated Jimmie 'DY-NO-MITE' Walker.
Google it.
You got ap problem with that PB? You progressives are pretty racist.
-er.
As the saying goes, only Nixon could go to China.

I get it Shika, if they started seriously deporting illiterate, unskilled 3rd worlders from America you'd be on the chopping block so you can't have that.
The fact is immigration activists lie about everything so anything that looks like it's being driven by compromise (well capitulation actually) gets taken as a scam. If activists like you are going to assume bad faith in all opposition then why shouldn't their opponents do likewise.
The reality is there are trade-offs to be made that nobody wants to admit. Too many immigrants with generous welfare benefits throughout society and we overburden workers with the tax bill. Not enough immigration and yes we starve sectors of the economy for labor willing to work effectively at that price. Ultimately it shouldn't be up to 3rd parties who can work for you but if you're going to manage every aspect of the economy then you will get pushback from those that feel they are on the short end of any particular deal.
Meh, I prefer more diversity visas and/or reciprocity visas, but I won't fight a guest worker program. Just let me offer a few critics. Why limit it to Mexico in this age of cheap international flights? Why do we need farms in Michigan? An indoor farm in New Jersey grows 100 times the crops per acre as traditional farms. That means New Jersey can have the equivalent of more than 5 Californias worth of farms. New Jersey has plenty of homeless people looking for work and plenty of workers moving food from a restaurant kitchen to the restaurant table. We don't have a labor shortage. We have mismanagement in the farming sector.
"We have mismanagement in the farming sector."
The General Secretary/Supreme Leader will fix this in the next five-year plan. We will shoot the Kulaks and the reactionary counter-revolutionary commissars who are betraying the people and appoint pure party loyalists in their place.
If he implements?
Mar-a-Lago already is a guest worker program.
No worries for Ann Coulter fans, though -- she's all talk.
You'd give her a fine hate-fuck though, wouldn't you Artie?
Did someone convene a meeting of Libertarians For Bigoted, Authoritarian Immigration Policies around here?
I have little taste for a barren, bottle-blonde, hateful, mini-skirted, "traditional values," vote-frauding spinster whose time on the carousel has included service as a Guccione girltoy and on Dinesh D'Souza's arm.
She seems to be a wingnut dreamgirl, though.
Not that I know of. But I'll be happy to chair the committee.
" barren, bottle-blonde, hateful, mini-skirted, "traditional values," vote-frauding spinster"
Why is misogynist language like this acceptable among liberals? Why are they free to slutify any woman they
disagree with? I'm honestly baffled. The Rev. is an asshole as we all know. But this shit is pervasive in the world of the Woke.

Amusing from the guy who chairs the Dim-Bulb Troll Association.
Why are you giving her attention?
This has the makings of a celebrity death match.
I would love to see Annie beat the shit out of Shikia.
Jobs belong to employers, you Communist cunt.
More federalism, more democracy. Stop expecting the federal government to fix everything and tell everyone across a very diverse country how to live.
Why not start delegating some of these powers down to the states to let them hash through these problems at a more local level? If Michigan needs workers, let their politicians put their necks on the chopping block but instituting it in their state instead of pushing responsibility off of themselves and having the Fed carry their water for them.
Short trip
They can save gas and just jog a couple blocks.
More like from the garage to the curb.
I'd like to see that skinny bitch pick some tomatoes for a day.
I would like it if you would just get it over with and drink your Drano.
they do jobs that americans won't do. At $7 hr? At 12 hr? At 18 Hr? At 24 hr? At 36 hr?
Actually, there's more truth to it than you'd think.
I don't have any recent experience with farm workers, but in construction there are lots of areas where illegals command much higher wages than many legal workers in other areas. While youngsters are having trouble finding work and eschewing a buck or two above minimum wage in service sector jobs at restaurants, there are plenty of jobs around here in construction that they aren't taking at 3 times the minimum wage.
It certainly seems that people are expressing preferences against doing certain types of work, even at a wage premium.
And there are a lot of jobs that don't exist at a hypothetical $30 per hour, because the price people will pay for the end product is less than the cost of labor at that point.
Around here pool cleaning and yard work are big employers. They pay above minimum wage, but not much above, because demand is very elastic while the price is very inelastic, and people just won't pay if it isn't pretty cheap. Meanwhile, drywall hangers and framers get paid good money, because there is a lot more margin in construction right now.
I have a buddy who recently moved to Atlanta to run construction sites for big apartment complexes. Atlanta has a very large African American population, and there are areas where low wages and unemployment are a big problem.
He has lots of bilingual managers on his job sites, because there are sectors (like drywall) where most of the labor is spanish-speaking immigrants. African-Americans are underrepresented in the labor pool, particularly adjusting for the income and unemployment rates in that community. And there are no jobs paying minimum wage anywhere around the jobsites.
You'd think that labor demand would suck up all of the local low-skilled unemployed before drawing in people from thousands of miles away, but it doesn't seem to work that way. There is some other inertia that keeps people from taking those jobs.
Are mass deprations some sort of Lutheran liturgical observance?
So recent tweets and that quote of his. Does he have alzheimers or something? He is losing coherency. Unable to form full sentences. Not saying he's there, but the press was insinuating during Reagan's time in office when Reagan could talk rings around Trump. But no one dares utter the unthinkable about Trump.
