  • Inauguration Day protests
    Carol Guzy/ZUMA Press/Newscom

Countries in the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor of a resolution rejecting President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

  • The first pack of Inauguration Day protesters the Justice Department had prosecuted for roles in rioting have all been found not guilty. There are going to be more trials to come.
  • Prosecutors are asking the FBI for information about the controversial uranium deal between the United States and Russia back in 2010 and the role Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation may have played when she was secretary of state.
  • President Trump has commuted his first sentence, that of kosher meatpacking executive named Sholom Rubashkin who was sentenced to 27 years for financial fraud. There had been a bipartisan push to free him that included several former attorneys general. President Barack Obama had previously rejected the effort.
  • Due to a tie, the winner of a Virginia House race will be determined by a random draw, as state election laws demand. This will also determine which party controls that chamber next year.
  • Headlines that make the eggnog go sour: "No Michigan police officers disciplined for pulling gun on 11-year-old girl." Apparently they have to be carefully trained to not do that.
  • Voters in the Catalonia region of Spain have been turning out in droves for parliamentary elections. Who they pick may help indicate how serious they are about wanting to secede and become an independent country.
  • Chicago Police have arrested 50 in several raids connected to a secret Facebook group that allegedly revolved around selling guns and drugs.

There are going to be more trials to come.

Look at overhead shots of Trump's inauguration trials and compare their sizes to Obama's and Bush's.

    1. Rufus The Monocled   7 years ago

      Hello.

"Countries in the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor of a resolution rejecting President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital."

I totally don't see that coming.

I guess he tells them to fuck off next?

      1. Rufus The Monocled   7 years ago

And why is it any of their business anyway?

Like you should give a shit what Shitstainistan, or Sawdee Arabania, and Frunce think.

        1. Hank Stamper   7 years ago

Because Modern Israel is a country created by other countries after the fall of the Ottoman Empire?

          1. Bacon-Magic glib reasonoid   7 years ago

Israel's neighbors already tried force to get rid them...didn't work out so well for the neighbors.

          2. Rufus The Monocled   7 years ago

            Weak.

            If you ask me.

            1. Rufus The Monocled   7 years ago

Israel and the USA are not fricken beholden to the UN.

If Israel was they'd be wiped off by now.

So fuck the UN. Worthless, over rated organization. As useful as getting a Nobel Prize. Any organization that sees fit to give Arafat and Obama one should consider winding down.

          3. Longtobefree   7 years ago

No, that was the British Palestine mandate from the League of Nations in 1922. Being reasonable people, the Brits gave it up as impossible and announced they would abandon their responsibilities in 1948.
Israel was created by the UN (yes, really) in 1948. All that is missing for peace in the middle east is for the Arab nations to fulfill their part of the deal and absorb the displaces peoples.

        2. Underzog   7 years ago

It's not the business of the U.N; i.e., United Nazis. Eff them.

"There's no need to fear. Underzog is here"!

"Countries in the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor of a resolution rejecting President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital."

And it would have the same effect as every other UN resolution.

      3. Chipper Morning Baculum   7 years ago

Fuck those cucks for wanting peace, amirite, Rufus?

        1. Rufus The Monocled   7 years ago

          Who wants peace?

          Peace is for Quakers.

    Good enough for President Trump.

      1. Chipper Morning Baculum   7 years ago

At this point, I cannot be surprised anymore. By Trump, or by any commenter. I dare you.

      2. Unlabelable MJGreen   7 years ago

Trump doesn't fire people. He just makes them so uncomfortable and miserable that they quit.

        So watch out, UN.

    3. CE   7 years ago

Countries in the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor of a resolution rejecting President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Very well. How many divisions has the General Assembly?

    1. Unicorn Abattoir   7 years ago

Any divisions they had would be funded by us anyway.

    2. Fist of Etiquette   7 years ago

Appeasement is bound to work at some point.

      1. mad.casual   7 years ago

Am I wrong or can he not declare the UN to be based in Jerusalem? He should Tweet that he's selling the property out from under them in New York anyway.

        1. CE   7 years ago

So after all these years, turns out Michael Badnarik was right.

    3. mad.casual   7 years ago

Very well. How many divisions has the General Assembly?

I kinda wish they'd Tweeted their rejection, then it would've been cheaper and easier to ignore.

If Catalonia secedes do they have to get approval from the General Assembly to make Barcelona their Capital or can the UN recognize Catalonia as an independent state who's capital is in Madrid?

