Las Vegas Shooter Stephen Paddock: What We Know So Far (Update: Explosives Found At Shooter's Home)
No clear motive or explanation is readily available for the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, which left 58 dead and more than 500 injured.

Update: During a press conference Monday afternoon, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said police searching the Mesquite, Nev., home of Stephen Paddock found 18 more guns, explosives, thousands of rounds of ammo, and "some electronic devices."

It's not clear at this time whether Paddock was attempting to build an explosive device or whether the material in his home was unconnected to the attack carried out on Sunday night. Having several thousand rounds of ammo is not all that unreasonable when you consider that Paddock owned, apparently, more than 30 guns (reports vary on how many were found in the hotel room, ranging from 15 to 20).
As of 3 p.m. local time, the official body count from the gun massacre sits at 59 killed, 527 injured, authorities said.
---
Stephen Paddock—the man who, police say, opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay hotel into a crowd of more than 22,000 concert-goers Sunday night, killed at least 58 people, and ended his bloody assault by taking his own life—lived about an hour from Las Vegas, worked as an accountant, and enjoyed playing poker.
Those details are relatively easy to ascertain. Much harder, it seems, is finding a motive for the Paddock's final night, when he committed the worst mass shooting in American history, apparently acting alone.
Police said Monday afternoon that Paddock used at least one automatic weapon to carry out his attack, along with as many as a dozen other weapons found in his hotel room, The Wall Street Journal reported. More than an hour elapsed from when the shooting began to when a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department SWAT team broke down Paddock's hotel room door, finding him dead.
"It was like a war zone. People were just dropping to the ground and running," said Joseph Ostunio, an attendee at the concert who spoke to CNN on Monday.
But even after police raided Paddock's home in Mesquite, Nevada, where they found more weapons but no explosives or indications of why the 64-year-old decided to carry out such an attack, and even after the shooter's brother gave several interviews to media, there is little indication of a motive or explanation.
"What's unique for us is the gunman, the shooter, and the person with him, we in the Mesquite Police Department have not had any contact with these people in the past. We haven't had any traffic stops, any law enforcement contact, no arrests or nothing," said Quinn Averett, a spokesman for the Mesquite Police Department, according to CNN. In Las Vegas, the only official record of Paddock had to do with a citation issued years ago and settled in typical fashion. "We had no knowledge of this individual," LVMPD Sheriff Joseph Lombardo told CNN. "I don't know how it could have been prevented."
Media reports and police statements Monday stitched together a story of a well-off retiree who would play $100-per-hand blackjack at Las Vegas casinos and had purchased a $369,000 home in January 2015. NBC News reported that Paddock gambled more than $10,000 per day, and in some cases as much as $30,000 daily, at Las Vegas casinos, citing an unnamed source with access to casino records. It was not clear whether those transactions were wins or losses.
Public records indicate that Paddock had a hunting license, was a pilot, and had a lawsuit against a casino years ago.
Eric Paddock, the shooter's brother, told media camped at his house in Orlando, Florida that he was "dumbfounded" by the news and did not know his brother owned automatic weapons.

A woman who lived at the same Mesquite, Nevada, address as Paddock was sought by police earlier Monday, according to multiple media reports. Police now say she is not considered an accomplice, and that she was out of the country at the time of the shooting.
Paddock owned a second home in the Dallas suburb of Mesquite, Texas, The Washington Post reported.
The Islamic State took credit for the attack in social media posts Monday, claiming that Paddock had converted to Islam several months ago. There was no confirmation of that claim as of Monday afternoon, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security called the attack a "lone wolf" incident and a spokesman for the FBI in Las Vegas said there was no evidence of a connection "to an international terrorist group," according to the Associated Press.
Patrick Benjamin Paddock, the shooter's father, was a bank robber and prison escapee who once made the FBI's "Most Wanted" list. Patrick Paddock was arrested on July 28, 1960, in Las Vegas, where he had fled after the bank robbery in Phoenix. Paddock later escaped from prison, and lived in Oregon, where he ran a bingo parlor under an assumed name. He died in 1998.

He was angry about gambling debts I guess.
Yeah that is what I am kinda thinking too. Gambling with so much money, you're going to lose more than you win.
The only thing about that is why attack a country concert in the street instead of going in and blasting a bunch of pit bosses and dealers? It may have been revenge on the Casinos but it doesn't quite add up.
