- The Utah nurse who was arrested for refusing a police detective's order to draw a man's blood without the patient's permission or a warrant has reached a settlement with Salt Lake City for $500,000.
- "The Guantanamo Bay military tribunals on Wednesday won their first conviction without a plea deal since 2008. Only it wasn't a terrorist who was convicted—it was a one-star Marine general sticking up for the rights of the accused to have a fair trial." Keep that in mind when folks talk about sending the suspect in Tuesday's attack in New York City to Gitmo.
- Conservative billionaire political donor Robert Mercer is stepping down from his CEO position and will be selling his shares in Breitbart to his daughters.

THE RICH SUCCEED, THE POOR FAIL
So it turns out Osama bin Laden was a big gamer...
He ended up on the wrong side of his final FPS game.
Game Over.
He was apparently a Wallace and Grommit fan as well.
Really, the evidence is adding up that Bin Laden was 4chan given shape.

"429-page tax proposal"
How about this: A tax bill (and accompanying regulations) can't be longer than a Tolstoy novel.
But then the little people would be able to comprehend the system and know how to best not get swindled.
That would work if the purpose of the budget was to raise revenue and balance income with spending.
Since the budget is actually intended to social engineer the population and buy votes for members of Congress, I'm afraid any limit on word count is unrealistic.

Sam Clovis has withdrawn his name from consideration as the chief scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture after getting caught up in the investigation of Russian meddling...
Well I certainly didn't want to be force fed borsch. Good catch.
Without a scientist at Ag, HOW WILL THEY GROW THE BEETS?
The Utah nurse who was arrested for refusing a police detective's order to draw a man's blood without the patient's permission or a warrant has reached a settlement with Salt Lake City for $500,000.
Repeat.
The Utah nurse who was arrested for refusing a police detective's order to draw a man's blood without the patient's permission or a warrant has reached a settlement with Salt Lake City for $500,000.
To be paid personally by the involved officers as well as the PD pension fund, right? Right?
The cop and his supervisor deserve about a four week unpaid suspension and the nurse deserves a trip to Disneyland for her family. The rest just punishes the taxpayers, some of whom persumably voted against the idiots who run their local government.
He used his badge to thug a nurse. Bump that up to the penalty for impersonating an officer in his neck of the woods and we have a deal.
He was fired and his commander demoted.
The settlement liability was split between the city and the (public) university (which owns the hospital). So, still paid by innocent parties (taxpayers, university benefactors, students).

