If North Korea attacks South Korea, "a majority of Americans favor deploying U.S. troops."

I mean, MASH was a hit.

    1. Citizen X - #6   9 years ago

The reboot will have to make some pretty serious changes to Klinger's motivations.

    2. Rufus The Monocled   9 years ago

      Hello.

      CNN? Polls? Seriously Damon?

Man, those must some kind of cocktails they serve up!

      1. Bee Tagger   9 years ago

As long as it's not Root's usual cocktail of depressing and death-riddled links, I'm not going to complain.

        1. Chipper Morning, Now #1   9 years ago

Are Root's links more depressing than the links of others?

        2. Rufus The Monocled   9 years ago

You guys really know how to keep tabs on things.

    3. Mickey Rat   9 years ago

A majority of Americans favor defending a longtime free, democratic ally from a bizarre communistic totalitarian regime. Imagine that.

      1. Eek Barba Durkle   9 years ago

        'defending'

        1. Mickey Rat   9 years ago

The question was predicated on North Korea attacking South Korea.

      2. Eric   9 years ago

Most American's seem to still believe that South Korea is a backward land of peasants incapable of defending themselves. As opposed to a very wealthy, advanced nation perfectly capable of defending themselves (from their much less advanced and militarily inferior northern neighbor).
But I guess we gotta "put a boot in someone's ass" every so often in the name of freedom.

        1. Azathoth!!   9 years ago

Most American's seem to still believe that you help your allies

"Help" = Underwrite their security at massive expense to your own bloated budget?

You should run for congress, the MIC would fund your entire campaign.

    4. creech   9 years ago

Which troops? The sailors aboard a ballistic submarine cruising in the Sea of Japan?

      1. Agammamon   9 years ago

That would be way more ballsy than boomers are used to.

    5. CE   9 years ago

It's a good thing a majority approves, since 23,500 troops are already deployed (and have been for 64 years.)

The Trump administration is "quietly courting a few dozen House Democrats on tax reform."

The leaks are being whispered to reporters this time.

President Donald Trump's approval rating has dropped to 38 percent in a new poll.

    Sad.

    1. DJF   9 years ago

I thought that Reason already had a story that it had dropped to 33%?

So does this means that Trump is having a surge in popularity?

      1. Palin's Buttplug   9 years ago

One of those polls counted the illegals.

        1. Fist of Etiquette   9 years ago

Just like that decisive official poll last November!

          1. Rufus The Monocled   9 years ago

            PERMANENT! DECISIVE! SETTLED!

Key words in the left-wing lexicon that are meaningless.

  4. Citizen X - #6   9 years ago

"The average temperature in the United States has risen rapidly and drastically since 1980, and recent decades have been the warmest of the past 1,500 years, according to a sweeping federal climate change report awaiting approval by the Trump administration."

Surely some of those weather stations are due for an upgrade.

    1. Rhywun   9 years ago

Do I detect a note of skepticism in your voice?

God I hope Trump LOLs and tosses this in the shredder.

You mean the [quite mythical] consensus?

Because it's not an "entire global body of scientists" to begin with. And they're not priests, Tony. You may fancy them as such but they're not.

Against my better judgement I read the linked article (NYT - seriously?) and it's basically a gang of permanent government flunkies all ganging up on Trump with this. I can't for the life of me guess what makes them think he'll read it, let alone take it seriously.

Microsoft Chatbot Trolls Shoppers for Online Sex

The chatbot, tested recently in Seattle, Atlanta, and Washington, lurks behind fake online ads for sex posted by nonprofits working to combat human trafficking, and responds to text messages sent to the number listed. The software initially pretends to be the person in the ad, and can converse about its purported age, body, fetish services, and pricing. But if a would-be buyer signals an intent to purchase sex, the bot pivots sharply into a stern message.

Game of Thrones Uses IKEA Rugs As Capes

"These capes are actually IKEA rugs," Michele Clapton, an Emmy Award?winning designer, told an audience at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles last year. "We take anything we can," Clapton added with a chuckle as she described the process that goes into designing medieval garb. "We cut and we shaved [the rugs] and then we added strong leather straps. . . . I want the audience to almost smell the costume." The result is an IKEA-inspired cape that not only appears worn-in but also has the aesthetic of real medieval clothing.