Country music is associated with the south and maybe Trump voters, so the hit might have been "political", but that's just speculation at this point.
As long as we are speculating, maybe he lost the bulk of his money by gambling at the Mandalay Bay and committed the killings from there hoping the victims' lawsuits will bankrupt the Mandalay Bay? Scumbag lawyers will obviously try to rope in the Mandalay Bay for not providing proper security, etc. etc.

According to the alleged shooter's brother, he was also a country fan. Curiouser and curiouser.
The plot thickens....
If it turns out he was fighting against the state of current mainstream country and the Nashville sound then he is a martyr.
Or, perhaps he murdered all of those innocent concert-goers so that Tony had a mountain of corpses to climb atop and wave his bitchy, partisan finger.
ThreadWinnah!
Hard target vs. Soft target
Those weren't real human beings he was killing, they were just the income source of those he hated and wanted to destroy. They were nameless, faceless pawns.
Sociopaths are like that.
People make a living gambling. It's a losing proposition for most of us but some folks know the odds and how to use them to their advantage. Don't assume this is due to gambling losses.
Only poker players can win consistently in casinos--unless the chair rent or pot percentage is high. The best bet is the Don't Pass Line on the craps table and it's still a 1.4% disadvantage. Sth suspicious abt a gambler who frequents casinos and wins.
I'm guessing the people that make a living gambling don't gamble $30,000 a day or a week.
I'm guessing it's a much more conservative and careful affair.
I didn't think he could end up being more of an asshole.
Clearly you people don't visit casinos. Insider secret for Libertarians here:
They have player cards with benefits for amount bet per day/year. The trick is to put down $1000 at a table to cash into chips and then pocket the chips you don't want to lose. Then you do this at a few other tables and over a few day period.
The casinos think you lost "x" amount of that cash turned to chips. They cannot keep track and you get players credit for comp rooms, etc.
Its how people like me stay at casinos for free.
You people really need to get out.
They know with high accuracy how much you win and lose, regardless of how much you exchange. Don't kid yourself.
The real secret, if you want to risk it - take $5k, bet $500 on black at the roulette wheel for 3 hrs and pray green doesn't show more often than expected. Get diamond status overnight.
As someone who does this- I can tell you with 99% first hand knowledge, the casinos have trouble keeping track.
There are more tricks to this but casinos send me cash certificates to get me to come back and comp rooms.
I like your line of thought here...
They cannot keep track
I thought that was the point of the card. Does it still count if they don't register your losses on the card?
His plan appears to be putting money on the card, taking it out in the form of untraceable chips, not spending the chips, and the casino assuming he lost his money, while he can redeem the chips later, after he has been given free stuff
Never been to a casino myself, so no idea how this works
It was not clear whether those transactions were wins or losses.
Blackjack? Gee, I wonder if he won or lost.
His brother said he was a multi millionaire.
Well, I assume he was wealthy to buy 2 properties, a bunch of weapons, and able to afford the gambling. I dont know if he lost a lot, but you dont buy a 300K home without having some cash in the bank.

Looks like Tom Petty went full Carrie Fisher this morning. God, what a shitty day.
Don't judge. You don't know how it feels to be him.
I really like Tom Petty's music and am quite sad about this. That makes me feel even worse about laughing. You are a real monster.
He is awesome and I hope he recovers and has many more happy years.
Oh, shit, now they say he died.
Well, now I'm officially the world's biggest jerk.
No bigger jerk than all of us who laughed at your post. I know I did. It was funny.
I just hope TMZ is wrong about them pulling life support.
TMZ is reporting they took him off life support. Mercury News reports he was put on life suport. Take your pick.
I'd go with tmz
Are you sure you didn't misread TMZ and TMZ was having their life support pulled?
Wiki already updated:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Petty
CBS says it confirmed he died.
The Miami Herald and SPIN also say he died.
Billboard and Google are putting him as dead, also...sadly, I sense a pattern...
I just looked at google news, and suddenly all references to him have disappeared. Apparently the news that he died originated with the police, not from his spokespeople. His web site makes no mention. So who knows?
Tom Petty? @tompetty 4h4 hours ago
With "She's The One" Director Ed Burns at The Village Recorder, Los Angeles CA - 1996 (
Tom Petty twitter account and no mention of death by entourage.