      1. Hank Stamper   7 years ago

If Catalonia secedes do they have to get approval from the General Assembly to make Barcelona their Capital or can the UN recognize Catalonia as an independent state who's capital is in Madrid?

Depends if Catalonia fights for it and wins they can tell every other country to fuck off. If they run to the UN to get recognized be prepared to have the UN set conditions whether now or in 75 years.

        1. mad.casual   7 years ago

So the problem with Israel moving the capital to Jerusalem is that they didn't roast enough Muslims from the get go? That if they'd bloodily murdered their way to good, solid recognizable apartheid or even genocide within their own borders the UN would've taken a more hands off approach? I guess that's a theory.

          1. Hank Stamper   7 years ago

Sure I mean they could stop before genocide but this conflict sadly won't be resolved until Israel (and not the USA) or Palestine wins a war outright. The USA should stay out if and keep all other major powers from getting involved. Let them fight, kill each other and then come to the negotiating table. It is how most conflicts are resolved between nations. The "peace plan" in my humble opinion only keeps the conflict from ever being resolved and creates more misery over time then a few year total war.

            1. BYODB   7 years ago

Where is Palestine? Is it on a map somewhere?

              1. mad.casual   7 years ago

                Where is Palestine?

The peace plan is an obvious failure as demonstrated by the fact that the Israelis haven't purged their borders of the Palestinians by means so bloody that the UN says, "Oh Holy Jesus... Hey! What's going on in Myanmar?!?"

Remember Rwanda? Now *that's* was a peace plan!

          2. DesigNate   7 years ago

It's my understanding that Israel's capitol has always been Jerusalem. It's just that hardly anyone recognizes it.

      2. CE   7 years ago

The UN will only recognize the sovereignty of Spain, and refuse to recognize the breakaway province of Catalonia, just like it says in their charter to ignore self determination and democracy.

    Low rent dark web.

Their first mistake was thinking they could have a secret Facebook group.

      1. Citizen X - #6   7 years ago

Yeah, but their second mistake was naming it Weeds N Weapons 420.

        1. Chipper Morning Baculum   7 years ago

Their third mistake was not letting Kevin's dad join the group.

        2. BestUsedCarSales   7 years ago

This is America, goddamnit, you want that shit, you can go to some commie country that isn't The Land Of The Free?.

  10. Libertarian   7 years ago

Bill Clinton, G.W. Bush, and Obama all said that Jerusalem should be recognized as the capital of Israel. Trump is probably saying to himself, "what the fuck is everybody so excited about?"

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/201.....em/9234736

    1. Rhywun   7 years ago

But it wasn't unseemly when they did it.

    2. Chipper Morning Baculum   7 years ago

      So why didn't they?

      1. Libertarian   7 years ago

According to the link (and other links I looked at) all 3 proposed the idea during their campaigns.

        1. BYODB   7 years ago

So in short, it helps you get elected but after that point you can just laugh and say something about 'timing' and how you need to work with the terrorists instead of Israel. That works. Not that Israel is some kind of bastion of good people, but they do look pretty good by comparison to most other countries (or non-countries) around them.

          1. CE   7 years ago

I guess it's important to not recognize reality if it might hurt someone's feelings. Even if those someones are anti-Semitic?

    3. Hank Stamper   7 years ago

Because they are politicians and everyone assumes they are lying until they actually do something? Trump problem is he followed through. Politicians aren't suppose to do that.

      1. Chipper Morning Baculum   7 years ago

Or maybe they are like "Sure, that sounds fun" when responding to "we should grab dinner sometime," while Trump is banging on your door with a bottle of wine the next evening after such meaningless banter.

        1. Bacon-Magic glib reasonoid   7 years ago

Sounds like someone that knows how to get a free meal.

Duh. Several of the member states in the UNGA want all the Jews dead, and here you want to give them recognition for a city being their capital? Geez, do you even international consensus, bro? Don't you know those Muslim majority nations might bomb us if we don't cave?

How can these be true? I thought Trump was some kind of Nazi Hitler?!

Keep reading the media. They have no agenda, always cite multiple reliable named sources, and have never had to retract anything.

  14. Longtobefree   7 years ago

So what will happen when Trump announces the UN is moving to Brussels, and the NY real estate will be grabbed by eminent domain and sold to clear the national debt?

    1. NotAnotherSkippy   7 years ago

More mindless articles from Shikha and half of the reason staff about how this violates the principles of open borders and a newfound appreciation of the value of public debt?

  15. Diane Reynolds (Paul.)   7 years ago

Well, if the UN rejects it...
