Senate Republicans are looking to release a revamped version of their Obamacare replacement by the end of the week.
Let's just go ahead and repeal this idea right now.
Hello.
FFS just repeal it already.
Lotta ins and outs on this one.
That's what she said!
The private memos by fired FBI Director James Comey about his conversations with President Donald Trump may have contained classified information...
How very delicious this is all becoming.
I want a news filter that just replaces the word 'classified' with 'love notes'.
"Law enforcement agencies near the southern border are increasingly using biometric scanning in order to identify illegal immigrants."
I knew it! We've been embedded with chips!
Not quite. Illegals arrested previously have their biometric data entered into system.
I think they scan visitors to the USA too.
Republicans are increasingly negative about the influence of colleges on America. I cannot for the life of me imagine why.
Uh, because they're repugtards who don't want book learnin.
And the sad part is, there are a lot of big need-based scholarships available for kids from low-income families that could help them break out of this bitter cycle, but they won't take them because of their attitudes towards the higher education system and the perceived indoctrination.
You don't know many poor people, do you.
...or Republicans.
Lol. No.
Or that not everyone has the mental aptitude to go to college. If college was harder and consisted of material that was not what you should have learned in high school, then maybe this would be a self-fixing issue because kids would flunk out.
That and school loans default rate is out of control.
I would go even further and argue that those "college" skills are themselves overvalued. There was a time when they were scarce, and thus valuable, but that time is long past.
Your average college-educated white-collar person often will openly, and even somewhat proudly, admit to not being able to do even a little bit of carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, or electrical work.
Yet they simultaneously hold the belief that these professions are "unskilled" and somehow not as good as white collar professions, even when they pay better.
I grew up ridiculously pampered and non-handy, but I installed a light switch timer, all new toilet flappers, and new cupboard shelving in my house in the last year. Sadly I suspect that minimal effort puts me at least 75th percentile for those skills among my cohort of people born '85-'95.
More details slowly flow out about the circumstances by which Donald Trump Jr. met with-
OMG, my attention span on this was already stretched beyond the limit. IN RUSSIA POINT GETS TO YOU.
"More details slowly flow out about the circumstances by which Donald Trump Jr. met with a Kremlin-connected lawyer who had offered to provide damaging information about the Democrats but also wanted to discuss the conflict that prompted Russia to stop allowing Americans to adopt their orphans."
You can have my orphans when you pry them from my cold, dead hands.
Srsly. Americans raise them as their own, educate them, and set them free. It's like they don't even know what orphans are for!
...also wanted to discuss the conflict that prompted Russia to stop allowing Americans to adopt their orphans.
The ultimate sleeper agents.
>>>it may be a bear eating your head.
freakin' country-bear jambaroo around here.
Police Shoot Unarmed Batman Cosplayers at Australian Sex Party
Oy.
This is why I don't do cosplay. Every morning after getting dressed I ask myself, 'if I die wearing this, would it be hilarious?' before going outside.
And if not, you change, right?
Luckily, my jorts and "These Colors Don't Run" tank-top will always be appropriate.
I was told there are no more guns in Australia.
But if there were one, who would have it if not the Joker, smart guy?
If you're into amusement, go and look up pictures of home-made guns that Aussie biker gangs are cranking out of their home-made lathe shops. Some of them actually look pretty amazing, and it's clear that whomever they have making those few gorgeous one's has some real talent.
Apparently, there weren't any at this party.
Those cops are hardcore cosplay enthusiasts.
Now they'll just get sent to Arkham and escape once again.
Is that a gun in you leotards or are you enjoying the sex party?
A New York state trooper was killed responding to a domestic violence call, as was a woman in the home.
Not that I don't sympathize with both, but why was the woman given second billing?
Patriarchy.
They don't fly the flags at half mast when regular people are killed either.
Law enforcement agencies near the southern border are increasingly using biometric scanning in order to identify illegal immigrants.

Senate Republicans are looking to release a revamped version of their Obamacare replacement by the end of the week.
Just leave it alone and let it die on its own like it was designed to do.
I have it on good authority that all of the problems are just because the Republicans aren't administering the program in good faith like the promised they would when they got back into power.
+1 Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

6 Charged in Greenpeace Protest at Chicago's Trump Tower
The faces of The Resistance.
I can smell the self-righteousness wafting out from my keyboard.