April Fools joke?
My first thought, upon reading the news, was about being really sick this spring when my brother had an extra ticket for me for this Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tour and was thus unable to go. It looks like there won't be a 'next time' for me to catch them instead.
Tom Petty was an ardent believer in pseudoscientific meditation-as-medicine bullshit, for the record.
I'm interested to see what the cause of death is.
Also, in the past 12 hours, more people have died from drug overdoses than died from the Las Vegas shooting.
Don't work, the jackboots will come down for both drugs abuse and this shooting.
If you die of a drug overdose, you are to blame. None of the people this freak murdered are to blame for their fate. So, that is not a valid comparison.
I'm only pointing out that these shootings are extremely rare and statistically negligible so we shouldn't base any policy around them. Banning guns and banning drugs produce the same exact results. Forcing business into the black market, increasing violence and funding gangs. Legalize everything.
Drug prohibition is to blame. Drugs would be much safer if legal.
Or decriminalized, as in Portugal. Decriminalization has had no downside, and Portuguese banks are so popular they can actually charge more than regular EU banks.
Very sad, need to go and listen to Southern Accents...
I'm Free Fallin'....
Great album. He was born a rebel, on a Sunday morning, down in Dixie.... Uh oh.

Cops never miss a chance to prop up our need for them. Security and safety will trump freedom; reasonable infringement and authoritarianism will displace rights, and the masses will celebrate.
"In Las Vegas, the only official record of Paddock had to do with a citation issued years ago and settled in typical fashion."
What is they "typical" way of settling a citation in Las Vegas?
You have to hand out those porno cards for X amount of shits.
I think they sit you down in a chair in some casino storage room and Laurence Fishburne punches the crap out of you.
Harsh but fair.
Flintlocks at Dawn?
Wondering how they hell he got so many weapons through the hotel up to his room. I always assumed those big Las Vegas hotels had metals detectors and stuff. You can't get even a knife into into a casino, but apparently that only applies to the casino part of the hotel.
Not even close. They don't check bags and don't have metal detectors. They usually will ask you to leave if they see a weapon but it's not against the law to carry legal weapons into a casino. I'm sure many folks are carrying concealed that never get noticed (that is the point after all) or hassled. Getting that many rifles into a Vegas hotel would be as easy as stuffing them into a golf travel case.
No detectors, no bag check. No issue for decades. Why would they have checked?
They will now....
We're only talking about 15 to 20 guns. A couple of big bags could hold those.
Trump's gotta be pissed. WTF is he gonna tweet about?
"This never would have happened in a Trump casino. Bad!"
Trump Casinos and MGM Casinos have had a long rivalry in Atlantic City. I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if he blamed MGM's management for this happening at the Mandalay Bay.
Which is more likely: guy had houses in two towns both named Mesquite or typical cop / credit report caliber cornfuddlement?
I blame Equifax.
He loved that sweet smoky flavor.
Mesquite, NY quietly changes its name to Maple.
Canadian ambassador declares it a "sticky situation."
So Tom Petty is dead? I saw him back in late '77(or early '78?).Tour was for You're Gonna Get It The Kinks were the headliners (Sleepwalker tour), Blondie was the opening act.
Great show, really great, as good as you would expect. I think the ticket was $6 + a 25 cent ticketron charge.
Apropos of nothing but memory lane; way back in the stone ages (1984) I worked for a guy who claimed he played drums for Tom Petty pre-Damn the Torpedoes days. My boss left the gig because he decided Mr. Petty would never amount to anything. The business, by the way, was picking up construction garbage...
Anyone remember him from his stint on Briscoe County? Cool character, cool show, canceled too soon.
His A&R man said he didn't hear a single.
Loved his cameo in The Postman.
"LVMPD Sheriff Joseph Lombardo told CNN. "I don't know how it could have been prevented.""
Which might be the most intelligent comment so far.
Unless he follows it up with "But I will certainly find out."
Doesn't stop the New York Times from proposing 7 gun control measures, none of which would have helped in this case.
Ban the sale of all assault weapons in the United States.
And there goes Amsoc for "least intelligent comment so far".
Brilliant! And while you're at it, ban heroin! That'll keep all the junkies from getting or using it, right?
