Democrats are strategizing on how to reingratiate themselves with working-class whites. Let's hope they come up with some better ideas this time around.

  • North Korea conducts a new missile test, which apparently went pretty well. Some experts are saying that the missile would have the capability to reach the United States' west coast.
  • Pakistan's Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, has resigned from office, after the country's Supreme Court ordered him removed over accusations of corruption.
  • Charlie Gard, the terminally ill infant who sparked international controversy over end-of-life issues, died today. A British court had ruled he be removed from the ventilator allowing him to breath yesterday.
  • In the wake of Obamacare repeal's failure, Vice has compiled a very helpful photo gallery of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell looking sad.

  1. Some experts are saying that the missile would have the capability to reach the United States’ west coast.

Someone’s really bucking for more food aid.

    1. Hello.

May anyone who had anything to do with killing that kid and not helping that family contract a most painful disease.

      /raises middle finger to Britain.

      1. It’s not so much not helping as refusing to allow anyone to help.

    2. Some experts are saying that the missile would have the capability to reach the United States’ west coast.

If they put it in a turtle ship…

      1. I, for one, understand your reference.

From what I’ve read, Jerry on the sea, they were quite effective for their time.

  2. Democrats are strategizing on how to reingratiate themselves with working class whites.

Without alienating the cult of SJW they’ve amassed?

    1. Seems like Trump already beat them to it with the “rough up brown people” encouragement for the police.

    2. They must think the white working class is pretty stupid. Do they seriously think they’re going to win them back when they’ve already let them know they’re going to shank them as soon as it’s politically expedient?

      Apropos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLHl5Ea9Yco

      1. It is like the coastal elites don’t understand that they have internet and these things called books in places like Omaha or Sandusky.

  3. Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, has resigned from office, after the country’s Supreme Court ordered him removed over accusations of corruption.

“You can’t fire me, I quit!”

  4. In the wake of Obamacare repeal’s failure, Vice has compiled a very helpful photo gallery of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell looking sad.

I wonder if turtles can even metabolize Zoloft.

    1. photo gallery of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell looking sad.

      It’s Turtle’s all-the-way frown?

  5. A British court had ruled he be removed from the ventilator allowing him to breath yesterday.

Government is just another word for the babies we choose to slowly asphyxiate together.

  6. A British court had ruled he be removed from the ventilator allowing him to breath yesterday.

A panel of judges ruled death was the official remedy to the situation?

    1. Village, save, kid.

    2. It spared him exposure to those scary experimental drugs, didn’t it?

      1. To be fair, the baby was probably brain damaged by that point. Even if he had lived he would have been severely disabled for life.

        1. So? We have congressmen.

    3. And don’t think we don’t notice the subtle attempt to get a death panel in there.

I’ve got my eye on you.

    4. And you thought the death penalty was obsolete in Europe.

  7. Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, has resigned from office, after the country’s Supreme Court ordered him removed over accusations of corruption.

    The Sharif don’t like it.

THERE. I said it so you don’t have to. YOU’RE WELCOME.

    1. But I did Nawaz the deputy.

  8. In the wake of Obamacare repeal’s failure, Vice has compiled a very helpful photo gallery of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell looking sad.

And we’re to take this journalistic organization seriously?

    1. Any more sass from you and they’ll release a mashup of the McConnell photos with gifs of Moynihan being baffled by things.

  9. MS-13 members: Trump makes the gang stronger

everal people familiar with MS-13, including two gang members themselves, told CNN they think Trump’s crackdown on immigrants is actually making MS-13 stronger because witnesses are more reluctant to come forward for fear of being deported.
“It’s not like before, where … they (the gang) were more hidden,” said Margarita, adding that a decade after fleeing violence in El Salvador she has never felt more afraid. “People can get deported, so they don’t call the police. So they (MS-13) feel more free.”

But a senior Trump administration official disputed that thinking.

“The reality is that we are removing MS-13 and other criminal gang members in very large numbers, and they are hurting,” the official said.
“As far as reporting crime is concerned, the biggest impediment as I said earlier, is sanctuary cities, where … illegal immigrant gang members are released from a prison or jail and then we have to go searching for them at great costs … and at great personal risk to the officers

Surely they can provide a list of some sort of the multitudes of violent criminals sanctuary cities have loosed onto the streets to prey on the innocent. Surely a Trump official wouldn’t just make some shit up that fits the narrative they’re trying to create.

      1. Why do you need a list? You can just tell those cities are full of crime simply by looking at all the immigrants!

    2. MS-13 is largely crime related to the Sinaloa Cartel. At last I read about it.

So, once again a better solution is to cut down on the drug bullshit.

  10. Democrats are strategizing on how to reingratiate themselves with working class whites.

More pictures of muscular men wielding hammers. And other farm implements.

    1. Look, if we’re going to go full Soviet era communism, that’s what you need.

      1. LET THE STRONG WIND OF CODING BLOW ACROSS OHIO

      2. *looks more closely into this “Communism” thing*

        1. You might think that’s how it would go, but a life of hard work, fear, and privation means that by age 35 everyone looks like modern-day Bernie Sanders. Men AND women.