I make my capes out of dragonstone.

Report reveals underground US haven for heroin, drug users

A safe haven where drug users inject themselves with heroin and other drugs has been quietly operating in the United States for the past three years, a report reveals.

None were known to exist in the U.S. until the disclosure in a medical journal, although several states and cities are pushing to establish these so-called supervised injection sites where users can shoot up under the care of trained staff who can treat an overdose if necessary.

I, A Fat, Beautiful Black Woman, Get Lots of Sex. Why Does That Bother You?

If you follow me on Twitter, then you know that I am sex-positive and discuss various topics related to sex all the time. It's no secret that I am openly non-monogamous, a believer in polyamory, and a size queen with no gag reflex who loves a big dick.

So you're just like Mike M?

There's politics involved in labeling. I alluded to that earlier when I used all the flowery descriptors for Usher's accuser. For most people, there are two categories of big girls: fat and thick.

Don't let fatness fool you. We get more sex than you guys think. Some of your faves not only desire our sex, but they prefer it. I have the DMs, private messages, and sexual track record to prove it.

Someone got paid to write this. America is wonderful, people.

What Lena Dunham and Donald Trump have in common

For Lena Dunham, the trigger is a long delay at JFK airport. "Morning Joe" and other cable news slights get the President going.

Both of these high-profile personalities tweet too much.

Each appeals to her/his respective base and fuels the fury of those who think otherwise.

    lol

    1. Palin's Buttplug   9 years ago

  20. Domestic Dissident   9 years ago

A bunch of rich, but stupid, idiots in Nancy Pelosi's exclusive San Francisco neighborhood (where many homes are valued at well over $10 million) didn't pay the property taxes on their private road for a couple of decades, and woke up one morning to find out that their street was put up for auction and sold.

ROFLMAO. Couldn't happen to a bunch of more wonderful limousine liberals. I hope those clever entrepeneurs put up a toll booth right in front of their house and charge then ten bucks each way.

    1. The Last American Hero   9 years ago

As someone commented yesterday, they should lease the parking spaces to nonprofits, who will put in Tiny Homes to house the homeless.

    2. Rhywun   9 years ago

You'd think the left would pause and wonder why "public servants" so often turn out to be the richest people in town.

      1. Domestic Dissident   9 years ago

And why they won't pay their taxes either that they insist the rest of us pay!

        1. Rhywun   9 years ago

Yeah, bribery and money laundering can't buy the biggest mansion in town all on their own.

          1. loveconstitution1789   9 years ago

The articles that I saw made a big deal to mention that Pelosi's husband is already a millionaire and downplay Pelosi also having made millions as a politician.

In other words, the media knows that people get pissed if politicians who made millions as public servants get used to further fuck the unwashed masses.

    3. loveconstitution1789   9 years ago

"...a toll booth right in front of their house and charge then ten bucks each way."
I was thinking the same thing.

      Haha.

    4. Red Rocks Baiting n Inciting   9 years ago

The best part is the couple bought it for an absolute song at $90K. They could easily recoup that in about a year just from selling parking passes for the road, and since these homes all have driveways, it won't really affect the homeowners.

The irony that anyone on the street could have easily purchased the road and they still got caught completely flat-footed by this shows how atomized and unengaged these people are with their neighbors. Something like this should have easily come up on their radar if they were getting tax notifications about it, but no one bothered to talk to anyone else about the situation, and now the new street owners are going to let in the proles to despoil their little paradise.

I think our involvement should be limited to air/naval support.

That's hard when pilots get shot down. Drones are not a major force yet. We use cruise missile though.

Point is that combat with one hand tied behind your back is a proven mistake. Actually Korea is a prime example of the USA having one hand tied behind its back during the Korean War. MacArthur defeated the North Koreans but China intervened. Truman publicly stated that nuclear weapons would not be used and fired MacArthur for publicly saying that we could use nukes to stop the Chinese hordes. Not that we would use nukes but had both hands available to fight.

Now we have this North and South Korea situation 65 years later.

    5. CE   9 years ago

Why the pluperfect fuck would we pay any attention to these imbeciles?

    1. Palin's Buttplug   9 years ago

The pre-election polls were accurate. They had Hil-Dog as a 2 point popular vote favorite and that was right on target.