Ban guns for people over 60
ISIS is INSISTING that they guy acted on their behalf, calling him "Abu Abd El Bar"
Chances are they're desperate to remain relevant after being pounded and routed by the coalition. 58 casualty is a huge number for one attacker. But it's also strange that this this guy wasn't under ANY radar. Even that guy who shot up girls because he hated them for ignoring him left rambling FB posts and was visited by the police.
When you stock pile that many guns, you have to be deranged or possibly part of something. But the guy wasn't a loner. My best guess is that he snapped after a bad gambling loss.
My best guess is that he snapped after a bad gambling loss.
Well, a gambling loss that bad shouldn't be hard to uncover.
Obviously it's time for commonsense casino control!
^This
My theory is he was a poker player. Used to be good enough to mostly break even or win. Get's in his 60s and suddenly he's not as mentally quick as he used to be. Starts losing. Then losing big. Soon all the money's gone and his trophy girlfriend dumps him to go find a new sugar daddy.
Goes full "Falling Down" on the way out.
His girlfriend was no "trophy", although he might have thought she was. No accounting for taste.
Wasn't Michael Douglas the only person that died in falling down?
I think he killed the Neo Nazis.
I don't agree. This looks to me like a premeditated, preplanned attack. We don't know for certain whether he brought his weapons with him initially, but we do know that he checked into Mandalay Bay on Thursday. So either he went to the trouble to drive over an hour back home to Mesquite, load up the car with his weapons, and drive over an hour back to the hotel after he "snapped", or he brought all his weapons with him to the hotel three days ahead of time (which seems much more likely to me).
Also, if he snapped because he just lost a bunch of money, why would he target concert-goers instead of gamblers and employees on the casino floor? And we also know that ISIS sympathizers seem to like targeting concerts, as big music concerts are something that the "decadent" west really likes.
Really... especially the kind of music that attracts beer users who disrespect Sharia law.
This.
I'd know when he booked the room, and if he specified any preferences. Unless Mandalay bay has a sh'ton of available rooms, wouldn't "on the Strip, overlooking a concert" be a premium spot that needed to be booked at least a couple of days in advance?
I would bet big money that we're going to find out that this was yet another pissed-off Leftist who decided to act on his hatred of Republicans and Trump. The big clue is that he attacked a country music concert, not a venue that appeals to a lot of liberals and minorities. He was quite deliberately targeting people for what he to be presumed their political opinions.
When that DOES come out, the Left will ignore it as much as possible, and make it another debate over guns rather than their own deadly intolerance. Or, they'll just outright lie and try to claim he was a conservative, as they did with Jared Loughner.
Those were not necessarily gambling losses.
Pro gamblers put large amounts of cash on the table to gain casino credits and then only gamble with a small portion of the cash turned to chips.
Having a bunch of weapons does not make someone deranged or part of something. If anything you are smart to have so many guns that the government cannot take them all.
You don't like guns, so a similar "deranged syndrome" reference would be why you need so many electronic gadgets.
When you stock pile that many guns, you have to be deranged or possibly part of something.
False
From what I read the guy had an arsenal, not like a dozen guns. But I could be wrong.
So what?
couple shotguns, AR-15, hunting rifle, .22 rifle for squirrels, pistol for concealing, semi-auto pistols around house, revolvers around the house, MP-5 submachine gun, Steyr Aug, M-60 machine gun, .50 cal Barretts rifle. Ammo for all said weapons.
Nobody NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDZ that many GUNZZZZZ!!!!
sez WHO? Did he use them ALL? I've known one guy has over six thousand long guns in his garage....... he's not even a dealer.
And who are YOU to say how many guns someone needs? Not a very libertarian attitude you've got there.
^ This. 30 guns is not unusual for an enthusiast.
And four boxes of 22 LR is thousands of rounds.
Well, if Islam says it, I believe it, that settles it!
"when you stockpile that many guns......"
under what twisted notion of propriety do you make this claim? The numbers I've seen so far are not that large. I know quite a few normal decent folk who own at least that many, some own many more. SO what??
I also know someone who has a few hundred Mickey Mouse watches, and another chap with several hundred Lionel trains from the 1950-'s and 60's. Someone else I know owns well over a dozen Mercedes sedans, and another about four hundred antique European hand crank coffee mills. Yet one more had a whole cigar box packed with old railroad "dollar watches", some folks just like to collect stuff. SO what?