        2. She had you at ‘muscular men’.

          1. It’s surprising how gay communism was, in retrospect.

    2. More pictures…

      And statues. Lots of statues.

  11. Where the Cocktail Party Came From

did she really invent the iconic party style, which Waugh defined as “start[ing] at half-past-five?lasts ninety minutes, at which alcohol is served but not much food”?

“at which so-called libertarians trade in their principles to be be-friended by the DC progs.”

    1. I haven’t looked at the entire list, but I did just learn this:

Paul Thomas Anderson described the frog scenes as the occurrence of a natural disaster, one of many found in a book in Paul’s collection. This was to affect all the characters in the film and break into their reality; in a way, unifying them all.

  12. Vice has compiled a very helpful photo gallery of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell looking sad.

I’ll catch that on NPR tonight.

    1. Hey, speaking of Vice, I saw Moynihan on last night interviewing some people with useless degrees about the state of the world, what’s up with his haircut? Put a small, square mustache on his face, you got Adolf Hitler.

        1. Crusty’s browser history is going to get him deported one day.

      1. How can their degrees be useless? They wanted people to notice them, so the degrees did their magic.

  13. Use a Makeup Sponge for Mess-Free Period Sex

Just insert one (or two, if you’re attempting day-one period sex) up to your cervix and you should be good for a couple of hours. They warm up quickly and feel just like the inside of a vagina, especially when they’re slick with?.well, the various fluids that might render them slick. Fingers may be able to feel them, but most penises?even condomless ones?will be none the wiser, and tongues won’t get anywhere near them.

After sex, simply bear down and fish the sponge(s) out ASAP. This operation is not for the faint of heart, and if this is after vigorous sex and/or sex with a very large penis or dildo, it might take a few minutes to hook your finger onto it. I’ve heard that the oversized ones are easier to extract, but I’ve never seen those at the drugstore. (Obviously, cosmetic wedges aren’t going to protect you from sexually transmitted diseases or do anything to prevent pregnancy?but it’s worth saying anyway.)

    News you can use!

    1. Now, I don’t have naughty lady parts, but this seems, on the face of it, to be a really bad idea.

    2. Whatever happened to just putting down a towel before and wiping off after?

      1. Whatever happened to just doing the poonpoon and not worrying about the consequences.

    3. This title reads like you’re being a thoughtful partner, but the article reads like you’re tricking him. Isn’t this literally what soft cups were invented for anyway? The comments are full of horror stories (“go spelunking for the missing sponge” lol), so probably best to take a pass on this hack.

  14. It wouldn’t be Friday without…

Teenage girl ‘raped in Birmingham train station attacked again by second man she begged for help’

Detectives said the teenager was first assaulted in a secluded part of Birmingham’s Witton railway station, near the Aston Villa football ground, some time between 7pm on Tuesday and 2am the following morning.

The victim had walked to the station with her friend, but was led away by a man who approached her.

Shortly after that attack, the girl walked out of the station and flagged down a passing vehicle to ask for help.

However, after getting in the car she was then raped a second time by another man.

    1. Being “led away” makes it sound consensual. Sure doesn’t sound like coercion.

      1. That’s how the writer’s describing it, and willfully following someone does not mean any sex that then occurs is consensual.

      2. Is it rape if the man lures the woman into his van with a trail of jolly ranchers?

        1. If a man gives you candy, there’s probably more in his van.
          — sez all the kids these days.

    2. Assuming they’ve been able to talk to the victim, why is there such a huge time disparity? 7 pm and 2 am is a pretty big window.

      1. It really doesn’t say, but if she was under the influence, it would explain a lot (why she can’t remember the exact time, why she allowed herself to follow a strange man, etc.).

  15. >>>A British court had ruled he be removed from the ventilator allowing him to breath yesterday.

    a. spell check.
    b. fuck you, British court.

    1. Court = deal panel

      1. death panel

        1. It is both of course.

          1. of course.

  16. Some experts are saying that the missile would have the capability to reach the United States’ west coast.

Joke’s on them. We already have the capability to wipe out the West Coast and all the other cities in the country.

  17. So, in your estimation

In addition to Healthcare, what _other_ portion of the US Economy will the Federal Government nationalize within the next five years?

    1. College tuition

    2. My money is on banking. Then energy and heavy industry (they’ll nationalize it to keep it alive).

  18. Trump has fired Rince Priebus and replaced him at Chief of Staff with DHS Secretary Gen. John Kelly:

“I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General/Secretary John F Kelly as White House Chief of Staff. He is a Great American….”

    1. He couldn’t have a paranoid schizophrenic as his chief of staff.

      1. Of course not, that position is already taken.

    2. Ahh, the court intrigue! How decadent.

  19. >>>the capability to reach the United States’ west coast

    bad thing?

    1. Maybe Shorty wants to help make America great again by taking out California.

  20. Some experts are saying that the missile would have the capability to reach the United States’ west coast.

Then why do they keep landing in the Sea of Japan?

