Michael Moore called for the repeal of the "ancient" and "outdated" Second Amendment.
Come on. It's only 100 years old.
Is it really such a slow news day that Michael Moore's opinion on anything is worth any attention?
Try it.
An outright repeal has to be easier than chipping away at it through unconstitutional gun control legislation, right?
This sounds like a great strategy for the Democratic Party.
It would be refreshing to hear Democrats debate the Constitution with intellectual honesty rather than the usual distortions they make about the meaning of "well-regulated militia", "necessary", "free state", "right of the people", "keep and bear Arms", and "shall not be abridged".
Yeah, stop violating the Bill of Rights. Submit the amendment to repeal the Second Amendment, and see how it does.
Maybe they'll learn it's not just a Koch Brothers/NRA plot, but popular will in a large majority of states that is keeping guns legal.
Hey, they're PROGRESSives, not PROCESSives...
What is "Mike Hihn's Favorite Pickup Line"?
My heart doth quiver at the bare sight of your ankle.
Like that dumb bastard has ever had that much brevity in his life. His favorite pickup line is a 15 minute, incoherent monologue, the subject of which is known only to Hihn because no one has ever been able to listen to him long enough or care enough to figure out what it is about.
Any rejection, of course, means that the object of his ancient affection is a bully.
(I look forward to him finding this thread at 4 o'clock tomorrow morning and calling us fascists.)
Well if the shoe SS armband fits,
Hey, I read everything he writes and try really hard to understand. I don't understand it because it's incoherent.
And you are fascist. If you don't understand or in any way fail to agree with Hihn, it is because you are a fascist. That is the only idea Hihn can coherently express.

At least he's being honest about it.
Most of the time anti-gunners won't say they want to repeal the 2A.

Uh, then who's been giving me all this coal on Christmases that I've been asking for?
Doesn't everyone just get given coal every day in Central PA?
Some days it's scrapple.
It really fills out the Christmas stocking.
Mmm, that's an extra good day.
Done correctly, scrapple should look like coal.
Central. Pffft.
Central PA is everywhere that's not Philadelphia or Pittsburg.
You're just digging a hole for yourself.
It's Pittsburgh, with an h

We don't like to bring up MLP here now, not after the incident.

Weird, i didn't know the Cult of Sigmar was so heavily represented at the highest levels.
You cannot imagine how much Warhammer I've played the past few days.
You think the Skaven are getting ready for their big move against the Surface World?
If they do the High Elven Brettonian Aliance will be ready.
Do you paint minis?
For sure, that's where it started. I'm more of a gamer than a painter though -- literally have boxes of unpainted minis. That's why Total War is the dream come true, provides the experience I'd never be able to achieve on the table top. That said, a full table set up with a full army and dice rolling would be an amazing thing.
Yeah, same here. Though I find painting (when I actually find the time), to be very therapeutic.
Jesus Christ those minis are expensive.
If it costs thousands of dollars to play a game, I'm out.
Goddamn tyranids.

I have it on good authority that Crusty is half Santa Claus.
The other half is horse. He is a Santaur.
Ha ha ha
Crusty is the much less popular reverse centaur. It is known.
The Cardinal of Caracas accused the Venezuelan regime of clinging to a "Marxist, totalitarian system" in his report to the pope.
And His Holiness replied, "I can only hope."

