House Narrowly Passes Budget, Twitter Bans Ads from Russian Media Outlets, JFK Files to Be Released: P.M. Links
-
Dolphfyn / Dreamstime The House narrowly passed a budget that cuts federal taxes but also scales back state and local income tax deductions, prompting a small group of Republicans in high-tax states to vote against it.
- Twitter has announced it is banning all ads from Russian-owned news networks RT and Sputnik. Call me dumb, but I don't think it's the advertising from news outlets that are obviously and openly connected to Russia that was the problem on social media here. RT responded by claiming Twitter had attempted to sell it election-related ad packages last year.
- Today the National Archives is releasing a bunch of previously secret files about President John F. Kennedy's assassination. Twitter has already beaten me to jokes about Sen. Ted Cruz's dad. Also, they might not be released.
- Former President George H. W. Bush has apologized again for apparently patting or grabbing women's butts when taking photos with them after a second woman came forth to complain.
- The Catalonian separatist leader in Spain has put the question of independence before the area's parliament, which might vote on Friday, even as Spain's senate votes to use emergency powers to take direct control over the region's government.
- A fireworks factory in Indonesia exploded, killing at least 47 people.

A fireworks factory in Indonesia exploded, killing at least 47 people.
But what a way to go.
All right, move along. Nothing to see here. Please disperse.
Is there anyone who didn't picture this when reading that headline?
"Light fuse and retire quickly."
Hello.
Twitter. Putting the Twit in Twitter.
The House narrowly passed a budget that cuts federal taxes but also scales back state and local income tax deductions...
Libertarian moment?
Great. States should not rely on the Feds to cover up their own overzealous taxation.
Also kill the mortgage interest and charitable donations deductions.
Just kill Schedule A.
So I have to pay more? How about just cutting spending, and eliminating the income tax?
I'm okay with the first, iffy on the second. Beyond on all else, we should have to pay for our excess. If we're going to go drunk and hog wild with our budget, we need to be willing to pay out.
And by "we" I assume you mean a per capita tax where everyone pays the same dollar amount.
Let's see, 4.147 trillion divided by 325 million Americans equals 12,760 USD per person.
I am fine with that. Hell, that's LESS taxes for me. The only point is we need to pay for it somehow and it is hubris that we want it both ways.
...prompting a small group of Republicans in high-tax states to vote against it.
Or prompting high-tax states to rethink their taxing schemes?
Nah.
The high tax states are controlled by people who like high taxes.
But there are a few gerrymandered congressional districts with Republican incumbents who can't vote to stick it to their own voters.
Former President George W. Bush has apologized again for apparently patting or grabbing women's butts when taking photos with them after a second woman came forth to complain.
NO ONE IS SAFE. Not even the infirm.
I thought tbe old man was at an age when all his fucks had been already been harvested and sent to market.
Not when there are people out there in need of #metoo.
Isn't that supposed to say H.W., not W.?
Exactly.
Former President George W. Bush has apologized again for apparently patting or grabbing women's butts when taking photos with them after a second woman came forth to complain.
Shreek decides he likes the Bush family after all.
At this point, if you're not in trouble for doing something to someone, then, are you really living?
Fuck you. If I'm 90+ and in a wheelchair, I'm grabbing all the fine female ass in sight with no apology.
"Heh, heh, gotcha againAH-HACKAHACKA .... Hoo, that was a close one."
What is the world coming to if you can't at least be a dirty old man?
At that age, you'll probably be mostly grabbing IV bags and thinking you are coping a feel.
As long as no one ever tells me, I'll be ok.
"I'm here to give you super sex!"
"OK, I'll have the soup."
It's mostly saline solution anyway.
Twitter has already beaten me to jokes about Sen. Ted Cruz's dad.
And in turn to us. Stupid twitter.
Never go for the obvious joke. That's my motto. Make some obscure reference that no one will get, and then feel smug about it.
Shackleford, you're dumb.
More like Shackelchevy.
...I don't think it's the advertising from new[s] outlets that are obviously and openly connected to Russia that was the problem on social media here.
Shackelfrod, you dummy, don't you understand just how stupid the American voter is? Their vote is directly tied to their gullibility, which means democracy in the United States be doomed.
'Connect with people who will promptly encourage you to kill yourself.
Have you ever thought that maybe those people SHOULD kill themselves?
So wneh did you graduate from Cleveland State, BUCS?
I'm a University of Arizona graduate for all three degrees. Don't you god damn forget it.
University of Phoenix is not the same thing as University of Arizona, BUCS.
Don't condescend to me, what are you trying to tell me my Associate's in "Super Kewl Game Design Pew Pew" is fake? Don't embarrass yourself.
Of course "Don't condescend to me, what are you trying to tell me my Associate's in "Super Kewl Game Design Pew Pew" is fake.
There should be three, count 'em THREE Pews
You know nothing of our nations finest education institutes and I would ask you don't embarrass yourself further.
The U.S. government was in danger Thursday of missing the deadline to release a trove of previously classified records from the assassination of President John F. Kennedy
The danger, of course, being the mandatory death penalties for missing the deadline.
I don't think the word "danger" means what they think it means.
And as expected, many of the files won't be released, due to "national security" concerns. Even though they pose no danger at all to national security.
YAY!
Schacklefurd Links!
...with xtra special Alt-Text!
Shak is king, baby.
... and Britches is a fucking Jester.
"Former President George H. W. Bush has apologized again for apparently patting or grabbing women's butts when taking photos with them after a second woman came forth to complain."
Unfortunately, his apology was NSFW.
George H.W. Bush does appear in this video.
NSFW?
[shudder]
Oh. My. God, Barbara, look at her butt!
The Catalonian separatist leader in Spain has put the question of independence before the area's parliament, which might vote on Friday, even as Spain's senate votes to use emergency powers to take direct control over the region's government.
Meanwhile, because of the senate's inability to do anything more than talk, the Trade Federation in orbit of Naboo is fighting with Jedi Knights for control of the Death Star plans.
Nerd.
Thanks for that, Nerdlinger.
Twitter has announced it is banning all ads from Russian-owned news networks RT and Sputnik.
Twitter's also banning Trump, right? RIGHT?!
Ah yes, my plan is coming along nicely.....
Jill Stein cackles nefariously.
How is it that i get "Reasonable" to take care of you in all your iterations?
Listen, all the major news networks were fine and good in 2016, so that means the election must be blamed on the social networks and fake news, and therefore we have to repeal the first amendment. Duh.
The Bill of Rights is not a suicide pact.
" . . . Prompting a small group of Republicans in high-tax states to vote against it."
Ah, yes, the GOP. The party whose members stand on principles and damn the consequences.
They are representing the interests of their constituents. That is how a Republic is supposed to function.