    1. My car only drives 13 miles to work most days. That doesn’t mean it can’t go farther than 13 miles.

      1. I see you don’t drive an electric car either.

      2. My car can reach the West Coast. It has to make a dozen or so stops for refueling along the way, but it can be done.

  21. Ok, I’ll ask again…

Is there ANY FUCKING REASON WHATSOEVER that Reason has joined 98% of the popular media in completely refusing to cover the absurdly news-worthy story of Imran Awan?

    1. can’t talk. global warming.

    2. To be fair, is it really a major news event or is it just another shady DC staffer who was involved in some criminal activity. There have to be thousands of those.

      1. Exactly. Team Red is understandably crowing about it, but Reason =/= Team Red.

        1. But this DC staffer was an IT guy with access to dozens of members’ computers and worked directly under the head of the DNC during the election where their e-mails were hacked. The head of the DNC is on camera angrily confronting and threatening capital police over it, and she only fired him last week. He and his family members have made millions of dollars, much of which has been sent back to Pakistan.

I don’t think it’s going to be a grand conspiracy that leads us to Seth Rich’s killers, but c’mon. This should absolutely be a bigger story and journalists should be investigating.

    3. Re: Eek Barba Durkle,

      — Is there a reason? —

      Yes. Opportunity Costs.

      Read other mags.

      1. Read other mags blogs.

Bit soon to know if Reason Mag will publish any commentary or investigation into this.

    4. Cocktail parties

There was a Fifth Column episode where they kind of mentioned this. Talking about any aspect of the Clinton Foundation during the election, for example, would get them labeled tinfoil Alex Jones-types

    5. Too local.

    6. Is that what they’ve decided to focus on on FOX News in lieu of the multiple failures and disasters befalling the Republican party this week?

      1. Tony|7.28.17 @ 8:06PM|#
“Is that what they’ve decided to focus on on FOX News in lieu of the multiple failures and disasters befalling the Republican party this week?”

I’m sure this has to do with the failure to pass one more disastrous ‘healthcare’ bill to replace the Obamanation we currently have.
I’m all for that failure; Trump at least got that right. Let it die as it must.

    7. In all honesty. What is the *general* significance of the Imran Awan story? From what I have read, he evidently was stealing from the till (in multiple ways) at the DNC, and he was apprehended trying to flee the country. Which looks bad for Team Blue, of course. And I can understand why Team Red would gloat about it. But why should anyone else? Yeah he was evidently a corrupt DNC staffer working for a generally corrupt organization. Is this supposed to be earth-shattering news?

      1. After EBD’s comment, I did a search.
I’d add it looks like some bank fraud which would get MONEY LAUNDERING!!!!! if he didn’t have guanshi (which it seems he does).
Other than that it seems a lot of innuendo, the same sort of crap aimed at ‘Russki collusion!!!!!’, and some links to the Clintons. Run of the mill scumbag working for the D camp.
Tony would be all over it if the guy worked for the R camp, but get back to us when there’s something worth more than a wink and a nudge.

        1. You guys need to google ‘pizzagate’ if you want to REALLY understand what’s going on.

    8. The Reason staff are trying to get jobs at CNN.

  22. Democrats are strategizing on how to reingratiate themselves with working class whites.

Are they going to give free beer and wings and free copies of one of the old Victoria Secrets catalogs? Or are they only talking about ingratiating themselves with the right kind of whites?

  23. So is Chuck Schumer the de facto Senate Majority Leader now? And how long before Trump figures out if he just puts a (D) behind his name all the scandals and attacks go away?

  24. Considering the DWS angle, I would say it is news.

    1. Duh, this was supposed to be a reply to Paul @5:58

      1. I’m not saying it’s NOT news at all, but DNC and ‘shady staffer’ is what I’d call Wednesday.

        1. Yeah, but it’s Friday! So it’s obviously news!

          Oh wait

  25. “Reingratiate themselves with working class whites”

Licensing reform, zoning reform, and enough of the vehicle-ramming subsidy that is “gun control”.

    “North Korea tests…”

We missed our window. Now they have the bomb, all we can do is hold tight and hope this so-called “Black Market Generation” is all it’s cracked up to be.

  26. Gainesville Police Department join the BSA on the Trump Speech Apology Tour:

“The @POTUS made remarks today that endorsed and condoned police brutality.

GPD rejects these remarks and continues to serve with respect.”

  27. “Democrats are strategizing on how to reingratiate themselves with working class whites.”
Hey Tony, how might you go about conducting a detente with the illiterate cousin-fucker demographic both so hated and so needed?

  28. Democrats are strategizing on how to reingratiate themselves with working-class whites.”

So after years of the left using identity politics to portray straight white working men as the cause of all the evils of the world, now, in an attempt to regain power, they are going to forgive all that? What a wonderful way to expose your own hypocrisy.

  29. Prepare to be Trumped:

Bad News If You Make $150,000 to $300,000: Higher Taxes for Many

Apparently Trump’s Tax Reform Plan is going to raise taxes on the middle class thousands of dollars per year in order to pay for tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires.

    1. So, 150,000 – 300,000 is considered middle class again now? Funny.