Man charged in Edmonton terror attacks deported from the US in 2011. Diversity is our strength!!
Shoulda deported that guy in Vegas back to his home country.
Because we have homegrown terrorist, why not invite more in from the outside? Solid thinking there Juice. Solid thinking.
smh. We've had this discussion before. If preventing someone from entering the country stops some future crime, then it would be logical to deport people who are already here too. They have the potential to commit just as much crime.
I can also use your logic to advocate for gun control. If one person who owns a gun kills someone, no one should be allowed to have guns. If one immigrant commits a crime, no immigrants should ever be allowed to enter the country. This logic can be used to justify all sorts of rights violations in the name of safety.
Better safe than sorry free.
When another country is deporting a guy because they think he is a danger, it is probably a good idea not to let him in. I realize you think that Muslims are sacred and that everyone has a right to go over any border and governments have no responsibility to protect or in any way act in their interests of their own citizens. But, maybe in some cases, like when a guy is being kicked out of another country because they think he is nuts, that you should reconsider those positions.
You sort of just ignored his point. Why is it not reasonable to deport citizens we consider dangerous?
I realize you think that Muslims are sacred
*wanking motion*
everyone has a right to go over any border and governments have no responsibility to protect or in any way act in their interests of their own citizens
Why don't I need a visa or any kind of permission to cross the border into a neighboring US state? Aren't they inviting criminals to cross their borders and commit crimes?
Because state borders are not international borders. And again, when another country says "this guy is dangerous", why would you still let him into the country?
Don't let me stop you. Please continue to take that position and make sure that it is associated with the open borders position. Absolutely continue to claim that not allowing someone from Somalia into the country who is a known danger is totally the same as not letting an American citizen travel to California. Good luck with that position.
Seriously, I couldn't come up with a straw man to make open borders people look like delusional fanatics that would be any more effective than the position you actually take here.
Because state borders are not international borders. And again, when another country says "this guy is dangerous", why would you still let him into the country?
Is the only difference legal? So is your entire reasoning that it's the law and therefore it is a fundamentally meaningful difference?
Absolutely continue to claim that not allowing someone from Somalia into the country who is a known danger is totally the same as not letting an American citizen travel to California.
He specified a dangerous American citizen. At that point, the two are barely different. He is asking why does a state just have to accept a dangerous person entering into them when a country can ban it. Why does the state have to allow that? My understanding is that the difference is one of these people was born here. What logical difference does this make?
Good luck with that position.
What do you mean by this? Is your reason that his argument is bad because it's unlikely to come into effect?
continue to claim that not allowing someone from Somalia into the country who is a known danger is totally the same as not letting an American citizen travel to California
Well, it seems to me that the only difference there is that the law and constitution say it's not allowed for California to stop a person from Nevada known to be likely to commit a crime from crossing the state border and say that it is allowed to stop someone from Somalia from crossing the national border. The question is what justifies that distinction? And if borders are good and necessary for security, why wouldn't restrictions and searches when crossing state borders also be good and necessary for security?
I'm not taking a strong position here. I think that in the imperfect world we have, it's probably rational and good to have some control over international borders. And that restrictions on state borders would be an unreasonable restriction of liberty. But it is an interesting question for those who think that tightly controlled national borders are a necessity and pose no dilemma when it comes to individual liberty.
Please, Juice, don't change. Don't ever change.
Do you believe that there is any justification for any type of border? You are here, so I am assuming you stand-by private property (correct me if I'm wrong). What is the justification for the existence of those borders. Certainly, you do agree that someone should not be allowed on private property without the permission of the property owner.
If this is true, why can't collectives of property owners come together to a shared agreement on who is allowed in?
BUCS is just running squares around himself at this point.
I'm just wondering what they think.
Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) accused Trump administration members of not defending Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, saying Tillerson, Defense Secretary James Mattis, and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly were protecting the country from "chaos."

That was my first thought but I could not remember the spelling or show.

That's okay. I'll just sext MILFs while I give the 16 y/o teens the ol' rusty venture.
A rusty venture? You keep a snorkel in your bedroom?
I am not comfortable with this conversation.
Gotta keep people from disseminating on them teenagers.
So film yourself naked and send it to a 17 year old, that's harmful and illegal. Show the film in a theater and have the same person pay to see it, that's fine.

Joachim Frank was among three scientists awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their work on cryo-electron microscopy.
They should have waited to award it until they actually revived Walt Disney.
Nobel- the group that gave Obama a peace prize in Oct 2009.
The USA was at war at the time and Obama okayed war in Syrian, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia.
Hacks is what I would call the Nobel eligibility board.

