...President Donald Trump launched his new push to overhaul the tax code.
A worthwhile endeavor that will go nowhere.
Like everything he does, it was just pablum and blather with no substance.
What a great "deal maker" he is -- not.
An odd way to discuss yourself, but quite apropos!
Give credit where credit is due- RINOs, Democrats, and the lefty judges should get awards for preventing overhaul of the corrupt Washington DC bureaucracy. These people know how to get PAID!
You are actually naive enough to believe that the Con Man Eminent Domainer really believes in small government.
You really are. Amazing.
Smaller government- yes.
Small government- probably not.
You lefties are scared of any shrinking of government.
I dare say no one running for office is for small government. They all want to use the power of their office to pass laws that help people in some way, which is a key to getting re-elected.
You're probably right as even Rand Paul does not seem like he is for small government.
I think we would be lucky if Rand Paul supported a 50% cut in federal outlays.
Hello.
It's me again.

Shirtless, I hope.

I have no chance of understanding what happened here.
COURT: ILLEGAL ALIENS WIN A VICTORY, FOR NOW
"[Judge] Garcia halted the part of the bill that required jail officials to honor all detainers, and another that prohibits "a pattern or practice that 'materially limits' the enforcement of immigration laws.
"The detainer provision, he said, would violate the Fourth Amendment
"Garcia did let stand one of the most controversial portions of the law ? allowing police officers to question the immigration status of people they detain.
"Because the inquiry into status isn't a prolonged detention, he said, it wasn't enjoined. But he explained that officers who make the inquiry are limited in what they can do with the information.
""If during a lawful detention or arrest an officer obtains information that a detained or arrested individual is undocumented he may not arrest the individual on this basis," he said, adding that the officer is not required to ask the question. But he said if the officer feels like they should, they can only share the information."
It just means a cop can't arrest a guy simply for being an illegal alien - but any cop who can't find or make up half-a-dozen reasons to arrest any random person walking down the street right off the top of his head isn't much of a cop.
Illegal aliens are in violation of federal law. Does the judge think that if you admit to any other violation of federal law, the state or local officer can't detain you for it? Assuming no federal warrant is standing. And it's just the admission of the crime.
To be fair, illegal aliens have a constitutional right to be here.
They are unbanning the state from not undoing the prohibition on cities from never not blocking deportation.
Texas became slightly less racist today.
Really? Which Democrat died?

It's federalism all the way down.
Russia is preparing to hold large-scale military exercises it says will be of a purely defensive nature
Yeah, but our polling indicates a lot of people here find Russia offensive.
"Russia is preparing to hold large-scale military exercises it says will be of a purely defensive nature, amid concerns in neighboring nations that the drills may be used as a precursor for an invasion."
No one said invasions and defense are mutually exclusive!
Indeed. Our very own Dept of Defense is currently conducting exercises on the other side of the world. The world will be a safer place once other countries stop situating themselves so close to our military bases.
preemptive is the first defense

The Slow Me state
Two explosions have been reported at a flooded chemical plant near Houston.
Worse than when that Mentos plant was flooded with Coke.
In response to Trump tweet, Mexico reiterates it won't pay for the wall
http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/27/.....index.html
They've got their own wall on the Guatemala border to build.
Mexico will pay for the wall. Less illegals to send money from the USA to Mexico.
?A federal district judge issued a temporary injunction yesterday blocking parts of Texas' anti-sanctuary cities law from going into effect.
So, according to the courts, it is equally illegal to enforce a federal law the feds ignore AND to enforce a federal law the feds are enforcing.
Also don't see how the federal court has any say here as ANY authority cities have derives from the state giving it to them. Texas can also choose to remove ALL governmental authority from cities and not violate any law as the Constitution deals with states.
Federalism is bad again. Keep up
Its a BS decision. States have absolute control over inferior jurisdictions within the state, like a city.
Its why the states have constitutions, not cities and counties.
How We Can Make the Liberty Movement More Appealing
Be Civil
There is nothing more remonstrating and repelling than being insulted by your opposition who, instead of providing you with a well thought out counterpoint to an argument, claim that you are too uneducated to even think for yourself.
Commonly, on social media, the most pitiful and playground-like debates arise, leaving both participants angrier and less accepting of the others opinion than before.
https://goo.gl/FcE2wP
We, as libertarians, are in desperate need of counseling.
Living in Scotland away from the heart of the liberty movement in America, I have noticed from the outside many headaches and obstacles we need to overcome if we are to create more belief in our now quite isolated ideology ? even if we dislike simplifying.
Especially through social media, many of us libertarians have developed a habit of rejecting any serious enquiries or suggestions from either the left or right. Despite our disagreements, we need to be accommodating and civil towards such curious people in order to provide true and factual counterpoints instead of immediately branding anyone who disagrees with us as "Statist", "Marxist" or "Dumb Lefty."

