Gage Skidmore / Flickr.com Rep. Adam B. Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, has accused the committee's Republican chair, Rep. Devin Nunes, of secretly altering the so-called Nunes memo, which alleges FBI surveillance abuses, before giving the memo to the White House.
- The FBI says it has "grave concerns" about the accuracy of the Nunes memo.
- The Polish Senate has passed a bill that would make it illegal to make accusations of complicity in the Holocaust against Polish people.
- The U.S. Olympic Committee reportedly knew about sexual-abuse allegations against Larry Nassar as early as 2015.
- Mark Corallo, former spokesman for President Donald Trump's legal team, is reportedly planning to tell Special Counsel Robert Mueller "about a previously undisclosed conference call with Mr. Trump and Hope Hicks, the White House communications director, according to the three people. Mr. Corallo planned to tell investigators that Ms. Hicks said during the call that emails written by Donald Trump Jr. before the Trump Tower meeting — in which the younger Mr. Trump said he was eager to receive political dirt about Mrs. Clinton from the Russians — 'will never get out.' That left Mr. Corallo with concerns that Ms. Hicks could be contemplating obstructing justice, the people said."
- Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials say the actor Robert Wagner is a "person of interest" in the investigation into the 1981 death of actor Natalie Woods. Wagner and Woods were married at the time of her death.

comRep. Adam B. Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, has accused the committee's Republican chair, Rep. Devin Nunes, of secretly altering the so-called Nunes memo, which alleges FBI surveillance abuses, before giving the memo to the White House.
He's a material changer in a material world.
Hello.
I'm starting to hate everyone in this FBI story (enough already) and the Nassar travesty.
Yeah, all those women Nassar molested sure are the worst.
I hope you're being facetious because you know damn well what I meant.
Sure, but that's not what you wrote.
Then you're just being a smart alec for its own sake.
Man you guys are tedious when you want to be.
Hello.
Are you new here?
He just called you out Crusty. Thank poutine for this Canadian decoder ring I got at Tim Horton's.
The FBI says it has "grave concerns" about the accuracy of the Nunes memo.
I have grave concerns about the accuracy of their grave concerns.
Seth Rich's grave, maybe.
The Polish Senate has passed a bill that would make it illegal to make accusations of complicity in the Holocaust against Polish people.
But it's still legal there to put screen doors on your submarines.
How many Poles does it take to demonstrate the Streisand Effect?
secretly altering the so-called Nunes memo, which alleges FBI surveillance abuses, before giving the memo to the White House.
Flying over this in my soapbox plane, its nice to see the fog lift and the camps begin to take shape.
Hollywood will soon release MINORITY REPORT II -- THE WRATH OF THE LEFT
starring Adam Schiff as himself
PeeWee Herman as Devin Nunes
Wolf Blitzer as Carter Page
Chelsea Manning as Lisa Page (no relation to Carter)
Nicolas Cage as Peter Strzok (hard to get significant movie roles anymore and he doesn't object to kissing
Chelsea)
Elizabeth Warren as a Native Guatemalan dreamer hated by racist conservatives
Joe Kennedy III in a cameo appearance as the personification of white privilege
Forgot to mention Stormy Daniels as Ninochka, as the Russian handler who seduces Wolf Blitzer
The U.S. Olympic Committee reportedly knew about sexual-abuse allegations against Larry Nassar as early as 2015.
The Catholic Church wants everyone to know it was in the dark on this one.
No, never say the Catholic Church was "in the dark", it raises questions of what they're doing there in the dark. Better say they were "immaculately innocent of any knowledge of the matter".
Mr. Corallo planned to tell investigators that Ms. Hicks said during the call that emails written by Donald Trump Jr. before the Trump Tower meeting ? in which the younger Mr. Trump said he was eager to receive political dirt about Mrs. Clinton from the Russians ? 'will never get out.'
On the one hand, making this into a confusing mess so that the no one is clear on what the underlying bad behavior is seems smart. On the other hand, was any of the alleged underlying bad behavior all that bad?