Six states each have ONE remaining licensed clinic surrounded by pro-life centers where protesters line the streets chasing down patients to plead with them to 'make the right decision'
Thank goodness took care of this issue.
*the feds* missing words like whoa.
Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota
I wonder if those three have laws causing this, or if it's just there so low population that they only have it in their big city.
pro-life pseudo-clinics
What is a pseudo=clinic?
A tentacle that provides medical care? I KNOW you have plenty of videos of just that phenomenon.
A tentacle that has pacifiers instead of suckers.
I business that tries to make itself look like a medical clinic, but that doesn't offer any other services besides "pray to Jesus and everything will turn out right somehow".
And you know this is what these places are how? Did the little Charles Darwin that lives under bed tell you this?
"Charles Darwin"? Is natural selection a left-wing plot now? Or did he have a life I didn't know about as a pro-abortion activist?
So, free competition and freedom of speech, competing for mind share. What's the issue?
Abolitionists once called legalized slavery "the sum of all villainies." It wasn't just wrong in one respect, it was wrong in all respects - it endangered life, freedom, the integrity of the family, and even freedom of speech by suppressing critics.
Perhaps legal abortion is showing some of these tendencies. It's not simply wrong in one respect, it endangers people's lives, and protecting abortionists gives the government an excuse to suppress First Amendment rights.
Maybe Marissa Mayer should have been a little less busy leaning in and demanding promotions and jobs she didn't deserve and playing mommy and should have been doing her job.

Sex, Hefner and America's hookup culture
Never change, KJW.
What we get is leaving us hungering for still more or longing for some emotion or transcendent satisfaction that cheap sex seems to promise but seldom delivers.
I really wish that guy in college hadn't chewed his arm off and instead made an honest woman of Lopez. It would have saved the world from so much nonsense.
I thought Lopez and the scholar she cited had some good points, but then I read your rebuttal and realized that they are mistaken. /sarc
Cheap sex has been mass-produced with the help of two distinctive means that have little to do with each other ? the wide uptake of the Pill and mass-produced high-quality pornography
This professor certainly has firm opinions on porn quality.
What exactly is low-quality pornography? Does Lopez have a special porn rating scale?
They haven't seen porn they didn't like, so they just extrapolate that it's allllll goooooood.
If you can see pixels, it is low quality.
So most Japanese porn then.
He's right. That stuff is awful.
In the 70s, I remember seeing 8mm black and white silent porn projected onto a nasty bedsheet.
That was pretty low-quality.
What did your friends think?
I love this line, Online porn is now standard operating procedure for a near-majority of men. , because men in the past never watched stag films, went to burlesque shows or frequented hookers. Nope. The world was as pure a driven snow before the internet came and corrupted it.

Infringing on the right to keep and bear arms is consistent with the second amendment provision of not allowing the government to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.-Rep. Bill Foster (D-Ill)
"I would hope that when you look at what's happened with mass shootings in the last years that we, at a minimum, establish the principle that if you are going to own a military-type weapon that should be locked away in a gun club and not carried in public ? that is completely consistent with the Second Amendment and it's a principle that we should apply nationally,"..."A well-regulated militia is completely consistent with having military-style arms put under lock-and-key in a regulated environment,"..."We should not be selling guns of mass destruction like that. Those are not guns that are used for people to defend themselves in their homes. Those are guns that are just used to kill hundreds and injure hundreds of people. They're not really used for self-defense.

The single city of Chicago moved up US national murder stats by almost 10%.

A correction on a Politico article:
Fact checking is quaint.
There is no evidence of any Koch involvement in the passage of the law. So, why did your article say otherwise?
Every Politico article starts with a Koch Brothers conspiracy theory.
Austerity.
"And we intended to say that the Kochs were *not* the Supreme Leaders of the Lizard People Conspiracy, but the *not* was omitted accidentally."
All automatic and semi-automatic guns are banned.
So cops will have to use old timey single shot pistols? Remember this is a constitutional amendment, so it would ban it for everyone.
One's guns must be stored at a licensed gun club or government-regulated gun storage facility.
I remember the take-home message of Bowling for Columbine was that no one really has a good solution and that gun control and confiscation was not necessarily the answer. Am I wrong about that? Did I watch the movie wrong?
I listened to the official news this morning, and it described bumper stocks as upgrading a gun to fire as if it was a semi-automatic weapon. I wouldn't be surprised if people don't know what that means.
That being said, who are you quoting?
The Michael Moore FB post from the article.
I remember the take-home message of Bowling for Columbine was that
It's really easy to make fun of a guy with alzheimers who once stood up for civil rights when it mattered?
What guy?
We don't remember.
As nearly half of all gun deaths are suicides, mental health care must become a top national health priority and must be properly funded. And by making it more difficult to purchase a gun - and requiring its storage outside the home - easy access during a suicidal moment is denied.
I have a hard time articulating how unreasonable I think that is. We talk about suicide as if it is something that should never happen. By doing we completely remove maybe the one type of ownership we as humans have, our choice over our own lives. People claim that when someone commits suicide they are mentally unwell and thus are not competent at that time. I think that is a horrendous statement, removing people of their inherent will and volition.
I hate that shit.
I have been called some pretty horrible things for articulating this same basic opinion regarding suicide.
Please list those horrible things. Thank you.