Hearing more reports of some journalists ? an embittered minority ? giving up on the public. "If they don't believe us, nothing we can do."
Tweet today by leftwing NYU journalism professor Jay Rosen.
Now that is a feel-good story if there ever was one.
What's the point of being a journalist if you can't control minds?
"""If they don't believe us, nothing we can do."""
You're only as good as the quality of your reporting.
Now, do they regret becoming the Democrat's cheerleading section in exchange for their credibility?
Officials Warn About Marijuana Edibles Being Given Out As Halloween Candy Treats
There is a significant presence of marijuana candy and other edible forms in New Jersey and nearby states. ... Currently, there is no information indicating that anyone would intentionally give out marijuana candy.
Oh, FFS!
They peddle the same lie every year. Can't they come up with something new?
"Because there is potentially such a thing as "bath salts" candy, parents should inspect ...."
Sometimes chocolate is poop!
Please don't link to things behind paywalls. Thanks!
Former President George H. W. Bush has apologized again for apparently patting or grabbing women's butts
"I can't help it if my name is Bush!"
It bothers me that his name is Bush, but by all sources I have Barbara is shaved clean.
And she always sports a big pearl necklace!
You have researched that? Why?
No, don't answer that!
They were rescued by the USN thousands of miles off course and with 1two less dogs than they started with.
US Navy rescues two unprepared boaters stuck at sea for 5 months
Same number of kids?
Is Ann Coulter turning against Trump? She thinks he's being lured away from his domestic-policy agenda by the siren song of foreign affairs.
It is cute that she thinks anyone cares what she thinks.
The House narrowly passed a budget that cuts federal taxes but also scales back state and local income tax deductions, prompting a small group of Republicans in high-tax states to vote against it.
Those deductions should never have been put in in the first place. Let the people in the shitty-ass blue states experience the consequences of their decisions; congress shouldn't be giving them special treatment.
It will be interesting to see if this causes real tax revolts in the blue states. I am skeptical. But there must be some chance of that or else they wouldn't be screaming like stuck pigs over the prospect.
There's a whole lotta shells to hide that pea-sized tax cut under.
This headline is completely wrong. The budget isn't a tax bill, and doesn't cut taxes or scale back state and local income tax deductions. It's just a required procedural step in getting to the tax bill. A lot of Rs voted against it because they fear that the tax bill will ultimately scrap the deduction.