Seems to me the American people's primary concern here should be that there was political dirt on Mrs. Clinton, regardless of the source.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials say the actor Robert Wagner is a "person of interest" in the investigation into the 1981 death of actor Natalie Woods. Wagner and Woods were married at the time of her death.
I am really looking forward to the leaked audio of Christopher Walken's testimony.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials say the actor Robert Wagner is a "person of interest" in the investigation into the 1981 death of actor Natalie Woods. Wagner and Woods were married at the time of her death.
When Robert Wagner, Natalie Wood and Chris Walken met, it was murder!
Moidah!
Fun fact - Max was blacklisted for years until he got that part. Bit of a pinko, I think. But damn I loved that show. In your face rich bitches, solving a murder every week in style...
I had no idea Lionel Stander's part was recast with Tevye the Milkman.
That left Mr. Corallo with concerns that Ms. Hicks could be contemplating obstructing justice, the people said.
Is it criminal to not want to advertise how the sausage is made?
I have noticed a shifting of the narrative (again). Over the last several days, several analysts and commentators have reported or opined that Mueller would be finding something on Trump ... adding this.... "if not criminal or collusion, then politically damaging.". They are convinced that he will keep digging until he can report something damaging.
Since it is coming from a lot of different sources who all seem to be speaking with an insider's insight, I'm going to speculate that they are hearing from people associated with the investigation in some way.
So we've moved from "investigating Russian interference in the election" to "collusion with the Russians" to "obstruction of justice" to "politically damaging" stuff.
And we must protect the FBI from criticism at all costs?
"if not criminal or collusion, then politically damaging."
They admit that the "investigation" is a farce because it is political in nature. The mask is off.
It is more than political. If it weren't, they would have taken the fig leaf Trump offered after the election. These people reek of desperation. They screwed up badly and they know it.
Why else would Mueller stack his team with the same people who are implicated in much of this mess? Because it is their last stand. Desperation.
Also, did anyone catch that Melania gave Michelle a frame as a gift when they moved into the White House? FLOTUS is savage.
What's Savage about that?
Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials say the actor Robert Wagner is a "person of interest" in the investigation into the 1981 death of actor Natalie Woods.
Quick, someone MeToo him.
I can't believe they got Chachi now. Is nothing sacred?!
He was a Trumpeter. It was inevitable.
Good point.
Rose McGowan on Alyssa Milano, Meryl Streep and her thoughts of the Hollywood system that she says enabled Weinstein

This is like the ultimate "I hate everyone in this story".

This is the plot to a million hentai comics.
Or the next Dan Brown book.
Not the SEC you thought of.
I'm trying to keep straight here which "high-ranking anonymous sources familiar with the matter" we're supposed to trust are giving us the straight dope and which ones are lying shitweasels trying to spin alternative facts to their own nefarious ends.
Chisel that into the side of the Washington Monument.
As we prepare to celebrate 'Black Panther,' let's not forget 'Blade'
Did they let blacks into MLB yet?
"You made a goddamn vampire Pomeranian?"
--Van Wilder
Yeah, Blade 1 and 2 are great. But, a lot of people seem to care more about having a momentous first black superhero movie than they care about being correct.
The whole #ReleaseTheMemo saga is incredibly dumb. If the roles were reversed it would be Republicans saying the memo was a cynical strategy to deflect attention away from a legitimate investigation, and Democrats attacking the FBI.
Right, everybody needs to get back to their traditional roles.
Aaaand now the totally non-leftist chemjeff is minimizing the memo about Democrat FISA abuse. In lock step with the last-ditch strategy being employed by the leftist media.
But no, he's just a libertarian who happens to agree with the left about suppressing information about government abuse of power!
LABEL THAT MOTHERFUCKER! LABEL HIM!
Shut up, commie.
Ride in, foul knight, ride in
Yea and verily shalt thou chastise us for being insufficiently woke!
Who next wilt thou defend, o simpleton? Is there some great warrior of social justice who desperately needs your insipid drooling help, as you ride in with all the grace and nobility of an exploding anal cyst?
Hey you stupid fucking dipshit, when the roles WERE reversed back in the '70s, the republican in congress told Nixon that he had no real choice but to resign.