Of course one of them has pink hair. Of course.
How is Trump's whale-hunting policy any different from Obama's? Or do we think they're just preening because Trump?
The mission-accomplished-looking pair on the left look like they couldn't be happier to be going to jail. The pair on the right look like crazy people who happened to be standing by and now have no idea where they are.
And now that I read the article, holy moly. "Environmentalists" unfurl a 30' x 50' banner, which really is just a huge non-specific fundraising ad for Greenpeace, made presumably out of some sort of plastic fiber, and let it float away in the wind to wreak havoc wherever to goes.
Gaia - with friends like that, who needs enemies?
Greenpeace should be taken out to the shed and shot. Seriously. Feast your eyes upon this little travesty:
Greenpeace Ruins Nazca Lines
I find it astronomically strange that once someone identifies themselves as a Greenpeace member that they aren't looked at like they just declared that they're a Grand Wizard of the KKK who worships Satan and Hitler. They're comically terrible.
What amazing dicks.
According to Patrick Moore, a founding member of Greenpeace, the last actual environmentalists with an awareness of science left Greenpeace in the 80s, because their various goals had largely been accomplished.
What's left is simply a PR machine, and you can see that in these antics. High profile. Eye-catching. Dramatic. Urgent. Vague.
Indeed. There's a lot of organizational machinery that appear to be left on with no one at the switch that are gradually and surely destroying the entire nation in their death-throes.
Those four will get passed around prison like a box of Oreo's.
Not buying that. The last two look like they'd rather shank you in the prison lunch line than have the chipped beef on toast.
Amazon Prime is on pace to become more popular than cable TV
Does anyone here have a time machine? I'd like to go back to 2001 and buy some Amazon stock. Anyone?
Bought.
You can still buy some. Its near $1000 per share but it will keep going up and split someday.
But we'll continue comparing them anyway.
Amazon fuckin' Prime, something I pay $100+ for and yet never make my money back in the long run.
If you order a few things each month that do not add up to free shipping, Prime pays for itself.
If you factor in Amazon video each month compared to Netflix at $9 per month, Prime pays for itself.
Its not for everyone though.
My stance has always been that with proper planning you get free shipping on everything anyways, so who needs Prime?
But I get that there are exceptions to that.
LOVETT: MTA wrote $4.9M check to three upstate ski centers in bizarre move requested by Cuomo officials
LOL.
How is that legal?
"After obtaining his contact information through its accidental exposure by the Washington Post, The [Mercer Island High School] Islander contacted Secretary of Defense James Mattis for an interview."
And it's a good interview.
BS warning - it's Mercer Island. This is where presidential candidates visit when they swing through Seattle to get campaign cash bags.
They probably could get Mattis' number from a friend of a friend.

One very angry man named Mike from Montclair called in when Chris Christie co-hosted a sports radio show
What a douche Chris Christie is.
Why do people vote for assholes like this?
You should have seen the other guys.
But it's not safe to visit the commoners' beaches! Not when they're constructing hate sculptures like this!

Republicans are increasingly negative about the influence of colleges on America. I cannot for the life of me imagine why.
Listen, if red-pilled parents from Kentucky want their little darlings to become the next McDonald's burger fry cook because they are afraid that college is going to turn them into dyed-hair tranny freak SJWs then there's little I can do to stop them. I'm a socialist and all, but fundamentally people have to want to help themselves.
Did all of the writers here at Reason get their degrees from relatively good schools? I mean, for crying out loud there's a Campus Republican chapter at every school I know of. Can't little would-be Ayn Rands just join up with them and tell stories about their oppression at the hands of their liberal professors? I've made the closest friends in the various red-state shitholes I've lived in with people who actually had no problem with gay marriage. Can't libertarians make friends with poor outcasts the way I did?
I'm looking for the point of this little screed, but I just can't find it.
It is difficult to read his mind, the print is so small.
Did you get a college degree? I did... at a public university. Then I went to grad school and got a stipend supported by the government. I'm happy that I did.
I hope all these Republicans do well in their dry walling class.
I hope they at least learn that drywall is one word.
The snobbery of the college educated who criticize a typo on a comment page is probably the type of thing that so pisses off the parents of future drywallers.
See, Robespierre is teachable. A phrase I never thought I'd say!
Psst - buddy?