Another Newsbabe has come forward about Mark Halprin. Someone on instapundit made a good point about being skeptical about some of this. Halprin is accused of rubbing his erect dick against some woman's leg. Halprin is Harver 87, those guys can't get erections.

The science is settled. None of us really exist.
And bees and hummingbirds shouldn't be flying.
Help! We have theorized ourselves into a corner and cannot get out!
That's okay, the corner isn't real either.
Uh, there is a way to get more matter than antimatter, if there is CP violation.

Rosy O'Donnell might not survive the Trump Presidency. Good to see her out there giving people a reason to vote for Trump again 2020.

Natalie Portman without makeup. I have to admit, she isn't doing a lot for me there.
First of all, have you seen me without makeup? Secondly, aside from that unfortunate trick of catching someone in a scowl at the moment the shutter snaps, I'd say she looks damn fine-- like it looks like she rolls out of bed that way, which is awesome.
I think she just looks pale. She is not ugly. But I don't think she is that great either.
Maybe if she went to Popeye's more often, you'd think differently, eh, John?
There's a difference between being Thick and being fat.
So are the photographers stalking these actresses, or do the acresses' agents call the news outlets in advance to get "candid" shots? I genuinely don't know.
Some of both.
I was at a dinner table Sat.night with a gentleman who works for American Media (publishes Enquirer, etc.) Among other stories he was free to tell (like how much more honorable mafia gangsters are than big city cops) he mentioned that paparazzi stalk just about everyone in ever movie and tv show and also they get tips from the target's agents about where the person will be. Keeps that person's face in the mags. Also, lots of the manufactured news comes planted suggestions from agents. In other words, much like what happens in the political world.
Interesting and confirms some suspicions.
Meh. Natalie Portman just isn't all that attractive, to be honest.
Call me dumb, but I don't think it's the advertising from news outlets that are obviously and openly connected to Russia that was the problem on social media here.
It's Twittertown, Scott.
More statue news. This time, Teddy Roosevelt is the victim.
Erected in 1938, the 10-foot-tall statue depicts the nation's 26th president on horseback, flanked by an indigenous man and an African-American man.
Gotta admit that one is a bit weird. And fuck Teddy Roosevelt.
London: A man was arrested as he tried to commit a lewd act on the statue of Benjamin Disraeli.
He was booked for...

No. Just no.
You know who else scared Tories?
"Cross must be removed from statue of Pope...
"France's top administrative court the Conseil d'Etat has ruled that the cross must be removed as it is a religious symbol and breaks France's law of separation of Church and State of 1905. The rest of the statue, including an arch over the figure of the Pope, can remain in place."
Is this a hard jab at Catholics by saying the Pope isn't religious?
it was given as a personal gift to mayor Paul Anselin, and was erected despite a strong "anti-statue" campaign in the town.
Know who else...
While RT's Russian ownership (and, frankly, obviously-run-by-the-Kremlin-ness) is not secret, you might be surprised how many people in the US simply don't realize it, on the assumption that the rest of the world is like the US - free media and no state-run outlet.
(I do not, note, think this means Twitter should ban their ads, just that "everybody knows they're just a mouthpiece" is sadly not so commonplace.)
like the US - free media and no state-run outlet.
Hehe. Well, quasi-free and quasi-not-state-run anyway.
"While RT's Russian ownership............."
Does it require ownership for CNN to pitch the hag's campaign?
My point is that skepticism is required regardless of who owns what.
Thanks Scott! Assassination buffs will be thrilled to know that Gutenberg.org (where contributions are welcome) has been quietly converting the entire carload of Warren Commission documents into reliably-vetted text files for download. Most, if not all of the material is already posted. Naturally there are questions about how autopsy notes were deliberately destroyed and how the gal who interviewed Jack Ruby promptly turned up at the morgue. Oswald's friend George Sergius de Mohrenschildt's suicide shortly after a letter to CIA Director George HW Bush--as reporters knocked on the door--is the whipped cream topping befitting a Sherlock Holmes mystery. Sequels, please!!!
Alabama Bill Would Eliminate Marriage Licenses, Nullify Federal Control in Practice
Finally getting the supposed least progressive state out of the state sanctioned marriage business.
The House narrowly passed a budget - - -
I would prefer the headline "the house passed a narrow budget"
"Call me dumb, but I don't think it's the advertising from news outlets that are obviously and openly connected to Russia that was the problem on social media here."
Well, I'll be happy to call you dumb, since I don't see a "problem".
as Annie replied I didn't even know that any one able to earn $8091 in four weeks on the
computer . why not check here?
The House narrowly passed a budget that ... scales back state and local income tax deductions, Hallelujah, why should my neighbors in NH have to support MA overspending?