Neither party is the same they were then. You could easily make a point that it's impossible to know how the situation reversed would be. But saying 50 years ago something different happened is at least as iffy as what ChemJeff said.
Instagram Is Turning Into Facebook, and That's Bad
My God.
Instagram Is Turning Into Facebook, and That's Bad
My God.
Crusty is turning into squirrel bait, and that's indifferent at best.
I'll bait your squirrel.
Now i feel kinda nauseous.
My [squirrel] Gods.
I can't even. Get past the paywall, that is.
I'm happy to say that I don't know what any of that means
Does it help to note that Facebook is turning into Tumblr, which is turning into Friendster?
"The FBI says it has 'grave concerns' about the accuracy of the Nunes memo."
Now Trump's hand-picked FBI director Christopher Wray has joined the deep state too. They already got his other appointees at DOJ, Rod Rosenstein and Steven Boyd. The deep state's plotting against Trump just can't be stopped!
Wray feels his job is to protect the legend that is the FBI. Its not.
Wray was an Assistant US Attorney, so he was already exposed to the good 'ol boys club and he was invited in.
Plus, Wray could want to further his own political aspirations an that would be stifled if the FBI fell apart on his watch or because of him. Wray is a Yale man and was assigned to the DOJ during W. Bush's presidency. The Bush DOJ agreed that US torturing people was constitutional, so anyone from that era should never work in government service again.
Comey was a shitbag and there are many more shitbags at the FBI. The DOJ is full of them.
You've nailed it. They're all out to get Trump!
Within the Justice Department and the FBI, the firing of Comey has left raw anger, and some fear, according to multiple officials. Thomas O'Connor, the president of the FBI Agents Association, called Comey's firing "a gut punch. We didn't see it coming, and we don't think Director Comey did anything that would lead to this.''
Many employees said they were furious about the firing, saying the circumstances of his dismissal did more damage to the FBI's independence than anything Comey did in his three-plus years in the job.
One intelligence official who works on Russian espionage matters said they were more determined than ever to pursue such cases. Another said Comey's firing and the subsequent comments from the White House are attacks that won't soon be forgotten. Trump had "essentially declared war on a lot of people at the FBI," one official said. "I think there will be a concerted effort to respond over time in kind."
Any chance WaPo will be unmasking the particular anonymous official who made that last remark?
I never mentioned Trump at all.
We know that you have TDS. You cannot help mentioning Trump in every conversation.
Billions in free publicity!
Wray would lose the FBI if he failed to at least whine about the release of embarrassing, and potentially head-rolling, information which he knows he can't stop anyway.
Actions speak louder than words. He shitcanned McCarthy over what was discovered.
And how can a supposed libertarian be in favor of covering up information about FISA abuse? Look in the mirror.
Actions do speak louder than words. So why did Nunes help push through the FISA reauthorization, which significant expands the program and adds no new oversight, just a few weeks ago even though he thinks the FBI is abusing it for political ends?
Move the goalposts much? I'm not playing your game.
My theory is that Wray, as the leader of the FBI, has to show he is willing to stand up for his people and his department.
If he is part of the all out assault on the FBI, no one will trust him, and the FBI will become even more dysfunctional.
Clearly it couldn't be that the memo is actually inaccurate.
Best way to find out is to release it first.
Again, how can you claim to be a libertarian and support suppressing information about govt abuse?
I'm for releasing the memo, and the counter-memo, and all of the documents they are relying on, at the same time.
In principle I would be chill with that too.
The source docs are unlikely to ever be released because they probably reveal sources and methods. Not sure what the rationale for not releasing the "counter memo" is... it wouldn't at all surprise me if Schiff inserted a bunch of classified stuff in there that he knew would be rejected, so he could cry oppression.
The so-called 'counter-memo' will almost certainly be released as well after it goes through the same process the other is going through.
Is it potentially pretty stupid to vette a memo in such a way? Perhaps. We won't really know though until they release them. Not that I really give a shit either way, since everyone involved has a personal axe to grind so regardless we're going to need to take both memoranda with an entire salt mine.
Tom Brady's water habit could kill an ordinary person
I'm an extraordinary person, so I have nothing to worry about, but the rest of you losers take heed.