That seems silly to me. Glad all of us here are above such silliness.
Keep that in mind when folks talk about sending the suspect in Tuesday's attack in New York City to Gitmo.
You're not the president of my thoughts.
Conservative billionaire political donor Robert Mercer is stepping down from his CEO position and will be selling his shares in Breitbart to his daughters.
Who did he grope?
The problem is that Andrew was no longer here to grope him, and the time without it finally wore him down.
InfoWars thinks Hitler is still alive:
Reporter for Alex Jones' Infowars says Hitler is alive and the U.S. government is covering it up
The stories like this are why I listen to Infowars, and why AM Coast to Coast is so shit since Art Bell left.
I always felt like Art Bell was just humoring the crazies for the entertainment value.
I don't know, he did actually flee to the Philippines though. So there is either some real paranoia there or he is dedicated as fuck to his craft.
And he's transgender!
When they transferred his brain into a new host body, the brain was named Abby Normal.
You know who else would be 128 years old today?
Michael Hihn's grandson, if he hadn't died of marasmus?
Kind of weird. Not completely insane to believe that he survived the war, but Hitler would be 128 years old today.
I get the feeling that he was saying that that was a past lie the government told, as in within the period that Hitler could have lived after the war.
Fired FBI Director James Comey is apparently trolling President Donald Trump in the title of his upcoming book, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership.
Followed up with the sequel, If Hillary Did It.
Wouldn't it be a prequel?
In unintentional hilarity, the Seattle Times has suddenly gotten wobbly on its own definition of "rich".
In a July 10 article, the Times defined anyone earning over $250,000 as "rich". Their words.
Now they've backed off on their definition of 'rich'.
Now people who own a $750k to $1mil home are no longer 'rich'.
Article.
I can't help but wonder if this would somewhat impact the rise of housing prices.
'Rich' is whatever they need it to mean at the moment. It might even be someone that makes less than the person accusing someone of being rich, which is itself pretty rich.
Ah, Schlaklefort Links ....
... time for a smoke.
Nobody's mentioned it yet, but that is some damn fine alt-text, Shacklefleur.
Foul!
He is recycling one from Tovarich Kreyuskiov:
So it turns out Osama bin Laden was a big gamer and an anime fan.
Just release the his porn stash already.
So it turns out Osama bin Laden was a big gamer and an anime fan.
INFIDEL.
If Osama turns out to be a fucking Rei-Fag then it will make me lose all respect I had for him.
You had respect for a guy who possibly believed his own lies that there would be 72 virgins waiting for him if he died fighting infidels?
The virgins were just waiting for... HIM. They didn't have anything better to do wait and NOT have sex?
Bro you're going to get kicked out of philosophy class if you keep this up!
(I didn't get a chance that day to rail against that bitch who brought dishonor to all lovers of wisdom)
Clearly you don't understand how bad of a character Rei Ayanami is. Go watch NGE and then we can talk as equals.
Over two decades later and fags are still arguing over this. When will both sides realize that neither girl is better than the other; teh rei and asuka are shit, SHIT!
I didn't say anything about Asuka being great, just that Rei-Fags are the worst. Misato is the best in that show.
"By Allah, I was simply interested in, ah, the Japanese fishing industry, and I heard they had a lot of videos about calamari...talk about false advertising!"
The worst part is that he pirated Bible Black's anime adaption instead of the VN. Oh, and he watched Naruto. Absolutely shit-tier taste.
Also fun fact for King Crimson fans: the guy who created Bible Black and Starless named the two works after KC's famous album.
Why he named Discipline Discipline is still unknowable it seems.
Hilldawg just CANT. LET. IT. GO.
Well, it's so disappointing, Trevor, because, you know, I was a senator from New York on 9/11, I was with President Obama during a lot of difficult decisions as his Secretary of State; I obviously saw my husband responding to tragedies, attacks, the Oklahoma City bombing, and what you want in a president is what I think the three men I just mentioned delivered, and that is trying to bring the country together, talk about what happened with the event they are concerned about, but not to point fingers, not to scapegoat, not to try to set Americans against each other.
The NRA and suppressor producers called. They would like a word.
Noah asked, "How does it make you feel knowing that in one world, you won?"
Clinton commented sagely, "I've noticed this seems to be a theme with them, yes. And I can only say, if they want to make that world a reality, I'm still ready."
I smell a 2020 run...
I smell a 2020 run...
Or Bengay...
Smells like brimstone and rotten meat!
I just realized she's going to live to 100. Spite is a powerful force.
Clinton commented sagely,
there aren't enough eyerolls in the world for that choice of adverb
OK, I just realized it's the DailyWire. It's hard to tell the difference between parody and reality when it comes to her
"I was with President Obama during a lot of difficult decisions as his Secretary of State," said Clinton. "After Henry Lewis Gates was arrested, Barak wanted to host a Wine Spritzer Session. I said, 'No, make it a Beer Summit.' I helped him pick out jeans. I suggested yoga positions to help give a little definition to Michelle's arms. I don't think the current President could do those important things."
Veep is tame compared to this shit.

Who is the third man she 'just mentioned'? I see Trevor, Obama, and Bill Clinton. I'm assuming Trevor is not one of the three. I'm assuming she's talking about good ol' Tim McVey?
They pointed that out in the article. I was certain it was either Tim McVeigh or Bill Clinton's other personality.
I assumed Bush, as he was President during 9/11. But I'm going to choose to believe she meant Timothy McVeigh.
I thought Obama closed Gitmo?
He was in a wait-and-see position and then he was not crowned a 3rd term.
Many progs literally say that Obama's failure to live up to all of his promises was because he was thinking a Dem would win after him anyway, so he wanted to focus on what he thought was most important (so, I guess by their logic Obamacare and climate change were more important than slaughtering people abroad and destroying our civil liberties at home)
I wish I were kidding but this is a common belief for them
House Republicans have released their 429-page tax proposal today, and various people have opinions!
Can't wait until I feel ways about things.
Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership
"and how to avoid exhibiting two of these three qualities."
While definitely exhibiting, at the very least, the colon.
Fired FBI Director James Comey is apparently trolling President Donald Trump in the title of his upcoming book, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership.
Some things Comey knows about are: Loyalty, truth, and leadership. He is a liar, so he nailed that one.
I haven't seen MJGreen for a bit. Wonder how that boy is doing.
In other news I binged Orville and thought it was pretty G.
Honestly, while that show is insipid and retarded it does feel more tonally like Star Trek than the CBS Star Trek, even while the CBS Trek is pretty damn good. Maybe it's just the shitty sets and blatantly idiotic plotlines that remind of 1st season TNG though.
I was going to write Orville off until my big Trekker buddy said it was more Star Trek than Star Trek Discovery.
The plots are a little on the nose but ya know that's what really harks back to the 60's Trek. Those episodes were very topical, in the midst of Commie V. Democracy Star Trek is poignantly having a no money future, etc.
Was it Star Trek or the Twilight Zone that had the painted half-black, half-white people that looked like a checkered board?
Was it Star Trek or the Twilight Zone that had the painted half-black, half-white people that looked like a checkered board?
Since I have never watched either one sober, I'm going to go with Star Trek since I remember it in color and Twilight Zone was entirely Black and White (I think).
Trekker buddy, though? C'mon, everyone knows they're Trekkies ^_-
Orville does deserve to be written off for the most part, but I've never liked Seth McFarland so that might color my judgment (and I'm still watching it, god help me). Either way, CBS Star Trek is a show I really like. Start on Episode 3 and ignore the two-parter starter, if you want my advice. You don't need any of it and it actually makes the show worse IMO.
Star Trek
Tried but could not watch it very long.
Its Family Guy set to Sci-Fi.
MacFarlane is just very limited in what he is good at.
I've described it as NOT being Family Guy in space. The jokes seem to be secondary to the story itself in most episodes.
It's not even remotely like Family Guy. It's basically Star Trek TNG fan fiction with a joke throw in occasionally.
You what'd Orville?
Got sloppy drunk and watched all of them consecutively.
I misread your original comment, it sunk in a second later.