* waves hand*
Over here, over here.
*whispers*
You see - you're the one playing the "college-is-for-elites-not- knuckle-dragging-republican-drywallers" card.
Do try to keep up.
Not at all. I'm trying to convince people that it's a good idea to go to college and ignore right-wing ideologues trying to convince them otherwise.
Don't do disingenuous - you're not very good at it.
Stalin: You mean like left-wing propaganda that you HAVE to go to college to make it?
College is not for everyone and would be cheaper if kids didn't get buckets of money for college. Colleges just get the money from kids up front and then the kids realize later how their general ed degree doesn't help them at all because you still need experience.
Yup. Three. And then I taught it for awhile.
I'm just not seeing how your comment is responsive to the observation that "Republicans are increasingly negative about the influence of colleges on America."
You seem to be responding to a statement more like "Republicans refuse to attend college in America."
Just wondering where it is you heard it, and why you're arguing against something no one here actually said.
So, you don't think that a sentiment like "Republicans are increasingly negative about the influence of colleges on America" will translate into Republicans refusing to attend college in America? Maybe. I'm trying-- perhaps prophylactically-- to dissuade them from such a rash course.
Question: How much time do you spend worrying about 18 yo SJWs at Evergreen College and their influence on political discourse? My answer is 0.0 seconds.
So, you don't think that a sentiment like "Republicans are increasingly negative about the influence of colleges on America" will translate into Republicans refusing to attend college in America?
No, not at all.
Someone around here even recently said something to the effect of "I mean, for crying out loud there's a Campus Republican chapter at every school I know of."
Who was that?
Well, there's a diversity of political thought on college campuses these days. You wouldn't necessarily get that point if you listened to people who Worried about 18 year olds having a tizzy at Evergreen College, which-- psst-- has always been a bit wacky for a long time now.
I'm saying that people that write articles about SJWs and the decline of unfettered speech on college campuses are mostly full of shit.
No, you're not saying that at all. You're saying that people who don't go to college can't do anything but work at McDonald's, but that Republicans are ignorant about what college is, so can you help it if Kentucky Republicans are uneducated and therefore worthless people? And then, to boot, you're also arguing that Republicans are attending college, anyway, so who cares? And that college is just for elitist snobs who are hated by drywallers for some reason.
If you disagree with Republicans' stated reasons for being concerned about the influence of American colleges, why not just say that?
Well I'm sure your concern warms their little hearts, and will get them to stay after all, since no doubt that really was what your actual concern was, and you're in no way posturing randomly in a desperate attempt to feel superior.
Why do you care?
I'm pretty sure you're not a Republican, so how is this datum relevant to the topic at hand?
Then I went to grad school and got a stipend supported by the government. I'm happy that I did.
That stipend didn't come from the government.
I'm a socialist and all, but fundamentally people have to want to help themselves.
Which is on it's own a pretty massive contradiction, but you keep doin' you.
Ok so what now?
Well, then, why shouldn't we all pay the same amount in taxes then? Sounds fair to me.
Try that again; delete the emojis, and...
Y'know, treason was one thing, but this is beyond the pale.
Y'know, treason was one thing, but this is beyond the pale.
Hopefully within reasonable time after their deaths, we can set up some sort of Star Trek-y replicator technology such that tears at Snowden's grave become piss on Manning's grave and vice versa.
For now, I extract my vengeance by considering that Clapper was too much of a pussy to threaten to punch Chelsea Manning.
taxation is a sharing of responsibility at the barrel of a gun.
Well, then, why don't we just tax people like they do in Europe in countries that don't suck? Sounds fair to me.
Like France, which has rates less progressive than the US?
Or like every Euro country, with it's comparatively low corporate tax rates?
Ugh, we've gone from having to hear brilliant economic analysis (and other pronouncements) for people who are famous for being famous, or whatever, but this really takes the cake. I mean, WTF?
um..."from people"...
The problem with the press these days is that they just don't treat Dear Leader and his family like the royalty they really are.
JOHN DICKERSON: All right. We are not going to get any insight into the president-elect's thinking here, but let me try this. Did anyone involved in the Trump campaign have any contact with Russians trying to meddle with the election?
KELLYANNE CONWAY: Absolutely not. And I discussed that with the president-elect just last night. Those conversations never happened. I hear people saying it like it's a fact on television. That is just not only inaccurate and false, but it's dangerous.