Brady is football's answer to Gwyneth Paltrow.
Go Eagles.
Seriously.
You seriously think the "winner" of the Superbowl wasn't decided a long time ago?
Fuck that shit. Go unexpected meteor strike.
Go Eagles. But everything saturating the Philly media is telling us how loose the team is, how they are binding with each other, blah blah blah. I'm afraid all it means is they will come out tight as a drum and fall behind 14-0 before the first commercial.
they misspelled "bullshit".
Sometimes I think I'm the most hydrated person in the world...
Natalie Wood disagrees.
shweet!
"Drink at least one-half of your body weight in ounces of water every day,"
I'm assuming this means drink one-half your body weight (as measured in pounds) in ounces of water. A 200 pound man drinking 100 ounces of water is not a big deal, a 3200 ounce man attempting to drink 1600 ounces of water is ridiculous. And dead. And nowhere near "37 glasses of water" a la Tom "Tiny Hands" Brady.
Which, the "glasses of water" thing - are we talking 2 ounce liqueur glasses or 64 ounce Big Gulp tubs? A "glass" is not a unit of measure and anything I've ever found on how many glasses of water per day you should be drinking references an 8 ounce glass, which is a "cup", a "cup" being an actual unit of measure. 37 cups of water per day for a professional athlete sweating his ass off on a hot practice field? Doesn't sound the least bit odd to me. I've done roofing work in Georgia in August.
Is this yahoo literally pissing all over the field as he plays? When I drink an extreme amount of water like a gallon, unless I'm out in 100 degrees I'm having to pee all the time.
"I am shocked that after the Vice President worked for almost a year in a divisive and partisan way to take healthcare away from almost 200,000 West Virginians, bankrupt our hospitals, and push tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and huge corporations that he would come to West Virginia and continue his partisan attacks," Manchin said in a statement. "The Vice President's comments are exactly why Washington sucks."
I don't know why you low-life shithead bastards don't like me.
Manchin learned all his persuasive techniques from Tony, apparently.
Interesting. He was clapping so hard at the SOTU that I thought his hands were going to explode.
Dramatic reenactment
This is why it's so important to do things more carefully.
I have to give him moral credit, of a sort, for being a gun grabber. That can't be at all popular in West Virginia. Whatever you want to say about it, it's principled. On that at least, he must be a true believer and not an opportunist. Like some perverse inversion of John Dingell.
When has he grabbed guns?
He's actually been OK on his individual votes on most issues but has to go because he supports the Dem leadership when push comes to shove.
Sure wasn't called "Moore Capito-Toomey."
Rep. Adam B. Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, has accused the committee's Republican chair, Rep. Devin Nunes, of secretly altering the so-called Nunes memo, which alleges FBI surveillance abuses, before giving the memo to the White House.
It's sad how desperate and pathetic people can get when they know they royally fucked up and are in deep shit.
When you find yourself in a hole, quit digging bitches.
Whoa, Mikey coming out against Nunes outta nowhere.
Mikey also says to "quit digging bitches." Now, maybe that's just a missing comma - Mikey's not very smart, and communication is not easy for him. However, it's hard to read that as anything other than a plea for more dudes to stop being into women. Maybe your comment would make just as much sense with the "against Nunes" removed.
Points.
Wow, another "libertarian" supporting the suppression of information about govt abuse.
I get being anti-Trump, indeed most days I am too, but this issue should transcend that.
Wait, I'm reading this like Schiff is making insane accusations because he's the one that royally fucked up; that actually seems more plausible in this gong show
That's what's fun about the whole thing - it's impossible to tell!
Dig up, stupid.
The Polish Senate has passed a bill that would make it illegal to make accusations of complicity in the Holocaust against Polish people.
Some Poles helped Germans hunt down, capture, torture, and kill undesirables in Poland during WWII.
Ooops, I guess I would be in violation of that Polish law. Goo thing we have the 1st Amendment here in the USA.
No, you wouldn't.
The law is about saying that there were Polish death camps--as in death camps run by poles. Death camps approved of by the Polish government. There weren't.