Trump supporting Bush hating Muslim says he totally gets why the NYC attacker did what he did.
Take your stinking narratives and shove it America.
'I totally get what he did,' Abu said of the suspect. 'It's in response to Muslims dying every day as a result of this ongoing conflict. Why doesn't the media cover that? The U.S. needs to get out and let us run our own affairs. But as long as they meddle and interfere, these terrorist attacks will continue to happen.'
Says an immigrant to America. Notice the pronoun usage.
Although the follow up is pure gold, Jerry.
A supporter of President Donald Trump and his immigration policies, Abu would later get into a scuffle at the mosque before a late afternoon prayer service and was booted out, with one worshiper branding him an ISIS sympathizer.
'They don't like me because I voted for Trump,' he said in a huff on the sidewalk out front.
Carlos Batista, 23, who lives two doors away from Sayfullo Saipov in Paterson, New Jersey said the Uzbek immigrant had the Home Depot truck for about three weeks and would park it wherever they could find a spot
I completely understand. On-street parking is a nightmare and would lead any of us to the same end.
Someone else mentioned this today. It looks to me like the Clintons are going the way of Harvey Weinstein: Once very powerful, and now suddenly former loyalists are distancing themselves.
That wasn't true, he said. Officials from Hillary's campaign had taken a look at the DNC's books. Obama left the party $24 million in debt?$15 million in bank debt and more than $8 million owed to vendors after the 2012 campaign?and had been paying that off very slowly. Obama's campaign was not scheduled to pay it off until 2016. Hillary for America (the campaign) and the Hillary Victory Fund (its joint fundraising vehicle with the DNC) had taken care of 80 percent of the remaining debt in 2016, about $10 million, and had placed the party on an allowance.
-Politico story
Didn't Democrats try and say that Trump was a deadbeat paying subcontractors? The DNC failed to payoff subcontractor debt for years.
Politicians and their minions really are scumbag liars.
The DNC was really hoping to win so they could swindle millions from taxpayers to pay off their campaign debt.
I will never give money to a political cause. I might volunteer my time but never give them cash. Federal elections just have gotten out-of-hand with costing so much.
I would rather see every candidate get a less-than-200 words informational paper about the candidate that can be found at the polling station.
I saw it expressed this way: For the first time since 1992, Democrats are not terrified of Hillary Clinton
Elizabeth Fucking Warren took a snipe at her. That's absurd. The far left is completely fine getting in bed with shady establishment figures (see their new love of the deep state). Hillary had to be absurdly corrupt before someone would turn on her
Both parties are burning to the ground and it's so beautiful to see. Hollywood and the MSM are losing their moral authority too, and none of this would have happened under Hillary. What a time to be alive
I dunno. People here in St. Louis are swooning because Bill is in town to visit a food bus that solves the "food desert"problem in inner cities that the left loves to go on about.
The best part of the article isn't even her Hillary-bashing, it's that she even threw Obama under the bus. She points out that this fucker was doing a fund-raiser every week and none of it was going to the party. He left the Dems over 1,000 political seats down and $25 million in debt by the 2016 election, and they had to go to Hillary and her corrupt graft machine to bail them out.
Obama's term in office is a great example of Chicago-style mob tactics taken to a national level. "Fuck you, pay me" and when you can't pay the bill anymore, they burn your business to the ground. Let's not misunderstand, though, the only reason this is coming out is because Hillary lost, and for that, at least, Trump's victory wasn't 100% awful.
Man who failed to indict a candidate who played by her own rules says he wants to teach the Prez a lesson in leadership.
Why are all these douchebags above advocating for a reduction in housing prices?
Someone who won't pay their mortgage isn't really in a position to be bitching about lower housing prices.
