    And also fat.

      Hello.

"A woman has accused Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) of grabbing her buttocks while posing for a photo at the state fair in 2010."

Meh. A girl pinched my ass once.

      Al Frankenrape!

Time to call for Nancy Pelosi to step down.

      2. Zeb   8 years ago

I suppose it's a person's right to complain about any unwanted physical contact. But this is getting silly.

I've had my ass pinched by men, women, goats. No harm done.

And if Al Franken pinches your butt and you don't like it, fucking say something, don't wait for 10 years until all the cool people are doing it.

With all of this sexual harassment/assault stuff coming out, I have to ask, why the hell did all of these people wait until now? If the first person Harvey Weinstein tried to trade a movie role for sex with went public with it, his years of creepy bullshit might not have happened. It's not as if that kind of thing was socially acceptable 25 years ago.

            Hmmm....

The pandering to and attempts to gain the agreement of an audience that you constantly insult doesn't really work, and is kind of sad. It comes off as needy and clingy, in a weird bipolar sort of way.

        3. sharmota4zeb   8 years ago

Yes, when accusations pile up many years after the alleged events, it looks more like an attempt to get on the bandwagon.

        4. John   8 years ago

It is getting very silly Zeb. But it is hard to have much sympathy for Franken when you know he would be up in arms demanding the guy resign if this were a Republican.

          1. Zeb   8 years ago

Yeah, Franken is a hypocritical douche, I'm sure. I have little or no sympathy for him or anyone else involved in politics.

        5. BestUsedCarSales   8 years ago

It's not as if that kind of thing was socially acceptable 25 years ago.

I believe it may have been swept under the rug more.

          1. Zeb   8 years ago

That is evidently true. But if someone had made some noise about it, I suspect things would have gone differently for old Harvey and other men of his ilk.

            1. Unlabelable MJGreen   8 years ago

Who makes noise to whom? As I recall, as recently as this year NBC pulled a story on allegations against Weinstein. The guy pulls a lotta water in this town. Pretty, no-name actresses and assistants don't pull shit.

And considering he's settled with a number of accusers over the years, so often that it became part of his contract, we can't say they were silent. I get and agree with your general point, but as a practical matter, it's too easy to judge what so-and-so ought to have done. Especially if we're talking before social media, or even before the internet was widely used. What should the assistant that won a settlement in 1990 have done? Rush the stage at the Oscars and say, "Harvey Weinstein jacked off into a plant right in front of me!" Until you have a platform like Judd or McGowan, it's difficult to make any impact publicly. Gossip and a payout might be the best you can hope for. It's certainly less risky.

        6. mad.casual   8 years ago

The part that boggles my mind is that it's apparently been rumor for the better part of a couple decades and *nobody* said anything. That means that at least half-a-dozen women heard the rumor, got molested (or men and women were an accessory to rape), *and allowed it to happen again*. Seth McFarlane makes an off-hand joke with zero first hand knowledge and he gets pilloried for it.

          1. Zeb   8 years ago

I suspect that's part of why people are making such a big thing of it now. Lots of people knew what was happning for years and were basically complicit in covering it up. So now they need to make it all about the big bad men (who are undoubtedly bad men) and not about the big wall of silence that surrounded it all.

          2. The Last American Hero   8 years ago

The funny part is the last year's worth of awards speeches centered around The Donald and his comments about how easy it is for rich celebrities to get laid, or if you took his comments literally, think he admitted to committing sexual assault. And they centered around this revelation knowing full well what a cesspool Hollywood is, and knowing who, specifically, are the worst offenders.

          3. Kandralla   8 years ago

Well, in some of these cases people did talk and no one listened. Courtney Love and Rosanne Barr both publicly called out Weinstein and Louis CK respectively both several years ago.... people were still shocked to find out this was happening for some reason. If no one is listening or everyone would rather just ignore it and hope it goes away (and honestly, I think that's a significant part of a lot of this sexual stuff... like no one wants to imagine Charlie Rose standing naked in a room) and you have a lot to lose if people don't back you up, you're not going to keep pushing the issue.

        7. Brandybuck   8 years ago

Young kids do stupid things. For some reason people expect their actors, senators, newscasters, etc., to never have been stupid kids. Screw that, this is reality.

HOWEVER, that's still not an excuse for being stupid as a kid. The problem with Weinstein/Weiner was a pattern of indiscretion lasting until well until middle-aged-hood. The problem with Moore was being a creepy 30 year old chasing after and diddling 13 year olds. The problem with Stuart Smalley is genuine, by golly, old fashioned hypocrisy. Someone calls you out, and you know you did it, the least you can do is come out and admit it.

I've pinched butts of the fairer sex when I was young and stupid. I stopped after one of the fairer sex slapped my face into next week. I'm not in the senate though, but if I were and she came forward and accused me of pinching her butt, I would admit, and I would apologize. The problem is that none of these people (except Stuart Smalley, who was caught dead to rights) admits it or apologizes. That's the least I expect from members of the ruling class and their Hollywood and media cheerleaders who think they can run my life better than I can run it myself.

why the hell did all of these people wait until now?

