  1. Man, the “Meaning of Life” remake is REALLY dark.

    1. Tarantino backed out because of schedule conflicts.

  2. We’re investigating her case fully and have also invited her into our hospital so we can discuss what happened in more detail.

“Please take a seat here, we’ll be right with you.”

  3. Boy, I can’t wait until we get single payer national health, gonna be some good time then…

      1. all the CN dead have been dumped into the St Lawrence and word of their demise suppressed by the state run media….

        1. What the hell has China got to do with this?

  4. “She remained in the ER for three hours with her dead baby before being admitted.”

I suspect that when REASON is mocking the UK medical system, a miscarried fetus is a “dead baby”, but not so much if touting the wonders of abortion.

    1. Please cite one time Reason has “touted the wonders of abortion”. The standard pro-choice rhetoric is that abortion is often the least bad of many bad options. It’s a right, but it should be legal, safe and rare.

      1. “The standard pro-choice rhetoric is that abortion is often the least bad of many bad options.”

That’s not the standard rhetoric I usually hear, but my point is: If a 15-week fetus is going to be referred to as a “dead baby” here, I’d like to see such fetuses referred to as dead babies whenever they are being discussed.

        1. Wanted child: dead human baby.
          Unwanted child: clump of cells

You make a valid point about the being a filter.

        2. The dead only know one thing – it is better to be alive.

        3. That’s a valid point now that you’ve removed your ridiculous straw man.

          1. It’s as valid a distinction as the difference between rape and consensual sex.

Considering how many pro-lifers accept abortion in rape cases, it’s an entirely valid comparison.

            1. They really aren’t the same. Some pro-lifers tolerate abortion in cases of rape as a form of justifiable homicide. Contrast Reason arguing it’s just some lifeless clump of cells when discussing abortion, and then switching to a “dead baby” when it’s a miscarriage.

One of these groups maintains their basic premise regardless of situation. The other completely changes terminology the moment it becomes convenient to their politics

      2. Was it Lena Dunham, spokesperson for the entire progressive left, who lamented the fact that she had never had an abortion? Or was it someone else? I can’t remember, but can’t be bothered to look it up.

  5. I think the point here is that a woman 15 weeks into a pregnancy, who calls a hospital because she is bleeding, deserves more than a promise that a midwife will “be along in a bit”. And I would like to know a number rather than “several hours” for the delay.

The other point, or course, is that even when medical services are known “as needs improvement”, they are still all you get. No choice under government provided health care.

And one further point. How would we react to this story if the woman had died from the lack of actual health care?

    1. And what the hell is a MIDWIFE supposed to do when you are not even at the end of your fourth month of pregnancy and you start bleeding? Midwives deliver babies who are five months premature?

  6. If you like your dead baby you can keep your dead baby.

    1. unless some one more needy wants your dead baby…

      1. Maybe the dingo….oh forget it

  7. This is the kind of healthcare the Left wants for us!

  8. When Tammy Anderson began bleeding, she called Queen’s Hospital in Essex, England, They said they’d send a midwife. But Anderson miscarried, and several hours alter, the hospital called her back to say she should come in. She remained in the ER for three hours with her clump of cells before being admitted.

    FTFY Oliver.

I’m actually pretty confused with this article. I’m supposed to think that it wasn’t a baby, and that nothing died if it was aborted at 15 weeks, but if it miscarried then it was indeed a person and this is a miscarriage of justice somehow? What does it matter? Nothing was lost except some clump of cells right?

    1. Something something intent. Something something my body.

Just realize I can change my mind as the scenario fits.