Yes, except for his son, his son-in-law, his campaign chief, his national security advisor, and his attorney general I'm not aware of any collusion between the Trump Administration and Russia for the purpose of meddling in the election and digging for dirt on HRC. This is such a nothing-burger!
I don't think collusion means what you think it means, but I think we agree that Trump is a mean person...?
What's your definition of collusion?
I think a more important question is what your definition of collusion is, because the entire United States government and most News outlets have been working overtime to find a single example of it and have thus far failed under the 'official' legal definition of that word.
Why do libertarians of all people resort to a legalistic defense of this President. Shouldn't we be on the side of the press who are investigating this government? What kind of libertarian sucks Trump's cock so willingly?
Pointing out the utter laziness of lefties in attacking Trump for stuff he has not done is not fellatio.
What lefties do to protect Obama, Hillary, Bill Clinton and other lefties is felching at its finest.
That would depend on your definition of 'protect'
Is it a legal one?
See, here's the thing:
Lots of people here, including most of the people engaging with you right now, really don't like Trump at all.
But when you come here screaming Team Blue narratives about Trump's "collusion" with Russians to "meddle" in our elections in an entirely fact-free and hyper-partisan way, you're going to get some pushback if from no one else than we aspie-types who respond to falsehood even if it's being leveled against people we don't like.
If you say "Trump is an alien from Mars who rapes children" and I say "I don't think that's true," that's not me "sucking Trump's cock," to use your charmingly Progressive imagery. That's me pointing out that you're an anti-intellectual partisan hack, notwithstanding all your protesting to the contrary.
What I haven't heard explained in any coherent matter is why the Russians would need to collude with the Trump campaign for any of what they have been accused of doing? I have no problem with believing the worst of the Russians (and, frankly, am not a big fan of Trump), but what insight into the election would the Trump campaign be able to given the Russians that they couldn't get elsewhere? I mean, we live in society with a free flow of information. So, why would the Russians tie themselves to a particular political campaign when they could do their dirty deeds without doing so?
Is the libertarian defense of Trump only that he is boorish, incompetent, ignorant and minimally aware of the duties of his job?
Why do you assume that there is something called "The Libertarian Defense of Trump?"
Is the Socialist defense of Trump "at least he realizes that proper jobs should be in the hands of white 'Muricans where they belong?"
That was Bernie's argument.
FEELZ the Bern!
As a libertarian socialist, I don't defend him at all. Nor do I approve of his policies designed to deport immigrants. That latter point should go without saying, but someone here always seems to come to his rescue.
As a libertarian socialist
lolz, troll confirmed. Again.
I've been against basically every military intervention undertaken by the US since I got out of grammar school. I've been for gay marriage and legalization of all drugs since the 80s. But, yeah, I realize I can't be in your club because I think billionaires should pay the same rate of Social Security taxes that peons do. I'm sorry.
OK,would their benefit be capped out? You are aware that there is some proportionality between what a person pays into s.s. and what is eventually paid to him. I can tell you that I paid at or near the top for the last part of my career and that the money I paid into s.s. is a terrible deal vs. if I had been allowed to put that same money into an S&P Index Fund for forty years.
Ah, the Tony Principle.
"Someone here once disagreed with something I said about Trump; therefore all Libertarians are Trump supporters."
You said you went to college, right?
"libertarian socialist"
No such thing.
You cannot be a Libertarian and say you respect other people's right to property, fruits of labor, and self-defense
...
Then the socialist in you tries to take away property, wealth, and guns.
I feel the same way about people who would restrict a women's right to abort a pregnancy. But, yet, there's room here for them.
OK, so we should respect that you're a libertarian who wants to take stuff away from people for the common good because...some people here are anti-abortion? WTF?
You're Tony, aren't you?
The thing you're not getting is this:
People here disagree about all kinds of things. Some people are able to disagree with a particular point without being an insulting asshole to the person making it, and without collectivizing whole groups of people based on one person saying something you don't like.
In other words, you "can't join our club" not because of your heterodox views, but because your opening statements tend to involve you being a huge asshole to someone and issuing blanket condemnations of whole groups of people.
Don't be a dick, be open to discussing things in good faith, and you may actually find friends here.
Where in the Constitution does it say there is right to have government pay for your abortion?