There were Nazi Death camps IN Poland.
Like that.
Rep. Adam B. Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, has accused the committee's Republican chair, Rep. Devin Nunes, of secretly altering the so-called Nunes memo,
This all reeks of desperation. That thing better get released, and soon. I mean, can't the president "declassify" anything he wants or is there some rule governing declassification?
I think the information has to be stored on the president's handpicked successor's unsecured private server for a while first.
They're absolutely terrified, and with good reason too, because they should be!
The House intelligence committee has the authority to declassify, which they are currently exercising.
The FBI says it has "grave concerns" about the accuracy of the Nunes memo.
I have grave concerns about the accuracy of anything I hear from the FBI.
It's partisan liars against bureaucrat liars. Let's call the whole thing off.
Or we could look at the two sides' alleged lies and judge for ourselves. Rather than suppress one side's claims as some supposed libertarians here apparently want to do.
Nobody is advocating this.
"Top FBI officials were aware for at least a month before alerting Congress that emails potentially related to an investigation of Hillary Clinton had emerged during a key stretch of the 2016 presidential campaign, according to text messages reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.
FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe had learned about the thousands of emails by Sept. 28, 2016, and Director James Comey informed Congress about them on Oct. 28, 11 days before the presidential election, the messages show.
----WSJ
https://tinyurl.com/y89yhh9q
So, while the country was arguing about the missing emails, and congress was investigating Hillary's email server, the FBI sat on the fact that they had them for 30 days--and didn't tell anybody.
If anybody did that to the FBI, they'd be prosecuted for obstruction of justice. When the FBI does it to congress and the American people, well, we should all just go light ourselves on fire?
The FBI needs to be opened up and exposed to the light.
The cockroaches at the FBI are already scurrying.
According to the Washington Post, questioning the government is "crossing a dangerous line".
Look at the byline. It's a principal, not a principle.
"the intelligence committees remained largely insulated from the nation's increasingly self-destructive politics"
Oh FFS lol derp.
This is kind of a trend on the left, also visible in the CFPB yesterday, saying that the "important" functions of government must be insulated from "political winds". Basically they want the elected bodies to be figureheads while an EU style unelected bureaucracy running things, presumably because they assume they would control said bureaucracy.
It's like trying to claim the Supreme Court isn't political.
Or the CFPB.
That actually is the explicit goal of Progressives and has been for 100 years, people are just figuring this out now?
And as long as the progs control the Democrats (and we all know that they do) I don't see how anyone who values limited government-conservative or libertarian-can be anything except their most implacable political enemy.
What Amazon Does to Poor Cities
The solution: unionized labor.
This is true. Working in a warehouse is much more difficult than being unemployed, waiting for that welfare dime.
And then I read the article, and saw nothing to overturn my first-paragraph impression.
Seriously, reading the comments made me a couple points dumber for the day.
*hugs*
If I were, say, a small-business owner who worked 96 hours a week at less than MW I would be more than a little peeved at the whining going on in that article.
Oh my everloving fuck...
The only way this can even begin to make sense, of course, is if you enter the mentality of the local government engineering its community's economy. Then, rather than the absurdist question, "Are people better off with a new job offer?" the question is probably more like, "Hmm, should we lure Amazon here with a shower of tax dollars and a few urban-renewal bulldozings, or should we hold out and go for something that offers 'higher quality' jobs?"
Sadly, this is exactly how people do think. And in your typical big city, it's everyone. There are no "good," salt-of-the-earth, storybook red-blooded Americans who have a healthy view of government. Everyone views it as something to be used to engineer their community to their own liking. They will selectively scoff at others, or say, "leave us alone," or say things that appear to believe in freedom and American values. But it's a delusion, and a self-delusion. Their only aspiration is to muscle the government into engineering things to their tastes, against those hateful un-American shitstains who want to muscle it towards other ends.
Workers say the warehouse jobs are grueling and high-stress, and that few people are able to stay in them long enough to reap the offered benefits, many of which don't become available until people have been with the company a year or more.