This is great advice for libertarians and life in general. But it doesn't really apply here. This comment section is an echo chamber, a fighting pit for cosmos and yokels, and a bathroom wall. It's just for entertainment, not for proselytizing.

""A group of Durham [NC] Public Schools teachers who posed for a photo re-enacting the toppling of a Confederate statue in Durham were competing for doughnuts.
"The post, circulated on social media, showed a dozen people at The School for Creative Studies holding yellow crime-scene tape, like the yellow strap used to bring down the monument on East Main Street earlier this month.
"They appear to be kicking what looks like a classroom skeleton, in imitation of the protesters who kicked the Confederate statue after toppling it during a demonstration in response to the white supremacist march in Charlottesville, Virginia. Eleven people have now been arrested in connection with the Aug. 14 incident."
More doughnuts is not something that group needs.
Looking at the size of some of the participants I can understand their motivation, but considering the name of the school, you'd think a little more creativity and effort would have been employed than just a lame Antifa cosplay.
The terrifying science behind floating fire ant colonies ? and how to destroy them
I'm scared.
You can't make me subscribe to that site, jabroni.
Then I guess you'll never know how to destroy a fire ant colony, candy ass.
Obviously not with fire, lugnuts.
When the fire ant flotilla comes my way, I will be prepared, while as are being stung to death by millions of hideous creatures you will say to yourself, "Crusty was right - I am a dingleberry."
They die to molten aluminun being poured fown their nests.
Fire can kill a fire ant.
Fire can kill a fire ant.
Nice try, but I'm not falling for that again.
Soap?
Yes, soap. That's why Crusty is so terrified.
What did Pink Panther say when he squished an ant?
Dead ant......dead ant...dead ant dead ant dead ant...dead ant.
water ants?
Get on Netflix. There was an episode of the original MacGyver series where Mac had to deal with a flotilla of army ants.
Still, if you are otherwise safe, dry and have easy access to both floating ants and soapy water, "it does make a cool gee-whiz experiment," Hu said

Kanye West Fans Will Counteract Taylor Swift's Album Release With "Hey Mama" Day
The Reddits and the Twitters will destroy us all.
It's hard to tell the fake controversies from the real ones.
Well, at least it shows the enthusiasm which led their respective fans to make them rich - assuming they're minimally competent these two artists should be wealthy beyond the dreams of avarice.
Competent at not blowing money - they're obviously more than competent at music, so I'm told.
It's hard to tell the fake controversies from the real ones.
All controversies are fake except for the real ones.
Example: Joel Osteen being a douche - real. Melania's shoes - fake.
"Basically, we have the idea to repeatedly stream a singular Kanye song on that date," says the post. "Hopefully getting that song the #1 spot on daily streams over any of Taylor's songs. We are focusing on a single song as it will be much easier to concentrate our efforts into that, than say a whole album getting to #1."
Ends. Of. The. Earth.
I tried a similar plan to get people to repeat play Der Ring des Nibelungen.
Why should anyone invest a fuck or even a damn in this?