Influx Of Puerto Ricans To Orlando Could Change The State's Political Landscape

Already, approximately 168,000 Puerto Ricans have flown into Florida to land in cities like Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Orlando in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Half of those arrivals usually migrate to Orlando, a city that has seen its Puerto Rican population reach over 1 million since 2000.

The ignition interlock device prevents a vehicle from starting if the driver is found to have been drinking.

But, what's left out of the article, apparently this device also requires that you blow into it every ten minutes, even while driving, because you might try to fool the device and safety is our Number 1 Priority.

    1. Diane Reynolds (Paul.)   8 years ago

Must be fun to have the device shut the engine off while barreling down the highway if you don't take or pass the test.

      1. Juice   8 years ago

        According to wikipedia:

At random times after the engine has been started, the IID will require another breath sample. The purpose of this is to prevent someone other than the driver from providing a breath sample. If the breath sample isn't provided, or the sample exceeds the ignition interlock's preset blood alcohol level, the device will log the event, warn the driver, and then start up an alarm (e.g., lights flashing, horn honking) until the ignition is turned off, or a clean breath sample has been provided. A common misconception is that interlock devices will simply turn off the engine if alcohol is detected; this would, however, create an unsafe driving situation and expose interlock manufacturers to considerable liability.

Causing an unsafe driving condition by requiring that a driver blow into a tube while driving doesn't create liability for some reason. Nor does a car driving down the road with all its lights flashing and its horn honking create liability. ?\_(?)_/?

        1. Diane Reynolds (Paul.)   8 years ago

Of course I didn't actually believe it would just shot off the engine. I was just curious what the enforcement mechanism was. I would have preferred ejecting the driver.

          1. BYODB   8 years ago

By 'logs the event' it means you're going to Jail, so there is that.

And he already admits to being a sinner when a young kid. He'd probably just give a heartfelt apology and ask for forgiveness. Not enough drama there.

And I'm saying I think the results would be disappointing for most. He's already admitted to being a shit as a younger person. One thing I dislike about a lot of these sex crimes thing is how they are very commonly spoken about in vague terms. I feel like it's done on purpose because it leaves more to the imaginations, which usually means people think the worst. Which means people usually think of someone beating someone over the head with a fire extinguisher than raping them while they are incapacitated.

Ooh, tomorrow should be fun: FCC to seek total repeal of net neutrality rules, sources say

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai will reveal plans to his fellow commissioners on Tuesday to fully dismantle the agency's Obama-era net neutrality regulations, people familiar with the plans said, in a major victory for the telecom industry in the long-running policy debate.

Trump-appointed Pai's plan would scrap the agency's core net neutrality rules, which prohibit internet service providers like Comcast or Verizon from blocking or slowing web traffic or negotiating paid deals with websites for "fast lanes" to consumers. The FCC will vote on the change in December.

Holy Cow is Charlie Rose sick fuck.

She said she was not intoxicated ? Rose had drunk his wine and then hers at the restaurant ? but said he appeared to be. It was nearly 2 a.m. and she was exhausted, she said. She also said she felt alone and powerless. It was the middle of the night, they were on his secluded property, and she did not know how to drive.

"I started talking in this feeble and compulsive way," she said. "I started talking about power, how the abuse of power can be. He completely lost it. 'What are you talking about? That's certainly not the case.' "

She said he then tried to put a hand down her pants.

"By the time he touched me the first time, he was already very angry," she said. "I was scared, and I was also kind of frozen."

After that, her memory is "hazy," she said. They ended up in his bedroom.

    1. John   8 years ago

"I really, honestly, I've tried so hard, especially recently, since I've been thinking about this, to try to remember what happened between sitting by the pool and being in his bed," she said. "I have no recollection of how we went from here to there. I do remember I was crying the entire time."

He reached down her pants again, she said, and she pushed his hands away. As she wept, she said, Rose asked her, "Baby, oh baby, why are you crying?"

The encounter ended when he appeared to be asleep and she felt she could leave the room, she said.

Outside of calling that lefty asshole Tony on his bullshit, I wanted to suggest a couple of books on the Norks:
    https://www.amazon.com /Nothing-Envy-Ordinary-Lives-North/dp/ 0385523912/ref=sr _1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1511239794= 1-1&keywords=north+korea
    https://www.amazon.com /Real-North-Korea-Politics-Stalinist/ dp/0199390037/ref=sr _1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1511239839= 1-3&keywords=north+korea
    https://www.amazon.com /North-Korea-Confidential-Dissenters- Defectors/dp/0804844585/ref=sr _1_8?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1511239839= 1-8&keywords=north+korea
Their foreign security service hasn't the material and skills of the Russkis, but they are deadly often enough. And deadly to those who happen to be nearby.

And once more to turd and Tony:
The claim is that Paule deserved it since he broke the HOA rules.
Got any REAL evidence of the rules he broke, or just more lefty whining?

Why even argue that? The strong point is that one doesn't just assault people regardless. If he violated HOA rules than go to the HOA. If he didn't then he didn't. It's like how if you see someone jaywalking you don't get to just shoot them in the streets. You have to find a police officer who can shoot them in the streets for you.

According to the neighbor, Paul's reason for opposing the HOA was "property rights". That smacks of libertarianism, i.e. nazism. Ergo his very existence is violence, and any violence directed at him is self-defense.