Oh, I know... it's "wierd" because guns kill people, right? Well, no, not quite. Most folks only use one gun at a time, a few might use two simultaneously. NO ONE can use even a dozen at the same time. So every gun he's got over the most he can fire at one time is one gun someone else can't be using for evil.
a few might use two simultaneously
Chow Yun Fat is an amazing guy, I agree.
Well, this explains it!

If you're asking about the publisher, yes she has.
She has been running at least one "Trump is a poopyhead" article on page one, often half the page, and if it has to be a stretch, so be it (trying to remember one of the sillier ones)

RE: Las Vegas Shooter Stephen Paddock: What We Know So Far
No clear motive or explanation is readily available for the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, which left 58 dead and more than 500 injured.
Its the gun's fault it killed those people.
The gun didn't take its meds.
This is what happens when guns with mental disorders don't listen to their doctors and take their prescribed medications.
Thank God for the 2nd Amendment then, because it looks like politicians and losers like Hillary are already looking to take our guns away.
Guns have such great totemic power; can we truly blame him for not being strong enough to stand against the patriarchal mojo of such a phallic device as an automatic weapon? He's the real victim here...
Normal dude with no criminal history rents two rooms facing a venue where a well known country music festival is held, brings up to 15 rifles with him and enough ammo to shoot up the place for the better part of an hour is not a distraught gambler. There is intent to commit mass murder there. My guess, and it's only a guess, is he's angry about the election or Trump's policies and picked a venue that would attract a largely conservative crowd to avenge the election or hurt those he felt are responsible.
Just a guess but he's didn't just crack. He had an agenda.
Interested in his medical history as well. Recent diagnoses, et cetera. Curious to know if he pulled a Jack Ruby.
Nah.
The more I read about this whole situation, the more an alternative theory may be presented here. Yes, this is just speculation:
The shooter was found dead when they breached his room. His death was an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Is it possible that this man was merely a victim of an unknown shooter?
Hear me out here and contemplate this scenario: An unknown shooter becomes friends with the "known" shooter and visits him in his room (no forced entry). This unknown person shoots who we are determining to be the shooter and proceeds to shoot the people down below.
As forensics do their investigation, if this is the truth, it will come out when they do carbon testing on the man's hands.
Interesting hypothesis to say the least. I'm curious how right I may be...
This makes more sense to me than someone with a good life and no other problems and no political claim just mass killing people for no reason.
Try Occam's Razor.
Ooooo. Good one. It would be a simple matter to burn some powder near the hands--the cheek will already test positive--then do the amok thing, then walk to another room in the same hotel. Does Reason have a crime lab chemist on retainer?
And then manages to spend several minutes opening fire on the crowd, but manages to time things so that he can exit the hotel before police arrive and casually leave the room without being seen? And hope nobody happened to see him walking out of that room shortly after the gunfire stopped?
Sounds like the plot from a film and not a situation which takes into account real-life randomness. I'd wager that there were people in rooms on that floor at that very time who were unaware someone was opening fire on a crowd due to very mundane reasons-loud music, watching tv, loud drunken partying. Any sounds they may have heard they could have assumed were pyrotechnics connected to the nearby concert. How did this criminal mastermind plan to make sure no one like this would fail to see him enter and leave the suspect's room?
Surely the hotel has cameras in the halls?
This isn't as far fetched as it might sound.
1. Lots of innocent people in the nearby hotel rooms, so simply being there is not grounds for suspicion.
2. Most people on the inside of the hotel would not know which room the shooting was coming from, so would not especially notice someone coming out of that room.
3. They didn't find the body until an hour after the shooting started; that probably means at least 40 minutes after the shooting stopped. Plenty of time to blend in to the crowd.
Halls in hotels always have security cameras. Or else Investigation ID totally lied to us.
I had a similar notion, given that the shooting seemed so at odds with what we knew about the suspect's character. But now that it turns out he was collecting a massive arsenal at home, it seems a lot less at odds with it.
They're saying now that the shootings went on for over an hour. So the "real shooter" killed him (without anyone having heard that first shot) a good 72 minutes before the end of the incident? I would think that the forensics would catch that much of a disparity in the time of death.