They receive 'many benefits' after just one year? Geez, at most of the companies I've worked for it's more usually 2 or 3 years until some of those benefits start to kick in. One year is...a really short period of time for higher benefit levels to kick in.
That left Mr. Corallo with concerns that Ms. Hicks could be contemplating obstructing justice, the people said.
I still don't see a crime here. Seeking dirt on Clinton (as if there isn't any out there...)? So?? Everyone is seeking dirt on everyone when running for office. That's why the definition of "collusion" matters. And I don't see what "justice" could be "obstructed" if there was no crime in the first place.
Meanwhile, Gabriel watched as his 39-year-old brother Jose worked across the street, doing the same type of job at a warehouse for the grocery chain Stater Brothers. The 1,000 workers there are unionized and get full medical benefits, pensions, and retiree medical benefits. Wages start at $26 an hour, but many workers make a lot more than that
I call BS.
Shit. Gilmored it.
Soon to be charged with obstructing comments.
At least everything's not italicized.
So why didn't Gabriel go get a job with Stater Brothers? Given that they're a much better place to work than Amazon, I'm sure they must be expanding and creating new jobs at an even faster pace than Amazon.
I don't know about $26, but I've known a number of people who worked for a frozen food distributor. They were paid quite well because they had to work in a freezer all day.
Seeking dirt from a foreign government?
Email the memo to Hillary and Huma, then Assange can release it in the normal way.
No, if you email it to Hillary and Huma, then the Russians can give it to John McCain, who in turn gives it to the FBI.
That's the normal way.
Speaking of John McCain, please retire or die already, you worthless fuck.
I'm floored by the number of so-called libertarians on this thread who want to suppress information about government abuse of FISA. I understand anti-Trump sentiment, but this is not about him really.
Next they'll be complaining about food trucks and reflexively defending police shootings.
That red herring is way past its expiration date.
Who is saying it should be suppressed? I'm really asking, it's possible I missed it.
No one. It's just Tulpa being Tulpa.
Only now investigating a 1981 murder? Wow, the backlog in Hollywood is worse than I thought!
"Rep. Adam B. Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, has accused the committee's Republican chair, Rep. Devin Nunes, of secretly altering the so-called Nunes memo, which alleges FBI surveillance abuses, before giving the memo to the White House."
No problem: Just present the original from the file.
Oh, the original is missing?
More likely the changes are such trivialities as moving commas and correcting typoes that he doesn't want to prove how whiny he is.
I keep seeing more and more references to Trump and his actions as "Nixonian" and I'm waiting for some sign that the penny is about to drop. Were I the press, I'd be careful of inviting comparisons of Trump to Nixon for fear of provoking comparisons of Nixon to Trump. People might just be curious enough about the whole Nixon narrative to do some Google searching to refresh their memory on what Fox News and Brietbart and Instapundit and their other favorite right-wing internet news sources were saying about Nixon at the time and suddenly realize that none of those sources existed at the time - and everything we "know" about Nixon was what we were told by the New York Times and the Washington Post. Hmmmmm....I wonder, could it be? Nah, surely they were brave speakers of truth to power at the time and it's not like they were suffering from Nixon Derangement Syndrome and their treatment of Nixon then was essentially the same as their treatment of Trump now. Could it be?
Seems to me there is a broad, mutual understanding the FBI business isn't going to yield meaningful charges. The Republicans, instead of running from the issue, are seeking to make political hay, and the Democrats are playing defense, accusing the Republicans of making political hay.
Did Democrats really not see this coming? They remember the 90s, right?
They remember the 90's and the takeaway is apparently that they're interested in repeating all of the Republicans mistakes in impeaching Clinton. Of course, they're hoping that Trump is worse at covering up than the Clintons. That seems to be the assumption, anyway.
Whether he's good or bad at it, they'll be left with the same charges... And four more years of Trump.
Wood have.
Actually, the erstwhile Mrs. Wagner had been secretly wed to a strapping Lt. Col. Earl Woods, who had adopted the polygamous habits of his first wife's native Thailand. Wagner took the news in stride; but a violently enraged Chris Walken objected to the interracial nature of the marriage, insecure about the history behind his own Sicilian heritage. The rest, unfortunately, is history.