Oral sex is lame.
Scott McGehee & David Siegel Plan Female-Centric 'Lord Of The Flies' At Warner Bros
Damn Hollywood feminists ruin everything!
It is a timeless story that is especially relevant today, with the interpersonal conflicts and bullying
But having it be all girls instead of all boys will somehow make it better.
I can't imagine how such a project could be given a feminist spin - unless they totally reverse the thrust of the novel, the idea is that kids cut off from civilization revert to savagery (that and a bit of cynicism about the savage nature of "civilization" itself).
So a bunch of *extremely* mean girls persecuting each other without any men to blame for their actions - I'd love to see the feminist spin.
I mean, I can see the feminist angle for an all-woman Ghostbuster, sisters doing it for themselves.
But this would be sisters doing it *to* themselves.
Thereby proving men are horrible.
Or they will bowderlize the whole story and have the girls work together in peace and harmony learning how to be badass survivalists so no female character looks bad.
Wait what about Simon being a Christ-like figure. Now what, Simona? Is nothing Sacred?!
It will be all fat-shaming and tickle-fights?
They'll passive-aggressive each other to death.
Fat shaming was already an integral part of the story. See the character "Piggy".
And you thought the book was brutal...
I...don't think it will have the same message as with all boys. Somewhat ironically, it's because I don't think anyone will believe a group of young girls would revert to the same type of savagery indicated in the book itself. Amusingly this movie could very well illustrate the illogic in assuming that men and women are identical in all ways. That obviously wasn't the point of Lord of the Flies, but this is what happens when you change the source material: it changes the message.
Prediction: Won't be nearly as funny as the first one.
"We want to do a very faithful but contemporized adaptation of the book, but our idea was to do it with all girls rather than boys,"
This is why they get the big bucks. Genius. Pure genius.
"To solve the problem that few Americans are interested in small government," Sheffield explained, "Rothbard argued that libertarians needed to align themselves with people they might not like much in order to expand their numbers." These people included Evangelical Christians and neo-Confederates (i.e., white supremacists) who despised the federal government ? especially after it stepped in to defend the civil rights of oppressed African-Americans in the South during the 1960s.
Paleo-libertarianism was, in other words, a thoroughly reactionary ideology that combined the very worst aspects of both libertarianism and right-wing populism. This makes it distinct from the broader libertarian movement, which tends to be more socially liberal or at least socially tolerant. The "alt-right" was an outgrowth of this unholy alliance.
https://goo.gl/XX3t1s
There is no "alt-right". Racist neo-Nazis are lefty socialists.
They want to use government to eradicate non-whites, just like Democrats tried with the Tuskegee experiments and South American syphilis experiments.
Racist neo-Nazis are lefty socialists.
If you keep saying it, one day someone will surely agree with you.
At the very least, they are collectivists, which is the complete opposite of what libertarianism is all about. Attempts to conflate the two are disingenuous smears.
Rothbard had some creative ideas for political coalitions - but then, I don't see how his schemes were any worse than the cosmotarian plans for an alliance with the Left.
Are you a new commenter or a glib by another name?
Well the Nazis are the National Socialist German Worker's party. Maybe you're correct and the Nazis were/are not socialists who wanted/want to control the means of production via their racist government.
And neo-Nazi are exactly Nazis, hence the neo- prefix. They are exactly the same in every way. Exactly.
How are neo-Nazis different than Nazis?
White- check.
Racist- check.
Want to use government to get rid of non-white people- check.
Socialists- check
They are different in every way. Ev...ery...way.
Are they socialists? I really don't know. But simply using the name doesn't mean they are ideologically identical.
If you must use left/right to describe everything, I think that Nazis are probably left in some ways and right in others. The socialism is left-wing, but their ideas about maintaining some kind of traditional or natural racial order and fighting changing racial demographics is very much a right-wing thing.
The media constantly calling them "right wing" is a problem, since it implies some connection to the more mainstream American right which really doesn't exist. But calling them "left wing" isn't a whole lot better. In the context of American politics, they really don't fit in with left or right.
It still has Nazi in the name, and LC1789 just pointed out what Nazi stood for, so yeah you'll need to explain how these jackasses aren't national socialists.
I don't find the left - right dichotomy particularly useful when talking about these guys either, but let us not pretend the ethos they praise isn't socialist in nature when they specifically endorse socialism as a means to elevate the White race above all others.
Remember, kids, being a leftist socialist doesn't mean you aren't also a racist fuckwad. In fact, it's virtually a requirement throughout history!
BYODB: Not that you fall for leftist media propaganda, but I think the biggest reason people say neo-Nazis are "right" politically on a spectrum is because it sounds correct.
As you pointed out, racists can be on the left or right of that spectrum.
Hitler was never elected into office. The Nazi Party never gained a majority in the Reichstag but there was mass violence on the streets between the lefty Communists, lefty Socialists, and lefty Nazis. President von Hindenburg appointed Hitler as Chancellor to try and end the violence, partly caused by Nazis.
Nazis used revolutionary tactics just like other lefty socialists and lefty Communists. Revolution is a tactic used by lefty groups to take over government from conservatives.
Right-wing Conservatives don't use revolution to take over government they use slow processes that have overwhelming support. Of course, we all know that the Founders were not fully conservative and did use revolution to free themselves. Hence, the Centrist Libertarian location on the left-right spectrum.
I don't really give much of a shit about WW2 era Nazism. The fact of the matter is these modern Nazi specifically endorse socialism.
One day you will finally admit it is correct.
There is no correct or incorrect when using over-simple political labels that fail to adequately describe the groups they attach to.
Ah. Wanting to make things overly complex.
Why label anything to simply our lives? Everyone is a complete enigma, says Zeb.
Lefty is anything to the left of Centrist Libertarianism on the spectrum. Anarchists, Liberals, Communists, Fascists, Nazis, Progressives, Socialists, Democrats, neo-Nazis, revolutionaries, etc.
Right-wing are anything to the right of centrist Libertarianism. Conservatives, theocracies, monarchs, etc.
Nothing says "to each according to their needs" like sending 6 million to gas chambers!
Idiot.
But you gotta admit that the commie slave labor camps extracted from each according to their abilities.
And the commie solution to the obesity epidemic totally works.
Classic liberals can admit that there is nothing to like about the far left (socialism) or the far right (fascism) without taking sides with either.
Of course they can.
But you're not Liberalism Classic, you're New Coke.
Because there are no fascists on the left Butt. Mussolini was not a lefty socialist before he was a lefty fascist before he was a lefty Nazi sympathizer.
All to the left of Centrist Libertarianism (classical Liberalism).
Classical Liberals are so far to the right of these people that they might as well be Constitutionalist Conservatives.
Aw, poor Butt thinks "to each according to their needs" means Stalin did NOT send untold millions to their deaths in gulags or leave them for the Nazis to murder in gas chambers.
Not so fun fact: The original invention of mobile gas chambers based on adapted vans with the storage compartment sealed and exhaust redirected inside are attributed to Soviet NKVD commander Isay Berg.
Wow, the Communists and the Nazis had more in common than leftists previously thought.
""Nothing says "to each according to their needs" like sending 6 million to gas chambers!""
Socialist, Marxist governments do try to weed out whatever group(s) of people determined to be undesirable.
Well let's see, they selected a minority, publicly scapegoated them for the country's problems, and used that as the basis for TAKING ALL THEIR POSSESSIONS, and sending them to death camps, where they took the precious metals from the teeth of the corpses. From each according to his need.
Fun fact - the death camps came about because the German soldiers couldn't stomach day after day of executing people (including women and children) and filling mass graves with their bodies. Fearing a mutiny, they created the death camps and handed control to the SS, who had fewer hangups.
Fucking edit button.
From each according to his ability.
As I recall, Rothbard had the good sense to leave the Libertarian Party before he promulgated this paleo stuff; leaving the LP un-tarred by these associations.
This is what led to the whole Ron Paul Newsletter stuff, no?
Ron Paul helped found the Foundation for Rational Economics and Education in 1976. This think tank began publishing Ron Paul's Freedom Report newsletter
An example from said newsletter: "Given the inefficiencies of what DC laughingly calls the criminal justice system, I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal."
Of course, you're right. The founders of media are completely responsible for what is later printed. Why the founders of the NYT and WaPo are absolutely shamed over the crap that is printed in those media publications.
Conversely, I love some of those classic NYT articles like the one about how it's hard to police "Chinamen" because you can't tell them apart.
The first is a simple failure of integration: the news organisations that have traditionally comprised "mainstream" journalism have done little to welcome or encourage African-Americans, who are substantially underrepresented by comparison to their numbers in the overall population.