The key question, especially with mystical berserkers rushing to claim credit, is: where did he go to church? If the Saracens are reprogramming other religious conservatives for coercive practices of their own, it would be better to find out sooner rather than later.
Maduro to Spanish PM Rajoy: Who's the Dictator Now?
Um. Still you?
Makes me think of this.

Did I hear right at the press conference that a reporter asked the chief if Paddock was employed by the federal government?
18 more guns, explosives, thousands of rounds of ammo, and "some electronic devices."
That would put him in the lower half of gun enthusiasts I've known, actually.
Ten to one, someone knew he had issues, and reporting would be the right thing; however, thanks to obozo he screwed that up big time revamped PC world common sense requirements have been litigated into the toilet (putting it mildly).
Dang nabbit now they gonna try and take all our guns. The governments always try to take away my guns. How else I gonna protect my family against all the niggers? Us whites are outnumbered by all the niggers and spics and ragheads in this country. We needs our guns to defends ourself. Why else we have guns?
I'm guessing commie kid thinks this is very clever, right commie kid?
Sod off, troll.
Al Capone was in Florida when the Valentine's Day Massacre occurred in Chicago, but he got blamed anyway. I guess the ladyfriend wasn't famous enough to be assigned blame.
As was Bugsy Seigals girlfriend.
' 15 to 20'
That's a huge range. If we could narrow that down it would certainly give readers a better sense of what his motivations were.
'More than an hour elapsed from when the shooting began to when a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department SWAT team broke down Paddock's hotel room door'
This certainly puts into perspective the statement that the police Can't protect you from everything.
When are we going to start pointing out the fact that this is increasingly appearing to be a crime of negligence.
'More than an hour elapsed from when the shooting began to when a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department SWAT team broke down Paddock's hotel room door'
I do not know this to be true, but I heard he broke a window and shot out of that.
Are we to believe the hotel has no alarm system which signals a broken window?
Further; there were other people on that floor; none of them called the desk and said anything about the noise? None called 911?
An HOUR?
I have no 'theories', but there is a lot here that gets stuck passing the sniff test.
No I don't think there's anything that has an alarm that tells you the window broke, also I'm sure people were calling instantaneously, I think the real problem here is that from the time that the SWAT team is notified, to the time it can arrive and actually take action, you looking at an excess of an hour. police forces Nationwide are going to have to start asking themselves the tough questions about how they respond to active shooter situations.
SWAT teams aren't stopping anything, they're merely securing the crime scene and cleaning up at this point.
Or breaking down pot smokers doors and shooting their dogs.
They do what they can.
I just have to rant about a tweet I came across
the actor who plays Jonah Ryan on Veep had this to say
When a 64 year old white man kills 58 and wounds 500 in fifteen minutes from 1200 feet with a knife, I will absolutely call for knife control. Until then, you've made the world's shittiest point.
Don't you just love the arrogance? So it is a given that knife control would work, first of all, but he has not deemed it necessary to pursue because there haven't been enough knife murders at a given time. So when there are enough knife murders for him to care about, then we'll talk about it. God, I fucking hate celebrities.
damn tags, the third part is the tweet
Well, at least it's easy to see that playing a politician makes the actor as smart as one of them.
Actually, the politician he plays is an idiot.
So he's as smart as his character on Veep.
Someone should tell him it's the same argument ss to why we don't put in a Muslim ban when they kill a bunch of people. Unless he's for that, then I'd give him points for consistency.
The only thing worse than the misinformation,
Is the story reporting the misinformation.
http://money.cnn.com/2017/10/0.....index.html
So the 'misinformation' was that the shooter was a CNN viewer? A Hillary supporter? A lefty?
But we don't know that he wasn't yet.
It might not BE misinformation. These are people, after all, who located Shia LeBoeuf's flag from some contrails, a date stamp, and the angle of shadows.
One of the news reports yesterday mentioned Tannerite when mentioning "explosives" found at his home.
Why do they never mention medications/prescriptions? In this case, in vowing to get to the cause, law enforcement announced it would check family, friends, bank & credit card accounts, weapons stashes, everything in his home, but-- as seemingly always in these cases, somehow -- they never mention his medicine cabinet or pharmacy prescription records. Lots of these cases where there is "no apparent motive" turn out to be a guy on the wrong meds or who just went off his meds. Just search "stephen paddock prescriptions" for the possibilities and speculations on this.