'Heartless piece of shit' comes to mind.
It's just a topic that elicits some very emotional responses. Kind of like drug abuse, ultimately it comes down to an individual making a decision(s) over their own life. However, there is a lot of collateral damage, as far as suffering and grief, for friends and family. So, naturally, people insist that something be done to prevent that individual autonomy.
There is a lot of religious crap wrapped up in it as well.
Yeah there is, and I've never really understood that. I'm a church-going Baptist, but I've never found a verse in the Bible that directly addresses suicide one way or the other.
I believe it is, Thou Shalt Not Kill. Suicide is Self-Killing. Therefore it is a mortal sin. Do many traditions make a big deal out of suicide other than Catholics? I know Catholics take issue because you die in a state of mortal sin and are unable to either confess or receive Last Rites.
Most translations go with 'Though shalt not Murder' (Exodus 20 - 13); so I guess it becomes a matter of interpretation and whether it would be considered self-murder. I don't think it's as big a deal with Baptists as it is Catholics, but its definitely... frowned upon, if that's the right phrase.
Yes, but the King James Bible is clearly the English translation that God truly intended.
If you don't mind a Catholic take on it, check out sections 66-67 of Pope John Paul II's Evangelium Vitae, which has some good scriptural and doctoral commentary on the issue.
http://w2.vatican.va/content/j.....vitae.html
(I was going to post an excerpt, but doing so on my iPad was proving unwieldy).
The basic premise that scripture returns to on the issue is God's authorship of life and death and our usurpation of such power (seen especially in the Old Testament). Also, for the Christian, the importance of how our lives (and deaths) and united with Christ's (a central tenet of Paul). That might be a start to find Baptist writings on the issue.
The right to suicide is probably the most fundamental right we have. I try to respect someone's choice when they have decided to end it. Especially if they deliberated for a while and were sure they wanted to do ut.
Really? So, if I say took every other right you had and locked you in a cage but gave you the right to kill yourself, you would be more "free" than if I let you out of the cage but took away your right to kill yourself?
Is that your final answer?
How did you get that from what I said. Fundamental does not mean highest on a preference scale. But in some situations, yes. What if I was in unbearable pain?
All of those would necessarily impede on the fundamental right here, which is the right to ones own body.
But most of the people who do it are mentally ill, and could use help. And the moment can pass, but not if you're already dead. And it's not like guns are the only way to do it.
Yes. I definitely think we should try to help suicidal people find another way. Unless perhaps their life is close to over and they have a lot of physical or emotional pain.
But I also don't think it should necessarily be grounds to declare someone legally incompetent or in need of a guardian.
Exactly. So, big whoop.
A right to live entails a right to die, imo.
A right to live entails necessitates a right to die, imo.
And we don't even have that. As far as I can tell, even when people discuss Right-To-Die it is within a narrow context where you would need to seek official council who would give you the right to do so.
When President Obama tried to get Congress to pass simple, common sense gun control legislation after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, polls showed 90% of the country backed him! But the NRA beat him. LET'S ORGANIZE THE 90%!
As always, I would love to know what that poll asked. Because "common-sense gun control" means literally nothing. "Common-sense" anything is just a buzzword devoid of actual meaning. It's like saying I'm for "Good laws" it's nothing, and it's adjective presupposes an answer without requiring us to actually ask what is considered good.

Not exactly stunning. The city (Stonecrest, GA) has existed as a city for less than a year and is named after its main, and pretty much only, attraction: Stonecrest Mall. A mall which was okay for the first couple years, but has been a shithole for the last decade.