There are no bad aspects of libertarianism.
Bad- no.
Cruel, unsympathetic, greedy- yes.
Because if you expect everyone to be personally responsible, want charity to handle most humanitarian functions, and free market to control business dealings- you are cruel, unsympathetic, and greedy.
You get the kind of government you deserve and you deserve the kind of government you get. If you think people are basically good, there's less of a need for government. If you think people are basically bad, you need lots of government. Which group generally believes that we need a strong government because people are just naturally evil and greedy and selfish and unwilling to work together for the common good?
Not at all. Just fucking stupid.
Aw. Tony thinks Libertarians are stupid but his buddies, the lefties, are smart.
proving once and for all, Tony is a non-Libertarian idiot.
Tony's criteria for "not fucking stupid" requires a firm belief in the selflessness, wisdom, and virtue of politicians, if anyone's still wondering if it's possible to take him seriously as an intellect.

Yeah, real misogyny doesn't have a political stand - despite the media's obvious attempts to link it to "the right".
No kidding. I mean, it's not the 90's anymore kids.
I'm in League City TX and it is just amazingly bad here. There are dozens and dozens of houses flooded, most of them out of the "flood zone". We've got coworkers, friends, people from church, and people from our son's marching band who need help. We've been tearing out wet drywall and insulation so that mold is less likely. There are not enough restoration companies to go around. My house just barely escaped.