I know that flies in the face of Trump alternate facts though.

I guess it's too bad the popular vote is meaningless, isn't it?

62% of people are tired of winning.

      1. Palin's Buttplug   9 years ago

Other polls have the Con Man at 33-35% - even lower than CNN. They must be "fake" too, right?

Why don't people like a lying scumbag politician anymore?

        1. $park? leftist poser   9 years ago

Obviously, people do like a lying scumbag politician. It's just that they only like the right lying scumbag politician.

I mean, it's not like politicians come in flavors other than "lying scumbag."

            1. loveconstitution1789   9 years ago

Well, calling Trump "Hitler" is reserved for lying scumbags and who try and dismantle the lefty Nanny/Police/Welfare State.

              1. Eric   9 years ago

Trump's trying to dismantle the police state? You sure about that?

        2. creech   9 years ago

A good number of my acquaintances who voted for Trump aren't happy with his performance either. But none of them regret voting for him vs. the alternative. The question is, who could the Dems put up in 2020 that could beat Trump even if his approval ratings are under 50% then?

          1. loveconstitution1789   9 years ago

I would be willing to bet its Republicans in Congress not repealing ObamaCare that would explain Trump getting blamed for that for those people.

I didn't vote for Trump but like some of what he has done I also hate that RINOs in Congress are not repealing ObamaCare and fixing the tax code. I think Trump foreign combat interventions are mistakes. The Syria ceasefire is good news.

Trump's "approval ratings" were low and Trump won the election. Its because the "approval ratings" are left tools to skew public opinion and are BS propaganda. Democrats are done as a political force.

    2. loveconstitution1789   9 years ago

President Donald Trump's approval rating has dropped to 38 percent in a new poll.
Says the losers of the election.

Why does anyone care what lefty media outlets say?

24/7 on air pants-shitting by Libtard News Networks probably count for a few % points.

        1. loveconstitution1789   9 years ago

Even funnier than lefty pant-shitting is that Republicans in Congress are doing more to prevent Trump from dismantling the Nanny-State lefties love than Anything lefties are doing- Including but not limited to lying about poll results.

      2. Tony   9 years ago

How wonderful it must be to be you people. Anything you don't like is fake news. You've passed the threshold into complete intellectual oblivion. You actually believe only what you want to believe.

        1. loveconstitution1789   9 years ago

There is whole bunch of fake news or better called propaganda out there and much of it comes from the lefty media.

The left has left behind any intellectual reality a LONG time ago.

Common lefty propaganda tactics include but are limited to: are taking stories and lying through purposeful omissions to skew a story, only getting one side of a story, only covering lefty agendas to make it seem like any other agenda is irrelevant, making up scientific results, making up poll results but not polling opposition voices....

          1. Tony   9 years ago

And all of this is revealed by the rigorous empirical methods of Sean Hannity and CNNisforcucks.com, I gather?

            1. loveconstitution1789   9 years ago

              Who is Sean Hannity?

Who knows is the point. Trump is going to get re-elected, so Trump's approval numbers are not that low to most Americans.

CNN (Commie News Network) is for cucks. Glad you agree.

              1. Tony   9 years ago

And when he's not reelected, it will be a conspiracy of the Jews. I mean globalists. I think we get it.

              Because nobody cares.

Aren't you getting that yet? No one cares about the endless whining coming from the left. Well, except leftists. And they only care that it's not seeming to convince anyone of anything and they don't understand why not--it's always worked before.

Gods help you if Congress finally wakes up and realizes you are all utterly irrelevant.

He has a bright future in congress or working for George Soros or something for sure.

It's hard to believe, but just four years ago many of the geniuses in the media were telling us that Kaepernick and RG3 were the quarterbacking wave of the NFL future. ROFL. Another brilliant, right on the money prediction.

So, it was warmer 1501 years ago? Wouldn't that be an argument for warming cycles being normal that humans barely impact?

Data about average global temperature gets less reliable the further back you go, obviously. You people want to insert a claim about warming cycles or whatever the fuck with no evidence or justification whatsoever because you don't want to believe what the science actually says, for whatever reason. Probably because you're tribalist morons who care more about being on the opposite side of liberals than being right.
